CoMC 3
|
When she heard the class would be in the pasture she practically bolted over. CoMC was already one of her favourite classes and being out in the open appealed to her a lot. A big table was the first thing she noticed...then the bins and finally the Professor. "Hello Professor!!" BEAM. As far as she could tell there weren't any animals around. This made her wonder just a bit. Didn't this class deal with creatures....-- Was a grass a creature that no one told her about?!?! She'd been walking on the stuff for as long as she could remember!! O___O EEeeeep. Lex hopped onto the table, taking a seat then looking curiously as the bins. What were they fooooooor? "Professor are we catching grass and learning the art of feeding it??" Even though they'd all neglected to pass along the little grass memo to her she could catch on quickly. In a place like this anything could be a creature... |
Professor & Lex! And a lesson outdoors...Just the thing Cassia needed because it is so very boring those days. So many classes and homework. Fifths years and seventh years are freaking out already about their final exams. Why did they have to freak out in public and bother the people who had nothing to do with it. She is a second-year and she only wanted to pass this term and have fun. She second-year headed to the grounds tucked in her robes and wearing light clothes underneath it. It was getting warmer. Once she reached the place where the lesson was held Cassia noticed that no one had yet showed up except for Lex. The Slytherin, grinned at her Professor, "Good Day Professor Newlin." The woman looked a liiitle bit better. Or Cassia forgot how the woman looked before. Then she took a look around and noticed no creatures. Were they hidden somewhere? In the bins? But the containers were small. Then the creatures were definitely small as well. Satisfied with that conclusion ,Cassia chose a spot next to Alex and settled. "Hey Lex..What do you think is in the bin?" She asked excitedly. The two girls mostly thought about the same thing. Except of course at Quidditch games when Lexa thought it was cool to paint her own face. "I think it's a small creature." Mhmm...It was so obvious..Duh! |
With his boy mittens on, Theo dragged himself to the final CoMC lesson on the grounds. Sure, it was getting a lot warmer these days, but Theo could probably feel the cold in Egypt. "Hi, Professor." He nodded, and then took a seat on the long table next to Cassia. "Hi!" He said, then acknowledged the Gryffindor next to her. Hummmm.... Theo remembered her as annoying, but he gave her a small smile anyway. Cos he was sooooooooooo friendly. Anyway... the boxes, what was in these boxes? |
Last CoMC class for the term. Kat walked all the way to pasture where the classes were usually held. Thought a bit happy today, she was still annoyed by the previous lesson because of the fwooper incident. Kat was actually half-considering that Newlin was a bit weird. Not insane, but just a bit weird. Sighs. Professors. "Hello Professor," Kat greeted the CoMC professor with a nod. Maybe a hint of a smile as well. Then the blonde looked for an available space to take a comfortable seat. If Kat senses another fwooper, she will REALLY run away before Newlin tries to 'unsilent' the bird. |
Outside of Herbology, due to Professor Bentley being her Head of House and all, coming to Care of Magical Creatures was the most conflicted the Gryffindor felt emotionally. Her favorite subject was coming to an end. Well, in terms of her years at Hogwarts that is seeing as she would be continuing her studies in the subject at university next year. Still, it was with a heavy heart that the Gryffindor finally made her way down and over towards the tables and bins. "Hello, Professor Newlin," she greeted, trying to force her lips into a smile but finding it rather difficult to do so. She then made her way over to the tables and bins as instructed and simply looked at it for a moment. Hmmm...what could they be doing today? Collecting...grass? |
Minerva walked to the pasture. Well they were having a lesson...outside.. in the grass.. open area.. yup they were sitting ducks. Was all Minerva could think about. She tried to push it out of her mind though, nothing had happened with that stupid plant in a while, so maybe it had enough and was being a good little whatever it was. She smiled towards Professor Newlin the best she could, "Hello Professor. Nice day today, isn't it." Looking around she found an empty place to sit and went over sitting around the bin. She wondered what they would be doing for the day and if there would be any animals shown. Looking around she did not see any, so she wasn't sure what the topic of discussion would be. Hopefully not another singing bird to make them all wacko again. |
