A set of paths link the courtyard to various areas of the grounds. It's nice to walk along either on your own or with a friend. The trees on either side of the path help to create a light atmosphere. So go on, take your time and soak up the fresh air, heaven knows students need it.

Never got old, that did. GIGGLE. Bliss finished strumming and sighed. How she loved playing her guitar.
Then she froze.
A sound came from behind her and she swivelled around. Who was there? She didn't want to call out, because that would just be silly, but there was someone there and she wanted to know who. Then a figure came out from the path and stood before her and she sighed in relieve. Not that she had been scared before. Obviously.
"Hai, Tag," Bliss said warmly and smiled at the Gryffindor. "Oh, thanks," she said, looking down and blushing slightly. She didn't like people hearing her sing unless she knew about it. Weird as that sounded. Well, she was glad to see him anyway.
Bliss was comfortable around Tag, right? He happened to found her by chance and seeing as he actually had no where to go he kinda wanted just to hang out and talk to her. She wouldn't mind talking to him right? Maybe she just wanted to be alone and sing and strum her guitar by herself?
Taking a chance he sat down across from her with his legs crossed as he expressed a little smirk. "So how long have you playing, may I ask my dear Blissy?" He asked her. She couldn't have just learned how to play the guitar recently. It was, after all, rather hard to sing and strum the guitar all at the same time. "Oh, you're welcome." Cue cheesy grin.
Aww. She was cute as she bite her lip and shook her head. It was sad she hadn't visited of her own accord. But then, it would mean she could get the full impact of its prettiness today, right?
"I do," Spike confirmed with a nod. He hadn't been to the orchard in a while, having been more preoccupied with Matilda's molt, Rosie and the lack of common room situation, but he'd spent enough time in the woods in his lifetime to know it should be out in blossom now. Not that he usually cared for the blossom, of course, being male and such, but he still noticed it in all its glory. Plus, he'd noted the Whomping Willow was out in bud, and if that was ready for spring, the cherry should be. "We'll definitely be able to find it easier this time," he said with a smile, remembering their trip previously. No need for counting the rows of trees, and studying the branches closely today.
He raised an eyebrow at her giggles. She didn't want to pick flowers? Phew. Spike wasn't one for picking flowers either. He liked to grow them himself. Spike also didn't exactly have anyone to give flowers to... Well, he'd given Beezus some previously as a friend, but that had been a while ago, and Dylan probably wouldn't appreciate the gesture nowadays. A certain way to get a black eye...and such a disappointing way to get it. He'd come to realise, she wasn't worth the bother. He was better than her and that je-
Lottie's words broke through his thoughts, and his face lit up. She wanted to go tree climbing? "That sounds like an absolutely awesome idea." GRIN. Of course he'd help her climb it. Spike was GOOD at climbing trees. "We'll conquer it together," he said with a nod. Then, because he could (and because Indy loved it...and Lottie seemed like perfect adopted sister material) he tilted his head to the side, and said with a wide smile, "You want a piggy-back ride there?"
Yup, she definitely was one cute, excitable, inquisitive firstie. Clearly he didn't project the scary Prefect image too well. Hehe. "Well, Killy and Kranky are my frogs...and Sophie is my stick insect." And why was she smirking at the name Sophie? Perfectly good name, it was.
...
And as for what Matilda was, Spike looked visuably relieved. Lottie was still upright and had avoided fainting. So far, so good.
