Default Divination Lesson One (Dream Divination)

Divination Lesson One

The chill November air was definately hanging around the Divination Tower but once you ascended the ladder into the classroom the heat from the firegrate, being trapped in the room with the window-coverings, assured you this class was definately going to be a stifling one. The room was dark, apart from a few candles here and there so watch your step as you find you way to a table.

Professor Elwood was no where to be seen but you can bet she will be there soon so there had better be no funny business, besides her parrot, Galileo was there watching.

OCC: Come on in and take a seat. The lesson won't start for a while so there's plenty of time to post. Prof. Elwood doesn't appear to be there yet but don't try anything, Prefects will be in charge until she shows up. Enjoy.

Kurumi was sort of idly flipping through her textbook, seeing if she could catch up with peopl's descriptions when they were telling them to the class. Blah blah blah... it was all sort of in one ear and out the other as it were. This was all speculation anyway...even if Kurumi was sort of taking her key analysis to heart a bit too much.

No, Treyen would kill her if she kept thinking on that. Not until she was 30...although she had already broken one of his 'not until you're 30' guidelines.

AND DIVINATION JUST GOT WAY MORE INTERESTING!

Kurumi had sort of been all starry eyed when Tinka had first made her appearance, so much that she had sort of just been looking at the house elf and not really registering what she was asking...at least not until she went up to Professor Elwood to ask the woman more directly.

Wasn't Professor Elwood a Seer? Couldn't she just SEE where the Headmistress' broach was?

No, Kurumi knew that wasn't how it worked...at least not with her best friend. Kurumi thrust her hand up in the air. "I'll help Tinka look!" Because HOW could the woman deny Tinka!? She was just adorable and lovely and so kind. She did so much for Hogwarts, it was the LEAST they could do to help her look for a few minutes.

Not like they were doing anything productive anyway.

"Yes, the things you all said about the REM cycle and the sleep associated with it are correct." She flicked her wand at the board, listing some of the things they mentioned.

The blonde Professor turned back to the students to add to what they all said. "The REM cycle, is all of the things you all said but also more. We know very little about it technically but that is why it is so fascinating. We haven't found any actual scientific reason why humans sleep and how come we are more rested after experiencing this deep sleep during the REM cycle." She let that little bit of info sink in as she straightened a wrinkle in her skirt. "The subconscious is a very powerful thing and since human beings can't even harness the full potential of their brains it is no wonder that we are capable of REM and dreams."

"But back to actual dreams in Divination now that we know where they occur," because you couldn't study Egyptians and all of their culture, curses, pyramids and the like without at least touching on the country itself--same with dreams and the brain. "Like you all said before we are going to be using individual aspects from our dreams in order to interpret what exactly they may hold in store for us. So," she stood and walked over to a cabinet which upon opening it, revealed Dream Oracle books. She levitated a copy to each of them.

"Please open your books to the section that defines individual aspects of dreams and we can have a little bit of fun before starting the day's ativity." Yes, for Divination nerds like Callie Elwood, this would be VERY fun. "What I want each of you to do is to randomly find an object or action listed in this section and then raise your hand and tell the class what it is and what it's implications upon being found in a dream are."

Sierra cracked open her textbook and began browsing through the pages, looking for something random she could talk about. There were people answering left and right, which was slightly distracting, and of course the Slytherin prefect frowned. She sighed softly and tried to block out the noise around her.

...then finally--"There's quicksand," she said, not realizing her brother had said the exact same thing. "There's different ways it can appear in your dreams, though. If you get stuck in it, your future's going to be full of bad luck. If you get completely buried in it, that means your bad luck will overcome you, and you'll feel in over your head."

Then there was all that talk about faithful husbands and such, and she may have summarized it, too, but...

So Elise opened her textbook and opened to the chapter indicated by Professor Elwood. Teapots. Oooooh!

"Teapots mean sudden news that will likely distress you,"
she grinned. Ooooh, there was a song about teapots, right? "I'm a little teapot, short and stout. Here is my haaaaaandle and here is my spout."

What just came over her? Blushing, Elise sat back down. Nothing happened, nope. Nothing strange here. Look away, please. Thank you. Let's all just pretend Elise hadn't done that.

...this happened. *bliiiiiiink*

That. Was. Random. She eyed the Ravenclaw, wondering if the girl had gone mad or was just that weird. She eyed the professor out of the corner of her eye. Would Ellwood even think this was out of line? At all?

Something told Sierra the answer to that question was no.

----------

Especially considering there was now a house elf in class going on about a missing brooch. Ohh. She'd seen that brooch. It's been on the Headmistress when she'd seen it, though, so she guessed that was before it went missing.

