Divination Lesson Three (Oculomancy) Once you enter the Divination tower classroom from the ladder in the ceiling of the corridor below you will see it set up the same as usual apart from the drapes being pulled back and the windows open to let the spring air in. |
So it was back to the Divination towers for class huh? Mmm. She liked the courtyard better. It was nice and open and had a lot more fresh air than simply pulling the drapes could provide. The Professor was certainly backwards. While it was cold she made them go outside but now that things were warming up she had them inside? Seriously? Where was the logic? Entering, she noticed the Professor by her desk...she wasn't sure what she was doing though so quite curiously she walked up to her after dropping off her bag in a seat. "Good Day Professor....watch'ya doing?" And why but she would get to that question soon enough. She would've also asked her how she was doing but the last Professor she asked that question got hauled off by a plant so she thought against it... |
Minerva made her way to class. Her mind was so in thought that she made it through the classroom and half way in the room before even realizing that she had made it. Stopping she looked around and saw Alexa. "Oh hey Alexa" Looking around she couldn't believe she was the second one there or that she was standing in the middle of the classroom. Where was her mind, shaking her head like that would help she looked to the front of the room. "Hello professor, hope you are well today." giving her a nice smile she moved to a seat and pulled out her parchment to be ready for class to begin. Once her parchment was out and she was ready her mind drifted back to the many thoughts swimming around. |
Ethan climbed up the ladder into the classroom, immediately thankful that the room wasn't as stuffy as earlier in the term. He had thought that today would actually have been nice to have the outdoor class as was the case last time.. but obviously Elwood had something else in mind. Walking past her desk, Ethan gave her a friendly smile. "Good Day, Professor," he said brightly on his way to find a seat. And that would not be too hard to find as he seemed to be one of the earlier ones. Giving a polite smile to the young Gryffindor whose name he did not know, his smile grew a bit wider upon sight of the other girl in the room. "Hey, Min," he said, taking a seat near her. The boy then pulled out his things and set them on the table, waiting for class to begin.. and wondering what sort of crazy they'd be in store for. Hopefully just the normal kind.. and nothing too bizarre. |
Ella entered the divination classroom with a smile, feeling quite happy for no particular reason. It was a good day and the Spring weather was making the third year excited for the upcoming summer and all the adventures that would bring. "Hello Professor!" She greeted with a warm smile before heading over to take a seat by the open windows. She then smiled at Alexa and Minnie, waving at both girls. "Hey guys." Beam. |
Gideon made his way up the divination tower ready for the latest class, sure to be there at the right time as the announcement from Professor Elwood had said. The seventh year had still decided to attend despite the fact that it wasn't really his greatest class. Yet he still felt the need to support Selina and her abilities so he was there. Climbing up the ladder, Gideon stepped into the classroom above and looked around as he moved away from the trap door in case anyone else was coming up right behind him. It looked just as he remembered it, having missed the last lesson for one reason or another that had gotten him excused. "Good day, Professor Elwood," he said, greeting the woman with a polite smile. He then made his way to a seat to await class to begin. |
As she peeked her head into the Divination classroom, she breathed a sigh of relief to see that she had made it on time. She climbed in and found a seat near the front of the room. She wasn't sure why, but she wanted to be close to any action that may happen during the class. She spotted some of her friends a gave them a quick wave, then greeted the professor - though she seemed pretty interested in her desk. "Hello Professor. Lovely sunshine isn't it?" She was glad to have a little more light in the room, and was equally glad that it didn't feel as sweltering anymore. |
Up the ladder and into the Divination classroom. A few students were there already and so was Professor Elwood. "Good day, Professor,'' Jory said. "Hope everything's good with you.'' He gave her a smile before moving off to find a seat. |
Divination time. Her last one as a student. Oddly, she was starting to get used to all these 'lasts'. Not that she wasn't sad, but it was a fact of life. Or maybe it was just because they didn't feel like lasts because she hadn't taken her NEWTS yet? Yep, let's go with that. Anyway, she trudged her way up the ladder for what would be the final time and pulled herself into the room. She was immediately grateful for the fact that the window was open, as it had always been sort of stuffy in the room. She found herself a seat, called out a "Hello, professor," and waited for class to begin. |
LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST Divination lesson and then all that was standing in her way from putting this subject behind her were NEWTs. Which was why she had a bit more spring in her step as she entered the room and made her way to her usual set and set her bag on the one beside her because THAT was reserved for Selina. She would be spending her last ever Divination lesson sitting next to her best friend and any partner work she was going to claim her too. It was Selina's fault she was here in the first place. "Good day, Professor Elwood," Kurumi chirped as she set her things out - very uncharacteristically of her usual greetings in this lesson but she actually WAS happy about being here this time. Heh. |

