Much like the first time they had met when Nathaniel Aspen decided to sit on her at the great lake, Delphi let out a slight, alarmed squeak of a noise not expecting the sudden change in direction. Though they both knew Nathan wouldn't have let her run into anything, Delphi was able to right herself easily enough and plopped into the seat across from him, tossing her sweater on the seat next to her.
The door being closed was a relief to Delphinia, it blocked out atleast some of the noise, and allowed her atleast a little bit of privacy with her best friend. Until some kid would decide to interrupt and make themself at home in their compartment.. but up until that point, the brunette was going to enjoy the ride in the company of the boy across from her.
"Go on, then. Let's hear it, Mr. Aspen," Delphi prodded, rather cheerfully compared to the girl from last year. "What have you been withholding from me in our letters?"
Yes. It was a relief to have this time with her finally. So much for letters and all - .. but to enjoy the whole ride with their talking and of nothing and everything. Nathan had been looking forward to that.
Her cheery mood threw Nathan off a bit - not because it was rare but because he didn't know what mood she will react with when he blurted out what he wanted to say. Perhaps .. he didn't need to tell her but this whole .. talking to her until they had nothing left to talk about code had him feeling .. extra 'sensitive' to spilling out everything.
"Umm .." he mused, looking out the window and then at her. "I kissed someone," Nathan decided to go with being simple.
There.

In truth, Delphinia had no idea what Nathan was going to say. Not the slightest clue, not even a wild guess. However, his answer surprised her greatly. Somehow, she was not expecting that. It was not even on the radar of random, wild guesses. It just didn't even register there.
Shock, that was the word for the look on her face. Smile fallen, mouth opened slightly, confusion settling into her features. Delphinia sat there for a moment, not really saying anything, not even looking at Nathan now as she tried to absorb this news.
"Okay," Letting it sink in, Delphi shifted her sitting position, pulling her feet up on the seat to sit sideways with her back against the window. Trying to make herself comfortable for the long ride ahead of them, and maybe this conversation as well. "Is that why you weren't here first?"
Hands folded between her knees. Her green eyes returned to his face, a small smile tugging at her lips again. The shock and confusion weren't totally gone, but she had recovered mostly.

Ella was quietly nomming on gummy worms, eyes looking out the window, when she heard someone slide open the compartment door. The girl was smaller than she was, probably a first year, and she looked startled to see someone already occupying the compartment. "Oh no, it's okay." Ella said with a reassuring smile, moving her things and sliding down a bit on the seat. "You can join me if you want, I'm Ella Bishop." You know, cause introductions were probably necessary, right? Oh...and the girl seemed to have noticed the gummy worms. This made the third year's smile widen a little bit. "You can have some...if you want." But seriously...who WOULDN'T want gummy worms?
Ari paused at the door of the compartment when the girl said that it was fine. Ariella smiled at her gratefully at her and stepping inside, pushing her trunk in before her. She sat down on one of the benches across from her and set Archer's cage down next to her.
"Nice to meet you Ella! I'm Ariella, but you can call me Ari," She said as she continued to eye the gummy words. Ella smiled at her some more and offered some of her snacks to Ari, "Yes please! I love these, my Nana brings me some when she visits!"
Ari took just a few of the worms and stuck one in her mouth. Yummm!

Or not seeing as she turned and saw the boy she had met at the bookstore.
"Pao! Of course you can come in!" She said with a wide smile before momentarily glancing over at the generous girl. It had to be okay or she wouldn't have put up the sign in the first place. Yes. So it was fine. She scooted over a bit more so he could take a seat next to her then patted the empty space. "Have a seat, the fudge is to die for." Kill for even...
Well good, she had remembered his name! Not that he doubted her capabilities, but he had clearly been memorable in some form. And she was smiling, so it was probably not a bad memory. At her invitation, he shot a glance at the other girl and made for the seat opposite her. "Thanks," Pao said, taking a seat in the recently vacated spot. He placed Thomas's cage next to him. "I hope no one is afraid of toads," he said courteously. He could always move or put his jacket over the cage like he'd done at King's Cross.
The first year looked up at the older girl, cracking a bit of a cautious smile. "So... free fudge, huh?" he said by way of explaining his reason to be present. Plus he wanted some. But he would wait until it was offered, just to be polite. "I'm Logan Mancini, by the way. But people call me Pao usually. My middle name is Paolo." He felt like it was always awkward to explain this. It was likely more information than people cared for, but they would think 'Pao' was a strange choice of nicknames unless he said everything.