She sighed. Who cared about a brooch? Now galleons... Notify Sierra when they were missing.

What in the world was Anya doing crouching beneath the table? Tag looked a little more closely at her and saw that her eyes were slightly big and she looked panicky. Then Tag realized why she was hiding. There was Tinka-again-even Tag had freaked out seeing Tinka in the common room-even if Anya hadn't been there. They weren't good news anymore.

Looking at the elf momentarily Tag then returned his attention back to Anya. "Anya, I know you don't like her-and neither do I-but I won't let them hurt you or cause any trouble to you." He said in a reassuring whisper. "If they come near by I'll take the hit for you."

He nodded his head and smiled down at the elf as she said those last words and listened to the other students as they were asking their parts to the elf. He then watched as she went to the Professor and continued to listen, this was far more interesting than so called dreams!

"Elf?!" he called again as an idea popped up in his mind. He wasn't sure if it was helpful but it was worth a try right? "Has the Headmistress tried to use the Accio spell before?" he asked and cocked his head to the side a little as he stared at the creature.

Her elfsy eyes snapped onto the Slytherin boy she'd first talked to up here. Sir FIND BROOCHIE?!?! But no. Her ears drooped slightly, not stopping their erratic twitch. Blink. Blink. "Tinka no know, Tinka no know what dat mean." Elvsies don't know wizard spells!

"There are a lot of places where this brooch could be... have you tried checking in that large bowl full of different stones we used for Lithomancy?" A brooch can easily be misplaced there.

Then a Ravenclaw was getting her attention. She ran towards him, desperate for a clue to the missing broochie's whereabouts. "But miss and sirs no need try if Professor no say, Tinka look for broochie." All the same, the elf cast a pleading look in Elwood's direction.

Louisa knew it was Vickers' way of showing that he's here for her and he probably figured this hair interpretation out himself, so she gave him a reassuring smile and nod. He didn't have to worry, she was getting used to that memory now, she just wanted it to fade away like the happy moments fade days after occurring. But no, this one was stuck like a stamp.

POP! Tinka suddenly appeared in the classroom and started fussing over... the headmistress' brooch? Oh. Louisa thought something MATTERS happened. She stayed in her seat, nonchalant. Why exactly should they fuss about anyone's belongings? If the headmistress was clumsy to lose her brooch, then SHE should be looking for it or just forgetting about it. That's how Louisa's mom deals with her daughter when something gets lost. Very logical.

The Ravenclaw looked over to Elwood when poor worried Tinka asked the professor to let the students help with this brooch-hunting.

Richard stirred a bit when he saw the dream book. Eh...maybe it could be interesting, right? He had to give it a chance as he was already in the class and, of course, he had to show everyone how he was better than them at anything even at a subject he was not really feeling interested. Ignoring everyone around him and their loud comments about things in dreams, the Slytherin boy opened the book and started to eye the writings in it. Hmmm...not bad, yeah, almost interesting. He had to admit that he read some of the parts out of mere curiosity.

Like the part of being offended in a dream. Well...to be honest he could remember a dream like that and it had bothered him a lot. His mouth hung open for a moment as he read the meaning, apparently surprised. Well...well...well. Now that was...a good start, right?

''Professor...'' then he said after raising his hand ''Here's something about offense, being offended in a dream. It says that it means there might be errors in your ways and it would be causing inward rage while attempting to justify yourself. I suppose this is like doing something you regret and being angry at yourself for it. Did i understand that right?''

And mention being offended...Richard's expression changed completely into a very annoyed one when he realised the house elf in the class. Was not it the same one that was in the common room? Annoying creature. Did it have to be just everywhere?! Now his good mood was all gone and his gray eyed casted the elf an intense glare. ''Filthy creature!'' he spat then as it was hard for him not to say something insulting. ''Why don't you get lost?!''

Still scurrying around the room in search for the missing artifact, Tinka heard a loud voice that hurt her withered elfsy ears. "Oh, Tinka sorry sir!" she said in a small voice before getting hit by something wet on the side of her head. She reacted quickly, shaking her head vigorously, which sent the spit flying in all direction in tiny droplets. "Tinka so sorry, Tinka clean self when Missus have broochie back!" But the second part she couldn't do. "No no no, Tinka no leave til Tinka look everywhere in room! Headmissus' orders!"

Aw. Abby blushed bright red with pleasure. She loved compliments and this elf made her feel so special.. and all she said was she'd be willing to help the creature. "Thank you, Tinka. You're very nice." Heh. Abby had always liked house elves especially the ones she'd met at Hogwarts. They were all so.. adorable really. One of the very few things she loved about this school.

