The Lions sit under a bright crimson and gold banner representing their house. The candles light it up nicely in spite of the gloomy, turbulent skies above.
Lex turned to a girl that had said hi to her and flashed her a wide smile. "Hello! And what's your name?" See it was good meeting people and even better knowing there names so they wouldn't be pointless passer-bys!
Sarah matched the girls smile with an even BIGGER one. She liked to smile and she liked it when people smiled too. After all, It uses less muscles to smile than to frown. "My name is Sarah, Sarah Edwards, Second year" Sarah said, Second year was still sounding funny to her lips.
Ronnie walked into the Great Hall and plopped down at the Gryffindor table. Hmph. She was in a grumpy mood. Her head hurt, she still felt a bit queasy and was totally upset about throwing up over at the platform in Hogsmeade. Blehh. That had been no fun at all. And quite embarrassing too. She had expected today to be fun and awesome, and it sure was at first but ever since that stupid train problem she had not been very happy.
She frowned looked down at the table glumly, waiting for the rest of the lions to join her. She just wanted to go curl up in her cozy bed in the dorm and go to sleep. Today had really tuckered her out.
"Hey Ronnie" Jen says greeting her.
"My brother should be around here somewhere....probably at the hufflepuff table..."

"Wanna tell me what happened? Did you break up with.. um.. someone?" She clicked her tongue, and said, "Oh come on! Cheer up! Hey see there, the sorting is on!"
"Well," Ronnie began, a little glad to have someone to talk to about this all. "I did break up with someone, actually. But I'm not sad about that. I'm actually happy about it, actually." she said. "But anyways, when the lights flickered on the train ride, it made my cat freak out and start meowing while I was napping which made me wake up. And it made me a little mad...so I was about to go back to napping when the train suddenly stopped, sending me to the floor. And I banged my head." she said, raising a hand to feel the top of her head where the bump still was. Yup. It was getting bigger and it was hurting a lot more. "Which still hurts like hell." she added with a sigh. "And that Portkey ride wasn't much fun either, I puked at the station." she said. And that hadn't been fun at ALL.

Banishing the lid with a wave of her wand, Kurumi swished and flicked it over the contents. The cookies within seemingly sprung to life and rose into the air above everyone's head but still within reach before she gave another wave of her wand and sent them dancing around the table - Kurumi's signature display since she was a second year. "Grab one if you want, you all deserve a little sugar boost after all that."
Understatement of the century.
Once the cookies were on their way around the table, Kurumi flopped down into her seat and turned her attention towards the Sorting that had already begun....and just in time to catch two new Gryffindors joining the pride. Kurumi was back up on her feet, clapping loudly for the pair...when she recognized them as two of the first years from the platform. Heh, well well well....now she knew their names. "Congratulations and welcome to Gryffindor!"
Ronnie smiled a little at Kurumi. "Evening." she said back with a nod. She looked at the cookies, wondering if she should take one. She felt so terrible, and eating a cookie seemed like it'd make everything worse. She sighed and decided she wouldn't.

If her brother James was to be a lion, then the lions will out number the claws.
She sat down at her table. "Hey Ronnie, Ira and Kurumi... been quite day. My first stop in the castle was the bathroom, I needed to clean off my hands. They got grazed when I landed hands down on the Hogsmede platform." she held out her hands, which were now clean. "Kurumi, can I have a cookie PLEASE?" she asked.
She then turned to the other girl who she did not know YET. The girl (Ariadne) had gorgeous long dark hair. "Hello," Sarah said brightly, "My name is Sarah - what is yours?" That sounded dodge, yet Sarah meant well.
"Hello." Ronnie mumbled back with a sort of smile. Maybe the feast and being with her fellow lions would cheer her up a little. She winced a little as Sarah explained how she had hurt her hands. OUCH. That must of really hurt.

Now this was a strange twist.
It seemed like a whole bunch of his house was already there when he arrived at the Great Hall and made his way over to the Gryffindor table when he had managed to be one of the first last term. Had he really taken that long to get up from the station to the castle? Well they had had that trouble with the young Huffie and the Slytherin captain and taking care of the injured girl. Now was just a time to calm down from the stress and excitement.
He looked around for any familiar faces including his two fellow leaders and just watching any of the newer ones who appeared to have joined their ranks in the sorting. Kurumi was there already though Selina was still absent.
Gideon frowning slightly wondering where she was. Shaking it off, he figured it was as good a time as any to say hello. "Hello everyone," he greeted still standing as he offered a polite smile. "Welcome!" he added before taking a seat finally.

