And what would you like it to do?"

ooc: This is where you get to be CREATIVE. Two options here:

1) Make up something like 'Wakefield's Sambata' that supposedly already exists in the Magical World that your charrie has heard of. They don't have to know what it does, or you can make that up too. They definitely shouldn't be able to actually DO it ;) we're just talking about hearing about something in passing. Creative license is fun.

2) Have your charrie think up a name for a dance magic spell. For example, if West was in class he might decide that it'd be cool if there was a spell called 'West's Wombat Hustle' which allows the caster/dancer to conjure up a Wombat.

Kat smiled. At least she got a smile on Cela's face, right? Hahaha. Yay Kat. This girl seemed to be so hyped of almost everything. She's so happy... unlike Kat though. But, yeah.

Kat huddled in the middle of the room with the other people in the seminar. Hoping she had warmed up enough, she stood their with her hyper feet listening to Cela. "Well, if there's a rain dance, there must be a sun dance" Good luck.

Cela thought it was a shame, "but most of them have some sort of meaning, even if you don't know what it is without looking it up, and the ones that don't totally usually have some kind of relationship with what they're supposed to do, or a personal sort of meaning to the spell inventor." So they only sounded like nonsense if you didn't bother learning about them. Cela totally suggested the learning. Totally. Or just knowing things, like she totally always did.

Oh a good questionnnn! Hmmm. She started a few jumping jacks while she considered.

"Well its not about brains. I know plenty of not-so-smart witches and wizards that can do wandless magic." They weren't even Ravenclaws or anything! "Its magical power, and practice is what helps there. Aaaand every spell in theory totally could but, the power of the spell is often weaker without a wand. Your wand sort of channels and amplifies what you do. Its like magic is a frequency in the air and your wand is the wireless that tunes you into the right airwaves." Totally. "And sometimes if your wireless doesn't work, you can still hear a little bit, by standing in the right place or on one leg or with a coat hanger above your head or something, and that's what wandless magic is like: finding those little ways to tune in, but it just might not be as clear and you'll have to strain harder to make all the words out."

The point was, Theo would appreciate an English variant to all of the spells, as opposed to Latin. He enjoyed learning parts of other languages but Latin was a whole new level of nonsense. He just nodded at Cela's explanation, as he gathered that there was no way round it, he just needed to study the incantations. Yawn. Booooring.

"Really? Does that mean that... I could do wandless magic? Me?" Theodore's little face lit up a bit. He nodded some more as Cela talked and talked and talked, and he did kind of understand. "So, you'd use your wand for more powerful spells, and wandless for the little stuff, right?" Like the Bat-Bogey Hex, maybe. Man, he really needed to learn that one.

And if he did it wandlessly, no one would even suspect a thing. Oh, the perks.

Back to the Dance Magic. The second year really had never heard of it before in his life, so he appreciated the opportunity to make up their own example. He stroked his imaginary beard for a moment, to think of his favourite dance move. Yea, he really wasn't the dancer type, so this was difficult.

But, ooooooooh, creative brain wave. Theodore raised his hand.

"Kinsley's Karate Krump." He said thoughtfully, "... which, I have decided, will be used as a defensive spell... putting your opponent into an imaginary head lock." And once they were in a muddle with the headlock, it made it very easy to KAYAHHHHHHHHHH. (Knock them over with your mad skills).

And win.

Is that what Cela meant by Dance Magic?

YES. FINALLY.

Abby stopped doing her stretches and listened carefully as Cela went on to ask a few more questions. Make up a dance magic spell? Hm. Interesting. Abby could be creative. Sometimes. At least, she hoped so.

The girl raised a hand. "If I had to make one up, it would be Abby's Amazing Moves." Yeah, not very creative. "And, that spell would make everyone around me admire my beauty. Like, they'd think I'm the only beautiful person on the planet." Abby said, with a dreamy sigh. If that were only possible. Not that THAT wasn't already happening but what if every single person in class threw compliments at her every second of every day? Wouldn't that be ah-ma-zing?

FearlessLeader19 09-24-2012 01:11 PM

Jory listened to all the responses before him. They all sounded like fun. He now put in some thought about his own.

He raised a hand. "Jory's Jetliner Jig,'' he said, amused at what he had come up with. "That would make a jet appear for those who want to travel very long distances quickly. Could be most suitable for family with young kids who dislike Portkeys or cannot apparate and disapparate.''

oh its Erik ok 09-24-2012 02:36 PM

Well , Nigel liked being creative. He was just going to have to come up with his own awesomely awesome dance. Which of course was going to be awesome.

Hmm. "Barrington's Batman Boogie". Nigel liked how it had three b;s in it. "It will suit me up in an awesome real batman suit and scare villains away."

Yes now that is an awesome dance. But the only problem is Nigel is terrible at dancing.

sweetpinkpixie 09-24-2012 04:44 PM

Off the walls? Well...good thing Kurumi hadn't actually been ON a wall...but now that she thought about it...she sort of wanted to. Especially when Cela told them that their entire body acted like a wand. Although, now that she got to think about the other responses she had given to others...that made sense.

What was it that Cela had literally JUST told Kurumi about strange wand movements? Yeah...she needed to think more that way and now how ridiculous she was going to look with her two left feet once they got to dancing.

Wandless magic...remember...you are here because of the wandless magic...

Pausing for a moment to think before raising her hand. "There is the Nobunaga Odori. I am not entirely sure what it does...but I've read that its movements mimic farmings working their fields. It might be related to Earth Magic."

*eyeing Richard lol*

Harlow started to panic. She didn't know she was going to have to actually dance. She thought this was going to be more of a spectator sport so to speak, but she did push herself off the wall to line up with everyone else.

She had actually took her time with her appearance today. Something she hadn't had the peace of mind to do in a long time. She had managed to wrestle her hair into a afro puff on the top of her head. It gave her at least 4 inches in height. Which still wasn't five feet tall, but she was getting there. Her green leggings and silver ribbed tee were clean and wrinkle free. She felt like a newly scrubbed galleon.

Harlow saw Richard and her face burned. 'Stop it', she commanded herself. 'He is so not into you,' she told herself. Obviously by the way he was eyeing the instructor he liked real woman. And Harlow was still eating at the kiddie table. She pulled herself out of her daydream and tried to pay attention to the class.

Well this was a question she could answer. She raised her hand, "My cousin Paris has this dance she calls the Mancatcher Mamba. She says that 90 percent of the time it works every time." Harlow shrugged. She was sure there was something wrong with that math, but judging from the parade of men Paris went through Harlow needed to work on her Arithmancy.

Don't keep it in a sleeve or pocket, because you're risking sitting on it or bending it funny. A holster keeps it safe."

Elliot nodded...listening intently to...this Celandine character..."Thanks. Some food for thought, eh?" she replied with a small smirk, "So...instead of thinking of wands as a clutch or a handicap, we should think of them as something that makes us...better able to channel magic?" Right? Elliot understood now.

And she officially liked the lady...she could get over the cheerfulness..heehee...

If Elliot had to invent...a dance magical spell...she thought...and thought...and thought...smiiiirk. She had just the one! "Elliot's Stupidity Draining Jig..." Jig. Heehee. Sounded like a word Elliot would NEVER use...but she just did! She took a deep breath, then continued, "SO you see, you do some dance moves and then point your hand at the said...'stupid' person...and all the stupidity drains out of them!" If only it really worked. Then she could perhaps make Soapy a passable person to converse with...hmppphhh!

Mmm...too lazy to quote...?

A tree hugger? Cassia wished that she hadn't found out that piece of info. She liked that Cela lady and hated to categorize her in the group of people who LIKE PLANTS. And well, Cassia wanted to know if Cela would still think that way if a plant tried to EAT her when she was young.

What? Plants are like Slytherins?!!? No they are NOT! Cassia wanted to correct the former Ravvie. And if this proves anything ,it proves that Ravenclaws ,even in the past years , were fooled by facts and things while Slytherins always figured out right away what to trust and what not to. Cassia wondered how many Ravvies died inspecting plants not knowing that they are deadly and dangerous and MEAN. Though it's usually the huffies job to die but eagles die too, no?

Anywayzz, pushing aside the difference in opinions Cassia listened to what was said next. Dance magic spell? That's fun to think of. The second-year stopped the stretching her hand fixed under her chin. She was thinking now.

After a while of concentrating and after many students spoke up, Cassia finally raised her hand excitedly, "Cassia casty crunchy candy!" long huh? Well it will require many dancing moves. "That'll be my dance spell and it'll conjure candy!" Though that part was kinda clear.

Holmesian Feline 09-24-2012 09:39 PM

Gideon continued stretching as the next question was posed to the class, the topic...wandless magic itself and doing magic without use of such a focuser in general. He listened, raising a slight eyebrowand perking up as the mention of Metamorphmagi and Animagin was made since that dealt with him. Sure when he was as good as his parents were and practiced animangi were it was wandless...Gideon had been working with his wand for now to work on getting it all correct until he was more comfortable with the magic.

Other answers were given and Gideon vaguely caught them but soon enough it was time to move. Stretching over obviously, the boy moving obediantly to form a line like Celand--Cela asked them to.Dances...he had no clue, even as his fellow classmates responded with ones that seemingly existed. Guess that left him in the create-yer-own section of the class population. "Perhaps the Flying Monkey..." he mused with a slight shrug. Could be a dance on the ground or on broomstick...right. New broom game right there.

"Ya, How come Batman doesn't dance anymore" Olivia exclaimed excitedly. It was a bit of a rehtorical question. But she remembered that batman used to dance in the early episodes of the series. So she had heard.

Dance magic and wandless magic sounded like the most useful magic Olivia could use. It would be so much funner and sneakier. She imagined herself sneaking up on her opponents, without uttering a word, and casting magic spells.

"Mine is a dance spell that causes the person to loose all their memories. I would call it, Olivia's Obliviation Dance". This would be awesome, because even if she looked stuipd while doing it, the person's memory would be erased, so they wouldn't even know she was there.

"Oh that is so cool!"
Celandine liked the sound of that and immediately her mind went off with the fairies and the flutterby bushes thinking of the possibilities. One thought brought her back. "But do be careful not to make a plant bloom out of season! Like what if you make one bloom at Christmas when it is supposed to bloom in June! It might wither and die." Sage nod. Even a gift like that could be used for bad things, see?

It waaaass cool and Sophie loved it! "Oh yes, miss, I know that." She had learned it the hard way, heh. Poker face. There were times when her mother would loooose her mind and yell at Sophie for having ruined her flowers. Her plants were like... her other babies. It was almost like they were Sophie's siblings! Eep!

But ooonto the next question! Sophie BEAMED and started thinking about it. She really had never heard of anything alike, so she would just have to make one up. "I like the sound of 'Colours And All That Jazz'!" EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Sounded cool! And Colourful! And dancy!