Really? Abby's eyes flashed towards the boy who was being such a jerk to poor Tinka. "Hey, could you just shut up?" Yeah.. she didn't like people being rude to the poor creatures. Tinka was only here because of the Headmistress, right? "Tinka, just.. ignore him." UGH. She was always rude to people but house elves.. they were such harmless creatures.

Cassia smiled at the nice house-elf who once promised to give Cassia everything she wanted to in the kitchen. And Cassia appreciates those offers A LOT! And she was looking for the headmistress's brooch? Cassia remembered that when she was at the kitchen the headmistress were there asking house-elves about it. What an organized headmistress, huh?

"Hey Tinka. Don't you worry we'll help you find it." Cassia said kindly. Oh but it was a lesson. "Once Professor Elwood let us." She added. "And we could even help you look after class." Yup Cassia wouldn't mind wandering around the castle. "But why would the brooch be here? The headmistress never came here, did she?" She wondered to herself more than to the little creature.

Elfsy ears perked up. Hands grasped behind her back, she rocked back and forth. "Oh, Tinka just say what true, miss!" But miss be nice again! "Sir not like elvsies because elvsies no do good work for him, maybe." She hung her head in disappointment.

"What I want each of you to do is to randomly find an object or action listed in this section and then raise your hand and tell the class what it is and what it's implications upon being found in a dream are."
Nerida flipped open the Divination book to the dream section. After the Professor finished she began to read the section flipping to the P's randomly she saw the word peacock. Smiling she began to read the meaning when it was in a dream. Once she was done reading what it meant she raised her hand and said "When a person dreams of a peacock there lies below the ebb flow a stream of pleasure and riches, the slums of sorrow and failure, which threaten to mix with its clearness at the least disturbing influence."

Turning around to see a house elf, Nerida listened as she went around. Picking up that she her name was Tinka. "Tinka, is Broochie a person or being?Or no..." She was confused some people had said brooch and others said Broochie.

Awww! It was sad to see her like that. He never got why people used House elves. Yes, it was handy when things got lost but...wouldn't it be better if the person aka the Headmistress herself went to look for her stuff at first instead of troubling an elf. Buuuut that where just his own thoughts yet he wasn't going to voice them out loud, maybe he would be labeled weird...

Tinka?...Oh! So her name was Tinka! Daichi had seen the creature a few times before but he was so bad at remembering names he had forgotten hers as well, no offence~ "Accio..is..." how was he going to explain that? " It's a spell that...will summon objects that someone has lost..i think.. or when the object is too far away and you can't reach it" And as he began to explain he had the feeling that the Headmistress might have tried that already though and he sighed. "Ah nevermind...can i call you Tinka as well?"

Pretty pleeeease?!

Wait... "How does that brooch even look like?" he asked with an raised eyebrow.

Callie felt as if her head was going to fall off of her shoulders after nodding at each student's correct reading of the dream item or event they had chosen but she was actually quite entertained by the little Ravenclaw's ambition and obvious excitement over the subject matter that it caused her to stand up and dance.

"That was quite nice Miss Fairfeild, thank you for that." She said after clapping her hands excitedly for a moment. Hopefully some of the other kids would do something like that.

Finally! They were gonna do something! Cassia straightened and started looking through the pages more closely. She liked having something to do other than listening. Hmm……. Stopping at a page, the second-year Snake shot her arm up in the air a bit too enthusiastically. "Professor!" She said. "I have chosen an Owl." She started automatically standing because you know she was short. NOT SO short but not so tall either. So standing was more comfortable for her.

"Ahem…To hear the solemn, unearthly sound of the muffled voice of the owl…" Cassia's voice immediately fell from its enthusiastic level "warns dreamers that d-d-death, "GULP. that doesn't sound good " That death creeps closely in the wake of health and joy……" Cassia swallowed hard at that. " Precaution should be taken that life is not ruthlessly exposed to his unyielding grasp. Bad tidings of the absent will surely follow this dream." Cassia felt the color drain out of her face. Why did she choose this section again? Oh and it wasn't over just yet. " Um… To see a dead owl, denotes a narrow escape from desperate illness or deathhh. " Le PAUSE "And to see an owl, foretells that you will be secretly maligned and be in danger from enemies." SILENCE.

Cassia kept staring at the words for a long minute before sitting down. Somehow she had imagined that the implications would be cheerful. Like you're gonna win ten thousands galleons! Or so many achievements are awaiting for you in the upcoming years!

