As you make your way down to the pasture for the first Care of Magical Creatures lesson of the term, and if this is not your first time visiting the place, you'll notice that the grassy area looks.. well, different. No creatures, besides the ones that Professor Newlin has hidden in the many cages scattered about can be seen.. or not seen, and how could you possibly miss the long covered table off to the side near the shed? What is in the cages and under the cover will stay a mystery.. for now.
Have yourself a seat on the grass, or stand if you'd rather! Not too close to those cages, though. Professor Newlin is there, laying on her stomach in the middle of the area, an open jar next to her and her finger stuck deep in the dirt.
There are worms in the dirt, after all.
OOC:This lesson will start later, later, laaaaater today. And I'm so nervous! The lesson has started! Please don't announce late arrivals. And I'm still nervous!
post 5! cause Lee told me to post and not wait, heh. Awkward!turtle ahead!

Kurumi was letting her fire crab soak in his bucket of fresh water while she ran her finger over his rubies, checking for any other cracks or other problems there might be. She supposed that there was a little softness around the crack in his shell...but she wasn't sure what all to do about that. Professor Newlin would have to come over and take a look.
And she probably should have named her fire crab, since they had bonded and everything. Only then she was going to get attached and want to keep him and...
Wait...could she? Just for the remainder of her time at Hogwarts that is. Raising her hand to get the professor's attention, she was about to ask when...

Kurumi's finger froze in place over a ruby and her head SNAPPED to the side to look at Aspen. Was she.... Did she.... Kurumi wasn't even going to comment on how she had just shoved her poor fire crab under a bucket. She was too focused on Aspen's lips and the words that had just come out of them.
"Are you suggesting that we all take our shirts off?" she squeaked, her right hand tugging uncomfortably on her collar NOT as though she were going to actually do it, more that she really needed some breathing room right now.
SPOILER!!: Instructions!
Step One:✓
Fill the bucket up with enough water to make sure the rear of the Fire Crab is completely covered. While letting soak for several minutes, lightly rub the shell with your fingertips to feel for any soft spots or cracks. (Soaking will allow any buildup, caused by its flames, to loosen)
Step Two:✓
With a soft bristled brush, gently scrub the entire shell using a light, circular motion. Pay special attention to any areas with buildup, mostly around their colored jewels and under the rim of the shell. Be careful not to brush areas covered in scales. They tend to be sensitive.
Step Three:✓
Gently massage the Fire Crab shell, under body, legs and tail with a soft, wet washcloth. This will loosen most soil. Don't worry if small flakes are released from the shell! This is just normal shedding. Rinse the Fire Crab to remove flakes.
Step Four:✓
Rinse the Fire Crab thoroughly. Closely inspect the shell for any irregularities, such as softening, excessive flaking, cracks, unusual discharge, or discolorations. Discoloration would occur on the jewels.
Step Five:
While still wet, place the Fire Crab back in the cage and cover with the cage with a dark colored cloth (the ones that covered it earlier). Rinse out supplies.

