Of Professor Isabelle Magnus The Office of Professor Isabelle Magnus Upon entering the office, after being invited in by the professor, the first thing you notice are two plush chairs just asking to be sat in. Beyond those is a large dark wooden desk, and a slightly bigger chair for Isabelle herself. The desk is covered in various bits of parchment and photo frames - which, if you get at the right angle, you can see contain pictures of her with her husband and other family members. A brand new addition is an extra large frame containing a picture of Isabelle's daughter Scarlet at one month old. OOC: Please don't post inside the office until you have been invited in by Isabelle. The Corridor Outside is the place to wait. Just have your character knock on her door there, and when she is ready for you, I will quote you and ask you to come in. Thanks. |
Alyssa opened the door and entered Professor Magnus' office when she heard the Professor call out to her to enter. Walking up to where the Professor sat, Alyssa stood in front of her desk and smiled at her. "Good morning, Professor. It is good to see you looking well. I hope that you had a wonderful Summer." "Anyway, I'm here today to ask whether it would be possible for you to be my tutor this year. I read up on the books you recommended to me on the subject of Animagus transformation, as well as spoke with some of my older family members." "I still am very interested to learn to be one, and I promise that I'll work hard and do whatever you want me to do. Will you teach me, Professor?"Alyssa asked. She was afraid that the Professor would tell her no like she had last year. So she held her breath while waiting anxiously to hear what Professor Magnus had to say. |

"Hello" the twelve year old grinned up at her. She wasn't expecting him? Well his mother had been the one to tell him to go see her as soon as he had unpacked and looked around a bit. "I was heading up here anyway, I wanted to come see your office" Because who wouldn't? Teachers offices showed you what they liked and stuff. Gave you an insight to them, possible secrets. Not that he would use them against them of course, Terry wasn't like that at all. "And you" he added quickly on the end. He followed her through to her office and glanced around. One of the objects on her shelf looked familiar, maybe his mum had bought her it for a birthday or something. "Good thank you" he sat down on a chair, only to catch notice of the cat that was in the office. Oh she was so pretty! You could really tell the family liked animals a lot. He tickled the cat behind her ears. "I love it, its so big and exciting" he chuckled. And lessons hadn't even properly started yet. |

"Morning, Miss Potter. Thank you, I had a lovely summer..." She was just about to ask if the Hufflepuff did as well when it was straight on to business. Animagus teaching. "Of course I will, yes. And I'm glad to hear you read up on the subject and did some asking of people that know. I was actually going to find you later today to set you a task before we launch into any training." Isabelle leant forward in her chair and picked up her tea cup again. Taking a quick sip, she studied Alyssa's face to see what reaction her last sentence would provoke. "I'd like you to write me up an essay on everything you have learned so far from other sources, about being and becoming an Animagus. Then deliver it to me, so I can read up on what you know. Your learning will encompass the next three years, so taking time to do this won't set you back." In case she wondered. Quote:
As Angel purred gently to the tickling, Issy went around her desk and sat down opposite her cousin, nodding as he answered her question. At least he was fitting in okay. Although she was sure he wouldn't tell her too much if he wasn't. Having a member of staff on your side for any trouble might have been embarrassing enough for a teenage Slytherin, nevermind it being a family member. "I'm really glad," she smiled back. "I know it's a long trek up here from the dungeons, but I hope you'll make it to my lessons?" |
To be honest, there wasn't really a lot in Isabe- Professor Magnus office that gave any more insight to her than he already knew. He was used to seeing her home and so her office wasn't really that much of a surprise. "It was for you" he nodded and resisted the urge to poke his tongue out. Would she take points from him if he did? "Did my mum get you that?" he pointed up at the Phoenix statue that was perched up on the shelf with the rest of her ornaments. It definitely looked familiar and it would be something his mum would buy for her, on her birthday or something. He watched as she sat down opposite him and he drew his legs up to sit cross legged on the chair, it was more comfortable. "Would you be angry if I didn't?" he chuckled. He was sure she'd tell his mum and his mum would definitely be angry at him. "I want to anyway, Transfiguration sounds really interesting." Well he knew it was, his mum had made sure to teach him all about it last year, he even liked the sound of becoming an Animagus. But not now of course, now he would focus on all the subjects and not just a few. |