TakemetotheBurrow 09-24-2012 10:34 PM

Hmm. Dance magic sounded wicked, that was for sure. Ella loved to dance, mostly in the privacy of her room at home but still...dance was awesome. The third year smiled as she remembered Max catching her dancing during her first term, that was quite funny. She was glad he hadn't teased her or anything. Grin.

Because Ella had never heard of any Dance Magic spells, the badger decided to think of a dance she'd like to use. "I think Ella's Ice Cream Krump has a nice ring to it..." She announced thoughtfully, her head tilted to the side a bit. And when you did the dance perfectly you could make ice cream appear! BEAM. Besides, wasn't krumping like...flailing your body around all over the place? Ella was a PRO at flailing so she could totally do this dance.

Awarlesta Black 09-24-2012 11:03 PM

Awar tapped her chin, "I've heard of the Lembie's Lambada." She danced slightly as the dance came to her mind.

Awarlesta thought long and hard before coming up with, "AWAR'S AMAZING CONGA!" Maybe that was a little too loud...

That... was a hard one, and Vivi rubbed her bottom lip thoughtfully as she wracked her brain for instances of dance magic. Like Wakefield's Sambata, hmm? Her mother danced in the garden with her plants and in the library with her father, but ew, and Alena danced in the kitchen, but it wasn't magic-making.

Oh, oh! "What about the Flamma-Flamenco, Cel-an-dine?" She stomped her right foot forward and did a little arm flourish over her head with a grin. "My father knew a Potions Master who insisted on lighting his cauldron with it."

Sierra smirked. She really wanted to make up something called the Smush-a-Puffer, where...well, you know. Those Puffers just wouldn't stand a chance. She also didn't want to share that information with this Cela lady. She had a feeling that with the woman's enthusiasm and love for all of mankind, Sierra would be forced to hug a Puffer by the end of class.

NOPE.

So she sat back and started thinking about a dance that she would actually appreciate. Hmm... "What about Sierra's Phoenix Flames?" she suggested. "It just sounds cool." She shrugged "...but also, I think it'd be neat to dance yourself into some fake flames and then reappear somewhere else." It might be impossible, but it sounded impressive to her.

Aaaand there came the FUN part, and the very reason Louisa insisted on dragging Vickers along. The Ravenclaw girl wasn't that good at dancing but she sure liked to feel graceful and let some energy out, and Merlin knows she had a lot of that.

Vickers stayed silent all the while as the students suggested slash madeup different kinds of magic dancing. Some were funny, some were boring but NONE were about couples. Her mind drifted that way. "Maybe something like Cloud Nine Afloat. Two dancers, special waltzing and poof! They can hover over the ground. Like a powerful anti-gravity charm." Not like, flying. Nope. Louisa doesn't fly. But you know, something magical, not useful like conjuring stuff but magical all the same.

She could do some, of course, but it was just EASIER to not? Like, why would you unless you had to? And if she'd been able to do it when she was their age, maybe she'd not have been kidnapped by that horrible Hogs Head man.

"Well, Goblins less so than Elves, but you're totally right." Nod. Goblins totally needed wands to do what Wizards did, but they didn't to do what THEY did, which was totally different. And made perfect sense. In Celandine's brain.

"Okay SO one of the COOLEST kinds of wandless magic is.... dance magic! A lot of Dance Magic also has some really crazy incantations or rhymes that go along with it. That's the FUNcantations part. Basically what Dance Magic is, is a series of steps, sometimes really complicated, sometimes easier, that are in essence instead of the wand movement. So its like your whooooooole body is the wand." Shaaaake it out. She did jazz hands and a shimmy with great enthusiasm.

"Rain dances, are examples of this! And some of you might have heard of Wakefield's Sambata. That is an example of Dance Magic. And there are a BUNCH more. Can anyone think of any? Has anyone heard of any other particular dances that bring the magic? And if you haven't, what would you like to call a dance magic spell, if you got to make one up?

Wandless, non-verbal magic. The stuff Wizard dreams are made of. Yeah he hasnt even thought that far BUT having the former Ravenclaw Head Girl mention it out loud...

Heck why not, another goal to shoot for eh?

And he nodded his head at the Goblin-magic clarification. He didnt know the finer deets, mostly due to his limited exposures to goblins. Something to work on right?

And here comes the part he was kinda dreading. There was a part of him that kinda wanted to back into the wall when Cela called out the wallflowers and bade them to fall in line. Their whole body was a wand? So that means he's free to be all stiff and just let the magic course through him yeah?

Oh if only he could be so lucky.

But now she's started to speak about Wakefield's Sambata-- which he had never heard of-- and now he has started to break into a nervous sweat. Are they gonna dance now? Wait she was asking them what kind of dance they were likely to invent.

Gosh. He couldnt even do most regular dances much less invent one....

But it is a question and the gears in his head was spinning to come up with an answer "Uhm... the Sebastien's Sway of Solidarity?..." gosh who's Sebastien? He doesnt know but its certainly not him, and S just sounds better than V "... We lock arms and sway to the left and to the right and we bring World Peace. " He is soooo not making any sense.

Gotta find someone who makes sense...

Sarah had known about a dance. Her grandmother told her about the witchdoctors in Africa and the Shaman of the Khoi-san people who did things that were supossedly magic. Sarah doubted it though. So instead she made up her own dance magic, even though she did know of a real one. "I would make up a dance magic called Sarah's Sunshine Shuffle, it brings out the sunshine... we need it here in Britain". Her mother told her stories of growing up in Sunny South Africa and her grandmother echoed them. In South Africa the weather gives them like a six month summer, two month winter, two month spring and two month autumn! That is so cool! And it only rained in the summer... and it did not just rain... it stormed. But it least it was not cold when it rained. Sarah was sure that the reason why South Africans were so warm, was because of their warm weather, some British people, or most were so cold.. that was probably because they let the coldness of the weather get into their hearts.

"Oh that sounds lovely! And just think how much good it could do for plants and things and people's moods too!" Then everyone would be cheerful like Celandine, yup.

Kat huddled in the middle of the room with the other people in the seminar. Hoping she had warmed up enough, she stood their with her hyper feet listening to Cela. "Well, if there's a rain dance, there must be a sun dance" Good luck.

Cela laughed. "That is great logic." Really it was. She'd guess that it would be more of a no-rain dance than a sun dance though, since sun was more like an absence of bad juju weather than the presence of sun.

"You sure could, if you want to learn you could do anything!" And wasn't he just an adorable ambitious little snake? N'aww.

"Ooooh a defensive one! You could use a spell like that to get away from bad people, or in the dueling arena!"

"That would be hard but useful! You'd have to mess with their minds to make them think you're the only beautiful person."
Not that Cela was implying otherwise. At least not intentionally. And besides, what use would she have for a spell like that? Still it was... "Creative!"

A jet? One of those muggle things? Cela had a moment of looking a bit puzzled but then she nodded in realisation. "Like an air-up-plane!" Its what it was right? "That's how innovations happen! Creative idea!"

Yes now that is an awesome dance. But the only problem is Nigel is terrible at dancing.

A bat man suit? More puzzlement from Celandine. She was, of course, picturing a giant BAT.

"It would have to be a pretty scary bat!"
She said enthusiastically all the same.

"That sounds interesting!" Celandine was enthusiastic with her nods. "Earth Magic is exciting! Don't you just love growing things?" Of course! Who didn't?

Cela perked up.

Somehow it WAS possible for Celandine Kettleburn to perk up even more.

"Paris Greenwood?" Paris caught men? Celandine wondered why one would want to --they were always underfoot after all-- but nodded all the same. Dancing totally WAS a way to rope them in. Didn't even need to be magic. "Thanks for sharing!" It had a ring to it right? Mancatcher Mamba? She wondered if it would work on a man that had already been caught? As in, her Copernicus of course. Teehee.

If only it really worked. Then she could perhaps make Soapy a passable person to converse with...hmppphhh!

"Yup! Exactly right!" Could she give points for figuring stuff out? Teehee. Cela would count that in the totalling after all the fun stuff was over.

"Oh that would be lovely!" Just think of how many Gryffindors they could help pass their OWLs! Elliot here would do the whole WORLD a favour!

"Oh that's my FAVOURITE so far." Celandine winked theatrically. "I used to eat an awful lot of candy." There might even have still been stashes around the castle, if Clifford Carden hadn't found and eaten them all.

"There are flying monkeys at the Cryptozoo in Minsk!" Had he seen them? Was that where he got the idea from? She'd taken her children there recently actually. A day at the zoo was always a lot of fun!

"I've never met a Bat Man." Cela said gravely. "But if I ever do, I'll be sure to ask!" Y U NO dance no mo, man who is bat?

The suggested dance perked her up again of course. "It'd be a lot more fun to do than Obliviate, that's for sure!"

Because Ella had never heard of any Dance Magic spells, the badger decided to think of a dance she'd like to use. "I think Ella's Ice Cream Krump has a nice ring to it..." Wait...

Harlow blinked at the instructor. How was it possible she could have turned her smile up another watt? She was going to need sunblock of Ms. Cela's smile burned any brighter. "Yes ma'am. Paris Greenwood. Do you know my cousin?" She asked. She shouldn't be surprised. Paris knew a lot of people and was always the eye of the storm.

Before she could ask Ms. Cela what sort of toothpaste she used the woman was hopping and wiggling around like she was showing them the potty dance that her little sisters did so well. Harlow couldn't help the giggle that escaped her lips. Nor could she hid the blush on her cheeks at the behind wiggle.

Harlow hopped on her left foot. She wobbled and face planted into the person in front of her as she did so. She pushed herself off the person and fell back onto her own behind "Oh I'm sorry." she said her face burning.

Harlow was not the graceful swan that her ballerina cousin Willow was. She was more of a writer than a dancer, and this class was going to show it.

Well, at least she likes Candy. That had to make up for the tree-huger impression. And she liked her dance spell, too . The lady has a taste and a good mind for sure. Probably that was for being a Ravenclaw too. The claws were good at thinking. Though they think a lot...anyway.

It was dancing time!

Cassia doesn't like dancing just because it is dancing! She likes it because it involves being careless and hyper. And when you're dancing you shut your brain down and stop thinking. Which actually what Cassia does most of the time, dancing or not.

So squaring her shoulders and getting ready to DANCE. Cassia watched Cela's movements closely. It seemed easy and cool. Cassia hopped on her left foot and clapped above her head. She fought the urge not to giggle because it was so fun. But giggling isn't so appropriate during classes, right? And Cassia knew about manners and politeness.

Then just like Celandine ,Cassia wiggled her back and kicked out her right leg in front of her. Eeeeeep! That was so fun! But what will happen After they repeat them?

kayquilz 09-26-2012 07:26 PM

Um...well, Elliot watched the woman dancing...and...

