Isabelle unlocked the door and started rolling the wheeled mannequins into the room. Positioning them all in a line so the name plates could be seen clearly, she then dumped a large pile of bags on the floor in the corner. Going back out into the corridor, she bought in the wall with all the kids tops on and left it along the back wall of the homework room, silently placing her protection charms on it. She trusted them, of course....

Nodding in satisfaction, Issy turned on her heel and left the room. Leaving it unlocked behind her.

Great. Hannah know had to work on her Transfiguration homework. She needed to create bottoms to go along with her top. The only bad thing was that she never managed to get it right in class so how was she magically going to get it right this time? She was really having a hard time in Transfiguration this term and she didn't know why. Maybe because concentration was key and that is something that she did not have lately. Her mind was constantly running.

She was still trying to decide whether she wanted a pair of pants or a skirt. Her mother had always drilled it into her head that a lady should wear a skirt or dress. Hmm... she didn't always like wearing skirts but she decided to go ahead and try...make her mother proud. Her parents approval meant a lot to her.

So how did she want it to look? She decided that she would be better off if she did a sketch first like she had done with her top. She pulled out some parchment and drew a black pencil shape skirt. She didn't want anything super fancy. She didn't want any sparkle to it. Just a plain black skirt. She didn't want it flowly either. She wanted it to be tight fitting. She thought that it go better with her dressy shirt. She finished up the last bit of the sketch. She eyed it for a minute. It shouldn't be hard since she wasn't adding anything to it. She should get this quicker than she did with the skirt. She hoped so anyways.

Eliza had had such an easy time in her second Transfiguration class that she thought it would be best to finish the assignment while the creative juices were still flowing fresh. She bounded into the homework room with a smirk of self-approval at its emptiness. There was only one other student here so far, which was fine with her. That meant fewer distractions and less eyes to watch her being goofy. She smiled to herself and hummed quietly as she found her mannequin in the lot at the front of the room. "Hello there old friend," she whispered to it.

Grasping onto the waist of her faceless fashion model, she wheeled it in a loose zig zag motion as if they were dancing. She did this all the way to the back corner of the room where she finally decided to stop dilly dallying and start getting to work. She bowed to the mannequin and said in a silly, aristocratic voice, "Why thank you, my dear, for the looovely dance." She giggled to herself and looked back to her tunic posted on the board. She already knew that she wanted leggings, and the last pair she had made in class were pretty close to what she wanted. She cocked her head sideways and thought of some ridiculous things to practice making before she actually made the ones she wanted to keep. Might as well have a bit of fun!

Jory was not looking forward to doing this homework. He was still having trouble with the spell and it sometimes discouraged him. When he arrived at the room, he saw he was not the only one wanting to get an early start on the work at hand.

He set down his book bag and went in search of his mannequin. He finally located it, almost in the center of the group. The badger took hold of it and half dragged, half lifted it to the front where his bag was.

"Okay let's get to work,'' he muttered and he sat cross legged on the ground in front of the dummy as he had done the first time, when he worked on the Tee shirt. Jory couldn't help but admire the shirt which was hung on the wall at the back. It was perfect for a day at the Formula 1 race track.

Now, he took out some papers and coloured pencils from his bag. He would start with a sketch again. The boy pondered on his design- he had already decided on transfiguring the trash bags into jeans. "Maybe the checkered flag waved at the start of a race?'' he thought as he worked on the sketch of the jeans. He then coloured it in sky blue. With a normal pencil, he drew two medium sized checkered flags, one above each knee. And holding each of the flags was a man in a white shirt and red cap and he was leaning out of a balcony-like structure. Below each of that picture, the Puff drew the stop lights that signalled the cars to take off and the starting line. Now, he decided to add some creases to the jeans so it would look as if it needed ironing- only it didn't need any, of course. But these were a deeper shade of blue and were in diagonal lines along the bottom of the knees and towards the ankles.

"I think that's okay enough,'' he thought.

