As you make your way down to the pasture for the first Care of Magical Creatures lesson of the term, and if this is not your first time visiting the place, you'll notice that the grassy area looks.. well, different. No creatures, besides the ones that Professor Newlin has hidden in the many cages scattered about can be seen.. or not seen, and how could you possibly miss the long covered table off to the side near the shed? What is in the cages and under the cover will stay a mystery.. for now.
Have yourself a seat on the grass, or stand if you'd rather! Not too close to those cages, though. Professor Newlin is there, laying on her stomach in the middle of the area, an open jar next to her and her finger stuck deep in the dirt.
There are worms in the dirt, after all.
OOC:This lesson will start later, later, laaaaater today. And I'm so nervous! The lesson has started! Please don't announce late arrivals. And I'm still nervous!
Nigel had turned and walked away for a minute to get all the dirt out of his hair. Peeves was still throwing dirt in his hair. Nigel knew the best course was to completely ignore Peeves till he went away. Which was exactly what happened.
He walked back and saw that the next activity had started. How long was he gone for. He could have sworn it was less than a minute. Nigel speed walked to his lazy fire crab. He picked up the cage and brought it over to were Vivi was. He put the bucket down and pointed his wand at it. He just about to ask her which spell was first because he always confused incendio and aquamenti. But that was answered when he watched Vivi used Aquamenti to fill up her bucket.
"Do you know if we should name our fire crabs. Because they might become angry if they are nameless?" It was a good question unless Vivi wanted violent fire crabs. While waiting for an answer he put his fire crab in the bucket."Aquamenti" He waited till the bucket was half way filled before ending the spell. Now all he had to do was touch his nameless crab.
Elliot's ears perked...someone else was naming theirs! She turned to the pair, an older Ravenclaw and a younger one..."Hey! I named mine! His name is Artemis..." she said with a small smirk..."I thought I was the only weird one here." Well, weird as in...Ravenclaw. Because Ravenclaws were so smart...names were important...and it seemed that all the claws had realized this...uh HUH!
She turned back to her own little Artemis...and narrowed her eyes as she tried to read the instructions..MErlin, maybe Hannah was right and she DID need glasses...but hopefully not! Gosh! That wasn't happening...ever. She took a washcloth, wet it with her wand and squeezed it out so that it wasn't sopping wet...just soaked a little..she rubbed his shell a bit, then his legs..then his belly...and Artemis seemed to be enjoying this...he wasn't as squirmy as before...and Elliot was weirdly liking it, too!
Some gross flakes began to float around...ew...should she empty out her bucket and fill it with new water? Sounded like a good plan, hmm? She gently picked Artemis up, he was a bit cooler this time around, and dumped out her bucket with one hand...then she set him back in and filled it up...THERE! Clean water for YOU, Artemis!