"It's her favourite place," he explained. "Has been since I first got her..." And that was nearly nine years ago now. He felt the Hufflepuff's gaze on his curls, as if trying to spot the tarantula nestled in his curls. She wouldn't spot the spider easily. Matilda was an expert in disguising herself up there. "Would you like to?" Spike asked gently, trying to figure out what exactly Lottie's body language was - nerves, excitement, fear?
No, not that last one. She was too composed.
Which was why Spike raised a hand up to his curls, and waited for a leg to stretch out on to it. He might even let Lottie hold his best friend, if she asked nicely.
Heh. Okay, then. If Spike thought the tree was ready, then it should be. He knew lots about plants and everything related to them. She knew very little compared to him. Almost nothing. Lottie didn't know where Spike was from, but she'd lived in London her whole life, all eleven years of it, so, parks was all she knew, nothing like the Grounds at Hogwarts.
Which were so extensive. Oleander wouldn't believe her.
"I already know where it is...," she suddenly said, she'd memorized the way, "...but I stopped going in January." Obviously, she'd decided she didn't need to keep on looking at the tree until she could see the way she wanted it. It must have sucked for the tree, you know, not seeing her around at a time when all it needs is love. But...whatever. It was a tree, okay? It was going to blossom with or without Lottie.
OH MERLIN! He thought it was awesome! The first year beamed. His words were oh-so-perfect that she had to repeat them, "We'll conquer it together," of course, she had to lose the smile so it'll all sound like serious business. Climbing tree wasn't exactly something one should consider serious stuff, but one had to be careful, yeah? Careful not to break any branches, or any limbs if one fell.
Hmmm...this was something she actually needed to consider, the piggy-back ride, "If Matilda likes me." Because she'd be on his curls, yeah? And if Lottie was on his back...well, yes, Matilda had to like Lottie.
Oooooooh, so they're frogs. "Are they siblings?" Or boy and girl? Like a pair of frogs that just belonged together? She only asked one question, the one she hoped will get a 'Yes' for an answer. Because siblings belong together, and she was missing Oleander quite a bit. ALSO! OH! Sophie was a STICK BUG! Heheh. Elliot will be amused by this, surely, surely amused. She was, so she assumed Elliot will be too.
Awwww, her favorite place? Lottie could see why. It held all the characteristics of an arachnid's environment. Not the hair, but the seclusion and safety, and...no one would bother her up there. Once again, the firstie didn't know, she was only making assumptions. Because little spiders were usually in dark corners.
"Mmmhmm." That was her reply, as she nodded. Eyes never leaving Spike's hand. Yes, Mr. Prefect, we're not afraid to meet Matilda.
Sophie decided to take a walk on the grounds, as usual. She was always outside, but she had not been around the Pathways in a looooong time! So that was her destination right now.
The third year saw a couple of people there already, which didn't surprise her at all. She recognized some, but had no idea who some others were. There were still so many people she didn't know in Hogwarts. The badger reckon she would never get to know all of them.
Oh well. What she COULD know, though, were spells! And speaking of which... Sophie pulled out her wand and grinned. Time to practice!
Maybe she'd start with some that one spell they learned in their last Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson. Petrificus Degitirus. "Petrificus Degitirus. Digitirus." The girl said, without pointing her wand to anything - or anyone. It wasn't a difficult incantation. And anything was easier than 'Flipsniptwitwit' or whatever that was. Sophie never got the hang of that one spell. Just because of that freaky word.
Anyway. This one was alright. Upside down U, wasn't it? Yep. "Petrificus Digitirus!" Sophie said firmly, waving her wand in the loop motion and pointing it to her left hand. All of her five fingers got really stiff and they pretty much stuck together. Eek. That was such a weird feeling. It seemed like she had a wooden plank for a hand.
Aaargh!! "Finite!" o_____o

