While the firsties head off down the street toward the boats, the second years and up head the opposite direction. Just a hop off the platform, a short walk down a forest path, and you see the long line of carriages waiting for the students.

They appear to be pulled by ... nothing, but those who know history or tragedy know what's tugging the carriages along. Four per cabin, please, and do remain seated the entire ride.

The good ole carriages.

Hops made his way up the street and towards the lines of thestral-pulled wagons and stopped by the first one's steps to help the kids in. He remembered them well, those buggys, from his seven years as a Hufflepuff but he hadn't seen the ghastly creatures pulling them until a few years ago when he had come to watch the kids arrive--his wife having passed away just a few years before that.

But no thinking on that, this was supposed to be a happy occasion, although he couldn't help but wonder which of the kids were unfortunate enough to see them too.

After briskly walking down the forest pathway, Milton found the carriage closest to the castle (which was still far away, obviously) and climbed onto it. He settled himself near the front of the carriage, close to the thestrals that he couldn't see. Last year, he thought the carriages were just pulled by magic, but then he read about the thestrals in Hogwarts, A History and realized that he was wrong (which didn't happen often). It was kind of weird, actually, to be pulled by an invisible, yet still physical being. Milton wondered if he could touch the thestrals... but decided against it.

He just wanted FOOD. So people should, like, HURRY and get their tushies on the carriages. NAO.

Emmanuelle, her nose now fixed, was hurrying away from the chaos on the platform. She was ready to leave this whole nightmare with the train behind and enjoy a nice feast and then some sleep. Noticing the encroaching trees, though, she slowed down a bit. Didn't want to reinjure herself, after all.

After a relatively short walk, Em spied the carriages. Hurray! Picking up her speed a little, she made her way to the first one, waving a greeting to the shopkeeper standing there. "Hello!" she said, little cheerier than she felt, before climbing into the carriage. It had been a looooonnnnngg afternoon.

Mika skipped down the path to the carraiges. Of course she didn't see ANYTHING driving them because she hadn't witnessed any deaths. Nope innocent little creepy girly here.

She smiled giddily and skipped down the path until she found a free carriage and hoisted herself inside. Fumbling her way onto the seat where she proudly sat like a little ruler-girl of Hogwarts.

Jayden walked cheerfully down the walk, her blue eyes glinting in the moon light. She hadn't felt this happy in aaaaaages. And to top it all off, she was here with one of her very close friends, Elliot Morganzo.

"Gosh Ell, could they be going any sloooower?" She groaned, gesturing to the groups of second thru third years.

After a short walk from the train platform, Silvia emerged from the small pathway to see the carriages that would take them up to the castle. Almost there, she thought. Now that the chaos had begun to die down a bit, she could look forward to a relaxing ride (hopefully), followed by a delicious feast (once they got through the sorting and the speech, that is).

Silvia made her way to a nearby carriage and climbed in. She made herself comfortable and waited for the carriage to fill up so they could get moving towards the castle. Regardless of any craziness that might happen this term, she was looking forward to being back at Hogwarts and the beginning of her third year.

She trudged through the dirt, her pristine white shoes getting COVERED in dirt...it was so...annoying. "Gah..new shoes..." as usual. Elliot didn't usually wear shoes twice...but STILL!

Elliot found an empty carriage...it was pulled by nothing, which was creepy. Or rather, by threstals. But it was still creepy because they LOOKED like they were pulled by nothing.

She wished a guy were around...her trunk was heavy. It'd be nice to have someone put her trunk up FOR her...too bad her house elf wasn't near. "UUGGGH. Heavy...trunk..." she said as she tried to put her trunk into the carriage...WHATEVER.

She scoffed..."Tell you at the feast, Fishface," she said with a slight smirk. Fishface was new. But she liked it. Of course, Jayden did NOT look like a fish...it was just a name..

Vickers left the frenzy that was the train platform and made his way towards the carriages. Sure seemed a lot easier this time around, what with just minding his familiars and not thinking about his luggage. He eyed the thestrals for a while--not because only a few can see them-- but that these are creatures of flight and Vickers just admires anything with wings... no matter how aesthetically unpleasant they look.

It was only then that he noticed another fellow. Wasnt this guy a shopkeeper down by the village? Helping out? Second job? Regardless, he gets a respectful nod from this Ravenclaw "Good day Sir." he greeted the man before climbing in the nearest carriage to him, which he found out was already occupied "Hello Milton--Captain." he said to the fellow who inherited Ellie's badge, then gave another "Hello" to the girl (Emmanuelle) who he's seen around in his classes but wasnt overly familiar with.

With the bird cage on his lap and the pup buggy by his feet, he settles himself into his corner of the carriage and lets out a long sigh. The hassle! It was almost like traveling through Muggle airports...

Elliot FINALLY got her trunk into the carriage..and followed suit into it. She scowled as her robe caught onto the corner, so she YANKED it away, luckily without any rips or anything.

She rolled her eyes...Lacy wasn't as bad as Fishface...it really wasn't. "At least my nickname is elegant..." she shot back, her eyes shining with glee. Aw, she had missed her some JAYDEN!

BUt she couldnt say this aloud..

Ronnie walked glumly over to the carriages, her head aching more than ever now. And plus, she still felt very sick, puking had done like absolutely nothing. UGH. Stupid day. Stupid train. Stupid...everything.

