The Lions sit under a bright crimson and gold banner representing their house. The candles light it up nicely in spite of the gloomy, turbulent skies above.
Ariadne couldn't believe her eyes. She just noticed someone she hadn't seen in ages approaching the Gryffindor table. 'Fee!' she called. Was it really her? 'Come have a seat.' Slytherins and Gryffindors should stick together, haha. 'How have you been?' And most importantly, where? Not that Ari hadn't been away for a year herself, but she didn't get any updates from her older friend either.
Hug or no hug? She was supposed to be older, but this time she made an exception. Big bear hug it was! Just like the good ol' times...
Just on her way to the Gryffindor table the blonde heard someone call her name. Looking around she was searching for the face to the voice. Oh my god it was Ariadne. The Slytherin hadnt seen her in ages. Grinning widely Fee approached her friend and plopped down next to her. "Heyyyy Ari", she said .Now this was really nice. Good idea to come to the Lions table.
"Ive been good", she beamed,"just a bit stressed with my sisters. They should have listened to me and gone to Hogwarts."But of course they didnt listen and now they were stuck at Beauxbatons.Well thats what you get for not listening to your older sister."How have you been darling?", the seventh year smiled happily," i havent seen you aroind for ages." Fee couldnt help but chuckle a bit about their first meeting. That had been sooo cute.
Hugging her friend back tightly, the smile didnt fade from the Snake's face.It was so so so amazing to see Ari.She hadnt changed one bit, awww.
Maxwell nodded. "Transfiguration, D.A.D.A and Charms a little..I don't know..I wanna try harder this term." He said wanting to do better for his mother.
Tay nodded, "I figured transfiguration." She smiled, "I adore the D.A.D.A. teacher with her accent and yoga." Taylor laughed then her eyes grew along with her smile, "I can help with that if you wish."

"Bull." She laughed and smiled, "You know that Ravens ae the best." Tay winked at her, giggling.

“It's good to be back.” He replied with a smile. Sort of.
And with perfect timing, the girl produced a cookie and handed it to him. See, there was a reason why he like Kurumi so much. “Fanks, Krumi.” He swiftly took a bite out of it. Merlin, her cookies were even better when you were starving. “You always did make the best cookies.” He complimented her. “Buh.. don't tell me ma I said tha'.”
"'ow are yer? 'ad a good summer?" He asked the pretty prefect conversationally.
As much as Kurumi wanted to correct Thomas again for the mispronunciation of her name, she honestly didn't care and it really didn't matter. It was part of what made him him and, well, that was how it should be. Pushing all that aside, Kurumi hugged him just a little more tightly and was completely oblivious to the blush that had taken over his features.
Not that she would have known what that meant anyway. She was completely oblivious to such things.
"Good! Don't go anywhere," she said, her tone somewhat serious. "At least not until I graduate because I'll miss seeing you in the common room." Which was a little unfair considering, but Kurumi rather liked Thomas. She was a little protective of him, especially after having tutored him a bit his first term at the school.
"Lips are sealed," she nodded, finally releasing him from her hug. "I'm good and summer was fantastic...but what about you?! How have you been?!" Kurumi was far more interested in hearing about him than talking about herself right now, obviously.

"Oooh yeah the Care of Magical Creatures class sounds pretty cool... then again the closest I've ever gotten to animals were my pet cats... and then now the owl that Andrew bought for us..." she mused smiling a bit. "I guess I don't know what to expect... I mean the thing that'll probably be what I know best will be muggle studies!"
That was a depressing thought! Then again, the young apparently half-blood had grown up in the muggle world so it kinda made sense...
Kurumi's smile widened just a bit, glad that that other subject had seemingly been dropped. "My plan after Hogwarts is actually to attend university to further my studies in creatures, actually. Specifically dragons though." Which made her think of Professor Williamson again and just how much she missed him. He was in Romania though and that was currently her top choice with universities due to its extensive hatchery program. "You have a pet cat?"
Hopefully one that got along with Walnut if so.

So he moved over to her, ruffling her hair as he sat down, knowing how it annoyed her. "Anything new?" he asked with a grin, knowing that not much could've happened - theoretically - in the time that they had been separated. "And yes, yes, I know I wanted Ravenclaw but I told it I'd live with Gryffindor because you couldn't be without me"
Oh! Another new lion!
Kurumi turned her body slightly so she could face the newly sorted housemate, who she had unfortunately missed the name of due to various conversations, and gave him a warm round of applause. "Welcome to Gryffindor house! I'm Kurumi Hollingberry, one of your prefects."
Finally, in her fourth term as prefect she was getting better at introducing herself this way even if she hated including the prefect bit in her introductions.