The twelve-years old looked up at the Professor in widened eyes and tried to swallow the lump in her throat before managing to say." I don't want to dream anymore." It came out like a whisper actually.
Callie hadn't expected to see a child so worked up over the random answer they hadn't even dreamed about but she was kind rather than pointing that fact out. "Dear, there isn't a reason to get worked up unless you've dreamed of an owl recently."

And she left it at that, she tried to be kind at least--in her own way.

Tag continued with a much more intrigued scared face, his eyes growing bigger as he stared at his professor."How come everything for a letter seems so horrible?" Great now his mind was all over the place.
"The horribleness or the goodness of an interpretation varies with the reader, child. But it is rather common for dreams to be foretellers of bad more often than good." Something weird with the mond that tries to warn us, she guessed.

He sat on his seat, dripping, as the class discussed something to do with some letters and then Elwood instructed them to flick through their textbooks to find out the meaning of certain dreams. Unfortunately, Elijah couldn't find psycho or crazy lady in this not-so-wonderful dictionary. He did, however, find the word 'cow', which was as good a description as any. Raising his hand, he offered that as his answer and explained that, "It means you are likely to see some of your desires start to come true." Like Elwood 'falling' down the attic ladders, perhaps...

Oops, Headmistress Truebridge. I didn't see where I was going as I placed my hands on the Professor's back and shoved her down the steps...

Ahem. Focus.
Callie eyed Elijah before speaking.

"Good, Mr. Wilde. And I assume that having wet yourself in the middle of my lesson will keep you from falling alseep again?" She smirked at him and went back to answering the other students. She would have taken house points but it just seemed that this boy needed something more interesting and fun for her.

DUCKS~!

He searched with his finger through the D until his eyes landed on the word ducks and began to read. There was one thing that made him raise an eyebrow though so the Slytherin raised his hand and waited till he got his turn.

"Professor, i picked ducks because i love love love looooove them but...i have a question. I dreamed about flying ducks before! And this means that good fortune , marriage comes and children come....am i going to be a father!?" O_____o What was even more startling was that he now knew that Indiana liked him and he liked her. They weren't an official couple yet but there was something blooming.
Him, a father? O__O

"Oh no sweetie, that doesn't sound like the reading for you. Each item, word, or event in that dictionary gives meanings for multiple types of people. You wouldn't need to worry about that last part since you are still a very young man." She patted his head and made a face, yeah he was too young for that.

No papa and mama ducks.

She raised her hand and explained her findings to the class, "My word is raspberry and it says they mean you are in danger of en..entanglements," she cleared her throat, "which will prove interesting before you escape them." She raised an eyebrow and gave a look around the room. "How interesting exactly it doesn't say..." She scoffed slightly and added, "It also says if a woman eats them, it means distress over circumstantial evidence about that might cause some gossiping...or something." She sat her book back onto her desk and said, "Professor, are there very many good things that come from dream analysis? And are all the descriptions this sexist? I mean, men can gossip too!" She didn't understand why it couldn't just say gossip in general. She huffed a quick, frustrated exhale and sat back down.

It seemed to her that it was about a lot of serious worrying and not enough about enjoying your dreams. She still thought it was fun to read about and wanted to learn more, but she really hoped it'd get a bit less gloomy.
"Sexist? Dear, I think you are reading too far into the wording it is much like the idea of saying 'him' or 'his' when talking about things in other subjects. And like I mentioned to another student, oftentimes dream analysis does have bad connotations because the brain likes to warn us of incoming danger more so than rewards. A survival technique." She hoped the girl understood that she, a woman professor, wouldn't waste time teaching them a sexist subject.
SPOILER!!: Yes, points, POINTS!

Nigel then turns his attention back to the Professor. It seemed he missed the first question thinking about how he got wet. But he could now answer the second question. He opened up his book and turned to a random page and picked a word. Kangaroo. Well it was an awesome word.

Nigel raised his hand throwing water everywhere. "Professor, I chose Kangaroo. It means that i will outwit a wily enemy and if a kangaroo attacks me, my reputation will be in jeopardy." But if i kill one, i will succeed." Awesome!. Now Nigel wished his dream was about kangaroos instead of dragon.

Kurumi blushed at her own thoughts and stuffed her nose back in her textbook. The first few items she selected only made her blush MORE as they reminded her of certain events and feelings from the summer...so there was no way she was going to explain those.

