The chill November air was definately hanging around the Divination Tower but once you ascended the ladder into the classroom the heat from the firegrate, being trapped in the room with the window-coverings, assured you this class was definately going to be a stifling one. The room was dark, apart from a few candles here and there so watch your step as you find you way to a table.
Professor Elwood was no where to be seen but you can bet she will be there soon so there had better be no funny business, besides her parrot, Galileo was there watching.
OCC: Come on in and take a seat. The lesson won't start for a while so there's plenty of time to post. Prof. Elwood doesn't appear to be there yet but don't try anything, Prefects will be in charge until she shows up. Enjoy.
Did he mishear or did the lovely Professor sound a little panicky about that brooch? So very concerned was she? What was the big deal about that brooch anyhow?
Maybe because he was a dude and just couldnt see what the big deal was about little trinkets, unless of course it was a trinket of sentimental value...
Now they were given the go signal to start moving around he looked to Louisa and nudged his head. Partners yeah?
Although its plenty awkward to have the Head Girl intrepret his dream given that she's in it. Maybe he'll mention a different dream instead.
He stood up and started lining the chairs side by side for them to lay in. Because seriously lying down on the floor wasnt an option if he could help it. And from all his shuffling with the seats, he hasnt seen anything that could remotely resemble a brooch "Maybe it isnt even here..." he mumbled.
"So, do you want to go ahead with the dream telling or should I?" he murmured to Louisa. She's been having nightmares and he has been quite concerned with how that have been affecting her psyche even if in all outward appearances she seems to be carrying on pretty well. Maybe talking about it would lessen the trauma?
Louisa nodded at him when he inclined his head, and her gaze went to Elwood as Vickers looked under their table. The professor did look slightly shaken or surprised (?) by the brooch-hunting. The Ravenclaw couldn't understand why was that but she made a mental note to bring it up when she visits Callie in her office. Maybe after class they could talk and bond again.
...."Mhmm?" She snapped to Vickers murmuring something. Oh, the brooch isn't here. "Yeah, I can't find a reason for Truebridge to come all the way up here." She took a glance under the table too confirming what Vickers said, "Unless they think someone stole it." It wasn't a stretch you know with a thousands of students who are ready to pull a stunt on the headmistress just to have fun. Or sell it if it's worth a fortune and not a fake accessory. Either ways, Louisa wasn't really interested in this. It was just a brooch. Get over it.
Moving on.
Dream interpretation. Right. She cursed herself for fishing out 'Hair' out of that book because now she had to share THE dream slash nightmare, maybe not publicly but who knows who's eavesdropping? Or what will happen when she lies down on those chairs and tries to actually remember it? Louisa kept her thoughts inside and nodded, a bit curtly. She sat on the chair at the edge and carefully stretched to the other two chairs.
Close your eyes and try to remember, she obeyed the voice in her head and folded her hands on her stomach dramatically, taking the positing of a lying mummy.
….
…
..
.
"Foggy atmosphere..." She started talking, the dream was starting to feel vivid, her mouth going slightly dry. "…and I'm running. Through some kind of a maze. Faceless people all over the place." She didn't have to tell the complete dream, did she? Louisa opened her eyes and stared up at the ceiling. "Then he's cutting more of my hair," so much more it makes her look like a freak making her wake up with a start. She turned her head to the side and looked at Vickers, "That's enough, I guess." Fog, running, maze, and hair.
Laura looked around, she hated these sort of tasks because no one ever wanted to be her partner because they always though she would get them into trouble or that is what Laura thought anyway, she had no idea what to do or who to ask so she just sat in her seat waiting to see if anyone was brave enough to come to her.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
"If it didn't fall off, it means you will know of a friend's troubles but won't be able to help them,'' Jory said to the girl. "But this one only means that if you made another attempt to close it.'' He didn't like the door's meaning one bit but maybe she only dreamt of it once?
He consulted Kurumi's parchment once again. Strawberry. "Strawberries represent favorable advancement and pleasure,'' the badger read aloud. ''So, you will finally have an object you wanted for while.'' He grinned. "Hope it arrives soon.''
Lollipop was the next symbol on the list. "Uh... lollipop isn't listed in the dictionary,'' he said. So he supposed he would move on to the next symbol.