Too many things had been happening at Hogwarts this term and she wan't looking forward to any lessons... not that she ever really looked forward to them. She was on high alert for a human eating plant and just really was not feeling being around animals... how many had they lost now? She walked to the pasture and didn't see any animals at all. Maybe the professor knew that it wasn't safe? "Hello professor!" She still seemed sad, not that Hannah could really blame her with everything that was going on. She took a seat in front of a bin and hoped that nobody was eaten today! |
Laura smiled as she walked into the classroom. "Good day Professor." Laura smiled this lesson was going to be awesome, well she was going to try and make it awesome anyway. |
Making his way down to Care of Magical Creatures, Dylan was...cautious. Was something going to die today? Not that it wouldn't be interesting...but everyone was getting pretty freaked out by it...and the Slytherin didn't want to be witness to it, just as a personal preference. Seeing a couple of his teammates present, the Captain made his way over, standing nearest to Kinsley with the table of bins stretched out in front of him. The lesson was starting normal enough, anyway..."Professor." Head nod to you....... |

Bliss scurried down to the pasture where today's Care of Magical Creatures lesson was being held. As she hurried, she tightened her red jacket more closely around her. Although it wasn't all that cold, she still wanted to wear her lovely warm jacket. Beside, Bliss was the type of person to get colds really easily and colds were not nice at all. Nu-huh. SIIIIIGH. Eventually she reached the edge of the pasture. She looked around and noticed that the pasture was clear of everything but students, the Professor, some bins and grass. Hmmm, this could be an interesting lesson. As she walked past the teacher, she gave a cheering, "Gooood day, Professor Newlin," before moving further into the pasture. She then noticed that everyone was sat behind one of the bins and she did that too. Now it's time to wait. MHMMM. |
a very cheerful Sarah is sitting on Lex's other side - Sarah was glad about the weather and she skipped merrily to classes. There was so much to be happy about she put her hand on her left hand side and felt for her heart - yes it was beating , she was alive. Her heart was beating, her lungs breathing, she had just gone to the bathroom so her digestive system was working just right. "HELLO PROFESSOR" she sang out merrily. "Ain't the weather glorious! I am so happy to be alive on such a nice day" she said. She then spotted Lex, Cassia and Mr. Grumpy and she went to sit on the other side of Lex. "Hey guys" she chirped. "Lex," she said to her friend, "I love Hogwarts in the Spring". Then she noticed Bliss, "Hiya Bliss! Don't you love the spring breeze, the fresh air carrying wafts of blooming flowers..." Yes, Sarah was in a VERY GOOD MOOD! |
Last COMC class of the term..... and it was completely devoid of animals? Vickers eyed those plastic bins, seemingly empty from where he stood. He then eyed the Professor next, wondering if she was going to do something crazy like what she did the last class. Having them hear the Fwoopers' song.... insanity that was. Literally. So there he sat a bit far away for where the Professor was, just in case she might spring something at them out of the blue. As for his greeting? A simple, polite nod of his head. Merlin knows if greeting her good day might not actually be good for him at all... |
Bins? One could only guess what was hiding in there for them. Alex was still focused on the fire crab assignment he had to complete for this class to worry about it too much. Softy needed a bath soon, and he was dreading it. He wanted those points, though! As he walked in, he took a seat near one of the bins and smiled. "Hello Professor Newlin," he said happily. |
Time for another lesson of Care of Magical Creatures. The redhead made her way down to the pasture where the lesson was going to be held while she chewed on a muffin. It was around second breakfast and she couldn't exactly miss it, so food on the go was her best option. Just as she arrived at the lesson she finished swallowing her last bit of muffin. And now she was full of a happy tummy. With a smile on her face, she nodded to Professor Newlin, "Good day, Professor." With good days exchanged, she made her to the table and waited for the lesson to start. |
Eliza wondered what the lesson would be about this time. It had been a little...ruckus last time, which was fun and all, but she was getting a little worn out from all the happenings at the school lately. Not to mention how crazy she'd felt as she ran around Hogwarts due to the fwooper's song. It had been a lot of fun, but she thought perhaps she should stay a bit more sane at the school now, given the circumstances. She walked past the professor and gave a polite greeting with a smile. "Hello Professor Newlin," she said and kept walking. Now what are these bins for? She tried to look through the plastic sides of them, but her view was obscured by the density of the material. Darn...guess I'll just have to wait. She took in a breath of fresh air and exhaled slowly. A nice relaxing day in the grass hopefully? |
