| | The Great Hall A peel of thunder seems to shake the marble floor you're walking on as you throw open the doors to the impressive Great Hall. The dark, overcast night sky you came in under is visible through the enchanted ceiling above. Take your seats quickly; it looks like rain is the forecast for tonight.
A soft rumble of thunder continues to shake the Great Hall while you dine, and flashes of lighting zigzag through the cloud cover as well. The floating candles below provide a warmer welcome to the Hogwarts students than the skies above them. Fear not, Hogwartians; the ceiling is merely enchanted. You won't feel the raindrops when they come. |

Bliss asked, confusion clearly displayed on her face. "I'm..good," she answered, looking around for some sort of clue. What was going on? Clearly Lex had been faking, that or gotten over her problem awfully quickly. Bliss decided not to think too much about it and gave Lex a tentative smile. "Hey Lex, by the way," she said hesitantly. Lex shrugged and smiled at her. "Oh don't worry about me, I can't stay emotional for too long." Or at all for that matter. It was no wonder all she could ever conjure up were crocodile tears, the girl wasn't given to many of the emotions that she considered inferior but sometimes she found them just so useful--like now! Now she had someone to talk to. This was a bittersweet moment. The disgust was definitely there for having to subject herself to crying but it was quickly overlooked because it meant that for now she wouldn't be bored. She could see that Bliss was definitely shocked and she giggled. "Don't worry about it. Like I said, I'm fine." She raised an eyebrow at the girl when she began speaking all hesitant like. "Is something wrong...?"

"Whatever you say, Lex," she said and gave the girl a wink, making it seem that she knew exactly what Lex had cried for. Though she still didn't know, what would anyone fake being upset for? Oh, forget it, Bliss told herself, shaking her head, it doesn't matter. There, that wasn't hard. Her mind was clear and free once again. She grinned at Bliss, her happiness taking hold of her. "Oh, I won't. I believe you," she assured her with a smile and giggled. "Oh, it's nothing, nothing at all," Bliss said, shaking her head furiously to strengthen her words. And stopped, clutching her head as dizziness took control of it.

He nodded his head and gave her a soft smile. There was no doubt that this would be hard. The most challenging thing would be to let go of the feelings he had for her and be there for her solely as a friend but he was determined to do it.
WIll looked down where she had touched his arm and smiled. Meeting her eyes again he said, "I would like that". There was part of him that dreaded meeting this new boy that had caught Nell's eye, yet there was a larger part of him that wanted to make sure that he was the type of guy that was going to be good to her. He wanted to know that Edmund wouldn't hurt Nell...like he had. "What's he like" Will couldn't help but asking, "Please tell me he's bloody awesome because we can't have you interested in some boring prick" He said to her with a small laugh. Baby steps, he kept thinking, baby steps towards friendship. Relief washed through her when he agreed to build there friendship back up. She had worried there for a second that he wouldn't want to be just friends and walk away from her. Whatever there relationship had been they had been great friends first. Loosing his friendship would have been a cruel blow that would have taken her ages to get over.
Nell laughed at William's comment. She had missed his easy humor. "Edmund is pretty great. He has an easy laugh and a great sense of humor. He's basically nice to everyone." What else could she say? He had a fault or two but so did she...and he was hers. She smiled at him. "You'll see when you meet him."

"I'm not usually that clumsy!" she explained in an attempt to regain some of those first impression points back. "I'm just not used to wearing robes, I guess..."
As the boy introduced himself and adjusted his clothes, Sutton dared to allow herself to take stock of him for a moment, surveying his face and his build. At least if she was going to fall in someone's arms, it was someone she wouldn't mind being her knight in shining armor. While looking him over, something on his robes caught her eye. Pointing to the house crest on the chest of his robes, her smile grew even brighter. "You're in Hufflepuff, too?!" Oh. Wow.
That was a compliment that he had never received before. Raising his brow, he nodded. "Didn't want you getting hurt or dirty." Contrary to what Mason others might think, Logan was capable of being nice and thoughtful. "I'm not really used to it either. I was home schooled." She had an edge on him in this, because he had no experience with any of this stuff, while most people here older than 11 knew already.
When she pointed out that he was in Hufflepuff, he nodded and looked down at said crest. "I am. Not what I expected, but I am happy." Now he would be with Harlan and Ness. Oh, and his brother of course. Couldn't forget Mason. |