Father says I have been baking ever since I could stand...maybe even before." Which wasn't logically possible, but she let her father think that that was true. There really was no reasoning with him when it came to such things anyway.
Kurumi could sense that this first year was holding something back. What that something was was a mystery to her, but Kurumi ventured a guess that it had something to do with the sorting itself. "When I was first sorted into Gryffindor, I was sure the hat had made a mistake," she said softly, eyeing the line of students still waiting to be sorted. "I was quiet, stuttered, afraid of opening up to people, kept to books mostly...I was sure I was going to be sorted into Ravenclaw, like one of my brothers had been." The one that she was told she was most a like actually. "The Sorting Hat surprised me though...but I am glad I did. It brought out the best in me and I have Gryffindor house to thank for that."
So, if Alexa was feeling a little uneasy, well, it was perfectly normal. Expected even.
Oh yeah, that slight Selina inspired smirk? It was back now.
Lex couldn't help but notice that the girl was turning red. For a moment she tried thinking back to her previous sentences, wondering if she had said something embarrassing but when nothing in particular came to mind she shrugged it off as nothing but a thing older kids did from time to time...or in this girl's case, most of the time. "You're sooo lucky! I wish my mother could've taught me to bake...in fact I don't think I remember anything she taught me..." and so to change the subject very quickly she giggled at the fact that her father said she had been baking since she could stand. "Neat. My Daddy says I'm been giving trouble since before I could stand." BEAM.
She tilted her head slightly and stared over at Kurumi with curious eyes. It took a while for her to get what the girl was trying to do then set out to assure her. "Oh I really am happy about being sorted into Gryffindor you know; honest." She averted her gaze for a minute wondering if she should tell her but then...so many other people knew or saw it happening so she might as well give her a heads up; compensation for the train climbing."It's just that...I was so sure that I would have gotten into Ravenclaw then when that Lainey woman bet that I wouldn't we made a wager and I lost so now I have to eat the sorting hat." She had to mutter the last part, almost sure that Kurumi would start yelling again then draw Scary Bat-Girl's attention. "But I'm sure you could definitely have been a Ravenclaw!!"
She stared over at the girl in shock. "And what's with the smirk?! It's not funny! Now she has more chances to kill me!"

Emilia sat down at the Gryffindor table, the proper one this time, with a sigh. Things had been such a whirlwind since she moved here from the states and it felt like she could finally take a breath. She did just that and then took a look around her. However it didn't help much, and she put her face in her hands. What was she doing here?
It was really odd being back at Hogwarts. Everything was familiar, and yet so much had changed in the year Thomas had been away. New faces. SO many NEW faces.. and a lot of the old ones were gone. The sixteen year old had always had a tendency to migrate towards the older students. He felt more like one. He had experienced a lot in his short life, and although some of his behaviour was that of an adolescent, he was mature in other ways.
As he wandered into the Great Hall, his gaze swept across some of the first years. They seemed so small. Was he really ever that small? He guessed, because of living where he did, his childhood had been cut short prematurely. ..It was sad in a way.
He took his place at the Gryffindor table, ravenous after the eventful journey and grateful to finally get to Hogwarts. His stomach rumbled loudly. To be warmed by a fire and to fill his stomach would be like heaven on earth.
Now that Puffles had decided he's joke was over, Ness was able to relax and not stress over loosing her pygmy puff forever. With Puffles now on her shoulder, she walked into the great hall with a sigh of relief and eyed all the tables, including the staff table. There were quite a lot of new professors there and it was interesting to see their new faces, but there were other things Nessie was more interested in. She eyed her own house table and pouted.
It was packed by now..and the thought of going there involved the idea of getting lots of attention, which usually she wouldn't have minded. Today she was tired though and the last thing she wanted was to deal with was that. She still ahad no option, but maybe it wasn't a bad idea to spear just a few more moments were she was, in peace and quiet.
Her few moments didn't last too long as when she spotted a certain someone, at the Gryffindor table she almost began running full speed ahead at him. She didn't do that though, she knew she'd look silly. Instead she walked in a fairly fast manner till she snuck up behind her best friend.
Smirk.
Renesmee took her two hands and covered Tom's eyes. "Guess who?" she suppressed a giggle, not wanting to give herself completely away.

Kurumi tried to keep her smile genuine, not wanting to venture into such personal conversations with someone she barely knew nor ruin the lighthearted mood that the feast always provided, but it was hard. Lucky. Kurumi had never once considered her relationship with her mother to be anything of that sort...not until the very end. In those last moments...that was the first and only time Kurumi felt lucky to have her mother. That thought, while brilliant in its own right, stung and lingered like a poison in her mind and heart. "It was the only thing my mother taught me," she said softly, the use of past tense stinging just a bit more.
Not to mention that Alexa's use of past tense not going unnoticed and Kurumi gave her a knowing smile. Nothing more needed to be said.
"I don't doubt that," she said with a wink. About the trouble making that is.
Kurumi was about to say something on the matter of Alexa's sorting, but the girl continued to explain more of her reasoning...which actually really had nothing to do with the Sorting itself but with...a bet? Okay, could Kurumi laugh? No, no she couldn't. Alexa looked somewhat ashamed and nervous about losing the bet - how very Gryffindor! - so Kurumi shouldn't look amused...but she did. Just a little. "Well, we can't have you eating that old hat. What would we use to sort future students?!"
And NOW Kurumi giggled just a little because, well, it was sort of amusing.
She did manage to stop when the first year questioned her smirk. "Well, you do have to admit that the whole thing is rather...amusing." What else COULD you do but laugh at how completely insane the day had been. "And I promise, Selina won't kill you. I'll make sure of it." She couldn't have her best friend carted off to Azkaban after all.

"Hello," Kurumi waved, also noting that Nessie had made an appearance at the table and she gave the Hufflepuff Quidditch captain a quick smile as well.