Ella wasn't feeling so good as she made her way to the last Care of Magical Creatures lesson. The third year was quite tired and the fact that this was the last CoMC lesson of the term didn't do anything to help her mood. "Hello Professor Newlin." She greeted as cheerfully as she could, giving the woman a genuine smile. The third year then quietly made her way to an empty space at the table, eyes on the ground. Meh. |
As Belle entered her favorite class ever, she was walking down and saw there were bins in front of their seats. Belle was kind of confused but knew the professor might have a fun lesson planned for all of them. Belle saw the professor and smiled and greeted with, "Hello Professor Newlin! How are you today?" Belle was curious about what was in the bin. She could not help but look at it. |
Gideon couldn't believe he had gotten a late start. The prefect having nearly fallen back asleep after breakfast. It was all this studying he had done before, having gotten involved in reading and lost track of time. Not good...not good at all. After enjoying some tea, he headed down to the pasture where the lesson was mention to be taking place, finding the bins that had been laid out. There was also a good amount of students already there though thankfully a glance at his watch showed that he wasn't in fact late which allowed him to relax. "Good morning, Professor Newlin," he greeted with a polite nod. Following her instructions for the class, Gideon moved towards one of the tables that lay infront of the various bins. One could only guess what might be inside or at least what they would be dealing with for this class, but it wasn't as if they had to wait too long for all to be revealed in the end. |
Woo! Care of Magical Creatures. Anya had been having a yearlong struggle with trying to not seem so clueless when it came to this lesson. In fact... she'd taken to reading the textbook and trying to forget everything her brother and almost sister had told her. She'd found that she'd been doing way better since then. "Hello Professor." she said brightly as she approached. ... wait, what? These bins looks suspiciously NOT like a magical creature that she should be caring for. She hesitantly took a spot in front of one trying not to look too disappointed. |
Yawning, Jake entered the pasture. He hadn't slept well the night before and had seriously debated skipping class and sleeping. But his studious side had gotten the better of him and so here he was. "Good morning, Professor," he greeted with a wave as he looked up to see Professor Newlin. He turned toward the seats and headed over, slipping into the desk next to Anya. Yawning again, he looked over at her. "Hey." |
Sierra made her way down to the area where the next Care of Magical Creatures lesson would be held. As she walked across the grounds, she looked around, admiring the way the weather had changed and was starting to become warmer. Ahh, sixth year, coming to a close. It was sort of scary in a way, really. Entering the class area, she took a seat and sat silently as she waited for things to get underway. A few seconds later, she noticed the professor nearby and gave her a small smile. "Hello, Professor," she said. |
Jory was pleased to be outside again for another class. More classes should be kept outside, he decided looking around at the pasture. As he reached the students, he noticed they were standing in front of what looked like bins. But there were no creatures today. "Weird,'' he muttered. "Good day, Professor,'' he said before he followed suit and stood in front of one of the bins. |
Lex strolled into class, constantly flicking her pink fringe out of her eyes. "Good morning Professor," she smiled. She sat at one of the further away ables. Lex noticed the large plastic bins that was placed on top of the table. She looked around the room and saw that this was the same for the rest of the students. No creatures? Hmph, well that was a disappointment. What was 'Care of Magical Creatures' class without the Magical Creatures part? Oh well, hopefully there was some sort of fun aspect to this. |