So, it was back to flipping through her book to random page, closing her eyes, and pointing at something. "I picked a key," she said after raising her hand. "It means unexpected changes. Losing or lost keys in a dream mean unpleasant things will effect you and push you in one direction. Finding keys means positive things, mainly domestically and with business." There may have been a small blush there. "Broken keys represent separation of some kind. Keys being actively used in dreams, unlocking and locking doors, also have significance - especially when in the hands of a girl." Which was when Kurumi stopped talking and blushed like crazy since she had just had a dream where she had locked a door....

*BLUSH*

She was NOT ready to think about that sort of thing now. Not to mention Treyen told her not until she was 30.

At the Professor's prompt Vickers opens his textbook and starts leafing through the dream definitions, as he goes through the list of words he had vague connections to he was getting the strange feeling that a lot of them were rather... disappointing?... sad?..... morbid? A common trend with himself or with just this book in general?

Ok so the Professor said randomly. He closed the chapter, let the leaf edges run between his fingers and finally plopped that page open. Gosh would you look at that, he does dream of this often, although he has always thought it was because of something that happened to him as a toddler. He raised his hand as he replied "Professor, it says 'to dream that you sustain a fall, and are much frightened, denotes that you will undergo some great struggle, but will eventually rise to honor and wealth; but if you are injured in the fall, you will encounter hardships and loss of friends." In his dreams he wasnt frightened, if anything it was almost like flying, but his grown up brain knows now that wasnt the case. And yes indeed there were struggles (still are) but that it would be followed by rising to honor and wealth? Well.... he hopes so.

Beezus just hoped she wasn't going to fall asleep and practically carry out their topic. Professor Elwood elaborated what REM was, adding some information that the Ravenclaw quickly jotted down on her notes. Scribble. Scribble.

..and deja vu? That is when you experience an event and feel like you've gone through the same situation in the past right? She had those, sometimes. But since there wasn't anything the Professor could add to what they already know about it, Beezus decided to let the matter settled at that and didn't go in pursuit for questions.

When Dream Oracle books were handed over and they were asked to randomly select an object or action to share with the class along with its meaning, the fourth year's fingers flipped open the book. N. Her random selection landed on the entries that started with N, and to add more randomness to her already random choice, Beezus closed her eyes, allowed her point finger to run down the page and stopped when she felt like it. "Needle." The was where her finger was pointing.

Hand up, "Professor, I've got needle here. Actually, it has various corresponding meanings to how it appears in a dream. For instance, it states here that if one dreams of using a needle, it is a warning of approaching affliction, in which you will suffer keenly the loss of sympathy, which is rightfully yours. There's still more here." She only nodded, but didn't say anything more. Instead, she read the rest of the entry silently. To dream of threading a needle, denotes that you will be burdened with the care of others than your own household. To look for a needle, foretells useless worries. To find a needle, foretells that you will have friends who will appreciate you. To break one, signifies loneliness and poverty. Hmm. Hmm.

Raising her hand she started, "I have Hair." She turned her gaze down to her book, "It's very long and talks about all kinds of dreams that involve hair." Pause and throat clearing, "To dream of having your hair cut, denotes serious disappointments. For a woman to dream that her hair is falling out, and baldness is apparent, she will have to earn her own livelihood, as fortune has passed her by." This wasn't good news for the Ravenclaw. At. All. But she continued, "For man or woman to dream that they have hair of snowy whiteness, denotes that they will enjoy a pleasing and fortunate journey through life. For a man to caress the hair of a woman, shows he will enjoy the love and confidence of some worthy woman who will trust him despite the world's condemnation." Pause. So was it good or bad to dream of candies? Maybe it would better if it's not a sour one.

"It says to dream that you are abandoned, denotes that you will have difficulty in framing your plans for future success.

Interesting, he thought as green eyes scanned the paragraphs. Ethan raised his hand. "I chose Bridge," he began as his finger landed on the passage. The description was quite wordy so the boy chose to give the condensed version. "It says that if one dreams about a dilapidated bridge that winds into the darkness... then that person will experience profound dire circumstances and sadness over the loss of dearest possessions." Whoa... he hoped his dream wasn't foretelling that. The boy continued. "But if the dreamer crosses the bridge in safety, he will triumph over difficulty." That sounded much better, he guessed... well, certainly the victory part of it.

Once she read over the symbolism of dreaming about elephants, Ella raised her hand to share with the class. "Professor, I chose Elephant." Because why wouldn't you choose that? "If you dream of riding an elephant, that means you'll have wealth and honors. It also says you'll be kind of the boss in your business and in your home." Which was pretty cool, yeah? "If you dream of a lot of elephants, it means you'll have prosperity and dreaming of only one means you'll live small...but solid..." Whatever that meant. "Oh! And if you dream of feeding an elephant, it means you'll be looked up to because of your kindess." BEAM.

