First years, this way! Follow the Groundskeeper down the street from the Hogsmeade platform, over a shady, steep, rock path, and down to the shore of the Black Lake.
A fleet of magical boats bob gently on the dark, deep lake, waiting for your arrival. Four first-years per boat, please, and be careful not to tip over.
The Giant Squid might be looking for a feast tonight too.
Holy cow!! For such a little girl she sure could yell very loudly. Sebastian placed his hands around his mouth and yelled back. "YES PLEASE. BRING HER ON DOWN."
Ariella nodded and led the dog down towards the boats and over to Mr. Gibbins. Once she reached him she kneeled down so she could look right into the dogs eyes and grbbed the sides of his face, "Farewell, Pepper! It was lovely meeting you!"
She then handed the leash over to Mr. Gibbins, smiling brightly at him before speaking to him also, "Well I'm gonna get in a boat now so I'll see you later Mr. Gibbins!"
So she still got to ride the boats? Awesome! And what was this things about getting the best boat? Lottie had to agree with the Groundskeeper, though, because his boat was definitely the best.
Couldn't she climb on it? No.
So, clearly, she chose whichever seemed like the BEST to her. It ended up being the same one that the other boy had said. Why? Because it was on the far end...and there were more chances of waving at the Squid and be seen while sitting in those.
Lottie did just that, by the way, she waved and smiled at the water ALL the way. Merpeople and Merlin knows what could be watching. And she ought to keep those as friends, rather than enemies. The things at the bottom could be of help sometimes. Surely they'd remember the girl who waved. ^^
Merlin these kids were so anxious to get into these boats, weren't they? So excited they were that they couldn't wait for HIM!!
He was supposed to take them down to the lake. NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!
Sebastian reigned in the pout that almost formed on his lips and hoping that the two young girls were looking after Pepper and Millie, he ran through the throng of kids on the way down to the boats.
"Excuse me. Sorry." He may have just knocked one of them over in his haste to get to the boats before them. "Out of the way." He said, still in that kind voice even though he was rushing past people and pushing them out of the way.
And then he was there and the boats were in front of him. PHEW!!
"Okay four to a boat please."
Beth followed after the groundskeeper, feeling a bit nervous and excited. This was the last bit of her journey before she got to Hogwarts and got Sorted. She wondered what House she would be in.

Robert planned to purchase more suitable and less embarrassing pants via owl as soon as was possible.
He looked back towards the shore, wondering who would join him in his boat.
Seeing a boy in a boat by himself with a girl standing near by she approached them.
"Hello. Mind if I join you," she asked them, a bit nervous. What if they were already friends? What if they said no? It had been a long time since she had been around children her own age. She mostly dealt with the adults of her family.

Awarlesta looked up as a girl approached them. Awar turned to look at Robert to see if he'd say anything. She saw him looking at someone else earlier, but if she joined there would still be room. She looked back at the girl, "Sure! I'm Awarlesta." She said as she extended a hand to help her on the boat.

Beth couldn't help the smile that came to her face at the girl's words as she accepted Awarl's hand. "Brill, thanks," she replied, "I'm Beth."
With Awarl's help Beth climbed into the boat with little trouble. She wasn't so sure that would have been the case if the girl hadn't offered it. "Do you two know each other?" she asked, looking between the two.
"Only for about the last 20 seconds, I'm afraid. My name is Robert, it's nice to meet you Beth". Robert looked back towards the shore as the last few stragglers clambered into boats. Surely we must be close to departing he thought, already overwhelmed by the number of students that appeared to attending Hogwarts.
Sure enough, the boats detached from the dock in unison and slowly moved off across the lake.

"Nah dude. Mine is the best boat." Because it was the biggest.
The little Ravenclaw slowly turned in the direction of the new claims of BEST BOAT. As he turned around, he contorted in face so his mouth became a downward-facing "C," his nostrils were flared almost an inhuman amount, and his eyebrows were angrier than an angry doxy. He was prepared to smite.
"PRRRRROVE. IT," he challenged.

Almost as quickly as the portkeys acted, Dustin switched his demeanor to that of an overly-excited 11 year old about to make a new friend in a semi-normal manner. Er...so what he almost normally was.
He began to speak a mile a minute. "Hi I'm Dustin what's your name do you like water this is the best boat isn't it where do you come from what do you think Hogwarts will be like do you want to be friends but if we are going to do that I think we have to run into each other and fall over that's what all the people on the train were doing I think it's some rule at Hogwarts that you have to do that okay so friends yes what are you waving at"

.....yyyyyyyyyyyep.
BLINK.
She was better off trying to climb on the Groundskeeper's boat.
"Stop talking!" she said, her mind racing from everything the boy had just said. Then she breathed. Only once. What--what had he said?! "I barely understood a word you just said, Dustin," AT LEAST she understood the name. Dustin. Dust. This one will be better off in Hufflepuff, for sure. (ooc: oh, the irony)
So, with a smile that could only belong to a winner, her answers to the little bits and pieces she'd understood...were given. "I'm waving at the Merpeople and the Squid, the Giant Squid, that live in the lake," like, where was this kid coming from that he didn't know this was something he was supposed to be doing if he ever wanted something back from the lake? Exactly.
"My name's Lotus, by the way," she wasn't about to introduce herself as Lottie to Dust. Unless he learned proper speech.
This was the FIRST TIME EVER her excellent hearing failed her. She didn't like that.