"Get me what?" Isabelle turned in her seat to look in the direction Terry was pointing. She scanned the shelf quickly. "Oh, you mean the Phoenix? Yes actually, she did. For Christmas last year. Good spotting." Erica so did love her Phoenixes, and it was a really pretty little statue now taking pride of place in the centre of all her others. Issy leant back in her seat, crossed her legs, and wrapped her hands around her knee. She raised an eyebrow again and laughed gently at the response she got. "More disappointed than anything. And you know how much my being disappointed is worse than my being angry," she smirked. Not that he'd really ever done anything to warrant either from her, but he knew the sort of person she was. "Well, of course I'm biased on that, but I'd say it's very interesting." Looking around her desk she realised there was no food or drink to offer him. Not exactly being a good hostess was she. "Did you want something to eat or drink? I can send for some biscuits and juice from the elves...." |

"Good day Professor Magnus," he greeted the woman with a polite smile as he stood there. "I hope I'm not disturbing ye." |
SPOILER!!: Professor Magnus "I'm glad that you had a great summer, Professor. I apologize for rambling on the way I did. I still keep forgetting that I do need to pause and breath whenever I'm talking." Alyssa smiled apologetically at her Transfiguration Professor. She blinked when she heard what the Professor had to say next. 'Homework already?'Alyssa thought to herself. She almost wanted to sigh aloud, but decided against it. It did take patience to learn something and of course by showing the Professor what she knew about the subject, it would be way of letting the Professor know how much she did, or did not know, about being and becoming an Animagus. "An essay, Professor? How long do you want it to be? 10 pages?"Alyssa asked. |
Quote:
"What can I do for you?" Quote:
Issy narrowed her eyes while she watched her request sink in. Hmmm, the Hufflepuff didn't seem too enamoured with the idea at first, if she read her body language right. "Oh, no. Nothing as long as that," Issy chuckled. Ten pages was awfully long. "I think 2 should be all right. I don't need it right away, I can give you a week or so. Then once I've had a chance to read it I'll be able to get some idea of which things to teach you first." No point starting with things she already knew, after all. |
Quote:
"Okay Professor. Two pages it is. I'll get working on it right away and have it delivered to you in a week."Alyssa nodded her head. "Is there anything else you wish for me to do before I leave Professor?" Alyssa asked. |

"Well I havent made it know...oddly enough even to ye, that I've been studying to work on becoming an animangus," Gideon started out, feeling somewhat sheepish for never coming to the woman before now...it was her subject after all. Oh well, too late for regrets of that sort now. " Both on my own at school and with my parents when I'm home. They are both animangi themselves. " he explained further. "This summer I even began more of the actual physical changes being of age though it has not been without challenges of course." There was a reason why it was a somewhat less common ability and why it took so much effort to learn after all. And Gideon was well aware of that. "Though at the moment I seem to be having more then the expected problems...and I'm wondering..if I'm doing anything wrong? Or still adjusting to my new wand which is effecting my efforts? Or something else entirely and I figured it might be best to see ye for any assistance ye might be able to give." There...that was it in a nutshell. |

Licking her lips ready to speak, Issy shifted position and sat up straighter. "Well, for one thing, I'm glad you haven't tried to do this all on your own, but have experienced parents that can help," she smiled. Doing it on your own was the worst thing you could do, so much that could go wrong. So he was being very sensible. "As you say it is a very complicated process, so problems along the way are inevitable. A new wand certainly wouldn't help if you were used to using a different one at the beginning. If you could tell me exactly what sort of problems you're having, it might help me pinpoint a solution?" And this could take a while. Getting to the bottom of it. "Would you like a drink, Mister Gert?" |

