As Belle was listening to the professor talk. She was paying attention, but he was speaking in a riddle. Belle had no clue what they were going to play but it sounded fun yet dangerous. Belle heard other students giving answers. They were saying Creaothceann...what was that game? Belle was not familiar with it. She was only familiar with muggle games. She was not familiar with wizard games, well some but not all. Belle just stood there and waiting for the next set of directions. |
"We're playing...Creaothceann?" Blink.Blink. SAY WHAT? Like...boulders flying at their heads and wearing cauldrons? Oh Merlin's beard. This was going to be interesting. Shudder. |

He then gave it a simple swish and flick to lift the purple tarps off of the items they were covering. Two piles of black cauldrons were revealed to the class. In place of handles, each had thick, brown leather straps. "Each of you needs to grab a cauldron and strap it to the top of your head. Please do this now or risk irreversible brain damage and possible death when we start playing the game." Smirk. |

The thirteen year old strapped the cauldron on his head, trying to do it like what he'd seen in a book, and making sure it was secure. It was.... heavier than he expected. He stuck his hand up. "Do we get to make it like... less heavy, with a lightening charm or something, Professor V?" He'd barely registered the 'brain damage' and 'possible death' there were more important things to worry about than that. Like winning. |
Tay glanced at the professor. He just called her Tay... she didnt know that the professor would call her by her nickname. She didnt mind and it actually made her respect him more because it made him seem even more friendly. Taylor was happy that he was her head of house as she went to get a cauldron. Tay strapped it on with a grimace and looked at her teacher. |
Oh Merlin's beard! Professor Vindictus was seriously excited about this, yeah? Ella couldn't help but smile at the man, wondering if this was because he was probably a fan of the ancient broom game, him being pretty much ancient himself. D'awww old people reliving memories was always quite cute. What wasn't so cute, these cauldron helmets. Ella quickly walked over and grabbed one, eyes widening at it's weight. O__O How were they meant to play in this thing? Shrugging, the third year raised the cauldron above her head with wobbly arms and attempted to wear it as a helmet would be worn. Blink. Blink. Can you say uncomfortable? |
Text Cut: demented_death_eater Dear Merlin, this went fast! Sierra was still in the process of raising her hand and giving an answer when the professor moved then on to the step in the final. *bliiiiiiink* They were going to strap a cauldron...to their heads. Right. This would be something new for Sierra. The prefect made way for the stash of cauldrons and chose one that looked like it'd be perfect for her and for the game. Irreversible brain damage and possible death?! Sierra tried to pretend she didn't hear that as she carried the cauldron away and began to attach it to the top of her head. She checked it twice, making sure it was secure and wouldn't fall off. Nope. She was good. No irreversible brain damage here. |
heh XD ironically a question from her last gobstones match :3 Yeah. Kurumi had heard the question and even knew the answer, but it was the whole question and answer combination that had her FROZEN in place. Yep. She was right. She should have stayed in bed. Her body moved on its own accord towards the cauldrons where she grabbed one and slooooooooowly set it on her head before taking several steps back and just...staring. If she didn't survive this lesson...the man wasn't going to get his cookies. Something for him to think about. |

"What? These are authentic Creathoceann replica cauldrons!" exclaimed Vindictus. "No one ever said that learning was easy!" He pointed at the cauldrons. "Eight pounds of grade A steel protecting your noggin! Wimpy plastic isn't going to cut it. All of you need to man up!" |
...'Brain damage'... 'Possible death'... Vindictus, could you cut it out? You're scaring my girlfriend. It seemed like she knew how the game was played. Max took Em's hand in his, giving it a tight squeeze, and he whispered quietly, "You're going to be okay. You don't have to try to catch them if you don't want to... you could... try to avoid them instead? And maybe catch a few in the process?" Unfortunately, Max didn't think there was much he was going to be able to do to keep Emmaleigh from getting hurt. Anything could happen. ...But Em's safety aside, Max was actually really excited. He retrieved a cauldron from a pile, hoisted it onto his head rather easily, and strapped it on securely. He was determined, energized, and he wanted to win. He shot a confident nod of approval to the other members of the Quidditch team nearby, as well as Vickers and Louisa. Ravenclaw had this in the bag, assuming it would be the houses against each other. |

