Runes Lesson One - Introduction And Refresher Tristan Christiansen had walked to the school from Hogsmeade. He was tired and cold, and just not in thebest of moods. He was back now to teach student the ancient art of runes. Why? Because the beautiful ginger headmistress had personally asked him to. ... how could he say no? He placed his briefcase on the desk and sat on the chair, waiting for the students to begin filing in. |
Ancient Runes.. The boy had taken the course the last two terms at Beauxbatons, thinking it dreadfully boring. He mildly wondered if it would be any different here... meh, probably not. He didn't have a choice either way - his parents insisted on him taking the class. Oh and first one here.. not surprising, he thought sarcastically, wondering if there was anyone who actually liked the subject. Other than the professor of course.. Ethan gave the man a polite smile and greeting as he passed by. "Good morning, Professor." And he took a seat near a window. |
Ethan is in here! :3 Not looking forward to attending Ancient Runes Hannah walked into the classroom not in the best of moods. Still she didn't have a choice. She had to attend every class in order to be well rounded and make up for how bad she did last term. Ugh! Her parents just didn't understand. There was only one other person there...and merlin it was Ethan. Act natural! he didn't know anything and she wasn't going to make a fool of herself. "Hey Ethan." Then she looked around and spotted the professor...how rude would it be to say hello to another student and not the professor? Not that Hannah cared too much about being rude. "Hello professor." |
With his school bag over his shoulder and his duck hat that he had gotten from Jonathan on his head, Daichi made his way up the stairs to the first Ancient Runes lesson. He knew that there was going to be a new Professor this time and he wondered who it could be. Reaching the classroom, Daichi opened the door and stepped inside. His chocolate brown eyes then landed on the Professor who was sitting in a chair. He looked familiar...he had seen him before! "ooooh! you're Professor ...uhm...it was something with a Chris...i think.." the Snake bit his lower lip . "Sorry if i'm wrong but HI~!" he bowed and waved his hand when he stood upright again. "or Gaton Tag....right?" He smiled broadly, thinking he had said Guten Tag the right way and found a seat near the front. |
Professor... and the Ethan boy... Jayden walked into the classroom, her mouth set in a grumpy line. Ancient Runes was SOOOO not her thing, but it was a class that her father INSISTED she take, so that was that. It was a requirement. "Good morning, Professor!" She greeted the man as cheerfully as she could. It wasn't HIS fault that she detested Ancient Runes as much as she did. And in the three years she had been attending Hogwarts, at least he made it tolerable. And oh look. Other students had arrived before her, but at least she was one of the first ones. She turned on her heel, walking towards the back end of the windows she noticed a rather... attractive looking boy. A boy she had never met before. Ah well... Time for introductions. *giggle* "Hey there..." She greeted the boy quietly as she sat down in a seat two rows in front of him. "I'm Jayden, nice to meet you! Are you new here?" She asked, tossing her black curls behind her shoulders. |
Cassia entered the classroom her bag slung over her shoulder and her hands pushed into her pockets. She was feeling so cold. She liked winter but during this season she wore every piece of clothing she owned. That's why maybe she looked a bit fatter. She didn't gain any weight but she was wearing so many layers. And actually she wasn't so excited about this class. Because why learn about something that is ancient? It didn't make sense to her. Though she was excited to meet the new Professor. So she made a bee-line for the Professor's desk and looked at him closely. Blink..Blink..Blink. And his face got registered in the second-year's memory. Ehh..he was like all Professors, nothing special about him. Now was the time for greeting him. It's not polite to stare and walk away. So she offered him a smile ,"Hi Professor....." She trailed off. What was his name again? Eh...she couldn't remember. She smiled again covering her failure of trying to remember his name and turned on her heels walking further into the room. Sitting down, she placed her bag on the desk and started rubbing her hands together. IT was really cold. |
Nigel was confused about runes. He had read the textbook but was like confused. But it was just that he really did not like it. He guessed because he did not understand it. Or he just did not want to give it a chance. "Hello, Professor" Nigel said as he made his way yo his seat. Nigel's goal was to not fall asleep and he felt he could accomplish that. |
Minerva walked into class and a smile crossed her face. [B]"Hello Professor Christiansen. It's nice to have you back this term."/B] He was always so hard to understand, but Minerva didn't mind, she had always thought he was nice. Turning she looked around to see where to sit. She noticed some students that she knew. Give a shy smile, "Hey Ethan" then she saw Nigel and smiled "Hey Nigel". Then she took a seat towards the front like always and pulled out her parchment to get ready for class. |
Runessssss *grrroooaaaannnn* Hopefully this lesson they wouldn't be doing chores, such as painting the groundkeeper's fence, like last time. Runes was dull enough without flinging slave labour into the mix. Elijah couldn't deny that he was slightly curious about what this new Professor would be like. He had heard he spoke funny and to top it all off the man was ginger... how unfortunate. *tanoys* Hair dye to floor five, please! That's hair dye to floooorrr fiveee, over. He gave a small smile to the Professor, making sure not to look at him TOO long. He'd once heard that some ginger wizards could make you break out in a hundred freckles! Elijah's skin was so flawlessly gorgeous that he didn't need freckles ruining the overall image. Noooo sireeee. |
plus Elijah Runes.... Thoughts of Jenkins tugs at Vickers' memories. He learned from that man, being his first ever Runes teacher. Even if now that he has a better grasp of the subject there was a part of him that would've wanted to complete his entire Runes learning development with the same Professor, would've been nice to show to him how far he's come. The Ravenclaw enters the classroom and gives his usual polite nod to the other man in greeting "Good day Professor Christiansen." Yeah he knew his name from his schedule. Accent issues and all? Totally clueless about that. He finds the CurlyPuff already seated and dropped himself into the chair next to him. Yeah best bud gets a 'Sup bro nod, then he brings out his parchment and quill and the Runes bag and lines them across his desk. |
Jory always found runes to be interesting so he was looking forward to today's class. There were some students there already when he arrived. Then he spotted the Professor. "Hi, Professor,'' the Puff greeted, familiar with him since he thought last term. He made his way to find a seat. |
Another year of runes...and the professor from a couple of years ago was back to teach it. Gideon wondered what was up with that. Not to mention if they might have any better of a chance understanding him, or him them. It wasn't as if a lot of students and staff didn't have different accents but it certainly proved interesting in this case. Making his way down to the fifth floor, the seventh year headed to the class room deciding to at least give it a shot for the first class despite not have sat for the OWL and had no real interest in continuing after graduation. The subject still had some curious characteristics. "Good day professor," he greeted politely as he entered the room, making his way towards a seat. |