Setting down her bag she decided to get to the question that was on her mind. "Professor I was talking with a friend the other day and I was teaching him the hair changing spell that you had taught us my first term here. It's one of my favorites, but I guess that's obvious for as much as my hair color changes through out the terms." Minerva couldn't help but laugh, she knew that people always wondered what color it would be next. Thinking of that she realized it had been blonde and pink for a little to long, that would need fixed soon. "Anyway, he had asked me if that spell could be used on other things, such as like pillows to change the color from like what to blue." she looked at the Professor wondering if this was an odd question to ask, "Anyway, I really wasn't sure of the answer, and I really haven't been able to find it in my books so I thought I would come by and ask you. If it is not the same spell, would you happen to know the spell that would change the color of objects?" she didn't want to let Alec down, she liked helping her friends. |
Quote:
Spells? The hair changing spell? Isabelle chuckled as Minerva talked, suddenly realising what it was about the girl that was often different. The hair colour. She was glad that something she'd taught was being used so often. But back to the point, yes. "Hmm, well no, that particular spell will only work on hair and eyes. But there are general colour changing spells, which are more Charms actually in classification. As you know some can cross over to both subjects though. In fact there are sometimes many spells which can do the same thing. Colovaria for one." Issy sat up straighter and scratched her chin. When was the last time she'd used that one? A while ago, it must have been. "That can do the same as Ristaris, but if I remember rightly, can be used on other objects as well." |
Quote:
Minerva smile started to grown, "I forgot that it could do eyes as well. Hmmm.. I have never tried that." she made a mental note to make sure to try her eye color soon. Then a thought came to her, hair and eyes for the first match..hmmm, oh wait no.. Badger suit no one would see it, well there would be another time. Shaking her head, "Yes, I thought about more charms, but figured I would start here." plus the fact that the charms professor scared her a bit... not as much as Professor Scabiors, but close. Then Professor Magnus said something that made Minerva think, "Colovaria" she wanted to put that to memory. She wondered if she should take out her parchment and write it down. "Now what would the wand movement be for this?" she wondered excitedly that she was getting somewhere and Alec would be excited. "Professor I have to say I have really enjoyed your lessons the last four years. Many things were so different coming here not knowing really anything about the wizard world, but transfiguration has been by far my favorite." She did love this class and seemed to do well in it. "I am very interested in learning these clothes spells. Now my question is, once we learn them and are good at them, do they work when your wearing an outfit or does it have to be something off the person...You know like if say I didn't like the top I had on, could I just change it while it was on or would I have to change it before placing it on." Yes another question that had been on her mind since the first class. She could just see Harvey's face if he knew she was asking this question. |
Quote:
"I just had a couple questions, if you don't mind," he began. The boy didn't exactly make it a habit to visit his teachers, but a couple pressing matters had led him to the sixth floor. "The first.. I was thinking of taking.. I mean, I wanted to go ice skating on the frozen lake," he corrected himself. Guh, Professor Magnus does not want to hear about your social life! He quickly composed himself with a smile before continuing. "Anyway, I was hoping you could tell me the spell for transfiguring shoes into ice skates.." Sure, he could visit the library for that information, but he figured this was easier. |
iFAIL! (Sorry Bazingaaaa) >_< Quote:
She was glad to help, of course. Although Isabelle didn't want to step on Sophia's shoes too much in the Charm's department, so if there were any more questions that went in that area she'd pass her along to her colleague. But for now, she was happy to oblige. "I believe it's a simple upward flick of the wrist, while pointing at the object in question," Issy smiled. Yes, simple from what she remembered of last using it. "That's very nice of you to say, Miss Wheatborn, thank you." Awww, well that was very sweet. Issy shifted in her seat and grinned. She was always pleased when students enjoyed what she taught, when they got enthusiastic about it. Oh, and she had questions. Nodding along as the question was explained, Issy licked her lips ready to reply. "Once they've been mastered to a certain high degree, then yes, you can change what you're wearing without removing it first. Although they're usually used on items that aren't already clothing, and it is best to see what you're doing when casting. But it's possible." -------------------------------------------------------- Quote:
Skating? That sounded like a lovely idea. As long as he was careful, of course. Folding her hands in her lap, she leant back in her seat and got comfy. "I can tell you, yes. But as you've never used it before, I'm guessing," or why else would he need to ask for it, eh? "Not sure how safe they'll be to use on the lake. I'd need your word that you'll try and perfect the spell first before launching yourself onto the ice." Isabelle gave him a one eyebrow raise and waited for that assurance before she proceeded. |
Lex walked in behind the Professor and stood awkwardly closer to the centre of the room. This wouldn't be a very long visit, especially since the Professor was in a hurry. "I'm sorry to be bothering you about this..." She started a little hesitantly. In fact Lex was almost sure the woman would laugh at her then send her off to get the homework done with everyone else. She didn't want to be laughed at! Coming here was a mistake--but she was already here and she couldn't just leave. That would have been a waste of the Professor's time. "But I really don't think I can work with that mannequin..." It was vicious and scary. "Isn't there anyway I could do the lesson and homework without it...or maybe you could make it into something less scary" The last part was mumbled and possibly hard to understand. |

He nodded as she began, his face turning a bit contemplative as she continued. Not safe if the spell wasn't perfected? What exactly would happen? Ethan was under the impression that it would either be transfigured properly or plainly not.. but she made it sound like they would appear to be skates but something could potentially go wrong like the blade disintegrating in mid-skate. Was that possible? He leaned closer, his eyes slightly widened, and said, "What do you think would happen, Professor?" His mind started churning, imagining different scenarios. Pushing those thoughts out of his head, he leaned back in his chair and said, "Of course, Professor. I wouldn't want to put anyone in danger.." He frowned a bit. He was sure she wouldn't be warning him if she hadn't already noticed how awful he was at Transfiguration. |