Well, It seemed that they had to pick partners now and do stuff. Still wet, Nigel got up and looked around. It seemed that some people had already choosen their partners. Nigel then spots Laura at her desk just sitting there. He wondered if she had a partner. Well, why not ask. Nigel walks around to her and asks
"Hey Laura, You want to be partners?"

He nodded. "I can't remember mine right now, either,'' he said as he looked at parchment Kurumi had handed him. He had recalled it briefly when he awoke this morning though.
"Ready?'' the Puff asked when Kurumi had lie down. "Do you remember what you were doing with any of these things?'' he asked as he flipped to the D section of the text. He would start with the door.
"Right,'' Jory began when he found the paragraph on the door's interpretation. "The door represents enemies who you are trying to escape from.'' He looked at the prefect and wondered why anyone would want her as an enemy. Looking back at the text, he asked "Did the door fall of of its hinges when you locked it?''
Kurumi sort of wiggled on the ground as Jory spoke...and she already knew that he wasn't looking at the right bit of the book with the door bit. "Um...no..." she replied, chewing on her lip nervously. "I was...holding a key...and I locked the door...it wasn't off its hinges at all..." Her cheeks rose in color quite a bit, but thankfully the darkness of the classroom hid this from him. Hopefully. "I...didn't walk through it or anything...the first thing I can really recall is just...locking it..."
Cue some more awkward wiggling on the floor by the Gryffindor.
As to what she was doing with the items...that was an entirely different story. She just remembered a room...with a table and two chairs...maybe there had been a bowl of strawberries on the table...

But before she could respond to Jory with more details he had moved on to interpreting more of the images from her dream. "There was a bowl of strawberries...I think..." Kurumi also just really liked strawberries, so it really was no wonder that she was dreaming about them. They were one of her favorite things. "I may have eaten one...or several...but I really don't remember..." It obviously wasn't the most exciting of dreams. As to something she has been wanting for a while... "There is something that I am waiting for...but I haven't been waiting very long. I have to wait until the beginning of February for it to come really." University results.
No lollipops? "What about candy? Or sweets?" Because sometimes you had to go the more abstract route with this already abstract subject. "There was a giant one...sitting across from me at the table...where the strawberries were..."
Had the lollipop eaten a strawberry? Not that having a giant lollipop sitting with you at a table wasn't weird enough on its own.
"Or...wait...there were strawberries and....strawberry lollipops...I was eating one of those..."

Jory noticed Kurumi fidgeting on the floor. "Are you okay?'' he asked concerned. Giant strawberry sitting opposite her, he didn't find that weird at all. He had crazy dreams like that a lot. "Okay, I hope that works out in your favour.'' He was referring to the thing she was waiting for.
"Either way with respect to the locking of the door, it means that a friend is in trouble.'' He now paid some more attention to the strawberries. "It says here, if you eat the strawberry it denotes requited love.'' She had a boyfriend, right? He was thankful the classroom wasn't that lighted because he wasn't very comfortable discussing anything lovey dovey. Except maybe with Ari.
The badger took the suggestion and flipped through the book to look for candy. "Eating candy represents social pleasures,'' he read. "So, you'll have a rather enjoyable time the next time you're out with family or friends.''
Ariana jotted down key words as Elliot talked of her dream.. thousands of her and tea leaves... was this girl on something like really? this was just silly. she looked up at her "War." you know cause that was a big deal there was hundreds and hundreds of HER around fighting off tea leaves.... this was a tragedy for the world in more then one sense. She flipped open her book to the word war and she read aloud to her "To dream of war, foretells unfortunate conditions in business, and much disorder and strife in domestic affairs. For a young woman to dream that her lover goes to war, denotes that she will hear of something detrimental to her lover's character. To dream that your country is defeated in war, is a sign that it will suffer revolution of a business and political nature. Personal interest will sustain a blow either way. If of victory you dream, there will be brisk activity along business lines, and domesticity will be harmonious."she sighed and looked at her. I assume the last sentence would suffice since you did win the war with the tea leaves, No?" she looked at her for conformation and she should probally write all this down if the ravenclaw knew what was best
Elliot sat up a little....she was right. "Wow, look at that, Ariana, you are smart!" she said, as if she had been thinking otherwise just a second ago..well...AHEM she had!
Listenlistenlisten. She took the quill from behind her ear and waited..."I think the last one works the best." Uh huh. She scribbled down"

