Default DADA Lesson : Ready minds for Review

Defense Against the Dark Arts Lesson One

Upon entering the arena, it may have been a familiar sight for those who attended the first defense against the dark arts lessons from previous terms. The arena was exceedingly dark, windows having been closed off with dark burgundy, almost black looking, drapes that hung from ceiling to floor; more than likely to help with keeping out the cold as well. Deep purple colored mats were lined perfectly from one another in the middle of floor in rows of eight while a deep red mat sat in the front of them all where Professor Romanos currently sitting upon. However, one could still find their way around the room, for scattered around the edges of the arena, far away from where they all would be sitting, were a great deal of candles, both lighting portions of the walls, floors, and ceiling itself in a rather ghostly glow fashion. Glasses with candles that floated in water surrounded with the stationary ones to light up the particularly extra shiny floor were flickering calmly, while the ceiling was lit with an orange glow from the hovering candles, most commonly seen in the Great Hall. Don't worry though. No candle wax will be dripping to the floor.

A strange yet soft music could be heard gently playing in the background; though not loud enough to block out smaller noises such as the rustling of school bags or footsteps. Please come in and become comfortable on one of the mats. Class will be starting shortly!

OOC: Class has begun! If you are just joining us now, please don't post being late and feel free to post your character
______as if they've been here the entire time. Otherwise, you may risk losing points. ;]

When the Professor had announced they would be doing yoga, Elijah was EXCITED! He did yoga all the time! It helped keep him fit, flexible and gorgeous. Where did ya think all these MANLY muscles came from? And this was a refresher? He shouldn't have skipped DADA so much in the past if they did yoga regularly.

He took his perfected lotus pose and closed his eyes, his hands resting loosely at his knees as he took deep breaths innnnn and outttt andddd... What? The woman was TALKING!? She was totally trashing his feeling of zen. HMPH. Then all of his classmates began SHOUTING out their answers.

THIS. WAS. NOT. YOGA.

It took all of his strength not to sshhhhhhh them all before trying to reach a sense of peace once again in his lotus position. However, it hadn't been all of FIVE seconds before the Head Girl and that girl with the white granny hair were attacking each other. Oh, and then the granny girl CHUCKED something at that boy...

OH GOOD. Nice of you to step in Professor. SIGH. This was not how he had expected this YOGA lesson to go. "I guess one way of knowing who to defend ourselves from are people who fear YOGA," he said with some bitterness. He hadn't minded trading in DADA lessons for yoga, but they weren't really doing EITHER. Yoga had NOTHING to do with DADA and Romanos was RUINING it for him, anyway.

If his theory was true, though, he did notice that West wasn't doing yoga. Maybe that was because he was a vampire... Maybe his answer was correct and there WAS some connection between the two fields of study?

SPOILER!!: Professor
She paused momentarily for dramatic effect. "I am going to be re-introducing the five senses this year as well as hoping to detour most of your standard way of thinking during classes." The first answer they thought of was usually what was blurted out. "To do that, today, when you raise your hand to answer a question, whatever that answer may be...I want you to stop, clear that answer from your mind, and give me a different one. Does everyone understand that?"

Yoga again. Sigh. She felt like a fool when she did yoga. She listened to the professor and was a bit confused when she told them about forgetting the first thing that came to their mind. How would she really know that they gave her the second answer and not the first? Could she read minds or something? Hmmm... Hannah would have to test out this theory sometime. She nodded at the professor to show that she understood...sorta!

SPOILER!!: Cora & Elliot
Cora noticed Hannah's surprised expression. She noticed the hesitation with which Hannah responded to Cora. Cora noticed Hannah's judging look, and that she clearly wasn't AS friendly as some of the other students Cora had met. Cora hadn't noticed this before.

Still, this didn't phase her. Hannah did seem a bit intimidating, which Cora did react to a bit, but Cora could tell there had to be more to her than this. Besides, Cora had already been freaking out about DADA, so anything else seemed less scary. And she was Elliot's friend, which should say something. For some reason, Cora always saw the best in people, and this wasn't about to stop. She just knew she wanted to be on Hannah's good side. That shouldn't be hard for Cora. She was generally easy to get along with. Ignored? Yes. But not hated.