"Hello... that's quite the display you have there," she said with a soft laugh. "Do the cookies dance here often?"

"Um...thank you," Kurumi replied with a slight bow of the head. Charms was not her best subject, but Kurumi had become rather handy with a simple Levitation Charm over the years. "Only at the opening and closing feasts, at least the ones that I bake." Because she was the one to charm them.
"I'm Kurumi, by the way, I don't think we have met before..."
And if they had and Kurumi had forgotten...then she really WAS a failure.

Emi smiled and looked up at the cookies. It truly was amusing, having the cookies dancing. "It reminds me of that one Christmas story... 'sugar plums dancing in their heads' or something?" she said, finding it funny that she couldn't exactly recall the classic story.
"You baked these? That's so cool!" she said. "I try my best in the kitchen, but it is not my best skill," she said, making a face. "Oh! I'm Emilia, I just transferred here..." she said, her voice hardening at her statement. She cleared her throat and pushed her misery away for the moment. "Nice to meet you Kurumi," she said with a smile.
one long day at school at I have 3 more pages to read!
Gryffinclaw-Ravendor • The REAL Hermione Granger
SPOILER!!: DancingwithRainbows
"That's good then... A couple of people broke a few bones apparently..." she said slightly sad at the end. She hated it when anyone get hurt, whether it be an animal like her poor cat or someone that she barely knew, let alone someone she was good friends with!!!
"Dark magic?" she asked wide eyed in barely a whisper, sort of intrigued by the entire concept yet realizing that she was probably too naïve in this case!
Sarah looked at her new friend her eyes dramatizing it, "maybe... In the crazy world that there is today things like that can happen. After all perhaps only a dark wizard would not like kids going to school to be educated. Yet that is just my opinion. Y'know, just one of my countless theories. As far as I know, the Hogwarts Express had never really been stpped, of course there was an incident in 1993 when dementors entered the train, yet I don't know if it actually stopped. Maybe I shall check the library for some details" Sarah said. Her mind whirring again.
SPOILER!!: Rupert-Grint-Fan
"I took the broken guitar neck." she said. "What about you?" she asked. Ewww. Talking about the Portkey made her even feel more sick.
"Well I took the teddy bear. So tell me, how was your summer?" Sarah asked. Her mind was constantly darting from one thought to another that some of the thinks she piped out with were rather out - of topic -random to others, who did not realize that craziness of her thought process.
SPOILER!!: alexa
"Nah, nothing too bad." She lied. Really her wrist had started throbbing but she was pretty sure that it would stop soon so there was no need to bring it to anyone's attention. All she did was land badly on it, other's had it much worse!
"Hmmm...well I suppose that does sound cool. What was it like--the city I mean? Is it really under water or is that just a rumour started by some stupid muggle?" Muggles seemed to like making up things and they were hardly ever accurate with their guesses.
Oh so this girl didn't know either. "Awww, then I guess we'll just hope fort he best." She sighed. "I just hope that Felix doesn't hurt himself, trying to eat someone else's pet." Hopefully the other pets stayed still so he wouldn't have a chance to get hurt...
Sarah detecting something strange in the girls eyes, the girl seemed to be hiding something. Yet as the girl brought forth no further details say let it be. She had to change the girls mind about portkeys, "The city of Atlantis was AWESOME" Sarah said, her eyes shining. "It was underwater, although it used to not be. Merpeople live there now. There are various theories regarding it. The merchiefteness said that it was sunk by a wizard who wanted the mugge out or something like that. You see, before that muggles and wizarding folk lived on the island, yet the one wizard did not like muggles, so he sunk the island." Sarah explained, cutting a long story short.
SPOILER!!: algamus
Well, these lions were growing on Algamus. Yesm, they were. This one complimented his superior cleaning skills, and that was a compliment that Algamus liked to hear. He nodded his little ol' head and plucked a piece of lint off the girl's robes. "Algamus takes pride in his work, studentsie, yes he does."
He sure did, thought Sarah as he fingered her robes and plucked something off. It was lint probably, Sarah did not care if her robes had lint on it, it was people like the charms professor that cared. After all Sarah did dress for herself. Internal beats external anytime. She looked at the staff table (which was crowded) for the charms professor, hoping that she had not come back -yet she had! As well as mean potions mistress. "I see that you do!" said Sarah.
SPOILER!!: kurumi
"I don't think you need to worry about that," Kurumi laughed. Not that her body image was really the best. Kurumi still lacked a lot of self confidence and that mostly came with her and her complex revolving around her metamorphagus abilities. Not that she was going to bring that up right now. The conversation with Sarah was light and airy and Kurumi intended to keep it that way.
Ah, just a saying...maybe. Kurumi had seen some people actually crossing their fingers before, but what Sarah said made sense as well. "Interesting. European expressions still fascinate and sometimes confuse me," she smiled, practicing her finger crossing again for a moment. She had gotten much better at it, but still couldn't really do it properly on her left hand. "Is your brother still waiting in line?" Kurumi asked as she stood up to peer over the crowd of students surrounding the front. She was sure Sarah didn't want to miss her brother's Sorting after all while being distracted by their conversation.
"No, he has been sorted! Look, he is coming over right now. He is another charge of yours!" Sarah said excitedly as she waved at her brother's small figure that was coming towards them. She sllid over a bit to make space for him on the bench.
Turning to Kurumi she said, "can I please have another cookie?"
SPOILER!!: ari
The younger Lioness was taking this pretty well, but Ari was still worried for her. 'Are you sure you don't need to go to the Hospital Wing for some medical care?' You could never be too careful, but on the other hand, from what Ariadne had heard, the Healer wasn't very friendly.
The fifth year nodded. She was fine with Sarah using the shorter version of her name. 'Most people do call me that. Friends, especially.' she said with a small smile.
Wow! Sarah was definitely a creative Gryffindor. The whole Hogwarts Express story made Ari giggle, but what if it was true? Nah...a train couldn't rebel against its passengers, even in the wizarding world. 'It might have something to do with the Board of Governors, but I don't think the train itself is to blame.' And that came from a person who hated trains.
Sarah nearly burst at laughing at the girls suggestion. "I think I overdramatzed it a bit It is really not so bad! Just grazes really!" She was touched by the girls concern though.
Sarah liked hearing feedback on her theories. The truth was she thought a lot of her theories were outrageous. "Yeah, maybe the train was enchaned with ancient magic that kept the Board of Governors at bay from getting too involved."
SPOILER!!: tiff
As she was talking to all the people around, she heard someone calling out for her and as she turned around, she noticed that it was actually the lovely second year. "Hi Sarah,"she grinned. "Nice to see you again." And then the younger lion leaned forward and whispered a lot of things to her which might be considered as something confidential though.
"Well...I don't really know that they're on the train,"she laughed. That's true since she was in panic when the train suddenly stopped and she was so excited about the portkeys when the Department Head explained their uses to them. However it turned out to be an unpleasant ride. "But how come you know all of that?"
Sarah grinned at Tiffany returned her greeting, "Nice to see you to!"
"I never saw them, just read about it in the Daily Prophet! The rest was all my own thinking... Just a theory you know.."