"I chose... Radish." Not for any particular reason, but he did like the interpretation as opposed to the other morbid ones. "To dream radishes growing, is an omen of good luck." There was a word he'd never said before.... Theo paused.

"But, if you eat them in your dream, you will suffer through the thoughtlessness of some one near to you." He read it perfectly from the textbook. He made a slight face afterwards. Ehh, the eating part wasn't that good. Theo would be just dreaming of regular old radishes tonight.

Yep.

Abby finally raised her hand, "Professor, I pick Paradise. If you dream that you are in Paradise, it means you'll have loyal friends who are willing to help you out. To.. um.. couples, it is the promise of wealth and faithfulness." YAY.

A house elf! Abby watched it with interest.. which slowly turned into boredom. REALLY? They were going to have to spend the rest of the class search for a brooch in a dark classroom? Although, she felt that looking for a brooch was WAY better than spending the rest of the class talking about dreams. Heh.

"I'm sure we can help you search.. if the Professor is okay with it." Abby really didn't want to get into any trouble with Elwood. She was sure her detentions would be.. weird. Just like her.

That. Was. Random. She eyed the Ravenclaw, wondering if the girl had gone mad or was just that weird. She eyed the professor out of the corner of her eye. Would Ellwood even think this was out of line? At all?

Something told Sierra the answer to that question was no.

"Excellent job everyone! See this dream oracle isn't hard or intimidating at all, is it?" Nope, Oneironomancy was really quite simple, that is why she chose it for their first lesson of the term to get them warmed up and back into school mode--to help prepare their minds for further trips into the Beyond.

To move on now. "With that little exercise out of the way we are now ready to move to---" Before Professor Elwood was able to finish telling the students what they were going to be doing next a commotion was breaking out in the far recesses of the room, and because of the dark lighting she couldn't tell what was happening.

CRASH. SCRAPE.

Tinka turned toward another Hufflepuff. Her ears kept twitching, but her gaze was blank and uncomprehending. "Tinka no have pocketses, sir." Her head was cocked to the side and she dismissed the boy as unhelpful in the search for the broochie.

Oh look at that, the Houself that visited them at their Common Room, who hated towers and height. And where is she again? In the highest tower in Hogwarts. Good job in picking assignments Tinka.

This Ravenclaw shuffled a bit in his seat as he looked around the dimly lit, crowded classroom "Its a little hard to look for something as small as a brooch in the middle of a darkened class Tinka..." he wasnt being a smarty pants, he was just stating the obvious. "There are a lot of places where this brooch could be... have you tried checking in that large bowl full of different stones we used for Lithomancy?" A brooch can easily be misplaced there.

Then a Ravenclaw was getting her attention. She ran towards him, desperate for a clue to the missing broochie's whereabouts. "But miss and sirs no need try if Professor no say, Tinka look for broochie." All the same, the elf cast a pleading look in Elwood's direction.

Unable to take such a noble request, elfsy eyes brimmed with tears. "Miss... Miss be so noble, so kind to poor Tinka!" A huge grin spread across the elf's features.

Wait. That be...? It was! "Missus Kurumi!" the elf squealed in delight. "Oh miss, so great, so good! Miss say she help Tinka look!" Where there had been glistening before now flowed copious tears of gratitude.

Tinka?...Oh! So her name was Tinka!

Was that a student running around in the dark flipping through all the parchment and squeeking like that?!

Callie stood up from her chair and lit her wand, sending a stream of light into the seated students but that was uncessisary for the creature had approached her after moving furniture and talking with the students. "Oh hello there....House Elf?" Professor Elwood had seen the little things at the Feast but had yet to run into one in person since then. The Divination Professor called for the class to quiet down while she tried to listen to the Elf.

"A brooch? The Headmistress's brooch?" Callie's face momentarily drained of color. Did Madam Truebridge send the House Elf up here to search her classroom because the woman thought she had stolen it?! HAD SHE FOUND OUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED WITH INDIGO?!

She had to leave at once....no, she couldn't do that. kfdfkldjf

Professor Elwood took a quick breath to try and calm herself before nodding at a few of the students saying to look for it. "Everyone please kindly look around your desk for the brooch but there will be no need to search the whole room, I shall do that once the lesson has ended." She turned back to the Elf, secretly wishing to go on with (although she couldn't believe herself) Elijah Wilde, in blaming the Elf for stealing it to get the blame off of her but she didn't. "Tinka, how about you head on back to the kitchens or search the corridors around here and in the Towers and I will have a student run the brooch to Mrs. Truebridge or I will if I find it later?"