Cora smiled. "It's nice to meet you, too" Cora said happily, wanting to communicate something along the lines of "I respect that you are cooler than me but I'd like to be friends anyway or at least friendly, and I won't step on too many of your toes". Cora turned her head slightly back towards the professor, to see what was happening, hoping that Hannah would like her.

Hannah nodded at her friend Elliot so that she knew that she would meet her there, but she wasn't going to say anything for the risk of getting in trouble. She was interested to see what Elliot had to talk about. It was usually juicy.

She looked over at Cora and gave her a half smile, half smirk. She knew that the girl was intimidated by her and that was a good thing. Still, Hannah was going to give her a chance. Might actually be nice to have a few more friends. She will just have to see how this goes. Marcos would be so proud of her...giving people chances and all. She wouldn't make it a habit though.

SPOILER!!: 1st question
Fair enough questions. "Not weird if you think about it." she started off, looking at the entire class. "It's more of a brain exercise. Believe it or not, things won't go exactly according to plan in the real world outside this castle, or even inside as I'm sure most of you have figured out already. It's best to think of more than one solution than to be left stumbling. It's actually quite a crucial aspect for topics discussed in this class."

Adjusting her legs, she made herself comfortable once more before continuing in. "I'll try not to have basic yes or no questions to make this less hard on you all. If you honestly cannot think or more than one answer, do try and reword it from what you're previously thinking. The point of this is broaden your horizons, so to speak."

"So, for starters, tell me something you know about the dark arts."

Hannah still rreally wondered how she would know if they changed her answer, but she kept it to herself for the time being. Maybe she would bring it up to Elliot later. Hmmm....what does Hannah know about the dark arts, and it can't be the first thing that comes to her mind... which was a good thing because honestly the first thing that came to her mind was that they were dark, and well that was a stupid answer. She raised her hand "Professor the dark arts are used for malicious intent." There that was definitely not her first answer.

SPOILER!!: 2nd Question
Medea listened and nodded to a few more replies before speaking again. Most of them seemed to be getting the hang of the instructions, or at least she hoped they did. Not exactly reading their every thought to know if they were. "That was a very good round of information. Some of you though..." She eyed a few students. Good. Miss Dixon was awake. "I'm sorry to say, artwork and dark paints or colors was not quite the topic I was going for here."

Laughing quietly, she took a deep breath before continuing, becoming a little more serious. "We're going to be taking a small step back for a moment. Miss Dartry had a good question: How do you know what you're meant to be defending yourself from? You guys learn a lot during your school years and will continue to learn in later years to come; especially perfecting your common sense." Ahem.

"So, how do you know what to defend yourself from? And what are some things you should defend yourselves from or that may be too much in grey area to even know?"

Hmmm....that was a good question. Many things cam to her mind. "Professor I think you can know when you are in danger because you get goosebumps and just feel your hair raise, but that doesn't mean that you know what you are up aganist and how to defend yourself is in the grey area I think." she said with a raised hand. She hoped that made sense.

When a small, dark blur went right past her face, Sierra blinked then turned in the direction the object was heading. It was...a shoe. A SHOE?! Ohh, a show to somebody's head.

BWAH HAHA!

You go, PRESIDENT GIRL!

Now that was an awesome scene to watch. Somebody annoying you? No big deal. Just give them a shoe to the head right smack in the middle of class.

TWO POINTS?! ... TWO?!

Sierra perked up. You mean...she could chuck a whole shoe at somebody's head, and it'd only cost her TWO POINTS!?

Heck yeah!

She looked around the room, wondering which Puffers could take a shoe to the head for the cheap price of TWO POINTS.

Richard smiled when the girl recognized him. He eyed her a bit before pushing his school bag away with a foot and sitting down on the mat. Of course, at first he was not happy about the fact that he needed to sit in this 'lotus' position as it looked ridiculous, very ridiculous. But when he did it, he realised that it was not so bad at all. At least he felt comfortable and since everyone was in the same position no one could laugh at him. If one dared to laugh at him, anyway, Rich would so hex their head off so he was safe.

