The cold and frigid weather outside didn't factor into Professor Elwood's lesson plans for the day's lesson so when you saw the notice on your common room boards you see that the second lesson of the term would be held outside in the Courtyard.
The Divination Professor, along with the help of some other members of staff, had placed charms on the stone courtyard to make it warmer and bearable, but outer robes will be necessary for this lesson. When you walk out of the castle you will see the Professor standing in the middle of the room in light blue robes with a scarf added for extra warmth.
"Good afternoon everyone, gather around me and once all of you are here we will begin." There were no objects in the area that you could see to give away what the lesson would be about but there soon would be. Just be thankful it wasn't currently snowing.

He picked an arrow from the quiver and fitted it into the notch, thinking of his question as he set his sights at the concentric circles in the far wall. There were several questions rifling through his mind, but the most pressing thing is his NEWTs of course.
Am I ever gonna pass ALL my NEWTs?
he pulled the arrow back into the string and let it fly. Seeing its trajectory Vickers was afraid that his usual accuracy would get the worst of him this time, but luckily his arrow pierced against the bend of the red target. "Whew..." he breathed relieved as he lowered his bow.

"No dear, I don't think this is where that comes from although I don't claim to know the exact origins of the 'magic' eight ball used by the muggles. You could always ask Professor Cerulean about it." Elwood was half and half but she had never really leaned the origin of such toys. "But this is different than that because in this you have a bit of a chance to help sway your results like real life."
While the Divinaton Professor had been watching and talking with a few of the other students she seemed to have missed little Laura Hyde's confusion about the bow but by the time Calista had made it over there, the Head Girl and one of her favorite students was already helping the girl. "Thank you Miss Carter. Miss Hyde do you get--?" She was about to just check with the Hufflepuff to be sure she got it but she obviously didn't since she was now running at the target with a fake arrow.
"Miss Hyde you string your arrow onto your bow..." She said calmly grabbing the girl's bow and doing what she said. "Then you pull it back...and RELEASE!" she shot the arrow and hit the ring just outside the center." See it wasn't too hard.

Now that she had given the kids sufficiant time on the first exercise it was time to bump it up a notch. "Alright everyone, bows down and arrows unnotched." She waited until they all were looking at her before continuing.
"We will now be shooting at moving targets." Professor Elwood flicked her wand at the targets and they changed colors and began to move from side to side and all over the wall; slowly but still moving. One became Red, one Blue, one was Purple, and one was Orange. "Each of the colors represent a feeling or characteristic that, when your arrow lands on it, will be the overpowering characteristic of your day tomorrow. What I want you to do is try to shoot a target of your choice and see what you get."
OOC: Use the same random number generator as before but this time #'s 1-25 = red, 26-50 = Blue, 51-75 = purple, and 76-100 = orange; however the same rule of zero applies. If your number ends in zero no matter what color it falls into it is a miss. Have fun. You only have to shoot once but whatever shot you end with, that will be the resulting mood or characteristic that will stand for your day tomorrow. You will have about 12-16 hours before the lesson ends.
Ohhh so now they get to hit moving targets! Vickers listened to the Professor explain, but kept his eyes at the colorful circles moving about, taking note of their speed of movement and other things. When the Professor was done he raised his arm to get another arrow from the quiver and fitted it into the notch. Aiming at the moving targets he waited until all of them drew close together then let his arrow fly.
It landed on the purple target
He looked up the meaning to where his arrow hit. Well thats how good his day was gonna be tomorrow is it?. It remains to be seen of course, but he was hopeful. Nobody wanted to have a bad day if they could help it.

Alright. Anya got a sign of approval from the Professor Lady. Good. First time holding a bow and she didn't manage to give herself a black eye.
Of course... she hadn't pulled the string yet...
But, she'd try that out now. She pulled that string back with two fingers... and let go of an imaginary arrow. Hehehe. This was fun.
She reached over her shoulder and grabbed an arrow from the quiver. She then leaned the arrow onto her bow. She took the proper stance.
And then remembered that she needed to ask a question. And of course... one came to her nearly instantly. Was it my fault? She pulled back on the string... and let it go.
Right to one of the yes targets. ...whichwasexactlywhatsheDIDN'Twanttohear.