Suddenly Callie heard a student call the little Elf a 'filthy creature'. She wasn't that at all! "Mr. Turner! I will not have you calling this helpful and sweet creature who is merely doing her job something so horrid. I want you to appologize to her right now. And I will be taking 5 points from Slytherin for your rudeness! You best hope she doesn't poison your food tonight." That last part would never happen but there was no reason she couldn't scare him for being mean.

Now to try and regain power in her classroom. "After you search the area around your desk for the Headmistress's brooch please find a partner and spread out around the room to begin our lesson's exercise." She patted Tinka on the head and hoped she would look for a minute or two more and then leave to look elsewhere. "What I want you all to do is take turns interpretting a recent dream you've had. The person who's dream you are interpretting first should lie down on the floor or in a chair and close their eyes to try and remember it better." That was why the room was so comfy and warm for a sleep-like (NOT SLEEP) state. "Please try to look up at least 3 symbols per dream, then switch places and do the same steps." And they were released.

Calista was going to need a Firewhiskey to calm her nerves over this brooch business.

OOC: So I need you to get in partners and do the activity with at least 5 posts per person for the whole activity (both dreams). So during the first person's dream interpretation you can use a post to retell the dream, and your partner can interpret their three symbols in 4 posts, and then when things swtich the first interpreter can use their last post to retell their dream and the first dream person can use four posts to interpret their partner's dream.

You will have roughly 48 hours to get this task done.

If there are any questions please PM or VM me.

5 points!? she looked back at Richard.. 'good job' she thought to herself. now it's just going to be harder to catch up and win the house cup. rolling her eyes more at miss dream teacher then richard, cause face it, it could lose all the points in the world but he'd still be hot okay... really hot. And that was alright in Ariana's book. but now she had to work harder.
She looked around.. "Partner?" She said aloud hoping she'd work with someone intresting

Kurumi was busy writing down more notes on her parchment, images and meanings that were applicable to her own recent dreams so she wouldn't have to look those up when the time came...when her attention was caught by Professor Looneywood. Wait... Elijah...did what?!

Kurumi's head snapped around and she looked at the Hufflepuff, her nose wrinkling slightly in anticipation of...a smell? Of something perhaps. Wet himself?!

Hopefully before he noticed, Kurumi's attention was back towards the professor and she covered her mouth to muffle a snort that was trying to get out. Nope...just coughing here. Nothing to see really. Kurumi even pretended to scribble down a few more notes on her parchment.

Isn't hard? Nope. Just ridiculous guesswork. Nothing hard about that. Kurumi could just make things up.

And then Kurumi's jaw dropped and her eyes widened. Holy chocolate chips! Had she misjudged this woman!? Kurumi didn't even see who it was that had insulted Tinka - not that it really mattered at the moment - and her attention was entirely on the Divination professor and how she had just stood up for the house elf AND taken points for insulting them.

Okay, professor, you just earned yourself some cookies and a visit by this Gryffindor to your office by this Gryffindor so that she could show her appreciation for this moment.

Kurumi ducked under her desk for a moment, taking a peek around to see if the broach was here...but assuming that it wasn't. She didn't really see the Headmistress coming around up here...

Unless...

"Um...has anyone spoken to the Bloody Baron about speaking to Peeves about the missing broach?" Kurumi asked, her question pointed mostly at the professor. She had heard that Toddles had been under suspicion, but wasn't sure if anything there had been conclusive.

And just WHY was the Headmistress so obsessed with this broach anyway?

Kurumi searched a little more, naturally finding nothing, and then sat back up in her seat. Was lying down REALLY necessary? Kurumi furrowed her brow for a moment and then returned her attention to her parchment. Okay...so she really did not remember her dream at all... but there were flashes of a few things that came to mind, so she might as well write those down for now before partnering up.

The badger began searching the are around his desk for the missing brooch but he found nothing.

Jory preferred to work on his own really, so he wasn't too happy about finding a partner. No one ever seemed to want to partner up with him. But obviously this lesson required one so he looked around for someone familiar.

And they had to lie down? He heard Kurumi asking about a partner, just then. "Me, if you don't mind,'' he said hopefully.

"Um...afraid I really don't remember my dream much at the moment...but I wrote a few things down..." she explained as she handed him her parchment. It was something to start with at least. He could always ask her questions about where the items were or what she was doing with them. Might spark her memory because at the moment the only real concrete image she had was of her locking a door to some room somewhere.

