Once you enter the Divination tower classroom from the ladder in the ceiling of the corridor below you will see it set up the same as usual apart from the drapes being pulled back and the windows open to let the spring air in.
The normal clutter along the front wall where the professor's desk was didn't allow for any real notion of what the leson will be about so don't spend too much time worrying about it, not good to cloud your Inner Eye! Professor Elwood is sitting at her desk absent-mindedly tracing shapes on her desktop.
"Please come in guys, and have a seat."
OCC: The lesson won't start officially until much later but won't really move on past the first question until tomorrow morning. Please read the classroom rules before posting.

Ah so he was a doctor "What are you a doctor of if you dont mind my asking Sir?" Doctorates, regardless of specialization, is a long and arduous process to complete, if one completes it at all for that matter.
His gaze shifted to Laura when the portrait responded to her. Oops? First lesson learned in social etiquette eh little Badger? Where had he been located? "Well I used to hang in the corridor down by the Kitchens but I was moved over the summer to a hall on the fourth floor. I still go visit the Kitchen level every now and then for a sentimental journey you could say." He said it with a small smile but not really showing much cheerfulness.
"Just Kurumi is fine, sir," she said with a small blush. Miss Hollingberry made her feel sort of awkward. Kurumi bowed her head again and jotted down a few things on her parchment - particularly that his blue eyes were sparkling somewhat. She noticed Logan had come over as well and she offered him a small finger wiggle greeting before it was back to her notes. Blue...blue...what did blue mean? Kurumi glanced at her textbook for a moment to reference. ...blue eyes was believed to be forthright, gentle, generous, loyal, modest, and forgiving... Well, if her first impression of him was on spot then this all seemed to be right on spot. "I hope you don't mind me taking notes," she said in an apologetic tone as her quill began to move over her parchment. His eyes seemed rather large and round, sort of like a baby owl's...but sad.
So...big and round...
Flipping through her book a bit more, Kurumi stopped when she came to something relevant. ...large eyes indicate sincerity, industry, loyalty, affection, and intelligence... Again, seemed on par, but Kurumi really didn't need any of this to be able to come to this conclusion on her own. Just from speaking with Colonus, just sayin.
"That is why you seem so familiar," Kurumi smiled she looked up from her parchment. "I spend a lot of time in the kitchens. It's sort of my second home away from home." Sentimental reasons? Hmm. "Was there a reason why you were moved? You seem to like the kitchens, especially if you keep going back to visit. Were you attached to then when you were alive?" Did this mean that he was a Hufflepuff? Heh, talk about ironic. Kurumi being drawn to the portrait of a former Hufflepuff with captivating eyes not as nice as a certain someone's green eyes though.

Well that was rude. The ickle!Sarah ignored her. Not a nice thing to do right now, child. The blonde was annoyed. She hated being ignored, and to think it was a lifeless but moving portrait that ignored her? Haha, that was totally ridiculous. The girl rolled her eyes, but she had to keep the pleasance in her voice. Otherwise this young girly girl would not help her out with this Divination task.
Kat cleared her throat. "Hello." YEAH, that was all she was going to say. No name introduction because this girl!portrait was being mean to her.

A ball? How funny. "You're funny, I wish I could really play ball with you though. I used to play dolls and stick and hoop with my sisters. I had two." She nodded.
"My history?" She asked, her small smile falling just slightly, her blue/grey eyes losing their brightness a bit. "Well I lived in the country with my mom and dad and sisters. We didn't have much but we had plenty. My big sister was going to school here at Hogwarts and my other sister was supposed to start the year after I died. I was 10. The death eaters were working with He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named before Harry Potter was born and he was trying to recruit. Fenrir Greyback came to our village to intimidate the wizards and witches. My dad said no and he came back to scare him and I was the one who answered the door." Very sad business.
Belle smiled. "Well i have a little sister and two little twin brothers. I am the oldest in my family. So i do have a lot of responsibility." Belle said flashing back to her home life and dealing with the crazyness. "Trust me it is crazy." she smiled.
Then when she told her history, she knew it was going to be a sensitive subject. "Oh i know it might be hard for you." Belle told her sympathetically when she realized her eyes were losing their friendly brightness. "I do not mean to sound rude do not get me wrong." But as Belle was hearing her history, it did make sense. Oh my god she had to die so young? She was only 10? she barley started hogwarts. "Oh my gosh i am so sorry. It is actions like that you wish you could take back but you probably could not have prevented it." Belle assured her. As Belle was examining her eyes...she heard Minnie ask the same question.