As more and more students began to fill up the pasture, it was slightly difficult to keep up her sore mood. Sure, she had been taking the death and now recently, disappearance of some of her creatures very hard, but it wasn't at all the students fault. She shouldn't have shown weakness in front of them! Now they probably thought she was all mopey all the time, which she was not. So, everytime a student greeted her, and even the few who didn't, she chirped up with a "HELLO!" and a smile. It was going to be a GOOD lesson, if not GREAT. There were no creatures around, but just because it was a creatures class, didn't mean there had to be any. At least, Vanora was going to tell herself that. Still, the lesson should be fun. "No, we're not going to be doing anything that involves grass." she laughed softly at Alexa's question before shooing her with her hands so she would hop off the table. They needed that to work. And that shooing went to everyone who was sitting on the table. Glancing down at her watch once the table was child-free, Vanora decided it was time to officially start the lesson. "Hello, everyone, and thanks for coming to the last lesson of the term!" Yay! She waited for the That was a big enough hint, though, right? Ehh. Vanora stood back to see if it was. |
Vickers eyed the bins, taking note of what the Professor said-- indeed there were no holes so it wasnt going to be for a creature's temporary home when its transported somewher, so therefore its "Is it to store something Professor, like creatures suppliesused in bathing or feeding or such?" |
And greeting for Sarah 'cause I never did Ooooo and then Sarah came and hopped on the table too. She gave the girl wide grin, not failing to notice just how good a mood she was in. She would've asked her what made her so happy but then she remembered the conversation she had with the girl back in Hogsmeade; the girl was simply rather easily content. "I love the spring too!" Lex turned to the Professor again when she commented on there not being grass inside. At this point the girl gave her an embarrassed smile. She couldn't tell whether the Professor was humouring her or if she was genuinely correcting her but either way she should have known it couldn't have been grass... She hopped off the table when she was instructed to then turned her attention to the bins again; yes she would be ignoring the whole last CoMC of the term talk because she didn't like thinking that soon she'd be going home and Kevin would be lonely... "Are they like little make believe animals and creatures inside then?" She asked, tilting her head slightly and staring over at her curiously. She would've guessed differently but then the woman emphasized the whole living point and well...that kinda had her. |

Laura looked at the meany Professor. "Professor is it were the food is kept?" Laura thought it would be an odd place to store the food it was suppost to be stored in a nice place like a barn or somewhere else but certainly it shouldn't be stored in a bin. |
Professor..Lex..Theo & HI!Sarah It looked like this last lesson won't have interacting with creatures, which was a shame because Cassia enjoyed working with creatures. However, it also wasn't likely to get bored because the Slytherin now was accompanied by Alexa and Theo. The second-year beamed at her friend, "Hi Theo!" She greeted him before hearing Lex say something about grass. Cassia shrugged, "We'll find out soon. And let's hope it's something fun and not boring." Because she had enjoyed the last two lessons and was hoping that the last one would be as fun as the previous ones. Then Sarah sat next besides Lex and Cassia grinned at the Gryffindor. Such a nice group they had. But it wasn't time to socialize as Professor Newlin started speaking. Cassia turned her attention to the woman and listened. So indeed no creatures. And like always they were to guess what they were going to do. And such question wasn't one of Cassia's favorites as she never guessed correctly not ever close. She stared down at her bin and mused. What would a small bin contain if not a small creature. Then after good minutes the Slytherin raised her hand and spoke. "Could it contain parts of creatures." Wait that wasn't what she meant. "I don't mean organs but maybe feathers or fur or teeth..." She offered. Then she put down her hand and sat back. "I hope it's nothing disgusting.." She said in a low tone that only Theo and Lex would be able to hear. And if someone was eavesdropping which wasn't likely. |
Minerva looked at the bins as Professor Newlin began class. What could be in them, she had no clue. Many different thought ran through her mind with it though... feed, stuff from the barn that could need repaired, tools to go and dig for different foods to help with the animals, maybe a chopped up half burned plant... The last one was more of a wish then an actual thought, but Minerva smiled just a bit with it anyway. Putting up her hand Minerva looked once again at Professor Newlin, "Could it be some tools that we are going to need for our lesson today. Maybe helping with things around the pasture that could use fixed to ensure the animals wouldn't wonder off." As soon as the words were out she wanted them back in her mouth. She was just letting her mind wondered, but how rude to say wonder off after what they had just been through. Looking at the professor she whispered "sorry professor" and looked down again. She knew they had been in that forest just a few weeks ago, she knew the Abranaxe along with some other animals were gone.. |