Sitting in this lotus positiom, the boy silently listened to the professor woman even though he really was feeling like interacting with the Ravenclaw girl he was sitting next to as his curiosity about what this class was going to be about was stronger than the urge to flirt her. This was an important topic anyway and the boy was glad when it turned out that the class was really about what it was supposed to be about. And, to be honest, the way the woman thought impressed him pretty much. What she had asked them to do about their thoughts was not only interesting but also very smart.

When she asked the last question, Rich thought over it a bit even though he very well knew the answer for the question. He was not supposed to say what he had thought first, after all. He was thinking that he was supposed to protect himself from what would cause him a loss in a way, physically, mentally, emotionally...a loss in any way. He pushed the idea away into a corner in his mind before thinking of a new one to speak out.

''What about 'the unknown', professor?'' he finally said ''People are afraid of the unknown. And we cannot know if they are dangerous as, well, it is unknown. Defending ourselves from the unknown is a smart thing to do. If you know enough about an extremely dangerous thing, you can easily defend yourself against it.''

If this wasn't a dim-lit classroom with a creepy music and conversation about defense against something, Louisa's reaction might've been lighter. But since this was the case, the head girl yelped and started kicking with all her strength, her hand going for her wand and "PROTEGO!" You could actually hear the shield forming! "LUMOS!" She needed to see what kind of threat she was defending herself from, and thanks to everybody's answers, there seemed to be too many to count!

Vivi. It was the president's daughter.

Ashten's legs were now completely numb from the lack of blood circulation. He no longer cared about reviving them, though he feared the pins and needles that will surely agonize his legs once he has to move. As the Professor asked them what they should be defending themselves from, and something else, Ashten closed his eyes and tried to think. The first thought that came to his mind was why they had to be sitting in these darn yoga positions. Chuckling to himself, he thought harder for his second answer, which was what Professor Romanos wanted in the first place, right?

As he suddenly jerked away he may have hit somebody beside him-- he didnt know who of course-- and he cowered on his elbows and knees trying to shake off the stars that suddenly appeared in his vision.

Grumble mumble "What was that all about?"

However, his ideas of protection via spells and charms was dispelled by some students in front of him. He heard a loud squeal from a girl, the thud of some object making contact with a head, and then someone shouted a shield charm. By then, the fifth-year had opened his eyes and looked around, which definitely was a bad idea considering what came next. The blinding flash of light was too much, especially in the ridiculously dim light of the classroom.
"AGGGHH!" he yelled, clutching his eyes with his hands and suddenly falling to his side as who he thought was Vickers crashed into him. Moaning, he tried to sit back up. His legs were still in the Lotus position, and he did not want to deal with pins and needles twice. With a grunt, he pushed himself upright, maintaining the Lotus position. He rubbed his eyes and then rubbed his side.
"Hey mate," he said to Vickers, rubbing his side still.

Ashten's grimace changed to a look of disappointment. His eyes switched from the Professor to the Ravenclaw girl who had thrown a shoe. She lost them two points. It wasn't a lot, but seeing as Ravenclaw house had few points in total, it wasn't helping that they lost some. Moaning, he went back to thinking of what they had to defend themselves from.
"Professor," he said, after a few minutes. "We'd certainly need to defend ourselves from the spontaneity of life." He emphasized spontaneity. "But since this class is called Defense Against the Dark Arts, I s'pose we should primarily focus on defending ourselves from. . . well. . . Dark Arts. Curses and such, right?" He shrugged. This class was weird.

Okay. If it hadn't been so dark, Jake would have definitely seen the object flying toward his head. But - and yes, he was blaming it fully on the limited lighting - the thing ended up smacking him right on the temple. And Jake toppled over, his legs still tangled in the lotus position.

He yelped, flailing his legs until they untangled, and sat up in a huff. "A shoe?!" He glared at the blonde girl that was yelling about Gryffindors. She had NO right to talk. "See?! Crazy women!" She only proved his point.