"Name them?" Vivi set her fire crab into the water, splashing a bit over the top of the shell before she realized that she hadn't put quite enough in. She topped off the bucket before turning herself back to the very important question of names.
"Yes, you're right. Names are important. Did you have something in mind for yours? Or maybe for both of them... make them a matched set?" She put her hands in the bucket to feel around for her fire crab (who really did need a name), and then Vivi rubbed the top of the shell lightly.
Poor thing. How did they get so dirty anyway?
SPOILER!!: Instructions
Step One:
Fill the bucket up with enough water to make sure the rear of the Fire Crab is completely covered. While letting soak for several minutes, lightly rub the shell with your fingertips to feel for any soft spots or cracks. (Soaking will allow any buildup, caused by its flames, to loosen)
Step Two:
With a soft bristled brush, gently scrub the entire shell using a light, circular motion. Pay special attention to any areas with buildup, mostly around their colored jewels and under the rim of the shell. Be careful not to brush areas covered in scales. They tend to be sensitive.
Step Three:
Gently massage the Fire Crab shell, under body, legs and tail with a soft, wet washcloth. This will loosen most soil. Don't worry if small flakes are released from the shell! This is just normal shedding. Rinse the Fire Crab to remove flakes.
Step Four:
Rinse the Fire Crab thoroughly. Closely inspect the shell for any irregularities, such as softening, excessive flaking, cracks, unusual discharge, or discolorations. Discoloration would occur on the jewels.
Step Five:
While still wet, place the Fire Crab back in the cage and cover with the cage with a dark colored cloth (the ones that covered it earlier). Rinse out supplies.
Nigel had think about what he wanted his fire crabs name to be. He took the couple minutes to soak his crab to think about it. "I don't know. I don't think they would like being named Beavis and Butthead." Which Nigel thought were the perfect names for the lazy crabs.
"Hmm. I'm feeling Marvin for mine. Do you have any ideas Vivi?"
Nigel tried to remember what he had to do next. But was interrupted by another older Ravenclaw. "Hi Artemis. I'm Nigel and I think everbody should name their crabs. It might make them happier."
Right, Now it was time to get back to work and touching his crab. Nigel hoped it was not slimy. He started to touch his crab looking for the crabs. Nigel thought he was doing this wrong because the water in the bucket was getting hotter. Maybe his crab was finally mad because he was nameless. "Hmm. Vivi is your crab's water getting hotter? Or is it just mine?"

She did smile and shake her head as she passed Kendall, though. There was really no need for the girl to help collect the worms. Because she was going to do it all the easy way after the lesson.
She plopped herself back down on the grass, and once again opened her Fire Crab's cage. "By now everyone should have their things and a partner if you wanted one." Which, she was just slightly disappointed over the fact that most of them chose to work with someone else. But she had said they could, so no worries, really. "And if you still want a partner and can't find one, you can come up here and work with me." Grin! But she doubted anyone would want that. Anyway. Moving on..
"Today is all about taking care of the Fire Crab." Hence the emphasis on the 'Care' part from earlier. "And one of the most important ways to take care of them is to bathe them. She glanced around once more to make sure they were paying attention, and satisfied that they were, she picked up the Fire Crab and placed him into the bucket. "You can all open your cages now, but before you pick them up, just know that they are going to be hot to the touch. Not scorching hot, and you won't get burned, but if you don't believe me, I trust you all have gloves on you." They read the rules, right? "You'll have to take them off after, though. It's difficult to wash while wearing them."
"You're going to want to move slow, so you don't scare them, and once you place them into the bucket, fill it with water until their rears are covered. Once you do that, the Fire Crab can no longer shoot its flame and washing will be easy." And that sort of, kind of answered Cassia's question from earlier, right? Right.
Pulling out her wand, she cast a silent 'Aguamenti' into her bucket, and once it was full enough, she gave it a flick behind her and a set of instructions appeared, hovering low enough so everyone could see.

"If there are no questions, you may begin! But please, just because the Fire Crab can not shoot its flame while in the water, they can still become scared and annoyed." All that would really happen is some smoke appears and the water would get a little hotter. But they were her babies! "So be careful and take your time. I'll be around to help if you need it!"
OOC: You will have.. probably a little over 48 hours to complete this activity. To receive full credit, you'll need to post at least 5 times, completing each of the steps. And if there are any questions, Professor Newlin will be around or you can shoot me a PM. Also, have fuuuuuuun!!! =D
Kendall saw Professor Newlin's silent answer to her question, but that didn't change her decision. If anything, she'd stay and help make sure all the fire crabs were okay, even if she wasn't needed to protect against gnomes. She just wanted to help somehow, but for now it seemed like it was just her and little Midir against all the craziness that could happen with this many students all trying to wash fire crabs. Namely, they'd been released to start the class activity, and she spent a few seconds just watching everyone else begin. Not to mention whatever it was that Aspen was trying to do, although at least she wasn't trying to make a vampire fire crab. That made everything a bit less weird, even if other people also were being strange. "Midir? I'm going to let you out, but I don't blame you if you'd rather stay in the cage," she finally said quietly to her fire crab. "All I'm going to do is put you in this bucket, and then wash you so you're all clean. Then we can get away from all the scary stuff." If her fire crab was in fact scared. It really was kind of hard to tell.
Either way, she wavered between taking her gloves out or not, but finally she just unlocked the cage and reached a hand inside unprotected. She trusted little Midir, and she hoped the crab trusted her too. It just quietly watched as she touched it with one and then both hands, at least, and then she lightly tried to pick it up. Hmm, she thought. The crab really wasn't heavy, but that made her only be more careful. Maybe it was a baby, after all, but she got it into the bucket, butt-down, and smiled reassuringly. "Okay, I'm just going to put a little bit of water in ther with you, then I'll massage you. It'll feel good, I promise," she told her crab, taking her wand out and quietly casting "Aguamenti." Once there was at least a foot or so of water in the bucket, half-covering Midir, she slipped her wand away again to reach forward and gently rub the crab's shell. Paying particular attention to the jewels and the edges, while still trying to stick with her promise not to hurt it.