Lex raised an eyebrow at Kurumi when she said it was the only thing her mother had taught her. Two things caught her attention in that statement. Firstly the girl was quite old--anything over 11 was so her mother should have taught her a lot more stuff, which led to the second realization; the girl had used the past tense like her. This wasn't her favourite topic so she wasn't going to question it. Instead she returned the smile that Kurumi had given her. Maybe the yeller wasn't so bad afterall. Technically she hadn't been shouting at them anyway...more at everyone else for scaring the animals.
She giggled a bit when Kurumi doubted something she had grown to believe for years. "Well I'm glad you think so. My old teachers use to think I was nothing but trouble...though I have no idea why! It use to get ridiculous, I mean can you believe they punished me for starting a riot??" The nerve of that teacher; if she had given Lex that bloody star sticker instead of the heart one then things could have turned out differently!
The next thing the girl said also made sense. If she did eat the hat then no one else would get sorted. Hmm...that would have been a problem wouldn't it...?
"Okay, you're right--but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna punish the hat." She liked to show things exactly why she wasn't to be messed with and even though she was a proud Lion it still didn't excuse the fact that the hat had disregarded her wishes. "If it was as smart as people said then it would have known to just gimme what I want." Nod.
...
Why was she giggling? Lex was being serious here! She sighed in relief at Kurumi's promise--it was a promise, right....? "Okay....good, because I think I'm too young to die...especially at the hands of a mad woman." Just saying.

Chewing on her lower lip rather furiously for a few moments, Kurumi couldn't help but reflect on her own mother. Namely her final moments in the hospital, the journal she carried with her now of her mother's thoughts and feelings, and the ritual she had been a part of this summer. Which then made her wonder what sort of experience this first year had. What had caused her to lose her mother at such a young age. An age where she didn't even really seem to remember her. Kurumi was probably passing judgement, but suddenly the girl's behavior sort of...made sense.
"A riot? Why did you start a riot?" Kurumi asked, blinking in surprise. "We actually had an assignment last term for History of Magic where we were told to protest something we believed in. The Headmaster ended up sticking myself and my friends to the floor outside his office." Which had been funny, now that she looked back on it. All of them sort of camping out in front of the stone gargoyles. "Within reason, of course."
Kurumi ended up giggling softly again. "Well, if the hat had listened to me, I wouldn't have been in Gryffindor either. It seems to know what it is doing...sees parts of us we don't know are there. Ignores our requests. Really an incredible piece of magic when you get to thinking about it." Godric Gryffindor...simply brilliant.
Kurumi ceased her giggling long enough to lean in and whisper in Alexa's ear. "Call her mad woman to her face and I might not be able to keep my promise..." Fair warning.

Turning to Kurumi she said, "can I please have another cookie?"
Kurumi's eyes widened and she followed Sarah's gaze. "Oh, look at that," she beamed. Another lion! YAY! Kurumi had a good feeling about this term. A REALLY good feeling and not just because it was going to be her last. Yes, there would be issues within her house - look at everything that had happened TODAY - but she felt a sense of pride among her lions right now. It was a good feeling.