Oh, and his brother of course. Couldn't forget Mason. Her cheeks blushing again slightly, she looked away, smiling shyly. "Well, I appreciate the thoughtfulness. My mother would be very angry if I was already looking a mess on the first day..." As he continued talking, she made eye contact with him again, becoming even more excited by what he was saying now. "No way! I've been homeschooled, too! This is my first year!" How odd it was that she had just literally ran into a boy who was in the same situation she was. Forgetting that she shouldn't be so forward for a moment, she reached out and adjusted his robes slightly at his chest. "You don't need to worry, though, you look really good! Er, well, that's not... I just meant... you wear them very well..." she stammered, quickly withdrawing her hands from his personal space. Wow... what a stupid thing to say. Way to go, Sutton.
She nodded as he talked, again avoiding his eye contact, afraid she had just seriously damaged her reputation in his eyes. In small, hopeful voice, she replied, "Well, I'm glad you're in Hufflepuff. Who else could I count on to catch me if I almost face plant in the common room?" A glint of humor back in her eyes, she chanced a glance back up at him.

Good and now that that horrific incident where she had to reduce herself to tears in order to get someone to talk to her was over she could continue. It was good that bliss could look pass all this as well because she didn't want her dwelling too long on the crocodile tears; they weren't very important and she used them all the time when she wanted something. Lex frowned slightly when Bliss said that there was nothing wrong then shook her head and got all wobbly. "Are you sure you're fine? I don't want you toppling over or something?" That wouldn't have been very ideal because with her busted wrist she wouldn't have been able to even attempt to catch her. There would be no help on Lex's part, except maybe Lex shouting for someone else to help but that wouldn't have done much if Bliss had already fallen and knocked her head then had some kind of concussion or slipped into a coma or something! Yeah...Lex always thought big...just in case, you know...prepare for the worst and all that.

He had a fault or two but so did she...and he was hers. She smiled at him. "You'll see when you meet him." Will could tell that Nell was relieved when he said that he wanted to work on just being friends. He was glad to see that she liked his answer. There was a large part of him that thought maybe it was best if he just walked away. He knew that if they were friends it would be hard to sit back and watch her with another guy, yet he also knew that he could never walk away from her again. He would do whatever she asked of him, and if she wanted to be just friends, well that her bestfriend he would be.
Hearing Penelope's laugh he couldn't help but let out a small laugh himself. It had been so long since he had heard it. "Good" he told her as Nell said that Edmund was a great guy. "you deserve nothing left" now he just only hoped that she was telling the truth. This Edmund bloke better be nothing short of the cat's meow. "I look forward to it" he told her as she mentioned once again meeting Edmund. Edmund. That was such a propper name. Eddy he would officialy be referred to in Will's head. Yes that seemed to suit the boy he had yet to meet much better. |

It surprised Nell that he was so adamant that her guy be worthy of her. She supposed it was lingering guilt of how he had left things. Well that was all well and good but she would prefer to put this all behind them.
Moving on would be good.
On that mental note Nell decided to change the subject. "So how's your sister?" His sister was always a good topic and one that didn't have him shutting down in anger.

On that mental note Nell decided to change the subject. "So how's your sister?" His sister was always a good topic and one that didn't have him shutting down in anger. So many thoughts kept going through Will's mind. There were so many questions, and concerns, and every other thing that could be plausible in this situation. Will finally decided though that he needed to just drop it. He needed to back away and take a breathe or two. Nell was seeing someone else, end of story. Time to be friends and go on. Or at least that was what he was going to try to do.
He was extremely greatful when she decided to change the subject. And not only that but she decided to change it to something that she knew that he'd be okay with talking about. He gave her a warm smile, "She's good, very good" he told her. "She's settling into her new position in the ministry. I keep telling her that she needs to quit working overtime and go out and meet some people, but stubborness runs in the family" He said with a laugh. "Sometimes I think she works too hard" |