Bins. What were they going to do with bins? It was a bit obvious that Kat did not fully recover from the fwooper problem but... well, she tried to maintain a quite cheerful mood today. And... did Newlin just get insane or what? She was smiling so weirdly and beaming and HELLO! and... just unusual. Whatever. Newlin was not Kat's priority at the moment. "Maybe they are tools or equipment of some sort," Kat said. But she wasn't so sure. It's worth a try, please. This was obviously better than not answering anything. Wrong or not, whatever it was. Kat did not like guessing games unless they're FUN. |
So they weren't going to be dealing with creatures at all today. Honestly Hannah wasn't surprised considering all the deaths that the professor had to endure this year. Did she even have any animals left? Then they had to guess what was in the bin. Hannah hated guessing stuff and it seemed like all of the professors liked to always have them guessing. She didn't know... she thought it was funny that some of the students thought it was grass. Grass would be pretty safe with all things considered. Still she sided with the ones that thought that it was something to do with the care of animals. That would make sense considering they were dropping like flies around here. "Professor, I too think that it is something that will help us care for the creatures." What that something was though she was entirely sure. |
Text Cut: Destiny No. Well, that was the answer to the question. Sierra didn't really want to guess. She was content with just revealing the answer and moving on. That didn't seem to be the case, though, so she stared at the bins a bit before raising her hand. "So I'm guessing you've got tools and supplies in there," she said. "Maybe a bit of food. Are we going to feed the creatures or something?" If so, somebody else could feel the large creatures. Sierra would volunteer for a bird. That way, all she had to do was throw seeds or something in the air. |

"Are we going to examine the parts of some creature, Professor? Sometimes the study of bones, skin, or other remains can be more instructive and less intrusive than trying to study an animal that wants to do its own thing." |
Ella's eyes traveled from the container to the Professor and back again, a faint smile playing on her lips. She was still in a sour mood but she figured if Professor Newlin to feign happiness with all that happened this term, Ella could put on a happy face too. What might be inside the container? Ella didn't really have the slightest idea. She figured it wasn't food because there were no magical creatures in sight and she didn't know what else they'd do with food besides feed the animals. The only other thing she figured it could be was tools used to care for the animals but that had already been said as well. Shrug. The blonde sat quietly waiting to begin. |
Addie smiled at the teacher and was sad that it was the last class of the term. She had learned to like COMC. It was definitely a class that she was going to continue in her final year at Hogwarts. When the professor asked about what was in the bins Addie began to examine it. Umm...well it wasn't a creature so that was good. Because if there was a creature that would be plain cruel. Addie raised her hand. "Professor, are there tools or supplies in here to help take care of different creatures," like the fire crabs or something. Addie heard people asking about dead body parts of animals and hoped that it wasn't that, because Addie didn't want to see dead animals. It would just be extremely sad. |
Kurumi glanced at the bins and then back to the professor. Well, yeah, no creatures would be in those or else they would suffocate, but it was nice for the clarification. The Gryffindor was really only half paying attention to what others were saying, her eyes instead focusing on the bins and the lack of any live creatures in the area. It was rather uncommon for Professor Newlin to have a lesson and there not be anything around for them to look at...which made her think that they wouldn't be. At all. "Nothing?" Kurumi asked with a small shrug. "We are going to be filling them with something. Perhaps clean up and putting things into storage." Because they looked like storage bins. |
Belle saw the professor and she was sad that this was the last class of the term. It felt like term just started. Then she heard the professor ask a question and wondered what could be in the box she was standing in front of. Well it did not have breathing holes. So it was not a live creature. That was logical. Belle was then contemplating about what else could be in the box. Some of her classmates said that it might be a storage for tools to use on creatures that the professor was hiding from them. Belle thought about that too. But Belle had no clue. She heard Krummi's idea and she agreed with it. It might be nothing. She maybe putting too much thought into it. Belle just stood there still thinking. Then she raised her hand, "Professor i agree with Krummi, i think there is nothing really other than storage." |