And she only got two points deducted. How unfair. Jake could have lost an eye! That was worth more than two points.

Grumbling to himself, he re-lotused, rubbing the side of his head. He'd keep an eye out for Crazy Blonde Ravenclaw Girl. Oh yes, he would.

Just what in Merlin's trousers was happening there?!

WOAH. Rewind, rewind. What's with the flying shoe? And dang! Two points from Ravenclaw? Psshhh. And to think they were still in the negatives! Moreover, it was the new eagle who had cost them to lose it. Gosh, they didn't need anymore demerits if they needed reminding. She was so not going to do something as reckless. She really had to chuck a shoe at whoever that Gryffindor was during a class, in front of a Professor when she could do it quietly after?

Rubbing her nape, Beezus sighed and merely observed as the commotion ensued.

UHM. Eagle control Head Girl Louisa?

Penelope was pretty focused on trying to think of an answer that wasn't the first one that popped into her head, and then, suddenly, chaos ensued. There were squeaks and yells and bright lights - and shoes being thrown? Right at...Jake. Heh. Penelope tried to hold back the laugh sparked by his reaction - and that that Ravenclaw had thrown a shoe at him in the first place - but a tiny laugh or giggle might've escaped her. It was soft though, so maybe Jake didn't hear it. Or anyone else.

But anyway. Back to the lesson...

What was the question again? Penelope couldn't remember. So she just sat quietly and waited for the next one.

Perhaps the activity was working a bit, because Vivi's first impulse was to argue with the professor. That boy there with the big mouth had deserved her shoe to be shoved all the way down his throat and not merely chucked GENTLY at his head. He was rude and stuff.

But when she took a deep breath... and another... and another, Vivi had a second impulse. "Sorry, Professor. Sorry... Gryffindor boy. I apologize for disrupting class and smooshing Louisa and throwing my shoe." Deeeeeep breathing. No good getting angry and upset just because she'd lost points in the one class she needed to do well in.

O__O

There were both overreacting if you asked her. Then she heard someone mention needing protection against women? Really? Vivi didn't seem to agree with that which showed quite obviously when she lashed out and of course Lex agreed fully--until she said that last part. "Heeyy! Gryffindors are not bad! You should be more gender specific like he was!" If she was going to try getting back at him she might as well had played the same card.
She couldn't see the little Gryffindor, but Vivi heard the outraged voice from somewhere in the dark behind her, and her shoulders hunched up. It happened that the first people to befriend her at Hogwarts had all been Gryffindors, and she'd sort of roundly insulted the entire house. So that was yet another reason to be mortified.

Now the Ravenclaw just fumbled on her spot and tried to re-assume her lotus position. Merlin she was still a little shaken, see her paranoia was taking the best of her. She should see professor Lafay about that again.

When someone answered with "women",the Ravenclaw frowned and opened her mouth to say something but Vivi beat her and threw something at him. That... was a very impulsive act. Louisa grinned in the dark and was about to voice out her support but Romanos' voice shut her up. She stayed still until the two points were taken from them.

Should she say something? Instead of... just sitting in awkward silence? Louisa made sure the students started answering again when she cleared her throat and whispered, "Good cause, though." Pause. "Two points are nothing." Ya know, in case Vivi felt bad for it, which was unlikely, Louisa thought but getting addressed in the middle of your first DADA class was ...uncomfortable?
Vivi nodded, appreciating the show of confidence, even if the girl had just stabbed her viciously with her wand just prior to blinding her. Vivi was the one, after all, who had started things and thrown her shoe, and she couldn't exactly be testy with Louisa over any of that.

Plus she was just as injured and hadn't gotten mad. Girl had some class. "S'okay. Just wish it hadn't happened in front of Romanos." Vivi was distinctly unlotusy, with slumped shoulders and her elbows on her knees.

No. No moping! She straightened out her form and closed her eyes, her arms going flat against her legs. Ohm v2.0.