Louisa was wearing her uniform of course, but on top of it she had a double-layered jumper. She was recovering from flu, only a couple of sneezes in one paragraph... err... speech. She was wiping her nose with her handkerchief when she entered the classroom, "Hello professor Christiansen. Good to see you again." HAAI, remember me! She walked further into the class, throwing waves at Ethan, Daichi, Cassia and Nigel. Then... Text Cut: Elijah & Vicky :33 ...VICKERS and Elijah! Her sickly rosy cheeks and extra rosy nose stood out as the rest of her face beamed at the Ravenclaw, and she meandered over to where he sat next to his Once |
Ancient Runes. Meh. Ella still kind of missed Jenkins so the thought of attending class with a new Professor had her a little down. She tried not to let it show too much, though. Entering the classroom with a small smile on her face. "Hello Professor, I'm Ella." She greeted cheerfully before looking around the room. She spotted an empty seat towards the back and headed that way, plopping down before pulling out her quill and some parchment. Right. She was ready for class to start. |
"God Dag to all off you." Tristan said in his heavy Norwegian accent, "I hope you haff all been vell since ze last time I vas here. Und no, child. I am not neeu here. I haff returned. Ya?" He said smiling. "Zo. Let us start ze lesson. Vat are Runes?" SPOILER!!: Tristlation |
Ella. Oakey entered the classroom and looked around, it had been a while since he had attended a class run by Professor Christiansen. The last being Oakey's first term before he missed his whole second year due to his accident. Hello Professor Christiansen, Oakey said as he gave the Ancient Runes Professor a smile and nod. Oakey neared his way to the back of the class and found an empty chair besides Ella. He set his bag down onto the desk with an unintentionally loud thud. Inside his bag were books texts and notes of this subject. "Hi Ella." oakey said giving his Hufflepuff friend a nice little smile too. He turned his attention quickly to the front of the class as the Professor asked his first question which was much easier to understand than his introduction. "Professor, Runes are a set of germanic letters used before the Latin language." |
Sierra glanced up at the Ancient Runes professor. Could he really even be called a substitute professor anymore? He'd been here for years already, hadn't he? Well, with the exception of just a few years, that is. He'd been the main one to teach Sierra Ancient Runes since she'd entered Hogwarts six years ago. ...and of course he was back with his hard-to-understand accent. So what were runes? She raised her hand. "They're the letters that make up the runic alphabet," she said. "They're a type of wandless magic used to help make our lives better." |
Quote:
Blink..Blink... After the Professor finished. Cassia picked up some words that actually resembled English. Good..then this language wasn't that hard. was he asking them about it? She raised her hand and spoke," Something old," That was the ancient part. "And that is hard to decipher." That was the runes part. And they say she isn't smart. Pffft...This thing was so easy. And she was absolutely getting smarter. Not a Ravenclaw but a smart Snake. She needed smartness for her spying with Theo...who was in hospital actually. So she was working on her smartness meanwhile. Next question please. Smart Snake here. |
SPOILER!!: Vickers Elijah returned the 'sup bro nod and smiled to himself, pleased that he was going to get to work with his best friend this lesson. It had been a while, and frankly, there was probably no better lesson he could have returned to Elijah for since this 'Huff needed SERIOUS help with Runes. SPOILER!!: Louisa His warm fuzzy feelings of reuintedness were short lived however as SHE turned up. GUH. HER. Elijah put on his best FAKE smile and even returned her, "Hi," as she greeted the pair. He tried his hardest not to roll his eyes as she began to speak again, but she didn't even get to finish what she was saying as she SNEEZED. Eugggghhh. She was ridden with HORRIDness. Could she just please leave and go find her seat? Elijah's smile returned as the Head Girl went off to do just that... and then returned with a chair to hand. Merlin, no. No. No. No. No. No. She planked herself right in between the pair of them. Elijah's first reaction was to raise a hand to his mouth, trying to subtly shield himself from any potentially lingering germs. The nightmare didn't stop there as she even started MOVING their desks around. Elijah leaned behind her at one point and gave Vickers THEE look. The one that said 'What the heck was she doing and STOP HER'. His fake smile returned once more when she was thoroughly satisfied with her furniture rearrangements. "SO. very. Excited," Elijah forced through gritted teeth, throwing another sharp look Vee's way when she was looking elsewhere. SPOILER!!: Christiansen His anger was momentarily distracted when the Professor began speaking. What did he say? Maybe it was a good thing to have two 'Claws here. They could translate for them. Well, Vickers could... He placed a hand on Louisa's shoulder and pushed her right back into her chair, leaning over her and whispering to Vickers, hand covering the side of his mouth to detach Louisa from the conversation and whispered, "What is this guyy saayingggg?" |

As class begun, Daichi listened to the Professor and he scratched the back of his neck. He had almost forgotten how impossible it was to know what he was saying so the Slytherin was seated on the edge of his chair to get every word and tried to make a sentence of it himself. He got the Runes part...and vat was what so perhaps he was asking what runes were? Slowly, Daichi raised his hand. "Runes are stones with weird symbols on them" yup. |
Ella smiled when Oakey sat down next to her, giving him a nod before focusing on the Professor. Um...and that accent? It was definitely going to be tough to follow. Ella was going to try, though. Try really hard. Oh! And the first question. Runes. What are runes? "Professor, runes are symbols that make up an alphabet and can be used to tell us things...about ourselves and um...situations." Right? Like that's essentially when one did when they read runes? Ella hoped it made sense. |
Ancient Runes...seemed...difficult. Especially when the professor's English was...well, lacking. She had to REALLY strain her ears to catch anything he was saying...it all sort of just went together... Well, shouldn't THIS be a fun lesson...hmmph. She eyed Ethan and Hannah...ooohh no...no...not good. Hannah STOP IT! she wanted to yell at her friend..but...well, she couldn't say anything now! Class had started! And no, Elliot had NO clue what Ancient Runes were...a very difficult subject?! Probably..but she did't think that counted as an answer....so she stayed quiet...for now. |
What are runes? Well that was a good question. This was her third year here and she was still pretty confused about the whole subject. She knew that it had something to do with letters and being old and solving a riddle kind of thing. Hmm...put it all together and what do you get? A big ball of confusion that's what. Still she needed to say something right? "Professor runes are letters that have meaning once they are deciphered." |
Laura looked at the Professor and smiled. "A runes is where someone goes and causes mayhem." Laura was sure that was right. "Like when people go to war loads of people say they leave behind them stuff in runes." Laura sighed, she didn't think it was right of them to do that but apparently that is what they do. |