LAST BIT OF HOMEWORK. Kat was almost done. The blonde skipped all the way to the Pathways. Erm, of all places she wondered why she chose this place. Hmm right, finish this thing, Hudson, once and for all. Ugh, things that Kat hate... LAZINESS. But it was ironic that she was lazy as well. Meh.
Wand at the ready. "Torparticus," Kat said with the jab. And after seeing that little light, she beamed. YES SHE WAS DONE! So much for ditching homework...
Right, Dylan called for a few minutes practice despite the lost. M'kay.

"You went and visited through the winter?" Spike asked curiously. The way she phrased it sounded like she'd been going on a fairly regular basis up until then. He knew she was excited about the tree and blossom, but he hadn't realised she was quite that into it. "I guess it looked a bit sad after that?" he asked quietly. Just the same stark brown branches against the white snow, no new growth or colours to see.
He rubbed his lips together, smothering a chuckle, as she repeated his words. At the same time though, there was a hint of colour flushing to his cheeks. There were some people he could just be himself with, and they wouldn't care...and still love him for it. Lottie was one of those people. She had an excitement that reminded himself of when he was younger, and in doing so, she brought it back out in him. He was thankful for it, given what else had gone on this year. "We'll bravely go where no-one has climbed before..." he added with a serious nod, followed by a broad grin.
"Why wouldn't she like you?" Spike asked, tilting his head to the side, causing his curls to fall in front of his glasses. He brushed them lightly away, and pushed his glasses back up his nose. Stupid things. The glasses, that is, not the curls. "She likes having girl friends..." he said, biting his lip. "Not that she has many." One, maybe. One that Spike didn't want to think about. It might only be Matilda that was holding that 'friendship' together.
He would have showed her, but for once Killy and Kranky weren't in his pockets. He'd left his frogs on his pillow in the Great Hall. Hopefully they weren't getting up to mischief. "I'm not sure," Spike said. "I think so. I rescued them together, so it's quite likely." But without testing their DNA or something he'd never know. "They certainly stick together as a pair." He'd never known one go do one thing, and the other something else. "And I'd never dream of splitting them up."
And whilst he'd been talking about his frogs, Matilda had made her move. A leg reached out to his hand from within Spike's curls, and soon the whole tarantula appeared. Spike smiled proudly. He always loved his best friend, but after two weeks of her molting and growing, it meant so much more to have her with him. He brought his hand down, and held Matilda out to show Lottie. Yes, he'd noticed her gaze had never left his hand. "Matilda, meet my friend Lottie," he said with a smile.
From where she'd been sat in his palm, Matilda stretched out in the direction of Lottie. Her new friend would say hello properly, yes? A stroke maybe, or even a hold?
Kurumi couldn't help but laugh a little, cheeks flushing just a little more, before she responded. "I think, Max, we are going to both just have to reach an agreement that we both think the other was more brilliant than ourselves...or else we are going to be going around in circles all day." But then he had to go and call her a genius and make her feel a little more flustered than she had been. "I'mnotagenius," she mumbled, tugging on her hair a little. "It is just really similar to a game I used to play with my brothers growing up, marbles."
Kurumi paused and bit her lip for a moment. She didn't know if Max was familiar with nonmagical things...and she wasn't always the best at explaining things. Example? Every time she tried to explain something to Selina.
And then she really bit own on her lower lip. Like...REALLY bit down on it when he mentioned...her. Yeah, Kurumi knew who she was and her memories with the former Ravenclaw captain were not good. Not a single encounter with her had been. She was judgmental and always glaring at Kurumi. Always. "Oh..." Was all Kurumi could say in reply at first. "She hates me." Kurumi had said that last bit without thinking and hadn't even realized she had said it until her lips had finished forming the 'me' and then her eyes widened and sort of just staaaaaaaaaaaared at Max for a few moments. "I'm sorry..."
She wasn't really sure what all she was apologizing for...but it just felt like the right thing to say.