Pao plodded down the corridor of the sixth floor, heading back to the practice room for the second portion of their Transfiguration term assignment. This should go faster than with the top. Maybe. He'd managed to get a bit further in class this time. Before it had ended, he had gotten his bag to mold into the shape of trousers. With the first class for his top, all he'd managed was a wonky bag morphed into some strange object that in no way resembled a shirt. The boy reached the room and pushed the door open, ready to tackle that rubbish bag if it took him all evening.

He scanned the wall, looking for his name. Pao Mancini! She changed my name plate! The first year's face lit up with a grin. I like Magnus more and more every day. Nod. He wheeled his half-dressed dummy over to an open space and then retrieved some of the half-cut bags. He wrapped them around the legs with care, fiddling with them until they stayed on.

"Alright, spell time." Or, rather, visualization time. Shiny black leather down one leg, bright Hufflepuff yellow down the other. And maybe if I can do that fast enough, I can try adding a bit of detail to it. But really, he had to be realistic about what was within his abilities. Baby steps. So he let the image of the multi-colored pants consume his thoughts.

After a full thirty seconds of this meditation, he whipped out his wand, ready to take on the rubbish bag.

Now that he was done with the sketch, Jory was now ready to begin working on transfiguring the bag. He rested the paper on his bag and headed over to the pile of bags where he took one and carefully covered the dummy as had been done in class.

He stood in front if the mannequin and readied his wand. "Summitto Vestis,''he repeated to himself to make sure he got the incantation right. "Summitto Vestis,Summitto Vestis,'' He paused. What was the wand movement again? ''Oh yeah, an upside down V shape.''

"Okay, here we go,'' the Puff murmured, feeling a bit confident all of a sudden. "Remember, concentrate on the jeans...'' That was all he needed to do. He studied the sketch once more. "Summitto Vestis!" he exclaimed, and trying to keep a clear picture of the jeans in his head.

Pao cleared his throat. Cough, cough, cough. He pounded on his chest with his wand hand. Blue and gold sparks shot out of his wand, flying into his eyes. "I know, I know. Ravenpuff, I got it." He shot an annoyed look at his wand. "That doesn't mean I have to get this on the first try, you know." The first year shook his head.

Right, so. Now that he was done coughing it was time to get working. His left hand moved through the "^" upside down V motion. Flick, flick. "Summus-- Oh, shoot, no." That was last time for the top. He restarted his flicking. "Summitto Vestis." Much better.

His rubbish bags began to change, flowing into a pants-like shape. When the transfiguration was finally complete, he stepped forward to admire his handiwork. "Well, not the first try, but still not bad, eh?" He had pants. They were bright yellow. Score!

Now for the size, the black, and the texture.

Making her way to the homework room with significantly more things in her bag than the last time she had been here, Kurumi pushed open the door and waved to those that were already in here practicing - namely Logan because he was one of her favorite first years. "Hey Logan," she said, flashing him a smile as she made her way towards her mannequin Kurumi-quin. She didn't remove her wand just yet and instead flopped down on the floor and began to rummage through her bag for something. She might not be the best at this fashion thing, but she DID know how to be resourceful.

After a few moments, the Gryffindor pulled out a small pile of fashion magazines and setting them in front of her. She glanced back up at her top again and then reached for one of the magazines, Harpie's Bazaar, and began to flip through the pages for a skirt that caught her attention. She knew she wanted volume - mostly to make up for how petite she was herself - but that was about all she knew. Length. Style. Shape. All that was still unknown.

She also needed the other half of her design team, for moral support.

Jory turned up his face. As he had expected, nothing happened to the trash bag. "On the bright side, I'm improving my Seer skills as I'm getting good at predicting my failures,'' he thought dully.

He dropped to the floor and sat cross legged once again to study his sketch. "Well, I remember the details quite well.'' It had to be his concentration. It was the only explanation. Even when he was studying, he was easily distracted and would lose his concentration easily. He looked over at little Pao.Even the first year got it before him.

"Well, let's trying this again,'' the Puff told himself and got up want at the ready. "Summitto Vestis!" he said and followed the incantation up with the upside down V movement.