That was her question?
Was he late because he was kissing someone? He felt a sudden urge to defend himself - on the basis that he would never have her wait on him because he was kissing someone. But he shook the defensive streak off. Because he had not been doing that.
So Nathan shook his head. "No," he said instead, tapping his fingers on the on his knee. "I .. uh kissed her in Diagon Alley," he said - wondering if it was good to go in detail. "It was for scientific reasons."
Well it was.

He was shaking his head at her. No. Okay.. then.. "In Diagon Alley," Delphi repeated slowly, eyebrows knitting together in confusion once again as he continued. "For scientific reasons."
Kissing girls in Diagon Alley, for scientific reasons. Right. Delphinia was pretty sure, she hadn't been this confused since she had been told of the accident that took her parents. And no, she really didn't need to be thinking about that right now. It was shoved from her mind, the instant it entered.
The smile gone from her face again, Delphi took to biting on her lower lip. Her gaze moved from Nathan, to her feet, to Nathan again - Waiting. Was she going to have to ask, or was he going to continue? Did Delphinia Suvari have the patience to wait for him to continue? .. No. Not really. She was confused. "How does swapping spit relate to science?" It was a blunt question, but a question no less.

Oh? His eyes widened as he carried on to hold back his tears.
"Are you a doctor?" He asked, pretty sure that this kid was NOT. Either way, he was not going to take first aid advice from a kid. Theo moved his foot back to the ground, "I'm fine..." Seeing him put his foot down before it was possible to warn him, Logan winced again. "You probably sprained it. Which means you need to keep your foot up and have ice put on it."
Ice. Where could he get ice? From a drink perhaps? Or maybe he could go find a Staff member on here who could heal it...

Pluuuus, I think they're awesome." Like me. But she didn't add that part in case she came off conceited. Which she totally wasn't.
Blue flailed and grinned. "That's COOL. She's cute." BEAMBEAMBEAM. She was. What was wrong with rats anyway? Okay, she wasn't about to go out and pick one out of the sewer or something and cuddle it but a clean, pet one was actually kind of adorable. "Can I hold her?" Reaching out to take her anyway. Gimme gimme gimme.
"Nice to meet ye Terry. I'm a SECOND YEAR which means I awesome." ^___^ Hehehe. "What year are you in?"
Rule the school? But wouldn't one of the older students do that? Because he would listen to an older student a lot more than he would someone his own age. "I bet loads of girls won't like him though" he replied. Terry really liked this girl already, she cared about animals as much as he did. "I agree! And it's the ugly creatures that are getting endangered. Plus they're all attractive in their own way" he nodded. That was what his mother had always told him anyway so that was what he believed. "I have a Phoenix at home but he's pretty as well as awesome." And unfortunately he had been banned from bringing Amadeus with him because he was far too precious to the family.
Terry beamed when the girl agreed with him about Brie being cute. "Good! So many girls are really scared of her but she wouldn't hurt a fly! Unless the fly was hurting her then she might but that doesn't count!" He nodded at her question and handed the rat over to her, placing Brie in her hand. The rat just squeaked and stared up at the girl with her beady eyes before choosing to curl up and fall asleep.
"I'm a second year too!" he grinned. "Does that mean I'm awesome too?" he chuckled, because he'd love that very much.

The great thing about being best friends with Delphi was that there was no awkwardness between them. Somehow .. whatever the situation maybe, Nathan never felt awkward or shy or nervous. But .. anxious as to what she might say, he did get.
And then came the question.
A very reasonable question.

He just wanted to know what she would think of him. "For scientific reasons" he air-quoted with his fingers. "Were her words not mine, I promise."