Vivi massaged the top of her fire crab, loosening up the dirt and grime and feeling for any possible cracks or rough spots in the shell. It was nice to have something tactile to do in class, especially when the students around her were being chatty.
She nodded at Artemis and Artemis's caretaker. And Marvin and Nigel got nods too, because Vivi was thinking deep thoughts about naming her fire crab. "Bob. I think his name is Bob. Look." She lifted him out a bit and made kissy faces at the fire crab. Looks just like a Bob.
"Might be your imagination, Nigh. Is it hurting your hands?" Vivi tilted the bucket to spill out some of the dirty water and replaced it with clean. The shell felt smooth beneath her fingertips, and she didn't think there was any damage to speak of. Time to use the brush, right?
"How's the shell feel?"

Once Sophie thought the Fire Crab she was bathing didn't have any more buildups or anything, she placed the brush on the ground next to the bucket where the creature was and grabbed the washcloth.
Dumping it in the water, the third year made sure it was aaall wet before she started massaging the Fire Crab. She started with the shell, using the washcloth to wipe off the rests of dirt or whatever else could still be on it. She noticed some flakes being released from the creature's shell and double checked the instructions to make sure it was normal. Which it was. Good.
Eek. The flakes kind of made the water a little gross now. And it was getting kind of brown-ish. Sophie didn't mind the dirt, but those flakes made it look gross now. She wrinkled her nose as she massaged the under body of the Fire Crab. It felt reeeally different from the shell and that was weeeeird!
The legs and tail were kind of a problem, since the creature didn't seem to enjoy it when someone touched them. Sophie had to keep telling that particular Fire Crab that it was for his/her oown good and that it should stay still. But it was totally uneffective. And blaaargh those flakes were getting even more gross now for some reason.
The badger decided she was done massaging the turtle-like creature and got her wand again. "Aguamenti." And with that, she started rinsing the Fire Crab. As water poured from the tip of her wand, Sophie used her left hand to help remove the last flakes that were still attached to the shell.
Yuck! Gross water was groooss!

As Elliot began to move on to Step Four, she glanced at the little 'Claw. She smirked at him. "Marvin? Sounds nice and noble and GRAND." Not as good as Artemis, but that was okay, she supposed. "And I'm Elliot. It's nice to meet you, Nigel. I would shake your hand...but their full of..firecrab at the moment..." yep...since she was picking up the little guy to inspect him...she didn't really know how to rinse it throughly...with her wand, perhaps? Hmm.
She placed Artemis back in her bucket....and raised her wand. "Aquamenti." she said calmly, letting a stream of semi-powerful water rinse her little guy. She scowled at the other Ravenclaw, the old one. She looked really old, too.
And not at all indimidating, which is why she was scowling...because Bob was a horrid name. "Bob is a very boring name, you know." She said, matter of factly, as if it were a KNOWN fact that Bob was not a cool name.
It kind of was, though, right? Hmm. Shouldn't a Ravenclaw know these kinds of things? Hmmm!
She realized that she was still squirting Artemis with water, so she stopped, and quickly picked him up...he seemed a bit irritated, since he was getting HOT! "ouch!" she cried, and she quickly put him back in the water. Oops. "Not cool, Artemis." not cool. She waited a few seconds before trying to pick him up again...this time he was a lot less hot, though still very warm, and she inspected his little body...nothing irregular here, noooope!

