Hecate was not well at all. Her skin had become somewhat transparent, with a hue of gray. She looked cold and ill. She stood at the back of the classroom, as she smelled like rotting flesh, and didn't want the children smelling her.
This was her last class, then she could leave and try her luck with the African healers. She opened the door with her wand, and held herself up against the back wall.
She would finish this class.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!
Laura looked at the Professor and smiled, she felt like saying rotten fish but well it wouldn't have been that and was the Professor rolling her eyes at her, that wasn't very nice. "Maybe there will be veela hair in the potion?"

Emmanuelle really had no idea what went into the potion. She couldn't even make an educated guess based on what she already knew. Not that she didn't know much, it was just that she prefered just being told the ingredients and instructions and making the potion. Which was probably why she'd never be a potioneer. Guesswork was a big part of discovering new potions and improving old ones and Em just didn't have the patience for it. So she just kept silent and listened as her classmates gave their guesses.

Ingredients. Erm...Kurumi really wasn't sure and usually her guesses were always wrong. THIS was why she had a tutor for the subject in Lewis because he knew this stuff like she knew about creatures. Creatures...wait...she had read about dragon parts being used in a Swelling Solution once...now what exactly had it been. Oh yes!
"Perhaps dragon saliva?" she asked after raising her hand.

"Good. Those are all good suggestions." She said with a weak nod.
"No." She said rolling her eyes.
"Can anyone think what kind of ingredients would go in this potion?" She asked sitting at her desk.
Sarah thought about it for a moment.. this potion sounded similar to the Swelling solution so she looked up the recipe for that one -Puffer-fish eyes. That made sense - Puffer fish do blow up. "Puffer-fish eyes?" Sarah suggested
A potion that made things grow in size? Interesting.
With her usual pout, Renesmee listened carefully as the Professor asked questions and the rest of the class answered. She really wanted to say something and put her input, but she truly could not think of anything to say. She like a lot of the time was too distracted into other thoughts.
Ingredients? Ahh! Maybe she could try her luck with a guess? No? Worth a try? Yeah?
Raising her hand, Nessie waited her turn. "Professor, possibly dragon dung?" Okay that was RAAAANDDOOOM! But who knew? Maybe some of it was right?
"Can anyone think what kind of ingredients would go in this potion?" She asked sitting at her desk.
Belle wondered what could go in the potion. Belle really had no clue. She was hearing her other classmates answers. They all seemed pretty legit. Belle was copying those ideas in her notebook seeing if they were right. But then Belle had an idea. "Professor would Fluxweed be used in this potion?" Belle asked tentatively. They used that ingredient before and why not suggest it.

Sierra sighed. She just wasn't into class today. She'd missed the discussion for the first question due to being so distracted about things going on in her personal life. On her parchment, she wrote:
Who doesn't want things to be bigger and better? People say that less is more, but I often times disagree. Maybe your pants have grown too short for your height, and you'd like them to be longer. Or what if it suddenly gets colder, and you're in short sleeves? I think this potion could help with situations like that one.

"What about Re'em blood?" she suggested. "It's useful in giving the drinker an immense strength temporarily, so...maybe those properties," ...the ones that give the strength, she meant... Minerva listened as others talked about what went in the potion. She tried to think of what could be in this type of potion. Listening to the others, Minerva just wasn't sure so instead she started writing down others responses as just in case materials. As she wrote she stopped and looked up and over towards Nessie.. Did she really just say dung.. Oh joy, using dung sounded as wonderful as blood, but sadly Minerva knew she could handle the dung better then she could handle the blood. Maybe they could use Gnome dung.. She had gotten enough thrown at her during herbology that the entire class could have used it.

Ella listened carefully to Professor Lafay, occasionally adding things to her notes if a classmate said something of interest. At the Professor's second question, Ella went over all the ingredients she knew. One such ingredient was the Scarab Beetle. "Professor, Scarab Beetles are used for Skele-gro so perhaps they could also be used in potions that are used to grow other things too." Shrug. It was really the only thing she could think of at the moment but she thought it best to at least offer up a possible ingredient.
Hmmm, ingredients that could make things grow... She listened to the other guesses. Puffer fish makes sense, since the toxins could make things swell up. What other things expand? She thought about those strange foam toys that grew when you put them into water and wondered what they were made of. Not likely that anything in them would be used in the magical world though. The image of the cakes in Alice in Wonderland crossed her mind, but those were edible so they couldn't have anything to do with this - plus they were just in a story anyway. Bee stingers could make things swell up...but I don't see how they'd apply to non-organic objects. She wasn't really sure and couldn't think of anything, so she just took notes instead.
Jake had been silent for the class so far, focusing very hard in an attempt to not zone out. He thought that maybe, though, it might be a good idea to actually participate in the class discussion. That's what you went to class for anyway, right?
So, raising his hand, he answered, "Caterpillars? I know they're used in a Shrinking Solution... except, I'm not really sure why. Maybe they help with the, I dunno, elasticity of what's shrinking.... so they could help with growth, too?"