Aiden Kinsley sat in a compartment alone. He looked out the window and saw no faces he knew waving at him, saying goodbye.
Elliot had left her trunk somewhere...well, it was in another compartment. With Lottie. But she had told the girl she needed some 'me' time and left...she was sure the first year didn't mind, really. She had a book tucked under one arm, and her lacy backpack tucked under the other...
She slipped into a seemingly empty compartment, and plopped down on a seat...she opened her book, and then looked up..
WHAT IN BLOODY HELL?!
She gasped, scared, and then sighed. "Oh my...I'm really...sorry..." she grumbled, folding up her book and getting up..."I thought this compartment was empty..."
Oops.

With her cat Spot perched on her shoulder, Penelope followed Anya down the corridor, hoping they'd find a compartment soon - and they did. And no sign of Jake yet, thank Merlin. Penelope nodded. "Yeah, this is fine with me," she answered.

The Gryffindor stuffed her trunk into the overhead compartment, and turned around to face her company for the rest of the long journey to school. Alice was surprised to see two people she already knew, Anya and Penelope. She rather liked them, because she didn't have any mates in her house, so it was always good to make some. "HAI. Delphinia was silent as he explained, letting him speak without interuption, without judgement. Once he finished she remained quiet, though still watching him. So he had kissed some girl, because she had never been kissed before and wanted to know what it felt like - for 'scientific reasons'.
In the almost-year she had known Nathan, never had she thought of him as a gullible person. Because he wasn't. Possibly, he believed people too quickly. More importantly than that, though, he had a good heart in him. This, she knew personally. She felt certain he hadn't kissed some girl out of being tricked, pity, or 'scientific reasons'. It was out of kindness and an inability to let people down. Regardless of how silly the request.
"I believe you," She murmured to his promise, but shook her head a little. "Some girls are utterly ridiculous. Unless she was playing with the theory of how germs mate together in saliva, there was no science involved." Delphinia couldn't help it, she rolled her eyes. Girls - they bothered her sometimes. Girls like that did, anyway. "Either she likes you, or she's too impatient to wait for a proper first kiss."

He watched her as she took out a book. How cute, he thought. Aiden almost never saw anyone reading anymore. But, hey, he lived with a bunch of delinquents, so productivity wasn't something to be seen every day.
His dark eyes bore into her as she noticed him. "You don't have to leave," Aiden said.

And it came.
Despite of how she put it, Nathan asked what troubled him the most: "You don't think of me as a sleazy guy then?"
Sleazy. What a word, indeed.

"All right then...I won't..." she said softly with a shrug, and she plopped back down...she set her book aside, though. "I'm Elliot, by the way...Elliot Morganzo..." she introduced herself and held out her hand for him to shake.

Oh. Alice was in here too. Penelope simply nodded in agreement to Anya saying there was enough room since she didn't feel like speaking. And then, suddenly, Jake appeared and gave Anya a hug of course - but then he hugged her too? Penelope was too caught off guard to return the hug before he went to hug Alice as well. And of course he was going to join them. Probably only because Anya was present though, as far as Penelope could tell.
Then James arrived too. Penelope gave him a small wave and simply shrugged at his question about how they all were, letting Anya do the talking. It was just better that way. The second year had decided to just mind her own business for now, focusing on petting her cat, who was curled on her lap and staring at all the compartment's occupants as if waiting for them to do something entertaining.

Que habit of rubbing the back of the neck.
"Well yeah!" he said, smiling and catching the sweater she threw his way. Folding it somewhat, he set it against the window side and turned to bring his feet up and lay down with his head resting on the sweater.
"Was making sure you still liked me - especially after realizing how completely no sense it made what I was trying to tell you" he told her, feeling much more better - now that he was empty again.

Manners, ya' know?
Aiden blinked, breaking their eye contact. Her eyes were so blue. How was that possible?
"Im Aiden Kinsley," he said as she introduced herself, "Its a pleasure."
A smile spread on his face, making him look less serious with his buzz cut and dark eyes.