"Nice to meet you Kurumi," she said with a smile.
"Oh, you mean The Night Before Christmas, I think," Kurumi nodded. It wasn't a story she had been familiar with growing up, but some of the older students had read it in the Gryffindor common room when she had been a first year. Merlin...that seemed like forever ago while also seeming like just yesterday.
Kurumi nodded...and blushed....mostly blushed though. "I've been baking since before I could stand, or so father says. I visit the kitchens often and bake with the house elves as well. "That's what the name of it is, thank you!" Emilia said, glad that the girl knew what she was talking about. She hated when she forgot things, even something as simple as that.
"Oh wow, that's impressive," Emi replied. She had been that way about her art and her sports. "That's nice of them to share the kitchens with you. Do they even teach you recipes? Or have you taught them a thing or two?" she asked with a growing smile.
"Thanks... again," she said with a wide smile. It was nice to feel welcomed in the midst of all of the craziness of the past few days. "So, have you been here for all of your years?" she asked, curious. She had already met one transfer, so it was possible others had as well.

Slytherins and Gryffindors should stick together, haha. 'How have you been?' And most importantly, where? Not that Ari hadn't been away for a year herself, but she didn't get any updates from her older friend either.
Hug or no hug? She was supposed to be older, but this time she made an exception. Big bear hug it was! Just like the good ol' times...
Ari knew the feeling. It was wonderful to be back, especially considering that her absence had been longer than for most students. 'Not too bad myself, thank you. Though still a bit overwhelmed after today.' Who wouldn't be? 'Did you have a good summer?' Maybe it wasn't a good question to ask, since Kurumi spent her summers going Muggle, but Ari only remembered that AFTER asking the question.
The fifteen-year-old almost didn't catch the word when Kurumi repeated amazing. Why was she shy to take credit for something she'd worked for? 'Your cookies will always taste like home for me.' The only problem was, the Prefect was graduating this year. What then? No more cookies? NOOOOO.
The younger Gryffindor hadn't read much about the Hogwarts Express, so she listened to Kurumi, who, however, was as puzzled as herself.
Another familiar face joined the Gryffindor table. Ari waved at the girl but she seemed a bit worse for wear. 'Are you ok?' she mouthed in Arabella's direction, who was sitting a little further away from her.
And here came the other Prefect. It dawned on Ariadne that although she had seen him around the castle many times, she still didn't know him personally. That should be remedied. She nodded when the boy greeted everyone at the table and waited for him to sit down before she could introduce herself.
'Sorry to barge in like this, I just realized it was weird that we haven't met before. I'm Ariadne Marchbanks, fifth year.' I know who YOU are.
Whilst chatting happily, Ariadne glimpsed a housemate who seemed more quiet than the others. Waving to the girl, she asked: 'How are you doing? Did you land in Hogsmeade unscathed?' It had been the first time for Ari to travel via Portkey, but she had arrived safe and sound on the platform in Hogsmeade.
Ha! She had known it all along. There was no other House besides Gryffindor where this boy truly belonged. Ariadne clapped loudly when Dylan joined the table. 'Congratulations and welcome to Gryffindor! How was the boat journey?' she asked.
Arabella-Marie smiled and waved back to Ari and mouthed "I am ok Ari" Arabella-Marie winced a bit as she knew that her wrist was more than sprained it was probably broken and she knew that she was never going to travel by portkey again

Finally Hogwarts. They're forced using portkey to go to Hogwarts after something happened with the train. And the dizziness affect from the portkey was still there. Maybe after he eat something the dizziness will gone but he need to wait till the sorting was over and the Headmistress speech before he could eat something.
After making appearance in his house table, Messer walked to the Gryffindor table where his best friend is. He hasn't meet Alice since summer. Wonder how she has been.
Was that Alice? On crutches?
O________o
"Alice? What's that?D-did something happen to you?" She was alright when he met her during the summer.

The entire train had turned to chaos and with everyone running around like chickens with their heads cut off, Selina misplaced her bag. By the time she had finally found it, half of the student body was gone by portkey and on their way up to the castle. In fact, Selina was so late that she had wandered in with some of the first years.
Straitening out her tie, she started to walk down the isle toward the Gryffindor table. As she walked she saw many new faces and old faces fill the table. And of course, as Kurumi had bloody joked, the train climbers had been sorted into Gryffindor. But she also saw some of her favorite little Gryffindors like Tag, Penelope and Anya. Which reminded the redhead, her and Anya needed to have a very long talk later. This whole boyfriend thing that she had heard of really concerned the older Gryffindor.
Then she saw some other Gryffindors who she had caught up with briefly on the train. Kurumi and Gideon, the two prefects of her house, were already making the rounds with the students of all ages. They were the epitome of prefectom. Honestly, they were always so nice and patient with the younger students. If Selina had to be nice to every crazed first year in this school she would probably explode. It was not that Selina wasn't nice, she had been told on many occasions that once people got past Selina's rough coating she had the softest of insides, but sometimes people SCALED THE TOP OF THE TRAIN! No one inparticular, of course.
Feeling particularly moved by the spirit of the opening feast, Selina was about to roar, when she remembered the sheet of paper in her hands. RIGHT MORTIMER! How could she have let her beautiful little man be forgotten? This was a feast of joy and reunion, but some things were more important than food...
O______________________________________________o
Did she just think that? No she couldn't of. And yet, there the thought was. Could it be that Mortimer had finally surpassed her love of food? What a frightening thought. With that in mind she lifted the flyers over her head and yelled out, "Oi! Gryffindor! Listen up! This is your Captain speaking! HAVE ANY OF YOU SEEN HIM?" Please take a flyer.
Oh look, there was Captain Selina...and she was handing out posters? About...her bat? She lost her bat? How? Weird. But Penelope unfortunately hadn't seen it, so she sadly couldn't help her Captain.
But then, she looked at the poster properly and...hm? "It's not 2088 yet," she pointed out. Was he going to be lost in the future? How would you know that your bat would be lost ten years in the future? That was even weirder. Though slightly cool, if you really could predict the future or go to the future or something like that.

