As you make your way down to the pasture for the first Care of Magical Creatures lesson of the term, and if this is not your first time visiting the place, you'll notice that the grassy area looks.. well, different. No creatures, besides the ones that Professor Newlin has hidden in the many cages scattered about can be seen.. or not seen, and how could you possibly miss the long covered table off to the side near the shed? What is in the cages and under the cover will stay a mystery.. for now.
Have yourself a seat on the grass, or stand if you'd rather! Not too close to those cages, though. Professor Newlin is there, laying on her stomach in the middle of the area, an open jar next to her and her finger stuck deep in the dirt.
There are worms in the dirt, after all.
OOC:This lesson will start later, later, laaaaater today. And I'm so nervous! The lesson has started! Please don't announce late arrivals. And I'm still nervous!
Post 5. Sorry about the length! It's worth it though ;) EVERYONE :)

When the water reached just over the rear of the fire crab, Ella stopped the flow and placed her wand in her pocket again. "There! Great job, Martin." He hadn't even tried to shoot fire at her or anything! BEAM.
While Martin was soaking, Ella whistled, trying to prepare herself for rubbing the little guy's shell. Sure he was being well behaved now, but she wasn't positive he wouldn't try anything if she touched him. Some people were sensitive about stuff like that...
After taking a deep breath, the third year made sure her gloves were removed and dipped her hands into the water, gently placing them on Martin's shell. She rubbed the shell with her finger tips, feeling around for said spots or cracks. MEEP. Martin had a BIG crack along the right side of his shell! Frown. Was he a fighting fire crab or something? ...Or worse! Was he bullied by the other fire crabs? Ella frowned, looking down at the little creature with concern. "It's okay, Martin. We all have cracks." Erm...and she didn't mean that literally, either.
...And WHY was that Elijah character shirtless...again? The third year rolled her eyes at the older badger, trying not to be distracted by his beautiful bod. HOW was she meant to concentrate when he insisted on turning this class into some kind of shirtless modeling opportunity for himself. Sheesh. He was SUCH a weirdo. And his shirt had burst into flames? Right...he probably was going to claim it had been due to his overwhelming hotness or something. GAG.
SPOILER!!: Instructions
Step One:
Fill the bucket up with enough water to make sure the rear of the Fire Crab is completely covered. While letting soak for several minutes, lightly rub the shell with your fingertips to feel for any soft spots or cracks. (Soaking will allow any buildup, caused by its flames, to loosen)
Step Two:
With a soft bristled brush, gently scrub the entire shell using a light, circular motion. Pay special attention to any areas with buildup, mostly around their colored jewels and under the rim of the shell. Be careful not to brush areas covered in scales. They tend to be sensitive.
Step Three:
Gently massage the Fire Crab shell, under body, legs and tail with a soft, wet washcloth. This will loosen most soil. Don't worry if small flakes are released from the shell! This is just normal shedding. Rinse the Fire Crab to remove flakes.
Step Four:
Rinse the Fire Crab thoroughly. Closely inspect the shell for any irregularities, such as softening, excessive flaking, cracks, unusual discharge, or discolorations. Discoloration would occur on the jewels.
Step Five:
While still wet, place the Fire Crab back in the cage and cover with the cage with a dark colored cloth (the ones that covered it earlier). Rinse out supplies.
We see your stares, Puff. Elijah would have given Ella some pec flexes if she wasn't so young. Girls like her should be only just be discovering make up to fix up their faces from looking like... well, that, into something that (probably wouldn't) be as gorgeous as Elijah.

Now on to the next step, Louisa reached out for the bristle brush with her ungloved hand and maneuvered the creature's head with her gloved one. She didn't want it to accidentally drool, bite, lick or get in contact with her skin at all. It was enough that she dealt with its other body secretions.
Very gently, and with an awed face, she started moving her brush circularly and very gently over the jewels on its shell, around them, and carefully trying to reach to those tiny kind-of-hidden areas. So intent and focused on her work, Louisa's head suddenly snapped away from her bucket to where she heard someone loudly say something, the flicker of fire was casting some fiery light and sound all over the place.
Expectantly, it was the curly headed Huffie fraud. His Fire Crab was in his hands with a bonfire in front of him. His shirt? Coz he wasn't wearing any. Louisa cocked an eyebrow, a smirk starting to form on her mouth. "Your friend's a dork," she chuckled addressing Vickers. Then she spoke louder, "Nice bellybutton, curlyhead!" Actually she didn't really see his bellybutton, but Louisa figured it delivered her point of underestimating the boy's manly appearance. Although he DID look good without his shirt on, but sorry, she'd seen better abs, COUGHvickersCOUGH, so this was just a funny scene to her.
Back to scrubbing and cleaning... and dodging the scaled area.

Slowly he moved his way up to the top part of the shell, scrubbing in a circular motion, watching the rough hewn gems glimmer as it caught the sunlight and refracted it back in little scattered prisms.
No wonder these creatures were endangered. It was hard to not to want something so naturally precious.
SPOILER!!: Louisa and Elijah
He was aware that there was some ruckus happening, but he could quite tear his gaze away from the glittery jewels and it was only from the Head Girl's murmurs that he finally looked up. "Who's a do--"
Oi! Not again Elijah!
Well this time Vickers doenst have spare trash bags-turned-weird-vests to spare, and really he couldnt do much of else other than roll his eyes and shake his head, and maybe try not to snicker at Louisa's cat call to him.
Oh here we go the pecs flex...
Finally the Ravenerd called out from where he stood "Careful Elijah you're bound to have someone throw something at you... " like spare brushes? buckets? water? money
His attention was won over by the head girl as she began shouting compliments about his belly button, which resulted in Elijah's face lighting up with joy, "Thanks Louisa. I guess you noticed it's perfect proportions in size and depth and how it compliments my abs as they form around it. It's truly like the star on top of the Christmas tree if we want to get into metaphors... You're welcome to touch it," he offered, regretting doing so immediately as he realised Vicker's presence. He had forgotten that these two had a weird... thing. Whatever it was.
"The only thing they'll be flinging at me is phone numbers and thank you cards," Elijah responded to his friend's retort, throwing in a wink there also.