"Yeah you're right about that part but I kinda have to." This was all a part of her campaign to start taking responsibility for her actions. She had made a stupid bet without thinking and now she would pay the consequences...plus she really wanted to get back at that hat. Grrr.

And now there was someone else at the table. Hey it was the nice older boy from the train station then again at the platform! So he was in her house as well...just how many of the older kids that she had run into earlier were in this house? This made her worry even more because then it was very likely that scary bat-girl was in this house. Ignoring this thought she smiled over at the boy. "Hello! So I see you're in this house too."

All along she had been keeping her eye out for her brother who was about to be sorted. Then he sat on the stool and Sarah could not help but laugh as the hat covered his mouth. Sarah held on tight as the hat thought about its verdict. Yet with the loud "Gryffindor" Sarah heaved a sigh of relief... He was in her house after all! The lions had outweighed the claws in her family! Her father was a Ravenclaw, yet her mother was a Gryffindor.

It was really odd being back at Hogwarts. Everything was familiar, and yet so much had changed in the year Thomas had been away. New faces. SO many NEW faces.. and a lot of the old ones were gone. The sixteen year old had always had a tendency to migrate towards the older students. He felt more like one. He had experienced a lot in his short life, and although some of his behaviour was that of an adolescent, he was mature in other ways.
As he wandered into the Great Hall, his gaze swept across some of the first years. They seemed so small. Was he really ever that small? He guessed, because of living where he did, his childhood had been cut short prematurely. ..It was sad in a way.
He took his place at the Gryffindor table, ravenous after the eventful journey and grateful to finally get to Hogwarts. His stomach rumbled loudly. To be warmed by a fire and to fill his stomach would be like heaven on earth.

"Because," She said rather matter-of-factly, "I made a bet and Alexa Cambridge never goes back on her word--never." Her father had told her that it was better to go through with your word because it showed true bravery.

"Wow you really did do better! I heard some people broke their legs and arms!" Making it out with a scratch was rather impressive actually! "Glad you're not hurt, I personally, never want to travel by portkey again." And that was the truth. The bloody thing probably broke her wrist for all she knew...though she would never admit that to anyone. The last thing she needed was people pointing their wands at her trying to make it better and she definitely didn't want to go looking for the healer when there was a whole feast set up.
"Do you know what happened to all the luggage...and the pets?" She needed to know that Felix was alright.

Ariella was feeling very giddy, so happy in fact she skipped all the way over to the Gryffindor table where she spotted her friend Lex. She made her way over to her and plopped down right next to her, noticing she was talking to a few students.
"Hey Lex, your going to have to tell me if leather tastes any good," Ari said giggling as she joked with the newly sorted Gryffinodr, bringing up a bet that had happened earlier on the train. A bet that Lex had lost, "I've never tried hat before..."

"ARI!!!" Lex turned to look at her friend as she plopped down next to her and in case she was wondering, yes Lex would be shouting her name every time she showed up. Why? Because she wanted to, duh.
She laughed when her friend brought up the thing about the hat. "Well after I've tasted it I'll let you know, because as of now, that hat deserves what's coming to it." She had given it a pretty decent warning to place her in Ravenclaw but it hadn't and now when she was dipping it in gravy she would bear no remorse.
Silly hat, then they said it was a smart one. Sigh.

When he had grabbed onto the portkey, he had lost the two girls and ended up having to go up to Hogwarts by himself from Hogsmeade. He was so worried about him and seeing Alice with her crutches and splint made him even more worried. What had happened since he had lost them? He ran over to the two girls and gasped as he caught sight of Alice. "What happened?" He asked, worried and then looking over at Melanie. He grabbed her face in his hands, pushing her cheeks together to almost look like a fish. "You're not hurt either are you?" He said, teasing her a little, but still worried. He never liked it when his friends were hurt, even when it was his two favorite girls.
The now Gryffindor boy took a seat beside Melanie, awaiting the explanation of how Alice had gotten hurt so much. As he waited he heard a rumor going around about how James had gotten hurt as well. His eyes widened and he frowned. How come everyone had gotten hurt?