But you know, just so that Vindictus understood that he, West, would in fact MAN UP, he flexed. See? He was good. But some of the GIRLS might not be, you know. |
Neat cauldrons! ...Er... What were they for though...? What kind of funny game requires cauldrons? Those things weren't very light at all and she didn't want to be struggling with one while she was trying to fly. That would've just been bothersome at most and annoying at least. And now she heard they would have to put it on their heads...? Uh-huh...right...-- Brain damage?! DEATH?! Okay cauldron, on you go. Jeez it wasn't very light though. "Professor I think this thing will be enough to give me brain damage or kill me." Seeing as he thought it would toughen them up. She wasn't a MAN. Flying with this thing on her head wasn't going to be very easy. It might have been the thing to pull her down. Nevertheless she strapped the thing to her head then waited eagerly for the next set of instructions. |
Em watched as the purple tarps were removed to reveal piles of black cauldrons. Trying to listen to the instructions. They were wearing cauldrons as helmets? Even though protective headgear sounded nice, the idea of a heavy cauldron banging around on her head did not. Nervously moving towards the cauldrons, the girl picked one up, and placed it on her head like a helmet. It was heavy and uncomfortable, and made her feel like she was in an old war movie. Which was appropriate since she was probably going to die today. She looked towards Max, and gulped, terrified. "Catch what? I don't understand." |
Oh okay, they were playing something called Creaothsomething. Why the pale faces of some students? Louisa eyed the pile of black cauldrons revealed to all of them and waving off professor Vee's warning and smirk she left her spot to get one. Even if he said this was to prevent damage, he wouldn't allow anything to hurt them... .... that last time was when a spirit of a pirate was possessing him OKAY? Hmph. She frowned and struggled to keep the cauldron steady on her head. |
Man up? Alright, Vindictus. Ella held a finger just underneath her nose and bent it slightly, making a finger-mustache. HEH. Man enough for the boss man? Ella even giggled a bit, imagining this is what Professor Vindictus might have looked like back in the old days when he played this barbaric game. tehehehe If she was going to die at least she'd enjoy her last moments. |
Minerva listened as class started and she had no clue what Vindi was talking about. A game like that sounded terrifying and didn't they have enough terrifying things happen this term.. Then people started naming the game.. CEO... WHAT! She was totally lost and not sure what was going on.. Then he said about going to get cauldron's for their heads. Were they learning to make potions on their heads, while flying. That sounded strange right.. Looking around she wondered if she was the only one not to know this game. Maybe it was because she lived in the muggle world that she didnt' know it. Now she had to put a cauldron on her head. Looking confused she walked over and took one putting it on her head. It was so heavy that her head kept wanting to fall to her chest. "This is heavy..." She tried to hold her head up and looked towards the professor. "How do we play this?" She was so confused and worried about what to do. West seemed excited which made her worry even more. He seemed to be a bit of a extreme sports type of kid, so if this was up his alley Min wasn't sure it was up hers. |
While the students were gathering the cauldrons and strapping them to their heads (some placing them upside down which was hazardous), Vindictus decided it was time to ask more questions about the ancient Gaelic game. "These cauldrons are not helmets," he said as he frowned at a few students who strapped theirs on upside down. "For those who have read about Creathoceann, what is the purpose of the cauldron?" |

He gave Emmaleigh a sympathetic frown. |
West picked up his school broom, trying not to think about it too much. He and school brooms weren't exactly on best terms since he'd murdered one of their brethren the previous year. He considered the professor and started getting even MORE excited for thisssss. YEAH. It was gonna be epic! He was bouncing in eagerness a bit, his whole body vibrating. HE WANTED TO BE FIRST. He had his cauldron STRAPPED on and everything and it was secure and probably looked EPIC so really, he was set. Comeoooooon. OH HE KNEW THIS! Hand up! "Catching as many rocks as you can!" |
Minerva had no clue what this game was or what it was about.. She looked up the best she could since the cauldron was so heavy. What was the purpose of the cauldron.. hmmm she had no clue really, but why not guess. "Profressor does this game make you brew a potion on your head in the air? Maybe as a competition against others?" Wow she was feeling like Laura all the sudden with her weird sounding answer, but it was the only thing she had ever used a cauldron for, so maybe that was what the game did.. |
Ella fixed her cauldron, realizing what she'd done. Giggle. WHOOPS. That wouldn't have been good. She then raised her hand, "Professor, you're meant to use the cauldron to catch boulders with." Quite dangerous but meh...some people were bored and needed things to do back then. |
Taylor watched and giggled at the ones who put them upside down. She rolled her eyes at the wimp then glanced at the professor as he started talking again. Tay raised her hand, "Professor, the purpose of the cauldrons is for catching rocks... the whole point of the game is to see who can catch the most." |
Wait. These weren't helmets??? Hmm...She slowly unstrapped it and held it in her hands again...weird...why wouldn't it be a helmet if it was suppose to save them from possible brain damage??? She knew this game was a funny one. Lex eyed the cauldron for a moment before taking a guess. "Does it have anything to do with using them like a net then?" You know...catch stuff in the air while you fly...That's the only reasons she could think of as to why it would need to remain right side up. Personally she was hoping they'd be catching candy in the cauldrons if that was the case...but then...how would the brain damage work-- GASP! They would be fighting in the air for the candy!!!!! She was so ready for this. |
...This was insane. Who in their right mind would find pleasure in this game? Jake looked down at the cauldrons, imagining one on his head. He'd break his neck. His balance would be all off, and he'd tip off his broom. This would not be fun. What was the purpose of the cauldrons? "To catch rocks." As many as they could. |
auldron perched atop her head, Sierra eagerly raised her hand. She was getting way too excited about this, but that was mainly due to how much she missed Quidditch right now. "Before the game starts, there's a hundred rocks and boulders floating, by charm, a hundred feet in the air. When the horn or drum sounds, all the rocks and boulders start falling to the ground, so you use your cauldron to try and catch them," she said. |