She looked up at the brunette...and opened her book...hmm. She grumbled to herself and muttered, "THey only have tea...no tea leaves.." well it wasn't jUUUUST tea, stupid book! It was tea LEAVES! Hmph. And none of the occurences in the book went with her dream..."The one that goes the best with my dream is: TO dream you are thirsty for tea--yeah, I guess I WAS thirsty...hmph--denotes that you will surprised with uninvited guests." She raised an eyebrow. What? NO! She didn't want an uninvited guest...URGH.
She wrote down that part...stupid. THis class had to be...BOLOGNA!!

"Um....yes?" Kurumi sort of asked rather than stated. She really wasn't about to voice these thoughts out loud...not with what she had read about locking a door meaning at least. The M word...was something she just refused to think about. She was only 17 for crying out loud! "I hope so too..." Because she was sort of putting all her dragon eggs in one basket with this early action. February...beginning of February...
Kurumi simply bit her lip at the friend in trouble comment. That was one way to interpret that part of her dream...just depended on where the emphasis was placed - the key or the door. As for a friend in trouble...Selina's mind was in trouble, more so than usual. "Requited love..." Kurumi trailed off, cheeks flushing even more now. She already knew that though. Had known for a while now...or was this meaning that she was thinking about it even in her subconscious? Not that that was really surprising either. "So...I am thinking about Lewis..." And locking that door....
*GULP*
Kurumi sort of just nodded at the next bit. Vague. Obvious. Nothing really concrete and she had to literally bite her tongue from saying something along the lines of she always had fun when she was out with friends...but refrained from doing so. "So...so far we have...I am waiting for something to come...I love Lewis and he loves me...and I will have fun the next time I go out with people..."
Can we say...duh? Ruddy subject.

Jory couldn't see Kurumi very well, but she sounded lost in thought so he decided to leave her for sometime. He adjusted himself as he was sitting cross legged by her side. Divination can be such a depression subject sometimes, but still it fascinated him very much.
Oh yeah, Lewis was the name of her boyfriend. "Do you suppose Lewis is in some kind of trouble?'' the boy as hesitantly. He didn't want to upset the Lion...
As Kurumi began to interpret her own dreams, Jory exclaimed jokingly "Hey, that's my job.'' No matter though, he was going to say almost the same thing.
So, moving on. Cats. "Cats represent ill luck,'' he read and his voice went quieter at each word. More depressing stuff. "But that's if it isn't killed or driven away.'' So there was hope. "Did you banish it or anything?''
The final symbol. Obviously there would be no dragon stuffed animal. So Jory began to look for stuffed animals or toys. "Toys represents family joys.''
"So, You're waiting for something,'' he began. "You and Lewis love each other. You'll have an enjoyable time with family or friends.'' He hesitated at the cat part. "If you didn't banish or killed that cat you will have bad luck... but on the bright side you'll experience family joys.'' He really hope the cat didn't mean bad luck for the prefect.