Okay, so first up as working with the bucket. Sierra moved her bucket away from the other supplies, so she wouldn't get everything wet, and then she flicked her wand out its holster. Pointing the wand into the bucket, she said, "Aguamenti!" She stood by as the bucket began to fill with water. She peered into the bucket and did her best to make sure the rear of the crab was covered.
When it was, she ended the spell and withdrew her wand. Now time for a little soak, which apparently even the fire crabs liked to do. Then she stuck her hand in and started to rub the shell while looking for soft spots or cracks. Sierra sort of felt like the crab might get mad and blast her away from it at any given second, but it never did. Maybe it really did just like to soak.
Hmm...a few cracks and soft spots here and there, but otherwise, she'd picked a crab that was in pretty good shape. Good. Less work.
Aspen didn't know a single fire-proofing spell. It seemed silly now. That'd be dead useful.
Not just for her and the bucket, but also for her vampire acquaintance Elijah, who was likely about to set his rear aflame. That'd be worth watching.
Regardless, if her fire crab set her bucket on fire, or the grounds, that was going to be WAY LESS eventful that Elijah setting himself on fire. So what did Aspen have to fear? Nothing.
So without further ado, she RAAAHHHH SNAP CLAP BOOGIE BOOGIE BOOOOO'd at her fire crab. And, wonderful little rocket-powering thing that he was - delivered his defense. FLAMES filled her bucket and propelled it a little ways away from her. Since her bucket had had water in it before...it wasn't like a BONFIRE or anything. Just a little fire in a bucket.
Aspen actually, in her own little world of thought, clapped for his performance. Well done, fire crab. Now could he do that while under pressure? Say, when a rocket was strapped to him? Hmm. More tests required.

Working around the crack in her fire crab's shell, Kurumi gave the creature one last light brush over and paid extra attention to the rim of its shell before grabbing her washcloth and soaking it in the water for a few moments to soften the material before getting to the next step. During this time, Spike came over and she offered him a gentle smile. She would have waved...but...her hands were occupied with creature stuff at the moment. HEHEHEHE!
"Sure Spike, I don't mind at all," she nodded. Hopefully her fire crab would stop shooting flames from its butt now and splashing water everywhere. It would be a shame for Spike's curls to get wet and droopy after all.
Clearly...there was something bothering him...but the middle of class probably was not the best time to ask. And...she was far too focused on her fire crab to really be able to give any attention else where....ahem.
Washcloth sufficiently soaked, Kurumi began the massaging process...but she must have tickled the fire crab's under body or legs somehow and...well...
*SHOOOOOOOOOM SPLAAAAAAASH*
Water errupted from her bucket again, not only getting herself, but splashing those nearby. Wait...was Spike covered in water too? Glancing around a bit more - and her fire crab farting flames into the bucket and splashing more water as time pasted - she saw Elijiah...being Elijah and doing something weird again.
"Elijah....what are you doing to your fire crab?!"