She knew...this class was going to be difficult for her. She had NO groove, no dancing skills, and she couldn;t shake her...behind. No. That was NOT happening. There was a reason she was the Morganzo child that played the piano and didn't dance. That was Sam's job! She, however, tried to pay close attention to the moves...Merlin...this was going to be epicly HARD.

She hopped to the right, but clapped her hands a little late...then she wiggled her behind...and kicked out? IT all looked very awkward on Elliot. And her timing was horrendous. Merlin. The spell was going to go all wrong...she just knew it. She would set fire to the castle...maybe she should move closer to the puffs? Set some of them on fire instead...she inched a little closer to Soapy...hmm...this could be fun...

Sophie smiled and clapped as Ms Cela did the jazz hands to her dance thing name. Heh! This woman was coool! She was so hyper and nice! Sophie liked her!

When the older witch turned around, Sophie knew they would get started! YAAAAAAY! The brunette was bouncing while she watched Celandine demonstrating the daance mooves. She was so excited! And now it was their turn!!

Sophie hopped as hiigh as possible on her left foot and clapped, but before she could do anything else, someone bumped into her and actually pushed her fowards! "Gaahhh!!" The badger fell down on her knees and hands and quickly looked back. She didn't know the girl that was apologizing. "It's okay, really!" Sophie said cheerfully as she jumped up and held her hand out to help the girl up. "I'm Sophie!" They didn't know each other yet, did they?

"And you'll find out what it does once we get to that point. SO if you're all ready, lets go!" Cela turned around so that her back was to the students, easier to follow that way.

She hopped on her left foot to the left and at the same time clapped her hands in the air above her head, then wiggled her behind and kicked her right leg out in front of her.

"That's the first part. Lets try it together, try to get your hops and kicks as high as possible and clap like you mean it!"
Enthusiasm, she had it. Little wonder she'd once been a one girl cheerleading squad for the entire Ravenclaw Quidditch team.

Ella nodded enthusiastically, bouncing a bit. "Yes! Any flavour at all!" BEAM. There were just TOO many delicious ice cream flavours out there to limit it to one. ...Though if she had to, it would definitely be Oreo!

...

Oh! So they were going to actually dance now? Brilliant. Ella shook out her arms and legs, loosening up before turning her attention to Cela. The steps wouldn't be too hard, yeah?

Blink.Blink. Ummm...

Ella could do this. She totally could. The third year hopped on her left foot to the left, though when she lifted her hands above her head to clap, she wobbled and fell forwards a bit. UGH. Not cool. Shaking it off, the badger tried again. Standing on her left foot, she hopped to the left and managed to clap above her head. BEAM. Then came the behind wiggling...which Ella was a bit uncomfortable with. She wasn't exactly one to wiggle her behind, especially not in class. She decided to give it a go anyway, though. For educational purposes and all that. So...Ella wiggled her bottom and then kicked her right leg out in front of her, trying to make it go high as Cela had instructed. Hm...now to put it all together.

Hop!Clap...erm.

Hop!Clap.Wiggle...wobble. EPP.

Hop!Clap.Wiggle.Kick.

Of course the girl was taller than her by a couple of inches in fact. "I'm really sorry." she said again. Manners cost nothing and when you basically drove the top of your head into someone else's behind it was only proper to apologize more than once. Harlow might send the girl a Christmas gift too. This was uncharted territory.

Headbutting would forever take on a new meaning for her.

Nigel was sure she was thinking about an actual bat. Which was just wring. Even though he would look really scary in a real bat suit. But who hasn't hear of Batman, honestly. Nigel was thinking about faking an injury just to get out of dancing. Nigel could not dance. There no way around it.

But he would suffer through if he got to do his dance because he really wants to wear batman's suit.

Sarah smiled when the instructor said that she liked her idea...
Then the dancing part...
Sarah tried.. yes she really did try. It was hard at first... she seemed to have difficulty following instructions and then finally to her great delight she did it/
HOP (that was easy, she had spring in her feet)
CLAP
and then came the wiggle part. Princesses don't wiggle right? Her mom found wiggling inappropiate so she did a tiny wiggle. Her mom said it draws inappropiate attention to a girl if she wiggles
and then the KICK... that was easy... she had learned to defend hersef from her brothers and was very good and kicking... and besides she was naturally flexible and had warmed up!
again

Vicky too :33

Louisa beamed at Vickers when he seemed to sort of stare at her as she answered. Good thing he was taking this as seriously as he usually took the other classes, considering that he was dragged into it. However, the girl's attention was drawn to Cela again as she announced the start of their dancing part of this seminar. Louisa's face must've showed most of her excitement. She did know how to dance, she went to a couple of dancing clubs and in Spain last summer she forced Jonathan into the dancing ring.

....

... that was the dance? Oh no, part of it. Phew. Chuckling at the silly moves, Louisa nudged Vickers with her elbow before she hopped to her right, clapped, wiggled her 'behind', aaaaaaaand... giggled. Really this behind wiggle was so funny, she couldn't help but imagining all the students in their bunny outfit wiggling their little cute tails.

Anywhooooo.. "Let's start together," she whispered to Vickers, nudging him again, grinning and barely containing her giggles. She timed it so that they moved when Cela was at the top; Hop, clap, wiggle bum, giggle and shoot leg up in the air.... as far as Louisa could do this, she used Vickers as her support in the couple first kicks.

This actually felt good! HOP, WIGGLE, KICK, HOP, WIGGLE, KICK... the clap was sometimes forgotten but Louisa hastily clapped when it hit her, her timing being awfully bad sometimes. Oopsies.

"Lets all line up now! Off the wall, wallflowers! Out of the corners! Come stand out here in front of meeee with a bit of space around you so you don't stand on anyone's toes once we get started. I hope you're all warmed up!" Yeah! Enthusiasm!

Belle decided to make her dance name as, Belle's Beautiful Prances. Yeah that sounded clever and unique. She was excited to start creating her own dances and learning them with magic.

Belle was laughing at what the professor was doing. It looked silly but if it got the job done, it got the job done. Belle did what she was told. She hopped on her left foot to the left and at the same time clapped her hands in the air above her head, then wiggled her behind and kicked her right leg out in front of her. As she followed the professor, she tried to do it herself.

CLAP. Hop. Kick. Wiggle? No no no that is not right.

Wiggle Kick. Hop. Clap? Nope not it!

HOP. CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK!

Now that's it! Belle was getting the hang of it and her heart rate was pumping. She was feeling the workout.

So now there was dancing. Hmm. Vivi paused to pull up her knee socks, casting a glance at her classmates from through the braid that fell across her cheek. Some of them were jumping right in, and while they looked a little ridiculous *ahem*, at least they were trying and having a good time.

Some of them still looked terrified.

Sighing the heavy sigh of the martyr, Vivi hopped and clapped. Wiggled her bum like a ridiculous bunny. And kick. Lucky for her, she had all those cotillion dance lessons, which at least meant she could follow a beat and keep to the steps as they were demonstrated.

More steps? Shuffle? Point? WHAT DID THIS SPELL DO THAT IT TOOK ALL THIS EFFORT?

HOP HOP CLAP CLAP. Wiiiiiiiiiggle. She glanced around to see if anyone was watching the ridiculous wiggle. No? KICK. Hello, class? This is what awesome looked like when it deigned to dance.

Cela, Louisa and ALL of youses

See this is the reason why he loved talking to Ravenclaws other than he is one himself, they will always be able to make sense of even the most senseless things. Indeed locking arms-- where you cant shoot/throw/punch anybody or anything= World Peace. Totally!

But as the former Hogwartian turned around and started to do the dance steps this Ravenclaw could only just stand and stare....

You.Have.Got.To.Be.Kidding.Me. :whaa:

For the next few seconds all he could do was stand dumbly, mouth agape. He has to hop and clap almost simultaneously? And forget the bum wriggling-- there is no physical way this boy could even get his hips to move like that.

But forget about wiggling his bum. Why should he care if he could get it done at all when every female in the room is moving theirs oh so well?

..Specially this particular red-head that is totally enjoying herself?

He felt Louisa's nudge and clumsily tried to follow suit. He didnt skip-- he side-stepped-- toward the wrong direction. But he did clap, although instead of something joyous it looked like he was trying to catch a fly. And kicking? With his gracefulness and long legs? Does Cela want to have her class filled with injuries or something?

Now there was something about shuffling and pointing. Yeah he could do that. So he shuffled his wrong foot forward and started to point with those long arms. Lets hope he didnt take someone's eye out with that.

Feeling rather awkward, Jory began to follow the instructions. He wasn't a fan of dancing. He began hopping on his left foot, just as was demonstrated, to the left, and with his arms stretched out fully above him, he clapped. Next came the wiggle.

He thought he did the kicking part the best for he kicked his right foot out with almost all his might. As his he were about to kick in a door.

Awarlesta Black 09-27-2012 05:25 AM

Awar hopped onto her left foot, clapped above her head, wiggled her tush, and kicked.

She repeated it various times.
Hop. Clap. Wiggle. Kick!

She laughed and then shuffled forward, pointing at the ground and shaking her tush a little to an imaginary beat.

Kurumi hadn't actually given much thought into Earth Magic until just now. She knew very little about it other than what the name obviously implied. Maybe she could ask Professor Bentley about it some time.

Minus all the dancing that is.

Oh no. It was beginning. Never mind. Kurumi was glad that Lewis wasn't in this seminar because the two of them like this would have made them both feel more awkward. So..nope...this was much better.

Only Kurumi ended up freezing when she saw just HOW peppy and full of spunk Cela was. Not that Kurumi had expected her to suddenly become a troll or anything of that sort. It was just...slightly nerve wrecking. O perhaps some of her spunk would rub off on the Gryffindor?

Awkwardly...and with very small movements. Kurumi hopped, barely an inch, an clapped a pathetic golf clap, sort of wiggled, and kicked.

Her eyes drifted around the room as she repeated things again, catching sight of Vivi throwing a whole lot more of herself into it than Kurumi had...which sort of surprised her a little. She had always thought the Ravenclaw was more...practical?

Wait...what was she thinking? Vivi had dressed up during the meeting Selina had held in Hogsmeade for her missing bat.

Okay...time to get inspired...

Taking a much larger hop and a louder clap this time, Kurumi wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggled her way closer to Vivi and ending up kicking in unison with Vivi at the final step. "Help me not feel so awkward about this?" Kurumi whispered as she began to hop again.

See this was why they had to warm up!

Just as she was about to kick again, loosening up a little now that she was with a friend, Kurumi looked back at Cela when she showed them the next step.

Yeah...this was nothing like traditional Japanese dance. Meep.