She wanted to get to know the portrait as she did her work.
Writing a few things on her parchment so she would know what to put when taking to Sarah she looked back up at the girl. What shape would you say her eyes were Minerva thought. "You came to Hogwarts, right?'' he asked. "Obviously,'' he though. But he was just making sure. "Which House were you in?''
Belle smiled when she saw Minnie. "Hey Minnie, i was going to ask the same question about your eyes Sarah. Are they a mixture of blue/grey?" Belle asked just to be sure. They seemed to be so youthful. They had a nice touch to her personality. Belle knew the answer to her age because she had told her. She was ten years old. She was so young. Fenrir Greyback did not know what he was getting himself into. Those Death eaters caused so much destruction back in the day. Belle would not know what to do if she was caught in a situation like Sarah.
Belle was jotting the notes about her eye color and personality traits and even history notes. You can never be too prepared. Then another hufflepuff came and joined there group. She had seen him around but they never really met. Belle smiled and waved at him. He asked a question she was curious about. What house was she in. Belle interjected and said, "Yeah Sarah, i am curious, what house were you in?"

This one was proper, as one should be. Hannah's parents raised her to always be a lady. Sure she could have an attitude problem, but that wasn't really her problem... more like everybody elses. There was absolutely nothing wrong with not taking any crap off of people.
So what was she supposed to ask this portrait? If she had it her way she would just come out and ask her straight up about the color of her eyes and whatnot. Maybe that was rude though? The last thing she wanted was to offend the portrait and then not get any answers. The quicker she got this over with, the quicker she could be done with the rubbish assignment.

I still go visit the Kitchen level every now and then for a sentimental journey you could say." He said it with a small smile but not really showing much cheerfulness.
A young child was the next student to approach him, one that reminded him sadly of the children he never was able to have. He turned his sad blue eyes on the Hufflepuff as he spoke."It's nice to meet you young Pao, I'm Benjamin Colonus."
Pao lingered behind a bit to let Kurumi have some room. Still, he listened to what Benjamin Colonus was telling her. The information may be helpful. That's when he heard that he frequented the Kitchens corridor. "Oh, that's probably why I recognize you! Our common room's down there!" He knew the man had a look of familiarity about him.
As she continued her queries, Pao jotted down a few notes. Eye color was blue. Size... maybe a bit bigger than normal? As for shape... More round than usual. He absently flipped through pages in his book until he saw the meanings and jotted those down as well.
But what about size between the eyes? It was really hard to tell in a painting. Even if he measured it, it wouldn't be the actual distance unless the painting was perfectly to scale. This he highly doubted. "Er, d'you think you could tell me approximately how far apart your eyes are?" It was an unusual question, and certainly not one Pao could answer about himself.
Oh another student, a girl this time. A pretty one at that.
"Hello Louisa, it's nice to meet you." She smiled and looked down slightly, her eyelashes covering her green eyes before turning them to look upon the girl's features. "What should you like to ask me dear?"
.... "Oh! Right! Umm.. nice to meet you too, Mary, right? I heard the little girl call you that." Louisa chuckled a bit nervously, talking to a portrait like that made her feel just a liiiittle bit weird. She fiddled with her quill, still staring but without blacking out this time. The girl's eyes were... greenish. Long pretty eyelashes, Louisa wanted to have ones just as long. But anyways, it was class and serious stuff should be happening. She stared against trying to catch the girl in the portrait's eye.
Green, fairly large eyes. She wrote down on her parchment then started flipping through the textbook to see what that indicated.
First color, there wasn't much about the color green per se but Mary's eyes were greenish blue so Louisa took note of that and scribbled: 'blue eyes were believed to be forthright, gentle, generous, loyal, modest, and forgiving.' Hmm. "Umm.. have you, by any chance, found yourself in a situation where you had to be extra.." She looked down at the list of adjectives. ".. loyal? Or forgiving?"
She was going to work on the size of the eyes in a bit.
Befelda then walked up straight to the painting of Benjamin Colonus and suddenly stared closely into its eyes. She can see blue eyes.
She then cleared her throat and started a conversation with the painting. "Ehem...uhmm...Hi! I'm Befelda Solster, first year from Hufflepuff. I see you have blue eyes. They're gorgeous. Uhm...anyway, may I ask you some questions, like all other students were asking? Well, can you tell me about yourself? Where is your painting located by the way?, Befelda asked without taking a gap.
Augustus had been trying to get a good look out of the window of the classroom to see if perhaps there were any astrological phenomena that could keep his busy during this experience but that was not an option because 1.) he couldn't see from hsi frame and 2.) a girl had approached him.