Time to replace the crab back into the cage. "Time to go back in your cage, Mr. Krabbs,'' Jory told the crab as he carefully picked him up. "Please don't shoot flames at me,'' he added. It's shell was sort of cold since it was still wet.
With caution, the boy placed the crab in the cage and then got the dark cloth. "Bye, Mr. Krabbs,'' he said. "It was nice working with you.'' He spread the cloth over the cage. Now to clean up.
With water once again flowing from his wand tip, Jory started to rinse his materials. Bucket, washcloth and brush. He was done!
So with the pesky poltergeist zooming away for his next rendezvous with mischief Vickers finally turns his attention back to eying his girlfriend giving the Fire Crab a bath. He raised the cage up slightly to look at the Magical crustacean-- it was just finishing off the worms. Errrr right.
"Lets go over there...." he nudged his head at Louisa towards a freer spot not crowded with students. He set the supplies on the ground as well as the caged firecrab, then brought out his dragon hide gloves and slipped them snugly onto his hands.
Just as he was unhooking the door of the cage to take the firecrab out his gaze falls upon the Ravenclaw brunette that has her bucket standing in a way where it was obvious it could not carry water. "What is Aspen doing?" he murmured
Louisa shot a disapproving look after Peeves and followed Vickers to the spot he indicated. Their supplies were already set over there, she grabbed a pair of gloves and slipped them in eying the Fire Crab in the cage all the while. Untill Vickers whispered something, "Don't look at her. She's not one to be looked, talked or approached. Too many troubles." Firsthand experience here.
Kneeling before the cage and very slowly, Louisa opened the cage's door... the Fire Crab inside started paying attention to the human person invading his territory. The Ravenclaw froze in place and let it eye her from head to knee (coz she was kneeling, get it? Heh). "I.. don't.. understand... the wanting..." Her voice was low, ".. to.. deal... with... fire related creatures." When the Fire Crab didn't make any sign of grilling her, Louisa summoned the bucket - which zoomed in too fast and hit her in the ribcage eliciting an 'OW!' which caused the creature to start to freak out and make some weird sounds.
The bad thing was that this particular Ravenclaw had no enough patience, she moved around the cage, lifted it off the ground and brought it over the bucket, trying to dump the Fire Crab into it. The poor creature started sliding down, and just when it reached the edge, it hung on and started making disapproving sounds before Louisa casually nudged the cage one last time and DUMP! the Fire Crab was inside the bucket, rear first. Quickly, and before the creature could eve blink or recover from the harmless fall, the Ravenclaw started filling the bucket with water, a slight smirk on her face.
... they were supposed to lightly rub the shell now, right? Okay... the Fire Crab didn't look happy with her at all now though.. do they bite? Claw? She took the gloves off one hand which will be the one checking for any cracks. With her gloved one, Louisa kept the creature's head turned away from her bare exploratory hand, rubbing geeeeeently. Because this professor sounded as overprotective as Bentley did with her plants.
She looked over at Vickers to see how he was doing so far. Elijah and Aspen were somewhere nearby too but Louisa was awfully happy to stay away from any kind of commotion in this particular class, with unpredictable creatures around and all that..

Seeing that the crab has soaked up well he understood that it's time for the second step. He picked up a soft bristled brush and continued to read the instructions. He looked around to see how the others were doing as he didn't want to do anything wrong to annoy the crab. He carefully scrubbed the entire shell following the instructions.

Now she had to "massage" the stupid this grabbing the washcloth she soaked it with water from her wand since the water in her crabby crab bin was already gross and she began to massage the dumb creature starting with it's shell removing any dirt that was brushed up from the brushing.
she then moved to under it's body and ughhhhhh it was grosss and weird feeling and she didnt like it, she rubbed it quickly an moved onto it's arms and junk moving as quickly yet efficiently as she could to get it tip top cleaned and ready to go be a fire crab else where. After she was done she looked down into her water and saw flakes & dirt and gross nastyness floating about.. "eww" she said simply

So far, Kendall hadn't seen any cracks or anything in Midir's shell. At least, nothing that didn't look like it shouldn't be there, since she was starting to wonder how the jewels were attached to the shell. If they were separate, that would mean they were attached somehow, and that meant that some cracks had to be okay. Dirt in them, not so much, but that wasn't the next step. No, once she had made sure that nothing was wrong with her little fire crab's shell, more massage was called for. According to the cool floating instructions Professor Newlin had conjured. Maybe she could ask about that later too, when she stayed behind to do whatever she could talk the professor into letting her do if she wasn't needed for a worm roundup. She continually murmured reassuring things to Midir, either way. She didn't want to end up dealing with boiling water if it got scared and made fire after all.
However, her fire crab seemed to have bonded with her or something, seeing as she could see the creature's eyes following her as she'd continued working, picking up the soft brush that had been provided and dipping it into the water a little. That wasn't part of the instructions, but she figured it would soften the bristles even more. "Okay, little Midir. I'm just going to brush you now, and I still promise it won't hurt. It'll be nice and get you even prettier," she said, starting to move the brush in circles over the shell, going around each jewel carefully and even on top of them. Moving over the entire shell's surface, even the part that was half-underwater and smiling as the little fire crab's eyes started closing even as she scrubbed a bit harder over any areas that seemed more dirty than the others. It was so cute and little and not-scary. She could see why people wanted to keep them around, and not let them go extinct.