What Max said next brought a much wider smile to the Gryffindor's face. He was right, she knew he was right. Selina often told her the same thing and that she did plenty already. Gobstones, yearbook editor and photographer and occasional writer, Quidditch announcer, prefect since fourth year, resident cookie girl, top of her class, top of the school...Selina had no problem rambling off everything to the point where Kurumi wanted to just hide under the covers in the dorms. She usually DID, by the way. "Thanks, Max," she said after a few more thoughtful moments. "I guess, for me at least, after everything that Hogwarts has given me that nothing I do really really returns the favor. I never felt like I belonged until I came here."
Talking with Max was surprisingly easy, probably because their personalities seemed to be so similar - which was suddenly really confusing to her since he had just said Ellie was his best friend. HOW did that work?
"In case you didn't notice...I'm a bit of a perfectionist," she laughed, playfully sticking her tongue out in the process. And he really needed to stop complimenting her because her hair was going to turn colors soon and make her feel even more awkward.
Max playfully scrunched up his nose at her suggestion. "Fine - but you're still wrong." His expression softened; he smiled. "Yeah? So you're very well practiced - that doesn't discredit your extreme level of genius."
All right - now he was just intentionally making her blush. It was amusing to see her so bashful; she always seemed so composed. He also wasn't sure what 'marbles' was, but he assumed it was similar to gobstones - perhaps just with marbles and no spraying goop? He didn't bother asking further on the matter.
It seemed that bringing up Ellie hadn't been the best idea. "I'm sure she doesn't hate you," he defended instinctively, but then when he thought about it... Ellie had mentioned Kurumi and Treyen's closeness before. And... Ellie actually seemed to dislike most people. Hm. Upon this thought, the corners of Max's mouth drooped into a frown. "Ellie can be a hard person to get along with," he added slowly, hoping his best friend never heard that he said such a thing about her. "She... erm... she can be quite the jealous type, and... well... I wouldn't take it personally, Kurumi."
As they walked, Max nervously played with the hem of his sleeve. He had ruined the mood, hadn't he? Or Kurumi's day? Or... something? Surely the Gryffindor was quite happy that she didn't have to see the former Ravenclaw captain around the school, but Max had brought her back to mind.
Stupid Max.
But he smiled after dishing out some more mild encouragement and advice. "'Just honest. And... I wholeheartedly understand that feeling." Hogwarts was Max's favorite place in the world. There was nowhere he felt more comfortable and accepted, which was why he wanted to return as a professor some day - but he worried Kurumi wouldn't see him suitable for a professor or think he was good enough, so... he refrained from elaborating on those shared feelings.
"Really?!" He gasped playfully and put a hand over his heart. "You? Kurumi Hollingberry? A perfectionist? I never would've guessed."
"You went and visited through the winter?" Spike asked curiously. The way she phrased it sounded like she'd been going on a fairly regular basis up until then. From where she'd been sat in his palm, Matilda stretched out in the direction of Lottie. Her new friend would say hello properly, yes? A stroke maybe, or even a hold?
She had a reason, you know? It's not like she didn't know the tree wouldn't bloom until spring but..., "I wanted to memorize the way...," and she could get to it with her eyes closed. That memorized. And to answer his other remark, "It did." She made a face, because that was reason number one for her not to head back. Yet she knew exactly how to get there.
Oh Merlin. Lottie smirked. She doubted no one has ever climbed that tree, really, but it was incredibly amusing and exciting to hear Spike's words. That smirk was answer enough, no? She also nodded, very oh-so-sure of themselves. They will, bravely.
The smirk turned to a smile next. "I don't know, I've never met a tarantula before," a giggle escaped her as she watched him deal with his glasses. See, Spike? You had nothing to worry about. Hopefully. "They make you look smarter, by the way." The glasses.
Awwwww. Really? "Oh, no, you should never split them up." Though, she supposed time away from each other was good from time to time. But splitting them up for good...that wasn't very convenient. And she'd taken this rather personal thinking of her own brother.