Jory's eyes travelled to the bins in front of the class. What could possibly be in there? He pondered. "Er... maybe food for the creatures?'' he asked, his hand in the air. Yup, maybe the class would need to sort out particular foods for some of the creatures? |
Anya looked at the Professor and then down to the bin in front of her. She gave a little squeal and jumped back. "If... if they're not live..." She looked down at the box again. She tentatively raised a hand, "Professor... there's not dead creatures in these things, are there?" Because. ...thatwouldbereallyreallysad. And. If she was completely off base. Then the Professor needed to NOT hint at such tragic things. |
...There wasn't anything living in the boxes. That would have been obvious at some point, right? Because there would be noise and moving and stuff inside the boxes. He studied them for a second before leaning back in his chair and raising his hand. "Stuffed animals?" It was entirely possible. Sure, Jake didn't know what the educational value of stuffed animals would be... but it was still an option. |
Bliss thought about what the Professor said, that there were to living animals in the boxes and she'd but some emphasise on the word living. So, perhaps they weren't alive. Bliss raised her hand. "Are there dead animals in them?" She asked, "you know, to feed other animals or to use for a specific purpose?" Because, somehow she didn't expect them just have dead creatures for no reason whatsoever. That would just be sillllllly. She sat and twiddled her thumbs, while waiting for the answer. The second year was very curious to see what was it the boxes, but she'd just have to wait. It was a good job that she was patient and had some sort of self control, otherwise the lid on that box would have been ripped off long ago. SMIRK. But Bliss wouldn't do thaaat. She was a good girl. |
SPOILER!!: Professor "Professor, this bin seems like a storage of some sort. Are we to fix cages or the like?" |
Louisa was eying the bin very curiously, she'd noticed that there were no visible breathing holes but figured professor Newlin could possibly have charmed the bin to be breath-able somehow. Apparently not. So it was not a living thing nor grass. It should be something that relate to creatures though, this was kind of the point of this class. Some suggestions from her fellow students were as usual silly, horrible or really good. Louisa felt the pang in her chest once again, in a few weeks she won't be enjoying the company of this crazy gang again. Unless they do reunion parties, in which case she wasn't sure she wanted to see the firsties (e.g. Alexa) with kids of their own. That'd just make her look older. Where was she again? Oh right! Class! Care! Creatures! Bin! "I think it's food too, professor." She'd raised her hand. "Not the regular kind I'd say but the one that we could feed to creatures." Pause. "Dead ferrets maybe?" |
No holes in the top, did not hold any animals. Well, Selina was not exactly sure what the holders held. The only thing she could think they would be would have been, "Food, Professor? Could it be holding food?" In all honesty, that made some sense. |
Forget all the almost correct answers, and the plain silly ones, but were some students actually thinking that she would put DEAD, non-LIVING creatures in a bin like that!? Especially after everything that had happened during the term!? Oh Merlin. Holding a third lesson was a bad, bad idea. Vanora stared and glared, glared and stared at the few who guessed that, and just to get her point across, she glared!stared some more! No dead creatures in her lessons. She would save that stuff for Lafay. "No dead creatures." And since it seemed like everyone who wanted to answer did just that, plus the fact that she didn't want to hear anymore dead creatures answer, she continued. "Good guesses, though." Expect the dead creature ones. "But there actually is something inside of the bins." For those who said nothing. Anyway.. "Most of your guesses were fairly close, but Cassia and Genevieve were spot on. We're not going to be examining what's inside, however, but we will be working with it, and you'll all be making your own one of these.." Pausing for just a moment, to build up the suspense, Vanora reached into her pocket and pulled out her very own drawstring bag. She placed it on the middle of the long table for everyone to see.. just in case they couldn't before. "I figured we would do something easy and fun for the last lesson, after everything that had happened, plus, these little bags sure do come in handy." Maybe if she made a bag big enough, she could put all her creatures inside of it and protect them FOREVER!!! Or.. maybe not. "The Mokeskin in your bins is already processed and charmed," and colored, so that no one complained about having a color they didn't like, "so once you open the bin and touch the skin, it will know who its owner is. And it'll work accordingly. So, before we begin, and so we can get a little insight on how these bags work exactly; what is a moke?" |
