#1 - and a questioonn!!! x) Ohh. They'd be bathing the Fire Crabs. Sophie didn't know they needed to be bathed. She knew they could be pets and all, but what about the wild Fire Crabs? Ir they were any, of course. "Professor, how do wild Fire Crabs get clean?" She asked the older witch as she opened the cage and touched the Fire Crab with the tip of her fingers. Checkiing how hot they were! Not that hot. Good! She wouldn't need her dragonhide gloves then. Sophie carefully got the Fire Crab she'd be working with from the cage and put it in the bucket. She quickly pulled out her wand and pointed to a part of the bucket where the creature wasn't occupying. She didn't want to startle the thing that could shoot fire, right? Eep! "Aguamenti!" The badger waited for the bucket to have enough water to completely cover the Fire Crab's rear. There! She was safe now. Heh! "Don't worry, Fire Crab, this won't hurt." Hopefully. She'd be careful enough! Sophie started rubbing the shell - Merlin, she never thought she'd do thaaat!! A Fire Crab shell. Wow! -, feeling it for any soft spots or cracks or whatever else there could be. It felt weeeird! The third year liked taking care of plants better, but well, this could be fun, yes? Soak |
Post 2. Once she got rid of the itchy, hot sensation on her arms, Beezus then crouched down, took out her wand, muttered "Aguamenti." until it was filled up just enough to cover the fire crab's behind. She then moved her fingertips to rub the creature's shell, stroking it with utmost care, trying to feel at the same time if there were any cracks on it. Nooope. So far, so good. She was about to get the brush when she heard him say that he likes it when she called her that. That? What that? Captain? Beezus eyed him before taking hold of the brush. "I think you're crazy Dy... doesn't everyone else call you that? Captain?" It was a sure ball that his teammates called him that. So really...it wasn't that special right? She grinned at him before turning back her attention on her fire crab. Why, it seemed like most of the Captains this term were unhinged. Dylan was a bit different though. He was more annoying than any of them. Heh. As the fire crab did some sort of bouncing motion on the bucket, Beezus began to brush its shell, following a circle motion as was instructed. At the edges, around the jewels, near that seemingly diamond-shaped scar it had, under the rim. For minutes, she kept brushing the creature, occasionally wiping sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand. |
Post 1 Jory placed his baucket down next to the caged fire crab. Pulling out his wand, he began to fill the water into the bucket. "Aguamenti!''. After sure he had enough to cover the crab's rear, he stopped the water flow. He looked around at his crab. "Please, please don't shoot flames,'' he whispered softly to it. What a disaster that would be. Carefully, the boy lifed the crab and placed it into the bucket. There was enough water. The badger began to rub the crab, feeling for any cracks and soft spots. And he also let it soak. It should be enjoying this, right? |
Post 1 Text Cut: Eliiise! ^_^ The red head eyed all the other people with their firecrabs and began cringing. This was not her idea of fun. It was out of her comfort zone and these firey creatures did not look appealing to Nessie at all. Sigh. Still she had to do this. She looked around and spotted Elise, whom was already busy with her own crab. Right. She could do this. Ness took a deep breathe and walked closer to the younger Ravenclaw. "Mind if I work by you?" Hopefully she wouldn't, but before Elise could answer Ness began working anyways. She gently, and slowly grabbed one firecrab and did the same as the rest. She carefully put it into the bucket. Wasn't so bad...but wait what? Fart? O_O Fart fire? EWWWWW!!! Breathe, just breathe. That wasn't going to happen if she stayed calm. Yep..she just needed to be calm. "That's not going to happen." She eyed Elise worriedly. "We can do this."she said letting go of her own fire crab and then started filling up the bucket with water. "Aguamenti." she said quietly, and when her bucket was full she turned back to Elise. "Want help with your water?" she asked trying to be somewhat of use. |
Post 2 After letting his crab soak for several minutes, Jory grabbed the brush and started scrubbing in the circular motion. He started with the jewels. This particular crab had emerald patterns and there was buildup around them. So, he spents a few minutes on each jewel carefully cleaning them. He made sure to steer clear of the scales. After the badger finished with the jewels, he moved on to the rim under the shell. "Stay away from the scales,'' he kept reminding himself |
..1. So.... now that the drama seemed to subside and most people had done that whole partner thing, Aspen could work through some things.