Minerva smiled, yuup still the same accent that was hard to understand. She tried to make sure to listen really closely so that she didn't miss what he said. Putting up her hand, "Professor, Runes are Greek letters that have specific meanings, and used the correct way some can help protect you and do other significant things." She couldn't remember everything they did, but she hoped to be close. |
SPOILER!!: Louisa, Elijah and Professor Tristan Just as the Ravenclaw has finished getting his lecture taking materials all lined up he shifted his head towards the sound of his girlfriend's voice. He met her happy greeting with a bright beaming grin of his own-- which turned into a wince the minute she sneezed. Awww his girl still wasnt feeling well. He followed her with his gaze and before he could give Elijah a sorry-gotta-join-the-girlfriend-clap on the shoulder the girlfriend joined THEM. Yeahhhh boyfriend wasnt expecting that. Neither was the boyfriend's best bud from the look on his face. The Ravenerd's brows goes up and gives the Curly Puff a hapless shrug before quickly returning his happy beam to Louisa as she finally settled down into her seat. And in good time too. All that table scuffling was getting a little unnerving, even to a half-deaf like him. Aaand the Professor opened his mouth. Vickers stared slightly agape at the man for a moment, brain trying to process the sounds that just came out of there. It was English right? He thought he recognized some of the words. His attention shifted to his seat mates when Elijah started whispering for a translation... AND cupping his hands right in front of the Head Girl. Who can HEAR him clearly. Vickers waved his hand sharply in the air to get Elijah to drop his cupped hand. Dont insult ze ...errr THE girlfriend. "What.... are..... Runes?" he murmured, repeating it for himself for clarity as much as it was for Elijah and Louisa. "Runes.... are?.... an old way of writing..." he trailed off at the end. Because he wasnt sure if the Professor asked a question or gave a statement or what. |
Nigel was amazed that people could understand what he was saying. It sounded like heavily accented broken English. He thinks he understood the question because he heard the heard runes. So what were runes. Nigel could answer that question. "Runes were letters used to write in many languages and Professor can you write the next question or set of instructions on the board? Because i have a hard time understanding your awesome accent. " Nigel hoped he did not lose points for say it . But he did say his accent was awesome. |
Text Cut: Elijah & Vickers & Prof ^.^ Louisa was oblivious to the shrugging and horrified looks shared between the two Soon the professor started his usual brief and gibberish introduction. She wasn't fazed by the accent, he'd taught her two terms before. However, she WAS more than fazed when Elijah pushed her back against the chair and whispered to Vickers, using his hand as a shield. HOW RUDE! It was so fortunate that Vickers waved that cupped hand away and answered openly. Louisa's eyes never left the Hufflepuff, just glaring at him. FAIN. If he wish it. She nudged him, a bit harshly, to get away from her desk |
It was hard work not to be amused by the antics of Louisa and company, and Vivi caught up her bottom lip to keep from laughing at them. She could certainly commiserate with Elijah, in spite of her separate friendships with Vick and Louisa... she had cast more anti-illness charms on her bed in the past few weeks than could be considered polite behavior, but at least she hadn't moved out of the room as soon as Louisa took ill. The professor's question was met with a number of silly or short answers, and Vivi was relieved to hear some of her classmates finally answer as if they knew anything about Runes. Was it not taught here normally? Her hand shot into the air and she wiggled her fingers to be sure the professor saw her. "Normally, 'runes' refers to any of several alphabets that pre-date the more commonly used Latin alphabet. The one I've seen most often studied is the Elder Futhark, which is of Scandinavian origin. Runes have a specific phonetic connotation, so you could spell our a common word using a different alphabet like a code, but they are more commonly used today in spellwork or a form of divination." |
Eliza was really interested in Ancient Runes, mainly because she knew so little about them. Anything slightly cryptic or mysterious was sure to send her curiosity flying. She even liked the professor's accent. It sort of made the whole lesson all the more interesting. She'd taken a seat as near to Elliot as she could, since she felt a little more acquainted with her from speaking in the common room. Even if the conversation had been a bit...strained, at times. She thought the older girl was spunky and therefore was someone she wanted to talk to more. Knowing Elliot probably wasn't the type to be excited about a first year trying to chat her up in class, Eliza didn't bound up to her as she might have done to Cora. Instead she casually raised her hand, knowing she really hadn't the foggiest bit of worthwhile information about runes, but that speaking in class would let Elliot know that she was right behind her. "Runes are a really old way of using magic. They're not commonly used anymore, but they can still be very powerful." That sounded like a good enough fluff answer for now. At least until she actually learned something about them. |
Kurumi sat and somewhat squirmed uncomfortably in her seat as the lesson began. Yep, right from the start Kurumi was already lost. Understanding this man's greetings was a struggle for the Gryffindor who still struggled with British English at times...so this man...just no. NOT that she wasn't trying, because she really was. She hated not knowing what was going on in a class - and not because the subject matter was too difficult. Sinking down in her seat juuuuuuuuuust a little, Kurumi idly traced her quill over her parchment while she listened to others answer first so she could get a general idea for what they were all talking about. Oh, okay, Kurumi could answer this...assuming the question was what are runes...which people's answers seemed to be indicating. So, hand up it was. "Runes, which means mystery or secret, are originally an alphabetic script used by the people of Northern Europe until around the Middle Ages when the Roman alphabet became the preferred script of most of Europe." |
Cardigan had a little trouble processing what the professor had said. His accent was a little confusing! She got it in the end though. What are runes? Hmmm...good question.... She didn't have a definite answer, seeing she hadn't taken the class in years past. Was it even offered for first and second years?? She wasn't quite sure. Anyways, she decided it would be easier for her to just piggyback off of what everyone else said, and come up with one big answer. "Professor," Cardigan said, raising her hand high. "Runes are....like the alphabet, just in a different form. Once you decipher them, they tell you something." Yeah, right. |

He raised his hand. "Runes are symbols derived from the Greek alphabet,'' he said. "They can also be incantations.'' |
Runes? What were they really? No matter how she tried thinking about it nothing came to mind. This was the point where the 11 year old stopped trying to bust her brain and instead began listening to everyone else's answer. For the most part they were actually quite good. Who said these people weren't very smart? Now from what she got...runes were...the alphabet..? "Neat! So then, we're gonna learn our ABC's?" Pssh, she had covered those a long time ago meaning this class would be a breeze. Why didn't anyone tell her this earlier? She would have been more enthused about this! Finally, a class that didn't require much brain power!!! Bring on the alphabet, she was soooo ready for this. GRIN. |