Ariana took her crabby crab and rinsed him off thoroughly making sure to remove any excess flakes still on his weird looking shell and body whatever. She looked at the shell closely, but not closely of course and determined nothing was wrong with the crabby crab. She looked down at him "you've been a goo.."
was that flames!?
Ariana looked over to where the majority of the class was and saw that Same kid who always losses his shirt somehow.. without his shirt on.. of course.. She furrowed her brows and shook her head "Gross, he's going to get sick or something, it's chilly out here." she said to her crab mainly, but if anyone heard her then oh well.
Looking back at her crab she gave him one final rinse down
Was that girl whispering to her crab? Probably telling it how awesomely hawt he was. After all, why couldn't creatures get to bask in the brilliance of his Godly beauty?

Kurumi promptly turned her head away from Elijah the Shirtless Wonder just as Aspen was answering her question. Fly? Nope...nooooooooo flying for this Gryffindor like...ever. Unless Selina dared drag her to the pitch again. "No...thank you," Kurumi muttered as she was ABOUT to turn her attention back to her soaking fire crab...
....
Only something shiny and dancing caught her attention and she foolishly looked in the direction of the movement.
...
LKDJLJDKSJDOIEOHDBKCS
Kurumi's violet eyes widened and her cheeks went an instant red. Her hair miiiiiiiiiiight have even done a bit of a color change due to the shock of the whole situation.
Flailing her arms a little, Kurumi scanned the ground for his shirt and had EVERY intention of picking it back up and handing it to him...when she saw a pile of ash on the ground and a daydreamy looking fire crab sitting on it.
....
The fire crab had oh-so-conveniently burned his shirt?
.............................
Now trying her best NOT to look at Elijah and his dancing pecs of DOOM, Kurumi turned her gaze back to her fire crab...but ended up turning her head just a little too quickly and made herself get a little dizzy which made her swaaaaaaaay just a little in place, knocking over her bucket and causing all the water to pour out of it.
Fire crab remained completely unharmed and even seemed to squeak with delight at the little ride he had just been on.
Right...fire crab..needed to go....back to...it's cage...

Elijah noticed the Prefect blush as he send a few pec flexes her way and then even witnessed her getting woozy and knocking over her bucket... oh boy. What sort of magical powers did his pecs possess to turn her into fainty damsel in distress? Well, no matter what the answer to that might be, he stopped his pec flexing immediately, refusing to have her collapse on the floor AGAIN. In fact, he moved further away from her so that there was less chance he and his nipples would get the blame if she did decide to go all MAN DOWN MAN DOWN on them again.
SPOILER!!: Aspen

..................
"Only if you intend to fly."
Aspen could only see Dragon Bait flying in the mouth of a dragon, as it gobbled it her up for a num-num appetizer. Merlin, that'd be awesome. She never thought she'd say it, but at this moment, she did miss Williamson.
...
...
He'd not only taken his shirt off (again), but he'd.... set it on fire. And then blamed the fire crab.
It was either madness or brilliance.
Aspen kept her straight face, but really - this boy thought he could fly. It was TOO easy. She began carving out a HOLE in her bucket with her wand so her little fire crab would have some light. And air. And so he could witness the rest of this show. It was too good to miss, even if you were an inept fire crab with bad aim.
"You've seen how bats fly? Or even birds. It all starts with flapping. Start slow so you don't hurt yourself. Might want to do a few neck rolls. Get limber. Cartwheels are good for limbering up." And even better when cartwheels were less-than-dressed, over the embers of a recently burned shirt, in the middle of fire crab pasture.
What could possibly go wrong? "I can watch your fire crab if you want to practice now."
The attention his hawt bod was drawing died down slightly, and Elijah could once again focus on what Aspen was trying to teach him. He didn't seem so thrilled that there was going to be flapping involved, however... Had she been taking extra lessons from Burbage? Elijah had gone to such great lengths NOT to have to flap and look like an imbecile that he was particularly torn at this moment in time.
She did suggest he limber up first, though. Cartwheels he could do, and didn't mind doing for the matter. Gymnastic-like things were awesome ways to impress the ladies (and prepare oneself for flying, it seemed).
SO, he began cartwheeling in a small circle in his designated space for the class. He even did a couple of front and back flips and showed off some pretty impressive yoga moves too. Exercise was one of few things Elijah took seriously. Exercise was important, after all, for him to stay gorgeous and therefore get that modeling dream.
However, during one cartwheel, he set off with one hand on the ground and his legs in the air, swiftly moving to the opposite side. He had been about to place his second hand on the ground so he could finish off the move, but found that his fire crab (clearly curious about his antics) had waddled onto the spot that Elijah needed sooooooo....
He tumbled and thankfully did NOT squish his fire crab.
Despite missing the little guy, though, he seemed to take this as a sign of attack, and his once docile little crab became a MONSTER as he clasped his jaws around one of Elijah's nipples.
"MEEERRRRLIIIINNNN! OWWWWWWWWW!" Elijah shrieked in pain, quickly jumping from the ground where he lay, the fire crab still attached to his nipple, dangling in mid air. Elijah tried to shake him off by doing, what looked to be, BAD belly dancing moves and even tried to yank the little buggar, but he had clasped on TIGHT.
He began spinning around, hoping that the speed would detach the crab from his nipple, but instead it just made it even ANGRIER as it did what fire crabs do best, and began SHOOTING flames out of it's backside.
In short, Elijah was currently spinning round in circles and shaking his body with a fire crab biting his nipple, sending flames all around the classroom. Now, who said Care of Magical Creatures was boring? Peeves ain't got NUTTIN ON DIS.

