After much deliberation, Vanora had decided to hold her second lesson of the term in the barn. The cold helped speed up that decision just a little bit, and as you make your way into the building, you'll notice that not a single trace of winter could be found inside. Winter was definitely not her favorite of seasons. The creatures could all be seen from where the lesson was going to take place, resting in their stalls or gazing at you curiously from their cages.
Say hello to them all if you like before taking a seat on one of the few benches scattered about. Or perhaps you are much too curious about what those funky looking stands located at the back of the barn are going to be used for.
Still distraught over the death of her BABIES, Professor Newlin is not yet inside. She needed to brush her hair compose herself first.
OOC: This lesson will start later, later, laaaaaater today!

Or maybe it was Destiny's. That probably made more sense.
She stayed quiet while the dodo Diricawl was brought out. She'd already made a fool of herself in front of the Professor in regards to that animal.

Oooh. Anya raised her hand. "That's a fwooper." she offered.
And yes. She had read her textbook. She didn't want to make any more embarrassing mistakes.
"They're from Africa." And they came in pretty colors. But... she probably shouldn't say that if she was going to word it like that.

perhaps it was about time that she thought of naming all the creatures in the barn. It wasn't like she didn't want to name them, because she did! But there were just so many creatures! And she really was a horrible name picker. Kurumi knew her coati's name, after all. "He," Vanora glanced over at Befelda and gave her a smile. "does not have a name. There's an attachment that comes with naming a creature. And since these aren't technically mine.."
She didn't have to finish that. She did nod her head, though. Of course the bird was comforted. Being petted felt nice.. she figured.
"Oh, is that so, Professor? Well, anyways, I just thought he was yours or something.", Befelda exclaimed. She thought that the creature was the Professor's pet.
SPOILER!!: Fwooper

She eyed Cora warily before slowing backing away from her and stopping next to the Augurey once again. Back to the lesson. "Well, time is actually running out for this lesson, so instead of me bringing out the Diricawl like I had planned," not that she could find any of them now anyway, thanks to the crying. "I'm just going to bring out the final creature." And if no one could tell by the look on her face, she was beyond excited for this.

Befelda almost screamed when the bright-colored bird perched right on top of the stand. She knows what that is. It's a Fwooper.
"Professor, it's a Fwooper. She's so cute!", she couldn't help herself but be amazed with the orange bird. "Anyway, it's a magical African bird in which its song will drive a person insane. A silencing charm is needed for this bird. But, she's really cute!", Befelda couldn't help herself.

Really?
A dinosaur?
Vanora actually had to stop and stare at the fwooper perched next to her to try and see how in the world Laura came up with that answer. Not that she was a dinosaur expert or anything, but she had seen them in books. She had never seen one that looked remotely close to a fwooper. She shrugged her shoulders at the Hufflepuff's question before turning towards Genevieve.. and Kurumi. "You are welcome to the barn anytime." Although.. "You might want to rethink staying after the lesson, though.." And she was just going to let that hang in the air for a few moments.
Or.. until now.
"Right. So, as everyone already mentioned," everyone except Laura that is, "this is a fwooper. And for those wondering, she does have a silencing charm on her right now." She made extra sure it was still in place before she brought it out. Anyway.. "Even though she is still considered a juvenile, the song she sings will still have some effect on you. Nothing permanent, of course. And unless you did so before, the song won't cause you to wear a badger on your head as a hat." Jokes, see. She could still joke. "The effects will last a maximum of two hours, so there is nothing to worry about." And if the effects did last longer than that, the kid was probably crazy to begin with and she would just send them to Cece.
Grabbing the stand, Vanora carefully and slowly pulled it so that she was standing in the middle of everyone with it and the bird. "If you'd rather not participate in this, even though I promise you it will be fun, you can leave now." And she wouldn't hold it against them.
She gave those who wished to leave time before pulling out her wand and removing the charm from the fwooper, and it seemed the bird realized that even before the students had. Throwing her head back, the bird opened her beak, the soothing sound of her song ringing throughout the barn.
Soothing.. soothing..
Vanora was already feeling giggly, and after a moment's time, she placed the silencing charm right back. Hehe. "You are all dismissed!"
And that was her plan all along.
She also needed to find her abraxan.
OOC: I APOLOGIZE AGAIN FOR BEING SO SLOW!!! GAH! This thread will stay open for about 36 hours to give you plenty of time to post you charrie reacting to the fwooper, or leaving the barn, whatever. XD Oh, and go crazy! The effects will only last 1-2 hours. =D

Vickers was scribbling away on his parchment as the Professor continued with her lecture, the Abraxan incident slowly fading from his mind. Such was his thoughts that things are going back to normal he didnt even think her moving that Fwooper in the middle of the barn and talking about the effects of its song was a cause for alarm until she said something about them leaving if they didnt want to participate....
Huh? What is she talking ab--
-- Did she just remove the silencing charm?
It may have been a little too late for him to realize this to cover his ears before the bird song started filtering through. It was rather beautiful, and one's initial reactions to those was not to avoid them. But finally with whatever semblance of logic was still left he grabbed his parchment, covered his ears and made a run out of the barn just as the Professor said they were dismissed. How badly has this affected him? Merlin knows.... and perhaps soon all of Hogwarts will.