MERLIN LOOK! Lottie couldn't help but bounce at the sight of Matilda! She did it only once, she didn't mean to scare her away, after all, Matilda was smaller than Lottie. The Hufflepuff girl BEAMED before taking her eyes off Matilda to check Spike's expression. There was no indication that things weren't okay, so she decided to 'officially' greet the arachnid resting on his hand. "Hiiiii Matilda!" Again, we're not trying to scare her away. And she was safe, yeah Spike? Like, Lottie was safe? "Does she...tickle you? Your hand, I mean?" She didn't notice that she'd been stretching her own hand towards Matilda. Well, her fingers, and kinda her hand too. But Lottie didn't notice this.
It was so weeeeeird. And exciting! And exotic! And...weren't some people afraid of arachnids?
"How about you lead us there then?" Spike said with a nod. He knew the way too, but it'd be more like a game then, no? Part of their big adventure. "I mean, direct, well, y'know...get us there. Since, well, leading would be kinda hard if I'm giving you a piggyback..." He nodded in understanding as she confirmed his guess. "I'm sure it'll more than make up for it today..."
And then they'd go find the tree that Lottie wanted to climb, and survey the rest of the ground from it proudly. Oh yes. With Matilda back in full health, he'd known today was going to be a good day, but now it'd gotten a whole lot better. In fact, he couldn't think of a more more enjoyable way to spend it right now. His gaze fell on the younger girl - his excitement was evident, but also with a hint of fondness. Lottie was one cool firstie, that was for sure.
...was she giggling at his glasses? Spike's lips pursed up, ready to puff out his cheeks, though they softened a little at her next comment. "Not...over the top though, right? Like, still me-ish?" He asked with a frown. Yup, Spike was still overly self conscious about wearing the dark frames. They didn't feel like a part of him yet, like they belonged with his personality. For a start, they were entirely unpractical, and tended to slip down his nose at inopportune moments. And second, he figured them made him look nerdy, which despite being a Ravenclaw, he most definitely wasn't.
Spike shook his head. "I wouldn't dream of it," he said seriously. "You'll have to meet them sometime." If she was happy meeting a tarantula, then two cute small frogs wouldn't be a problem, would it? On second thoughts, however, maybe that wouldn't be the case. Finn really wasn't a fan of Killy and Kranky, but got on with Matilda well. His frogs could be a little energetic at times, unlike Matilda's calm personality.
Talking of which...
Spike's smile widened into a grin as he watched Lottie's reaction. She looked more excited than Beezus had, and that was saying something. Spike nodded reassuringly, amused by Lottie's excitable greeting. Yup, she knew the way to Spike's heart. He stroked Matilda gently, though the spider took no interest in her daddy. She was freeeee! And there was a new girl to play with!
Did she tickle?
Spike carefully picked Matilda up from the palm of his right hand, and made a gesture towards Lottie's hand that had stealthily made it's way closer. "You want to find out for yourself?" he asked. He'd be fine if she said no, of course, but surely there was nothing better than experiencing it first hand?
With her pygmy puff perched in his usual spot on her shoulder, Ness wandered outside and headed in no particular direction. She was just happy walking anywhere. With her she also carried her new diary, so that she could maybe scribble some notes down about her recent happenings. She did this often now and confided her diary with almost every secret she had, especially the secrets she was too afraid to say aloud to anybody.
After walking for quite some time Nessie was ready to sit down, but she wanted to sit somewhere secluded and completely free of people. All just as a saftey precaution of her diary writings.
Finding a tree near the pathway, the fifth year walked over towards it and sat down partly hidden by it's long branches. The ground was certainly not clean to sit on, nor was it comfortable but for now she'd just have to do with it.
Unlocking her diary, the red head grabbed her spear quill from her robe pocket and began writing. Starting of with the words..
'Dear, Galia' That was what she had named the diary. 'I feel guilty again...'
Scribble. Sicribble. Scribble. Nobody was looking right?
Belle decided to get some fresh air and explore the pathways a little bit. She loved feeling of the spring air on her skin. She loved soaking up the sunshine. She was even loving her knew converse sneakers. Life was good. She even got out her sketchbook and started to draw. She loved hearing the birds chirp and listen to the trees rustle. Belle was supposed to meet someone here but she did not seem to find him yet.