What did Professor mean by 'runes'? The subject... or the alphabet type of runes? HE MUST HAVE SAID IT COMPLETELY. Arguing with herself, Kat made a decision to just say both of the meanings. "Runes are the letters or symbols of the runic alphabet" Kat said, "But the Study of Ancient Runes helps in the study of the ancient runic scripts of magic." For answering both, Kat expects more points awarded to her. If she doesn't get those points, Merlin knows what she'd do. |

Good what to what? OH. Good day. He meant good day. Beezus snorted as her mind began to decode their Professor's words. Yes, it was indeed a good day. Great, even. With Ancient Runes on a peaceful Tuesday morning, and Professor Christiansen's face, yeah, it was good. All too good. The Ravenclaw still adored his accent. Not that it helps in figuring out the words that come out of his mouth though, those were still incomprehensible to her. And, yes! She's been well since he left. Not entirely but if he was asking if she was still breathing normally, then yes. "It's marvelous to have you here again with us Professor." GRIIIIIIN. "..You do still remember me, don't you?" Under her desk, she crossed her fingers, hoping that the man at least could remember her family name. It'll definitely make her day! Okay, on to the lesson. Runes. Hand in the air, the brunette answered, "Professor Tristan, runes are an ancient Germanic alphabet, used for writing, divination and magic. The word "rune" actually means mystery, secret or whisper. Each rune has esoteric meanings and properties associated with it, beyond its mundane meaning and phonetic value." Slight pause.. "Oh, and each rune has a story attached to it, a relationship to a Norse God." So Professor, what's got you busy nowadays? |
Accent guy! He was back. With a pout on her face, Renesmee listened carefully trying to understand what the Professor was saying. It took her a tiny bit longer than usual, but she got it at the end. Or at least she understood his question, which ws the important part, no? What were runes? More pouting. Runes were...well they confusing in Nessie's opinion. The red head decided giving a complicated answer was not something she could do in a lesson like this and so instead she raised her hand with a simple answer in mind. "Proffesor, Runes are alphabetic letters that make up a very hard-to-talk-in language." You know because the pronounciation of most of the words were hard. |
SPOILER!!: Christiansen As Elektra sat in class she then was taken off guard by the Professor's accent. It was definately something she didn't see coming. Her eyes widened and she looked at Professor Christiansen with a bit of shock on her face. Oh, bloody hell...how am I going to understand this now?! She thought to herself. But...she was going to tough it out and try to understand what he was saying through his accent. She then heard the question and raised her said and said, "Runes are a similar mark of mysterious or magic significance...I think..." |
Orr picked up her hand and answered the Professor's question: "Well. Runes were used as the alphabet before Latin came along. Now I think that Runes is used mostly in magic in order to better understand magic and its uses?" She thought that she was right but she couldn't know for sure. Honestly she had no clue about what Runes were really. |
Cora saw that she recognized a few people in the classroom. She saw Elliot across the room, and Eliza close to her. Maybe they'll be friends? Cora chuckled. Probably not. Cora blushed as she saw Ethan. Then Cora noticed the professor. Her mouth fell open. Now of course Cora was easily intimidated, but Cora thought even if she wasn't, she would be taken aback by him. His accent made every word he said sharp, but at least he smiled. Still, Cora was quite frightened. Cora loved the idea of learning essentially a new language to expand her reading and knowledge. "R-Runes are a series of symbols forming an alphabet used an extremely long time ago. By learning them, one could be able to read and translate things written in the past." Cora said very quietly. Maybe if the professor proved kind she could warm up to him. Maybe. |

SPOILER!!: Vee and Louisa Elijah did a small eyeroll, as Vickers waved his hand away from his face, forcing him to involve his After Vickers had explained what it was the Professor had said, he couldn't help but feel the NUDGE that Lady Voldemort sent his way, almost making him topple off his seat. HOW RUDE. Resting back as the Head Girl literally COUGHED out her answer, Elijah began to mimic her by moving his lips silently and pulling faces right to the back of her HEAD. When she was done, Elijah said aloud, "I wonder if there is a rune that translates as intruder?" A quick glance to the Head Girl and then to the man in charge, "Professor?" Even if the man did answer him, there was very little chance he'd probably even know what he was saying to him. |
also a little mention of Kurumi ^_^ Blink...blink... Huh? Penelope wasn't sure what the professor had just said. Or asked. So...she just sort of sat there, glancing at a few of the students who had managed to answer, including Kurumi. She knew what was going on? Well, she probably shouldn't be surprised since Kurumi seemed to know everything...but at least now she knew who to go to for help in this class...once it was over? Why didn't she sit by Kurumi before class had started? Not the brightest move on her part. Meh. Maybe if there was an activity she could partner with her? Or at least get closer and ask what was going on. Yeah, that sounded like a plan. So until then, the second year continued to sit there and kept quiet. |

catch up sort of.. Ethan had graced each of the girls that had greeted him with a charming smile. No time to talk now.. that could come later as class was beginning. He looked up vaguely to the front of the class as the professor started speaking. The accent struck him somewhat.. but only as different to this part of the world. He didn't have too much trouble understanding him as he spent time in other countries, but that didn't mean he was paying much attention.. because runes were still just that.. boring. The boy didn't say anything in answer to the first question as everyone else seemed so eager to answer. Shrug. But he thought about the next one.. and thought he remembered the name. "Is it Futhark, Professor?" he asked after raising his hand. He wasn't completely sure he remembered it correctly. "It's from the first few letters of the alphabet.. I think." Eh.. maybe he should have payed more attention in class last term. |
YES! She was right! Cardigan hadn't fully understood what the professor had said, but she did catch a little bit. It wasn't THAT hard to understand though, cause that's how her mum sounded like, when she spoke English. She was better with Russian and German. They needed to have a language class at Hogwarts or something! Maybe it could be a muggle studies topic one year... She'd have to ask Professor Cerulean about it. Who knows what the alphabet is called and why?! Psssshhh, that's easy! It's called ancient runes, because they're OLD. DUH! Why else would they be called that?! "Professor, they're called.............Furthark?, because they're old," Cardigan said in a quiet and serious, raising her hand. She didn't want to seem like she was trying to be funny, and lose house points. That's SERIOUSLY what she knew. She'd never taken the course before, remember?? Her mum made her take it this year... |
Minerva frowned.. Where did she get Greek from. She hated being wrong, it just made her mood bad. She tried to shake it off and turn to the next question. Listening to the other students she heard more of the answers. Then it came to the next question. Now this one she did know. She might not be able to pronounce it completely correct, but she did know it. "Professor, it is called the Elder Futhark" she hoped she pronounced it correctly. |

