Clapping her hands together to get all the remaining bits of crushed matter off, Kurumi summoned her mortar and pestle with her wand and made sure to clean it with the proper charms before adding the poppy seeds in. With another flick of her wand, Kurumi charmed the pestle to crush and grind the seeds while she returned to her notes to write down the next steps.

Once she had finished with her notes, Kurumi turned her attention to the mortar and checked on the poppy seeds. Satisfied with the contents, Kurumi grabbed the Valerian sprigs and crushed them with her hands and added them to the mortar before crushing them further with the pestle and then adding all of it to her cauldron.

Leeches were next...ew.

Cassia turned to her potions kit and retrieved the pestle and the mortar. Were they clean? Well, she only uses them at class. So it depends on whether she cleaned them after using them last the previous lesson. And because she didn't have an awesome memory especially when it came to unimportant things like cleaning equipment. She decided to clean them anyway. Fishing her wand out from her bag and with a flick she uttered, "Scourgify," She didn't really notice the difference which meant that they probably were already clean. Or she just didn't notice. Anyway..

She added two tablespoons of this poppy seed and started grinding copying the Professor's exact moves. Being a copy cat was something she excelled at. Which comes always in handy. After a good time of grinding had passed. The second-year thought that it was enough. Dust it did turn into it. So she reached then for the sprigs of Valerian and started breaking them up. Then she added them to the mortar and began crushing them with the dust.

Crush..crush..crush..

So much crushing and grinding and this lesson. And Cassia was actually curious about this potion. Will they use it on each other? Or will the staff take it and use it on students. Not a good thing.

The second year peered down at the mortar and put the pestle aside. She retrieved a spoon and added the mixture of dust and Valerian to the potion. Hmm...if only they knew who would get to use those potions. IF Professors were to then Cassia might think about not doing everything the way it should be done. But not yet. She needs to make sure . Maybe Lafay would speak up? Meh..

Dylan listened to the class to hear that they were making a truth serum, that made him really excited! Cause now he would be ablt to make a truth serum and use it on anyone he wanted! Now THIS is what he was looking forward to! Classes like this, ok so Minnie was right! He would be sure to tell her when he saw her next, Professor Lafay was becoming a cool professor in his eyes now. He wrote down the ingredients on his parchment, cause there was no way that he was not taking any notes for this class. He was going to take as many as he could so that he could re-create the potion whenever he wanted again.



After he had written them down he heard her tell them to go collect their ingredients so thats what he did. He went to go collect his ingredients, once he had collected them he brought them back to his desk and waited for the next set of instructions.



Dylan frowned a little at what the professor said to Kurumi, she cant just fail her for the class, she was officially losing her cool professor title that he had given her. Cause that was not fair to do that, but he didnt say anything he would come up with something soon for Lafay. He then watched as she started making the potion by filling her cauldron, so he did the same. He was about to add the water when he remembered that Kurumi had told him to clean everything that he used pointing his wand at his cauldron "Scour.. Scourgify" he had now cleaned his cauldron, next he pointed his wand at his cauldron "Aguamenti" he was used to using that spell now so that was easy.. well kind of.

He then looked up at the professor as she added the first ingredients on the list that she had provided them, and listened as she instructed them to add the ingredients. So he picked up his wormwood essence and added his 8 drops of it

"1....2....3....4" he counted as he dropped them into his cauldron "Right that was four now for the next four" he told himself as he got ready to add his next four drops "1....2....3....4" there that was his next four "Four plus four is eight. so thats done now" he said as he waited for the next set of instructions.



He watched as she told them to stir their potion in a counter-clock motion, he watched as she stirred hers and then picked up her cup of Jobberknoll blood and she added that in WHILE she was still stirring. That was going to be a bit of struggle, she also told them that it should be a slow stream. He would also see the red color of the blood making circles, ok so red circles.

He put his spoon into his cauldron and started stirring with his spoon as he grabbed his cup of Jobberknoll Blood and put it into his cauldron and continued stirring in a counter-clockwise direction. He saw the red circles that she was talking about so that meant that he was on the right track and doing things as they were supposed to do them.



He watched as she grabbed the four wings and the three leaves, he watched as she crushed them in her hands loosely. He listened as well as she instructed them and showed them how to loosely crushing the leaves and wings in her hands and let them fall into the cauldron.