She could tell by the way the professor offered up her partnership that she didn’t expect anyone to take her up on it. Eliza, however, liked to do things people didn’t expect sometimes. And besides, she seemed nice and Eliza wouldn’t mind getting to know her. Maybe she’d even learn a little extra, being partners with the professor and all. She picked up her cage and bucket with supplies, walked over to Professor Newlin and said, “Hi Professor. I’d like to be your partner if you don’t mind.” She smiled and sat her things down to begin washing her crab.
She eyed Newlin to see if she approved of her getting started. The Ravenclaw slipped on her gloves, opened the crab’s cage and gingerly reached inside. She felt the warmth of the crab soak into her fingers and palms as she pulled it from its cage. It would make more sense to me if we filled the bucket with water first, but I’m sure she knows what’s best. Eliza was, after all, only a first year.
She placed the crab into the bucket and removed her gloves. Okay now, little crab. Please don’t burn me, she thought. She pulled out her wand and cast, “Aguamenti” at the bucket. It slowly started to fill. She watched her crab warily, ready to take cover at the first signs of fiery resistance. Luckily, the crab seemed to be okay with having a bath today and sat still, letting the water rise above its rear.
“So far, so good,” she said, smiling at Professor Newlin and then back to the crab. “Thank you for being a good little crab.” While she let the crab soak in the water, she decided to be sociable.
“Professor,” she started “What made you want to be the Care of Magical Creatures professor?” It was a decent enough first question and she thought it would be better than standing in awkward silence. She started to lightly rub the crab’s shell with her fingertips, checking for any problems.
Elijah had been strrraaaaiiiiningggggg. SO. HARD. To fart. He wasn't used to farting, because attractive people such as himself don't usually have to pass gas - they're far too pretty for that, after all. However, if he wanted to impress the ladies by his amazing fire conjuring BUTTOCKS, he had to learn how to summon one of these blasted fart things.
"Is it this hard for youuuu lil' guy?" he asked his fire crab as he tried to sqqqueeeezzzeeee another fart out, with no luck. His fire crab just stared at him in wonder.
BBBFFFFFBFFFFF
That little trumpet sound? Yeah! THAT WAS A FART, BABY! Well, a baby fart, more accurately. But a FART nonetheless! Elijah had been so excited about passing gas, he hadn't checked to see if his fart had actually erupted in flames... But someone was clapping...?
Aspen.
"Did I just conjure fire?" Elijah asked in awe, as he saw the bucket in flames before the Ravenclaw vampire. Before even waiting for confirmation he began jumping with glee! "DID YOU SEE THAT LIL GUY!?" he turned to his fire crab, hoping it would be sharing some of his enthusiasm. He was instead faced with a O______O expression.
Fire crabs. Y SO SEEERRRIOOOOUUUSSSS?
"Sorry about your bucket, Aspen. You could use mine if you need to bath your crab?" See? Despite his bum-hooting, he could still be a gentleman.