Theodore needed information about ghosts, and how to fend them off. Because they were kind of terrifying, you know.
"I won't get burnt. If he's in this bucket, he won't reach my feet." Because according to the professor, the feet were about the most common place to get burned. And the bucket created a barrier. He smiled slightly as the Fire Crab was put into the bucket with no trouble. Buuuuut... was Terry taking his gloves OFF? Really? Theo stared at him in awe. Nope, his gloves were staying firmly ON.
His turn to what?
After a slight pause of trying to figure out what he had to do, Theo peered over the bucket, without touching the creature, and gave a firm nod. Seemed ready to go.
The boy picked up the brush and paused.... again.... Forever pausing. But he soon realized that it was now or never, so the second year placed the brush on one of the jewels and did the lightest of circular motions across it. It was a pathetic attempt, really. But... "There." Done. Terry's turn.
Terry thought that he knew more about magical creatures then he did anything else. It was what he had been brought up with, what the focus of his studies had always been and it was reflected in his interest in the subject. "Yeah, I guess I do" he nodded. "I've been brought up with lots of different creatures, mum used to bring them home all the time" He loved it, the opportunity to look after various creatures, great and small. Though he was never allowed to look after the dangerous creatures if she had to bring them home and he'd never seen a dragon before in his life.
The twelve year old shrugged and watched as Terry looked down at the crab without touching it. He raised his eyebrow. "It won't hurt you" he chuckled. "It's in the bucket, its not even hot anymore" Who could be scared of a cute little crab?
His scrubbing ability wasn't particularly brilliant either. Once he had finished, Terry took the brush from him and gently but firmly scrubbed in the crevices to get rid of the loose dirt in circular motion. "He'll be sparkling soon" he grinned.
The Slytherin glanced up at the board to read what the next step was. He decided to go first seeing as he had the brush and he gently massaged the entire shell before putting it down and searching for the washcloth. He made sure to massage the crabs entire body softly and rinsing it to remove the flakes he had created. "Your turn" he passed over the washcloth accidentally flicking a little water over.

Ella looked over at Belle, smiling as the older badger took care of Jeremy. She approved of the name, too. Jeremy was quite a nice name for a fire crab. BEAM.
Picking up the wash cloth, Ella got it wet and started to massage the fire crab's shell. "That's it, Martin. Good boy. We're going to make you nice and shiny!" Next she started to wash under the crab's body, being careful not to hurt him or anything. EEP! That wouldn't be good. Then came the legs and tail, both washed as gently as the shell had been. And Martin was being such a good fire crab. BEAM. He wasn't even farting fire or anything! Maybe he was starting to warm up to her? HEH. Warm up...geddit? He's a fire crab...warm...HEHEHE
The flakes were kind of questionable but Ella figured if Professor Newlin said they were normal, she didn't have to worry too much. The small blonde very carefully rinsed the crab off before crossing that step off her list. So far...so good!

Again the girl made him laugh. It was a kind and short one this time though as for some reason he liked the question. He stared at the fire crab a bit before moving his gaze back on the girl. ''Sometimes.'' he said ''Just to let people, or things at this case, know who is the boss.'' Yeah, that was right. He was always the boss and he was ready to show it to anyone who would challenge him about that and he would not care if they would be hurt in the progress. It was not his problem after all.
He was about to stare back at the crab to see if it was daring to make a move when Harlow made that comment about him. It kinda made him forget about the creature and what it would dare to do. Was that a compliment? If it was, it was a different one from the ones he got so far but that did not mean he would not appreciate it. Quite the opposite, he liked it. It looked like the girl was doing some progress on warming up. ''Well...i think being sparkly would look better with your pretty eyes.'' That was it and he knew he was right. He was always right, after all. ''Pleased to meet you too, Harlow.'' Oh he was. He did not know anyone else who would tell him that his eyes were sparkly anyway. It was a bit funny but felt good anyway. Compliments were good. He liked them and he knew he deserved them.
Eh...he would understand why she would not spend much time in the common room as these days ugly house elves decided to show up there which annoyed the Slytherin boy a great deal but it seems the reason for that was different for the girl. Richard chuckled. ''Really?'' he asked raising his eyebrows at her. ''Is not that waht makes furniture good though? The bigger the better. You see? All the bigger furniture are always the more expensive ones. I think you should try to enjoy it a bit.'' That was a different point of view from what she meant, of course, but it was still something to say. He would enjoy bigger furniture if it was him, to be honest. He smirked and winked at the girl again before looking up at the professor as she had started to say something.
So? It was time to wash these creatures? Wash? Like seriously? Richard eyed the creature. It looked like it could live another century without a bath but if it was what they were going to do for the rest of the class, the boy supposed he had to do it. Trying to ignore the urge to kick the cage, he opened his and took the creature out of it without waiting to walk out itself. He was not going to wait forever for a stupid creature to act. Of course, he paid extra attention that its butt was away from his face as he put it in the bucket. ''You better not make a stupid move there.'' he said to the creature as he unholstered his wand and pointed it into the bucket. ''Aguamenti''
He looked at Harlow as the water from his wand started to fill the bucket. ''You need help with anything?''
Harlow nodded, "Ah. Well I will put myself in your capable hands then boss." She stood up straighter and gave him a sloppy salute. It was so much easier to talk to him when she knew he was just being nice to a cute kid than when she thought he was flirting with her as an equal.
The crab knocked against its cage and Harlow looked down to see if the thing was going to thrown a royal tantrum, but it settled down. She smiled down at the creature. Her heart skipped a couple hundred beats when he said she had pretty eyes. She tried not to let her face burn, but it flared up on its own accord. It was a good thing she had a warm chocolate complexion to work with or she would have looked like a ripe tomato. "Is flattery your weapon of choice?" she asked him when her neuron's started firing again.
Harlow smiled as he smirked and winked at her. She wasn't sure if this was flirting or if he was just trying to be nice to the cute kid but she was glad for his effort. To be honest the only boys she ever spent any time with were her brothers and they sucked royally. They took rabid pleasure in her torment. "Well you see how small I am. Its difficult enough not being trampled everyday. I don't want to risk the furniture eating me." She pointed out with a smile. It was a joke and she hoped he picked up what she was putting down.
Harlow watched at Richard opened the cage for the fire crab. The crab looked at both of them as if the thing would rather melt them like wax than let them wash it. Harlow popped her hands on her hips. "Now you be polite." She gave the crab a look she had seen her mother use against her brothers. The crab let out a snip with its claws and settled down. "See. Was that so hard?" She inched closer to the thing before squatting down to pick it up. She shook her head at Richard's last question, and she nearly buckled under the weight of the fire crab as she wrestled the poor thing into the rapidly filling bucket. "I should have had my Wheaties this morning." she said once the poor thing was snipping around in the water.