She climbed up on one of the emptier carriages and plopped down, crossing her arms, an annoyed look on her face. She was not happy right now. AT. ALL. She just wanted to curl up in her bed up in the castle, she didn't care about the feast...the feast she had been looking forward to ever since she had woken up that morning. But now, all she wanted was to go to sleep. She was very tired from everything that had went on today. Even before the train incident...crazy morning it had been.

Jory walked behind some students down the Forrest path. It wasn't a long walk and soon he joined the others as the were getting into the carriages he knew were pulled by thestrals. He would never forget the shock he had gotten the first time he came upon the carriages. Back then he didn't know of thestrals, of course.

The Badger got into one of them in which a third year female Ravenclaw was already sitting. "Hi there,'' Jory greeted her.

Elliot rolled her eyes...Jayden was going to make Elliot's eyes disappear forever into the back of her head she rolled her eyes so much.

As soon as he heard a voice beside him, he had snapped out of his thoughts to see his friend was safe; taking a deep breath that he hadn't known he was holding. There wasn't a need to worry anymore. "Well I didn't either, Orion was alright but I ended up scraping my knees on the train. I was worried about you.. erm.. thought something bad had happened." His voice trailed off as he had finished off the licorice wand that was already half eaten before starting another.

Not really feeling like staying outside of the carriages any longer than she needed to, especially since she was still kind of cold and odds were it might be a little warmer inside, Kendall gave Patrick half a look as he'd actually taken a deep breath as soon as she'd arrived. As if he'd been honestly concerned about her getting lost, unless it was just that he was creeped out by the thestrals too and having her there made him feel safer. That could have been the case, but she still set Accio down on the carriage seat before turning back to her friend. "I don't think the thestrals are going to try to eat you," she said, even as he'd spoken. "Maybe you shoudl get in the carriage anyway, though. Just in case." She was glad that Orion had gotten through it all okay too. She didn't say it, but she was. Plus, she didn't think scraped knees would gain the notice of the thestrals, but either way, Patrick really should get in the carriage unless he wanted to walk to Hogwarts. It wasn't really that far, but after everything else that had happened she didn't think walking was something that sounded like fun.

She'd taken another bite of her chocolate bar before she'd really registered the last part of what he'd said, still waiting for him to get in the carriage. That got another curious look, however. "I kinda fell on Mika when the train stopped. And then crashed after the portkey, but no. Nothing bad happened to me," she replied. There hadn't been any dementors or zombies invading the train. Just the redhaired lady and then that man from the Ministry with the portkeys. The portkeys hadn't even taken her anywhere weird, so she honestly didn't know why he would have been worried. He was the one with scraped knees standing out there with the thestrals. She should be worried about him.

Nerida stepped off of the train happy and great. She couldn't wait to start Hogwarts. This year would be great! The blonde bounced on over to a carriage and sat down. You don't look so good!?"She hated seeing people, down in the dumps, annoyed unless it was her siblings, and all those other emotions that weren't happy! They were at Hogwarts, everybody should be happy!

After grabbing her bags, Olivia hopped down from the train and proceeded down the short path to the carriages. She waited in line and got into the first one that was available. "What do you think pulls that carts?" Olivia said out loud as they wer being carried to the school "Mabey they are enchanted?"

"Thestrals pull them," She supplied breathlessly as she clamored into the carriage behind the older girl. Dora had been extremely hesitant to grab onto the portkey. Who REALLY knew where the thing lead to? And what was up with the train acting up anyway? So many questions, but she couldn't really focus on them while pulling her luggage behind her too.

It was too much work to find a carriage with her friends or a familiar face or anything, so this one would have to due while she caught her breath. "You can't see them though, on account of them being invisible to anyone who hasn't seen a death and all." She paused to get comfortable. "I haven't seen any deaths though, so I can't see 'em either."

Blue followed the crowd, a little confused. Why was it only FIRST years that got to take the boats? Unfair much? Boats were COOL. With an annoyed little frown she made her way over to a carriage, still feeling miserable about the whole thing with her toad. What if she never saw him again? With a little wibble, she yanked open the door to the carriage and got in. It took her a moment to realize someone else was in it and a squeal erupted from her and she nearly flung herself at Mika to hug her.

"MIKAAAAA OR MIA WHATEVER YOUR NAME ISSSS!!!!"

She hadn't seen her roomie at ALL over the Summer and had missed her. Like, lots. She wriggled a litte and got off, sitting back in her seat. "I'VE MISSED YOU!!!" And restrained herself from bear!hugging her friend again. Hehehe.

Sigh!

Puffles was still motionless and nothing Renesmee had tried worked. They had to keep moving though and maybe soon they'd find the new ComC professor whoever he/she was. The now fifth year walked on along the forrest path, checking every now and then that Oakey was after all with her. She knew he'd be good company, he was usually good with these things and nknew what to say.

A few more steps and then, Nessie saw all the carriages before her. She couldn't see the thestrals, but she had heard from people that they were there. In a way this was a good sign, this meant that Puffles had to be alright, because if he had passed out surely she'd see the thestrals. She breathed a sigh of relief, calming down at this now.They'd be there soon..and soon Puffles would be alright. That was all that mattered.

Waiting to the carriage, Ness gave Puffles a small stroke as she kept him safely in her hands. "It'll be alright." she whispered to him and then began climbing onto an empty carriage.