Now that it was all done, Sarah took dripping wet Canon out of the 'tub' as carefully as possible. She did not want anything to literally backfire. She placed it in its cage rather swiftly but gentally... She was not ready to use the 'stop, drop and roll' method she had learnt from the poster at her muggle cousins house.
She then placed the cloth on top of the cage... it was then that Canon backfired... probably not so happy at being put in his cage. Yet nothing caught on fire, so everything was great.
She took out her wand and cast the spell AGAIN and rinsed out all the utensils carefully. She wandered if they carried any germs

He needed help. Much like their new Professor...
Anyway, next step! Dropping the sponge, he carefully picked the washcloth up and moved it towards the water. Dunking it down into the steamy bath, Dylan began rubbing it along the crab's body. The task was so minuscule that he didn't have to focus too much attention towards it. Nope, meaning he could focus on other things...
Like the way Bee has just wiped the back of her hand across her forehead...Dylan was sure she didn't realize how pretty she was...sitting there with that look of total concentration on her face. She was so beautiful...Really...
COUGH.
Back to the fire crab...*BLINK*
Making sure to get up under the little guy's body, his arms and legs, Dylan felt a little disgusted as tiny particles come off in the water. The Professor had mentioned that this might happen...but still. Just...ick. Which reminded him...
He needed to clean Charlotte later.
"You doing okay over there, beautiful?" Yep, he'd ask...but not look. Looking was hard to...stop doing.
She'd just finish brushing the fire crab when she heard Dylan asking if she was doing okay over at her side. A quick but genuine smile passed by her lips upon hearing the endearment. Okay, maybe it was super duper for him to that, but what can she say? Compliments, whether intentional or not, direct or indirect from basically anyone but especially from him still gets her all the time. Yet he didn't see that. Eh? Eh? "Yep! I've got a well-behaved baby here Dy.." she replied, running her fingers once more about it's gem-filled shell. "Errr...you?" This time she raised her head and looked at him.
Then off to the next step.
Bye-bye brush, hello washcloth.
The Ravenclaw dipped the cloth into the bucket with water, making sure her hand was far from the creature's rear in the process. After doing so, she lightly and gently rubbed it on it's shell, then lifting it carefully somewhat, she massaged the parts under it's covering, it's legs, then it's tail which she had quite a hard time locating. Upon contact with the cloth, its tail quivered as though it was afraid to be touched and it's rear released squirts of flame yet the pressure it made showed on how the water on that side of the bucket made random bubblings.
"Sorry babe.." It's tiny tail still cringing to get away from her fingers.

Kat checked for what step two was. She was done with step one. So yay for her, that means no shooting of fire all over the place right? Grabbing the brush given to them, Kat needed to rub the crab. Seriously? She gently, really gently, rubbed the shell in a light circular motion. Carefully rubbing them, she paid attention to the jewels of the crab... ooohhh shiny!
The part near the scales was the tricky part. They weren't supposed to rub that part so Kat slowly but surely rubbed the not scaley part. Wiw. Looking at Tag's progress, Kat just smiled. "If you need help, you could always ask me for a hand."
Now... for step 3.

He listened to Louisa's mumbling about Aspen. Well had he only not remembered what happened in DADA he may have gone through the length of defending Aspen. But he did remember, which had this Ravenclaw reviewing all the other troubling incidents with the other brunette Ravenclaw. And well.... it wasnt looking good on a rep standpoint.
He sighed quietly and focused his attention back to his crab that was still in the cage. "Come on now buddy, bath time." he murmured as he tried coaxing the fire crab to come out. But he heard Louisa yelp in pain and he spun his head quickly towards her again. What happened what? He never did figure it out and didnt get a chance to ask because now she was shaking the firecrab out of its cage!
Allll his Creatures instincts was kicking into gear. "Uhm Lou-- " he started thinking of offering to take the crab out gently when the crustacean finally fell out of the cage and landed with an unceremonious plop into the bucket. Merlin it was like watching it being readied for bouillabaisse o___O
He turned his attention back to the fire crab still in the cage in his hand "Ok buddy, you can come out now.... or I can ask her to do that for you." he murmured as he nudged his head towards the Head Girl.
Yep, firecrab comin' out all willingly now.
Gently he lay the firecrab at the bottom of the bucket and took his wand, uttering the Aguamenti charm and allowed the water to rise until the crustacean was almost floating. Making sure its rear end was in the water he let it soak around while he made the initial swipe through of his fingers over its shell, feeling for cracks or such. So far his crab was A-Ok, and seems to enjoy the water as he watched its shelled legs move this way and that.

Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes
Aspen turned her fire crab's rear away from everyone for now. She'd get him out and squirt him again in a second. Maybe work on his aim again.
For now though...
...and with that little keep your shirt on warning from Dragon-Bait Hollingberry.
Well.
"Yeah. Yeah, vampires fly. Like bats. Just like bats. Basically are bats. But... you just have to practice. That's why I have a bat for a pet, my Egbert. We practice." Not flying, but they practiced lots of things. So, not TECHNICALLY a lie.
"Clothes aren't aerodynamically friendly though. I heard that removing a shirt can also help with... you know.... moving your bowels. Less restrictive." She'd probably heard that? If not, she had NOW...from herself. So again, not a lie...ish.
Plus, she wanted Dragon Bait to faint again and for Elijah to take his shirt off and set himself butt on fire. Aspen was learning SO MUCH this year.
She turned her bucket over so that her crab was UNDER it. He was looking stressed so he could just chill under there for a while.
"Oooooohhhhhh," Elijah said with a tone of understanding as Aspen explained the ways behind Vamp!Flying (bet Vindictus couldn't teach THAT), and it struck him in regards to how stupid he was not to have made the connection between Aspen and her bat. It all made sense, now.
"Take off my shirt...?" Elijah hesitated. The last time his shirt had been off in a class it had ended extremely badly, but that was because Magnus was a drama queen who lived in a box under the Hogwarts bridge. Perhaps this new Professor would enjoy a pec flex? His little grey cells got to work and decided he couldn't be blamed if it wasn't his fault he was topless (not that it had helped much in Transfiguration, but hey ho).
SO, when the Professor's back was turned, he quickly removed his shirt and threw it on the ground, casting a quick incendio to it and setting it alight. Removing his firecrab from it's bucket, he quickly faced it's rear to where the flames were now eating his shirt up. He was glad he had worn a crappy shirt today since he expected to get messy in this class. "Ohhhh deaaaar. Look at what has haappppeeeneeedd," Elijah feigned surprise, "Don't worry about it little guy, these this happen." He gave his little fire crab a small pat to show the Professor how friendly he was being despite the fire crab obviously setting him on fire and FORCING him to remove his shirt.
"Now what...?"

Kurumi spoke up then, obviously having listened into their conversation. Elijah gave a small stifle of laughter as the panicked expression consumed her face as she believed they ALL had to take their shirts off. Of course, only vampires did, so that they could fly more easily... DUH.
However, the complete boy in Elijah just haaaad to go and say, "Yes," and a pec flex to you Miss Hollingberry! Take TWO Miss Hollingberry!
This should really be the new uniform.
Elijah put his crab back in water and as he waited for Aspen's next set of instructions, he gently rubbed the crab's shell a little so that he looked as if he was attempting the task. The crab's face was, yet again, expressionless... maybe a BIT happier looking. But, he was topless, now, after all. Maybe he had a girl crab?

Now that Martin was safely inside the bucket, Ella pulled out her wand and pointed at the fire crab, giving it a reassuring look. "Don't you worry Martin, I'm just going to clean you up a bit." And with a small smile, the third year started to fill up her bucket with water, watching as it poured from the tip of her wand. When the water reached just over the rear of the fire crab, Ella stopped the flow and placed her wand in her pocket again. "There! Great job, Martin." He hadn't even tried to shoot fire at her or anything! BEAM.
While Martin was soaking, Ella whistled, trying to prepare herself for rubbing the little guy's shell. Sure he was being well behaved now, but she wasn't positive he wouldn't try anything if she touched him. Some people were sensitive about stuff like that...
After taking a deep breath, the third year made sure her gloves were removed and dipped her hands into the water, gently placing them on Martin's shell. She rubbed the shell with her finger tips, feeling around for said spots or cracks. MEEP. Martin had a BIG crack along the right side of his shell! Frown. Was he a fighting fire crab or something? ...Or worse! Was he bullied by the other fire crabs? Ella frowned, looking down at the little creature with concern. "It's okay, Martin. We all have cracks." Erm...and she didn't mean that literally, either.
...And WHY was that Elijah character shirtless...again? The third year rolled her eyes at the older badger, trying not to be distracted by his beautiful bod. HOW was she meant to concentrate when he insisted on turning this class into some kind of shirtless modeling opportunity for himself. Sheesh. He was SUCH a weirdo. And his shirt had burst into flames? Right...he probably was going to claim it had been due to his overwhelming hotness or something. GAG.

With a soft bristled brush, gently scrub the entire shell using a light, circular motion. Pay special attention to any areas with buildup, mostly around their colored jewels and under the rim of the shell. Be careful not to brush areas covered in scales. They tend to be sensitive.
Step Three:
Gently massage the Fire Crab shell, under body, legs and tail with a soft, wet washcloth. This will loosen most soil. Don't worry if small flakes are released from the shell! This is just normal shedding. Rinse the Fire Crab to remove flakes.
Step Four:
Rinse the Fire Crab thoroughly. Closely inspect the shell for any irregularities, such as softening, excessive flaking, cracks, unusual discharge, or discolorations. Discoloration would occur on the jewels.
Step Five:
While still wet, place the Fire Crab back in the cage and cover with the cage with a dark colored cloth (the ones that covered it earlier). Rinse out supplies.