Her ohming was disrupted by the Gryffindor boy, who really just wanted her other shoe to be shoved down his throat. Obviously. He was begging for it. But no. NO. Deep breathing. Ohm and all that.

"Can I have my shoe back, please?" Since she'd already said sorry and all.

Aw yes, she was going to make sure Jacob was alright. Seeing as though the first words from his mouth weren't pain related, he was just fine. "Technically, you started that, Mister Keller." she said as if it were obvious, expression plainly clear that he shouldn't be whining about it. With Genevieve's apology though, Medea relaxed a little. "Best to just move forward."

Yes, it was time to move on.

"Now if we can all settle down, we can get through the rest of the period quickly." Readjusting her position as a few more people answered, she gave a nod to each. "Yes, each of you are correct, general opinion of women and gryffindors aside." Her bringing it up did not give the green light to argue about it. It could be done after the lesson. She was eyeing all of you!

"Some a little more obvious than others, but that is good. I'm glad to know you'll defend yourselves against trolls and spells. However, as a few of you have mentioned, some are not so easily recognizable, especially when the danger comes from our own impulses." Someone here had mentioned negative impulses, correct? "But, that is indeed life. When it comes down to it, it is best to listen to your instincts. Your guard should be on it's highest during those times."

Glancing from one student to the other, Medea moved into a new position. "This one's a killer. I'd like you all to move into the boat position." The student's favorite position, yes? "Speaking of impulses, what makes someone a dark witch or wizard? Who are some well known, or perhaps not so well known at all, people that have been labeled as 'dark'?"

The Idea Man Kori-Kins

Laura looked at the Professor as she got into the Boat Position and then thought about the question. "Well Albus Dumbledore was one wasn't he." Her first answer had be Tom Riddle but she had done what the Professor had asked. "And what makes a person a master in the dark arts, well they act all friendly and act like so normal you don't realise it is them and then there is the fact that the go boo in the night." Laura suddenly realised something. "Are Owls dark creatures? They only come out a night."

Crud.

Elliot HATED this one. For one thing, she wasn't very flexible. For another...it hurt after awhile...maybe she would jog like that little snake kid. It didn't seem nearly as hard..but Elliot didn't want to get all sweaty...

She rolled onto her back, rather gracefully, too, and lifted her arms and legs into the air, like Professor Romanos was showing them...ouch ouch OUCH! It hurt already...Elliot took a deep breath, trying to focus on her question.

What made a dark wizard? it sounded like the question they just answered! Whatever. "Well, a dark magical person is someone, well, involved in the dark arts...in the negative way..." she spit out, without thinking.

Ooops.

She had forgotten to do whole 'think of another answer thing.'

Famous dark wizards...Voldemort. But that would be the most obvious...She raised her hand..."Grindewold, right?" Right. Though the was the second most common, she knew that...oh well..and what was with Laura saying Dumbledore?! Elliot shot her a glare...weird....

Sarah watched the professor. Oww, not this one! She laid down and lifted her legs up, tried to stretch her hands and, oops! Her legs landed with a thud to the ground. She groaned. Determined, Sarah did the formation again. This time, slowly and carefully. She was in the position for a while and then she thought of professor's question.

She broke from the formation and answered. "A dark wizard is the one who practices dark arts, has a passion for it. As if they love the thing" She couldn't accept the fact that people fascinated Dark Arts. She'd read about some of the most powerful dark wizards of all times. "There's Herpo the Foul" she said. "He's known for...uhm.." she tried to remember, "-ah yes, first wizard to create a horcrux" she said. Sarah shuddered to think of how one could make a horcrux. It was...erghh!

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

Jory didn't like the bot position one bit. But he did it anyway, trying to imitate the Professor as best as possible. While fixing himself into the position, he thought of an answer to the question.

"A "dark" person is someone who uses magic to harm others,'' he said. "Though sometimes someone causing the harm can be under the influence of the Imperius Curse. One dark wizard was Bellatrix Lestrange.'' The woman who tortured two Aurors to insanity.

Default Mentioning Elliot and Hannah also >:)
Arts TRANSPONSTER!