Quote:
|
This confirmed her suspicions right now. They would not be handling creatures this lesson and it brought a slight frown to the Gryffindor's face. It was a thought that almost made her miss the next question that had been asked of them, but the seventh year had heard it...just chose to remain silent for a few more moments. She couldn't really blame the woman for not wanting to include creatures considering everything that had happened this term and not knowing when or where that bloody plant was going to attack next. But, right, they were talking about moke. "A moke is silver green lizard creature with a Ministry rating of XXX, meaning it is relatively harmless. They are prized for their skin which is used to make anti-theft pouches and bags due to the creature's ability to shrink itself at will." Glancing into the bin, Kurumi looked at all the pouches and wondered which one to pick. Instead of one of the more colorful varieties, Kurumi selected a simple brown one. She was never one for fancy bags anyway. Simple was always best to her. |

Theodore didn't have a clue what was in the box, maybe a bug, seeing as it wasn't moving at all. Creatures DID tend to wriggle, so he was at least thankful that no kind of fire breathing dragon was inside. They were making... bags? What... what did that have to do with anything? He sighed. "Is it an animal?" Technically, that wouldn't be wrong. The second year eyed the example bag when the professor said about it being made out of moke skin. "Poor moke...." |
Text Cut: Professor Newlin Now! No thing could widen the second-year's grin any more after her guess turned out to be correct. Cassia was getting the hang of those guessing questions at the beginning of each lesson. Well, at least in some subjects. Which was good. She was improving. Now back to the bins and what they contained. Though there were no creatures this lesson it still seemed to be an interesting one especially when Professor Newlin showed them that bag. So they were going to make stuff from creatures skins Or something like that. That was promising.. And yup it was settled that they were gonna make bags! Cassia beamed already excited about the idea. She'd have a bag that she had made it herself! How cool was that. So they start now? Apparently not. Another question... "It is a lizard.." Which was already mentioned. "silver-green skinned.." Already mentioned too. Wait she remembers hearing her father telling her about them. "It's said that bags made from mokeskin can fit for anyyyything."Well, something like that she doesn't have an accurate memory. And come to think of it it really is handy. Perhaps Cassia would put all her stuff in just in case the common rooms decided to lock up on her precious stuff again.Mhhmm.. |
SPOILER!!: Newlin So the bins were... empty? Well ok, he gets that, but there was something he wasnt quite following. He angled his head when the Professor brought out the mokeskin pouch, partially listening to the other students as they gave out the answer to the Professor's question. they will be making their own one of these..... pouches? He glanced at the mokeskin in his hand, now already turning into a shade of black and dark silver. Slowly he raised his hand, a perplexed look on his face "Professor... are we making another mokeskin pouch... out of the bins?" because he wasnt quite following why they had to make a pouch when they were already given one. |
Laura looked at the Professor. "A Moke is a lizard with silver-green skin it is rated XXX by the Ministry and it is native to the British Isles." Laura smiled she was really sure she was right, she had been reading up on different creatures trying to improve her knowlege on the subject. |
Well doing something fun and easy was always a good thing. However she had a feeling that the professor's and her idea of something fun were two totally different things. They were going to be making drawstring bags? She watched as the professor pulled out hers. UGH! That was not cute! Hannah could not be seen carrying around one of those. She would just go along with it and burn it later. Moke? At first Hannah was going to ask the professor if she meant Mole. Then it hit her... duh! "A moke is a silver green lizard." She would have went on more about it, but what was the point when you had others students that would give out the textbook answer? |
