The library was not a favorite hangout for this Ravenclaw, but a visit had become inevitable as he had to do some research to complete his Divination homework. And of course the book he wanted would have to be on the top shelf.. His eyes landed on the book he needed and even as tall as he was, Ethan needed to stand up on his toes to reach it. His fingers barely grasp the book as he started to pull it out... lost his grip and the book tumbled to the floor with a loud THUD. Ethan spun around to quickly grab the book which he saw landed by a girl.. who was trying to study. "Sorry," he said, pretty sure the noise startled her out of her thoughts.

Tay was so focus on studying that when a loud thud happened, she jumped in surpise and fell right back onto the floor. She grimaced as she stood up and straighten herself and the chair up. "Oh, its fine." She bent down to get his book. Taylor noticed the title and smiled, holding it out to him, "Do you need help in Divination or are you just interested in it?" Tay looked at him and smiled, "I'm Taylor by the way."

Aw, man, he felt really bad that the poor girl fell out of her chair. Merlin, couldn't anything go right today... Sigh. "Thanks," he said as he took the book from her. "Um.. neither, I guess," Ethan said with a shrug. Divination wasn't his favorite by any means, but he wasn't rubbish at it either. "I'm just working on the homework.." Which had seemed like a lot of research work to the boy. "Nice to meet you Taylor... I'm Ethan," he returned the greeting with a friendly smile. "I think I've seen you around the common room," he added, noting she was a familiar-looking housemate. "Mind if I sit?" he asked, noticing there were no completely empty tables anyway.

Taylor nodded, "Okay... oh the homework?" She grimaced, "It is a really tough assignment full of research." Tay laughed, "Please meeting you, Ethan. Yeah, I think that I have seen you around there too." Taylor smiled then sat back down, "Of course not! Go ahead and sit down. I dont mind at all." She gestured to the chair.

"Ah, thanks," Ethan said as he took the offered seat. He pulled his messenger bag over to the side of him and took out a quill and parchment. Ethan nodded as he cracked open the book. "Yeah, I've been putting off this homework long enough.. Have you started it yet?" Meh.. something about dream prophecies.. Were they really that well documented. He flipped through a few pages then looked up. Tilting his head towards Taylor's opening book, he asked, "What are you working on?" Cause it didn't look like Divination.

"No problem." She smiled then laughed, "I'm still putting it off." Tay glanced down at her book then back up at him, "Oh, just brushing up on Arithmancy." Taylor lifted her book and showed it to him. "I am so not going to be able to pass it without a tutor." Tay gave a half chuckled, "Or at least studying really hard."

Ethan chuckled. "Yeah.. I guess I was putting off too. Time to get it done though." Sigh. The sooner he got started, the sooner it would be done, he guessed. He glanced up at the book Taylor held up and nodded. "Ah, Arithmancy.." Hmm, sounded like his stance on Transfiguration.. meh. "Well, it's not my best subject," he shrugged. "But I might be able to help.. what are you stuck on?"

Tay laughed, "Yeah... I should get that done as well..." She sighed, "I dont get any of it... I mean how can a bunch of numbers predict the future or tell your personality?" Taylor frowned and glanced up at him. "I dont even know how to do the things... whatever they are... right." Tay rubbed her face and frowned even more."

Ethan pushed his book aside slightly as he leaned his elbow on the table. Listening as Taylor spoke, he shrugged. "To be honest, I don't place a lot of stock in the subject.." But his mother instead that he take the class, so there he was. "But basically every person has a number assigned to them according to either their name or birthday.. I guess it's supposed to be unique." But that was sorta dumb because two people born on the same day would then have the same personality.. ? He didn't think so. "Anyway," he continued, "that number would have certain personality traits, strengths, weaknesses, that sort of thing.. assigned to it. Then you can take those traits and see how to best put them to use." Meh.. he was starting to sound like a nerdy Ravenclaw. Ethan rubbed the back of his neck and chuckled lightly. "Do you want me to do one of your numbers?"

Tay grimaced, "Neither do I but Mother wanted me to try every single class this year." She sighed, "How is it unique though? I mean wouldnt they have the same number a lot?" Taylor looked at him then shrugged, "If you want... I wouldnt mind if you do but dont you need to work on your homework instead of trying to get through to stupid little me?" Tay gave a light smile at him, thinking about how he seemed so smart compared to her... maybe blonde girls really are stupid despite being in Ravenclaw. Taylor loved how sweet he is being just because she needed help. He probably was always this sweet to anyone even.

Ethan laughed. "Sounds like my mother.." He shrugged. "I don't know, really.. that's why I don't put a lot of faith in it. It can be interesting though.. I guess." The fifth year chuckled lightly. "I don't mind.. It's a nice distraction." From that stupid Divination homework he was putting off.. but he'd get to it soon enough. "So, what's your birth date?"

Tay laughed, "Did your mother go to Hogwarts?" She smiled, "Yeah, I guess it could be interesting... but I wouldnt know since I dont get it at all." Taylor glanced at him, "You are really sweet. Thank you, Ethan." Tay hugged him like she does her frineds, "I was born June 8, 2063."

"Yeah.. actually she did.." Ethan laughed a little along with Taylor. "Oh.. well, thanks," he said at her compliment as he suddenly felt her embrace him. "I'ts nothing.. really," he added as he sat back and gave an awkward chuckle. "Um.. okay, let's do a basic one.. the Birthday Number. Since you were born on the 8th, your number is 8.. easy, right?" Ethan gave her a little grin. She could start off easy and see how it wasn't all that difficult. "Okay, let's see what eight means.. can I see your book?" He knew some of the calculations.. but he certainly didn't have the meanings memorized or anything.