He then grabbed his four Billywig Wings, he then grabbed his three Belladonna leaves and putting his hands together he loosely crushed them as he was instructed and demonstrated. He let the pieces fall into his cauldron as she had done, he then waited for the next intructions.



He listened as she told them to grab their mortar and pestle, so thats what he did. It was good that she mentioned the cleaning part cause he might not have done it if she hadn't mentioned it, "Scourgify" he pointed at his mortar and pestle. He watched as she demonstrated putting two tablespoons of poppy seeds into her mortar and pestle, as she grind them down into dust. He continued to watch as she got her seven sprigs of Valerian and breaking up with her hand she added them into her mortar and pestle before crushing both together and adding them both into her cauldron

It was then his turn, he added the two tablespoons of poppy seeds. Once he had done that he grinded them down until it was like dust, grabbing his seven Valerian springs he broke them up too and added them to his mortar. Grabbing his pestle he crushed the sprigs with his poppy dust and once he was satisfied that it was done he added everything to his cauldron and waited for the next set of instructions.



He looked at his list and saw that all that they had left to add was the five leeches.

Minerva listened to the next set of directions. Was it just the way she was feeling or did this potion seem to be taking longer then usual. She always loved potions, maybe she was getting sick or something. The thought of the blood coming back to her mind she felt her stomach turn again. Time to put that out of memory and never think of it again. She knew right then she would never try to make this potion on her own. Not if she had to use the blood again.

Pulling out her mortar and pestle, Minerva pointed her wand and cleaned them both. After she knew they were clean she placed the two tablespoons of poppy seeds into it and crushed them down to a dust. CRUSH....CRUSH...CRUSH... Once the dust looked right to her, Minerva then took the seven springs of Valerian and broke it up in her hand. Crush..Crush..Crush.. She then added the Valerian to the poppy seed dust and made sure they were mixed well together before adding both ingredients to her potion. Looking up she glanced around to see if what the next step was.

After Belle was done adding her previous ingredients. She went to retrieve mortar and pestle from her potions kit. Belle noticed it was dusty and decided to clean both. Belle said with her wand, "Scourgify!" and they were clean!

Then she got out her measuring spoons. She picked out the tablespoon. Then she got out her poppy seeds and started to closely measure the poppy seeds. After she measured them twice, she put them into the mortar. Then she took her pestle and started to grind them into dust. She took her frustrations out onto the poppy seeds. It felt good actually.

Then Belle took her seven sprigs of valerian sprigs and put them in with the poppy seeds. Then she crushed them together with the dust already in tact. After she was all finished crushing her ingredients. She admits her hands kind of hurt, she placed the dust and crushed sprigs into the potion.

Phew! Worst part was over now.

Taking a deep breathe, Renesmee focused onto the next set of instructions. The Billywig wings didn't exactly make her feel to excited, but anything was better than that revolting blood. Anything.

Four. Uh-huh that was the right amount. Four wings and three leaves. Easy measurement there. The red head grabbed some in her hand and began crushing them as well a she could.

Crush. Crush. Crush. Or more like Ew. Gross. Ew.

Yes the billywig wings may have not been that hard, but she could still feel them crushing in her fingers, and it wasn't a pleasant feeling. Finally when she felt she had crushed enough she let the pieces fall into the potion and moved on to the poppy seeds and valerian sprigs.

What she needed first though was her motrar and pestle. She searched her kit and after a few short moments got the two instruments she needed. Next she grabbed the Valerian sprigs and paused before she got some poppy seeds too. She almost had forgotten to clean her mortar and pestle. "Scourgify." she said quietly and then only afterwards retrieved her two tablespoons of poppy seeds. She added them too her mortar and started crushing away again. At least this wasn't done by hand, nor did it look as unpleasant as the wings.

When the poppy seeds looked almost like dust, Ness took her seven springs and added them as she continued away with her crushing. It was actually quite a work out for her arm, but still she continued till she was pleased with her result. When she was she added the contents and scribbled notes once more.

James cleaned his couldron, filled it with water and lit a fire underneath and let it boil. Then he added the 8 drops of wormwood like the potionsmistress had instructed and started stirring it in an counter clockwise direction. He then measured and added the cup of jobberknoll blood, feeling rather squeamish. He then put the billywig wings and belladonna leaves in his hand and rubbed briskly letting the bits fall from his hands and into the cauldron. He then cast scougify on the mortor and the pestle for added measure. Then he put the poppy seeds into the mortor and crushed it to dust with the pestle... to rythym. Once he had done that he broke seven Valerian sprigs with his hand and added it to the poppy seed dust. Then he emptied the contents of the mortor into his cauldron.
He had not bothered to take notes... he could get them from Sarah, who seemed to be taking lots of notes.

