Another day, another History of Magic lesson. Stepping into the classroom not much has changed since the previous lessons. The open windows have allowed for some leaves to fly into various places in the classroom, not that Scabior would care enough to pick them up. That was a house elf’s job, or more specifically the nutjob caretaker’s.
The desks are arranged so that only two people are capable of sitting next to each other. A toy train placed on a circular track, strangely similar to another famous train sits between each pair of desks.
Up at the front of the classroom, Scabior is seated behind his desk instead of his usual stance of leaning against it. This is most likely because, placed smack in the middle of his desk is also a train on a track similar to the ones on each pair of desks. This train however is different from the others despite looking exactly the same. While the others all sit motionless on their tracks, the train on Scabior’s desk happens to be moving in a continuous motion around the track with a stream of gray smoke trailing behind as it.
“Hurry in, come on. Take your seats.” He would advise that they sit next to someone they would want to work with, but it was too much work.
OOC: Class will officially begin in, 81/2 hours. Please familiarize yourself with the updated classroom rules. Your characters can chat, dance, try to set the room on fire. Just remember Scabior is there, and SS and RPG rules apply. Class has officially started (i'll edit in whoever i've missed in this post)! Please no posts announcing late arrivals, as that will result in lost of points. If you want to join in, I encourage you to! Just act as though your character was there all along.

"Okay, It seems like Reparo worked. Weird it did not work the first time."
Now it was Nigel's turn to do the spell.Maybe it did not work last time because he cast the spell on the entire train and not inside it. He put his wand inside the cart where he want it and said "Incendio!". Nigel eyed got bigger when it seemed it worked. "Well would you look at that. It worked"
With her wand still in her hand, posed just as it had been when she'd done the spell, Sierra watched with wide, expectant eyes. There were some clicking noises, which she couldn't tell were good or bad. Then when she looked closer, it seemed as if things were coming back together, whereas they'd been in pieces before. "Oh, it's working," she said, surprised. "I guess we just needed a little something else. Maybe a stronger version of the spell or...maybe I just didn't focus enough last time."
Who knew. Either way, they were at least on their way to fixing this train and getting it rolling again.
When she heard Nigel cast Incendio, Sierra backed away to let him have more access and see the results of his spell. Then she heard him say it worked, and in the next second, their train was circling the tracks, just as it should have been.

"Come on.. lets cast the same spell again together! But this time, specifically say Engine, alright?" Saying Ira first tore off one more small piece of parchment and casting the same spell again, moved and put it into the engine, providing more heat. Then, she pointed her wand at the engine, and then muttered the incantation, "Locomotor Engine!" hoping that Cassia was with her.
The train HAD to move now! Had to move normally!
Cassia stood musing at the toy but the train continued to rattle and was the engine creaking? Oh it was. The second-year looked at Ira's eyes hoping that the older girl knew what to do. You know Cassia had used all her brain-juice for now. And she had though hard which was very rare occasion and she actually came up with a couple of ideas. Was it Ira's influence? If so then Cassia owned the Gryffindor big time!
Good she had an idea. Cassia nodded, she didn't mind doing the spell again. As long as it paid off. There was still time right? Professor Scabior hadn't spoken for a while he'd say if the time was up so they must take advantage of the remaining minutes. Cassia pointed her wand at the train and made sure that the tip was above the engine and along with Ira she uttered. "Locomotor engine."
The snake's eyes looked at the train examining the difference. The train picked up its pace. Good then the spell did something. She brought her ear closer and listened Intensive. She only heard the normal sound of the working train. Looking up at Ira she flashed her a wide toothy grin, "It's fixed! We're awesome." Oh that they were.