She was pretty satisifed with her sketch. There wasn't anything really to not be satisified with though because it was just a plain black skirt afterall. She thought that it might be a good idea to practice seeing as how she didn't manage to create a skirt in class.


She cleared her throat and practiced the wand movement first. It was an upside V motion right? Yes... that was definitely it. She practiced the motion a few times until she felt like she not only had it down but that she her movement down tight. She knew sloppy spellwork would create just that... sloppy work.


Next it was time to practice the incantation. She put her wand down and cleared her throat. She kept feeling like she had a frog in her throat lately. She hoped that she wasn't coming down with anything. It seemed like so many people had been sick lately and she did not want to be one of those people. Back to the task at hand. "Summitto Vestis!, Summitto Vestis!, Summitto Vestis!" She had it down, but she still did not feel confident at all about this whole situation. It was time to give it a go though. She couldn't keep putting it off.

"You brought props," Vivi nodded in approval as she threw herself down on the ground beside Kurumi. Her bag was full of supplies as well, and she drew out her parchment and charcoals to rest on the floor between them.

Oh, magazines. Vivi peered over Kurumi's arm at the pictures in the magazine as she turned the pages, not commenting but definitely observing. She was interested, although those pictures were awfully fluffy and overly feminine. Not really the look she was going for.

"So what're your thoughts so far, Miss Hollingberry? Skirt, trousers, shorts....?"

"Research materials," she giggled in reply as she flipped to another page. All the girls in these magazines were so elegant and seemed to pull off dresses and heels effortlessly. Kurumi still could hardly manage a half inch heel without stumbling.

Which only reminded her that they were probably going to be required to transfigure shoes next. Kurumi nervously scratched her arm at the sheer thought of that.

"I'm thinking a skirt," she nodded while her fingers ran over one of the pages. "One with a little volume...I'm not really mature enough for something sleek and slender." Girlish and innocent were more her style. "Something with multiple textures...which I think means I need to layer the trash bags on the mannequin." That had been what Professor Magnus had said during the lesson, right? "What about you?" she asked as she removed some parchment and a pencil from her bag and set it on top of one of the magazines. She should probably get to sketching soon.

Hmm. She wasn't sure if she was mature enough for something sleek either, but she wanted to be, and there was no earthly way she could wear something frilly and girly without feeling an idiot. Maybe people like Kurumi wouldn't mock her, but she'd be uncomfortable.

"The top I made has ruffles and could send to be a bit formless through the torso, so I ought to go with something more fitted so it isn't obvious I'm wearing a trash bag. Plus I'm not sure I can pull off more ruffles." She pushed the charcoals toward Kurumi, if the girl wanted them. "But I'll do a skirt too. Might as well try something outside my comfort zone."

Or she could do slim fitting jeans, like she always wore, and just be herself. Nothing wrong with that.

Since she had just been dancing with her mannequin anyway, she thought it would be fitting HA fitting. Fitting because they're clothes! ....OhmygoshElizaSTOP. for her to make a pair of ladies bloomers. She wasn't sure why she had thought of bloomers exactly, but she had, and now she was going to amuse herself by making them. In fact, they were going to be extra poofy.

She stood back from the mannequin and held up her wand. She closed her eyes, picturing the silly pants as well as she could. She moved her arm in the upside down V motion and said, "Summitto Vestis!" She held her intent as she felt the wand doing its work. She opened her eyes and nearly snorted at the sight of her strange and comical garment. They were just as frilly and silly as she had imagined. I wonder if anyone thinks I'm really going to wear these! she thought as she giggled to herself. Ok, ok, easy now. What else can I make...? She thought about it for a minute or so, giving others the chance to behold her wonderful choice of bottoms.

The hardish jeans material began to form. It was slowly lengthening and taking shape. And also he could see faint outlines of a checkered flag above the left knee and the man on the right knee.

However, once again, the Puff encountered problems. For one thing, the pictures remained just faint outlines, they lengthening ceased just above the ankles and the "creases" he had been hoping for hadn't appeared at all.