Carefully selecting the best looking Billywing Wings and Belladonna leaves out of the ones that she brought back, she scrunched them in her hand. They were very brittle. And loosley, very witch like; she sprinkeles them into her cauldron.

This time, Olivia washed out her mortar and pestal with "Aquamenti!". Not being framilliar with any drying spells, she used her scarf to dry the motrter and pestal. Hope nobody saw that. Scan, scan, shifty. She leveled off two tablespoons of poppy seeds and dumped them in. Once they were grinded, she broke up the valerian. She was unsure how broken up they were supposed to be. Were they meant to be really tiny? She broke them up at kind of a mid-ways length.

After she sarted crushing them up with her poppy dust, she realized that the length diddn't matter that much! They would get crushed up into tiny pieces by the morter and pestal anyways.

Crush them loosely in your hands? Ethan would much rather crush them with his mortar and pestle - and didn't know why they wouldn't - but decided to follow instruction. He picked up four billywig wings and crumbled them in his hand, then brushed them into the cauldron with his other hand. Picking up the belladonna leaves, he repeated the motions.

He glanced over at Minnie and mirrored her weak smile at her words. She didn't sound all that convincing and still looked quite pale.. though the color was coming back to her cheeks. He nodded and turned back to his potion. It was probably just the blood and now that they were moving on, perhaps she would feel better.

Ethan looked up as Lafay related their next set of instructions and he pulled out his mortar and pestle, scourgifying both. He dropped in the poppy seeds and began grinding them, lids getting very heavy as he did his best to focus on his work... The boy opened his eyes wide to stop from nodding off and broke the valerian sprigs into the mortar. He began crushing and grinding again, movements slowing as he was growing so sleepy..

Hannah paid attention to the demonstration. She retrieved her mortar and pestle and cleaned them both quickly. She measured out two tablespoons of poppy seeds and placed them into her mortar. She grinded the poppy seeds until they were dust. Merlin her arms were sore. She had the same problem in her other classes too. Maybe she needed to work out? Pfft!

She took seven springs of Valerian and broke them up with her hand and added them to the mortar as well. She crushed them along with the poppy seed dust. Crush, crush, crush. Once everything looked like it was supposed to she added it all to her potion and waited to see what the next step would be.

"Scourgify" Sarah casted on the mortor as it cleaned it out. Sarah was shocked to actually see a noticable difference. She then sprinkled the poppy seeds into the mortor and took the pestle and pretended the poppy seeds were an army of red ants and she beat them hard. She first beat them in spirel, then in a heart shape. Then she wrote her name in the path of her pestle. After the S in Edwards she had finally made it fine like dust.
She then took the varelain srpigs three at a time and broke them over the motor, allowing it to fall inside. She then picked up the seventh one and broke that too. Adding the poppy seeds and varlerian sprig bits to her cauldron, she awaited further instructions

Ella leaned forward and got her mortar and pestle, placing them on the table in front of her. She pointed her wand at them and cleaned each, picking them up to inspect her work when she had finished. Satisfied, the third year measured out two tablespoons of poppy seeds and added them to the mortar. The small badger then picked up the pestle and began grinding them down. Crush. Crush. Crushhhhhh. Sheesh. Grinding the seeds was tiring work, though maybe people whose arms weren't like noodles had an easier time.

Right, noting that the seeds had finally been reduced to dust, the third year started breaking up the seven sprigs of Valerian. When she was sure the pieces would fit, she added them to the mortar and began crushing them down. Crush. Crush. Crushhhhhhhh.

Having finished, the picked up her mortar and then dumped the mixture into her potion.

It was tempting to rub the end of her pestle on her robes and call it clean, but Vivi had a feeling that every potioneer in her life would be horrified at the idea. She Scourgified both the mortar and pestle before adding the poppy seeds.

Just a few feet away, Vivi spotted Vickers putting on a mask and goggles. Clever of him. He might end up being the only one in the classroom not to go completely batty in a few minutes. She held her breath as she ground up the poppy seeds, as if that would really help, and by the time she was adding the sprigs of Valerian, Vivi just had to breathe again.