A Ravenclaw? How nice. They were quite intelligent he had learned from the years being in the Castle.
"Pleasure to meet you Mr. Vanderbilt, Dr. Augustus Von Stryer, at your service." he greeted the boy, slowly blinking with his brown eyes. The boy seemed to be an upright boy and hardworking. "Oh just now? No it was not long, Clive just found it rude but he is known to overreact." He said with a bit of humor in his tone. That man was so full of himself and had such a big head it was a wonder who he fit in his frame.
Ethan returned the nod to Vickers as he approached the same portrait he chose, then listened as his little group asked questions and Dr. Von Stryer answered. He wasn't exactly sure of what sort of thing he was supposed to be asking. He guessed he needed to figure out his personality and see if that matched the traits his eyes possessed according to the art of Oculomancy.
The boy peered at the portraits eyes as he engaged the little group in conversation.. Brown, but the rest seemed.. average. Not too closely-set or wide apart, not too big or small.. just average. He'd look up what that meant in a few.. he thought it best to get a handle on his personality for now, then see if it matched up with what was in the book.
He started jotted a few things down in his Divination journal - notes about the portrait's eyes and answers to the questions he and the rest of the group were asking. This might help him keep some things straight when doing the assignment.
SPOILER!!: Notes
Dr. Augustus Von Stryer

Okay.. not much to go on for now.. but he could add to it. Now.. what else to ask? Vickers asked a pretty good question.. maybe he would tell them about his profession. "Could you tell us anything about your family? Were you married.. did you have children?" Family relations were important too, right?