Because while everyone else was thinking of distinguishing a fiery butt, Aspen was thinking about ROCKETS. Hello, fire source to a vomit fueled rocket. Aspen chose a light weight fire crab. By all outward appearances, she was doing the assignment. Fire crab in a bucket of water. But REALLY, Aspen was measuring her fire crab. Extensively. She was writing the measurements down on her arm, under her sleeve. |
Post 3 Finished with the scrubbing, Jory moved on to the Fire Crab's massage. He started off with it's shell. with the washcloth Massage...massage...massage... And here the shedding began. Tiny pieces were falling off. At least they grew back. Next, came under the body foolowed by it's legs. "Don't get agitated,'' he said. What if it suddenly shot out flames? Chaos! Finally, he came to the tail. "Don't shoot fire,'' was still repeating in his head like a mantra as he began to rinse the crab out. |
Post #2 Quote:
O_______________o Well, it was too late to put the crab in first now. "It'll be fine. Just pop the little feller in there." Unless Terry wanted to do that water spell again. Theo didn't like a wasted magical effort, you know. But he did kick the bucket slightly, just to take a few layers off. Cos it was kinda still overflowing. There. Fit for a king. Eyeing Terry and his gloves, Theo quickly dashed to retrieve his own. That was a GOOD CALL on Terry's part.. Though, suddenly, something came over him. .... What about his vulnerable feet? They were gonna get burned off with his pathetic shoes! >____< |
post 1 SPOILER!!: Miranda and professor "Ah no, it's alright..." Ethan said with a chuckle as Minerva seemed somewhat embarrassed about the worms. "I'll take good care of them... They'll like my garden," he added with a wink. How cute... she was worried about their feelings. Ethan wasn't completely sure they had any, but he wouldn't deliberately hurt anything living... unless it was used in a potion, but of course there were humane ways of using creature bits for those. The fifth year shrugged, "I'd say it was my best subject... I know a lot about plants, I guess. I'm pretty good with taking care of them." "Thanks," he said, returning the girl's smile as she welcomed him. "I do like it pretty well so far... Bit of a change though," he added, feeling a bit homesick for his old school and friends. His mood turned somber for a moment as she mentioned finding his way, and he thought of the girl who had been showing him around a bit - the friend he hadn't seen since their... fight? argument? Whatever it was, he needed to find her to talk. Forcing himself out of those thoughts, the boy managed a smile for Minerva as she continued. "That'll definitely help, I think.." he said as she mentioned reading about the fire crabs and he looked down at the one in his cage. "You were raised as a Muggle?" he asked looking back up at her. Something told him by the way she spoke that she wasn't actually Muggle-born - that her mum was a witch but hid it... That concept was a bit foreign to the boy. "I guess Hogwarts has been a bit of a change for you too," he added with a smile. She would have had much more to get used to than he did, he supposed. He looked back at the fire crabs. Names? He hadn't really given that a thought... "Sparks... okay," he said with a chuckle as he first looked at Miranda's fire crab, then at his own. "Umm.... I guess I'll call mine Brûle." The french word for burn... seemed fitting. The boy looked back at the professor as they were to begin. Listening to the instructions, he made sure the first thing he did was to dig the dragonhide gloves out of his messenger bag and pull them on over his hands. No way was he getting burned if he could help it. Ethan set the bucket down, putting the brush and washcloth aside for the time being. Probably best to put water in the bucket first just in case the thing decided to shoot fire... it would get extinguished right away. Pointing his wand at the bucket, the boy cast Aguamenti. Once filled, he tentatively opened the cage door. |
SPOILER!!: Cassia ^____^ BAI PEEVES, you smelly bully. Yep. She was brilliant at insults. She eyed the cages nervously, again, not really listening to the professor. Which was probably a mistake, but whatever. She could just ask Cassia again. "OW." Pout. Blue rubbed her side. Jeez Cassia. A tap on the shoulder would've sufficed. But she probably didn't mean to elbow her so hard, so Blue would let it slide Sitting down on the ground she routed in her bag for her gloves her and wand, tongue poking out in concentration. They were at the bottom of her bag, OKAY?!?! O_O Anyway, when she finally got them she reached towards the cloth and cage. "Niiiiiice fire crab. You're not gonna burn my fingers off today, right?" Hehehe. *panicked laughter* She gently wrapped her fingers 'round it's middle, cringing, and set it in the bucket Ahem. Now. "AQUAMENTI." Only a little bit of water shot from the tip of her wand, but it was enough so.. Okay. Just let it soak before proper touching it. Bleugh. After leaving it for a few minutes, she gingerly ran her fingers over it for cracks and what-not but twas PERFECT. Thank MERLIN. Ugh. SPOILER!!: Instructions |