Whew. That was an interesting scent. Vivi poured the contents of her mortar into the cauldron, happy to get the stuff out of her hands and away from her face.

Riiiiiiiiiiiight.

They were moving on. Lex reached into her potions kit and pulled out both the mortar and the pestle. She picked up a teaspoon of poppy seeds but remember something at the last minute. "Oh yeah...you guys have to be cleaned..." Mmm. Replacing it next to the other ingredients she aimed at the mortar and pestle. "Scourgify." Eeeeeeeeeeeeppppp!!! It worked on the first go!! It was official. She was soooo getting better at the spell casting stuff. Well...for the simply spells anyway. Uh...but back to the potion.

She began crushing the poppy seeds until they were as fine as dust. Once that was done she reached over and got the sprigs of valerian. Just then her hand brushed against something. "Oh, Mr. Leech. Just sit tight, we'll get you something to eat when class is done." What did leeches eat anyway? Hopefully it liked chocolate.

Turning to her crushing again she crushed the valerian into the poppy seed dust until they started looking like one big heap of dust. Good. Perfect. Next she threw it all in the potion.

Lex stepped back and eyed the cauldron. The way she saw it, there would be a lot of lingualaxus left over when she was done. Now what would she do with it first...?

Nigel retrieved his mortar and pestle and made sure it was clean. Next he put the two tablespoons of poppy seeds into it. Once he was sure he put in the right seeds. Nigel started grinding them down to a dust. Once that was done Nigel broke up the seven sprigs of Valerian and put them in the morter. Finally Nigel crushed it together with the poppy dust and then added the all the contents to his potion.

Well, things were coming along nicely, and no one had melted a cauldron or drove the professor into a fit of anger. Strange. Sierra quietly reached for her mortar and pestle then looked it over to make sure it was clean. She thought so, but because she kept second guessing herself, she decided to clean it.

After doing so, she put the two tablespoons of poppy seeds into then began grinding them. When the seeds were nothing but dust, which seemed to take quite a while, she broke up the Valerian. She tossed the Valerian into the mortar, as well, and then she crushed it together with the poppy seeds.

All done now. Well, almost. She tilted the mixture above the cauldron and dumped its contents inside.

"We are at the last step. If you do not know how to handle a leech, which, then put on our gloves. I don't want it to attach to you and contaminate itself. Place the leech inside the potion and it'll start sucking some of the liquid. Once it's full, you'll notice it'll start disintegrating into the potion. It will turn red, a dark deep red." After demonstrating, she took her wand out. "Cast on the potion in a straight jabbing motion and say 'Verax' loud and clear." She said and again, demonstrated. The potion became clear. "And it is done."

The adage 'No animals were harmed in the making of this....' certainly doesnt apply today does it?

Limply he takes the container of leeches in his gloved hand. Leeches may be generally disgusting, but they have proven to be useful medical aid. And it is a creature, it has as much a right to exist as anybody on the planet.

Its takes him a full minute just hovering that container over the pot, so much so that the steam rising from it has prompted the leeches to start moving out and over his gloved hand. First the Jobberknolls, now the Leeches? "A worthy cause guys, I promise...." he murmured regrettably as he plucked the leeches from his gloves and lay them down into the mixture. He wasnt watching them gorge themselves into self destruction. He just waited and peeked into his cauldron until he can fathom the bubbly edge of the mixture has indeed changed into heartbreaking crimson.

He took his wand and with a swift stabbing motion he cast "Verax!" Now he nears his cauldron...

...... it looked like he's just been boiling water.

Jory hated leeches so he didn't hesitate to pull on his gloves. Gingerly, he scooped them up and placed them into his potion. He watched, fascinated, as the creatures began to absorb some of it. And then it began to swell...and swell until they eventually broke down.

Now, the boy's potion was the dark red as Professor Lafay's. "Verax, Verax,'' he muttered as he took out his wand. He pointed it at the cauldron, "Verax!'' he said and made the jabbing movement. And then suddenly its colour changed and it became clear.

"All done,'' he thought as he wrote down this last bit of instruction in his book.

Awar put on her gloved, feeling hesitant about picking up the leech, but she did anyways. She plopped them into the cauldron and waited for it to satisfy itself and then as it disintegrated, she pulled out her wand. "Verax!" She said as she moved her hand in a stabbing motion. The potion turned clear and I guess that was that. She sighed feeling victorious.