After Annabelle got Jeremy and he was all settled. Belle decided it was time to start working. "Alright jeremy, lemme see what the first step is." Belle said looking at her notebook.

She picked up Jeremy and it eyes looked sweet. It felt happy to be taken care of. "Aww you are so adorable." she cooed at him. Now onto feeling for any soft spots or cracks. She used her gloves for an extra precaution and she felt some soft spots actually. No cracks though. Cracks might have been worse.
Belle heard Ella's joke and she actually giggled. "Nice joke Ella!" Belle smiled as she giggled.

Ethan nodded to Minerva. Yes... best to keep those fiery bums pointing away from them. He reached his hands inside the cage and maneuvered the little guy so he was facing forward, then as the girl counted to three he gently lifted Brûle out of the cage. So far, so good, he thought as the fire crab had been compliant to this point. No flames yet. He glanced over at Minerva, whose fire crab shot out a little fire. "Oooh, careful," he said, eyeing Sparks warily. "Good thing thing you have those gloves on."
Now to get Brûle in his bucket. Ethan slowly lowered his fire crab into the water, but apparently the water startled the creature - too cold maybe? - and it attempted to deploy a few flames. Thankfully the boy had managed to get the fire crab into the water so the fire was quickly extinguished, turning it into sizzle and steam. Waving the steam away from his face, Ethan noticed the water was bubbling lightly... like a simmer... or jacuzzi... and his fire crab had calmed. I guess the water is the right temperature now. Chuckling to himself, he said, "There... that wasn't so bad, was it?" Though he had been a bit nervous about getting burned at first, he had to admit these little fire-starters were pretty cool.
Ethan sat down, cross-legged, in front of the bucketed fire crab and took off his gloves as he allowed the creature a few minutes to soak. While he waited, he turned to catch a glimpse of Minerva and her fire crab. Noticing how at ease she was, he said with a grin, "Piece of cake, right?" Nothing like a little fire to keep you on your toes.
"Oh, look, the entertainment is beginning," Ethan announced to his partner as he noticed a shirtless boy performing flips and cartwheels on the grounds not far from them. Clearly, Professor Newlin had hired an acrobat to entertain them while they had to wait for those fire crabs to soak in their jacuzzis. Not quite as good as one of those Cirque de Soeil shows, but captivating none the less. The screechy, off-key singing certainly wasn't the high point... but the spinning fire trick, that was fairly impressive. Ethan politely applauded the fire-spinning acrobat, ducking as the fire came around his way. A class with a show, what could be better?

After Belle was done feeling for the cracks in Jeremy's shell. She looked into her notebook and wondered what step was next.
SPOILER!!: Belle's Notebook
Step Two:
With a soft bristled brush, gently scrub the entire shell using a light, circular motion. Pay special attention to any areas with buildup, mostly around their colored jewels and under the rim of the shell. Be careful not to brush areas covered in scales. They tend to be sensitive.
Belle then grabbed the soft bristled brush and knew she had to gently scrub the shell. "Alright jeremy see i am going to use this brush." she said and held it up so the creature won't be afraid. She pointed the rear end to the bucket incase he light up. Then she looked for the scales to make sure she didn't brush them. She found them and knew to be careful. She found the colored jewels and under the rim of the shell.
After she found the places, she used the brush and scrubbed the creature. It was rigid at first but after it got used to the brush, it became relaxed.
"See Jeremy, you are fine." Belle assured him. She could see his eyes being happy and being taken cared of. She tried to brush his scales but he jumped violently. "Alright i won't do it!" Belle gasped. He looked angry and she dare didn't do it again.
After she was done she went into her notebook and looked at step 3.