She picked up the brush...and began to rub it circularly...the crab was VERY squirmy...was she doing it wrong?! She didn't want her hand burned or anything! "Hold still, Crab!" she said angrily...ooooh...she should name it! "Professor, do they have names? Or can I name him?" Because Elliot was starting to like this thing. And not just because of the jewels...though that was an added bonus! Haha!
Brush brush bruuuush! she hummed...inside her head....and she tried to get all those icky build ups clear...poor crab was probably so fiery and angry because he wasn't clean! Well, no fear, Crab, Elliot AWESOMETASTICAL Morganzo is heereeee! To save the day and give you a BATH! "There, you look good as new. And I think I'll name you..." Hmmm....she didn't know...she was never good at naming things. "Artemis!" YES IT WAS SO PERFECCCTTT!
Looking back at the board...she tried to read the next instructions...stupid suuuuun was getting in her eyes...uggghhh!
"Yes their jewels are pretty." and that was about the only thing that was pretty about them. Yeah they were pretty cool looking, but Hannah wasn't that impressed.
Ok now she had to brush the fire crab. Hannah grabbed her brush...honestly she was a little nervous about brushing the thing that could shoot fire out of his butt. Sure the professor had said that the water would contain the fire shooting creature, but Hannah had her doubts. She was sure that if she irritated it enough that it would find a way to burn. Hannah would...if she was a fire crab and all.
Hannah put her long blonde hair into a pony tail...just in case things got real. She took the brush and started to scrub the crab lightly in a circular motion. "It's ok crabby." Merlin, now she was soothing the blasted creature. Oh well...whatever it took to not get burned.
She paid special attention to the jewels. Oh yeah she scrubbed, and scrubbed until she had them sisters shining. They were looking good. Maybe this was a pretty cool crab after all.
Wait. Was Elliot naming her crab? She shot her a friend a look. Well, technically Hannah didn't have much room to talk because she had just called hers crabby.
Scrub, scrub, scrub. She steered clear of the scaled...no need to mess up a good thing she had going with the crab.

Grabbing a washcloth, Kat rubbed the crab's belly (Does it have one?) and the other parts that need cleaning (and are listed in the instructions, ya know.) She saw as the soil was starting to loosen. The sight was carrying the Snake's thoughts away but dismissed more of her thoughts so as to finish her CoMC work.
Finally, she rinsed her Fire Crab so the dirt is gone. Just hoping it won't start shooting fire... any minute... any second.

Her Fire Crab looked purely terrified of the next step, it didn't want to make any more clanking, ya know. She smirked when Vickers used her as a threat to his creature, squinting her eyes at his Fire Crab as motivation. It worked. Heh. Now on to the next step, Louisa reached out for the bristle brush with her ungloved hand and maneuvered the creature's head with her gloved one. She didn't want it to accidentally drool, bite, lick or get in contact with her skin at all. It was enough that she dealt with its other body secretions.
Very gently, and with an awed face, she started moving her brush circularly and very gently over the jewels on its shell, around them, and carefully trying to reach to those tiny kind-of-hidden areas. So intent and focused on her work, Louisa's head suddenly snapped away from her bucket to where she heard someone loudly say something, the flicker of fire was casting some fiery light and sound all over the place.
Expectantly, it was the curly headed Huffie fraud. His Fire Crab was in his hands with a bonfire in front of him. His shirt? Coz he wasn't wearing any. Louisa cocked an eyebrow, a smirk starting to form on her mouth. "Your friend's a dork," she chuckled addressing Vickers. Then she spoke louder, "Nice bellybutton, curlyhead!" Actually she didn't really see his bellybutton, but Louisa figured it delivered her point of underestimating the boy's manly appearance. Although he DID look good without his shirt on, but sorry, she'd seen better abs, COUGHvickersCOUGH, so this was just a funny scene to her.
Back to scrubbing and cleaning... and dodging the scaled area.

