Where The Green between the Castle and the Stadium
Who Can Attend First year students who need to learn the basics before Quidditch Tryouts, and older students who wish to brush up on their flying skills.
What to Bring School brooms will be provided for all students. Make sure to wear sensible clothing.
Professor Vindictus arrived an hour before the lesson was scheduled to begin and arranged the broomsticks in two neat rows on the green grass located between the Castle and the Quidditch Stadium. Once he finished the task, he stood by and waited for the students to arrive.
Finally, the puff decided it was time to move around. Though she was still just barely off of the ground, she leaned forward, just a tiny bit. The broom started to move, and she scooted around slowly. She carefully pushed her broom to the right, and felt the broom mover in that direction. Navigating slowly through those still on the ground, she got to the open field and flew around a little more. Taking a deep breath, she allowed herself to fly a little higher. She stopped when she reached the where she would be if she was on the back oh her mom’s horse.

Tag intently listened to the Professors instructions. Where to place the hands, how to control the broom, don't ever fly completely vertically, and don't jerk around when trying to change the direction of flight. Ok, that seemed easy enough. He then nodded when the Professor was done talking.Putting both his legs over the broom Tag did as the Professor said and placed his right hand on top of his left hand and gently kicked his feet off the ground. The leprechaun hovered in spot for a minute or two as he tried to get the flying pattens of the broom, just close to the ground.
He leaned to his right, very gently and began to go in circles on his broom. HA! This was fun. Ok. Serious now. He didn't want Selina, more than the Professor, to see him having this much fun. With great caution he leaned upwards and flew off the ground a few feet higher.
Post five. Forgive me all you dears clad in yellow! :D

Ready to get the show on the road. She did a couple more quick laps to get her prepared for the game she had just made up.

The small badger continued flying about, practicing her turns and speed. She didn't dare go too fast, though. Knowing that there were a lot of first years in the sky as well. She remembered her first lesson well and though it had been EPIC, it could also be a little scary. The last thing she wanted to do was knock an unsuspecting ickle firsty out of the sky. MEEP. That would be horrible.
As she headed towards the center of the pitch again, Ells suddenly noticed that she had a friend. Erm...well not really a friend, more like a pest. Sitting on her leg was a bee...A BEE. >.< Wasn't it a little late for bees to be out and about? I mean...didn't they like go hang in their bee hives and party for a while before they came out again to torment everyone? Apparently not, seeing as there was a fuzzy buzzy fellow just dying to sting Ells. Or so she assumed.
Squirm. Squirm. Squirm.
"Okay little bee, time to get off...just erm...go away please."
Yup. Ella Bishop the bee whisperer. Totally legit.
She made her way through all of the students looking for the ones clad in yellow. They shouldn't be too hard to find considering that they couldn't possibly be doing that well. She decided that for the best results she should fly a bit lower. Making her way across the pitch she found her puffer number one! She got close to her and yelled "DUCK!!!!" Lucky that one is! She zoomed off in search for another puffball.

Em’s ears perked up when she heard Vindictus give more instructions. This was just great. They were already supposed to be mounting their brooms and taking off, and she hadn’t even gotten her broom to rise. Forget it. She mumbled to herself, and reached down and grabbed the broom off of the ground. Swinging the broom under her legs, she placed her right hand over the left, and then switched them, to see which hold she liked better. So, push of of the ground? How was she to do that? The only thing she knew to do was to hop, and that’s what she did. She was entirely unsurprised when she landed right back on the ground.
She was off again going as fast as she could on a mission to find just the perfect hufflepuff. Ugh! Hannah you will never find a puffer at this speed, she scolded herself silently. You had to get on their level! Yes, yes...she had a plan. She slowed herself down with a slight forward tug on her broom. Then she spotted one on the ground...couldn't even fly! This one had to be a seventh year too by her size. Merlin! Puffers didn't even get better with age. She zoomed down to the girls level and screeched "DUUUUCK!" She sooo wasn't going to waste the good one on this duffer!