Kicking again - the biggest she had thus far actually, bringing her foot up to almost waist height - Kurumi tapped the other foot when her leg was brought down, doing a quick change of balance before rolling onto the ball of the same foot and slowly and self consciously swirled her left leg around until her legs were crossed...and slightly tangled up around the other.

Erm...oops?

Stumbling and untangling her legs a little, Kurumi couldn't help but giggle a little. She really had to look ridiculous right now...but, hadn't that been part of Cela's response to her earlier? Making ridiculous things have meaning so that they made sense? That was...part of the challenge, yes?

Well...CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! Sort of.

Hopping and clapping again, Kurumi put in a little more wiggling from her hips and then a bigger kick before adding on the rest of the steps they had just been shown. Yes, she still felt incredibly self conscious, but her body was loosening up and she was getting into it more.

No, scratch that. Her body had already been lose. It was her mind that was loosening up now and allowing her to, well, not feel embarrassed.

Actually...Kurumi was really liking the swinging bit of this...it was probably her favorite part. SWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!

She nodded as the girl fell back into the line beside her. Well she guessed she had made a new friend. Harlow clapped then hopped. "Oh crap." She didn't have the sequence right. This was going to take awhile. She hopped then kicked then clapped. "Oh man," this was not good.

And oh great the class was moving on and she still couldn't hop, skip and shake a tail feather.

This lady was funny. Like really funny. Indy was having lots of giggles. Cela had to be the most super cool Ravenclaw ever. Although Indy wasn't too sure she could manage the dance. It looked weird, and Indy wasn't that much of a dancy person. The wiggle bit was quite fun though. Indy liked wiggling about. How cool was this. Lots of awesome students dancing around and looking like complete idiots. How having a camera would be so much fun right now. Spike was probably glad that he didn't come. She could not imagine her brother doing this kind of dancing at all. Although it would seem like something Spike would do. It'd probably cheer him up a ton too.

Ooh. Now they were tapping. Tap tap tap tap. Ooh. That was fun. Now Ball and swingg. Ooh. That made her leg feel funny. Maybe not so much swinging. This was fun. She would totally be doing this little thing all over the castle from now on.

HOP, clap, wiggle aaaaand kick.. hop, clap.. Louisa had to grin sideways at the boy struggling beside her. Soon came the next step! Shuffle and pointing, shouldn't be too hard. She started again, hop clapping, wiggle, kick, shuffle and pointing. And again! She would miss a couple of claps and mix kick and shuffle together buuut it was very close to what Cela was demonstrating.

Soon enough there was more! Louisa was panting by now but she was also grinning, so nothing to worry about. This third step though needed its separate training. Louisa paused and very intently focused on her feet. "Tap right foot.." TAP. "..swing..." leaning on the ball of that foot, she swung her left leg over her right one aaaaand done. Now faster! TAP, BALL, SWING! TAP, BALL, SWING! TAP, BALL, SWING! TAP, BALL, SWING!

Okay she got it. Back from the top!

Hop clap, WIGGLE, kiiiiick..erm.. oops.
Hop clap, WIGGLE, kiiiiick, shuffle, pointing...uhh... GAH!
Hop clap, WIGGLE, kiiiiick, shuffle, pointing, tap, swiiiiiing! YES!

Using the same foot (it was the right... all the others seemed to be using the same foot) she tapped itc on the ball of her foot and she swung her left foot.

An then she put it all together. This was getting tiring... maybe she should take more jogs around

HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.

Aaaand agaiiiin!

HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.

Done warming up. Juliet stood up as the Hogwarts' alumna started getting into her stepping. This should be fun, dancing that is. Dancing is always a joy, well it is to Juliet. She then stretched her hands one more time before she officially started the dance magic that she had been talking about a while ago.

So it's a hop on left and clap, hands in the air. Juliet followed her, somehow in the same pace as her. Then its wiggle and right leg out. Okay. Juliet did fairly on these stepping. It's easy since it's the first steps to do. That's understandable. Now to try it on her own.

This was getting crazy. Nigel was so lucky he stretched before he started this. He probably would have torn something if he just started dancing.

HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.
Shuffle!pointinggggg!
Tap!Ball. Swwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!

Nigel had no idea how he was doing this but for some reason it was working.

TakemetotheBurrow 09-27-2012 03:22 PM

Alright, Ells was totally getting the hang of this. It really wasn't that bad once she'd practiced a couple of times. The third year was even managing to kick higher and harder during the steps, feeling a bit more confident now that she had the moves memorized.

Hop!Clap.Wiggle.Kick. ... Hop!Clap.Wiggle.Kick. ...

Blink.Blink.

Wait! There was more?

The badger smiled at Cela, really appreciating her reassuring words. She knew she wasn't the best dancer around, but at least she was still having fun. AND she hadn't even fallen over or anything! That was a major accomplishment for Ella.

With a deep breath, the third year decided to add on the new steps to the ones she already knew how to do. Best to get the whole thing going, yeah? And a 1, and a 2, and a 1,2,3,4

Wait...what? Ella stopped her dancing to watch this Tap!Ball. Swingggg move. EEP! It looked...a little complicated. The third year decided to try and get that down before adding it all together. She could totally do this, yeah? Yeah!

She tapped her right foot on the ground, then continued to stay on the ball of that foot. Then Ella swung her left foot around, though with a little too much force...

O_____O

One second she was dancing, the next the third year was on the ground, legs kicked out in front of her. WHOOPS. So much for that not falling thing. And nobody saw that, right? RIGHT?

Standing up again, the badger kept at it. She was determined to get this right. Tap!ball...swing. Hey! Not bad! Tap!ball.Swing. BEAM! Tap!ball. Swingg!

Brilliant! Now to put it all together.

*snort* we are watching you Ella!

Somewhere between her third or fourth repeat of the dance...Kurumi noticed something. Something that made her cheeks raise in color and for her to awkwardly shuffle a little towards the back of the room to just watch.

Oh....ooooooooooops....

She had missed a step. No wonder she was even more off balance.

Watching Ella for a moment, Kurumi began to mimic the Hufflepuff's movements, starting completely over with the whole hopping and the clapping and the wiggling and the kicking and the...oooooooh, here is what she had missed.

Right foot down and a shuffle forward with fingers down as well for one...two...three...four little half steps. Got it. Probably.

Just to be sure though...Kurumi was going to keep standing here behind Ella and do things at the same time she was until the Gryffindor had it memorized.

FearlessLeader19 09-27-2012 04:00 PM

Jory grinned. "Thank you,'' he said. He found kicking fun. Onto the next steps.

He put his right foot and began shuffling forward. It reminded him of a song by the muggle band LMFAO. And his fingers down, he took the four half steps.

Hop! Clap! Wiggle And Kick…. Hop! Clap! Wiggle And Kick….
Cassia had memorized the movements by heart now. Moves are so easy to remember unlike names, spells, plant names..etc etc.
she was enjoying how everyone was hopping, clapping and that kinda thing. Hehee even older students.

And now to the next moves.

Cassia hopped starting over to add the new moves. Clap! Wiggle aaaand kick. She then put her foot down imitating Cela. Then Shuuufffffffle. Then pointing!

Hop! Clap! Wiggle And Kick theeeeen shuuuufffle. Pointing!

Breath..Breath..Wow Cassia was almost out of breath and she stretched well! She needed to make sure that she stayed fit.

Cassia nodded at no one as she tapped on her right foot. Still on the ball of her foot she swung her left foot. She kinda lost her balance causing her to stiiiiiiiir. She bent forward her legs crossed and flapped with her arms trying not to fall face down. Eeeeep! She didn't fall!

Uncrossing her legs she took a deep breath and pushed her bangs away from her eyes. From the beginning now.

Hop. Clap. Wiggle .Kick…..shufffle. pooointinggg. Tap aaaaand Swing! AGAIN!

Hoop and Clap
Wiggle then kick and shuffle. Pointing! Tab your foot . SWING. That was FUN!!

And oh great the class was moving on and she still couldn't hop, skip and shake a tail feather.

"You can do it!"
Celandine encouraged enthusiastically. "Don't overthink it too much, just feeeeeeeeel it. I'll help you after we grab all the steps together, if you like, but I think you'll just be fine!"

Sarah did so... it was so much easier to do things step by step. She brought her right foot across, her left foot sliding eagerly behind and then she was stuck.. how does one jazz their hands?

She shrugged and just copied the instructor

She picked up the rhythm again,

HOP! CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.

Ella suddenly felt like someone was watching her. EEP. Had they seen her fall over? The small blonde slowly looked around, noting the older lion who was following her lead dance-wise. BLUSH. She'd embarrassed herself in front of Kurumi? Groan. That wasn't good. Ells looked up to the older girl and felt like a complete idiot. Oh well, at least Kurumi hadn't laughed at her or anything. Thankfully for Ella, Kurumi had been more focused on her own feet and DID NOT notice that the Hufflepuff had fallen down. Had she, the Gryffindor would have offered to help her up or something. As it were though, Kurumi was just content to watch her movements since she seemed to know more about what she was doing than Kurumi did.

Were those like spirit fingers? Kurumi didn't really have spirit fingers so if she didn't have spirit fingers it was probably going to be hard for her to have jazz hands, right?

And...had they been told what this dance magic did? Or had she simply forgotten while trying to remember all these steps?!

Swinging her foot again, Kurumi applied the last steps of the dance - just not nearly as big as Cela had demonstrated - and then began the dance again.

And just when Kurumi was soooooooooort of getting the whole jazz hand bit down - and by sort of we really mean not at all - more was being added. Pivoting wasn't too bad and Kurumi managed that almost effortlessly...

It was this whole power fist thing that was throwing her. Erm, it wasn't really a power fist what Kurumi had just done - more of an awkward swat really.

Oh, commiseration. Perfect. Vivi turned slightly so that she could still see Cela, but so that she could also see Kurumi, and she pointed at the girl's eyes and then at her own. Easy as.

"Don't worry about anyone in here but Cela and me. Cela already wants to think you're completely awesome, and I couldn't look any more or less ridiculous than you do. So we'll just do this together and pretend no one else is watching. Because they're not dancing as well as us, anyway, and they feel just as self-conscious. More. Because we're awesome." Vivi put her hands up to create a tunnel around her eyes and then started the dance again.

HOP!CLAP (no clapping 'cause of the hands, but MENTAL clapping!). Wiggle, complete with broad grin at Kurumi. Kick.
Shuffle!point... and so on.

Jory watched im amusement as the others started to do the last set of moves. One Ravenclaw boy fell flat on the floor.

He started to do the pivot part. Halfway through, he nearly lost his balance. "Woah!'' he thought. "That was close.'' He managed to complete the 180 degrees and just like the kick, he used all his might and gave a great pump in the air.

And... from the to now!

Hop! Clap! Wiggle! Kick!
Shuffle!pointing!
Tap!Ball! Swing!
Jazz! hands!Step and Slide!
Pivot and fist!