Not that fire crabs were seriously dangerous or anything, but it was good to know if she was standing next to a boy that would challenge a hippogriff or something. She was small enough to be considered bird food after all. "It makes your eyes go all sparkly." she added before she could stop herself. Ugh how was is possible she could be this lame with boys? Her cousins were masters of the opposite sex. They could have a man praying for them to walk all over them in their Louboutins, and she was telling a boy his eyes were sparkly when he puffed his chest out to pick a fight with a fire crab.
There had to be a manuel for the socially inept right?
Her attention was pulled back to Richard as she wanted for him to shake her hand. Harlow stood steady as the boy eyed her up and down again. This would have been a perfect time for biology to have shown up and filled out the rest of her frame, but no such luck. She gave Richard the firmest handshake she could with her little hand. Though his hand felt like a baseball mitt to her. "Pleased to meet you Richard." she offered. She inched away from the fire crab cage a little. The thing was eyeing her and since it was bigger than her she figured it was better to not know if she was flame resistant just yet. She looked up at Richard, "Oh um well I don't spend too much time in the common room. The furniture is a little big for us pint sized Riddles." She smiled getting some of the old Riddle back.
Again the girl made him laugh. It was a kind and short one this time though as for some reason he liked the question. He stared at the fire crab a bit before moving his gaze back on the girl. ''Sometimes.'' he said ''Just to let people, or things at this case, know who is the boss.'' Yeah, that was right. He was always the boss and he was ready to show it to anyone who would challenge him about that and he would not care if they would be hurt in the progress. It was not his problem after all.
He was about to stare back at the crab to see if it was daring to make a move when Harlow made that comment about him. It kinda made him forget about the creature and what it would dare to do. Was that a compliment? If it was, it was a different one from the ones he got so far but that did not mean he would not appreciate it. Quite the opposite, he liked it. It looked like the girl was doing some progress on warming up. ''Well...i think being sparkly would look better with your pretty eyes.'' That was it and he knew he was right. He was always right, after all. ''Pleased to meet you too, Harlow.'' Oh he was. He did not know anyone else who would tell him that his eyes were sparkly anyway. It was a bit funny but felt good anyway. Compliments were good. He liked them and he knew he deserved them.
Eh...he would understand why she would not spend much time in the common room as these days ugly house elves decided to show up there which annoyed the Slytherin boy a great deal but it seems the reason for that was different for the girl. Richard chuckled. ''Really?'' he asked raising his eyebrows at her. ''Is not that waht makes furniture good though? The bigger the better. You see? All the bigger furniture are always the more expensive ones. I think you should try to enjoy it a bit.'' That was a different point of view from what she meant, of course, but it was still something to say. He would enjoy bigger furniture if it was him, to be honest. He smirked and winked at the girl again before looking up at the professor as she had started to say something.
So? It was time to wash these creatures? Wash? Like seriously? Richard eyed the creature. It looked like it could live another century without a bath but if it was what they were going to do for the rest of the class, the boy supposed he had to do it. Trying to ignore the urge to kick the cage, he opened his and took the creature out of it without waiting to walk out itself. He was not going to wait forever for a stupid creature to act. Of course, he paid extra attention that its butt was away from his face as he put it in the bucket. ''You better not make a stupid move there.'' he said to the creature as he unholstered his wand and pointed it into the bucket. ''Aguamenti''
He looked at Harlow as the water from his wand started to fill the bucket. ''You need help with anything?''

He picked up his brush and gently started to scrub the entire shell in circular motion. He paid extra attention to the fire crabs jewel and avoiding areas covered in scales.

He'd not only taken his shirt off (again), but he'd.... set it on fire. And then blamed the fire crab.
It was either madness or brilliance.
Aspen kept her straight face, but really - this boy thought he could fly. It was TOO easy. She began carving out a HOLE in her bucket with her wand so her little fire crab would have some light. And air. And so he could witness the rest of this show. It was too good to miss, even if you were an inept fire crab with bad aim.
"You've seen how bats fly? Or even birds. It all starts with flapping. Start slow so you don't hurt yourself. Might want to do a few neck rolls. Get limber. Cartwheels are good for limbering up." And even better when cartwheels were less-than-dressed, over the embers of a recently burned shirt, in the middle of fire crab pasture.
What could possibly go wrong? "I can watch your fire crab if you want to practice now."
Step One:
Fill the bucket up with enough water to make sure the rear of the Fire Crab is completely covered. While letting soak for several minutes, lightly rub the shell with your fingertips to feel for any soft spots or cracks. (Soaking will allow any buildup, caused by its flames, to loosen)