Oh... and now they were moving. Dangerous. ... She eyed each target carefully. Was... she supposed to aim for one? She... felt those things everyday... so... she didn't really have a preference...
And so... she loaded her bow with another arrow from her quiver. Then she shot it... and it hit the edge of the purple target.
Bliss. She could deal with that.

Moving targets with colours? Awesome! Jory was rather enjoying this lesson. He listened closely to what was being said by the Professor. It seemed easy enough.
He got another arrow and placed it against his bow. He watched the targets, taking his time until he released the arrow. And threw the air it flew! Finally, it landed on the purple target. It seems the Puff will be having a good day tomorrow.

Resting her bow on the ground, Kurumi stared at the target an her arrow still sticking out of it. Another conversation that needed to happen before graduation. Why was time moving so fast? Kurumi was partly lost in her own thoughts when Professor Elwood explained what was happening next, but her attention was drawn back when something was said about moving targets.
MOVING TARGETS?
At least they were not using flaming arrows or anything. Once they were given the signal to go, Kurumi set her sights on the purple target. That seemed to have the traits that were more desirable and now, erm, awkward. Releasing her arrow Kurumi watched as it veered waaaaaaaay off course and hit the red target almost directly in the middle.
o__________O
"Passion?!"
WHAT was with the subject these days? Ever since Professor Elwood had come to Hogwarts every single prediction she had done or had done for her made her a blushing and awkward mess. Of course, anger was another option...as was love...but Kurumi's eyes were sort of stuck on passion.
Cheeks most definitely flushed, the seventh year turned when she heard Alexa speak. "Sadness, lazy, or modesty," Kurumi whispered, leaning over towards the first year.

Moving targets? O.o Like...targets that moved?
Beezus stared at the woman as she gave them the next set of instructions before her eyes went to the round darting boards earlier that have now changed its colors. And the color where their arrow would pierce through would determine the mood they'd have for tomorrow? Really?
Nodding at the Professor, the fourth year then loaded the arrow into the notch of her bow, took the proper stance and slowly pulled on the string. Her dark brown eyes settled on the blue one. Ravenclaw, duuh.
ALAS.
When she released the arrow, it pipped right into the purple one. Tsssk. Tssk.
What was the corresponding characteristic for purple again? Hmm. Excitement, happiness, bliss.

Now for the real thing... Kat took an arrow and placed it on the bow. One eye closed, she started to aim her arrow. First she thought of an answer... Will Beezus and Dylan ever date? Closing her eyes, she released her arrow and opened her eyes when she heard her arrow make connect with the target...
Yes. Kat smirked. She wanted to scream at Dylan's face saying "BEE IS GONNA SAY YES STOP RANTING." If Bee didn't say yes, Kat would've cried out loud about how inaccurate Divination was.

What? Aww... time for rest AND unnotching. Kat wanted to learn more about this so she could start hitting random people with arrows. Nah, she's kidding. She did want to know more about archery because she thought it was interesting and worthwhile for free time.
Now they were going to predict their mood tomorrow. Interesting. BUT the targets were moving. Kat hates moving targets! But she'd never miss a moving target... in Quidditch. Thanks to her position switch for the last game against Ravenclaw. Divination couldn't possibly be that different. Positioning her arrow on the bow, the Slytherin had one eye closed and one eye opened to focus on her target. She followed the target so that she wouldn't miss... Now... Here it goes.
Kat released the arrow and looked at her target... Her MOVING target which was so annoying. She hit the blue part of her target... meaning...
...
WHAT?!?!?! Sadness, lazy, modesty. NO NO NO. Kat did NOT like it. She was never lazy... sometimes... but it rarely happens! No... Just no.
Stupid Divination.