Oh well, just to make sure it did not work, she did it again, "reparo!!" The train looked a bit different, yet it still did noe move. What had chaneged, was a little piece had reattatched itself to the exterior.
Penelope smiled, glad that Sarah did want her. "Thanks." Then she nodded as Sarah continued and suggested a spell to use, Reparo. Penelope had heard of that spell, but she didn't think she'd ever use it before, so it was unlikely she'd get it now in this lesson. But she'd still try anyway. Only at first, even when Sarah did it, it didn't seem to work, until the second time, when a bit of the outside of the train seemed to kinda fix itself. It hadn't moved though.
"Reparo," Penelope tried, though nothing happened. She tried it a second and third time and still nothing happened. So...moving on.
"What else could we try?" she asked, poking the train gently with her wand. It moved forward about an inch and then stopped. Poking it didn't fix it either. Meh.

"And it probably wouldn't have stopped like 'BAM! It stopped!'. If there were infestations, the train would start stopping slowly, no?"Thinking face.
Well, they both agreed that it was most likely to have been something on purpose. The train completely shut down and all the adults aboard looked worried, so it probably wasn't something like 'simple' infestations... right?
"I have never heard of such big portkey!" Could the portkey-making spell even work with such a large object? And then his next comment... bahahahaha! So Theodore-ish! No wonder they were good friends. "I highly doubt that." She said chuckling.
Sophie looked around the classroom for a bit, thinking of other possibilities. Since they had no idea what had made the train stop, they should think about a way to make it move again, at least. "Why do you think the adults couldn't make it move again?" The Locomotor spell should have worked just fine, no? Especially with aaaall of those grown ups around. "Even if a simple Locomotor spell didn't work, if all of the people that were allowed to perform magic did it at the same time, it would have been powerful enough to make it move again, don't you think?" Saying that, the badger looked at their mini train. She felt the urge to try the spell even though she was sure it wouldn't work.
But hey, a chance to practice spells was always welcome! Grabbing her wand again, she pointed it at their toy train. "Locomotor Locomotive!" Nufin. "Well." She shrugged and placed her wand back down on the desk.
"Oh." Crestfallen. "You're right. I thought if it was chizpurfles we'd be done on account of we can't fix that, the ministry would have to." See now Sophie had to cheer him up. Because he'd liked the idea of solving it with such a small amount of effort. How sad.
"Maybe they didn't really try. Maybe because of History stuff, they were just spooked and decided to get us all off of it just in case." Maybe? "I just realised it could have been a big trick. That ministry dude is the only adult that I saw when it happened, I only knew who he was on account of the stuff in the Daily Prophet. But what if someone stopped the train, and then they were like 'AaaaaRRRGHHH everyone get off the train!' and 'take these portkeys that I conveniently have!' and made us all show up somewhere unexpected or bad, like how that Triwizard Hufflepuff touched the cup and got taken away and Voldemort killed him back before there was someone in charge to say 'don't die'." West was just saying words now.
"Or you could just do what they are all doing." He pointed around the room. "And use that fixing spell but that is BORING."

Depulso? Summoning Charm? Those were also spells Penelope had heard of but had never yet been able to cast. Mehh, this was not making her like this class any more, and she already didn't like it much. Wasn't it enough that spells were performed in Charms and Transfiguration? Why did it have to come into this subject too?
But she nodded at Sarah, willing to give it a shot, even though she wasn't sure much would happen on her end. Still, she pointed her wand at the train with her fellow second year and said, "Depulso!", when she did.
She didn't think anything came out of her wand, but something must have from Sarah's because the train shot forward on its tracks and continued to do so for several seconds until slowly...slowly...slowly...it stopped again.
Meh. Stupid train.
"What should we try next?"