Lewis....in trouble?
"Um...not that I know of..." she said, blinking in confusion for a moment. Unless he wasn't telling her something. Or maybe he was in trouble in the sense that he wasn't sure what to do after Hogwarts. It had mostly been her talking about university, which was rather selfish of her now that she got to thinking about it.
Kurumi laughed softly. "Right, shutting up." Although she very well might go back and read up on these symbols herself after the lesson. NOT that she was interested in the subject at all. It would be more to appease her curiosity.
"Nope...it was actually my cat, well...kneazle...and he was sitting on my lap purring." Of course. Animals were always some sort of bad news in dreams. Whatever. She knew her pet wasn't a bad omen.
Pondering all this for a moment, Kurumi tuned back in just as Jory was going over the entire meaning of her dream - or whatever bits of it she had recalled. Sitting up now, Kurumi couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "Banish of kill a cat? Right...like I am the sort of person to dream about something that cruel," she scoffed slightly. And THAT was supposed to represent good luck? Killing a creature. Yep, Divination was rubbish. "I may have shooed my cat away because he was pawing at one of my strawberries." Did that mean that Walnut was trying to get between her and her requited love? Heh, sounded like something crazy enough for this subject to think up.
Vague vague and more vague.
"Um...thanks Jory," Kurumi said with a small bow of the head. He was done with her reading, right? "Do you remember anything about your dream?" Aka, it was his turn to lie down on the ground.

Cardigan was pretty lazy.
She didn't feel like walking around and just asking people "Hey, do you have a partner?". She'd just walk up to them when they asked out loud if anyoned needed a partner. Some would call that anti-socialism... Kinda makes sense, doesn't it?
She stood still for a moment, just twiddling her thumbs. It got quite boring sometimes, just standing and waiting. Of course, she would know that. After a little bit of no calls, someone, FINALLY, asked for a partner, which Cardigan immediately went over and answered to. "I'll be your partner," She said, knodding slightly. "I'm Cardigan Johansson. And you are?

Minerva couldn't help but smirk to herself when she heard Richard getting into trouble for being so rude to poor Tinka. Who did he think he was anyway, always so full of himself.
Then she listened to the directions from the professor, interrupting their dreams, this sounded fun. She wondered what her dream would come up to meaning. Hmm she wondered, but then she got back from her thoughts and looked around the room. Oh, yes a partner.. guess she needed to find someone to work with her. Looking around, "Anyone need a partner yet?" she asked hoping someone might.

It was crazy right...the first choice.."Wait, let me see that," she grabbed Ariana's book from her hand, her blue eyes furiuosly scanning the page...FORESTS: she found it. "The first part, for sure. With the family problems," she nodded, her face suddenly very hard. "Weird." And it had been a dense forest...and it just seemed to all fit.
Wah.
She didn't her family life could get any worse...this was great...well, she didn't HAVE to put much store to this...who said this was all correct, anyways? But...well....it was all too right. She wrote own the last bit about the forests...great. GREAT.
WAHHHH!
So her notes looked like:
Quote:
Idea #1: War=victory=brisk activity along business lines, domesticity-harmonious.
Idea #2: Thirsty for tea(giant tea leaves)=denotes that you will be surprised with uninvited guests.
Idea #3: Dense Forest: denotes loss in trade, unhappy home influences and quarrels among families.
And hey...number one and three totally were contradictory...hmm..this confused Elliot..she furrowed her eyebrows...and shot Ariana a puzzled look.
Looking a bit thrown off, she sighed. "Okay..want me to start my second dream?"
Without waiting for her to say yes, she lay back down and closed her eyes. "I was upstairs, in my room. I heard yelling from downstairs...and heard my parents yelling at each other.." Ha! As if. HEr mother was too scared to yell at her father. "SO I rushed downstairs to see another woman in there, too. I was five in the dream...I don't know why. But there was this fire, and then we all ran out, but the lady with my father did some fancy spellwork and stuck my mother to the ground. So she...died." Yeah. Elliot opened her eyes. She didn't nearly as disturbed as she should have been. Hmph. "That one wasn't as fun." No. Plus the other woman seemed very familiar, and Elliot knew exactly who she was. And it did NOT make her happy that the stupid woman made it into her dream...though Elliot did not think she was likely to forget her father's mistress that easily.