Post 2 Quote:
If this went wrong and the crab fired at them, it definitely wasn't Terry's fault. "Alright but if you get burnt it will be all your own doing" he chuckled and gently placed the crab, backside first into the bucket. He could feel through his gloves that the heat was starting to cool down until eventually the crab was cold enough to touch with his bare fingers. He took the gloves off and placed them beside him on the workspace, glancing up to see what the next activity was. The next part of the first step was too check for soft spots and cracks and the twelve year old gently rubbed the shell, satisfied that there wasn't anything drastically wrong with the crab. He let go of the creature and looked at Theo. "Your turn" he indicated towards its shell. What was next? He picked up the brush and waited for Theo to stop with what he was doing. They were onto step two now, it was going well! |
Post #3 Text Cut: Soft BLUE=D Cassia was now scrubbing absent-mindedly as she watched the students around her doing the same. And Blue hasn't touched the creature yet. Cassia watched closely how was she going to do it. Oh and someone too spoke with the creature. Yay second-year students! Cassia grinned at Blue widely, "That's fun ,right?" Somehow the snakes found cleaning creatures fun though the eagle didn't seem to be so enjoying it, no? Maybe Cassia could excite her friend? Maybe. The second-year turned her attention back on the creature in the bucket when it started recoiling. "Yeah I didn't forget about you." She lied holding it up to her eyes level. "Don't glare me like that fire-farter," she squinted her eyes at it. They could call them names ,right? Well, no one heard her except for Blue probably. But the Ravenclaw wouldn't tell on her, would she? Cassia's hands started to her warmer so the girl put the creature back in the bucket thinking that it was a very bad idea lifting it. Its rear should stay covered in water in order not to see how the creature shot fire out of its rear. The snake now started scrubbing the areas around the jewels ,why? Because that was written on the board. Scrub ..scrub..scrub. though Cassia had to admit that jewels are kinda beautiful. Maybe that's why Professor Newlin liked those creatures and wanted the students to clean them. Wait a minute……what if Newlin was making the students clean those so she could take the jewels. Mhhmm. But Newlin didn't look like the deceiving type. However, Cassia wondered if she plucked a jewel out of the creature's shell. Will anyone notice? The creature froze between her hands as if reading her thoughts. Cassia fought the urge not to laugh. "don't worry fire crab I won't do anything till I ask the Professor." Yup she'll ask for a jewel ,you know she cleaned it she deserves one. After scrubbing the shell and under its rim well. Cassia set the brush aside and glanced at the board. Hmmm….massaging. She reached for the cloth and sank it down in the bucket in order to wet it. But she was in no hurry to start this massaging so she turned to Blue and asked," How're you doing there?" The Snake wouldn't mind helping 'cos she was having fun you know. SPOILER!!: Instructions |
2. Hmmm. Hmmmmmmmmmm. This felt intrusive on the fire crab's privacy. Maybe he WANTED to be caked with mud and dirt. What did this level of pampering really teach the fire crab? Aspen wanted not to clean her creature, no, she wanted to teach it to 1. reach new heights/how to fly, and 2. how to have better aim for defensive purposes. Her fire crab was going to be dirty (who needs or cares about points anyway?), but more likely to survive. SO. Aspen moved to the ground, where she sat cross-legged. Oops her bucket.... fell over. Oops. Ahem. She turned the fire crab to face her, and set the bucket up so that it was prepared to catch FLAMES. |
Post #3 Quote:
"I won't get burnt. If he's in this bucket, he won't reach my feet." Because according to the professor, the feet were about the most common place to get burned. And the bucket created a barrier. He smiled slightly as the Fire Crab was put into the bucket with no trouble. Buuuuut... was Terry taking his gloves OFF? Really? Theo stared at him in awe. Nope, his gloves were staying firmly ON. His turn to what? After a slight pause of trying to figure out what he had to do, Theo peered over the bucket, without touching the creature, and gave a firm nod. Seemed ready to go. The boy picked up the brush and paused.... again.... Forever pausing. But he soon realized that it was now or never, so the second year placed the brush on one of the jewels and did the lightest of circular motions across it. It was a pathetic attempt, really. But... "There." Done. Terry's turn. |
Post #1 w/ Louisa *eyes Aspen* :P SPOILER!!: Newlin and Instructions So with the pesky poltergeist zooming away for his next rendezvous with mischief Vickers finally turns his attention back to "Lets go over there...." he nudged his head at Louisa towards a freer spot not crowded with students. He set the supplies on the ground as well as the caged firecrab, then brought out his dragon hide gloves and slipped them snugly onto his hands. Just as he was unhooking the door of the cage to take the firecrab out his gaze falls upon the Ravenclaw brunette that has her bucket standing in a way where it was obvious it could not carry water. "What is Aspen doing?" he murmured |
Elliot has a soft/weird side?! Quote:
She then rubbed around the shell...feeling for any soft spots...or something of that sort...she squinched her eyes at the board....okay...now to brush it...ish. She picked up the brush...and began to rub it circularly...the crab was VERY squirmy...was she doing it wrong?! She didn't want her hand burned or anything! "Hold still, Crab!" she said angrily...ooooh...she should name it! "Professor, do they have names? Or can I name him?" Because Elliot was starting to like this thing. And not just because of the jewels...though that was an added bonus! Haha! Brush brush bruuuush! she hummed...inside her head....and she tried to get all those icky build ups clear...poor crab was probably so fiery and angry because he wasn't clean! Well, no fear, Crab, Elliot AWESOMETASTICAL Morganzo is heereeee! To save the day and give you a BATH! "There, you look good as new. And I think I'll name you..." Hmmm....she didn't know...she was never good at naming things. "Artemis!" YES IT WAS SO PERFECCCTTT! Looking back at the board...she tried to read the next instructions...stupid suuuuun was getting in her eyes...uggghhh! |
Post 1 Peeves! That bloody poltergeist was so darn annoying at times. After checking to make sure he hadn't been one of the landing places of the flying worms, Gideon waited until it all seemed to calm down and the ghost was gone. Thank Merlin. Now back onto the lesson, the seventh year discretely eying the creature in its cage beside him. Any more trouble and he was sure someone was gonna get burned. The prefect turned his full attention back to Professor Newlin as she brought them back, briefly explaining what they needed to know to attend to their task of cleaning the firecrabs. Gideon nodded as he listened to show understanding of the steps, briefly glancing up at the list that the woman summoned. For good measure, he copied them down in his notes so he could refer to them as he went along as well as look back at them after class. Right...first order of business was the gloves, he mused, slipping them onto both his hands before moving to carefully open the cage of his charge. He made sure to give no sudden movements not wanting to frighten or anger it in anyway lest it attack. Then reaching inside, Gideon gingerly lifted the firecrab from his home to the bucket at his feet, slowly letting go once the creature was settled. One part done...now for the precautionary measures, his wand removed from his pocket. "Aquamenti!" he cast letting the water cascade down into the bucket. Gideon did his best to keep a control over the flow. "Finite," he finally added once the water level was high enough. He looked back at his list for anything more and found the note about inspecting the shell, the seventh year putting his wand away and bending down to let his hands lightly brush across the surface to do just that. |