At a fixed point in midair, Logan Mancini gazed left and right, simply taking in the view. He had never been allowed this high into the air before, since he most likely would have just fallen over a railing or something. The longer he sat there, the more he liked it. But soon he wasn't content to simply sit...
Leaning forward slightly, he felt his broom begin to accelerate. He sat back up without pulling on his broom handle so he could maintain a constant, gentle pace. Alert for traffic, he started to lean left and right while nudging the broom in the proper direction. In this manner he traced out a zig-zag path through the air for several minutes. "Hey, I think I'm beginning to get the hang of this flying thing!"
Would his mum kill him if he tried out for Quidditch? Probably. Was he still considering it? Definitely.
Hannah leaned down on her broom and shot up once more. She was in search for the lucky puffer. Who's it going to be. She zigged and zagged her way around other students until she found one. THE ONE! It was a boy too. Goodie! She zoomed over to him and hollered "PUUUFFFER!" and followed it up with a quick boop to the head. Nothing too hard of course. She hoped the puffer caught on to what she was doing. Afterall she totally wasn't being evil or anything. She was just playing with them. Honest! She was helping them fly if anything. Surely the professor would get that. Sometimes life threw your curveballs and you should always be quick to act on your feet or broom rather. She was making him a better flier for crying out loud. Professor Vindy would get that! Totally!!!

So it seems like it wasn’t enough that he had the misfortune of having a bothersome splinter but also laden with an unreliable broom. He looked to the left then to the right of him, as if that would actually improve his luck of getting off the ground. ”Come on… FLY!” he grumbled.

His gaze shifted up to Vivi and her obedient broom, trying not to feel jealous with the ease she was having with this lesson. Alyssa just loved flying. Once she had mastered flying in circles, decided that she was going to try flying in a figure 8.
'Who knows one day they might name this manoevre after me. The Potter Loop.' Alyssa smiled to herself.
Grinning to herself, she first leaned forward on her broom to pick up a little more speed and when she was ready, she leaned to the left, pointing her broom handle to the left. When she started turning to the left, Alyssa flew a little in that direction and then leaned to the right pointing her broom handle to the right. She had now formed the bottom curve.
She continued flying towards the right and when she estimated that she was almost where the top loop would form, she leaned back to the left again, pointing her broom handle to the left and started to make the top loop. She continued turning towards the left, until she had flown the top loop, then she straighened out her broom handle to fly straight a little before leaning to the right again, with her broom handle pointed in the same direction.
Soon Alyssa arrived where she first started her figure 8.
Minerva had her broom in her hand. She couldn't believe how much her heart was beating. Come on Min.. You have done this since first year, so you lived as a muggle all summer with your grandparents, it doesn't mean you forgot.. It's just like riding a bike. With that thought she cringed, she had never been good at riding a bike, she fell more then she rode. It was a horrible thing to watch really. So that was not the thoughts she needed before taking off.
Minerva shook her thoughts away, concentrate there are first years up in the air already Minerva...you can do this. Putting her broom between her legs and gripping the stick she closed her eyes taking one last breath. Then opening them again she pushed off the ground and shakily left the ground and went higher and higher. Sitting up in the air she looked down and felt butterflies in her stomach. She hadn't been this high in a long time and the last time she was a beater was beating her up pretty good.
Taylor was getting bored and then that was when she saw Minerva. Her eyes grew and she shot towards her old friend almost running into her, "Minerva!" Tay would of hugged her but it would of been nearly impossible without crashing their brooms together, "You are back!" Taylor was happy, so happy in fact that she did a few quick circles around her. Tay hoped that the professor... and her other classmates wouldnt mind her loud squeal. She gave Minerva a good look and noticed that she seemed to be a little nervous which Taylor thought was weird since Minerva is an amazing quidditch player. "Are you okay, Mins?" Tay gave her a worried look as she pulled a right, and went into a quick circle. Taylor manuvered her broom so that she could be close to her friend so they could speak.

Minerva looked at the ground, it seemed so far away.. What was wrong with her. She hadn't had any bad falls, well in awhile she hadn't and if she could handle a beater she could handle a class, but then she remembered the pixies from last year. He wouldn't dare bring them back, would he? She felt like flying back to the ground and walking away at the thought of those nasty pixies back in the air with her. No..No he wouldn't do that again she told herself.
Minerva leaned forward, but leaned to much and started going down towards the ground. "OOOOHHHHH SHOOOOOTTTTTT" she yelled as she quickly pulled up on her stick and leveled out before getting to close to the ground. Wow that was way to close, she really needed to get her head into flying. She lifted up a little further and then looked around decided which way to go. Leaning towards her left she decide to fly towards the other side of the pitch.

Just a bit rusty from being int he muggle world all summer. I don't know why I'm so nervous to do this." She looked around even the first years were looking better then she did, what an embarrassment for a fourth year to be.