Sophie was still looking at the train when West agreed with her about the chizpurfles. She did notice a change in his voice so she turned to face him. Was he sad? Aw, haha! "Come on, West, you're good at this thinking business." Very good, actually. "I have wondered why you weren't in Ravenclaw, you know?" Because that kid could have some pretty cool insights, yep! Sophie admired that!
Bahahaha! See! That was what she was talking about. And the kid could be funny as well! The third year laughed at his idea of the random person offering convenient portkeys. "Well, we should be glad this didn't happen." They were all safe and no one had died! Which was great!
But she had tried to make the train move with the Locomotor spell thing, but it didn't work! She was sure it would't work even before trying it, so it probably wouldn't work even if it was supposed to work. What? Well, it wouldn't work anyway!
"If the grown ups couldn't make it work," That is, if they had supposedly tried. "I don't think we'll be able to make this mini Hogwarts Express run again..." Boooooooooo! She was glad they didn't blow up their train set or anything, like some people were attempting to do, apparently. "If at least we knew for sure what made it stop, then we could take the proper actions." But they didn't. Not even the Ministry people knew it, so how would they knooowww?? Sophie was no genius, y'all.
The bad guys should be caught! That was it. And Sophie should go to the library to read more about spells, because this lesson made her realise she was FAAARRR from being the Charms Queen. She couldn't even cast these spells they had discussed! She got her wand again. "Locomotor Locomotive." The brunette said randomly, waving it around again. She didn't even know the proper wand movement. Meeeehhhh. She poked the little Hogwarts Express with her wand. "Reparo." ldksnflkdnflsd it wouldn't even work! She knew it!

"Slytherins are good thinkers too." Didn't Sophie know that? "And I'll tell you a secret." Because she was cool. West leaned forward and whispered, "The hat was thinking about maybe putting me in Hufflepuff, that's why I was stuck on the stool for EVER." Hatstall. He was.
"Oh yeah, I'm definitely glad... that we didn't die." Basically that was the most important thing to ever be glad about right?
He was in COMPLETE agreement about grown ups not being able to do it meaning that they couldn't either.
"Maybe we should just tell the professor our one has chizpurfles and make up things about it. I bet none of the other ones has them and I bet nobody else thought of them." He watched her try the spells and then reached out and nudged the train.
And then another thought bubbled up. "How long do these trains usually run for in the muggle world? Maybe its just old and tired and they need to get us a NEW train." Stuff DID break after all.

Minerva listened to the Professor as he answered her questions, shacking her head understanding. Well yes she basically knew that, but she wasn't sure if the spell would fix all muggle made problems. Turning towards the train, maybe he did answer the question.. but before she could finish her thoughts she heard Ari get frustrated, "shhh it will work, patience" she then looked at the train. "I think we need to take the train piece by piece and use the repair charm on all pieces, not just the entire thing. Like the professor said." she then looked at the train, "Reparo Frame" looking at the train, "That should repair the bent frame that would have happened during the wreck." She looked at Ari to see if she would want to repair the next part of the train.
Ariana looked at min and shook her head "Not unless you want the train to blow up or something." cause she suddenly want in the mood for train fixing it was stupid and ariana wondered why she even showed up to this dumb class. she sighed "Ok, what part should i fix next? she asked her friend she was the genuis after all

Minerva rolled her eyes at her friend, knowing she was getting annoyed, "Ariana, we will fix this calm down." she laughed a bit. Then looked at the train, "Well if we need it to run we would need to check the engine and make sure all that is running correctly because that is going to be the most important part, Oh and probably the brakes as well." Minerva pointed her wand, "Reparo Brakes" and hoped that would help fix the breaks. "Why don't you do the engine and then we can move on from there. I have to think for a few minutes what else could need fixed." Minerva headed back up to the front to look at the running train on the professors desk. Bending down again she wanted to make sure she didn't miss anything that could be a main problem. hmmm.. what else could be wrong with this train. She really wanted to reach down and touch the train to look under it, but she didn't dare especially being that it was Scabiors train. Moving back towards Ari and their train she smiled, "How's the engine?"

And nothing happened.
"Wow... I am SURE no one that of trying that the day the train stopped," she said with a small giggle. "Now what?"