Elwood walked infront of the paintings and their eyes followed her.
"Their eyes are as realistic as possible with the materials used at the time of their creation but as many of you have probably learned from a Potions Lesson a few terms ago that the photograph or painting is charmed to be like the person it represents; so if you are having trouble figuring out color based on the physical representation, ask them." They were obviously more than ready to talk. She HAD gone to the less travelled parts of the Castle.
"Any other questions?" If there were none they could now start. "What I want you to do is come pick a painting and begin interacting with it trying to pick up on they're eye color, eye size, spacing/placement, and twinkle or dullness. Once you've done that I would like you to make an inference on your parchment about what the artist was trying to say about their subject's personality."
Okay, so this didn't seem all that difficult or time-consuming. Sierra rummaged through her bag and came out with a fresh piece of parchment, some ink, and a quill. She got all the materials set up on her desk, dipped her quill in ink, and then surveyed the portraits.
Sarah Fairbanks.
She chose the young witch, because the girl was closest in age to Sierra. She felt like maybe she could relate to her a little more. Well, except that Sarah was just a portrait and Sierra so obviously wasn't. She wouldn't say that last part out loud, though...
"Hello, Sarah," she said. "I'm Sierra, and I'm seventeen-years-old." Erm...so what now? "Sorry if it looks like I'm staring. We're doing an assignment on your eyes..." Did that sound polite? Sierra hoped so. The last thing she wanted to do was anger a portrait she was using to earn class points.
While Sierra waited for the portrait to speak, she took a few notes of her own.
Eyes are in between average-sized and large-sized
Eyes are wide open
Eyes appear to be hazel with a mixture of gold in them
Eyes appear to be sparkling, as if Sarah was happy
"Finally one with manners. What can I do for you girl?" Clive looked at her. She seemed polite...enough. Her hair was outright red, a shade that was most ostentatious and certainly brought much attention to her head. She would have been the perfect client for a powdered wig.
Finally one with manners.
Well, that was the most ironic statement she had heard all bloody day. Especially coming from Mister I-Am-Such-A-Jerk-Face-Portrait. Seriously, she was so rude and the fact that he kept interrupting Elwood was not something the sixth year appreciated. But she had to be polite or something like that because he was old and crusty and you had to be nice to old and crusty people. It was the rules of something or another.
So she kept her mouth shut and her snarky comments to herself before she asked the ghost, "My name is Selina, sir. And I was wondering if you would like to help me with this assignment for class. So would you mind telling me a about yourself?" Honestly, she was pretty sure he wouldn't mind talking about himself. He seemed like the type.

The portraits were suddenly a little on the quiet side (a blessing in disguise, really), so Sierra took the opportunity to make more notes of her own. She looked over the list she'd made earlier, wondering what each trait meant for the person in the portrait.
Eyes are in between average-sized and large-sized
Eyes are wide open
Eyes appear to be hazel with a mixture of gold in them
Eyes appear to be sparkling, as if Sarah was happy
Eyes seem vivid and lively
Hmm... She dipped her quill in ink and began writing.
According to what I've read, large eyes indicate traits such as sincerity, loyalty, affection, and intelligence. I think the painter was trying to bring out how sweet and kind this little girl was. When I look at the painting, I see the innocence of a child reflected back in her eyes. If she was a student here at Hogwarts, I could see her being in Hufflepuff.
Oddly enough, hazel eyes are supposed to an indication of sincerity, intelligence, ambition, and friendliness. I think this little girl has the traits of at least three of our Hogwarts houses, but again, she has more traits of a Hufflepuff. I can imagine her being one of these people who are all-around friendly to others.
I think this little girl was also what you would call 'full of life'. Her eyes seem to have a sparkle to them and appear vivid and lively. She seems like she would be like a ray of sunshine when she walked into a room.
"You are welcome Miss Dawnsel." Benjamin nodded as she spoke again his blue eyes following her's. "I can most definately answer that for you. I had a normal childhood. Was rather studious throughout school. I was an only child and came from a family of moderate means. I just fell in love with a woman that I met in the town I went to University in...she turned out to be a banshee and she...ended my life on our first date." Yes, it was a horrific story to recount but he had done it so often it was numb to him now.
"I see... That's very sad." She gave him a small smile and went on. "Did you love this woman even after you found out she was a banshee? And, why did she kill you?" She jotted down some notes about him. "Sir, would you say that you have forgiven this woman? Do you love her still? I apologize if that's being very forward." She looked down at her notes and gave him the time to answer, if he so chose.