What was this??? It seemed like everytime there was a big commotion in classes it was the older students fault! It impressed Sophie the way they could be so loud and... crazy! That girl even chucked a SHOE at the Gryffindor boy. Merlin!

Sophie was glad they had decided to calm down and professor Romanos was already moving on. But oh no... the boat position... ugh! She lifted her legs and as soon as she got in that freaky boat position, her body started to shake.

Struggling to stay on that position and to think of something else to reply - because it couldn't be the first thing that popped into her mind, right? - it took Sophie a little while to speak up. "Th-the thing that makes someone D-Dark is when they do evil magic all the time to..." Wait, no. That was the first thing that came into her mind! "I mean..." The fact that her whole body was shaking was also NOT helping!

Oh well. "Grindiwa.... G-Grindelwald was a Dark Wi-zard, p-professor." Oooooooof! Sophie dropped her legs and head on the mat and took a deep breath. "He was evil because he wanted to be really powerful. He hated Muggles and killed them." The third year resisted the urge to glare at Elliot and Hannah. SEE! Hating on Muggles made you a DARK Witch or Wizard! Well, at least in Sophie's opinion right now. Eeeviiiiiiillllll!

Sophie even sat up straight before continuing. "He also killed magical people, but he really hated Muggles." Sophie's opinion, y'all. "We have to be careful not to hate on people so much, because that can lead us in a very bad path." THERE! She said it. Hmph!

EEVIILL!!!

Then she realised she was not in the boat position anymore. Woops. Taking another deep breath, Sophie lifted her legs once again and tried her best to stay like that until professor Romanos told them to do something else.

Uuuuuuugh ugh ugh uuuugh!!

Boat Position

Still in her Lotus position Cassia watched the students reacting! Well, it sounded that the situation hadn't quite ended with the shoe chucked and so as the one who got a shoe thrown at him seemed to object. Well, he had the right Cassia guessed though he seemed to drop it and was satisfied with just muttering under his breath. Cassia had a feeling that if that Ravenclaw threw a shoe at a fellow Snake.....it would be totally different, just saying.

And then Professor Romanos spoke up again and seemed to end the thing. Yeah ,good idea to continue the lesson actually. So the next position was the boat position ,huh? Well, that particular one was fun. Cassia grinned and untangled her legs from the lotus position. She spread her legs before her and then placed her hands under her knees. And the boat position!

With her short legs pulled up Cassia started to swing them a bit. Why? Because it sounded fun. But then the professor asked a question. Cassia fixed her legs and listened to the question. Dark wizards. Well, obviously a dark wizard is the one who practices the dark arts. So her answer should be different.

Hmm....

"A dark wizard is one who teaches defense against the dark arts," Cassia answered absent-mindedly. The second-year only payed attention to what she said when the words were out of her mouth. Well, in that case Professor Romanos is categorized with dark wizards. Hehee. Example given! The woman does realize that they are supposed to give the wrong answer right? Hopefully ,she still has that in mind. And no it had nothing to do with the Professor mistaken her lastname to Somerland twice.

Boat Position

Alyssa slower moved her legs out of the lotus position and moved around until she was sitting on her bottom holding up her legs at an angle until she had moved into the boat position. As she did so, she thought about the answer to Professor Romanos' question.

'Dump the first answer that comes to your mind and answer with another.' Alyssa reminded herself. Raising her hand before quickly putting it back into place to hold her legs, Alyssa answered.

"Professor, a dark witch or wizard is someone who uses magic for malicious intent. They turn what is usually used for good and make it evil. They show no remorse if anyone gets hurt or killed in the process."

"An example of one whom many people considered a dark wizard would be Amycus Carrow. He tortured almost all of his Defense against the Dark Arts Students when he was their Professor at Hogwarts."