Kurumi winked? Penelope thought only guys did that. But apparently Kurumi did too. Cool. And Penelope even smiled a little when the seventh year basically said she was one of her favorite lions. It was nice knowing she was at least someone's favorite. Though, Kurumi was only alright now? "You weren't alright before?" So she HAD gotten hurt?

She really did like Penelope. She honestly like anyone who enjoyed food as much as she did. "Are you okay? Is your knee okay?"
Penelope wasn't used to the nickname "Nell," so she didn't realize who Alice was talking to until she came over to her...on crutches. Was her leg not healed? "I went to one of the carriages," she answered. She hadn't gone to the carriages immediately, of course, but eventually she had. And then she'd gotten separated from the people she'd ridden with. She was getting separated a lot today, it seemed. "My knee's fine." She nodded. "How's your leg? Has the Healer not looked at it yet?"

And here he had ruined her innocence of knowing about his failure.
"Nae...I did," Gideon remarked, trying to think of the best way to put it. "It just got...stolen...in the trouble in Hogsmeade at the end of term. Had to wait until we were back in London to replace it."
Speaking of a certain mentioned witch...
Hearing a familiar voice yelling for the table's attention, Gideon turned to spot the familiar redhead. He gave a sigh of relief and smiled to see her safe and in one piece. The seventh year moving to get up to move closer to Selina but stopping as she continued on about finding Mortimer, offering more fliers for assistance. Great...just great.
"Aye...please find him," he murmered quietly as he sat back down with a frown. Starring at the table for lack of anything else to do. He needed some even small bit of sanity returning to his life.
A few times? "That's cool. What did you two do?" Penelope was curious to know what boyfriends and girlfriends did - besides kiss of course. She didn't have a boyfriend and no one was interested in being hers, but she still wondered. And oh, that stuff that had happened in Hogsmeade. That was sad, having your wand stolen. "I could've given you mine, if you wanted." She was rubbish at magic anyway, so it wouldn't have been much of a loss for her. Gideon probably had needed a wand then more than she did.
Couldn't go back and change it now though, of course.
But even Penelope noticed the change in Gideon's mood when Selina had appeared to hand out those posters. "Something wrong?" Was he worried about the bat too?

There we go. Was it really that hard to say? Penelope didn't think so.
Her carriage ride? "It was fine." Y'know, just a normal carriage ride. Nothing really special about it. "How was yours?" Because even she could be polite too right now. Though mostly only because Atticus and Vashti's encouragements to be so still popped up in her head every now and then and made her feel guilty whenever she wasn't.

James shrugged on shoulder at what Penelope said, not rally caring anymore. "I honestly don't care what happens" he muttered bitterly, Alice's actions still stinging him emotionally.
And now something seemed to be bothering James. He didn't care what happened? Penelope thought his tone said otherwise. "What's up with you?" Besides the fact that his arm was hurt and stuff, obviously. She didn't think that was the reason why he suddenly sounded so...upset.

Alice saw Anya eyeing the crutches. "It's nothing, you know. I'm actually liking the crutches. They make me taller when I walk, see?" She beamed. They actually did, added a good bit of a foot on her height. So when she walked, she was taller than most of her friends. Not Jake, though, that boy was monstrous. "Oh, did you fix him up, then? ...Pony rides, though? "What's a pony ride?" He was pretty sure he knew what she was talking about... but he wanted to make sure he was sure before he went and promised her a pony ride and a piggyback ride.
Alice beamed again when Jake promised her a piggyback ride. He was like.. ten feet tall. So if she got a ride on him, she'd be like TWELVE feet tall. She thought that Jake could do that for a living, you know. Giving short ickle kids scary rides on the monstrous thing that was his body. When Alice became rich and a Queen, like she KNEW she would, she was going to hire Jake as her full-time piggybacker.
"A pony ride? Like.. hmm.. when you get down on all fours and be.. a pony?" She wasn't sure how else to explain it. BUT. She needed one of those, too, yep, she did. She could have one.. right..? AHEM.

"Be careful next time. I'm fine, just a few bruises." She nodded, mocking a serious tone. When comparing to her situation, her own injuries are the minor-est. "Anyway I'm Tiffany,"she beamed. She just hoped that the girl would be alright after all.
Breaking a leg was serious? Since when? If she was still breathing, Alice didn't think it was serious at all. Huh. Curious. "I'll try," she said with a smile. "It's nice to meet you, Tiffany, I'm Alice."