"I....guess I should lie down then..." Uber awkward, but whatever. Kurumi found a comfortable spot on the floor and laid there, folding her arms over her stomach. She felt like she was going to therapy or something.

Elliot tucked her own notebook under her arm, stuck her quill behind her ear..and followed Ariana. Hmm...she wondered how this will go. And she sure as heck hoped she didn't have to hear any stupid dreams about Rich. no no NO. Elliot might just die...why didn't think of that before she volunteered to go with the girl?!

Oops.

"Who wants to go first...okay? Me?" She assumed without asking...you know, Elliot SHOULD go first.

O__O

She didn't like the whole...laying on the floor thing...but she did anyways..and felt stupid..."Okaaaay. Ready for my first dream?" yeah? "It's not about Maxwell..I won't make you go through that," she opened one of her eyes and smirked...OKAY!

"Okay. So I was in the this forest....and we were all running, and by we, I meant...and army Me. Like there were thousands of these really pretty blonde people and at first I didn't know who they were, then I realized they were all me! Okay.." she laughed at herself...what a silly dream. The world could only handle one Elliot. "So then we get to the edge of the forest...and giant tea leaves started attacking us..because we drink so much tea! But we ended up annihilating the lot of them! But sadly, they were the last tea leaves in the entire world...so, alas, there was no more tea for us. And I cried..all thousands of me..." she finished, sighing. What an awful dream...no more tea! She opened her eyes, looking at Ariana expectantly...was she smart? Elliot dind't know. Probably not. She was dating Rich. Just holding his hand must kill brain cells, no?

"Okay, we need three symbols..." right. "One would be tea leaves..the other...forests?" And what would the third be? She raised her eyebrows at Ariana...

Jory returned the smile in relief. This was actually the first time he found a partner so quickly. Anyway, to business...

He nodded. "I can't remember mine right now, either,'' he said as he looked at parchment Kurumi had handed him. He had recalled it briefly when he awoke this morning though.

"Ready?''
the Puff asked when Kurumi had lie down. "Do you remember what you were doing with any of these things?'' he asked as he flipped to the D section of the text. He would start with the door.

"Right,'' Jory began when he found the paragraph on the door's interpretation. "The door represents enemies who you are trying to escape from.'' He looked at the prefect and wondered why anyone would want her as an enemy. Looking back at the text, he asked "Did the door fall of of its hinges when you locked it?''

"That was quite nice Miss Fairfeild, thank you for that." She said after clapping her hands excitedly for a moment. Hopefully some of the other kids would do something like that.

"The horribleness or the goodness of an interpretation varies with the reader, child. But it is rather common for dreams to be foretellers of bad more often than good." Something weird with the mond that tries to warn us, she guessed.

SPOILER!!: House Elf, Brooch, and MADNESS!

Did he mishear or did the lovely Professor sound a little panicky about that brooch? So very concerned was she? What was the big deal about that brooch anyhow?

Maybe because he was a dude and just couldnt see what the big deal was about little trinkets, unless of course it was a trinket of sentimental value...

Now they were given the go signal to start moving around he looked to Louisa and nudged his head. Partners yeah?

Although its plenty awkward to have the Head Girl intrepret his dream given that she's in it. Maybe he'll mention a different dream instead.

He stood up and started lining the chairs side by side for them to lay in. Because seriously lying down on the floor wasnt an option if he could help it. And from all his shuffling with the seats, he hasnt seen anything that could remotely resemble a brooch "Maybe it isnt even here..." he mumbled.

"So, do you want to go ahead with the dream telling or should I?" he murmured to Louisa. She's been having nightmares and he has been quite concerned with how that have been affecting her psyche even if in all outward appearances she seems to be carrying on pretty well. Maybe talking about it would lessen the trauma?

Ariana jotted down key words as Elliot talked of her dream.. thousands of her and tea leaves... was this girl on something like really? this was just silly. she looked up at her "War." you know cause that was a big deal there was hundreds and hundreds of HER around fighting off tea leaves.... this was a tragedy for the world in more then one sense. She flipped open her book to the word war and she read aloud to her "To dream of war, foretells unfortunate conditions in business, and much disorder and strife in domestic affairs. For a young woman to dream that her lover goes to war, denotes that she will hear of something detrimental to her lover's character. To dream that your country is defeated in war, is a sign that it will suffer revolution of a business and political nature. Personal interest will sustain a blow either way. If of victory you dream, there will be brisk activity along business lines, and domesticity will be harmonious."she sighed and looked at her. I assume the last sentence would suffice since you did win the war with the tea leaves, No?" she looked at her for conformation and she should probally write all this down if the ravenclaw knew what was best