Sutton considered what Edmund had said, about using reparo... and she stared at the train. That would be really complicated because she certainly did not know all the names of the different parts that could be broken in the engine of the train. She was about to open her mouth to object when Logan made a suggestion.
Her eyes going back and forth between them, a curious expression on her face, she pointed her wand at the train, thinking hard about the wheels and how they should work, she said, "Reparo!"
Turning back to her partners, she gave them a questioning look. "Well, I think if the wheels were messed up I fixed them...? Logan... since it was your idea, do you want to try to push the train? Is there a spell for that?" she asked him, hoping the train would at least move when they tried...

Elies flipped through her Charms textbook frantically, the Hot-Air charm being what she was looking for. Flip. She'd fond it! Brilliant. Now, she just had to melt the snow and ice.
"Ventus Minima," she muttered, moving her wand over the tracks and the snow bank. It worked, for the most part. The snow had melted and the tracks were a little warm. Now, she just had to put the train back onto the tracks.
"Wingardium Leviosa," she muttered, lifting the train a little and lowering it back onto the tracks. Prodding it with her wand, she made it chug a little. But it was wiggling a little, in a way that didn't quite seem natural.
Ariana nodded to her friend and as she went up to the desk she sighed and pointed her want at the trains engine "Reparo engine." she said to it and then min was back "fixed. you think we should try to get it moving?"
Sophie had to agree that Slytherins could be pretty smart and awesome and handsome indeed. She knew one particular Slytherin that was like... almost perfection in person. But she didn't want to think about him, because... yeah. Meh. So she listened to West's little secret instead. "Hufflepuff? Don't you mean Ravenclaw?" Not that Hufflepuffs weren't smart, of course. They weere! But Ravenclaws were the ones who were so addicted to learning, books and knowledge, right? "That's cool though!" Being a hatstall and all! "It didn't take it a lot of time to place me in Hufflepuff." And that actually made Sophie happy, because it meant she truly belonged in her mother's house!
Anywho, that kid was funny. Wanting to tell professor Scabior about the chizpurfle infestation and all. "I don't think he'd buy it, though." She said chuckling again. "I mean, if we got to the conclusion that it couldn't have been the chizpurfles, he probably won't believe it either." And maybe trying to fool professor Scabior wasn't a good idea...?
West was already thinking of something eelse now! "I dunno, but for quite a long time, I guess." Some trains were really old and were still running, yes? They had to be fixed every now and then, but still... "But if it broke down naturally, magic would be able to get it running again, wouldn't it?" She frowned as she thought about it. "Just like we can fix an object when it breaks 'naturally', but it's harder to fix it once it's been broken with magic."
"So maybe the train was shut down by such powerful magic, that it's now very, very hard to make it work again!" That was a spooky thought. Sophie's eyes were wide and she stared at the train set in front of them. "And just really advanced magic would do the job." She nodded. Sounded legit.

Minerva smiled, "Well I think we are very close to doing that. There is one last thing I think needs to be fixed before it could go. If it crashed then many things probably broke on it." she picked up the broken train, "We fixed the frame which would have bent if it derailed and crashed, we fixed the engine which of course would have had problems, and the brakes which again with a wreck would have easily gotten broke. Now for the last thing." she pointed to the wheels of the train, "Reparo Wheels" pushing it with her hand it felt like the wheels were moving clearly without any problems. "Okay I think that seems to be everything, so if you want to be the honored person to make this little thing go, be my guest." she smiled at Ariana knowing she would be happy to finally have the train moving.

Ariana pointed her wand at the train ' please work for merlin's sake!' she thought to herself and she took her wand in her left hand and casted "locomoter train!" and closed her eyes not wanting to see her failure cause it was sure to come. Ari couldnt seem to do anything right.