Juliette bit her lip and listened to the instructions nervously. She was fine when all she was doing was getting the broom to fly into her hand, but when it was time to get off the ground, she was fearful. What if she fell off of the broom and broke her hand, or stunk at flying and then got so discouraged she never wanted to look at a broom again?
You can put a broom up in your hand and help a house-elf cook a potion, and yet you can't fly a broom? She thought. Get on that broom and soar ! Okay, her thoughts really needed to not sound like cheesy inspirational messages.
Shaking all thoughts from her head, she gripped the handle tightly and put the broom between the legs of her jeans. With a deep breath she pushed off of the ground and closed her eyes, half expecting to fall right away, or for nothing to happen and her to look stupid. However, it seemed like something was going on. As she felt for the ground beneath her left foot, she realized nothing was there. Slightly opening her eyes she looked around and saw herself up in the air.
She loved the feeling of being in the air, it felt like being weightless and free. She honestly didn't really know how she did that, lucky guess if someone where to ask, but it seemed to work considering the fact that her sneakers where no longer touching the damp grass.
Post 4? Has Hannah and Penelope which I missed in my last post >.<

In all her swooping and rising, she almost missed the fact that Penelope had in fact seen her and was waving back. She made a rather shaky stop and watched the girl glide over to her.
Her face lit up at the question. "I sure do! It's the absolute best!!!" There were hardly any restrictions with flying and the freedom was incredible. "I'm guessing you do too...you looked like you were having some real fun before I stopped you.
Just then a curious sight caught her attention. It was the crazy Slytherin girl that she had been in an argument with by the lake!!!
"Merlin, are you seeing this?!" Lex asked, flashing around to look at Penelope. Leave it to a snake to think that they could do whatever they wanted! They had to do something!

Taylor watched as her friend had some trouble with her broom. "You will do good again, Mins." Tay gave her a sweet smile then did a few more circles around her friend. "Wanna race when you get use to it again?" Tay giggled and did a few quick turns. Taylor had flown a lot over the summer so she wasnt that rusty and her brother had helped her keep from getting rusty at quidditch. She glanced at Minerva but focused on the turns that she was practicing, getting good at doing sharper turns. Tay wanted to make even sharper ones but most of all she wanted to race someone. Her fingers clenched her broom as she flip upside down on purpose to make flying more amusing with only the basics that they were doing. Taylor longed for the professor to move on before she grew bored with things. Tay flipped back up and looked at Minerva. She readjusted her seating and sat there on the broom, waiting to see if her friend would say yes to the race.
Silvia gradually increased her speed and altitude, flying towards the far end of the green. She zig-zagged a bit on her way, moving to avoid the other flyers. Finally reaching the end, she pressed her broom to the side and began to fly a few laps around the perimeter. After each lap she increased her speed a bit. She was pretty high up and going pretty fast by now.
Suddenly she pulled her broom into a quick stop, careful to keep a firm grip on the handle so she didn't go slipping off. Silvia swerved the broom around, and continued her laps in the opposite direction. But this time she slowed down a bit, allowing her to occasionally glance around to see how everyone else was doing.

She sat there comfortably at this level. It would hurt if she fell from here, she knew that from experience, but she had done it several times. She also knew that she should break anything, unless she was very, very unlucky. Carefully, very carefully, she allowed herself to speed up. She was now moving as fast as she would if she were jogging. Though her knuckles were white from gripping so hard, she was gradually getting accustomed to the speed, and was about to speed up when someone zoomed by her fast, yelling for her to duck. She jumped, and felt her broom start to roll. Crossing her ankles, she kept her grip tight, and managed to hold on even as she was turned upside down. Her sore ankle couldn’t take it though, and her legs slipped and swung towards the ground. The girl’s feet were now just a couple of inches off of the ground, so let go of the broom. That decision ended up being a big mistake because she landed hard on her injured ankle, fell to the ground in pain, and the broom fell out of the air and hit her on the head. "Seriously?!" she yelled, holding back tears. Just when she was getting a little confidence on a broom this had to happen.

"Umm let me get use to the broom again Tay, and I don't know if racing would be such a good idea with first years around. No way, no how was she losing points again if she didn't have to.
Minerva then leaned forward and moved closer to Taylor right before running into her she made a lean towards her right and stopped next to her friend. "What do you say we head towards the other end of the pitch so that I can see if I can even fly straight on this thing anymore. I wish I could blame it on having a school broom, but I think it's just my nerves." she smiled at her friend and leaned left to turn to face the other end of the pitch. Leaning forward she headed the other way looking back only for a second to see if Taylor was following her.