"Disappointing,'' the badger said. "But better.''It was an improvement- better than nothing. He turned the incomplete jeans back into a bag. "Time to try again.

"Summitto Vestis!"

Homework again. Transfiguration homework ALWAYS includes this Room. But at least it's something different from writing in parchment for hours. The class was unique, yes. Kat went inside the Room to see a fair number of students. They weren't too many nor too few. It was the ideal time for Kat to do her homework, as she does have standards when it comes to environment.

Once she found her mannequin with her name plate, she thought of what kind of type of clothing she'll be transfiguring out of the rubbish bag. She settled with a skirt. She imagined her previous shirt first, the one she made during the first Transfiguration assignment. Maybe a green skirt would do. Just a plain one so that her outfit would look stunning and matches with each other. Then Kat began scribbling her sketch.

Kurumi couldn't help but snort at Vivi's comment because, well, they quite literally were wearing trash bags. Transfigured ones, but still trash bags. "I bet you could still pull of a trash bag look though," Kurumi teased, sticking out her tongue for added effect as she took one of the charcoals her friend was offering. "Girlish...suits me more, I suppose. I've never really been a fan of skirts. They always seemed so limiting and constricting compared to pants."

Rummaging through her parchments again, Kurumi found her original sketch and decided to just add on to it. After all, she was making a complete outfit and it seemed like such a waste of parchment to draw each article of clothing on a separate piece. Charcoal to the paper, Kurumi lightly outlined a big and somewhat fluffy looking skirt that didn't end up being as frilly as she had first thought it might be. It sort of wasn't really needed considering the violet bow and flower broach she had on the top. She did add a sort of black dot pattern that formed a simple firework-like design on the skirt.



Returning the charcoal, Kurumi looked at her sketch and then back at her mannequin. She would need about three trash bags to accomplish this skirt. One for the topmost layer where the design was and then two for the tulle underneath to give it some volume.

"I really only started wearing and sort of like skirts recently," she said, her cheeks flushing a little. "I'm still a disaster in heels though. Can't walk more than a foot or two without stumbling...so I'm not all that girlish you could say."

"Isn't the point not to look like we're wearing trash bags?" Vivi retrieved the magazine now that it was abandoned and flipped through for her own inspiration. Nothing too puffy or frilly or fussy, although it needed to be complicated enough to impress the professor. That part was key.

"Heel... d'you suppose we'll have to make shoes as the final step of this process?" She dragged her parchment across the stones and selected a piece of charcoal. Several different simple sketches went down, one after the other as they were considered and abandoned. Each was too simple for the project or too complicated for her to wear. SIGH. "I'm a mess in heels as well, so I can completely appreciate your dilemma. We'll have to train to walk in them if the need arises."

The last skirt she drew was a bit fuller up top but tapered nicely to a fitted look... it was the best of both worlds, with some complicated designing in the make of the skirt but not in the fit. Vivi gnawed on her lip as she filled in the rest of the lines and considered the fact that this particular skirt wouldn't work without a belt. It needed a belt because it was sort of high waisted. Needed. "How would you go about making a belt? Another trashbag?"

And with a very clear picture of his designed jeans in his head, Jory concentrated. He concentrated so hard, he blocked out everything around him even down to the other students voices. All he need to think about right now was this pair of pants. Every detail from his sketch he just kept up in front of him.

And here were the changes once again. It followed the same pattern as on the previous try. First the denim material appeared and the lengthening began. This time it was complete and not just up to the ankles. The man holding the checkered flag came next and then the lights. And finally, those stylish "creases" made their appearance.

It was complete! His jeans were finally done.

Alexa slipped into the homework room and found that there were already students in there getting a head start on the bottom half of their outfits. Well weren't they just eager to come see this creepy thing again. SIGH.

After the class she just had she was in no mood for any funny business from the bloody thing. She was here to make a pair of shorts, nothing more.

"Hiya Vivi, hi Kurumi." She said to the two as she walked by them. Of course they were getting a jump start on things. Older kids seemed to like doing that for some odd reason. Then, quite reluctantly, she tried locating her mannequin. As luck would have it it was right next to Pao's. Greeeaaaat, because she so wanted to end up screaming like an idiot girl with him sitting right there. If something happened he wouldn't be of much help!! He'd probably just get eaten too!