He scratched his head and frowned thoughtfully. “I fink I must've slept froo that. I just got wind of it from the ovvah kids y'know. ..Is it broken?” He enquired of her leg.
Alice. Thomas managed a small smile. He thought Alice was a nice name. “I'm Tom.. buh me mates back 'ome call me Broadmoor.” As in that infamous prison hospital, yes. “Nice to meecha.” He added. He may sound common as muck and look a little coarse.. and swear like a trooper, but Tom's dear old ma had taught him manners. He eyed the girl curiously. She did look younger. “What year you in, Alice?”
Oh. *facepalm* Did he really have to go into that whole business of why he left? His army application rejected and all the other stuff he was ashamed of? “Er. I had ovvah plans.” He said cautiously. “Buh.. they never quite worked out how I planned.” There. Must he go into more detail than that?
He chuckled. Tatertot was an amusing nickname for the former head. But Tom thought Tate was a cool bloke, not just because he was named vaguely after food.
Traveling by portkey had been interesting, and a first for young Thomas. And it seemed that had been the thing to finally jolt the boy awake properly.
His stomach was being all gargly and may have sounded like an angry cave troll, but he thought no one would hear over the sound of the students. He was wrong. He grinned at the girl and nodded. “Famished.” He replied. He was ALWAYS 'famished'. Sixteen year old boy on a constant growth spurt? He was basically a bottomless pit.
Could this boy really sleep through that much? Lucky. Alice wished she could have done that. "Yeah. But I'm going to the healer after the feast is over, so I should be okay." She smiled back at him. His concern was much better than the paranoid fretting of everyone else. It made her feel more relaxed. "Tom. That's a nice name." A nice name to go along with a funky accent. Heh.
"I'm a third year.. but I'm short.." hmph. Four feet eleven inches was not an acceptable height for a thirteen year old girl. Especially not a thirteen year old QUEEN. That's why she rather liked the crutches, they added at least half a foot onto her height. "What year are you in?" And.. now he looked upset. What? Did he say something she wasn't supposed to? "Oh. Well.. I'm sure everyone is glad you're back now.." She beamed at him. He looked like he needed a smile sent his way just then.
Was he hungry? "Me too. I wish we could EAT already." Hey. Little girls needed their food.

After turning away from Tom, she noticed someone else calling her name. she had to look around before she caught sight of him. Her bestie! He was here!"Messer? Is that you?" She resisted the urge to wave her arms in there and call out to Alec at the Hufflepuff table and let him know that she had found Messer. They'd been looking for him on the train, but couldn't find him anywhere. She also felt rather triumphant that it seemed that she had found Messer for Alec did, therefore, she had won.
She HAD won. Right? Whatever.
Uh-oh. He had caught sight of the crutches. "Yeah.. just a little mishap when the train stopped.. and some luggage fell on me. It's.. it's just broken, no big deal." Right? After the Feast, she was gonna go to the Healer and get it fixed up. So it was okay.. right? "Are you alright? Were you hurt on the train?" That would have been bad. If Messer were hurt. She didn't know about Ella. She knew that Melanie and Landon were okay, and that Alec had Anya fix up his scrapes. But not really anything else.

Kurumi certainly knew what it was like to not want added attention. Ironic considering she had been a prefect since her fourth year...but Kurumi disliked the limelight. "Try to think of all that attention as people showing you how concerned they are about you. Shows you have a lot of friends here."
Kurumi's smile widened a bit more when Alice said Walnut had been good. THANK MERLIN. Which meant he hadn't peed on anyone which meant she didn't have to go and apologize to anyone. "That they are....but I get the feeling this term will always be busy," she said, eyeing the staff table again.
The third year hoped Kurumi was right. The Feast would be over soon.. then she could go to the Healer, yeah? "Thanks, Kurumi. You must have a lot friends, too, y'know. Considering this giant crowd that's swarmed around you."Giggle. And it didn't really help that she was also passing out cookies. It was like shouting, Free cookies and an awesome person up for grabs over here!
Heh.
Kurumi looked happy when Alice told her that Walnut had behaved himself. What? Did he not usually do that? He seemed like a very sweet cat to the lioness. "Well, that's a good thing, right? A happy, good, fina—" she stopped mid-sentence. Kurumi probably didn't want to be reminded that it was her last year. And it already made Alice that her Hogwarts Momma was going to be leaving her, so need to clarify it. "I have a feeling that this one's going to be.. interesting."
Especially with that scary HeadMISTRESS.

Broken? Did she just say broken? o_____O She did, didn't she?
"You sure? It look not so good from I'm standing right now." How could he's not there when that happened? If he's there Alice wouldn't be on th--that thing. "D-do you want me to go to the healer with you after the feast?" Or give her a piggyback ride or something anything. "I'm alright. But I couldn't say the same for my candies and chocolate though. They're ruin." And now he's hungry and he didn't have anything to eat.