Nice going Professor. Alexa Cambridge was officially discouraged. Hadn't he just sort of confirmed that they would be learning the alphabet? What was he even asking? She didn't know the alphabet had another name. When was anyone planning to tell her this? :whaa: She sunk down in her seat, quite clearly convinced that there would be no pre-school lesson. She felt so lied to and now to make matters worse the older children were saying words she didn't know and wasn't even sure she'd ever be able to pronounce. Futhark? Was that even a word?! This called for a question but it was best to hold it for a bit...you know...see how the class progressed first. In the meantime she would keep her mouth shut and look pretty until something popped up that she actually knew the answer to. Yup. |
He did not take points off. Well Nigel was relieved. He even was beginning to understand him better. His accent was awesome and it was growing on Nigel. But Nigel could understand how Laura heard Ruins instead of Runes. With his accent you can easily hear Ruins. Well back to the question. "The Alphabet is called Elder Futhark. And it is called that because it is the oldest." Nigel could cope with his awesome accent. It this lesson that nigel might not be able to cope with. |

Oh phew, she had guessed his question correctly...now came the next one... Um...alphabet. She knew that word. So, the runic alphabet was being discussed, she could guess that much - especially when a few people mentioned the actual name. So, venturing to add something, Kurumi raised her hand. "The alphabet is the Futhark, or as we have come to call it the Elder Futhark, which gets its name from initias the first six rune names. F from Fehu, U from Uruz, Th from Thurisaz, A from Ansuz, R from Raido, and K from Kenaz." Thank you OWL and NEWT studies. |
Dylan sat back in his seat and observed his class mates. Yes. They knew what it was called...Everyone knew that. Were they reviewing or something? But...just to contribute..."Since everyone pretty much knows what it's called...I'd like to offer a fact." No disrespect, of course. Cora was still very frightened of the professor, despite the fact that he seemed nice enough. She was generally a good judge of character, but she needed time to warm up to him. So she listened to the other answers. Futhark? She didn't even know what that was. Immediately uncomfortable with her lack of knowledge, Cora was determined to learn everything about Ancient Runes. Cue the note taking. |
Louisa, Elijah and ze Prof He turned his head toward Louisa when she began to speak. Whoah.... girlfriend gave a great answer.... Better yet she understood the Professor! Cue lovestruck gazing from boyfriend.... .... which of course was ruined by best bud pulling faces from behind. Cue annoyed glare from best bud's best bud. Although Elijah's question about finding Runes representation for intruder did catch his curiosity (and furthering his annoyance a bit more since he just KNOWS why the Curly Puff asked that) but the Professor spoke towards their group. There was an answer in there right? Maybe he should get one of those self writing quills that can translate into several different languages. Goodness knows he needs one right now. And there was another question from the Professor... or at least his intonation indicated it was a question. What that question was... Vickers was a little lost.... brain still processing sound... tic toc tic toc. |
a smile @ roomie Vivi Text Cut: Elijah xD & Prof Yet another fortunate chance for young Elijah that Louisa didn't catch him mocking her while she answered, she did have her foot pretty close to Elijah's and he certainly knew how that could be used as a hammer in time of need. Louisa caught Vivi's eye and gave her a smile and a silent salute, the roomie helped a lot during Louisa's illness. At least she didn't cringe so offensively like certain people. Then Elijah's question echoed through the classroom causing the Ravenclaw's eye to twitch as she forced herself to stay sweetly calm. Girls were far better at this than boys by the way, it's a universally known fact. So when the professor asked Elijah why he wanted to know, Louisa shot her hand in the air and blurted out an answer of her own, "Oh Elijah is a pretty outstanding student when it comes to Ancient Runes, sir." She gave the Hufflepuff a poisonous sweet smile. "Always up for extra knowledge and assignments, too." There it wasn't a bad revenge or come back, not a strong one either. Just playing with the curly head's nerves. Text Cut: Vickers & Prof's question Even for someone who could make out that deep accent, Louisa had to squint her eyes at the man and try to repeat his words in her heads a couple of times before understanding the keywords. She was about to answer but Vickers' thoughtful and confused face. She leaned closer and whispered the translation, "He's asking about the alphab--" ACHUU! MERLIN'S BEARD! Louisa flushed as her handkerchief clasped on her nose and mouth, embarrassingly wiping. Stupid flu!! She went on with her translation, her voice muffled with the hanky, "The alphabet. What it's called and why." Once she was sure no upcoming sneezes were going to surprise her, she raised her hand, "There are many Runic alphabets, sir. The Elder Futhark, the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc, the Younger Futhark and more. The Elder Futhark is the oldest version and we've been studying that in Hogwarts." Well, at least for as long as Louisa had been here. "It's called Elder after the thought that it's the oldest Runic alphabet, and Futhark after the initial of the first six rune names." She didn't know whether to go on with her explanation or not. |
Class had just started and already the professor was starting to loose Hannah. She knew she didn't pay that close attention in previous classes, but she was beginning to wonder if she listened to anything at all. "The alphabet is called Futhark." But whhhy is was called that was a different story. She had no idea why. She knew that somebody would know the answer though. *eyes Ravenclaws* Merlin! she was going to have to take notes this term. |

And since someone already mentioned the guy behind all this, Elder Futhark, she had nothing else to add. Yep. |
Tiny mention of Elijah. xD Glare. Averting her eyes from the Professor for a short moment, Nessie looked over to Elijah and gave him a rude stare. She was still made at him for potions, and soon, soon she'd get him back. All she needed was to find a good way to do so Huh? Her attention was lost when the Professor asked his next question, and because of thaa Nessie was unsure what the others were really talking about. Futhark? Well whatever that was, it was tongue twister and just like every other word in Ancient Runes it wasn't something Nessie could say easily. Trying to look like she was paying full attention, Ness raised her hand. "Fart-huk" WHOOPS! That was a mistake. "Um..I mean Futhark..Professor, or whatever it was, Professor." Ness wasn't even aware of what the actual answer was really about, which made this whole situation a little worse. People hadn't noticed though right? Because then... Erm..where was an invisibilty cloak when she needed one? |
Sarah remembered that from last year.. or whereever she learned it from. she raised her hand "It is called the elder Futhark. Futhark is an acronym for the first sequence of runes. Acronyms help us remember things. Using the word Futhark as a benchmark, I can name the first few runes. I know the first one starts with an 'f', so therefore it must be Fehu" |