Tay smiled, "What house was see in?" She heard some awkwardness in the chuckle and instantly blushed in embarassment, "So sorry, Ethan..." Taylor ruffled her curls. "I hug all my friends so i kina of didnt mean too..." She chuckled awkwardly as well then nodded, "Yeah that is easy." Tay nodded again and handed over her book to him.

"She was in Slytherin, actually." Which he found slightly odd.. didn't most familes stay in the same house? Or at least that was what he heard.. but there had been a few Ravenclaws on that side of the family too.. "Oh.. please.. don't apologize." Ethan gave her a reassuring smile. "Just caught me off guard that's all."

"Okay, let's see," he said as he flipped through the book's pages. "So the birthdate number just sort of tells some personality traits.. and then basic ways of using them to their potential." Finding the page he needed, Ethan's eyes scanned the passages. "Okay, you're an eight.. and basically it says you're business-savvy.. you are ambitious and like to be the one in charge." A grin slowly emerged on his face. "Does that sound like you?"

Tay smiled lightly, "My grandparents on my mother side were Slytherin but somehow my mother got into Hufflepuff." She laughed lightly, "Okay." She glanced down at the page then up at him when he was done flipping. Taylor twisted a curl around her finger as she thought about it. Tay nodded a little, "Yeah, I guess it is." She giggled a little, "Are those bad traits to have?" Taylor raised her eyebrow then smiled at him, "Can I do yours?"

Ethan raised an inconspicuous eyebrow. He vaguely wondered what a couple of Slytherins would think about having their daughter sorted into Hufflepuff.. but said nothing about it. Wasn't his business..

He nodded a little, then shrugged. Good.. bad.. things like that were relative. "Just depends on how you look at it.. On what you do with those attributes," he said with a hint of a grin. "Oh.. sure.." he said sliding the book back towards her. More practice for the girl could only help her understand the subject better. "My birthday is February 5th.. so I'm a five."

Tay smiled at him and his hint of a grin, "I guess that is right. What you do with it reflects if it is for bad or for good so that makes sense." She chuckled, "Hopefully mine is good." Taylor tucked a blonde curl behind her ear, "February 5th? Yeah 5..." Tay glanced at the book and looked at what was under 5. "It basically says you are a risk-taker, rebel, nontraditional as well as quick and clever." Taylor smiled lightly and looked up at him, "How close is that to you?"

Ethan listened to Taylor's reading and thought for a moment. Risk-taker? Rebel? He didn't really think so.. although that last stunt at Beauxbatons might say differently. The boy shook his head lightly and chuckled. "Nah.. Doesn't really sound like me.. Maybe just the last part," he said with a shrug.

"So.. getting the hang of it?" Ethan asked Taylor with a hint of a grin. Arithmancy was kind of easy, he thought, once you knew the calculations. "Not too hard, right?"

Taylor laughed, "Hmmm I guess Arithmancy cant be always right. I mean there are always exceptions to the rules, are there not?" Tay smiled at him and then nodded, "Yeah... I think so... yeah not too hard." She chuckled, "Thank you for your help studying it." Taylor was still grinning, "Want to try to research for the Divination project or are you bored of me already?" Tay raised an eyebrow in question at him.

"Always exceptions to the rule," Ethan repeated with a nod. How boring life would be if that weren't true. "I can't imagine every person born on the fifth of any given month would all have the same personality," he shrugged. That part of Arithmancy was just dumb.. and why he thought it was just a meh class. The calculations were the easy part.

"Oh you're welcome.." he said lightly. He really didn't mind taking a few minutes to help someone understand something.. not to mention it was helping him put off his own homework. But speaking of which.. "Of course I'm not bored of you.." he gave Taylor a smile as he gave a slight shake of the head. "But yeah.. I guess we could. Since you haven't started on it either." And if they were working together, maybe it would get done faster.

Taylor smiled at him, "Yeah, I cant imagine that either." She laughed then her smile widened, "I am glad that you aint bored of me yet." Tay put away her Arithmancy book and took out her Divination homework, "Okay... I mean I am all for putting it off if you are." Taylor chuckled, "I aint the best Ravenclaw around here. My gryffindor brother is a bad influence on me I guess." She didnt mind that her brother had gotten her away from her studying habits.

"Oh, is that right?" Ethan gave Taylor an amused smirk. He knew a bit about bad influences.. but right now probably wasn't the best time to get into that. "Well, I'll tell you a secret," he said lowering his voice and leaning a bit closer. "I'm not the best Ravenclaw either." Giving Taylor a little wink, he sat back up in his chair. He still didn't know what that sorting hat was thinking.. Sure Ethan was good at things like Herbology and Potions, but he was rubbish with a wand.

The boy chuckled. Yeah, he'd love to put off that homework.. but it was due really soon. "Why don't we at least start.. I mean, maybe it will go faster if we work on it together.." And if it got too boring, they could just finish it on their own later. Ethan took out his Divination journal and flipped through his notes. "Okay.. it says we have to describe a famous dream and analyze three symbols from it." Meh.

Tay smiled at him and laughed, "Good to know I aint the only one." She nodded, "Yeah, probably be a better idea to do that." Taylor glanced down at her notes then back at him, "Do they document famous dreams or is the teacher just a bit wacko?" Tay chuckled and looked at him.

Ethan rolled his eyes and chuckled. "The teacher is completely mental, I'm sure.." Then he shrugged and opened up the book on dreams. "I'm not sure if they document those type of things.." And honestly why would anybody? He thought the whole idea was dumb. "I think I'll probably just make something up.." Ethan looked up at Taylor and gave her an amused smirk. "I doubt Elwood would know the difference."