... This lesson didn't seem so interesting... That was sad. GRUMP. But Kat kept her attention at Professor Newlin. Kat initially knew that a moke was a lizard, duh. Gosh is there anything else to say about a moke aside that it is awesome because it was like a lizard? Honestly, a moke didn't have enough information so maybe Kat would stick with the general info but someone else got it. Gulp. "I agree that mokes are native to the British Isles," the blonde said. Now... mental glares for the one who answered it before her. |
Well that wasn't what she expected to be in the bins at all. She had no idea what to make of it and didn't know how she felt about it not being something cooler--but only because she didn't know what the heck it was in the first place. Not very good considering the Professor was asking questions about the...moke, was it? Right, that word. Whatever it was. She leaned against the table and began using her foot to play with a few blades of grass while she listened to the others give answers that would most likely be right. She wouldn't even attempt this one because she'd never heard about anything like a moke before in her entire life. Oh? So that's what it was! Oooo, well NOW she had an answer. Yup. Lex raised her hand. "Professor it's yet another creature that I don't have for a pet, 'cept I didn't know about this one so I couldn't bother Daddy to get me one. Would you say it's highly recommendable for a 12 year old?" because you know...she'd be turning 12 soon. Inside she was hoping the answer was no because that made the creature sound more desirable and usually strengthened her drive. |
OOoohhh... that was an interesting twist. Max was kind of disappointed he wouldn't be working with a live creature during his last class, but he supposed this was still a useful topic nonetheless. Mokes were wicked cool and useful, and Max raised a hand to elaborate on that opinion. "A moke is a fairly small magical lizard - and it shrinks to be even smaller when it wants to." Which WAS really, really cool. "The skin is good for bags and purses 'cause the bag will shrink at anyone but the owner's touch so no one else can get inside it." |
Eliza had heard about these mokeskin bags and she had always wanted one. So glad it's not a gross lesson. Those ingredients in potions were too much. She did wonder how they came upon the skins though, but she doubted this professor would have gotten them in any negative way. "Yes, I agree. The mokeskin bag will only open for its owner. They're very special creatures, so their skins come in handy. But...where did these come from, Professor?" she asked hesitantly. |
W-whaaaa? They were going to use the thing in the bin? Huh. Cool. Louisa swung her legs back and forth as she listened to professor Newlin speaking about.. moke. Plenty of students already gave a suffiecient answer covering all the points Louisa was going to mention. But when Max elaborated on the changing of size issue, Louisa shot her hand in the air and continued right after him, "Which is why Muggles never noticed the moke... since it has the ability to shrink at will." Did someone already mention this? The Ravenclaw lowered her hand slowly and listened for other answers from her fellow students. |
Belle was excited to be learning about the moke. She heard of it but never got to actually use it. Then she heard the professor ask about what the moke is. She only heard first hand accounts from her grandmother. Belle raised her hand and said, "Professor the moke is a green or silver lizard that cannot be seen by muggles. It has the ability to shrink at will." That is all she knew so far. Belle was excited to have her own moke skin bag. She heard that Harry Potter got his moke skin bag for his birthday. Well what she heard from her grandmother of course. |
SPOILER!!: Professor Newlin Ella was actually feeling a bit more cheerful after witnessing Professor Newlin glare at the students who suggested there might be dead creatures inside the bins. First off, ICK. Keeping dead creatures in a bin just seemed so....so....wrong. Squirm. Secondly, given all the weird and horrible things that had happened to the creatures recently the suggestion seemed a bit insensitive to Ella. The glaring, though? This made Ella smile a little to herself. She felt like glaring too, Professor Newlin. You go, girl. Ohhhh! Mokeskin bags? BEAM. That was quite a nice idea. Not as fun as working with a live creature but the third year couldn't exactly blame the Professor for not wanting to put any other creatures in danger. "Professor, a mokeskin bag or erm...pouch carries items which only the owner of the pouch can get out! It's also quite larger than it appears on the outside. I mean....it can carry more items than one might think. Oh and a moke is...a lizard thing-y that can shrink!" Yup. And that's all. |

Awww no that poor moke! It had been turned in to a bag! Sad. Alex hated to see poor little animals turned in to fashion statements! He raised his hand. "Mokes are magical lizards that can shrink whenever they want, and they can't be seen by muggles. So sort of like chameleons I think...but cooler," he said with a head nod. |