Sierra reached for her brush then took a seat on the ground next to her bucket. She remembered a time when she'd been so small that this wouldn't have been possible. At 5'5", though, she was just at the right height to sit next to the bucket and still be able to see inside.
She brought the brush inside the bucket and began to gently massage the fire crab's shell. She still got the feeling it might blast her right on out it's little bucket, but still, it never did. Maybe it liked the spa treatment. She moved the brush in circles and paid special attention to the areas with buildup. Served the fire crab right, shooting out fire like that.
She spent a lot of time around the colored jewels and underneath the rim of the shell, too. She saw an area covered in scales and moved the brush away from that spot. Yeah. Nice way to get blasted.
Despite his bum-hooting, he could still be a gentleman.
...
Hmmm.
Aspen's head cocked to the side, thoughtfully analyzing the Hufflepuff that was certain his rear end had just blasted her bucket. AND set it on fire.
No sense clearing that up for him. Look how happy he was? Why... who was Aspen to discourage such nonsense?
"That's alright, thanks. You're just doing what needs to be done." She crawled over to retrieve her flaming bucket and put it out with a quick Aguamenti.
Maybe she could strap Elijah to a rocket instead? He was, in theory, already "dead" so... he'd probably be pretty easy to convince... Not to mention, if Aspen talked him into thinking he could fly...
Hmmm.
Aspen's fire crab didnt' seem to happy with his lot in this assignment and willingly crawled into the bucket to safety. Maybe THIS fire crab wasn't up for defying gravity.
But THAT Hufflepuff "fart crab" might be.
"You ever seen a vampire fly?" Aspen asked Elijah, moving out of HIS line of fire, and taking her fire crab with her. She shot her fire crab with another Aguamenti...just... so she'd appear to be doing something other than what she was.
Post 3. Kurumi (sorry, I didn't see you for my previous post <3) && Aspen.
Farmer Carter | | Ama's Secret
Elijah was momentarily distracted from Aspen as he heard the obvious sound of Kurumi calling out his name. He turned round slowwwwwly to face her, just to make sure his good looks weren't thrown at her all at once... she HAD fainted once over him after all. He just had to make sure he didn't go losing MORE points for being so hawt and making girls forget themselves.
"I'm not doing anything to him... He's just watching. Isn't that right, little guy?" he looked down at his crab who, again, just stared blankly back at him. Maybe that was Kurumi's point? Why WASN'T he doing something to the crab? i.e washing him.
*dunks in bucket* *water charm*
There. Now no one could complain. His fire crab was at least WET and Elijah was sure this was the first time he had seen any expression on his crab's face and it was an expression of displeasure.
Now to focus on Aspen as his crab floated in the bucket, or... well, drowned. Who knew? Not Elijah. He wasn't babysitting the thing.
"I actually meant to ask you about that," he responded, curious. "I always thought vampires could fly. If I am to be one, when abouts do I get that ability? Or is that just myth?" If it was just myth, then this whole vampire thing was even MORE unfortunate - if that was even possible at this stage.

Kurumi continued to rub the cloth over her fire crab, being EXTRA careful now around the legs and feet so that it didn't shoot flames and therefore more water in her face. She glanced over at Elijah for a moment, trying not to look obviously flustered by his presence as well, memories came flooding back. "Um....right...just...keep your shirt on this lesson," she mumbled, cheeks rising in color slightly as she moved to her fire crab's back legs to continue the massaging.
And yes, Kurumi was hearing this vampire conversation going on. She had heard from Vivi that Aspen had a vampire bat for a pet WHICH WAS SUPER COOL AND KURUMI WANTED TO MEET IT AND HOLD IT AND STUUUUUFF, but the Gryffindor was wondering if Aspen was going to bite Elijah again...
...or her fire crab.
Turning her attention away just for a moment, Kurumi lifted her fire crab out of the water and banished its contents with her wand before lowering the creature back into it and using her wand to give the fire crab a light shower to remove the flakes of fire crab, erm, skin into the bucket. She then banished that as well.
She then filled the bucket up ONE last time to give her fire crab a final rinse.
SPOILER!!: Instructions!
Step One:✓
Fill the bucket up with enough water to make sure the rear of the Fire Crab is completely covered. While letting soak for several minutes, lightly rub the shell with your fingertips to feel for any soft spots or cracks. (Soaking will allow any buildup, caused by its flames, to loosen)
Step Two:✓
With a soft bristled brush, gently scrub the entire shell using a light, circular motion. Pay special attention to any areas with buildup, mostly around their colored jewels and under the rim of the shell. Be careful not to brush areas covered in scales. They tend to be sensitive.
Step Three:✓
Gently massage the Fire Crab shell, under body, legs and tail with a soft, wet washcloth.

"Those are the perfect names for our crabs."
Nigel was impressed that they could come up the perfect names for fire crabs. He must have been imagining the heat because he continued checking for cracks and soft spots. Once he was sure he was done. He looked for the soft brushs.
He made sure not to brush the sensitive areas. He did not want Marvin angry. That would be bad. Nigel gently scrubbed the entire shell with the light, circular motion. He looked for build up and when he found some it took longer than he tought to get rid of it. The colored jewels were awesome and really shined once he started cleaning them. "Wow would you look at the awesome shell" And now he had to massage Marvin. Yuck.