Minerva was listening to the Professor talk about the Fwooper and then she said about it's song. So the other students were correct. That worried Min a little, but she breathed easier knowing that there was a silence charm on it. Well that will be fun to pet the bird and still be safe she thought, since that was what they did with the other bird. It was a pretty thing wasn't it. She still wasn't sure how Laura thought it was a dinosaur, but the thought didn't shock her coming from her friend.
Then..then Professor did what?
She just took the charm off the bird.. That..well that wasn't nice at all. What was she trying to do make students go nuts even though they were close to that anyway sleeping on the floor for so long. Honestly let's had crazy to their grumpy and see what happens, but all that left as the bird started singing. She couldn't help but smile and listen even when the professor said the class was dismissed she just sat there listening to the song. It was like she didn't want to leave.
Finally she started to get up giggles"Have a good day professor"As she turned to leave she tripped landing on the ground next to Ethan's feet. Giggling more she looked up at him. "Well then still falling around you..." She tried to get up, but was having a hard time as her laughing was taking over.

Wait..what? Ella had been eyeing the bird and maybe not paying attention to what Professor Newlin was saying.... Oh come on, it was a FWOOPER! Ella was fascinated so she couldn't possibly be blamed for the not listening thing. On the other side of things, Ella could't possibly blame Professor Newlin for the fact that she hadn't left before the woman removed the silencing charm. WHOOPS.
Hey! The Fwooper's song wasn't so bad at all. It made the fourteen year old grin and then suddenly without reason, the blonde started to giggle.
GIGGGGGGGGGLEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...
Erm. Blink. Blink. This was odd.
She continued to giggle to herself as she gathered her things. GIGGLE. 'Things' was quite a funny word. Things. Things. Things. Hehehehe. The badger then got up and headed towards the door, giving Professor Newlin a finger wiggle on the way out. Wiggle. Wiggle. Giggggggggle.

Gosh, the term was getting STRANGER by the minute. Newlin's abraxan just disappeared. What the firebolt was happening? AND THEN... Newlin was going to lift the Silencing Charm out of the Fwooper? Was she mad? Did she need to go to St. Mungo's. "Professor, I think..." Too late. The Silencing Charm was gone. "Oh no..." Kat told herself.
The bird started singing. Kat immediately got her bag and slung it then ran away, covering her ears with her hands. Oh gosh. She was 100% sure she'd completely lose it soon. Merlin. You see? THAT PROFESSOR WAS MAD.

She probably should have started jotting down the things the Professor was saying but really she was much too interested in the pretty bird that made her aunt get more fun. She wondered what would happen if she got one for Amanda. Maybe then the woman would lighten up a little instead of being such a pain.
Wait what?! The Professor thought they'd actually want to leave? Right when they were about to do something cooool? Had the woman been listening to the bird in her spare time?
After watching a few wimps leave she focused on the bird again and grinned when the Professor removed the charm. Now she could hear the pretty music she'd been told about!! Eeep!
She began rocking to the song of the bird. Pssh and here her dad said the woman was out of her mind. She seemed to know what she was talking about. People around here were giggling...giggling an awful lo--Ooooo ants! Hellooooooo there....
Giggle...giggle...
...was her shoe always that colour? Sooooo prettiful.
Oh but then they had to leave. "I like your class Professor." Giggle. "It makes people happy."

Eliza was all for feeling a bit silly, especially if it only lasted a couple of hours. What could it hurt? She couldn't help but grin in anticipation of the bird's song as she watched some of the other students rush out of the classroom. Well they're not much fun are they? She sat in her desk and smiled at the bird who was supposedly about to make her a bit loopy.
When Professor Newlin unsilenced it and the fwooper began to sing, she wasn't sure she felt anything happening. Does that mean I'm already mad? She tapped her fingers on the desk impatiently, waiting for the effects. And then she felt them.
Woah, she thought as her head whirled. Then, a strange tickling in her brain happened. She didn't even know what it was about but it made her grin uncontrollably. I'm the Cheshire Cat! She stood up with her bag and pranced happily over to the professor before she left.
"This is great!" she said whilst holding back giggles. "Thank you for the fun!" she said with a deranged smile.
She went out of the room skipping and singing aloud to herself all the while. Look out Hogwarts.
Minerva was listening to the Professor talk about the Fwooper and then she said about it's song. So the other students were correct. That worried Min a little, but she breathed easier knowing that there was a silence charm on it. Thankful that the chaos was soon under control as the professor took charge, Ethan's drifted towards the front of the room as the baby fwooper was brought out. Yes, he knew a bit about them.. but let a few of the over-zealous students answer while he simply sat and vaguely watched the professor interact with the little bird.
Yeah, yeah.. the little thing had a silencing charm.. of course it did. Everyone knew that.. er, what? Was the woman mad? Apparently Newlin made a habit of lifting the silencing charm now and then..
And, since class was dismissed, Ethan started to collect his things.. then sat back in his seat, becoming more and more hypnotized by the soothing music.. He felt like getting up to dance.. and did he? Probably, but it was like a dream to the boy, not knowing what was real or not. Laughing with what could only be described as manly giggles, he swept his bag off the floor and onto his shoulder. "There's my dancing partner.." he said, spotting Minnie on the ground in front of him. Scooping her up, he twirled her around a few times, then pulled her out of class by her hand.. giving Newlin a cheesy grin and a super-excited wave with his free hand on the way out.