Sarah put down her bow and released her arrow as she listened to the next set of instructions. Anew excercise? Cool, determining tomorrows mood?
Sarah aimed at the purple one.. after all, was that not ideal. To be happy and stuff. That was Sarah's goal in life to be happy.
She pilled the string/arrow thing back and aimed... was it going to hit the purple? Well that depended on its speed and her aim, she hoped for the best.... AND IT LANDED ON THE PURPLE! That mean happiness, bliss and stuff! She was going to have a good day tomorrow!
Louisa beamed at the professor (Louisa doesn't beam normally but with Elwood it was alright) and nodded, it was kind of her duty to keep an eye out on the other students. She put down the quiver of arrows and held the bow to her side, watching the woman moving her wand and causing the targets to move and change color. Well. That's going to be extra hard.. oh but no, they're not supposed to hit a certain color on purpose. Phew, that's easier. The Ravenclaw mounted her quiver of arrows again and straightened up once the professor finished her explanation.
She held out her bow, positioned her hand on the wooden arch and reached out behind her to get an arrow. It was hard not to feel like Robin Hood. Her hand held the arrow's bottom to the string and pulled gently until the string was tight. Tilting her head and focusing on the moving targets, she took her time clearing her mind and focusing on the intention of wanting to find out about tomorrow...
... and SHOOT!
It was hard to maintain the position after the arrow left your bow, Louisa quickly dropped her arms and looked at the PURPLE target still moving with her arrow planted on the edge. "Excitement, happiness, bliss.." The words escaped her mouth in a whisper but her mouth was stretching into a big grin. See even if Divination was stupid to some people, Louisa thought high of it; It gives hope just like it offers doom.

It was time to put the bow and arrow down and listen to what was next for them. She listened as the professor explained that they were going to be doing something different. Hmmm... they would be shooting at moving targets now. That would be interesting. She had to admit that first coming into this she was not looking forward to it at all, but now she was actually kind of enjoying it. It was like it cleared her mind and she actually felt like she was able to get some of her frustrations out.
Hitting a moving target seemed like it was going to be difficult but she was sure that she would be able to do it. How hard could it really be? She just hoped that nobody else missed their moving target and hit her because that would be the worst mistake anyone could make.
She was ready to give it a shot. She picked up her bow and arrow once more and stood in the perfect stance. She eyed the different colored targets and wondered which one she would get. Not that it really mattered because she didn't believe in the rubbish anyways. She aimed for no where in particular and let her arrow fly. She watched as it landed perfectly on the orange target. "That means anxiety, fear, and awkwardness." she said to no one in particular. PFFFT! What nonsense. That was three things that Hannah never was. Further proof that this subject was for the birds!

Cassia was about to shoot another arrow when Professor Elwood started speaking. Good. The slytherin wasn't eager to ask another question when the previous two were answered nothing like she liked. Though hearing the Professor, Cassia knew that they weren't done. And more predicting was coming. She'd have liked it had the result been pleasant. But it was her second year taking divination and she was pretty convinced that it rarely gave her what she needed. Why is it that the result always didn’t satisfy her. She always had the feeling that she had a miserable life coming up for her. Hopefully this would be changed when Cassia got better in the subject.
So now…moving targets. It was challenging. And the second-year liked the sound of it. Ignoring that the possibilities of harm were increasing. Elwood totally took that in consideration and had some safety measures.
So, facing one of the moving targets. The second-year reached for another arrow and went into position. She locked her eyes on one of the moving targets and waited until it was in front of the string shooting the arrow forward!
Orange. She was going to feel Anxiety, fear and awkwardness. Or only one of them? Well either one Cassia guessed it had something to do with sleeping in the great hall. She was feeling awkward having to share the great hall as sleeping area with all the other students. Hopefully, this will be it and nothing fearful.
She stepped back from the target leaving room to other students. This lesson was rather fun. She had learned to shoot arrows which was cool.

Professor Elwood was so glad that the lesson had gone smoothly and she didn't have to take anyone to the Hospital Wing with an arrow in their neck or some other grisley injury. She made one last walk-up behind the row of shooting students and came to a stop by on the far end.
"And that's the last shots! I'd like to thank everyone for a wonderful lesson. If you could just play your bows and quiver of arrows here by me that would be appreciated." That way she wouldn't have to walk all over the courtyard to pick them up. "Homework will be posted soon. Goodbye everyone!" And the students were free to head on inside to get something warm to eat for lunch.