Looking at the directions, Sierra sort of frowned when she read what was next. This crab seriously wasn't going to attack them, was it? ...because if it did, and if Sierra was able to attack afterwards, she most definitely would.
She reached down, although hesitantly, and massaged the fire crab's shell with the washcloth. After a few minutes had passed, she moved under its body, legs, and tail with the washcloth. Merlin. This had to be the cleanest these fire crabs had ever been.
A couple of small flakes shed off the shell, and for a moment, Sierra thought she'd slowly killed the thing. Then she remembered it was just a natural way of shedding. Oh, good. The last thing she wanted to lose points for was killing a fire crab. She pointed her wand at the fire crab and cast 'Aguamenti' for a few moments to rinse the flakes off.
After Belle was done scrubbing Jeremy's shell. She looked at Step 3

After Belle read the step she had to massage Jeremy. "Alright boy are you ready for this? I am going to give you a nice massage after i did all that scrubbing." Belle told him. He looked prepared and she got out her washcloth. She dipped the cloth into the bucket and kept his fire side down for now. He seemed to trust her.
After the cloth was dripping, she touched his shell. He winced at first but then Jeremy seemed to like it. She massaged his shell with the cloth and then his underbody. She turned him over and his tail was wagging. He loved this massage. She did nice smooth circles and applied some pressure to help loosen the soil. The soil seemed to be coming off. It seemed to loosen. Belle massaged some more and the flakes were coming off. She rinsed the crab after she was all done in the bucket. She saw all the soil and flakes. After he was soaked she held him and dumped the water to get it out. Then she said "Aquamenti!" and the bucket was filled. "See what a good boy you are!" she cooed at him.

And now Lily was back and...wondering if the fire crabs were going to sleep? Penelope shrugged. "I dunno. I don't remember the professor mentioning it..." It was a good question though. What if the fire crabs didn't like being cleaned and tried to shoot fire at them? Penelope couldn't conjure up a Shield Charm so she'd be toast...literally.

Making her way over to the long table, Vanora grabbed herself a bucket, brush and washcloth before moving back to the middle of the pasture. She did smile and shake her head as she passed Kendall, though. There was really no need for the girl to help collect the worms. Because she was going to do it all the easy way after the lesson.
She plopped herself back down on the grass, and once again opened her Fire Crab's cage. "By now everyone should have their things and a partner if you wanted one." Which, she was just slightly disappointed over the fact that most of them chose to work with someone else. But she had said they could, so no worries, really. "And if you still want a partner and can't find one, you can come up here and work with me." Grin! But she doubted anyone would want that. Anyway. Moving on..
"Today is all about taking care of the Fire Crab." Hence the emphasis on the 'Care' part from earlier. "And one of the most important ways to take care of them is to bathe them. Which you will all be doing right now." As if they didn't know. She glanced around once more to make sure they were paying attention, and satisfied that they were, she picked up the Fire Crab and placed him into the bucket. "You can all open your cages now, but before you pick them up, just know that they are going to be hot to the touch. Not scorching hot, and you won't get burned, but if you don't believe me, I trust you all have gloves on you." They read the rules, right? "You'll have to take them off after, though. It's difficult to wash while wearing them."
"You're going to want to move slow, so you don't scare them, and once you place them into the bucket, fill it with water until their rears are covered. Once you do that, the Fire Crab can no longer shoot its flame and washing will be easy." And that sort of, kind of answered Cassia's question from earlier, right? Right.
Pulling out her wand, she cast a silent 'Aguamenti' into her bucket, and once it was full enough, she gave it a flick behind her and a set of instructions appeared, hovering low enough so everyone could see.
SPOILER!!: Instructions!

"If there are no questions, you may begin! But please, just because the Fire Crab can not shoot its flame while in the water, they can still become scared and annoyed." All that would really happen is some smoke appears and the water would get a little hotter. But they were her babies! "So be careful and take your time. I'll be around to help if you need it!"
OOC: You will have.. probably a little over 48 hours to complete this activity. To receive full credit, you'll need to post at least 5 times, completing each of the steps. And if there are any questions, Professor Newlin will be around or you can shoot me a PM. Also, have fuuuuuuun!!! =D
Lily nodded towards her partner acknowledging her response before the professor started up the class. Right... they were going to give these fire crabs a bath. After their instructions were given and they could get to work, the third year gave a little nod to Penelope. "Ready?" Well, she'd better be ready because Lily sure was. She slipped her gloves on and took a step closer to the cage. "So... did you want me to take the Fire Crab out of the cage and put it in the bucket and then you fill it up with water? For both of us??" Rather than each taking a fire crab out at the same time and not being able to help each other if the crab gets unhappy.
While Lily waited, she took her brush and washcloth out of her bucket and put them off to the side. Then she quickly grabbed a piece of parchment and scratched down the instructions for later.

Ella BEAMED at Belle when the older badger said she liked her joke. Heheh. She was SO funny. Oh...and that Elijah character was looking at her. Meh. The third year very maturely stuck her tongue out at him before rolling her eyes. He really was ridiculous, that boy. ...and probably cold. Somebody get homeboy a shirt, STAT.
Having scrubbed little Martin clean, Ella rinsed off the fire crab carefully and then lifted him up a bit so she could inspect his shell more closely. The little guy got a bit squirmy and Ella frowned, narrowing her eyes at him. "Now come on, Martin. You've done so well...let's not get all flail-y now." And after a minute or two...the flailing stopped. HEH. Ella was SO a fire crab whisperer! BEAM.
As she slowly turned her fire crab around in her hands, the third year noticed that same crack she'd noticed before. Was it bad that Martin had a crack like this? Raising her hand, Ella decided it best to ask for an expert opinion. "Professor? Is it bad that Mart-I mean, my fire crab has a big crack in his shell?" Frown. Frown. Frown. He'd be okay, yeah?

After she understood what to do. She rinsed the crab thoroughly. She used the wash cloth and soaked, squirted it out and then re soaked. Her hands felt like prunes but she wanted to give Jeremy some care.
She was closely inspecting the shell. She was checking for irregularities. "Alright Jeremy, i am gonna get a little close to you. I am sure you will be fine." Belle said and put her gloves on. She pointed her tail to the ground. He didn't seem angry at all. He felt relaxed. After she was closely looking, she noticed unusual discharge.
Belle raised her hand and asked the professor, "Professor what do i do when i find unusual discharge on my fire crab?" She hoped Jeremy would be ok. She has grown fond of him. "Aw poor guy, i am going to make you feel better don't worry."