Ok. A few more. Tag began to spin in circles while tightly clutching the handle of his broom. Real slowly. Not rapid-just nice smooth circles. He quickly looked beside him and saw others already flying. Hmm, hopefully Selina hadn't seen him yet. Right. Real serious business now Mr. Kildare. He nodded to himself. Slowly he leaned forward and got a normal pace of speed going on his broom. Making sure to keep a good distance off in the ground but not too far up he leaned more and more to gain more air.
With the slight breeze behind him Tag moved forward, hands gripping the broom tightly, he looked down at the others and side to side, most of the class was off the ground already.

Penelope grinned when Alexa agreed that she was having a good time. "Good!" Because that was what flying was about - having fun. And she was glad it was easy to see that she was having a good time too. "Yep, I am!" she said before deciding just hovering was boring and making a small loop around the first year. Yeah, she really couldn't sit still while she was on a broom. Why would anyone want to? It was more fun when you actually flew around.
She finished her circle by reaching Alexa's side again, now deciding to see if she could direct her broom sideways while hovering. She started with the left side so that she wouldn't bump into the first year and had managed to go that way a couple feet before her attention was back on Alexa. "Seeing what?" she asked. Penelope hadn't paid much attention to what the other students were doing.

Tay sighed and nodded, "You are right." Taylor hadnt been thinking about that and now she felt stupid. "After class, wanna meet up? I have to tell you something..." She turned to the left to face the other side with Minerva. Tay went slow with her friend so that they could still talk while focusing on flying the brooms and not crashing. Taylor tried not to turn while they flew straight but it was getting a bit boring just going straight. Tay managed to stop the urge to go fast and to do turns and she smiled because of it before frowning, thinking of Damon. Taylor didnt mean to but she pushed a little bit down which brought her out of her worrying. Tay let out a yelp as she fell off her broom, hitting the ground. After a few minutes, Taylor got up, grabbed her broom and got back on it. Tay flew and caught up with her friend, "Sorry about that... I guess I drifted into thinking about what I needed to tell you..." Tay trailed off and went back to focusing on her broom so she wouldnt lose control of it again and look like a total fool.

Minerva made it to the other end of the pitch without falling or having any troubles she smiled as she started feeling better about being on a broom. Looking back she noticed she had made it before Taylor and decided to try a few things while her confidence was up.
Lifting her broom she went up a little further then moved around in a zig zag towards the ground as if she was chasing something. Pulling up on the handle she leveled out and pulled up to go up further in the air again. Looking around Minerva made a few circles around the post and then turned to face the other end looking for Taylor.

When she was about to ask what happened to her Taylor already spoke up. "Of course we can talk after class." Minerva looked at her friend concerned, but had a feeling she already knew what it was about. "Want to do some zig zags with me back to the other end while we wait on the next instructions. I just hope it's not pixie's again like last term." she shuddered at the thought.

Ugh! A bit dramatic this one was. Had she never heard of duck, duck, goose before? She didn't mean for her to literally duck. Jeeze! Besides this one was on the ground when she had yelled. It clearly wasn't her fault that she raised up and then decided to pay attention to Hannah. Puffers! Great, just great! This one managed to fall off her broom. That was soo not Hannah's fault though. She was just trying to get everybody involved.
Now that he was in the air he could actually fly this broom now, so he pointed his broom downwards and didn't realise that he had done it too much and went speeding through all the others that were there, he was glad that he didn't crash into any of them but that tree that was ahead was not going to be too happy if he couldn't stop in time. How was he supposed to slow down or stop?
Oh yes pull back on the broom, thats what he did and he was lucky that he managed to stop in time. His broom was now touching the tree and he could see all the markings on it thats how close he was to getting hurt by this tree or ok so maybe the tree would have hurt him. But he would get it back for hurting him. He then tilted the broom to his left and kept on tilting until he was facing the direction in which he came, this time he made sure that he didn't push down as hard. As much fun as it was speeding through everyone he didn't want to end up in the hospital and miss all this fun!