So as she waltzed into class, she took in her surroundings before spotting Elwood. She waved to her Professor and said in a rather chipper fashion, "Afternoon Professor!" The redhead wanted to add in a question about if the two of them could have a chat sometime after class because she had an extracurricular question- but she would wait until later. There was no need to bother her now. Spotting her friend, she waved to Kurumi and settled into her usual seat that the two of them shared during every single Divination lesson since Selina was a second year. Then Selina stopped as she sat down and looked Kurumi dead in the eye, "This is our last one, isn't it?" |
SPOILER!!: Haaaii Minnie, Ella and Ethan While waiting on a response from the professor who seemed quite taken in by her desk she saw Minnie walk in. She beamed at the girl when she greeted her. "Hey Minnie!!!" She watched the girl take her seat but she was determined to stand there until she received an answer to her question...or at least until the Professor forced her to take her seat, whichever came first. Then a boy she vaguely recognized gave her a smile. Meh. He got a smile in return but only because she was sure he was Minnie's friend so he couldn't have been all that bad. Oooo and Ella!! "Haaai Ella!!" GRIN. The girl was nice too and she promised they could go to the zoo together so that made her extra cool on Lex's list. |

Then she smiled as Ella entered the room and sat down. "Hey Ella" she greeted the other puff and then noticed more students had come into the room as well. Where was her mind today... Defiantly not up in the Divination tower that she could be sure of. |
Hannah was really not looking forward to Divination, not just because she didn't like the subject but the whole professor freaking out over the brooch thing had kinda freaked her out. She knew that something fishy was going on at Hogwarts and she wanted to know what it was. She almost wished that something else would happen in this class so maybe she could get some more clues. As she walked in she saw the professor. "Hello professor." There weren't mant students here yet. She took a seat away from everybody else and kept her eyes and ears open to anything that seemed out of the ordinary. |
Divination class was next. Neutral, Kat was. It was going to be her last Divination class for the term and she was determined to do it right. No points lost and such. Obviously, Kat wanted to skip the class but... House points. That was the only reason why she was here, for house points. Riiiight. Even if she wasn't good in Divination, Kat was just going to expect the unexpected.... That was confusing. Once Kat reached the door, she smiled at the Divination professor. "Hello Professor Elwood," Kat greeted with a smile. Yeah, being optimistic was going to help her through the day, yes. Smiling was the first step on having a happy day. "How's your day so far?" Something Kat didn't ask all Professors. Then, she took a seat. |
Kurumi Pao huffed and puffed his way into the classroom. He was glad he hadn't been Sorted into Ravenclaw like the rest of his family. This was a LONG walk up to the tower! "Buon giorno*, Professor!" he said. Pao noted the happy feeling that the fresh air and natural light lent to the room. He liked it much better this way. The first year took a seat at pouf near Kurumi. "Hey, last lesson, huh?" It was a rhetorical question, so she didn't have to answer it if she was upset. Smart thinking, Mancini! *good morning |

Bliss went up and entered the Divination classroom, looking around it carefully. Lots of things were going on lately and Bliss wanted to get to the bottom of it, though obviously she couldn't do that on her own. But still, might as well do something. Even if that was only keeping a closer eye on everything that was happening around her. Yeah. Constant vigilance. Crossing the classroom, she vaguely waved at Ella, Lex and Kat, but didn't stop to chat. She took her seat at the far side of the classroom and waited for everyone else to come in so that the lesson could start. While she waited, her eyes swept around the room. If there was any danger, she would spot it. That's fo' sure. |
Another last lesson, only this one was special. Divination was like the subject where Vickers and Louisa seemed to connect with each other in the most. Even before they started going out, working together on the class activities and homework. And it was the last time Louisa was going to sit in this chair and listen to Elwood explaining and trying to open the students' inner eye. It However the Ravenclaw was sick of the tragedy and drama this term, Max and she promised to make the best of this term. Walking into the usual cozy classroom, she flashed a smile at the professor at her desk. "Hello professor." And on she went to claim one of the chairs, saving the one at the same table for her boyfriend. It wouldn't be acceptable to partner with someone else in their last lesson. |