"Hey Pao." She said, settling in next to him but keeping a bit of distance between her and the over-sized doll. Okay; time to get this over with.

Sarah had been so deep in thought as to what to make her skirt look like that she nearly missed the door! In fact she did, so she had had to turn back. Upon entrance to the room she looked around for her mannequin with her top on.. as it was red it would probably be easier to spot. Sure enough it was there! Her satchel swinging against her body Sarah walked over to it and placed her things down.

Examining the top thoughtfully, Sarah did a whole lot of mental checks. First she had to decide whether to make the skirt (she did not wear pants, so it had to be a skirt) matching pattern to the top or a single different color? Perhaps a neutral color like black or white. Or maybe a whole new colour like blue, which was on the other end of the color wheel to red. She decided in the end to at first make it black when practicing and then make up her mind at a later stage.

This was the part of the homework that Logan was looking forward to the least. With the shirt, he had ideas, thoughts that he could easily transfer to paper. But with this part, he really didn't have anything to go off of.

Finding his mannequin, he plopped himself down in front of it and looked at it in thought for a few good minutes. Really, what could he do with this? Obviously it would have to be pants, since a skirt was obviously out of the question and he wasn't too keen on the whole shorts idea. But what colour of pants should he make? Jeans? Or should they be coloured? Black?

He had also contemplated putting a design on them, but there would be an issue of possibly making everything too busy. Maybe having Larry on both the shirt and the pants would be overkill.

Would green pants work? The same shade as the writing on his shirt?

That was a possibility...

"I was just saying that IF you had to wear one you could pull it off," Kurumi replied with an innocent smirk gracing her lips.

Kurumi moved and grabbed a few trash bags - probably twice as many as she needed but she was feeling a little nervous about ruining at least ONE of the layers while she worked - and returned to her dummy where she used a Severing Charm to slice it along one side so she could wrap it around the mannequin's waist. She repeated this with two more trash bags and then had her attention caught by Vivi once more.

Heels....cue internal cringe. "I...think so? We sort of seem to be working from top to bottom when it comes to outfits. We made a top. Now bottoms...or maybe we will just transfigure socks?" Socks were harmless...for the most part anyway. "Lewis' mother tried to teach me while I visited him over the summer. It was a mild disaster really. I wish I had older sisters instead of brothers sometimes, especially when it comes to things like this." Because, well, Vivi now knew that she didn't have an adult female in her life to teach her such things. "Or we can just use each other as crutches to walk around."

She was joking. Sort of.

"I would use a second bag," Kurumi nodded. "Professor Magnus did mention that if you concentrated enough you could do it with just one, but that different textures and parts could be made with separate trash bags. Using two different ones is sort of sending your brain a subliminal message that you are making two pieces." That made sense, right?

Kurumi glanced at her design once more and then at the three trash bags she had layered on top of each other on her mannequin when Alexa walked by. Kurumi smiled and returned the wave, but her focus was sort of on the trash bags and her chanting inside her head that she would NOT melt any of the three layers while she worked.

First things first, she needed to focus on the design. Technically she already had the design. She'd thought about it in class but the stupid mannequin decided to ruin everything by trying to have an early lunch at her expense!

SIGH.

She wouldn't think about that now. No. Now she was supposed to be getting this done and if she could get it done quickly then she could leave quickly and pray the next Transfiguration class wasn't any time soon. Right. So the design. She'd settled on shorts for the summer and they were gonna turn out good because she wanted to wear them around Diagon Alley at least once.

Hmmm...

Think black shorts...black...shorts...black shorts....

Okay, she was ready to try again. This time she took a few more steps away seeing as this thing CLEARLY didn't like having a wand pointed at it with threats of clothing it. "Summitto vestis!"

She scowled a bit when the bag showed no change...wait...running her hand along it's surface she realized that she'd gotten the texture right this time. Alright...she was...getting somewhere...