As the students were talking with the Portraits, Callie had made a point to finish some marking. She hadn't but moved her quill across a few papers before she heard the room begin to quiet down. Why were the pictures becoming so quiet, they usually were so talkative.
"Ladies and gentlemen," this was directed at the portraits. "don't forget we are on a time crunch." she eyed the clock and just as she did so the subject in their frames began to speak again.
Kimothée Chalamet • The UWU Agenda • Once Baby, Now Trouble • All Growed Up
So the portrait did not really like talking to her. HMMPH. Right, even the ones with pretty cute faces have facades huh? FINE. JUST FINE. Kat as the portrait talked to the other students but obviously avoided her. Fine, if that was what the PORTRAIT wanted.
In the process of being annoyed with the portrait, Kat just took out her quill with ink on it and wrote the things she noticed about the portrait on her parchment. It's called observing, a muggle scientific process... I think.
SPOILER!!: Parchment yo
Oculomancy - kind of Divination where you see reflections on another person's eyes; kind of like scrying.
Sarah Meanhead Fairbanks
Eyes look like a conflict of blue and grey
Eyes look big or large
Eye spacing looks normal
Eyes look like they twinkle
Meanings in Oculomancy
Blue eye color means gentleness and loyalty. Grey eye color means moral strength and prudence. Large eyes mean sincerity, affection, and intelligence. Yeah right. I think that if eyes twinkle, it means to say the person is happy about something or about themselves.

Probably due to the sudden rush of questions and interaction with the students all gathered infront of them, the portraits had somewhat withdrawn and became quiet. It took a bit of encouragement and reminder of the time from the Professor to get them back into the talkative mode.

Blah. Blah. Blah.
That's really all she was hearing. "I'm sure that's all well and good but I'm afraid it means very little to me since I don't follow politics so you can stop being all high and mighty about it." Her attention span was much too short to allow it. "Tell me something more practical. You don't look very old which means you didn't die of natural causes. Did someone do you in when you weren't looking? What'd you even do to make someone else do you in?" Then again he could have just met into an accident then died...not a very interesting story so she'd wait for him to tell it. In the mean time she scribbled notes about his black eyes. They were saying a lot today...
"Fine, I'd rather no greeting at all than a half-thought up one." The narrw set balck eyes flashed slightly as he took in the rude girl.
And the rubbish continued to fall out of the girl's mouth. "No one, did me in girl. The painter I commisioned to create this painting of me just did it when I was this age, I don't age in my frame." Yes death worked that way for the Headmaster's paintings but he wasn't one of those now was he? Huh?! He had been very goal-oriented but his position at the Ministry was high enough for him.

Laura wanted to know if the Portrait missed his wife since she obviously wasn't in the portrait with him, that was if he had one of course.
Ah, good manners this one. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well."
He nodded as she spouted off questions and his brown eyes flickered with light as she mentioned his wife. "Well, yes I was in Hufflepuff just like you young lady and I met my wife here aswell. She was a year young than me and in Ravenclaw. We got married when I was 20 and her was 19 and we had 4 children. We see each other daily in our portrait in a German museum of Astronomy." He could go on all day about her but she had an assignment. His small eyes watched her as she thought of what to ask him next.

Sarah wondered what kind of blue were htey, were they electric blue, calm blue or icy blue. Sarah decided to ask questions to find out, "what colour eyes did your parents have?" Sarah was interested in genetics and she wanted to find out if the lady's eyes were a mix. "Did you go to Hogwarts and if so what house were you in? I and three of my brothers are Gryffindor, my other three brothers are Ravenclaw, my mother was a Gryffindor and my father was a Ravenclaw", Sarah always seemed to be speaking too much. "Also, what year were you born?" she asked
Quiet curious this one, eh?
Belle Meade patted her dress in a wrinkled place and began by answering the girl's first question. "My mother had blue eyes and my father had hazel eyes, yes they were hazel." She said trying to remember. She hadn't spent much one on one time with him since his company did trading in the Meditteranean. "I did go to Hogwarts I was in the Slythering House but I transferred for my last two year to Beauxbatons because my mother wanted me closer to home. And I was born in 1843."

"I usually go by Vickers, its my nickname..." he says, just so the man doesnt have to use the Ravenclaw's last name if he doesnt want to, given that it is a mouthful "How do you want to be referred to Sir? Dr Von Stryer?"
Ah at least someone interested in his life's work. He couldn't count the number of little kids that used to ask him who he was and then instantly stop talking to him once he went on about the stars. "I have my doctorate in astronomy and magical elemental sciences."
"You may call me Dr, son." the man's small wide-set brown eyes gleamed a little as a small smile appeared on the man's face.