Especially since this girl had a shiny badge. Her mom had told her that too - to respect those who were older and in positions of power, like this girl.
Was Melanie a Gryffindor? She supposed what Kurumi said had basically answered the blonde's question. "I'm a Gryffindor~" Melanie said in a sing song sort of voice, giggling when Alice said that they'd live together. More time for Melanie to put Alice in some pretty dresses. She wondered if Miss Shiny Badge would like to help. Couldn't she make some rule or something that Alice had to wear a dress once a week or something? She relaxed, taking in a deep breath then letting it out, smiling at the younger girl. It was definitely good that Queen Alice was alright. "The hat just... sad some things and put me here," Melanie said shrugging her shoulders.
Was the hat supposed to say something in particular? She wasn't sure.
There was another girl (Dan and Emma<3) there too. Melanie looked at the other girl, who she assumed was a Gryffindor because she was at the Gryffindor table and smiled. "Hello," she greeted politely before Landon came over.
She had totally lost him after the portkey. Before she could say anything though, Melanie's face was being squished. Ahhhh. Why did he do that? "Laaanndddooooooooooooooooooonnnn," Melanie said as her cheeks were squished to look like a fish. He had done that last time too. Was her face really that... squish-able? With a slight blush she removed his hands from her face. No squishing the new lion. Lions' faces didn't get squished, right?
She gave the boy a big hug. "I'm fine, are you alright?" Melanie asked. Because there seemed to be a looooot of hurt people... or just Queen Alice. But it was a big deal. Hearing a pop, Melanie looked around and saw... an elf?
What was an elf doing here? Melanie waved hello to the creature with a smile.
Alice smiled when Landon appeared as well. He AND Melanie were Gryffindors? Oh, yes. There was going to be a party in the Common Room tonight. "DONNIE! You're a lion!" YAY. It really was a good day. If only she hadn't broken her leg.. but that couldn't be avoided, could it? "Before we took the Portkey, I had fallen on the ground and the luggage had fallen on me. It apparently broke my leg." Didn't he remember? "But it's not a big deal." She had to clamp her hand over her mouth to keep herself from laughing when Landon began to squish Melanie's face.
She must have been very pleased about that, Alice thought.
After Melanie removed Landon's hands from her face, she turned her attention back to Alice. "I KNOW. It's so exciting. We're gonna be ROOMMATES." The only bad thing about that was that Melanie could dress her up. In pink stuff. And dresses. EW. She still needed to go through Melanie's trunk and hide some things.. or she would be looking like a girly-girl for the rest of the term.
SPOILER!!: We claimed Thomas as well :3

After turning away from Landon and Melanie, she noticed another person nearby. He was staring at an empty platter of food rather longingly. hmph. He seemed a little lonely to Alice, so she hobbled over to him on her crutches. "HI PERSON," she said, staring at the empty plate in front of him. "Y'know, food isn't going to appear until headmaster Redhead gives her speech." Yikes. She already knew that this Headmaster was going to be a handful. She could tell by the yelling on the train. But maybe that was just because ti was rather chaotic? "Did you see her on the train? She kind of scared me. I think she's going to be a big change from Tatertot."
She just hoped this headmaster could be nickname after food as well.
-------------- For Lexipoo.
Alice looked around for familiar faces once more, when she noticed a tiny blonde head bobbing by Kurumi. The boy seemed to be rather short and talking a mile a minute.. hey, wait, was that Kildare? "KILDAAARREEE." She waved one arm in the air frantically, careful to keep the other around her crutches. Where had he been the whole train ride? She hadn't seen him at all. "Kildare. Where have you been?! None of us could find you." BUT. Now she had found him. "Tag the Second is up in the Common Room. Do you want to see him after dinner?" Their furby seemed very happy to the lioness, even though she had accidentally left him on the train.
Yes, yes, she was a bad parent, we know.

Sarah was shocked about the severity of the injuries. "Oh dear! I hope you were not injured greatly. This portkey journey may not have been good for you, Yet do not say that you never want to go on a portkey, that will be cutting off a lot of experiences for you. Portkeys take you to places that you never imagined going. Last year in History of Magic we took a Portkey to the city of Atlantis. People use portkeys to get to the quidditch world cup." Sarah told the girl.
"I know as much as you about our things, I assume the Ministry, BoG or school will be taking care of it. Hopefully they will feed our pets tonight though" she thought sadly of Angelina and her companions back on the train, wondering where the students were.