And then James and Jake appeared. Soon, their teensy compartment was filled with people. UHM. Alice beamed at everyone and bounced a little bit more. She was already having fun and she hadn't even reached Hogwarts yet. Jake was going around giving hugs to everyone; Alice gave him an extra big one when he came around to her. James and Anya were making small talk and.. Penelope was sitting all by herself, stroking a cat. She looked sad. Penelope always looked sad but whatever. She squashed herself in between Jake and Penelope. half-sitting on Jake's lap, and turned to her fellow Gryffindor. "Your cat is pretty."
Mellow.
She set her own pet, Frank, on her shoulder and gently stroked him between the eyes. He burbled at everyone in the compartment and then settled down for a nice nap. Alice gently slipped him into the overhead compartment, where he could rest peacefully on her trunk.
And then took a good look at the people she was surrounded by.
Penelope looked sad. And withdrawn. Was James.. sad as well? The third year couldn't tell. Anya looked excited and flustered. And Jake looked nervous. And fidgety. What was with everyone today? They were all being odd. Hmph. Did this have something to do with the almost-boyfriend thing Anya had told her about? "Are you all okay?" Alice didn't think so. Huh. Whatever. She turned back to Penelope and stared at the cat again. "His name is.. is Spot, right?" She had mentioned that at the Quidditch match. Quidditch.. she missed that almost as much as the food..
And now she was hungry. Drat.

Leave it to Nathan, to make use of the sweater she tossed at him. Delphinia smiled a bit more, shaking her head at him. There was a part of her that thought about pouncing on him, but it seemed he could use the moment to relax after worrying over something so silly, for who knows how long.
"You're my best friend, Nathan.." Of course she still liked him. This was probably one of the first few times Delphi had said those words outloud, although it had been quite clear he was for some time now. Her face warmed the tiniest bit, a hint of pink coloring her cheeks that she was quick to ignore. "What did you think about the request?"
Yes, Delphi was going to referr to it as 'the request', not 'the kiss' or 'the incident'. The former was just.. gross, really. For the reasons why it happened, in her mind, it was something along the lines of gross. Not on Nathan's part, but still. The latter, well.. Delphinia didn't use that word much. Nathan would know why, too.