Aspen turned her fire crab's rear away from everyone for now. She'd get him out and squirt him again in a second. Maybe work on his aim again.
For now though...
...and with that little keep your shirt on warning from Dragon-Bait Hollingberry.
Well.
"Yeah. Yeah, vampires fly. Like bats. Just like bats. Basically are bats. But... you just have to practice. That's why I have a bat for a pet, my Egbert. We practice." Not flying, but they practiced lots of things. So, not TECHNICALLY a lie.
"Clothes aren't aerodynamically friendly though. I heard that removing a shirt can also help with... you know.... moving your bowels. Less restrictive." She'd probably heard that? If not, she had NOW...from herself. So again, not a lie...ish.
Plus, she wanted Dragon Bait to faint again and for Elijah to take his shirt off and set himself butt on fire. Aspen was learning SO MUCH this year.
She turned her bucket over so that her crab was UNDER it. He was looking stressed so he could just chill under there for a while.

Vivi tipped off the dirty water once again, although her reasons were mostly selfish. She wanted to look at her fire crab, and she couldn't see poor Bob through all that mud. Once the bucket was refilled with clean water once again, Vivi set her brush to the side and picked up a washcloth.
"How often do you suppose they need to be cleaned this thoroughly? It's hard work to be an everyday type of activity." Vivi lifted Bob out of the water again, peering into his little face as she scrubbed at his 'belly'... or you know... his shell.

Nothing seemed to be soft or cracked on the creature's shell , so Gideon let the firecrab soak in the water for a few moments. If the notes said it was useful to loosen stuff up off the shell, then he was going to take the hint and do so. When it was long enough in his opinion, he then took up the brush that he had retrieved earlier from the offered supplies and began lightly scrubbing the firecrab. Circular motion upon circular motion, first clockwise and then counter clockwise to stir things up after one round of gentle scrubbing.
Satisfied with the overall cleaning, the prefect switched to spot cleaning. Gideon focused more around around the edges of the jewels. He then gingerly rolled the firecrab over to attempt to get the underside as well. However the creature seemed not to like it all that much so the seventh year quickly abandoned it and righted the crab. He then froze to see what type of if any further reaction he would get, the Gryffindor letting out a sigh of relief when nothing came and he was still dry and not burnt.

Nigel took a look at Vivi's shell and was amazed by how green it was. Nigel was sure that the blue color on his crab was better.
"It's a blue color. I don't know the name of it."
Nigel also agreed with Vivi. That this was a lot of work for one day. Nigel had just started massaging Marvin and wanted it to be over already. He slowly went down the shell, to under body, and then the legs and the tail. Once he was sure most of the soil was loosed. He know had to rinse it.
"Do we have to use Aquamenti to rinse it?"

Sophie was still disgusted by the brown-ish water full of flakes when she heard the little commotion from the older students and looked over to watch them for a bit. Whyyy were they always being so crazy? She would never understand them...
The young badger kept on pouring water on the Fire Crab and using her left hand to help clean it faster. When she believed to be done, she put her wand away and eyed the creature. She looked at the instructions, then back at the Fire Crab.
She had nooooo idea if that amount of flakes was considered 'excessive' or not. All she knew was that it made the water all gross. The jewels looked alright, and so did the shell as a whole.
"Professor, I'm not sure about the... flaking being excessive or not." She said not leaving her spot. Who knew what the turtle-like creature could do if Sophie left it all alone. Maybe it would start acting weird and messing around like those older students or something!
Okaaay... Sophie looked back down at the Fire Crab. She was almost done! And had no idea if the creature was healthy or not.