Thin layer of sweat started to form on Cassia's forehead. Wow. This was a good exercise indeed. While doing the moves the second-year's brain started imagining how would it be if all spells needed dance moves. Well, all wizards and witches will be fit for sure and probably when they got older it's be harder to perform magic at required fitness. Cassia imagined her grandmother doing those moves, probably the old woman would have preferred being a muggle that jumping and hopping like that. Tehe.

Hop. Claaap. Wiggle .Kick…..shufffle. pointinggg. Tap aaaaand Swing!

Cassia tried repeating the moves while keeping an eye on Cela demonstrating the next moves. Jazz hands she could do! She started jazzing with her hands and glanced down at her own feet. Big step to the right. It wasn't as big as Cela's but that was because Cela was taller. Then she slid her left foot while JAZZING.

The second-year tried to guess what those dance moves do but she as too focusing on her moves and couldn't think of anything else. Cela would tell them next.

LAST one.

And it was a cool one. Cassia liked pivoting and turning around and that kinda stuff. When she dances randomly most of her moves would be turning , pivoting and moving in circles.

Cassia shifted her weight on her right foot and pivoted gracefully facing the side she had her back to before. And fist pump!
Now from the top.

HOoOp. ClaAap. Wiggle then KICK. Shuffle, poinnntting!
Tap..swwwiiiiing.
Jazz hands aaand step then sliiiiiiide.
Finally Pivot and fist pump.

Eeeep. So fun for the twelve-years old.

Then she did it again from the beginning.. although she was thirsty so she turned to the back of the room and made sire no one saw as she cast argumenti with her wand and let the water jet into her mouth... yummy. And no one saw thankfully. She did notmind ppl seing she just did not want to loose points you see.

"That's all the steps everyone!" Cela clapped a few times and waited for everyone to look at her before adding, "What we are learning to do today is called Substitutiary Locomotion. There are other ways to do it of course, but nothing near as fun as this!" Some of the Muggleborn kids might know what the next part was, if they were up on their 100 year old Muggle films, since elements of it had been included in one,

"The incantation is Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee, which we'll repeat, at a rhythm, while we do the steps!" Yup! "But before we do, does anyone know what Substitutiary Locomotion is? And if you don't know, take a guess! Oh and there's water on the table, and orange wedges there for anyone that wants a refreshment before we tackle the spell!"

She went over to one of the cubbies and took out a stack of papers.... which she passed out too. Upon which was a map of the steps for the spell, along with the incantation written down.

ooc: :shifty: youtube + 'substitutiary locomotion' will set you freeeee. That clip from the 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks' movie is pretty much what we are doing except with added dance moves. ;) Cela will provide some more details about the Disney connection too. Guesses about what substitutiary locomotion is/does are totally encouraged. Basically if you don't think your charrie will know about it, then have them take a stab. You'll get more points for creativity and participation than just being right for the sake of being right :) Elsewise feel free to RP your charrie getting water or oranges and looking over the handout :) as long as you're doing something you're doing great

Locomotion means to move.. doesn't it? Well Sarah will think about it later. It was hard to think on a an empty stomach. First wiping her chin, dripping with water with her robe she made her way over to the refreshments and took one orange. She took the usually eaten bit and it. No Sarah ate apple cores but not orange peels. She ate Apple cores coz she did not like to waste you see... yet orange peels were just gross (she had tried them.. she did not like hard things, the skin was too tough). She TRIED really hard to to make a mess, even though her hands were all sticky and stuff. Then she took another orange wedge... and another... and another... then she looked guiltily around... There is was a few left... so Sarah just did the duplicating charm on them.

Not wanting to be seen near the orange table she went to get a drink, poured herself one CAREFULLY... she did not want to spill you see then she drank it contently. Now she could think.
Locomotive meant to move or something. Substitutiary... perhaps that meant to substitute? Which means to fill in something for some one.. Wait... she had watched this before at Grandma's house... it was on VIDEO CASSETTE! She blurted out"giving life to things without".. yeah there was a song to it:
Treguna Mekoides and Trecorum Satis Dee
Substitutiary locomotion
Mystic power that's far beyond the wildest notion
It's so weird, so feared, yet wonderful to see
Substitutiary locomotion come to me

That is where she had heard it before. She better tell father that movies could be useful and intelligent.. why it helped her in school. Wait, her dad was not meant to know that she had watched that movie at Granny's house. Father said that watching movies and television was only for old people that had nothing better to do in their lives... Yet wahat father does not know won't hurt him... or mother for that matter.

Well...Kurumi felt like a plimpy out of water...even after Vivi's words of encouragement. Cela already wants to think you're completely awesome. Nice words...but that really was all they were. Kurumi didn't think she was awesome. No, wait, scratch that. She KNEW she wasn't awesome at this, so it really didn't matter was Cela thought.

No offense or anything, Cela.

Vivi on the other hand....yes, she did look ridiculous and clearly felt that she looked so, so that was on par with Kurumi and she could work with that. "Awesome...right....awesome..." she repeated, nodding her head as though doing so would actually convince her. Heh, not really. "I can be awesome at being awkward," she ended up laughing as the pair of them continued to kick and tap, and swirl, and pivot, and whatever all was involved in this.

"Make up words? You mean like...make up a song?" Cause she was confused enough as it was, although things were beginning to settle in. "Or...just chant the movements?" She could do that.

Pausing for a moment to remove some sweat from her brow, Kurumi looked over when Cela gave them the incantation. Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee? Bliiiiiiiiiiiiiiink. That...was sort of long and...sounded like Latin? Erm, some of it sounded like Latin. Maybe.

Which is why Kurumi gave up any hope of trying to figure out what it could possibly mean. Leave the Latin stuff to Selina. Kurumi was a lost cause.

As for the other half of what Cela had said...that Kurumi could think on for a moment. Substitutiary Locomotion.... The locomotion part of that was obvious enough - movement. If it was like the Locomotor Charm, it meant animating something. Something inanimate. As for the substitutiary...erm...that word meant...erm...replacing. Right? A uniform replacement of sorts. So.... replacement motion?

That was just sort of confusing her a little. Unless....

Hand up! "Cela, is this...related to the Locomotor Charm? Where we, um, animate something that has been inanimate and...maybe...our movements replace an object's inanimate ones?" Just to try and throw some of her thoughts into verbal ones.

Did that mean that they would swap?! Like...if they took the suits of armor and did this dance...that they would become animate for a time while they froze?

Kurumi couldn't deal with more freezing....

Oh, wait! Orange wedges? Don't mind if we do!

Emzily 09-28-2012 05:40 PM

*catches up* All the steps are here. ;-)

HOP. WIGGLE. Oh no, it was clap first.

HOP. CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.

Theodore really hated dancing. And whenever he got too engrossed in it, he always got that terrible sense of determination. He HAD to get these steps right, or else there would be trouble. An angry Theo, basically.

The next part was easy enough. The second year did a shuffle forwards, then pointed at the ground for FOUR steps.

Hop. Clap. Wiggle. Kick. Shuffle. Pointage.

THIS WAS TOO MUCH TO REMEMBER. Theo shut his eyes tightly in frustration for a second, then listened to the MORE steps.

Tap, taaappppp..... but as soon as the swing part was introduced, that's when the boy got a little bit wobbly. He tried, and had to stop himself from tumbling forwards. It was a rather dramatic swing after all. Once his swung foot was on the ground, he slid his other foot to meet it..

AND JAZZ HANDS.

Why couldn't it all be as easy as Jazz Hands?

One more step. Theo made a loud breath, cos this exercise was really taking all of his energy away.. It didn't help that he was a naturally unhealthy kid.... But he pivoted into a 180-ish turn, aaaand.. FIST PUMP. That had to be the easiest part for him so far.

Hop. Clap. Wiggle. Kick. Shuffle. Pointage. Tap. Swing. Jazz hands. Pivot. FIST PUMP.

Once it was all over, Theodore slouched in his stance as he listened to the incantation part. HUHHHH? It was such a mouthful! And even though Cela said muggleborns may know about the 'substitutiary locomotion', he sure didn't, but he'd take a guess for sure. "Well........ I heard a song once by a lady and it goes..." He paused, YES, he was going to sing this out loud. "Come on, come on, dooooo the locomotion with meeeee." It was quite a famous song, so he didn't feel the need to sing any more.

Anyway. WAAAAAAAAAATERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.... The boy rushed on over, and drank a whole two cups full. Exercising was thirsty stuff. His hand out was on the side, but he wasn't paying much attention to it just yet.

TakemetotheBurrow 09-28-2012 06:16 PM

They were done with the steps? BEAM. Ella had done it, mastered them without injuring herself or anyone else! Brilliant! Oh, and this whole thing was called the Substitutiary Locomotion? Hm. Ella had never heard of that before.

Didsomeonesayrefreshments? Grin. Ella headed over to get herself some water and an orange wedge while she thought over what Substitutiary Locomotion meant. Substitutiary sounded like substitute. So...this whole dance was just kind of taking the place of something else, yeah? As for Locomotion...that was movement. So erm...the dance was a substitute for um...a way to make things move? Hey! That made sense. Hand raised, the badger tried to explain what she was thinking. "I um..well I think that the dancing is a substitute way to make things move? Like maybe a substitute for a movement charm or something..." That sounded legit, yeah?

Cassirin 09-29-2012 04:06 AM

Hmm, water? Don't mind if I dooooo. Vivi left the dancing group and headed to the table with water and snackies. She'd prefer a more substantial snack, but perhaps Cela knew what was best - no one was going to throw up orange wedges.

She put a wedge in her mouth and flashed an orange peel smile at Kurumi, Cela, and the students still dancing. What was the question again? Vivi spit out the orange peel to answer.

"It seems like a lot of steps just to make something move a little, so I would think it would hope the incantation would fully animate a chosen object."

FearlessLeader19 09-29-2012 05:01 AM

Jory was grateful for the break and promptly headed to the table and gulped down some water. He chewed on an orange wedge while he thought of an answer to the question. He didn't really have an idea of what substitutiary Locomotion was about.

The Puff raised his hand. "Does it have to do with swapping one movement from something to another?''

Hopping, clapping, WIGGILING, kicking.. tapping balling aaaaaand swinging! Louisa was getting really comfy, she didn't have to look down at her feet now but rather grin and look up at their instructor in the front. This really felt relaxing and fun after a week of intense study and NEWTs preparation, maybe she should make it like a routine in the weekends, you know, to let out some stress and passive energy. Also she could lose some weight after a few weeks, Louisa was an eater when it came to stressful times.

More moves were out!! Woot! Louisa paused for a bit, catching her breath and pushing the hair away from her face, wiping her sweaty foreheads in the process and watching the others try this. Aaaand now she had to do it, starting only from the new steps. OKAY. Take a steeeep, jazz your hands aaaaand sliiiiiide. That was easy, you just had to make sure not to bump into Vickers or the other person on the opposite side. Now the next was to pivot on right heel aaaaand 180 degrees then FISTPUMP!