She also needed to find her abraxan.
Sierra just stared at the Fwooper. A dinosaur?! Honestly? At least it had been a Puffer. That sort of thing was expected of them. Had it been a Slytherin, Sierra would have just hung her head in shame. She followed along as the professor discussed the Fwooper. A juvenile, hmm? So it's effects hadn't exactly matured yet, which would be the reason why it could only make you crazy for about two hours.
She was following along sort of nonchalantly until the professor mentioned something about participating or opting out. Opting out of...what? What was she about to do?!
WHOA. Wait...what?! Had she just... She had! Sierra grabbed her bookbag and bolted for the door. Only, before she even made it there, she started giggling loudly and rand smack into a part of the barn.
Ethan had taken his seat next to Minerva and resumed listening to the class and their answers. He vaguely watched the others interact with the Augurey.. wondering if maybe his parents would let him have one.. and still hoping to see a diricawl soon. He had seen one before, but never got to touch one or feed it.. maybe he could today.
The boy became vaguely aware of some sort of commotion at the edge of the building. He glanced over at a few of the students as they vocalized concerns, not really paying much attention until he heard screaming. Cora? His eyes snapped to the girl as she was very visibly distraught. The Abraxan? What was going on? "Cora.. what's happened?" he asked, brow furrowed with concern as he started to make his way over to her.. but the voice at his side made him stop.

That was, until she saw Cora come yelling and crying from a stall in the barn. What is going on?! She rushed over to her friend and tried to put her hands on her shoulders. Something about...a what? Abraxan?"Cora, what's wrong? Are you okay?" She searched her face for answers, not liking to see her upset. Eliza felt herself getting choked up and angry. Has someone done something to Cora? Why is she crying?
"Professor, Cora needs you!" she called out in the direction of her teacher, not wanting to leave Cora in order to get her. "Cora, what happened?"
Cora shook a bit as she looked around. She trembled, both because of how nervous she was, and how embarrassed she was to cause such a scene. She glanced at Ethan and Eliza, with a panic-stricken expression, but could not say anything. She was too overwhelmed.

And she would have mentioned that she had already fed them if it hadn't been for Eliza and little Cora's crying, and she couldn't help but make a face. She liked kids, she really did. But having to deal with them crying.. that was just something that she couldn't do.
"Umm.." she glanced around nervously, hoping that a different adult would stop by and just swoop the girl away. But no such luck. And since there was talk about the winged horse making weird noises, she supposed she had to get closer anyway. Giving the Augurey a quick look, just to make sure he wasn't freaking out as much as she was, Vanora slowly made her way over to the Ravenclaw, first peeking inside the now empty stall. "It's okay, you don't have to cry." Really. She didn't. So, could she please stop? "I just left the stall unlocked, so he could leave when he woke up. Which he obviously did." She gave the stall door a tug, to show that it was indeed unlocked. "And horses do make noises, weird ones especially when they're rolling around." Which he obviously had done, going by the hay all scattered around. "He probably just went out into the pasture." So.. they.. could get back on with the lesson, yeah?
Yeah.

Cora's wide eyes looked up at her favorite professor. The tears kept coming, as she was reassured. So it had been left unlocked. That was all? Cora realized she must have overreacted. She felt silly, and her sobs stopped as she saw the calm, yet slightly frustrated expression on the all-knowing professor. She was right. This was all silly.
While the remainder of some tears continued down her face, she smiled slightly, and wiped her face. She looked towards Ethan and Eliza, and walked towards them.
SPOILER!!: Silly?

Before Cora knew what was happening, she started to feel different. Odd. Strange. Silly? Maybe? She went from still having tears in her eyes to giggling happily. Huh? It dawned on her that she was already hearing the singing, but as quickly as it had started, it stopped again. Feeling uncomfortable that she had caused trouble, Cora timidly approached Professor Newlin.
"Umm, Professor Newlin?" Cora's brow was furrowed apologetically. She hadn't meant to cause a scene, and tons of words jumbled together as she tried to say she was sorry. "I...sorry...interruption...badly...overreact--" Cora stopped and tried again, softly but more confidently she hoped. "Professor, I am so very sorry that I overreacted and interrupted class today. It's just that I've been so paranoid, ever since, well, you know. I guess, I just freaked." Cora took a deep breath, fiddling with her fingers nervously. "It's just that I love helping out in the barn SO MUCH, and I love all these animals. It makes me feel...helpful." Cora SO hoped that Professor Newlin would let her continue helping out. She looked at her, pleading a bit.