Ariana took her crabby crab and rinsed him off thoroughly making sure to remove any excess flakes still on his weird looking shell and body whatever. She looked at the shell closely, but not closely of course and determined nothing was wrong with the crabby crab. She looked down at him "you've been a goo.."
was that flames!?
Ariana looked over to where the majority of the class was and saw that Same kid who always losses his shirt somehow.. without his shirt on.. of course.. She furrowed her brows and shook her head "Gross, he's going to get sick or something, it's chilly out here." she said to her crab mainly, but if anyone heard her then oh well.
Looking back at her crab she gave him one final rinse down

Now that Ella had turned her attention away from the shirtless wonder and back to Martin, she was ready to give the little guy a good scrubbing. "Martin, this won't hurt a bit so...no worries." The third year said softly, trying to be reassuring. For all she knew, she was totally freaking the fire crab out and that's the last thing she wanted to do. "I'm going to use this brush..." And she held up the brush for the fire crab to see. "To brush your shell, okay?" Suddenly...a HUGE bubble came out of the water followed by some steam rising from the bucket. Had he just... O__O "Martin! Manners please." Ick.
The badger tried her best to ignore the little toots coming from Martin, using the brush and making the circular scrub motion to clean him as instructed. She whistled while she worked, thinking that perhaps the music would soothe the creature the way it had for Roro. So far so good, especially because no catastrophes had occurred yet. That was a relief. Looking over at Belle, the small badger smiled. "Hey Belle? How's it going over there? Hope you're little guy is behaving."

The fire crab had oh-so-conveniently burned his shirt?

Now trying her best NOT to look at Elijah and his dancing pecs of DOOM, Kurumi turned her gaze back to her fire crab...but ended up turning her head just a little too quickly and made herself get a little dizzy which made her swaaaaaaaay just a little in place, knocking over her bucket and causing all the water to pour out of it.
Fire crab remained completely unharmed and even seemed to squeak with delight at the little ride he had just been on.

Alright his firecrab looked pretty happy swimming its legs about in the water, but a quick glance at Louisa's bucket couldnt be anymore more different. Hadnt he known that the crustacean was still alive one would think its been petrified because it was so scared to move.
Reaching out for the brush he started scrubbing under the rim of the shell first, since it was already underwater. Slowly he moved his way up to the top part of the shell, scrubbing in a circular motion, watching the rough hewn gems glimmer as it caught the sunlight and refracted it back in little scattered prisms.
No wonder these creatures were endangered. It was hard to not to want something so naturally precious.

SPOILER!!: Instructions
Step One:
Fill the bucket up with enough water to make sure the rear of the Fire Crab is completely covered. While letting soak for several minutes, lightly rub the shell with your fingertips to feel for any soft spots or cracks. (Soaking will allow any buildup, caused by its flames, to loosen)
Step Two:

He was aware that there was some ruckus happening, but he could quite tear his gaze away from the glittery jewels and it was only from the Head Girl's murmurs that he finally looked up. "Who's a do--"
Oi! Not again Elijah!
Well this time Vickers doenst have spare trash bags-turned-weird-vests to spare, and really he couldnt do much of else other than roll his eyes and shake his head, and maybe try not to snicker at Louisa's cat call to him.
Oh here we go the pecs flex...
Finally the Ravenerd called out from where he stood "Careful Elijah you're bound to have someone throw something at you... " like spare brushes? buckets? water? money
Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes
"Don't look at me like that, Lockwood. You now you loooooove him," she said, and she stuck the firecrab in Hannah's face, laughing hysterically as she did so. Artemis was content..still. Fortunately. And his shiny emerald jewels were shiiiiiiny and new! Whooh! Elliot was quite please with herself.
After she...shook the crab in Hannah's face, she set him back into the bucket, squinting once again at the directions on the board...Oh! She was done! But no! Artmeis was going now! "I have to say goodbye, now, Artemis. But I promise to come visit you..as long as you promise not shoot me with your...butt." Yep. His BUTT. Elliot still hated the word. She placed him back in his cage...and placed the dark cloth over the cage..hmm..was it dark enough in there? Poor Artemis would now be lonel-
WAIT.
WHY was Elliot caring soooo much about this...FIRECRAB? It didn't make sense! Elliot barely cared about PEOPLE, much less firecrabs! What was the world coming to?!
The blonde picked up her supplies and went to go wash them...her mind spinning...