Minerva couldn't help but smile, "Ariana Logan open your eyes." she some how managed to hit the train even without looking which Minerva was impressed and to her surprise the train began to move.. They did it, they really did it.. Watching the little train go Minerva felt proud of her little team, she knew they were good friends, but hey they were good partners as well. 'Great Job Ariana, I knew you could do it." Minerva beamed at her friend.
He watched the young Claw fit the final piece in, then closed the train's hood. Good it was nice and snug, which hopefully means not a piece was out of place. Just as he raised his wand he caught himself chuckling at her enthusiasm and her remark about the Ministry "I'm sure the Department of Transportation staffers are working hard trying to resolve this problem too..." he said as he gave a playful smirk. His Uncle used to work for that Department before transferring out and insisted that its current Head was a good man despite the controversy a few years back. "So here we go.... Locomotor Locomotive...." he uttered with the proper wand stroke and touched the hood of the train....
.... CHOO CHOO!... CHUGA CHUGA CHUGA CHUGA.....
It worked!
Mika was EXCITED the train was working. Now all they had to do was make sure the wards and spells were all intact. Soooo yeah. She was a good little Ravenclaw right? RIGHT.
Mhm. Of course she was.
She quickly took down her note pad and wrote down all that they had done to the train to make it work. They had connected the train components of course. Because engine components made things move and run - and YAY it worked.
What? She was excited. Taking her wand she cast a quick scanning spell onto the train to scan for other loose parts. Bolts things and odds-and-ends that would help it run.
There. She found one - with a tap of her wand she cast the gluing spell to the wheels hooking the break shoe to the brake block. There now the wheels would stop going when it was supposed to - maybe that was the strange mechanical sound they had heard that night on the train.

Well, some students had managed to get their trains in working conditions. While others...weren't as lucky. He would have allowed everyone who hadn't managed to figure a solution yet to continue but according to the clock. Class was over.
"Alright guys." Scabior started raising his voice just a bit over the noise. "Class is over. You can all pack up now, since you are dismissed. If you want to keep working on your train you are free to do so, but not in here, you can take it up to your common room. And if your train is fixed well, you can take that as well." He shrugged. "Just clean up. No homework tonight."
OOC: The thread will close really soon (couple of hours, or maybe minutes.)

Mika glanced up when Professor meany-pants, right...um Professor Scabior said class was over. NO. It couldn't be over she had to adjust that ONE last thingy and it would be working right?
With a swish of her wand she attached another part of the break-line and couldn't help but smile gleefully as it clinked into place. "Locomotor locomotive" it moved, well just a bit. But still it moved. Now she tried stopping the train and it stopped without a horrendous SCREECHING sound.
"YES YES YES" she giggled happily. "We SO owned this Vickers!" She jumped up and down happily, gathered her things, and turned to Scabior. "Thanks for a - an, um - an awesome Class Professor M-Scabior." She almost called him Professor Meany-pants.
That would have been bad.

"Have you guys considered.... pushing the train?" I mean... they could do that with magic, right?

Her eyes going back and forth between them, a curious expression on her face, she pointed her wand at the train, thinking hard about the wheels and how they should work, she said, "Reparo!"
Turning back to her partners, she gave them a questioning look. "Well, I think if the wheels were messed up I fixed them...? Logan... since it was your idea, do you want to try to push the train? Is there a spell for that?" she asked him, hoping the train would at least move when they tried...
...Pushing the train? "You. Are. A. GENIUS. Logan." Obviously, it was so simple! It was brilliant! Ed decided to use his own wand for the first time after Sutton repaired the wheels. "Locotomor train." He studied the train with a frown that only appeared when he concentrated extremely hard. But... nothing! He sighed and put his wand away as he heard the professor say class was over. "Suppose we should go." He was definitely taking this train though. He wanted to fix it if it was the last thing he did! "Can we finish this downstairs?" he asked Sutton and Logan as he picked uip the train.

Well, they'd certainly got away with that one. Theo wasn't totally surprised, cos he got away with most things. He smirked at Ella, then picked up their green train and popped it into his bag. Ella didn't want it, right? "Let's get outta here." He said, as if they were villains trying to escape a bank robbery.
NO HOMEWORK, TOO? Result.
The second year dashed to his feet and rushed out of the classroom, hoping that Ella wasn't too far behind.