ALL STEPS NOW!

HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.
Shuffle & pointing!
Tap, ball aaaaand swing!
Jazz hands!Step and sliiiiiiiide!
Pivot and power!fist!

Woot!

And they were done... almost. Louisa stopped, still smiling, and waited for a few seconds to gain her breath back. She held the handout when Cela distributed them and stared down at it, tilting her head as she followed the map with her eyes. Hmm. And the incantation was just as FUN as the little dance! Heh. Oh and the others already voiced out what was in her mind. "I agree with animating objects, make them move." Nodnod.

And because she was feeling how parched her mouth is now, she nudged Vickers with her elbow, "Want some water?" Even if he didn't really dance as enthusiastically, he was probably sweating from nerves, heh heh heh. She headed for the table to get one for both of them.

kayquilz 09-29-2012 02:20 PM

Elliot took the paper....she glared...at it. As if it had committed some terrible crime against her...it had. It was very NOT understandable...and Elliot was NOT dance savvy...she merely stared and stared and staaaaared at it.

Gulp.

She looked up, horrified...at all of the people dancing...Elliot was terrified at the thought of not being able to do something! HELP! She needed help, badly. She wasn't scared to ask...she tried to...do the whole HOPclap thing...okay...she wiggled her bottom...okay..okay...wigglewigglewiggle...

KIIIICK!

Elliot's kicks were truly awful. Eh. She wasn't very flexible. Tap...she tapped her feet, probably more than one was supposed to...she swung around...OH NO She had forgotten the shuffle point! thing...

GAAAHHHH!

So she went back and shuffled, looking very awkward indeed, and then pointed...redid the two steps after that...and now the hard part...jAzz hands. Merlin. WAH. PIVOT?!?! Elliot didn't get it..."I need...help..." she said, raising her hand.

Elliot hated dancing. It was official.

oh its Erik ok 09-29-2012 02:37 PM

Nigel had just finished all the steps without tripping. He was now really thirsty. But he still had to answer this awesome ladies question.

"Is it like if you don't know the lyrics. You can make up some words, and a dance. Then it will work if you believe."

It kind of sounded like what happens in a Disney movie. Which was awesome because there is a lot of magic in those movies. Now it was time get get some water and some orange wedges. Nigel runs over there grabs a cup of water and drinks it completely in a couple gulps. He grabbed another drink and drank that normally. Once finished drinking he took a orange wedge and went back to his place eating it on the way.

Belle needed some refreshments. She went over to get some oranges and water. She downed the first water bottle. Then she ate her orange. Then she heard the professor ask a question. "Does anyone know what Substitutiary Locomotion is?"
Belle did not know, but she would take a stab at it. "Professor is Substitutiary locomotion like some spell that you can't understand but it makes things move when you believe they can. All it takes is a little faith."After she answered, she read the sheet with all the footsteps labeled. Now it made more sense.

HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.

Aaaand agaiiiin!

HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.

THIS. WAS. RIDICULOUS.

Sierra Greingoth didn't dance. She just didn't. Yet here she was convincing herself that she'd feel like a failure if she was the only one not doing anything.

She tried to follow along with Cela, but...she was sure things just weren't working out. *hop, clap, wiggle, kick* Okay, she was SO not wiggling again...

*hop, clap ... ... ... ...* Okay, FINE. *...wiggle, kick*

*right foot down, shuffle forward, point, and step, step, step, step*

Nobody was LOOKING, were they?! Hopefully if they were, they would fall over their own two feet soon. ...and if they weren't looking, then GOOD.

See this was why they had to warm up!

Was this almost over? Greingoth's didn't dance. They just didn't.

*tap, swiiiiiing* ...

...but on that swing, Sierra lost her balance and sort of stumbled forward. She caught herself just before face-planting. She stood stiff as a board and wide-eyed. Who was looking?! WHO?!

Okay, no one. GOOD.

*tap, ball, swing, cross*

Then she could teach them the silly incantation and explain what they were doing and what intent they needed of course.

*step, sliiiiiide* ...and, what were JAZZ HANDS?!

Sierra spread her fingers wide into the jazz hand positon. At one point, she felt like she was just spinning and doing nothing else BUT flailing about, but Merlin, she was MOVING.

Sierra's hand shot into the air, but most of that enthusiasm was because the dance was over. "Well, locomotion is movement, of course, and substitution is when you replace one thing with another," she said, working out the meanings. "So maybe we're taking out one element and replacing it with another? People are saying it means giving movement to something that shouldn't move, so I guess we're replacing the stationary part of something with...well, movement."

Yup. That sounded good to her, at least.

She could see little Sarah thinking hard over there and she smiled encouragingly. Did she have something to say? No? That was okay.

So.... replacement motion?

That was just sort of confusing her a little. Unless....

Hand up! "Cela, is this...related to the Locomotor Charm? Where we, um, animate something that has been inanimate and...maybe...our movements replace an object's inanimate ones?" Just to try and throw some of her thoughts into verbal ones.

Did that mean that they would swap?! Like...if they took the suits of armor and did this dance...that they would become animate for a time while they froze?

Kurumi couldn't deal with more freezing....

Oh, wait! Orange wedges? Don't mind if we do!

"It is! This predates the Locomotor charm though, like with a lot of spell steps,"
Including Higitus Figitus which had become the packing charm as she'd mentioned earlier, "They've been refined over time and simplified for wand usage. Our movements don't quite replace the inanimate movement though! Wouldn't be much use if you froze, would it?"

He paused, YES, he was going to sing this out loud.

That made sense. Hand raised, the badger tried to explain what she was thinking. "I um..well I think that the dancing is a substitute way to make things move? Like maybe a substitute for a movement charm or something..." That sounded legit, yeah?

"Good guess." She agreed with a smile. And on the right track, as hopefully Ella would see when Cela demonstrated.

Celandine giggled. "Well, that's the basis for magic isn't it? Incantation, Movement, and Intent. Creating spells is a little more exact than that though."

"That's some good figuring out, Sierra!" Celandine agreed and then addressed the class as a whole.

--------------

"Substitutiary Locomotion is magic which allows for things that usually require OTHER things to make them move, to move all the same. In particular, things which usually are moved by people liiiiike...."
She went over and opened the cupboard against the wall, a WHOLE lot of robes and shirts and pants and shoes and gloves and all sorts of clothing were within. "Like clothing!"

So now she'd demonstrate, but first; "The better you get at it,the more items you can move at once, together, but when you first try, just choose one item and aim to get it to DANCE!"

She herself stepped away from the closet ready to demonstrate.

HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.
Shuffle!pointinggggg!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

...As she began, a shirt 'peeked' out of the closet and was soon tucking itself into a pair of pants, which then 'stepped' out of the closet...

Tap!Ball. Swwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!
Jazz hands!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

...It held out a sleeve, and a pair of long ladies gloves took hold of it and followed, along with a lovely flowing dress. They were joined by matching shoes, and the two outfits marched out to a bare patch of floor...

Step and sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiide!
Pivot and power!fist!

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

....and began to waltz around to the rhythm of Cela's spell.

She went through the steps and the incantation a few more times, expression intent on the 'dancers' while she smiled happily at their antics. They continued to dance, even when she stopped.

"They'll keep going for a little while!"

She faced the students again, bright smile in place while the dancing outfits waltzed behind her. "Okay if you're ready to try, go grab a piece of clothing from the closet! Shoes, a shirt, robes, anything! Just stick with one item though!" She'd been practicing a LOT longer after all.

"If you still need help on the steps, come over here and we'll work on those!" She shifted to one side and waved encouragingly at Elliot, and at Harlow, if she didn't feel ready.

"Lets get started! Everyone take an item of clothing from the closet, return to your spot, and put it down in front of you, so you can focus on making it moooooove while you do the spell steps and say the incantation!"

She went ahead and put on some music too, not loud enough to drown out the spells but so that there'd be something rhythmic for the clothing to continue to move to.

ooc: If anyone has questions they can ask them, and if they need help come over to Cela and she'll help out, but otherwise this is the fun part woohoo.

Have your charrie go to the closet and choose one item of clothing, and then they can try out the spell steps and the incantation to get it moving.

It mayyy take up to three repeats of the steps to get it moving completely, and I'll leave it up to you to judge how well your items dance (and what kind of dancing is up to you as well if you want your shoes to bust a move on their own thats fine by us)

However, everyone that completes the steps and says the incantation should manage to get their item moving!

There is no minimum or maximum number of posts, just have fun and follow instructions and do as much or as little as you think your charrie is capable of.

Break time was over, apparently, and Vivi returned to her spot near Kurumi in the front of the room. The dance steps were all shades of ridiculous, as was the incantation, but as soon as she saw the spell in action... well, it was hard to argue with those results. The shirt and trousers were daaaaaaaancing. In sync.

As soon as they were given leave to try the spell themselves, Vivi eagerly perused the clothing provided by Celandine. What would be the most challenging? Shoes, likely, because it would be harder to fake correct steps, but seeing a robe or a jumper dance would be much more impressive. She finally selected a pair of dress robes with some nice drape to them.

"If you can get yours to dance and I can get mine to dance, maybe we can get them to dance with each other," Vivi suggested to Kurumi as she returned to her spot and dropped the robes on the floor. She needed the little cheat sheet to get started working out the steps again, and Vivi ran through the dance several times before even considering adding the incantation.

FearlessLeader19 09-30-2012 05:04 AM

Jory got rid of the cup he was drinking the water in when he heard the next set of instructions. Right. Back to work. Grab footwear or clothing.

The boy headed over to closet and decided on a shirt. He grabbed it and returned to his spot and set it down in front of him. He wasn't sure if he would get this working right...

The incantation will make clothes MOVE! Wow. That was really interesting. Cassia first wondered if it was the same as the levitating charm. Makes objects rise up the air and stuff. But she waited to see Cela preform it.

Cassia admired the gracefulness of Cela's moves and watched her closely while she started preforming the dance spell. The second-year's eyes widened in awe watching the piece of clothes get out of the box and DANCE! Yay! That was fun.

The more garments joined the dancing, them more excited Cassia was to try this herself. She wished she could try it on many pieces of clothing like Cela but it obviously required so much practice. So she would stick to one piece as instructed.

And there was music too, good that would be helpful.

The twelve-years old bounced excitedly to the box to grab something. She peered at it and darted her eyes fast till she decided on a long-sleeved shirt. She picked it up and bounced back to where she was standing. Placing it on floor, Cassia automatically reached for a pocket that wasn't there. Hehe. No wand here. She grinned at the thought of preforming a spell without the need of a wand. Which was what this seminar about.