Jory had now completed steps one, two and three. "Onto step four,'' he said to himself. "First thing, rinse the crab.'' He carefully took the crab and from his wand let water trickle carefully flow onto hit. He took care to make sure that everywhere was rinsed. And as he rinsed he noticed a bit more flakes falling off. "At least now you'll be all nice and clean, Mr. Krabbs,'' he told it as he finished off with the rinsing.
Now, he began his inspection. From his not so close inspection he had done earlier Mr. Krabbs seemed to have been in good shell health. With the grab on the ground Jory looked closely at its shell. His inspection lasted a good ten minutes or so. "You've got a clean bill of health, Mr. Krabbs,'' he pronounced when he was done.
Step One:
Fill the bucket up with enough water to make sure the rear of the Fire Crab is completely covered. While letting soak for several minutes, lightly rub the shell with your fingertips to feel for any soft spots or cracks. (Soaking will allow any buildup, caused by its flames, to loosen)

Ariana then grabbed her brush and began brushing the crabs shell in a circular motion paying special attention to this one spot that looked gross and suddenly she was pay too much attention and accidently brushed a scale or two maybe and her crabbed freaked out and tried to run in the water splashing it everywhere but not before.... yes.. farting it's fire from it's butt. Ariana jumped back as water just splashed up from the fire emitting.. but she still managed to get wet. She looked down at the crab "i've been nothing but good to you crabby crab!" dump crab...

She then moved her fingertips to rub the creature's shell, stroking it with utmost care, trying to feel at the same time if there were any cracks on it. Nooope. So far, so good. She was about to get the brush when she heard him say that he likes it when she called her that. That? What that? Captain? Beezus eyed him before taking hold of the brush.
"I think you're crazy Dy... doesn't everyone else call you that? Captain?" It was a sure ball that his teammates called him that. So really...it wasn't that special right? She grinned at him before turning back her attention on her fire crab. Why, it seemed like most of the Captains this term were unhinged. Dylan was a bit different though. He was more annoying than any of them. Heh.
As the fire crab did some sort of bouncing motion on the bucket, Beezus began to brush its shell, following a circle motion as was instructed. At the edges, around the jewels, near that seemingly diamond-shaped scar it had, under the rim. For minutes, she kept brushing the creature, occasionally wiping sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand.
Dylan just smirked as she said something about everyone calling him Captain. Yes, that might have been true...but it didn't make him feel the same way as when he heard it coming from her...It was pretty bad when just hearing her talk got him going.
He needed help. Much like their new Professor...
Anyway, next step! Dropping the sponge, he carefully picked the washcloth up and moved it towards the water. Dunking it down into the steamy bath, Dylan began rubbing it along the crab's body. The task was so minuscule that he didn't have to focus too much attention towards it. Nope, meaning he could focus on other things...
Like the way Bee has just wiped the back of her hand across her forehead...Dylan was sure she didn't realize how pretty she was...sitting there with that look of total concentration on her face. She was so beautiful...Really...
COUGH.
Back to the fire crab...*BLINK*
Making sure to get up under the little guy's body, his arms and legs, Dylan felt a little disgusted as tiny particles come off in the water. The Professor had mentioned that this might happen...but still. Just...ick. Which reminded him...
He needed to clean Charlotte later.
"You doing okay over there, beautiful?" Yep, he'd ask...but not look. Looking was hard to...stop doing.

Well, there wasn't much Sophie could do about the flaking, so she just let it to the professor to handle. The older witch would do a much better job than herself, obviously.
The brunette took a last look at the instructions and nodded. It was probably the simplest step. So while the Fire Crab was still wet, Sophie carefully held it out of the bucket - starting to worry about it shooting fire again - and sloooowllyyyyyy made went to put it back in the cage. She walked a lot slower than she had to, just because she was afraid of it getting scared or mad at something and well... shooting fire all over.
She also walked looking around to make sure she wouldn't get in no one's way and/or step on a Fire Crab or anything to make the pastures become a war zone of some kind. That wouldn't be pretty...
Once the Fire Crab was already in the cage, Sophie said a quick goodbye, closed it and covered the cage with the cloth that was over it in the beginning of the lesson. She went back to where she was working and used the Aguamenti spell to rinse out all the supplies, then Scourgified everything to make sure it was all clean again and free from that gross, flaky water from ealier.