Anya fought the urge to just look for the entire ingredient list in her textbook. This was the hardest part of the lesson. She was just so bad at guessing.
She raised her hand. "Bat spleen?" she offered. What? This was a potion that wasn't supposed to be ingested. And obviously nobody wanted to drink bat spleen.
"I think it's been used in some types of swelling solution...?" Or that could have been a lie. The only thing she was sure was used was pufferfish eyes. And everyone had already suggested that.
Maybe she should have suggest the entire pufferfish?

Lily didn't always care for potions lessons, but had managed to convince herself to come to this one. So, sitting off to the side of the room, she quietly took notes. Notes about some sort of growth potion. After jotting down several possible items that could be ingredients in this potion, the third year thought of something. Putting her hand up, she voiced her idea. "Water.... possibly because it is used in many potions as the base ingredient." So if it was in other potions, it might as well be in this potion as well. The third year couldn't remember having a potion without it.

Befelda was up to her favorite class. She went inside the room quietly, wandered and searched the room for Professor Hadley. Suddenly, she saw the woman, feeling ill. Poor woman, she thought. If only she could be of great help for the Professor.
She walked straight to Professor Hadley and greeted her with sympathy. "I know it's not a good day to you, Professor. I hope you will be fine after class.", she said to Professor Hadley.
She turned her back on her, then looked for a seat and waited for the class to start.

The class has started. Professor Hadley then started the class by telling to brew a Growth Unction. Hmm...growth unction will make things larger? That's pretty cool and useful., she thought to herself. It doesn't matter if it's not used for food as long as it can enlarge things.
She then answered Professor's question about the use of the unction. "Professor, unction is important. You don't want to be hanging around with a large tent or something. Besides, you can seal the small thing in a hand bag or something, well, unless you have a shrinking potion of course.", Befelda explained. She wasn't sure if she hit the right answer.

Befelda has thought of few ingredients which she thought can be used for the growth unction. "Uhmm...Professor, I'm not sure if these ingredients would fit the unction but I know Crocodile heart and Eye of newt can be used for some growth potions.", she exclaimed. She was 60/40 sure about it as she read about some growth potions before. I hope it's right.

Bliss sighed. When it came to potions, she could brew them alright, but could never guess what ingredients were used. She was hopeless in that department. Instead of raising her hand and coming out with a guess that would probably be completely wrong, she sat, her hands firming by her side and waited until the Professor spoke again.

Going over the ingredients Minerva felt a little better that these were not going to be as bad as the last potion. Then the last ingredient made her frown. Oddly enough, Kurumi had been hoping to work with dragon drool since she had never done so before. Sierra took a few minutes to quickly copy down the ingredients. She grinned when she noted that both her suggestions had been on there. Of course they had. She was awesome at this. She finalized the list then got up and headed to the storage closet. It only took her a minute or two to get everything she needed. By now, she was a pro at finding things in this closet. After all, it was nearly the end of her seventh year.
Ingredients in hand, Sierra headed back to her work table and sorted everything out. Pretty soon, it'd all be a brew. She wondered what they'd be growing today, too.
Eliza still wasn't too keen on how many animal parts potions always seemed to require, but she kept telling herself that they died of natural causes and now they were just making their bodies useful. She sort of doubted that though.

1 Leg of Newt

3 drops of Re'em Blood
She collected the ingredients from the cupboards, making a couple trips. She nearly gagged when she had to scoop the Bubotuber puss from the jar, and held her nose with one hand as she sat it down at her desk. Ugh, just...so many nasty, nasty things. At least she had used blood in the last lesson, so she was slightly less disturbed this time around - but only slightly. She eyed the tiny leg of the newt and felt sad. I guess I can't be too upset. It's not like I'm a vegetarian or anything, so why should I feel more sad about making potions than about making dinner? She knew it was a fine line, but she still wasn't too happy about it.

Awesome so he did guess right. And at the Potions Mistress prompting he proceeded to collect the ingredients listed, making a few trips back and forth between the supply cabinet and his work area. From time to time he steals a glance at the Lafay, and each time he feels progressively worse for her. Sure he was terrified of her when he met her (and still is) but now he can tell that she really needed help on something she isnt talking about but was as obvious as the sunken eyes on her face. Is there anything he could do to help her?
When he has everything on his table he proceeded to scourgify his Potions materials then checked the cauldron to make sure it didnt have any damages before they start with the unction.

Okay so even if Ella's guess had been wrong, at least Professor Lafay had said it was a good guess. That put her mind at ease a bit. The yeast bit was particularly interesting information to the girl and she smiled a little, not having expected that particular ingredient to be involved. Made sense though, knowing the use of yeast in cooking.
The third year copied down the list of ingredients clearly on to her parchment, picking it up when she was done and standing. It looked like she'd need to make a few trips in order to get everything she needed.
After three trips to collect all of the things she'd need, Ella organized them on her work space and made sure she had clean materials to work with. She knew how Professor Lafay felt about cleanliness. When she was finished, she sat up straight and waited for further instructions.