Orr shook her head. She didn't have a clue what the Rune Alphabet was called but...but...maybe it could be. She put up her hand quickly before she lost her nerve and said, "Um...Professor? I don't know the name but could it have to do with the first few letters in the alphabet? Since our alphabet nowadays actually is named after the first two letters of the Greek Alphabet." She hoped that she didn't sound like an idiot |

SPOILER!!: Correct Answers "Ya. Good. Zat is correct. Elder Futhark, because of ze first six letters." He said nodding and making notes. SPOILER!!: Half Right "Yes it's called ze Elder Futhark, bui not becauser it's ze oldest." He said and laughed. SPOILER!!: you forgot the WHY "You forgots ze vy... vy is it called zat." Pointing above the students he drew the Futhark in the air for them: http://i50.tinypic.com/24o4kg6.gif "Pick one rune and tell me it's meanink." He said waiting for the students to start off. |
Hmm....Looking at the list of runes, Ella tried to pick the one she knew the most about. Her eyes landed on the lightning bolt looking one and the third year smiled. Yup. She knew about Sowilo. Raising her hand, the small blonde sat up a little straighter waiting to share. "Professor, Sowilo means the sun and it has to do with um..." Wait, it was all good stuff, yeah? She bit her lip, searching her brain for what Sowilo represented. "Oh! It represents success and health and stuff." Or something like that. |

*gulp* |
Minerva frowned and leaned in her chair lower. She never felt so dumb as she did right now. She was never wrong.. well at least as much as she was in this class at this moment. Looking at the Runes she put her hand up, but she spoke really quiet and unsure, "Professor Mannaz Rune is the run that means mankind or humankind awareness." She put her hand down and look at her parchment afraid that she was totally off again. |
Laura looked at the Professor and smiled. "Isa is that called the Isa because it's an eyesore?!" Laura wasn't sure if it was but it was worth a shot right, she can't be that wrong an anyway these weren't used now so it was all history right. |
Text Cut: Professor Cassia stared at the runes. At first sight they didn't mean anything to her. She couldn't decipher any of them. It was her first lesson but she had once listened to some friends studying and discussing them. So she expected herself to remember something. Anything! And she even read in the book a couple of minutes this morning. So why wasn't she remembering anything? Stare..Stare.. But when students started answering. A couple of things popped into her brain. She leaned forward focusing and then raised her hand slowly, "Isa...is the ice rune..." She glanced at the Professor questioningly. She remembers that the one like an I had something to do with cold. That's how she connected it. And ice is actually close to the word ice. That's how she remembered it. |
Orr put up her hand and waited for the Professor to call on her before saying, "Well, I really like the shape and meaning of Algiz--it means protection and higher self." |
SPOILER!!: Louisa (plus Elijah of course) He could almost feel the gears in his head turn painfully slow as he tried to make heads or tails of what the Professor said, when he felt Louisa move closer to him. She as going to translate! Huzz-- -- no she sneezed.:whaa: And now she translated it. "Thanks Louisa." he nodded quietly and gave her a thankful smile, although at the back if his head he struggled with his OCD kicking into high gear, trying to keep his fingers stapled onto his desk and not whip out his wand and scourgify every square inch of his face, his clothes, his things, his desk and doing the same to her. He scolded himself quietly to keep calm, after all she has been under the weather since December rolled around, and he has attended to her, given her hugs-- whatever she has, he already has it. So he should just chill right? Right. Thing is probably everybody he has had contact with may have the bug whizzing around inside them too by now. Ooops. Merry Christmas Elijah. And really, keeping calm SPOILER!!: Tristansen Ok he understood the pick one rune... but tell him the what? Again wheels spinning in this Ravenclaw's head. The most he can probably do was just say something about one of them right? Oh boy here we go half guessing... and up goes the hand "Uhm Professor there is the Jera Rune, its the 4th symbol in the second Ætt, it has a general meaning of harvest, fertility and fruition, which essentially means successful endeavors or that there are hopes for peace and prosperity." |
Little help for Elijah Again, Vivi rolled her eyes for Louisa's benefit, although perhaps a bit at Louisa as well. Elijah was harmless, and occasionally quite funny. Plus, the professor had asked him an actual question, and since Vivi was a bit put out at the man for not realizing she'd answered his Elder Futhark question before he'd even asked it, she decided to do a question!steal and help a curly-haired-'Puff out. Hand up! "Professor, I'm not sure what Elijah's opinion is, but I would say Hagalaz would represent the intruder quite well. That rune is the one of disruption and interference, although not insurmountable ones. Some might even interpret interference as an opportunity for growth. What do you think, Mr. Wilde?" Boom. Vivi does Runes. Take it and run, Elijah-Puff. |
Oakey watched as the Professor swished each of the letters into he air and asked what each one was and what it meant. His eyes laid upon the very last Rune, and Oakey spoke up. "Professor, the last Rune in the Elder Furthark, Othala. It is commonly associated with Peace, Freedom, Nobility, and translates literally to Homeland." |
Where were these people getting all these answers? HOW were they getting these answers? Those letters--no, those things didn't look anything like the alphabet. Once again she would be unable to make an educated guess as to what he was talking about. For a split second she thought that staring a little harder would make them magically transform into a language that she actually understood but that dream quickly died when all she got was a headache. Her eyes drifted over to Seri who seemed willing to voice what the 11 year old didn't feel like saying. She must have been just as frustrated. She turned to the runes once more, deciding to give it another try. This time her brows furrowed. "How do you all know so much just by looking at those squibbly things?" It was a serious question and she wanted it answered. Were they all looking through some kind of invincible glasses that deciphered this stuff? If so then where was her pair? |
Vickers at the end :) SPOILER!!: Louisa HEAD GURL SAY WHAT, NOW!? O________________________________________O Oh. She. Was. Going. To. Pay. So. Freakin. Hard. "How kind of you to say such kind things about me Louisaaa," Elijah responded through gritted teeth. "I, unlike Louisa, can truly appreciate Runes for what they are. She once said to me how Runes are only for realllly old and senile people. She is soooo ignorant to the true wonders of Runes. She probably thinks you are old and senile as well, Professor Christiansen, which is such a pity. I mean, LOOK Louisa! Not a grey hair on his... red... head," gingers were so weird, "I think you should apologise for being soooo rude." SPOILER!!: Christiansen Apparently shoving Louisa under the Express didn't exactly distract the Professor from Elijah's apparent wisdom for Runes. "Hm? Me? What do *I* think? Ummmm I think.... that... the onee Rune that reeeeeaaaallllly represents intrusion is... umm.... um...." Sweating. SWEATING. SPOILER!!: Vivi, OUR SAVIOUR "YES!" he practically shouted as Vivi gave him a lifejacket, "Yes. I was JUST about to say that, Vivi. It's sooo funny how our minds are so alike. As well as interference being opportunity for growth, I also see it as just mere rudeness and inconvenience, no?" he beamed at Louisa, completely smug with himself. "We should tooootttalllly talk Runes sometime after class, Vivi, when we're not in the wonderful Professor Christiansen's class," he gave her a small wink as thanks for her help in that, otherwise, extremely horrible situation. Elijah shot Vickers a look that could be directly translated too: 'Best get Lady Voldemort here under control lest you want the class to find out about your extremely 'non-childish' timepiece'. One would have to be very fluent in body language, though, to gain the FULL message, but Elijah had faith in Vickers. |