Boat Position

Quickly? Kendall had barely gotten any time to try to not focus on her own problems and to focus on DADA and yoga, and now Professor Romanos was saying they were going to try and finish the lesson quickly? Maybe she'd have to try and do the yoga again up in the common room, or even better, the dorm. At least there she'd have a bit more privacy to try and get momentary peace from confusion. She was still going to try and focus on whatever was left of the lesson, even if she was half-hoping more chaos happened just so it dragged class on. Especially as the fact the professor had gone on to talk about impulses and following instincts only made her think about other things again. DADA please, she thought. Anything to get her to focus on something other than her instincts right now, which was what they were supposed to be doing, wasn't it? Not giving the first answer that came to their head, which was sort of going against instincts.

First she had to figure out how to move into the boat position without kicking anyone, stretching her legs out in front of herself like she'd done before and sort of folding her body in half like had been demonstrated. Hopefully she'd be excused for not raising her hand to answer the question, because right now the only time her hands were leaving her legs was to keep herself from falling over sideways into Beezus or whoever was on her opposite side. So far she was wobbly but still staying upright. At least she wouldn't hurt anyone in her sock feet. "A dark wizard is made by the desire for power no matter how they get it. Or the desire to follow somebody who has that power or seems like they do. And they don't worry about killing people or guilt or anything like that," she answered. Maybe they just ignored it, or maybe the dark magic just made it all vanish. And she'd turned her head slightly as someone had men tioned Bellatrix Lestrange. "What about Tom Riddle? Voldemort? He was obviously a dark wizard," she blurted out. Even though she'd actually thought about the other Lestranges first.

Haha. Jackob got a shoe thrown at his head. Tag hadn't really been paying any attention to whatever was happening for that to happen to Jackob, he didn't really care though. All that mattered was that it did happen. An that Jackob was getting some physical pain a lot lately. Good.

What in the world was that? How was that a boat?! Tag imagined a boat in his mind and never found a boat to look like all its weight was on a center point. No, this was some magical boat. He tried to center all of his weight onto his bum, as he liked to call it.Lift his legs up above him while having his arms stretched out in front of him. This was weird. He couldn't find any balance to himself so he would just roll over about five times.

In the end he just decided he'd tuck his hands beneath his back and lay nearly flat, though he lifted his head a bit and his feet a few inches off the ground, off the floor. There, at least he was doing it now. Now he was expected to talk while keeping his balance! This lady was crazy involving a workout into class time.

With some great huffing and trying to gather up his breath while keeping his stomach tight Tag started " Their intentions make them dark. If they have no remorse for creating some evil act then they don't see it as wrong. They'll probably..probably.." He heard his breath faltering and his fingers were becoming numb so he had to readjust himself again so that his hands were more on the outside of his hips then trapped beneath his back. "Keep on continuing with this. Because they have no..no..no feeling for it, its just that. It doesn't bother them, so they'll go on." He'd stop now because if he continued he'd ramble and would constantly have to change his position throughout his answer. Tag didn't want to waste the teachers time.

Boat Position

Jogjogjogjog hah! See, it was paying off now, jogging instead of that boat thing.

Another question! What made someone dark? Who are well known... blah blah. Two questions. West was about to blurt once again but made a conscious effort to say something different. Hand up. Jogjogjog. "Dark wizards and witches are dark because they want power and will do anything it takes to get it even if that means hurting people." Well and West rather thought it depended on the people, didn't it? And on the hurt? A simple headbutt wasn't the same as cursing someone insane.

Not that he was even close to capable of the second one.

As for the second bit, he brightened. "I know one! My dad put one in Azkaban. Martel D'Isigny, he was the leader dude of the Cult of Walpurgis. It was in the Daily Prophet and everything."

Boat Position
Mmkay. Too much for the clamor between the Blue and Red House. And thank you Professor Romanos for being so considerate.

As they were asked to shift into a "killer" yoga stunt, Beezus staaaaaaaaaaaaared at the woman for seconds. Killer position? GodricGryffindor'sSword! She was referring to the boat position. Shoot! No. She couldn't do the stunt right now, not when she was enduring the stabbing daggers on her ribcage. She might make it worst. However, granted that she was a Quidditch player and was basically up to giving herself more straining pain that she already had, the Ravenclaw still obliged and did as they were told.