Damon walked through the pathways, trying to find Belle. He smiled as he turned a corner and finally found her, "Hey, long time no see." He sat beside her and gave her a small hug, "So how have you been?"

As Belle was looking around for some inspiration for drawing, she saw that Damon was coming. Belle smiled and her heart skipped a beat. "Oh Hi Damon!" she said happily and hugged him right back. When Damon asked how has she been, Belle shrugged and said, "I am alright actually, i am just chilling out on this beautiful day enjoying the sun. How about you mister? The person i have not seen in a while." she said playfully punching him.

Belle understood Damon was busy with Ari. She was his girlfriend. They were bound to spend more time together. Belle's eyes widened. "You went camping? Oh my god i am so jealous! I wish i could have been there. I love making smores and being by the camp fire and sitting under the stars."

"Well, maybe you can come one of the times we go over the summer. After all, Dad and I like to do it as often as possible." Not hard to understand, "He always likes my friends going anyway so he can meet them and then embarrass me in front of them." Damon shook his head with a small chuckle, "The offer's always open."

Carefully though. Cos that guitar's SPECIAL.

Wrong? Kurumi ended up raising an eyebrow at him with that word. She wasn't wrong, was she? Max was just delusional. And was still dishing out the compliments and making her blush more. "Well, marbles is a very different sport from Gobstones really," she said with a small shrug as she tried to qualify his use of practice and all that. "It's sort of like saying just because you can play football you can play Quidditch." Not that Kurumi could play football. The only sport she knew how to play was kendo. "Or that just because you are good at dueling with a sword you can do well in a wizard's duel." There. That was more relative to her situation.
Kurumi brushed her bangs to the side anxiously, mostly for something to do with her hands other than fumble with her robes while Max spoke about Ellie. Kurumi really didn't know what to say in regards to the girl. Kurumi tried not to say anything or do anything to upset anyone about her because it hurt Treyen...and she never wanted to do something to upset him...even if Ellie always made it very difficult for the Gryffindor. Always.
"I...try not to," she said after a few moments. "It's just...hard when Treyen is like family to me. It isn't fair to him that we can't be in the same place for too long...because she always ends up glaring at me for something or..." She trailed off, biting down on her lower lip and tangling her fingers in her hair a bit more. The ironic thing was that Ellie wasn't aware of how Kurumi had defended her and Treyen's relationship in a letter she had sent to Treyen once. It had surprised Kurumi too, that she had written what she had, but she had. "S-Sorry, Max, probably shouldn't talk about this...I don't want to make you uncomfortable."
She suddenly started to giggle a little, thinking back on some things that Max had said about Ellie. "You know, we have something in common. You used to have a crush on your best friend...and so did I," she said with a small smile. "And somehow they both stuck around in our lives." She wasn't sure if Max had ever told Ellie how he had felt, and she wasn't about to ask unless he offered up such information, but it was funny how life worked out.
Sort of like how her and Max were so similar but hadn't really spoken much until now.
Kurumi stopped playing with her hair for the time being and studied Max's face for a moment when he spoke about Hogwarts and couldn't help but wonder if he too had a hard home life that had made him feel so attached to the school like she had. "Makes it hard to want to leave, doesn't it?" she said with a small frown. "I hope I can come back someday...maybe teach." And she was back to blushing again. "I thought about applying for the Board of Governors...but I think I need more life experience before I considered that. Finish university at least." Which got her wondering what Max would be doing next year.
What all the seventh years would be doing really.
What her and Lewis would be doing. Which made her cheeks flush juuuuuuuuuust a bit more.

Belle heard Damon's suggestion and agreed. "Sure i would like to go camping with you. I have not done it in a while." she smiled at Damon. She was flashing back to the times when she did. To be honest those were the most fun times she had.
As Ethan was telling about embarrassing stories about their parents, "Oh do not get me started on how my parent's embarrass me in front of my friends. Sometimes i just wanna evaporate to the ground and not be seen. What is your most embarrassing story?" Belle asked curiously.

Damon nodded, "I'll ask, though I know he'll let you go." He smiled and paused, "Probably last weekend when Ari and I just fell asleep on the couch and Dad came down and quite literally flipped me onto the ground." He sighed.
Ameliah dug her heels in the ground and gave Tay her classic squint. "And who would you be going with?" What WAS IT with these people and dating without consent of Am???? Don't they KNOW that she needs to constantly check on any boy/girlfriends to make sure they aren't hiding anything?
Taylor looked at Ameliah and sighed, "My boyfriend. Duh." She giggled and smiled at her. Tay hugged Am, "His name is Brodie Livingston. He is magnificent." Taylor sighed in happiness this time.

Ameliah raised an eyebrow behind Tay's back as she hugged her friend back. What is it with these people and getting boyfriends without my advice?"Well now that I know, that'd be great!" It could give Am a chance to size him up. She had an advantage, of course, since she could read emotions from facial expressions.

Tay beamed, "Once summer comes, we must!" She laughed and spun. "I absolutely love him." Taylor's curls flew as she twirled in joy. "Though Max hates him."

Ameliah grinned. "Alright, it's a deal!" Her eyebrows shot up questioningly at what Tay said after that. If Maxwell hates him... But then again, he was with Elliot of all people!
Damon nodded, "I'll ask, though I know he'll let you go." He smiled and paused, "Probably last weekend when Ari and I just fell asleep on the couch and Dad came down and quite literally flipped me onto the ground." He sighed.
Belle eyes widened. "Why did he do that?" she asked flabbergasted. "Did he know that Ari was your girlfriend?" Belle was smiled and was glad that she might be able to go. "What is your favorite thing to do while camping?"