A look of concern grew on Lex's face when Kurumi began gnawing away at her lip. She knew that people usually did that when they were uncomfortable and jumped straight to the conclusion that she had ruined the conversation by making a potential new friend feel uncomfortable. Uhhh...doooo something Lex. Her mind went blank for a moment before it occurred to her that a simply smile might help. She offered one to her and hoped she would feel better. "I'm sorry, I didn't know that you didn't like talking about your mother." Though she should have. You really should think Lex. Do you like talking about your own?! Sigh. "We can talk about something else...what do you like doing?"
Her smile grew wider and more excited as the girl asked her about her little riot. That was a pretty good day...even though she got sent home once they untied the woman. "Oh that! Before I tell you, just remember it was all that woman's fault. Can you believe I got 100% on my spelling test and I asked nicely for the star sticker....she gave me the stupid heart and made the boys tease me about it," They got what was coming to them too, "So the next day before she got to class I had everyone climb unto the desks and break things then when she got there we tied her up--best day EVER!!!!!--Wait, why'd the Headmaster do that?" In all her excitement she nearly never heard that but she did!
So at this school Headmasters went around sticking children to things...? Well the old one anyway; the new one was just scary...
"Hmmm...I guess that's true...and then I wouldn't be a lion and I wouldn't get to run around roaring." Her brows furrowed at the thought of not being able to run around roaring like she did back home. And yes, she did plan to run around roaring eventually.
She became curious when Kurumi leaned in and she did too, freezing when she heard what she had to say. Her eyes went wide as she looked over at her. "Warning received..." And she didn't need to be told that twice!

Now that she knew the place really existed she really wanted to go--even if it meant taking another portkey. Wait... "If it's under water then how did you all visit?? Did you guys like get turned into mermaids or something temporarily??" That would have been even more cool and the wizard he sunk it had a good idea right there; if only Amanda was on that island when he sank it. It sure would have made her a happy 11 year old...
Sarah, happy to have an audience continued, "Yeah it is underwater. We had wetsuits on so we were okay. The mermaid we say had blue eyes, white hair and greyish skin and a fearful temper!" Sarah hoped she had gotten her point across, "see, portkeys take you to interesting places! tell me, if I were to tell you that you could visit Atlantis now through a portkey, would yo go - even with a portkey?" Sarah asked the girl
"Wet suits?!" This all just seemed to get cooler and cooler by the minute! "What class did you say it was again--I have to take it this year!!" She wasn't going to miss out on some other awesome trip that got them to wear wet suits and breath under water....breathing under water without wet suits was impossible...she would know, she tried. "And the mermaid was all strict like?" Hmm, that wouldn't have gone very well. For some reason people with bad tempers didn't like her very much. Such a shame too. She bounced slightly in her seat, "Yeah!! I sure would!!! You can't really hurt yourself in water so it would be fine!"

As Ronnie was sitting at the table, she noticed Dylan sit down. She couldn't help but smile. That meant he was in Gryffindor! This cheered her up a bit. She looked over at Dylan and smiled. "Hey, Dill Pickle!" she said. "Congrats on making Gryffindor!"

Ronnie noticed Harvey walk over. She waved over at him to come sit with her. "Harvs! Over here!" she called. YAY. Finally, a close friend was here. She was feeling a little better now.

Which was when Gideon made his appearance and Kurumi offered him a small wave before turning her attention to someone else who had just joined the table.
"Alright." Ronnie said, smiling a little bit. "Thanks." she added with a small nod. That was very nice of Kurumi to say...it felt comforting to have someone to talk to, which was all Ronnie really needed at the moment.

"Yeah, wet suits. It was History of Magic. Despite what everyone says about History of Magic being boring, we had fun last year, we went to Atlantis, had to protest something when we were covering rebellions and revolts". Thinking back to it, the thing she protested for was very silly. "The mermaid wasn't strict, which just were scared of them. She even let us take a souvenier home. I took a golden mirror!" Said Sarah. She was glad that she had convinced Alexa that Portkeys were okay
SPOILER!!: headmistress' speech at Staff Table
Annie stood and tapped her wand on her goblet, sending a clear ringing sound throughout the hall. She waited for absolute silence and, once she had it, began the traditional start-of-term feast.
"Greetings, students, professors, and visitors. Welcome to, or back to, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I am your new Headmistress, Anastasia Truebridge." The Headmistress flashed a brilliant smile at all the eyes focused on her.
"This year, as you have surely noticed, brings a great many changes to Hogwarts. We have new staff members in our midst, myself included; new students, and new student leaders as well. Please welcome your peers with open hearts and allow me to take a moment to welcome our esteemed guests back to Hogwarts."
She looked to the Board, who knew to stand when their names were called. "Joining us at the feast tonight is the Hogwarts Board of Governors. Board President and former Headmistress Cassandra Rae-Branxton; Board Vice President and former Professor Anjelica Lainey; Board Secretary and Senior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magica Ian Amoroso; and Board Treasurer and Three Broomsticks Owner Harold Lagerty. Please welcome these wonderful guests, who make the funding and running of Hogwarts a possibility, with a round of applause."
Anastasia waited for the students to greet the board appropriately and, in the meantime, snagged a drink of water.
Sarah clapped - not for the visiting guests (she was yet to make up her mind about them and their motives), but for the student body. Like the quidditch captains, the prefects, and of course the new students that were sitting around her. They added more colour to hogwarts.

Reason: coding etc...
James couldn’t believe it yet finally he was at Hogwarts sitting next to his sister at the Gryffindor table. Sarah had lots of friends she seemed, she was talking to so many people. He hoped he would also get a few friends. “Can you please ask the girl with the prefect badge to give me a cookie – I am too shy too”, James whispered in his sister’s ears. She had moved up on the bench to make space for him.
The headmistress got up to speak, and the other students applauded. While the students applauded James looked over the bruises that he had had from the incident on the train. He never had to wash the dirt off, because of the downpour that happened when he was on the boat. He shivered as he remembered it.