Making her way over to the long table, Vanora grabbed herself a bucket, brush and washcloth before moving back to the middle of the pasture. She did smile and shake her head as she passed Kendall, though. There was really no need for the girl to help collect the worms. Because she was going to do it all the easy way after the lesson.
She plopped herself back down on the grass, and once again opened her Fire Crab's cage. "By now everyone should have their things and a partner if you wanted one." Which, she was just slightly disappointed over the fact that most of them chose to work with someone else. But she had said they could, so no worries, really. "And if you still want a partner and can't find one, you can come up here and work with me." Grin! But she doubted anyone would want that. Anyway. Moving on..
"Today is all about taking care of the Fire Crab." Hence the emphasis on the 'Care' part from earlier. "And one of the most important ways to take care of them is to bathe them. Which you will all be doing right now." As if they didn't know. She glanced around once more to make sure they were paying attention, and satisfied that they were, she picked up the Fire Crab and placed him into the bucket. "You can all open your cages now, but before you pick them up, just know that they are going to be hot to the touch. Not scorching hot, and you won't get burned, but if you don't believe me, I trust you all have gloves on you." They read the rules, right? "You'll have to take them off after, though. It's difficult to wash while wearing them."
"You're going to want to move slow, so you don't scare them, and once you place them into the bucket, fill it with water until their rears are covered. Once you do that, the Fire Crab can no longer shoot its flame and washing will be easy." And that sort of, kind of answered Cassia's question from earlier, right? Right.
Pulling out her wand, she cast a silent 'Aguamenti' into her bucket, and once it was full enough, she gave it a flick behind her and a set of instructions appeared, hovering low enough so everyone could see.
SPOILER!!: Instructions!

"If there are no questions, you may begin! But please, just because the Fire Crab can not shoot its flame while in the water, they can still become scared and annoyed." All that would really happen is some smoke appears and the water would get a little hotter. But they were her babies! "So be careful and take your time. I'll be around to help if you need it!"
OOC: You will have.. probably a little over 48 hours to complete this activity. To receive full credit, you'll need to post at least 5 times, completing each of the steps. And if there are any questions, Professor Newlin will be around or you can shoot me a PM. Also, have fuuuuuuun!!! =D
Annabelle saw the professor reading off the steps to the class. She copied them down in her notebook so she wouldn't mess up. She went over to the fire crab cage and picked one out that look vulnerable. It looked so sweet underneath the ulgyness of it's shell and looks.

She shared allowed, reaching into her bag and removing them before placing them on. Now to get the fire crab into the bucket...
Sitting down in the grass, Ella crossed her legs and leaned forward, peering into the cage seated in front of her. Carefully, very carefully, Ella opened up the fire crab's cage and decided to have a little pep talk before getting started. "Okay little guy, I'm Ella and I'm not going to hurt you." So no need to go on a fire farting rampage or anything, all would be good. "We're just going to take a little bath and then you'll be ready to go back in your cage, okay?" Blink. Blink. Did fire crabs even understand english? Meh. "Alright, I'm going to take you out now, okay?" And Ella reached into the cage, moving slowly so that she didn't startle the creature. When she had a hold of the thing, she lifted it and gently pulled it out from the cage. "That's it, good boy." Hm...And Ella figured if she was bathing the fire crab, she might as well name him. "I think I'll call you Martin." BEAM. Martin was the perfect name. And Ella placed MARTIN into the bucket just as carefully as she could. See? This wasn't so bad.
Next step? Fill the bucket.
Belle saw Ella being gentle with her fire crab Martin. Belle smiled and chuckled to herself. Belle put on her dragon hide gloves and carefully took one out. When she approached the cage, one fire crab was going to the corner apparently scared to leave it's surroundings. Belle tried to calm it down. "Come here boy..yeah that's it i am not going to hurt you." Belle consoled it. She held out her finger with the dragon hide glove on it. Once she got hold of it, it was squirming but it fell in the bucket just in time. "Aww it is so sweet, i think i will name him Jeremy." That sounded like a nice name. After she had him in the bucket and it was comfortable. Belle now had to fill the bucket and complete step one.

Considering that Hannah had managed not to get burned yet she figured that she was doing an ok job. The crab seemed to be responding well to getting cleaned so all in all it hasn't been that bad of a lesson. She was done with the brushing so what did she need to do now?
Oh yes, time to massage the crab. Why did he need to get massaged? Seemed like specail treatment if you asked her. She bet the fire crab didn't even care one way or the other. What if he got soo relaxed that he shot fire out of his bum the way that people farted during their massages? I mean that could totally happen. Yup.
Hannah grabbed her wet washrag and gently starting to rub the crab under its body, legs and tail. She seemed to be doing a pretty good job because the soil was indeed coming off. Her crab was looking mighty fine. She repeated the process until it looked like the crab could not get any more clean.