"No, notes are fine, Kurumi." he said shyly as she pulled out the parchment and started writing. He wasn't sure how comfortable he was with the kids staring at him so much but they were nice, and this girl seemed genuinely interested in talking to him.
"That's nice, I think I may have seen you down there before. I was moved because every so many years a few of the portraits are moved for whatever reason. I don't know, it must be something for decorative purposes." It was stupid if you asked him but Benjamin wasn't about to argue, he could just go visit... "I actually did visit the Kitchens quite often when I was here at Hogwarts, as a Hufflepuff my common room was down there."

Who was yelling?
Sarah turned from the girl she was talking to and looked at another girl one who seemed to have arrived some time ago. "Oh Im sorry, I didn't see you there." The little girl felt awful and her large hazel eyes showed worry. "What can I do for you?"

SPOILER!!: Sarah Fairbanks Crew!
Sarah smiled as the girl talked about her brothers and sisters. "Your family sounds so nice. I had a younger sister and it was so much fun being a big sister to her." Her large, wide-set eyes gleamed slightly.
And when she was finished with her history she was thankful for the girl's appologies but there was nothing they could do about it now. "It's okay, I just felt horrible for my mom and dad and sisters, they were so sad after I was taken away."
"Oh I actually hadn't gotten to start school yet. My mom and dad talk me lots of stuff though. My sister was in Ravenclaw so I had hoped to be in it with her."

The last thing she wanted was to offend the portrait and then not get any answers. The quicker she got this over with, the quicker she could be done with the rubbish assignment.
Manners. "I'm Hannah Lockwood and it is a pleasure to meet you." She always had manners evern if she lacked other things. "So tell me about yourself."
"Ello Hannah, what a lovely name." She said calmly, her small blue eyes gleamed as she spoke. "Well, I must admit I was a very interesting person. I was born in 1843 to a rich man who owned part of a successful trading company and his wife. I was invited to all the nicest parties in Paris growing up and was soon married to a wonderful boy of my own age and class. I then began to design clothing and became known all over Europe. I lived until I was 81, very old for those days and passed away peacefully to join my love, Franchis."

"Oh you are a Hufflepuff, I was one when I attened Hogwarts." His eyes brightened slightly and the sadness inthem was replaced by intrigue for a moment.
"Umm...sure. They are about medium set apart?" Yeah, he raised a finger and placed in inbetween his eyes, just above his nose. Yeah that seemed about right.

The Ravenclaw girl seemed really nice and Mary was happy that she had come to talk to her.
Especially loyal? "Now that you mention it. I actually met my husband, who was a squib and I gave up my magic in order to stay with him...against my paernts wishes." Yeah they weren't happy but she was in love.

Okay.. not much to go on for now.. but he could add to it. Now.. what else to ask? Vickers asked a pretty good question.. maybe he would tell them about his profession. "Could you tell us anything about your family? Were you married.. did you have children?" Family relations were important too, right?
"I was married, and had four kids, daughters." He nodded, he had already mentioned to the other boy who was right there too that he got to visit with his wife's photo in the museum all the time.

Eyes seem vivid and lively
"Hello Sarah, it's okay. As a painting I'm used to everyone staring." At least this girl wasn't sadly staring. That's how her family was for years and years after she had died. She watched eagerly as the girl wrote notes on her parchment.