Alyssa was flying back to the middle of the green, when she saw a Slytherin head towards one of her fellow housemates which startled her and caused her to fall from her broom. Alyssa quickly leaned forward on the broom and pointed her broom handle at a 45 degree angle down as she zoomed down to help the girl.
When she neared the girl, Alyssa leaned back slowly on her broom, pulling back on the broom handle and the broom started to slow down until she reached the girl's side. Leaving her broom hovering two feet off the ground, Alyssa dismounted from her broom and ran over to the girl and knelt down beside her.
"Are you okay? You had a nasty fall there?"Alyssa asked in concern.
Alyssa looked around for the Slytherin who had caused her to fall and spotted her flying past.
SPOILER!!: Bad, Bad, Slytherin

Alyssa called out to her,"Hey you there. Didn't you hear what Professor Vindictus said? No clowning around when you're flying."
"There are people who really want to learn how to fly without you playing pranks on them." Alyssa couldn't believe that someone would actually defy Professor Vindictus like that. She hoped that the Professor had not seen her do that.

Lex couldn't help but laugh when the girl showed so much enthusiasm in her response. Her eyes went wide when she saw the girl doing the flips. Now Alexa wasn't a baaaad Flying, in fact she was quite experienced but the problem came with the flips. For some odd reason she saw herself falling off the broom and hitting the floor with a hurtful thud the moment she went upside down. "How did you do that?" She asked in awe before pulling up her broomstick and trying to do the same.
She managed to get the broom into a vertical position but chickened out when she felt it give a little jerk and a yank. Right...so she would keep hovering with the broom in a vertical position. Yup.
"That!" She said, pointing to the maniac who was probably trying to knock all the puffers from the sky; those seemed to be her only target. She tried following the girl as she made her way around and ended up spinning on her broom in several directions. This was making her a bit dizzy.

Seeing her friend, Minerva flew to meet her and stopped next to her. Turning her broom in the opposite direction she flew back to the end of the pitch with Taylor.
"Okay." She smiled and nodded, "I will love to." At that, she started doing slow zig zags. Tay went upside down a few times for fun but always pulled herself back to normal side. Taylor went faster then slower. She easier grew bored of that so she went up and down then side to side as she zig zaged. Taylor combined going up and down with side to side. After she grew bored of that as well, she added the faster and slower to it. Finally she reached the other end and went down to land. Tay got off the broom and slung it across her shoulders as she stood, waiting for Minerva and also for the professor's next instructions. Taylor nodded, "Yeah, I hope he doesnt do pixies again..." She sighed.

Awarlesta listened to the professor's instructions. She looked down at her broom and straddled it...rather hesitantly. Placing her right hand above her left, she took a deep breath.
"Okay, Awar..." She told herself, "Just a gentle kick off the ground..." She kicked off the ground and the broom immediately started floating up.
She wobbled around, feeling unbalanced, gripping the broom handle. "Re-relax!" She hugged the broom handle, squeezing her eyes shut, hoping she would just steady herself. Sure enough, she stopped wobbling. Awar sat up. "Okay, baby steps."

Merlin! It was that puffer that always sounded like she swallowed the textbook in every lesson. Hannah honestly didn't mean for anybody to get hurt. She didn't think she was clowning around at all. Still she wasn't going to answer to another student especially a Hufflepuff at that.
She flew close to the girl that had spoke to her and squinted her eyes at her. Seriously they had no sense of humor at all. The girl was on the ground when Hannah had come by anyways. "Mind your business girl." She was already worried about getting into trouble so the last thing that she wanted to do was to argue with the fools.

His gaze shifted up to Vivi and her obedient broom, trying not to feel jealous with the ease she was having with this lesson. "My broom.... its a bit of a diva..." he quipped, shrugging casually as if this was totally expected. Quickly shifting his eyes downward he hiss under his breath "Stop being difficult and get going n-- "
... and he was airborne.
He gripped the shaft painfully to steady himself as the broom began to level off around the same height as Vivi's "Huh... responds better to a girl's voice. 'Should've guessed." he muttered as he floated along side the blonde. "Thanks." he added with a quick nod and a thankful grin. Now if he could get the broom to follow him....
"You have to be a bit of a diva back," Vivi shook back her ponytail and pulled back on her broom so that she drifted up and back away from Vickers as he rose in the air. That was better. Much. Less. Sad.
"Race you to that bit of brown grass right there," she nodded ahead and then zipped ahead of him, pulling sharply to the right from time to time to see if he was racing. Come along, little Vickers?