Cassia reviewed the steps in her mind fast because she decided that she had gotten the hang of them. Hopefully. Now she needed to practice the incantation. "Treguna Mekoides...Treguna Mekoides...." She started muttering under her breath. " Trecorum Satis Dee..Trecorum Satis Dee.." Not familiar words but not so hard to say. "Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee.." That should do it.

The Slytherin girl stood rocking on the balls of her feet. Now it was dancing time! Making sure she had the space in order not to run into someone, She began.

Hoppp..ClaaP high. WIIIIIGGLE aaand KICK theeen Shuffle..pointingg.

"Treguna Mekoides..." BREATH "Trecorum Satis Deeee!"

Tap ball and Swwwwwwwiiiiiiiiiiing....Jazzzzz hands!

"Treguna Mekoides..Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Step ... sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide thenn..Pivot...aaaand power FIST.

"Treguna Mekoides..Trecorum Satis Dee!" Cassia gasped because now she really was out of breath. Her chest was burning demanding airrr.

Though she was now more concerned to see if the shirt on the floor moved or not.....did it?

Oh, that was an interesting little tid bit of information there. "So...are the majority of the spells we use now were at one point dance magic? Before wants were introduced to wizarding kind perhaps?" Kurumi actually knew nothing about the history of wands outside of what they had done briefly in History of Magic a few terms back.

And GOOD about the not replacing movement. Kurumi really did not fancy the notion of being frozen...again.

Dancing clothing. Right. At least they didn't have to design clothing first and then make it dance. Took one of the more terrifying elements out of the whole activity. Kurumi first walked over to the clothing and selected an plain black robe, not much different from her Gryffindor robes, to start with. Hopefully she could at least get the arms to move or something before the end of the lesson.

Looking up again as Cela demonstrated, Kurumi tapped her hand against her leg to sort of keep the rhythm of the dance and incantation. It didn't seem...all that bad now that she saw it all put together - other than being somewhat exhausting.

So before she got to doing this seriously, Kurumi laid the long sleeve over her shoulder and began to go over the movements slowly, repeating the incantation three times, just as Cela had done in her demonstration.

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee...Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee..." Merlin was that sort of hard to say.

She needed the little cheat sheet to get started working out the steps again, and Vivi ran through the dance several times before even considering adding the incantation.

Going over the steps again at a ridiculously slow pace, almost as if she were in slow motion, and was somewhere around the third set of steps when Vivi spoke to her. "Sounds like a plan to me," Kurumi grinned, wiggling her fingers in the Ravenclaw's direction as an added sign of approval.

Going over the dance yet again and muttering the spell to herself a few more times, Kurumi decided to give it a go. What was the worst that could happen really? Just the clothing wouldn't move at all, right? Kurumi laid her robes flat on the ground and then stood in front of it, took a deep breath, and then began.

HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.
Shuffle!pointinggggg!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

..........and there was no noticeable change with the robes on the ground.

Tap!Ball. Swwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!
awkward Jazz hands!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

.............again, no noticeable change...maybe one of the sleeves twitched slightly, but one would really have to be paying attention to notice it.

Step and sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiide!
Pivot and awkward power!fist!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

THIS time, the sleeve did twitch and was a big enough movement that even Kurumi noticed it...but it was hardly anything that the Gryffindor was impressed by. Or, well, maybe she should be? It HAD moved a little...and that was better than no movement at all, right?

Princesspower 09-30-2012 12:34 PM

Now Sarah had to true say the incantation... Treguna Mekoides... it sounded strange to her ears, neverthe less she went on ..."Trecorum Satis Dee!... then she put it together:"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!, "Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!...
Now for the dance, Sarah placed the dress on the ground
HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.
Shuffle!pointinggggg!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"
Was it moving... were her eyes decieving her or did the sleeve tap meekly? She must have not seen right... so she went on.. it took one time danicing with no results and then things began happ and finally things began to happen
Tap!Ball. Swwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!
Jazz hands!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"
No, she was sure she saw something... that sleeve DEFINATELY tapped and the other sleeve twitched... maybe it would work?
Step and sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiide!
Pivot and power!fist!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"
Now the top half of the dress seemed to sit up, and then like a person waking up in the morning it slumped back down. Sarah sighed... dance already.. do something.. really.

The shirt moved its arms and could be considered dancing but the second-year wasn't satisfied with this result. Cassia frowned and crossed her arms over her shoulder eyeing the thing. "My grandmother can dance better than this," she said irritated. Well, her grandmother didn't really dance but she needed to make the shirt feel bad. Which was the most stupid thing probably. The slytherin thought of choosing another shirt, one that could dance properly.

But it wasn't really its fault, right? Cassia sighed realizing that it's, with no doubt, her performing that needed to get better. She waited until the shirt stopped moving its arms up and down lamely while it was only a couple of feet off the floor.

Now she shall try again with more concentration on the shirt unlike the previous try when she was concentrating on the dance moves and the incantation.

Ok. Cassia took a deep breath and skipped in her place warming up and then began!

Hop..ClaaP. WIGGLE . KICK and Shuffffffle..pointingg!

"Treguna Mekoides..Trecorum Satis Dee" She said her eyes glued on the shirt.

And the shirt hovered of the floor its arms twitching. A good sign.

Tap ball . Swwwiiiiiiiiing....crazy Jazz hands!

"Treguna Mekoides..Trecorum Satis DEE" Still eyeing the shirt which now started moving its arms in circles.

GASPS and continue.

Step !slide..Pivoooot...aaaand POWER FIST.

"TREGUNA MEKOIDES..TRECORUM SATIS Dee" she uttered excitedly.

And the shirt earned a huge grin and a squeak from the twelve-years old!

The shirt could dance after all. It moved its arms in wide and small circles while it twirled around jumping up and down. Now THAT was dancing. Cassia stood watching her dancing shirt so amused and proud by the thought that she got the thing to mooooove.

catching up, Cela steps n' spells and ze girlfran XD

And JUST when he thought things was about to get easy the next step had to do the tap-swing with the foot thing. Tapping was easy, but as he lifted his leg to swing forward his FOOT caught the back of his other leg and sent this Ravenclaw SPRAWLING towards the floor.

Embarrassing moment number… heck he lost count.

He scrambled back on his feet, but by then they’ve moved to the next part, which was side stepping and sliding. Yeah he can do this-- steeeep and sliiiiiiiide. There see? Easy peasy. And the jazz hands….. what jazz hands?

Last step. He was literally thanking Merlin under his breath. Piiiivoting (in the wrong direction) and POWER FIST!

Yeah! He’s done it!

And there he goes promptly dropping his bum onto the floor.

Huffing and puffing he could only nod his head as thanks when Cela gave them the hand outs. Merlin it looked so simple on paper. He looked up at Louisa when she asked if he wanted water. He nodded but mustered a ”I…I’ll get it for us.” Because it’s the least he could do being such an embarrassment to the ginger Head Girl.

He pushed himself off the floor and hobbled towards the refreshments table, loading a plate with two drinks and several fruit slices before slowly carefully making his way back to where Louisa stood. By that then Cela had started with the incantation and was demonstrating what the spell was for. As he offered the plate to Louisa he once again found himself standing dumbly at the dancing clothes.

Yeah he was never going to get that done is he?

He turned slowly to Louisa, defeat clear on his face ”I… I cant even….” he mumbled as he feebly pointed at the graceful garments ”Maybe if I wore the clothes that you do the spell on then maybe I’ll be able to muster the spell myself.” since he wouldn’t have to worry about the movements, just the intent and the spell. Will that work?

OH! BEAM. So they were going to make objects move with their dancing?! That was wicked! It reminded Ella of one of her favorite movies when she was very little, an old one her Gran loved too. Matilda! In the movie the young girl made all kinds of objects move by dancing around and pointing at them. Ells had always wished she could do that and now...SHE COULD! Bounce.

The third year grinned as she observed Cela demonstrating the spell, laughing as the clothing began to waltz around behind her. Merlin, that was quite cool! Ella totally wanted to master that!

Walking over to the closet, Ella waited her turn and then bent down, picking up a pair of men's dress shoes. They were quite shiny and fancy, just the kind of shoes that one might wear for dancing. Grin. She then returned to her spot, placing the shoes down on the ground in front of her. Right...now for the spell.

HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.
Shuffle!pointinggggg!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

So...nothing was happening yet which made Ella a bit discouraged. She didn't give up though, continuing to concentrate on making the shoes move.

Tap!Ball. Swwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!
Jazz hands!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Hmm...still nothing. Frown. They were meant to do something by now, yeah? Ella bit her lip, trying to focus more specifically on what she wanted them to do. A moon walk! Yeah, that'd be brilliant!

Step and sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiide!
Pivot and power!fist!

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

...Oh! They were wiggling! THEY WERE WIGGLING! Okay so maybe it wasn't moon walking but still! They were moving on their own. This was totally a good sign! BEAM.

She resumed the steps again, adding the incantation this time... and picturing the whole time that her robes were going to stand up and dance. Just... stand up. Easy as.

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!" Hop!clap wiiiiiiiiggle kick.

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!" Shuffle!point tap ball change swiiiing aaaaand jazz hands.

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!" Step and slide, pivot and fist pump?

And again. And again.

Finally, Vivi paused with arms akimbo, surveying her robes. Were they moving a bit? Twitching? It appeared that the robes struggled briefly to rise before going flat again, and Vivi reached over to grab Kurumi's arm. DID SHE SEEEEEE THAT?

FearlessLeader19 10-01-2012 05:14 AM

After repeating the incantation a few times, Jory thought he would be able to begin.

HOP.CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.Shuffle!pointing!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Tap!Ball. Swing.
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Step and slide!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Pivot & power fist!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Thankfully, nothing went wrong with the moves. He wasn't about to fall flat in front of the class. Jory scrutinized the shirt on the floor, hoping it would move even if it were a bit.

Yes! The right side sleeve was doing some sort of a wiggle. But apart from that, the rest of the shirt was still.

Kurumi was in the midst of doing the foot swiiiiiiiiiiinging thing when a hand came out of no where and grabbed her arm, causing the Gryffindor to squeak and jump with surprise - and naturally any movement there may have been with her robes to cease. Not that there really had been anything to begin with really. Maybe it had puffed up a little as if some invisible person were lying down on the floor wearing them though. Progress? Ish!

"KYAA!" she squeaked, glancing at the hand on her arm that was attached too...oh Vivi! "W-W-What!?" Had something blown up!? Wait, there was no smoke and without smoke there couldn't be any fire so they were safe, right?

Kurumi sort of unpeeled Vivi's hand from her arm, stepping a little to the side and turned her attention back to her robe. She probably needed to be a bit...louder? Kurumi had the feeling that she was letting her embarrassment get the best of her and now allowing herself to really 'be the wand.' Right...she needed to be the wand.