Cora glanced at the symbols. Some of them she recognized, others she didn't. Clearly she had seen these somewhere before, and she started thinking about where these could possibly be in her house. One especially caught her eye. It looked almost like a tree to her, and Cora knew she had known what it meant. "That one's Algiz," she said aloud but quietly. She remembered thinking about how a tree protected it's surroundings. "It is a shield, or protection. Defense against evil." Cora could really use a shield. |
with some Vivi & Elijah XD Quote:
"Perdo, or Perthro, means mystery or chance and typically implies a gamble. It can also be called the Rune of Probability and the role of luck," she said as she lowered her hand. Quote:
Then again, Kurumi wasn't sure why she was offering advice to the first year. Every time she tried to it had been thrown right back in her face. Which was why she quickly turned her attention back towards the front of the room and Professor Christiansen when she overheard Elijah asking to meet up with Vivi later to talk about runes. WAIT! That sounded aaaaaaaaawfully familiar! Venturing a glance at the Ravenclaw, Kurumi eyed Elijah for a brief moment before whispering to the blonde friend, "When he says talk runes...he doesn't really mean it..." Nope. Elijah studied everything before you even showed up and then talked about different things instead. Or soaked you with a well placed Aguamenti spell. |

Suddenly a hand reached over and tapped the textbook she had never opened since the day it was bought. She looked over immediately and saw that the hand belonged to Kurumi. Hopefully she was answering her question instead of gearing up to give her a lecture; she could do without one of those at the moment. Oh? ....Was it really that simple...? Just look in the text book? At first she was a bit sceptical, afterall, when had a book ever done anything good BUT she would give her prefect the benefit of the doubt so offering her an embarrassed smile she opened the book and began flipping through--aha! O_____O It really was in the book. She grinned over at the wonderfully helpful perfect. "Wow thanks!" And now to scan through...hmmm...interesting... "Umm...Nautiz shows sadness...." She scanned a bit more on the page, "but it's about like being strong and determined and stuff..." She liked this rune. |
Quote:
"There is Thurisaz. It mean the god Thor or giant." Nigel liked Thor he was cool. Even though he liked Iron Man better. |
SPOILER!!: Professor, yo Grinning widely at the Professor's head-nod, Dylan was about to contribute something else when the guy started going at some girl...The Slytherin heard...but didn't see. So, he had no idea who was getting it handed to them... ...And then they were asked to pick a rune... Eyeing the air-drawing, Dylan attempted to pick something not yet described...Hmm..."Eihwaz, Professor...means Yew Tree." A powerful wand-wood that fascinated him...Not that this had any kind of relationship to that...or did it? The Slytherin would research later..."For it to mean something relate-able to death, the yew tree...the characteristics are quite pleasant." |

Sarah had not known which rune to talk about so she in the end talked about Wunjo. "Wunjo means great happiness and celebration, the deserved kind. It can also mean a conflict in the future where one would have victorious gain". Sarah LOVED being happy... and why note. Happiness makes the word go around! She was happy to be alive, breathing and in Hogwarts. She was happy to have such an AMAZING family and friends. She was happy that Kurumi was HER prefect. In fact there was so much things to be happy about! |
Before Lewis got the chance to answer the professor's question his attention was caught by a student (Alexa) who was asking a rather...weird question. Almost rude if the professor took it the wrong way. His first reaction was to turn around to make sure that it wasn't a Hufflepuff. He could only pray to Merlin that Professor Christiansen wouldn't take the question the wrong way if it was. Well, OF COURSE he hoped that either way, no matter which house the person was in. He didn't exactly want ANYWAY to lose house points. Yes. Once he'd spotted the girl he first breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the gold and red on her robes and was immediately glad that it wasn't he who was going to have to deal with that student. Which was probably wrong but in that moment one hundred percent accurate. Plus, Kurumi was WAY better at the whole Prefecting thing. Which was what she was doing before he even got the chance to turn back around. Smiling at the Gryffindor slightly, Lewis did finally turn in his seat again to raise his hand to answer. The distraction had made him miss the other people's answers so he hoped nobody had talked about the rune he had chosen yet. "Raido represents a wagon which in turn stands for travel. So it usually means you're going to move or go on a journey or...there's going to be a significant change ahead but the rune means that you are going to know which path to take." Hopefully that made sense. He had sort of forgot the exact words he had had prepared in his head when he'd glanced at Kurumi there. Source: sunnyway.com |
The accent the man had was funny as always. But also confusing as always. Daichi wanted to laugh but figured that would be rude and he didn't want to loose points. But it seemed that the Professor was already targeting another student so he let out a quiet giggle that probably no one would hear. He wrote down notes on his parchment from what he could understand before he began to doodle. He was in the middle of drawing a snitch when a movement caught his attention and he looked up again to find the Futhark alphabet in the air. He placed his quill down and tried to concentrate on the question. It took some time but he finally got what the man wanted to know so he stared at the strange symbols before raising his hand. "Isa means Ice" he said and was the only thing he could remember. Runes was not his best subject... |
Text Cut: Elijah, Vick, & Vivi BAHAHAHAHA. The stammering of the Hufflepuff drew a smug smile on her face, and it widened even more when he pretended to be humble and then.... WHATWASHEONABOUT?!!!! Her smile was wiped off her face instantly and her jaw just simply dropped open at the nonsense Elijah was accusing her of. Yep, she was going to use big words like 'accuse' and 'penalty' and 'PUNISHMENT'. When he was done lying, she turned her gaze to the professor, "Professor Christiansen knows I wouldn't have said those lies." She retorted at the boy and snatched her parchment from the bag busying herself with Then Vivi helped Elijah with the answer, how Gryffindorish of her. Louisa didn't mind that since her real intention was to make the Hufflepuff merely comfortable. Her goal was changed now though, and once Elijah so shamelessly asked Vivi to go out on a FAKE study session a.k.a. a real date, Louisa snorted. Quote:
... and this gave her a BRILLIANT idea. Later. When the class was over because disturbing it more wasn't a wise move. |