Laura was just sat thinking about something when someone spoke to her. "Nigel." Laura smiled. "I'd love to be your partner." Laura was glad there was at least someone who wasn't scared of her and she was actually growing quite fond of her younger friend.
It seemed that Laura was thinking long and hard about something. Nigel did not really care and if she wanted to talk about it, she would. Nigel took another seat and brought it over to Laura. No need to make her move. Nigel was already over here. Nigel sat down and talked to Laura.
"I guess i will talk about the dream i just had before i was awoken with water."
Nigel could not remember the dream he had last night. So this is the best he could do. He closed his eyes and retold his dream.
"It was a Badger and a Eagle killing a Sea Monster"

"It was a Badger and a Eagle killing a Sea Monster"
Laura looked at Nigel and smiled, she decided that she would do this one at a time. "Well a Badger means that you finally have luck after battles with hardships." Laura blushed for no apparent reason. "So basically you have been having some bad luck maybe with work or with a girl and that is about to change." Laura had no idea what that meant but well Nigel might know.

Nigel wondered why Laura was blushing. Nigel had to think about the first thing in his dream. He did not even think his dream even had that much meaning. He just thought the Badger was Elijah. Well maybe Laura was right. Nigel had no idea.
Hmm. Maybe its had to do with me breaking my arm in charms."
Nigel thought out loud. He then motioned Laura to continue.

Laura thought that would be a great idea. "I haven't got any idea what seeing one killing a sea-moster means since there isn't anything for sea-moster." Laura sighed, why was that the case a good one like that not being in the book.

"No, I didn't mean you would kill an animal,'' Jory muttered going a bit red bwith embarrassment. "I was just saying what I read. And speaking in general.'' Not even he would ever think about harming an animal much less kill it.
"You're most welcome,'' the badger said cheerfully as he closed his text book. "Actually, I have. I started to remember as I was looking up your symbols in the text.'' He had seen the word locket and everything started coming back bit by bit.
"My turn to lie down.'' This was awkward. He lay on his back and linked his fingers behind his head. "Okay, so I dreamt I was floating with the clouds,'' Jory began and thinking how silly that sounded. "There was jazz music in the background.'' He wasn't a fan of jazz music one bit. "As I was floating, I noticed a heart shaped locket on a purple pillow a good distance from where I was. I tried to go after it but I couldn't move an inch.'' Yup, the lockett and pillow both stayed the distance away fom him.
He looked at Kurumi. "So the symbols would be cloud, music, pillow and locket, right?''

Ella looked around her desk, picking up her bag just in case. It was quite dark in the room but even with the lack of light, she was sure that there was no brooch near her. She shrugged, eyeing the poor worried house elf with a frown before looking back up at the Professor.
Right, so they would be sharing dreams with a partner? Ella looked around, noting that lots of her classmates had already partnered up. Meep. That wasn't good. The third year stood up and looked around, deciding it was best to just see if anyone else was left partnerless. "I um...Anyone still need a partner?" Pretty please with a cherry on top?

...."Mhmm?" She snapped to Vickers murmuring something.

Vickers guided Louisa as she lay across the seats and settled down, then pulled up a chair for himself, their textbook and parchment across his lap. He scribbled down his notes as Louisa murmured what she can recall. It sounded scary, running aimlessly with impaired vision, then someone taking a hack at your head-- even if it was hair and not the scalp itself, was enough to give Vickers a bit of a shudder.
He nodded his head and murmured "Yeah we can work with that..." he replied as he held out his arm to help Louisa into a sitting position, then opened the textbook with the meaning to certain key words.

He read the first word-- fog. And that kinda got his jaw to drop.
He shifted his gaze to the Head Girl and read this part aloud "For a young woman to dream of being in a fog, denotes that she will be mixed up in a salacious scandal, but if she gets out of the fog she will prove her innocence and regain her social standing." Glancing at Louisa he murmured "Some of these may have happened already--" at the least the scandal part he's thinking "-- or maybe there will be a new one coming. I dont know. Do you ever recall getting out of the fog?"