Now he was interested. Terry could help him and Cassia with their ghost hunt. Though, he had to make sure he was 100% worthy before joining their spy team. "Oh, so you must know ALL about ghosts...?" He asked, stroking his imaginary beard. He'd learn the basics before he mentioned any of his missions. That was what all the best spies did.
"I'm not scared of it." Theodore insisted immediately. Yeah, he kinda was, but more importantly, he was grossed out by it. He didn't want to WASH mucky creatures. That was gross.
He would bath later. Bath for a long while.
Theo squinted his eyes as he washed underneath the legs and in between all the cracks and stuff. It was SO gross, and oh, there were the flaky bits. The second year could feel the worm creeping back up. "I feel sick." He muttered to Terry, dropping the washcloth IN TO the bucket. Well, at least he'd attempted to wash in all of the soil-filled areas. And now to rinse it... ew... ew.... ew.... more spells? Theo tried it, "Aguamenti." Squirt, squirt. Darn, he was getting GOOD at that one.
What step was next? Sigh.

After she...shook the crab in Hannah's face, she set him back into the bucket, squinting once again at the directions on the board...Oh! She was done! But no! Artmeis was going now! "I have to say goodbye, now, Artemis. But I promise to come visit you..as long as you promise not shoot me with your...butt." Yep. His BUTT. Elliot still hated the word. She placed him back in his cage...and placed the dark cloth over the cage..hmm..was it dark enough in there? Poor Artemis would now be lonel-
WAIT.
WHY was Elliot caring soooo much about this...FIRECRAB? It didn't make sense! Elliot barely cared about PEOPLE, much less firecrabs! What was the world coming to?!
The blonde picked up her supplies and went to go wash them...her mind spinning...
Love? Love was such a strong word. "Tolerate. I think tolerate would be a better word." Then she shoved the fire crab in her face. Had she lost her mind? "Watch it Morganzo." It could have burned her face off for merlins sake.
Glancing at the board Hannah learned that she now had to rinse the crab off. She pointed her wand and the crab. "Aguamenti." She moved her wand all over the crab to make sure that she didn't miss any spots.
When she was satisfied she hollered "Finite!" Now she needed to inspect the crab. She wanted to make sure that there wasn't anything wrong with him because she was so not getting in trouble if her crab decided to get itself hurt. She looked over his jewels and they looked nice and shiny. Everything looked intact and she didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.
Alright his firecrab looked pretty happy swimming its legs about in the water, but a quick glance at Louisa's bucket couldnt be anymore more different. Hadnt he known that the crustacean was still alive one would think its been petrified because it was so scared to move.
Reaching out for the brush he started scrubbing under the rim of the shell first, since it was already underwater.
" like spare brushes? buckets? water? money

It's truly like the star on top of the Christmas tree if we want to get into metaphors... You're welcome to touch it," he offered, regretting doing so immediately as he realised Vicker's presence. He had forgotten that these two had a weird... thing. Whatever it was.
"The only thing they'll be flinging at me is phone numbers and thank you cards," Elijah responded to his friend's retort, throwing in a wink there also.[/color]
Anyone could tell that Louisa's Fire Crab was immensely grateful to the distraction causing this forceful human to divide her attention between its pretty shell and that other distraction. Louisa, however, screwed her face up when Elijah offered that she could actually TOUCH the thing. "Ew! Let's not get carried away, shall we?" Also he just... explained too much about it that she HAD to stare at him for a few seconds longer before snorting and going back to her terrified Fire Crab. "And thanks for corrupting my image of Christmas tree with that metaphor." Again, ew.
"Did I mention your friend is dorky? And how exactly is he getting along with Aspen?" She was addressing Vickers now, her bristle brush was thrown away and a washcloth was in its place. "He must be really twisted, or really dumb." Averting her gaze down to the creature in the bucket, she took off her gloves entirely and started wiping the shell, still talking. "You know, I've had my own experience with that Odessa and they never ended well. Not on my side, anyways." No shame in admitting that to VICKERS. Lifting the washcloth off the shell and dragging it downward to one of the Fire Crab's legs. "Last time was not that bad though, in History class. And minus the staring. She creeps me out with that smile and gaze, it's like she can read your mind. Ugh." The creature might've been a little tooooo rubbed.
Lifting the washcloth off it, Louisa did see some flakes on it. Eew, again. Leftover skin. Okay, so she had to rinse the Fire Crab. Uhh.... she's not doing it with her bare hands, of course. Putting the washcloth aside, Louisa's eyes met the Fire Crab's and as if on cue it started to make those terrified sounds again coz it knew something not-so-gentle was about to happen. The girl gabbed both sides of the bucket and started rocking it so that the water covering the creature's butt washed over its shell. The smart Fire Crab held on to the slippery walls of the bucket on its own and guess what, Louisa did consider catching it if it fell off. She wasn't heartless!
But it didn't so all was good.

...and on that note, Sierra was three-fourths of the way done with cleaning her fire crab. See, it wasn't so bad working without a partner. It was much less stressful, and she didn't have to worry about waiting for somebody to catch up or do their part. Yeah. She sort of liked this whole concept of working alone.
She continued to rinse the fire crab until she was sure he would float away if she put anymore water on him. She ended the spell the put her wand back into its holster. She leaned down and got a closer look at the fire crab. Hmm...irregularities? Flaking? Cracks? Discharge? Discoloration? Nope. None here. This fire crab was perfect. Of course it was. It belonged to her.
Well, step four was a breeze. Just one more step, and she'd be done.