Ah, good manners this one. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well."
He nodded as she spouted off questions and his brown eyes flickered with light as she mentioned his wife. "Well, yes I was in Hufflepuff just like you young lady and I met my wife here aswell. Laura looked at the portrait and smiled. "That is so romantic." Laura hoped that the Portrait wouldn't mind her talking about his wife. "So how long where you together?" Laura was getting the hang of this, though she wanted to know more about his wife but she had an assigment to do. "If you don't mind me asking what are you most famous for?" Laura was sure he must have done something great to be a portrait.
The talk of Elisha made him a tad sad once more but he had to talk about it to help the children with their work. "That was awfully kind of you to offer to work on your relationship even though she was a banshee," she said with a small smile. She didn't want to make him any sadder, so she changed topics. More on task now. "Erm...how would you describe the size of your eyes?" She also wondered more about his personality. "And what do you do all day as a portrait? "Haha, you're funny." The young girl giggled as the Hufflpuff made the joke about his last name. She wished people like him would visit her more often.
"I actually wasn't able to attend this school, I was ten when...the werewolf killed me." She said quietly. "But my big sister did, she was in Ravenclaw." The large wide set hazel eyes looked at the boy innocently.
Jory grinned. He had never considered himself funny. He did a little bow. "Thank ya very much,'' he said.
The Puff felt sad for Sarah. "I'm so sorry to hear that,'' he said. She hadn't been able to live and enjoy life. Changing the subject as he didn't want her to feel sad, he said, "Your sister had to have been brilliant.'' He wondered what House Sarah would have been in. Just then he heard Sarah say no one ever visits her. "I will visit you sometime,'' he said.
Looking down at his parchment, Jory began to write down the description of Sarah's eyes:
Quote:
1.Large
2. Wide
3. Blue/ Grey
4. Bright
Now, he began to write on the characteristics:
Quote:
Big eyes represent innocence, loyalty and other positive traits. The artist wanted others to know that Sarah was an innocent and carefree young girl who's life was tragically cut short. Her bright eyes would represent her curiousness for life and again her innocence. It would also indicate a happy person, some one looking forward to life.

Oh. So the portrait just noticed her.
Saving the best for later, Sarah Fairbanks was. SNORT. But obviously, she needed to know this girl's eyes more than the personality. The personality, she didn't need to know. She didn't care either, okay.
"It's fine," Not. Kat said. Didn't see her? BLIND. "I'm Katrina Hudson." HANG ON. The girl's eyes were hazel this time. Uhmm, what?! Okay, time for some corrections on her fail observations in her parchment.
So... "How would you describe your eyes? You know, the spacing, placement, twinkle, those stuff?" Kat wished she made sense. But she needed to get the most information she had as possible. In little time.

Oculomancy - kind of Divination where you see reflections on another person's eyes; kind of like scrying.
Sarah Meanhead Fairbanks
Eyes look like a conflict of blue and grey hazel
Eyes look big or large
Eye spacing looks normal
Eyes look like they twinkle
Meanings in Oculomancy Blue eye color means gentleness and loyalty. Grey eye color means moral strength and prudence. Hazel eye color means firmness, ambition, and friendliness. Large eyes mean sincerity, affection, and intelligence. Yeah right. I think that if eyes twinkle, it means to say the person is happy about something or about themselves.

[QUOTE=The Portraits;11270597] Sarah grinned and nodded quickly as the girl explained what they would be doing, it sounded fun. "I actually have hazel eyes but sometimes they look blue, yes. You're eyes are a pretty blue though." She continued to listen as the girl prompted her with more questions, her large wide-set eyes following those of her interviewer.
"I am ten years old and my portrait is in the Library now, back near the restricted section. I don't like it there though, no one ever comes to visit." She said a small frown appearing on her porcelain-like features.
Minerva listened to Sarah, she was such a sweet young girl. "Oh I love the library, I am up there many times throughout term. I will make sure to visit with you more, ok?" She would make sure to talk with Sarah more so she doesn't get lonely. It had to get lonely for a small child. She then smiled at Belle who had asked questions as well. Oh how she well died, well that was an interesting thing. Minerva didn't like the answer and frowned, that was horrible poor thing. "I bet you would have been a wonderful Hufflepuff if you were to be in our house, but Ravenclaw is good too." She smiled nicely at the girl and made a note about her eyes. "Oh thank you.." She said about Sarah saying her eyes were nice. She did like her blue eyes they were one thing she always enjoyed. "There the same as my dad's. He had blue eyes as well. Our your eyes like anyone in your families?"
Minerva took notes on the girls eyes, hazel, big spaced nicely. "You seem to have a sparkle in your eyes, did anyone ever tell you that before?" Younger kids always had an excitement in their eyes didn't they? Minerva remembered the stories she had heard from her mom and remembered her brothers eyes always seemed to sparkle.