Post 1 + Kurumi What was he supposed to be doing again? Spike eyed the worms in his hand, the fire crab, and the professor's demonstration. He felt deflated, and suddenly highly exposed. He didn't want to be right here the middle where he'd plopped himself down. No, he wanted to be well out on the perimeter, where he wouldn't be tempted to look at Beezus with him. Oh how Spike felt wounded right now. And that Snake was just twisting the knife and making it worse. Of course Beezus wasn't helping, choosing to be his partner and all. Where was he again? Oh yes. He was going to move. There was a little gap by Kurumi, and Spike carefully dragged the fire crab's cage in that direction, pausing to pick up the required cleaning things on the way. "Mind...if I work here?" he asked quietly. Spike didn't really wait for an answer, already feeling highly conspicuous having moved. It was weird, feeling small and irrelevant AND conspicuous at the same time. He pulled on his dragon hide gloves, and opened the cage door. "Hey little fella," he said, calmly, but without his usual excitement or coaxing. "I'm gonna give you little bath." He carefully lifted the crab into the bucket, careful to put him in bottom first. Fire was usually the cause of much excitement, but not today. "Aguamenti," he cast, carefully filling up the bucket. "There we go little one, not too cold I hope?" |
Post 1. Don't mind us... just farting over here... I won't tell you where Elijah was when it was raining worms and the poltergeist was digging up a grave for Nigel, because if I did... I'd have to kill you. ANYWAYZ. Can we take a second to talk about how HAWT the new Care of Magical Creatures teacher is? Elijah found her to be far easier on the eye than Williamson. She even received a couple of unexpected winks here and there. Elijah'd be her fire crab any day. Speaking of which. He slowly removed his assigned fire crab from it's cage and rested it on the ground. It was kind of cute in a weird kind of way... Elijah lay down on the ground in front of the creature and stared at it. Elijah wasn't interested in washing the thing. He looked relatively clean, and besides, what CRAB cared about it's hygiene, really? What Elijah REALLY wanted to study was HOW the fire crab shot fire out of it's butt... It seemed curious to him. Was there a particular SOMETHING about their butts that made them able to do that? Elijah knew *HE* had a particularly awesome backside that helped attract the ladies, but what if HE could shoot fire out of HIS butt? Surely that would impress them even more... "Okay lil' guy, we're going to be partners," he said, letting his fire crab in on what was occurring, "You are going to teach me the ways in your buttology." The bath could wait. The first idea that came to mind was an old trick he had seen even muggles try. The ole' farting on an open flame trick. Removing his wand from his pocket, he cast a small spell to ignite a tiny flame from the end of it. He moved the flame behind him, positioning right in front of his butt andddd... Well, this was the part where he was supposed to fart. But, he didn't need to fart. So... *SQQQUEEEEEZZZZEEEEEEE* *SQQQQQQQQQQUUUUUEEEEEEZZZEEEEEE* *SQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEZZZZEEEEEE* FART ALREADY!!!! |
Post 1 and Belle! SPOILER!!: Professor! Ella listened carefully as Professor Newlin explained how to correctly bathe the fire crabs. When the demonstration was finished, she looked at Belle with a nervous smile. "You ready for this?" Cause Ella was, even though she was feeling a bit apprehensive about the whole 'farting fire' aspect of the whole thing. "Just to be safe I'm going to use my gloves..." She shared allowed, reaching into her bag and removing them before placing them on. Now to get the fire crab into the bucket... Sitting down in the grass, Ella crossed her legs and leaned forward, peering into the cage seated in front of her. Carefully, very carefully, Ella opened up the fire crab's cage and decided to have a little pep talk before getting started. "Okay little guy, I'm Ella and I'm not going to hurt you." So no need to go on a fire farting rampage or anything, all would be good. "We're just going to take a little bath and then you'll be ready to go back in your cage, okay?" Blink. Blink. Did fire crabs even understand english? Meh. "Alright, I'm going to take you out now, okay?" And Ella reached into the cage, moving slowly so that she didn't startle the creature. When she had a hold of the thing, she lifted it and gently pulled it out from the cage. "That's it, good boy." Hm...And Ella figured if she was bathing the fire crab, she might as well name him. "I think I'll call you Martin." BEAM. Martin was the perfect name. And Ella placed MARTIN into the bucket just as carefully as she could. See? This wasn't so bad. Next step? Fill the bucket. |