Grabbing a washcloth, Kat rubbed the crab's belly (Does it have one?) and the other parts that need cleaning (and are listed in the instructions, ya know.) She saw as the soil was starting to loosen. The sight was carrying the Snake's thoughts away but dismissed more of her thoughts so as to finish her CoMC work.
Finally, she rinsed her Fire Crab so the dirt is gone. Just hoping it won't start shooting fire... any minute... any second.
Tag watched as Kat was on a roll right now. He kinda just awkwardly stood there watching her and inspected the fire crab a little closer when the Professor came by but at the moment she had done most of everything. Until at last she was done rinsing the fire crab and now he looked up at the board.
He continued to rinse the fire crab a bit more thoroughly and when he thought the shell and skin looked shiny he stopped and then really began to work. Very hesitantly he began to softly poke the fire crab and lean forward to check for any discoloration. There was one part of the crab that felt really soft. Like it felt almost like jello, Tag shivered when he continued to poke the spot as instructed.
"This part seems to be really squishy. I don't know if that's good. I mean it should be a little squishy right? Should we tell the Professor, I'm not sure if this is a good squishy." He said looking up at Kat as he checked other spots. Every where else seemed fine but that spot seemed very odd to him.
Queen of Typos | The OTHER OTHER Roro | WICKED is Good
Cassia was distracted again but this time it wasn't her fault. It was the older students' fault it was them who always turned the lessons into chaos by taking of their shirts and that kinda stuff. Cassia wondered if she was going to turn into a loony when she got older. She hoped not.
The second-year looked at the board to remember what she was going to do. Oh massaging. She reached for the washcloth whish she already wetted and started massaging the shell first. Ewww…..what were those things that are coming out. flakes. Guh..she definitely deserves a jewel after this. Cassia removed the loose flakes and kept massaging proceeding to the under body and tail . And more flakes.
Cassia unintentionally wrinkled her forehead while massaging 'cos it wasn't so enjoyable to see flakes getting loose while massaging. Yeah the snake enjoyed seeing new creatures and knowing about them but cleaning wasn't always cool. Though last term when they cleaned the dragons she enjoyed it. At that time maybe she complained a bit but at least no flakes were falling.
And now to the SIX legs. Cassia eyed the creature. "What do you do with six legs?!" it wasn't a big creature so two or three would've been enough, no? Not like the creature had any choice but Cassia wondered if the crab gets to use all of its legs everyday. Maybe it uses different ones every other day to make them rest? Yeah that must be it.
Still massaging, Cassia's bangs fell into her eyes, she hated when that happens especially when her hands are occupied. Guh! She shook her head trying to push them aside or back. But it didn't work. And so she decided that it was enough massaging.
She put the washcloth aside and flailed her hands in the air to dry them . they were still a bit wet but she could push her bangs back now. And now to the next step.

So now Midir was all wet, inspected, and had gotten its shell all brushed and clean (-ish). Kendall was happy with the job she'd done so far, even as she was still amused by the fact her fire crab looked half-asleep. At least that means Midir is relaxed. Not all scared and likely to do anything bad, right?, she thought, reaching for the washcloth that was still waiting in her supplies. That was the next step, as per the cool floaty instructions Professor Newlin had conjured, so that was what she was going to do next. That and try to figure out what kind of jewels little Midir had in its shell, because that was important information. Along with her earlier curiosity on how they were attached just so she'd know she couldn't accidentally knock one off or something. She was pretty sure that would go against her promise not to hurt the little creature after all, and she didn't like breaking promises.
Dunking the washcloth into the water-filled bucket, as the water didn't look too dirty yet, she leaned over to speak to Midir again. Just to tell it what she was doing next, and conveniently putting herself below the spewing flames from the garlic-breath Puff although she'd tilted her head to glance upward for a minute at the whoosh of heat. "Midir, ignore that. We're safe from crazy flames here," she finally said, attention back on her fire crab. Who had woken up a little. "I'm going to use this washcloth to make sure we get all the icky little specks of dirt off you, okay? Just stay relaxed, and then you'll be all sparkly clean afterward." And probably feel as awesome as it should feel with an awesome faerie name. Either way, she started massaging the wet cloth over the shell, poking into all the little nooks and crannies around the jewels before moving to massage the little crab's body and legs. Occasionally rinsing little skin flakes and dirt from the washcloth before she finished. "Okay, you'll feel more water now, Midir, but you're nice and clean," she said then, taking her wand out after setting the used cloth aside and casting Aguamenti to rinse any other flakes from Midir's skin and shell. Almost done.

Woot! She was on the final step which meant that she was that much closer to getting the heck outta here and Hannah always looked forward to her classes ending. She looked at the board once more to make sure that she didn't miss any steps.
Ok time to put her wet crab back in his little crab cage. Hannah suddenly wondered if her crab was a boy or a girl and how you could tell. "Professor how can you tell a boy crab from a girl crab?" She was very curious.
With the crab back in his cage, Hannah collected the dark cloth and layed it on top of the cage. It was time for the crab to go to sleep she guessed. She gathered up her supplies and rinsed them all off and out. She was finally done and truth be told she kind of enjoyed the lesson...of course she would deny it if asked.

Ella couldn't help but be worried about Martin, especially with his big crack. Poor fire crab. Frown. "Just cause you're cracked doesn't mean you're not as good as the other fire crabs, Martin." The third year said seriously, smiling at the creature. Seriously, maybe Martin was like this epic fire crab warrior and this crack was a battle scar from when he epically saved his entire fire crab family! It totally could have happened. Yup.
Looking at her notes, Ella saw that the next step was to return Martin to his cage. Frown. Butshewashavingsomuchfunwithhim! With a heavy heart, she made sure he was still wet and started the short journey to the cage. "Martin, I want you to know that you did brilliantly." BEAM. "For a fire crab you're quite a gentleman." And the third year bent down, placing Martin back into his cage before closing it securely. With one more small wave at the creature, Ella covered the cage with the dark cloth. Sigh. Farewell, Martin.
Walking back over to her supplies, Ella removed her wand and began cleaning everything, making sure it was ready whenever someone would use them next. When she was finished, she took a seat on the ground and crossed her legs, watching as steam started emitting from Martin's cage. Hmm...Was he missing her too?