Oh...
Kurumi bit her lip and tried not to think about that while she wrote down a few more notes.

Kurumi caught the glow in the portraits eyes. Or twinkle. Or both? Whatever it was it was confirmed that the man had bright eyes. So there was some more note taking done on her parchment. And...medium set of eyes? What did that mean? Nothing specific it seemed. Close set eyes had a meaning and so did wide set, but medium was just...average? Nothing wrong with that. Color spoke more about a person anyway.

And then Kurumi was frowning and slightly regretting mentioning Lewis to the portrait. However his story and him saying that he fell deeply in love with a woman and still wanted to be with her showed how incredibly compassionate and forgiving a person he was. Which was why she jotted down a few more notes, linking his story to his eye color and shape. Was this a Hufflepuff trait? The ability to love someone unconditionally like that despite their flaws? Granted, Kurumi was not a banshee...but she had kept her abilities from him because she was afraid he would reject her. But he didn't. Just like Benjamin didn't reject his love.
Incredible really.

It was in her nature. I just wish it could have ended differently. I do forgive her though and I still love her." His face burned slightly but the sadness in his blue eyes was noticable.
And then there was more frowning from Kurumi when she heard the other part of his story. How his love, Elisha, had been the one to kill him...but that he forgave her. Well, that settled things then. Parchment filled with notes and some basic drawings of eye shapes and what not, Kurumi set to writing a paragraph summary of her findings.

From speaking with Bejamin Colonus it is clear that these traits are also reflective of his personality not that I needed to scurry his eyes to figure that out. Being a Hufflepuff, we know that he is open-minded, loyal, and affectionate as those are traits associated with the house. From his story about Elisha, we see that he is also very gentle, generous and, above all, forgiving. Simply speaking with him has shown that he is modest and positive as well. So, even if I had not been given the opportunity to speak with him and just study his eyes, I know now that the definitions made by Oculomancy are actually accurate at least in this case
Glancing up from her parchment, Kurumi looked at Benjamin Colonus with a small smile on her face. "Thank you for your time...I think I've got what I need for the exercise, unless you have any questions for me." It was only fair after all.

Yes death worked that way for the Headmaster's paintings but he wasn't one of those now was he? Huh?! He had been very goal-oriented but his position at the Ministry was high enough for him.
Lex pretended to listen to him as he went on about not wanting her greeting. Pfft. As if. By the way he reacted when she didn't do it the way he wanted her to she could tell that her greeting obviously meant a lot and nothing he said would convince her other wise so she just jotted down what she could.

And now he was going on about not being done in. "Right...of course you weren't, so then you grew old and shrivelled and died a happy man in your bed?" She figured it'd be good to ask. He didn't seem like a very happy guy now and she was curious about whether or not he died a happy man at all. "Oh and while you're answering that..." She glanced down at her parchment for a second, "You mind telling me what your eyes say about you, would you? It'd get me out of your hair sooner." It would, it really would. "But if you don't wanna then at least gimme some details on your eyes." She was always one to cut to the chase. Especially when Portraits were being annoying about a status they no longer had.

Probably due to the sudden rush of questions and interaction with the students all gathered infront of them, the portraits had somewhat withdrawn and became quiet. It took a bit of encouragement and reminder of the time from the Professor to get them back into the talkative mode.
As Belle was talking to Sarah and learning her history. It was very interesting. Her sister was in ravenclaw and Belle thought she would make a great hufflepuff after all. Then Belle realized she did not take any notes yet. Belle then took out her notebook and started to take notes when she was nodding and listening to Sarah talking.