Dislodging from the Lotus position, she brought her knees to the front, then moved sideways, placed her hands palms open on the floor behind her and heaved her lower body uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuppppppppp...

*CRACK!*

She barely got through lifting her legs when it tumbled down into the floor with a rather loud thud. Her ribcaged cracked! IT CRACKED! Beezus winced, eyes streaming as she uncontrollably let out a muffled yelp of pain, feeling a gush of one thousand and one sharp blades permeating throughout the cartilaginous structure. Her arms cowered immediately around her stomach. That hurt, it hurt, really...it hurts!

A little help? Kendall? Rich?

Crying now, she heard the Professor's question and sniffed before answering, "Beaters...they tend to inflict harm to other players with their..." Cough. Cough. "..bludgers..."

Sorry Professor Romanos but she wasn't going to do the boat position.

Stuck inside with Sirius | *Splish-Splash* | bamBAM | ☁ Spooktacular ☁

Spike's eyes widened. A 'killer' position? Didn't the woman know how many bruises he was carrying from tryouts? Plus a few grazes down his back?

It was times like this Spike wondered exactly how he'd got an O in his OWL. And, for that matter, why he was still taking the subject. He could be relaxing in the greenhouses right now, or grooming a hippogryff, or many other wonderful activities...

Huh.

With a grumble, he heaved his legs off the ground, and clung on to them as tight as he could. His bruised stomach muscles were too sore to even contemplate holding him in the pose otherwise. And there he rocked and wobbled about on his matter, trying to concentrate on the question as a distraction. What made someone dark?

Bad intentions, he thought, before remembering he was meant to clear the first idea from his mind. And then he heard Beezus pipe up from somewhere in the darkness, and he agreed. "Definitely beaters," he agreed with a nod and subsequent wobble. "Anyone who takes pleasure in hitting bludgers at innocent Chasers definitely has morbid intentions...especially if it's at your own housemates during tryouts."

...and that included his sister. He still remembered why he missed last term's Championship match.

Did Beezus' voice sound funny? Or was that just him imagining things in the dark?

Boat Position

O_________________________O

What kind of a position was that!? Yeah, Professor said it was 'the boat' position. Clearly it looked awkward. Kat didn't wanna do that. But she cares and it's for the sake of her class. Kat sat down and tried to imitate the position. At first, she failed. "Oooff," Kat said. Then she tried it again and glady, she didn't fail. Ok... it kinda looked awkward but it was better than practically nothing.

What makes a dark witch or wizard? "I think what makes a witch or wizard dark is when he or she practices Dark Magic, or Dark Arts," Kat said. "Mostly, people would say Dark witches and wizards are the people who make Horcruxes, but there are more reasons to make someone dark. Even using the Unforgivable Curses can make a wizard Dark." Guess that was it.

NOTTHEBOATPOSITION!

Ella frowned immediately, knowing she was completely rubbish at this pose. Every single time she found herself rocking or worse, falling over to the side uncomfortably. Romanos was right. This position WAS a killer. A blonde Hufflepuff third year killer. MEEP!

The third year positioned herself on the ground and then with furrowed brow, thrust her legs up and out in front of her. She reached her arms out and held on tightly, trying not to rock too much. EEP. This was definitely uncomfortable. WHY couldn't she have longer arms and legs, anyway? That would make this far less difficult, just saying. Anyway...time to try and answer. "Professor, a dark witch or wizard is something who seeks to cause harm." So it was all about intentions, yeah? As for one from history..."Herpo the Foul was...was..." YIKES! Ella quickly readjusted her grip, preventing herself from toppling over. "He was a ancient dark wizard and I think he hatched a Basilisk!"

Nigel was happy he followed what West was doing and jogging. It sounded like the boat position was painful. He had no idea how a person could answer a question and be in the boat thing. Nigel did know one dark wizard/witch. He did not want to say an obvious one so he decided on a really old one.

"Professor, I know one. It's Morgan le Fay. She was a Dark Witch and an Animagus"

Nigel did like the beater answer. Because really, they try to hurt innocent chasers with the bludgers they hit.