Kat wasn't that talented in Runes. But, she did understand it. She's just not that good with those stuff. And... it's ancient. We don't use or do anything ancient. Not in this generation, no. She can't say she was forced to study this. But... ok. "The rune, Jera, literally means 'year', Kat had said. "And it is the rune for harvest or for peace on the land or in the heart." |
She forgot? No she didn't forget anything...she didn't know. How could she forget something that she didn't know? She didn't appreciate the whole shaking of the finger thing either...like she was a dog and just ate a shoe. Why did she even come to this class? Oh right her parents would kill her if she skipped it...right. She sucked it up and listened to the next question. She looked at the runes that he drew in the air. Surely she could remember one right? "Professor the rune fehu means wealth." Did she need to say more? Because there wasn't much more that you could really say about that could you? |
PFFT. PFFT. PFFT. Why, little Ms. Ravenclaw was suddenly not in the mood anymore. Why? Well, that was because Professor Christiansen didn't acknowledge her earlier question. She asked him if he remembered her and he ignored her and went to entertain the next person to hand out his idea. Was it so hard to say a yes, or a no? As questions were asked after the other, she chose to just stay silent on her seat, still feeling a bit upset but as the class took pace, she just couldn't stop herself but raise her hand when they were asked to select a rune along with its associated meaning. "Wunjo Professor.. it means joy, comfort, pleasure. It can also imply general success and recognition of worth." So see, she opted for a pleasant rune because even though she was upset, she still admired the man. |

An owl flew into the window, with a note. He read it and started packing his briefcase. "Homevork, is to pick one of zese, tell me ze meaninz, and how you may use it in your every day life. Due von veek from right now. Class Dismissed." SPOILER!!: Tristlation |
Blink.Blink. HUH? Class was over...already? Ella just kind of sat there, eyebrows raised. That had been the fasted lesson ever. At least she'd gotten through it without getting completely lost. That was an accomplishment. The third year copied down the homework and then packed her notes away, swinging her bag over her shoulder. "Bye Professor." She said on her way out of the room, excited she'd have some time to grab a hot chocolate before her next class. |
Notes in black Wait...WHAA?! The whole class was over? Just like that?! Sierra blinked. She thought she'd just missed a few parts of the discussion while taking notes, but she didn't realize the whole class would just come to an end. Great. Now she'd be even more lost than she already was. She sighed and at least jotted down a few notes. Quote:

Quote:
"Professor Christiansen?" she asked, because...after all this time, he most definitely should be a professor. "I got behind in my note-taking and didn't get to discuss things, but...I wrote some responses for you." She handed him the parchment. Err...what now? A nice goodbye? "Err, have a good day." |
Minerva smiled, finally she got something right. That made her feel better, but then an owl came in the window, not strange at all since they were at Hogwarts, BUT the professor packing up was something new. Class was over?? What was going on in this school... She looked around for a second and then took notes on the homework. Packing up she looked at the professor, "I hope everything is alright sir." she smiled and headed out of the room. |
When Daichi saw that an owl had flew in to the classroom and give the Professor a note, he was curious as to what it was. He craned his neck a little but couldn't see anything and he pouted his lips. Wait...class was over? huh? The Slytherin gave the man a very confused and unsure look. Was he kidding or not? Because class had only just started! "Professor? is everything okay?" he asked a little concerned because this had to be the shortest lesson in history. |
Elijah & Vickers :33 OHH! Class dismissed. That was an awfully short lesson but Louisa's Ravenclawness was shoved deep in the back of her mind, something more urgent was tugging at it. Her idea was completely brewed and seemed light and yet powerful. It might work and set things right with the curly head. So quickly, she blew her nose one last time in her handkerchief, and started scribbling down the homework instructions. She needed to get this up in the noticeboard in the common room... DONE. Her parchment and quill were dumped into her backpack in one swift motion and then it was mounted on her shoulder while the girl jumped to her feet a bit too excitedly and bent to give Vickers a peck on the cheek. "See you in the common room, Vick." She would've said they could go up together... but his So yeah, she meant literally watch your back. |
Waaaaiiit... So then...the class was over? Blink. Blink. Blink. But she had just gotten here--not that she was complaining; nope! Grabbing her apparently quite useful textbook she threw it in her bag and began clearing her desk. If this was how every class would be then she was perfectly fine with that! The whole runes thing was pretty complicated anyway. Clearly the Professor saw that the subject could only be appreciated in small doses and she couldn't agree more! This was one of the things in life that she would never question. "Bye Professor!" Freedom from complicated codes was nice. Really nice. |
Hmmph. "Forgive me for saying so...but the words you just said were positive things...The Yew Tree isn't, though." Shrug. "I mean, it's positive in that it's powerful. But power isn't always a good thing." Yes. That WAS a Slytherin saying that... ...And then the owl flew in...and they were getting dismissed? Huh? Erm, okay. What a perfect waste of his time... Standing, he made his way forward, grabbing a handout and stuffing it into his bag. "Have a good one, Professor." but it was said in a way that suggested otherwise. This had been such a waste of his time... |
Mhhmmm. Mhhmmmmhhm. WHAT?! Merlin say what? Class dismissed? The lesson was over? It was done? And it wasn't a joke? Along with her peers, Beezus eyed the Professor questioningly too. This class ended faster than Alec Summers had caught that last snitch during their match against Hufflepuff! He had to be kidding, right? And homework? UGH. "But...but Professor! The class barely started!" the Ravenclaw exclaimed defiantly. |
Eliza was just starting to get into the subject a little more when the owl flew into the room. An urgent letter? She wondered what could be so important that it had to interrupt the lesson. What?! Class dismissed already? Her jaw almost dropped when the professor just picked up his things and started to leave. Okay, now I'm curious. She wrote down the homework and tried to remember what the students had said the other symbols meant, but what she really felt like investigating was this letter. She watched him closely, hoping he would toss it in the trash bin or leave it on his desk. Come on...forget it. Leave it on the floor. I want to know! She didn't really think herself to be a nosy person, although in this case she supposed she was. There were just so many little mysteries around this school that the not knowing was starting to drive her a bit crazy. She didn't see any sign of the letter though, much to her dismay. She looked at Cora and then to Elliot to see if they were as intrigued by this as she was, and gathered her things to leave. |
Awesome, Nigel got one right. But it was short lived because class was now over. Something must have been important in that letter because right when he finished reading it, he dismissed class. Well, Nigel was okay with it. He packed up his things. "Bye, Professor". Then he left the classroom. |