While...while still wet?!
Wait...had the crab...
Oh, good. No, it hadn't dried out. It was still wet. Sierra would have been mad had she had to repeat something just because the crab had dried out.
Now. How was she supposed to get this thing out without getting herself seriously injured? Hmm. Well, it hadn't attacked her yet, which didn't necessarily mean it wouldn't, but...that was at least a good sign.
She reached in there and scooped it up lightning fast and put it back into its cage. WHEW. She reached for the cover and draped it back over the cage.
DONE. Well, at least with the crab. She set to work rinsing off her supplies and giving them a good cleaning.

Now for the rubbing with the cloth. Moving from his squatting to a kneeling position to be more comfortable dealing with the low bucket, Gideon retrieved said cloth from the diminishing pile of items he had to work with.He dipped it in the water around the fire crab to wetten it before beginning to rub, using the same circuling technique he had been using with the brush. Upon glancing at his notes on the steps, he saw the mention of doing the undersides. Dare it try it again? However rukus from the other side of the class caught his attention.
What was with that Huffie boy?
He hadn't caught the process by which it had happened or what came before but once again, a certain badger was shirtless. And blaming the poor creature he was currently holding for it. Aye...riiiight. Gideon was sure Elijah had done something on purpose, the prefect shaking his head at the scene. Taking his wand out once more, he cast a quick spirt of "aguamenti" to lightly rinse his crab.
MEEERRRRLIIIINNNN! OWWWWWWWWW!
What the... Gideon mused turning at the scream only to spot the same Hufflepuff with a fire-crab-sized nipple ring. Feeling his leg get wet, he realized the water spell was still working. "Finite," he quickly cast so he didn't get soaked. Now where was he...ah yes...a boy and his pet fire-crab.

So Midir was all nice and clean, and Kendall could finally get a really good look at the sparkly jewels in her fire crab's shell. At least, that was what the next step was, as far as she was concerned. Looking at the jewels was part of inspection, wasn't it? Either way, she went back to bending over the bucket to peer at the shell and therefore the jewels. Can fire crabs have opals in their shell?, she wondered. She couldn't exactly ask Midir, but that's what they looked like. Kinda milky but shot through with sparkly fire. It was a guess either way, and she filed the question away in her head to ask the professor later. She figured Professor Newlin would know which fire crab was Midir that way, at least, and she continued inspecting the creature for anything odd. So far, she hadn't seen anything.
Until her nail caught in the tiniest of cracks near the edge of the shell, and she leaned closer to peer at it. It was practically invisible. "Midir, do you feel this?," she asked, poking her nail into the crack again. The little fire crab turned his head to look at her, but didn't react past that. "Okay. Maybe this isn't a crack. Or maybe it's just not bad, but you need to be careful. I don't want to hear that you hurt yourself," she said to the creature, using her hands to scoop water over its back again. They were supposed to keep them wet, as far as she remembered. And she hadn't found anything other than that tiny crack thing, so that meant it was almost time to put Midir to bed again. What else would they do all covered up by black cloth? She'd sleep, at least, and Midir still looked really relaxed.

Queen of Typos | The OTHER OTHER Roro | WICKED is Good
The second-year slythrin sighed looking down at the fire crab. "You know I think you're clean now but I still have to rinse you," She said . "But itf you think you're done with your bath raise one of your legs." She said peering widening her eyes and watching him more closely.
WATCH. WATCH…BLINK..BLINK..NOTHING.
Cassia frowned at the creature, "Fine you seem to be enjoying this. I'll rinse you." She snapped at it. Sure why would the creature not be enjoying this bath. It might be thinking, if it even thinks, that this is the best day of its life. With the massaging and rinsing. Though Cassia had to admit it was fun getting to deal with creatures. But she won't admit it loudly because the creature my get cocky.
Uncrossing her legs because they were starting to get numb, Cassia brought the bucket closer to her because rinsing needed more concentration. Stretching her short legs she rolled her sleeves up and started rinsing the fire crab.
Rinse ,rinse, rinse.
The twelve-years old was so carried away in what she was doing that she wasn't noticing anything happening around her. She'll get to catch up with the craziness once she finished cleaning. Hopefully there would still be time before class ended.
Sticking her tongue out unintentionally while rinsing 'cos Cassia was now sooooo concentrating and she couldn't remember the last time she concentrated that much. And this probably won't happen until another two months pass. Because she needed to refill her concentration juice…..whatever that was.
Not only was she rinsing, nope! She also paid attention to any irregularities, discolorations or any unordinary thing. Oh yes she was doing exactly as instructed and she even understood the instructions without needing someone to explain to her. Isn'tshe becoming a better student ,not so smarter but BETTER that when she was a firstie .Waaaay better.
The second-year even found a rhythm to her moves…..inhale…rinse..rinse…exhale… and soo on she went. So awesome she was.
Cassia didn't know how much time had passed while she was rinsing but it seemed enough specially that the fire carb started cringing and moving in her hands. What it got bored now!
"Don't worry we're done rinsing." Grin. And she had to admit that she was grateful for the little creatire for not breathing or farting any fire or heating the water. If it proved anything then it was that Cassia was agreat person at dealing with fire crabs. Eeeeep.
And now to the last step.