Post 1 SPOILER!!: Ethan Minerva looked at Ethan and smiled as he chuckled at her, "Well now I know someone that can help me with all those crazy plants." she joked a bit. The plants and her got along pretty well, but it wasn't her favorite place to be either. She looked at her crab Sparks didn't seem to freaked out that she was near him or her maybe... Hopefully he or she wouldn't burn Minerva anytime soon. Then she giggled a bit, "Yes I was raised muggle. Had no idea that I was anything more until I moved my brothers toy truck one day after getting mad at him." she laughed at the memory. "That's when mom told me her secret." she then remembered her first year, "Oh yes, if the ghost didn't freak me out, the magic amazed me, and the house elves well that took some getting use to." she smiled towards him again. "Oh I like the name of your crab, very fitting." she looked over at the crab and then back to hers. Looking at the Professor as she said the instructions Minerva tried to remember them all. "Okay step 1 is to fill the bucket with water and soak the Fire Crab. That doesn't seem to hard." she looked over to Ethan and saw that he was already filling his bucket. She pointed her wand and filled her bucket as well. Then she looked at the crab, "I think the best thing to do is to pick them up towards the front so we aren't close to their fire butts." she giggled as she said this not really knowing why. Minerva took a deep breath and made sure her cage door was open. Then she closed it again seeing Ethan had gloves on. "That's a good idea" she was afraid she wouldn't be able to work very well with the gloves though, hmm she would try. Pulling out her gloves she put them on and reopened the cage. "Okay want to do this together.. Count of three.. 1...2..3.." Minerva reached her hand in and carefully pulled the fire crab out. "It's okay sparks I just want to clean you up." she smiled at the fire crab, but watched as she saw a flame come out its butt. "Oh don't do that.." she giggled again and then placed it in the water. "Now it's time for them to soak." |
#2 After the Fire Crab was soaked and Sophie had felt its shell for any cracks and whatnot, she grabbed the brush and started to brush the nice shell veeeeeeeeeery carefully. To make sure she wouldn't hurt the thing, she touched the area she would brush first with her fingers and then she'd brush it gently. If the Fire Crab got hurt or mad or something, it wouldn't be a pretty thing, right? Sophie didn't want that to happen, so she was going to be extra careful whenever she had to... do anything, really. While brushing, she took a glance at the floating instructions and made sure she was using a circular motion. Whenever she brushed the areas with buildups, Sophie would take a longer time there, brushing and brushing and brushing. Lightly, of course. Once she felt some scales while feeling the areas she was about to brush, she moved to another area. No, sir. There would be no mad Fire Crabs for Sophie to deal with. Nope. |
Post 1 - Nigel, if you still want meee Quote:
She peered at her lazy little buddy in his cage, silently willing him to do something. He did not comply with her wishes. Most people didn't, which was one of the sad things about witches and wizards in general. With a wave, she entreated Nigel to join her on the ground before turning her attention back to the bucket. "Do you need help filling yours?" Aguamenti was a pretty easy spell, but she'd learned from Lex not to assume that anyone already knew how to do a spell. Merlin, she hoped it didn't hurt his feelings to be asked. After a moment, she pointed her wand into her own bucket, said the incantation quite clearly (for any Nigels who wanted to observe), and filled the bucket halfway. Was that enough to cover the fire crab? |
Post 1 Quote:
He walked back and saw that the next activity had started. How long was he gone for. He could have sworn it was less than a minute. Nigel speed walked to his lazy fire crab. He picked up the cage and brought it over to were Vivi was. He put the bucket down and pointed his wand at it. He just about to ask her which spell was first because he always confused incendio and aquamenti. But that was answered when he watched Vivi used Aquamenti to fill up her bucket. "Do you know if we should name our fire crabs. Because they might become angry if they are nameless?" It was a good question unless Vivi wanted violent fire crabs. While waiting for an answer he put his fire crab in the bucket."Aquamenti" He waited till the bucket was half way filled before ending the spell. Now all he had to do was touch his nameless crab. |
Post 2 Quote:
"Yes, you're right. Names are important. Did you have something in mind for yours? Or maybe for both of them... make them a matched set?" She put her hands in the bucket to feel around for her fire crab (who really did need a name), and then Vivi rubbed the top of the shell lightly. Poor thing. How did they get so dirty anyway? SPOILER!!: Instructions |