Dylan made his way up to Divination, more wary of attending classes now that Professors were being eaten...and animals were dying. Meh, the Slytherin wasn't a fan of death...or weird and crazy. Apparently, a little of all three had been happening within the school lately. He was leaving the moment anything cray cray happened. Personal safety...and whatnot. Coming in and taking a seat, the Captain seen that the blonde professor was already present and grinned at her. It was easier to be nice to female professors...and Bee wouldn't need to know details..."Good afternoon, Professor." |
SPOILER!!: Greetings Students! ^_^ Looking at the clock perched on the wall at the back of the lesson, the blonde saw that it was time to begin class. She stood up from her desk, shook her bangles back to her wrists and made her way to stand infront of the assembled students. "Good afternoon everyone. I just wanted to say a few things to those who are here enjoying their last Divination Lesson." Yes the seventh years. "It's been an honor and a priviledge teaching you guys and helping you prepare for your NEWTs at the end of the term. I know each of you will go on to do great things and I hope that you won't underestimate the power of Foresight." She looked at Vickers, Kurumi, Louisa, Gideon, (Max if he were there) and all the other seventh years in the room and placed her hand over her heart, a saddened expression crossing over her face. She wasn't going to cry, that would just be overkill. "To the rest of you, I hope you continue to grow in your studies and to see you all next term." That was end of the speeches for the day. "Now its time to move on with the lesson--" "Yes, can we move ON with it already!?" A random voice sounded from a corner of the room behind the Professor's desk. Callie eyed the corner and then grinned at the class before taking a step towards the board and writing one word on it: 'Oculomancy'. "Does anyone know what this is? Take note of the change in spelling from the more well known Occlumency." Although they were a tad similar. OOC: The lesson has now BEGUN, please do not post your charrie just arriving, pretend you have been here already. |
Foresight. Right. IF the woman really had that and believed in the power of it and so on...shouldn't she be able to see that Kurumi just...wasn't into the subject? She ventured a glance towards her best friend and tried not to roll her eyes too obviously. She wasn't rude after all, just disenchanted. Kurumi's hand went up anyway - despite thinking she would just sit through this lesson and not say anything. She actually sort of...enjoyed this particular form because it wasn't reeeeeeeally specific to Divination. Her and Lewis communicated with their eyes all the time. It was actually what had gotten them through their roughest patch last term. The things their eyes had said to one another. "It's a form of divination where you read the eyes of another. Interpret the reflections you see there. Sort of Divination's way of turning the phrase 'eyes are the window to the soul' only in this case it is scrying." Instead of windows...or something. And...what had that voice been?! o_______________O |
Text Cut: DanialRadFAN01 Sierra tuned out the first part of the professor's announcement. It was only directed toward the seventh years, which didn't exactly include her. Wait, though. She was a sixth year, which meant she'd be a seventh year next term. OH, MY MERLIN! Was she really graduating in a little over a year?! NOOO. She just...no. MERLIN! She hadn't ever thought about the world outside living at home with mom and dad. She blinked and then tuned back in. ...just in time to hear some weird voice speak up. It was coming from...behind the desk. "Professor?" she asked, raising her hand. "Who else was that speaking?" Yeah. She didn't bite her tongue for anything. "There was a second voice coming from behind your desk." There were professors being eaten around here, and yeah...Sierra just wanted to check and make sure there wasn't a little something extra lurking in the corners. ...but anyway. "In answer to your question, though, Oculomancy is when you look into a person's eyes and use the reflections you see to come up with a reading," she said. |
SPOILER!!: Louisa <333 Just when the Professor finished addressing the Head Girl and turned to address another student, Vickers managed to slip in oh so quietly and slid into the vacant seat. He grinned at Louisa and reached out for her hand under the desk and gave it a slight squeeze. Yes he was here. He wasnt missing this class even if a herd of hippogriffs raged through here.... SPOILER!!: Callie! T___T And he fell silent when the blonde Seer gave what he felt was a heartfelt send off to his graduating year. A pensive smile tugged at the corner of his lips, his eyes shone in gratitude-- she alone knew how much this subject meant to him, how it guided him to where he was today. Yes Divination works people, you just need to be specially attuned to its gifts.... When the Professor asked her question Vickers made to raise his hand before hastily taking it back. Yeah he thought it was about Occlumancy, but the Seer made it clear that Oculomancy was something else... So what was it? Surprising (or not) Vickers didnt know, but he listened to the Prefects explain what it was and his gaze shifted immediately to the Head Girl, a subtle grin playing on his lips. Would they be spending the rest of this class gazing into each others' eyes then? CAN THEY HAVE THIS FOR THEIR NEWTS? --ahem-- |
Sarah raised her hand, "is it not reading another person's minds?" she asked. Sarah did not want to know if she knew what others were thinking - would it be nice or horrible? She did not know although she would like to experience it. Although she did not want others to read her thoughts - if people would know what the inner Sarah is like... |