Once she had explained herself, he couldn't help but nod since there was no need to disagree; he wasn't looking to find another way to get to Hogwarts because he hadn't paid attention and just ended up missing the train. There would have been a fantastic start to the term. "Right, at least you were paying attention honestly." The fact that someone did at least was all that had mattered and he started to haul his trunk and owl cage down the corridor, it could have been much easier with some kind of a truck or mini trolley but at least they didn't have to bring it into the school; that definitely would have been irritating and painful. Even for a superhero. As the conversation turned back to the chocolate, he had grinned a little bit since it had made a little bit of sense; there was no way they were going to be able to get coffee at school which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, it just had meant they were going to have to find other ways then sugar to end up bouncing off walls. "Maybe but I might tinker with it next time I'm able to get all the ingredients. And I still don't think so, but we'll just agree to disagree this time." He wasn't about to start a whole argument with her over something pointless since it would have just been a waste of time and he had just wanted to be able to get to a compartment so that he could sit down and relax.
Following behind her without question was really the best option for him since he knew she was looking for an empty compartment to put their stuff in and after a few minutes of wandering, they had entered a compartment but not before he caught the notice of fudge that was in another compartment; the chocolate that he had was much better and he just hadn't wanted to be dealing with a potential trick. He lifted his trunk up to the other luggage rack before setting the owl cage on the floor as Orion had just sat there without a peep, it was odd how he went from squawking loudly before when they were in the station to quiet as they were on the train but he wasn't about to just question it when the chocolate experiment was meant to continue. The notice of her hair changing colours had made him take mental notes as it had gotten much darker then before but quickly he had been distracted by the box of chocolate in front of him, he handed it to her before listening to what she had to say. "Hmm.. I guess we'll find out for sure when we get to Hogwarts but there is a possibility they could be related, it definitely would be interesting." But he wasn't curious enough to find out right now, instead he took a few truffles before sitting down on the seat behind in front of him.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
He Mentally cursed himself as he wandered from compartment to compartment with candy in his hands. Next time he would make a mental note of where he was seated. What if someone took his stuff? Or he never found it and had to go to Hogwarts without his luggage? D:
In near panic he continued until the sight of something in one of the compartments caught his attention. Oooh, chocolate Distracted, he stood there, staring at the box of truffles like an idiot.
Still waiting to see if he'd take the truffles out again, Kendall gave Patrick an odd expression as he'd talked about her paying attention. Paying attention to what, the train? All she'd done was notice her brother out there signaling her, so he'd been the one paying attention. All she'd been paying attention to was the chocolate, but they'd gotten onto the train on time anyhow. "Maybe the house elves at Hogwarts can give you ideas. They make lots of other yummy stuff. Or maybe they could make coffee for us," she suggested. If they asked nicely. Most of the house elves she'd seen at Hogwarts seemed willing to help if they respected them, and that might mean more assistants for more experiments. Once they got access to the kitchens, and she let his attempt at avoiding an argument about rules stand. There wasn't any reason to continue it just because she could. It wasn't like when she'd had Abby run into her in Diagon Alley and she'd just stood up for herself. Well, that and gotten amused by how weird the other girl had been over a little water and two seconds of standing on the sidewalk. Now she had other things to focus on. Namely the truffles, and getting way too hyper with Patrick. Nobody else was in the compartment anyway.
A flicker of jealousy had crossed her expression as he'd managed to lift his trunk up way easier than she'd done with hers, but it had vanished by the time he'd noticed her hand out for more truffles. "I need to get my other stuff from you again too. Prob'ly before we get to Hogsmeade, so it can get in my trunk," she replied, trying to decide how many more chocolates she wanted right now. Even as he'd continued the conversation about the healer and the boy she'd been with, which got a shrug from her as he'd sat down as well. Accio jumping up on the seat next to him and nudging his side with his head. There were better things to concentrate on than her c at annoying her friend for pets or sitting down herself. How many truffles have I had so far? Two, then three, then two more... so seven?, she wondered to herself, finally deciding to take three more. As far as she knew, that made it ten, even though she was planning on eating way more before the train ride was done. They had at least a couple hours at least, so that was lots of time, and she'd started to hand the box back when someone else had suddenly appeared in their compartment. Someone bearing more candy, and eyeing the box that was still in her hand. "Hi!," she said brightly. "Want some homemade chocolate truffles?" Okay. She hadn't wanted to share with the boy who'd been with the healer, but this one was different. This one had other candy, which meant maybe he'd be a good third person for the experiment. Patrick had to have more truffles anyway.

That was the first time she had said - it made the prominent part hiding inside his chest feel warm. It was just this feeling which Nathan couldn't shake. It was nice knowing they were on the same page and he wasn't deluding himself.
At sixteen year old, he shouldn't be rejoicing on the fact that they were best friends. But he was. Silently but yes. "Does that give me special privileges then?" he asked, grinning. He can be sleazy and get away with it?
He couldn't help but give her a look, which included: the raise of his brow and small smirk. She was calling it 'the request' after all. He knew why.
"She is a friend .." he told her. "Ravenclaw. Quite shy, blushes a lot." That Addy did. "I didn't know what to think of it .. she asked me and I couldn't say no .. she was really curious to know how the technicalities of kissing worked,"
Yes.

Elliot smirked smugly. HA! She had won their little staring contest. Heehee...
Aiden...Kinsley...it was a nice sounding name, one that rolled off the tongue. Elliot's name had never achieved that, it seemed. "Yeah it is."For you... she thought to herself smugly. She tucked her blonde hair beside her ears...hmph.
He looked less glum when he smiled, though, that argument could be made for anyone. "So, you're alone. DId you want to be left alone? because I kind of just barged in...I can leave, you won't hurt my feelings." She nodded, raising a critical eyebrow. It took a lot to hurt her feelings, anyways...