Be the wand....be the wand...be the wand...be the wand...

Another deep breath, and an awkward glance towards her Ravenclaw half, Kurumi started over again. She really wanted them to be able to get their robes to dance together.

HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.
Shuffle!pointinggggg!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Puffing! There was definately some puffing of the robes going on!

Perhaps some mild twitching, but nothing to get too excited about...

Step and sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiide!

This time her robes literally sat up, but that was all it did. It just sad up and sort of ruffled in the breeze. Or, well, maybe not in the breeze...but maybe it was ruffling with magic?

"You think I have to repeat all of the dance again?" she whispered, freezing in her power fist position.

Belle heard the professor's instructions. She knew she was going to have trouble following the instructions. But hey she needed to try right??

She went over to the closet and got out a cute t-shirt. She was going to make it dance. She lied it down in front of her. She already saw some of her classmates getting the idea of the spell. Alright let's do the first step.

HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.
Shuffle!pointinggggg!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

The shirt had little air coming out of it. Hmmm that was something better than nothing! At least Belle did the dance steps right. She was getting there!

Tap!Ball. Swwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!
Jazz hands!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

The shirt's arm moved a little bit. It came up and then down. Omg she was getting somewhere! She was doing it! She needed more confidence is all.

Step and sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiide!
Pivot and power!fist!

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Belle was getting into the music. After she did the power fist, the shirt actually STOOD up. It was trying to dance, but then fell to the floor. Aww man she was so close! Ah well she will do it again, after she got some water....Yeah water would be good right now.

Vivi may have startled Kurumi, but she ignored it in favor of returning her attention to her robes. They had definitely tried to sit up, and that was basically just one really good push up from being on one's feet.

And dancing.

"Hmm?" She glanced at her partner-in-crime and nodded. "Yes, I think you have to keep saying it until something happens or you pass out from exhaustion. Did you have an orange wedge?" Because that would surely keep Kurumi from passing out.

Turning her attention once again to her robes, Vivi nudged them with her toe. Get up get up get up and daaaaaaaaaance.

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee."

The robes really did sit up this time, and the arms sort of streeeeeeeetched out above its head like someone just waking up. LOOK LOOK.

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee."

They wobbled briefly, and Vivi danced did some fancy!pants jazz hands at the robes to encourage them to keep on trying to get up. Up up UPPP.

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee."

Her hoping was especially ecstatic, and if Vivi didn't happen to know that she was being extremely undignified, it was because intellectual curiosity always took precedence over image. Or almost always.

Her robes rose to wobbly and invisible feet and wavered there. "Dance. DANCE."

FearlessLeader19 10-02-2012 05:05 AM

"Okay, let's try this again,'' Jory muttered, encouraged by his progress even if it was just a wiggle. Who knew, maybe something bigger would happen this time.

Tap!Ball. Swing.
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Step and slide!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

He watched anxiously. Yes! More results! Both of the shirt's sleeves flapped for a few seconds before falling flat back onto the floor.

"Dance. DANCE."

Until something happens or you pass out? That was reassuring. At least there was water and orange slices over there.

Attention back on her robes - which were thankfully still sitting upright - Kurumi wiggled her body a little bit to loosen up some more before giving this another go. Maybe she could at least get it to stand up by the end of this?

HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.
Shuffle!pointinggggg!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Kurumi froze her movements for a moment when she saw the robes wiggle and ruffle some more. That was a good sign, right? The moving and wiggling and stuff?

Tap!Ball. Swwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!
awkward Jazz hands!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Excitement bubbling up inside her, Kurumi ended up saying the incantation a little more loudly than she had intended, but it also was producing the desired effect as the robes lifted up off the ground and floated in the air. Kurumi ended up reaching out with her one arm and poked randomly in Vivi's direction.

Poke poke poke poke! LOOKATIT!

This temporary distraction from what she was doing caused the robes to waver a little and sink back towards the floor. Okay. No more poking for now!

Step and sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiide!
Pivot and awkward power!fist!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Probably MUCH louder than she need, but Kurumi was a little panicked at the robes melting back towards the floor. Freezing again in her power fist position, Kurumi watched as the robes rose once more and stayed there, suspended in the air and softly swaying back and forth in an awkward dance...BUT IT WAS STILL DANCING.

Which is why she was back to lovingly jabbing Vivi in the side with her finger.

So maybe Ella's first attempt hadn't exactly been impressive but still, those shoes were still wiggling. It wasn't much but it was definitely a start. The third year shook out her hands and looked down at them, focusing on what she wanted to happen. Those shoes were going to dance. They just were. Ella was convinced of it.

Right...and try number two was going to be ten times better. Yup.

HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.
Shuffle!pointinggggg!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Alright, they were still just wiggling but she had only just started so no reason to panic yet, yeah?

Tap!Ball. Swwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!
Jazz hands!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

O___O Oh! OH! That one! That one on the left. EEP! It was moving more. Like...like it was more noticeable now! YES. YES. YES.

Step and sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiide!
Pivot and power!fist!

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

And the other one! EEP! They were both moving now and their movement was definitely closer to dancing than twitching this time. Okay...so this was good! She was getting somewhere. BEAM.

Encouraged that there had been some respons Sarah went on, yet it was not until a few times later that she actually began to perfect it
HOP!CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.
Shuffle!pointinggggg!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Now the dress actually began to stand up... it was working and the bottom part of the dress seemed to be dancing in the wind

Tap!Ball. Swwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!
Jazz hands!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"
As Sarah jazzed her hand the arms began to move, in brabra position, just like Sarah had learnt at Ballet... this was awesome.... perhaps it could do a piroette or something
Step and sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiide!
Pivot and power!fist!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"
YES IT DID! It twirled on the spot and as it twirled the arms moved to fifth potion, making a dome over the neckline. It was dancing... Sarah finished off the dance and did it gain this time with more energy.. as she finished it she turned nervously to the dress... yes it was still dancing like a carefree maiden in the fields, it leapt through the air, like a prima ballerine on stage. Sarah could not believe it.. t was working.

Feeling a lot more confident now, Jory once again began the dance procedure. He was tired of the dancing ad wished the shirt would just dance already.

HOP.CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.Shuffle!pointing!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Tap!Ball. Swing.
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Step and slide!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Pivot & power fist!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

The shirt started to move again. Both of the sleeves at first, but then, it started to rise off of the floor. "Keep going,'' the badger muttered. Only half of the shirt rose though while the other half remained on the floor. But the first half was rocking slowly back and forth as if it were doing a slow dance.

TeafortheSoul 10-03-2012 08:10 AM

"Looking goooooood everyone! Keep going you're all doing great!" Celandine enthused, watching the progress. "Ten minutes left! So if there are any other questions now is the time to ask them --see if you can get your item dancing by then!"

ooc: This seminar waaas supposed to end on the first, but y'all are busy elsewhere and not many people are posting so I let it go a bit longer. :loved: This is the last chance to join in if you haven't yet, and those of you who are dancing about already, your charrie should start managing the spell in your next posts! or not if they're absolutely terrible at magic lol I am going to a funeral, leaving tomorrow, so I'll be wanting to end the seminar in about 14 hours at the outside --if I don't get a chance to post it will be about 24 hours from now that the thread will be closed. So wrap it up loves!

FearlessLeader19 10-04-2012 05:23 AM

Hoping this would be the last time he would do these moves, Jory started again.

HOP.CLAP. WIGGLE. KICK.Shuffle!pointing!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Tap!Ball. Swing.
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Step and slide!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Pivot & power fist!
"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

Slowly, the shirt rose up from the floor. The sleeves first and then the entire thing! Finally! And it began to sway slowly as if it were being ruffled by a gentle breeze.

Ouch. OUCH. Why was Kurumi jabbing her with those tiny, sharp fingers? Vivi grabbed the girl's hand, only then noticing that both of the robes were now standing and bobbing along slightly.

OH IF ONLY THEY WOULD DANCE TOGETHER.

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!" Vivi stage-whispered at the robes, doing the first few steps that coincided. Hop!clap wiggle and...

Her robes bowed, and Vivi froze in place, her hands awkwardly splayed. Should she keep going, or could she respond in kind? After a moment of lip-gnawing, it seemed only prudent to be polite, and Vivi straightened from her shuffle!dance to curtsey low in response.

"I'm occupied, actually, but you could dance with Kurumi's robes, please?" She gestured to the other set of robes, and her own wobbled back and forth before bowing again to Vivi, then to Kurumi, then to the other robes.

Now they would dance.

Presley would never tell Elliot, but this was kind of amusing her. She loved the feeling for once of being amazing at something Elliot struggled with. It was no secret that Presley was a dancer. These simple steps came so easily to her. She didn't even feel like she was working. Elliot, on the other hand, had asked for help. It gave Presley just the slightest hint of an amused grin.

She turned back to the task at hand. "Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee" she repeated, redoing the simple steps. This wasn't so bad. The robes were moving a little bit. That was good. As she kept up, they lifted like there was a person inside of them. Presley began adding her flair to the dance, if you could call it that. The more she threw herself into it, the better the incantation seemed to work, and soon her robes were dancing alongside her. She full on grinned in delight. That had possibly been the easiest task she'd been assigned all year.

Having already made her robes dance, she turned to her friend. "I can help you if you want, Elliot." Just an offer...if she was still struggling.

OOC: Bednobs and Broomsticks? (: Love that movie.

The whole time Cela was talking, Sierra just kept wondering why they'd need this spell. What would you want your clothes to dance for? She guessed this was just the basics, though, and once a person learned this, there was probably a whole lot more they could do. For now, though, clothes it was.

She stepped toward the closet and randomly reached for a pair of pants. She carried the pants to an area that wasn't already crowded with other kids and placed them on the floor. She stared down at them, trying to focusing on them standing up, spinning around, and doing high kicks. Crazy, but true.

...and then Sierra began to dance.

*hop, clap, wiiiiiigle, kick, shuffle, POINT*

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

*tap, ball, swiiiiing, JAZZ HANDS*

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

*step, slide, pivot, power!fist*

"Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee!"

At first, nothing seemed to happen, but then her pants began to do a few short steps f the same type wave she'd seen the fans do at Quidditch matches. Granted, the pants stayed on the floor and didn't stay moving for long, but it was a start, at least.

*finally gets a chance to close this*

"Okay everyone! We're out of time now!" They only had two hours, unfortunately, even if Cela could totes go at it all day. She clapped her hands. "There isn't going to be any homework, but if you get the chance I totes recommend popping into the library and taking a look at the books about the hidden magical side of Disney. It gives you a whole new perspective! And if you didn't manage the spell today, you'll get it if you work hard enough at it, and you can keep those handouts too of course!" She beamed all around. "It was super nice to meet you all! Help yourselves to some more refreshments on your way out!"