As the fateful words sounded, that they had reached the final steps of the potion, Kendall found herself taking a deep breath. Luckily managing to avoid inhaling stray poppyseed and valerian dust that might be floating around, because that could be bad. She didn't want to fall asleep in class, or Professor Lafay might use her as a test subject. And, while she felt happy when she found out that the leeches actually were going to be sucking up the potion, and therefore the blood, it wasn't a very long-lived pride. Since instead of drinking blood, they were going to either end up drinking icky dissolved leeches who had drank the blood, or making somebody else drink it. That didn't seem like much of a better alternative, honestly, so she still hoped that somehow they weren't going to be expected to test it. A slim hope, but it was still there.

She'd reached for her container of leeches, though. She wasn't going to back down and show her fear, not when she knew Professor Lafay was likely to pounce on that if she had. Therefore, she didn't even bother putting her gloves on. She'd just not let the leeches latch on, and she picked each of the five needed up carefully and placed them into the potion without too much incident. There had been one moment when she thought a leech was going to twist around and attach to her finger, but she dropped it into the potion before it could. And she ignored them as they started sucking up the liquid and growing larger. Ignoring meant she might be able to pretend they weren't real, as long as eventually they poofed and turned the potion red. Although, she'd forgotten the other connection that could be made to the color, and, as she finally glanced down to check the potion, she remembered that sharply. The potion was basically blood-red. More of a dried-blood red, but it still looked like kind of thin blood. Still not anything she wanted to drink, but she'd reminded herself of the spell they'd been told about after a moment.

Taking her wand out again, she jabbed it at the cauldron's contents practically without looking. "Verax," she said, clearly and focusing on just making the spell work. She'd much rather not have to look at the potion again until it had, after all, and, after a moment, she peeked down at the cauldron. It wasn't quite as red as before, but not clear yet, so she jabbed her wand again. "Verax." She was going to be angry if her accent made her unable to finsih this potion, and that irritation seemed to help. The potion finally turned crystal clear, and she blinked. Why are we only learning about clear potions this term?, she wondered. It seemed awfully sneaky, but she kept the question to herself as she turned to finish off her notes. She'd figure out why eventually.

Lingualaxus Truth serum

Ingredients:
Water
8 drops essence of wormwood
1 cup jobberknoll blood
4 billywig wings
3 belladonna leaves
2 tablespoons of poppy seeds
7 sprigs of valerian
5 leeches

Steps:
1. Make sure cauldron is clean
2. Fill cauldron with water, up to the neck, then light a flame underneath
3. Add the eight drops of essence of wormwood, one at a time
4. Stir potion counter-clockwise
5. While potion is still moving/while still stirring, slowly add jobberknoll blood (blood will make circles in the liquid)
6. Collect the billywig wings and belladonna leaves in hands, then crush them loosely before adding to the cauldron
7. Place the two tablespoons of poppy seeds into mortar, then use pestle to crush them into dust
8. Use hands to break apart valerian sprigs, then add to mortar as well and crush, before adding the mixture into the cauldron
9. Place the leeches into the potion, where they will eat the liquid until they’re full and then dissolve into the potion (turning it dark red)
10. Using a straight jabbing motion, cast Verax on the liquid. Potion should turn clear.

Aaahh! Finally, we're about to finish another potion. Befelda was relieved and a bit tired of writing down notes, which she was about to do now:



She took the gloves and wore it. She doesn't want to be contaminated and be sucked by the leeches. She grabbed the leeches and put them in the potion. Befelda noticed the liquid in the potion was slowly minimizing. It was already being sucked by the leeches. And little by little, the potion was turning to red, until it was in deep red.

Hmm...I think it's time to cast the potion.She then took her wand, cast the potion in a straight jabbing motion and said, "Verax" loud and clear. Suddenly, the potion's becoming clear. Sigh. I hope this is done.

We are at the last step, Momma Snake said. Awwwwwwwwwww yeaaaaaaaah. Really, the cauldron was letting out so much heat Kat would've started sweating. She was so thankful the potions was nearly finished.

Kat took her gloves out of her kit and wore it. She didn't want to touch those leeches bare handed. Ew. That's just gross, really. She took her leech and placed in inside her cauldron. Eeekkk. It looked slimy and gooey and the skin was so slippery.... like... EW! Then the ugly leech started sucking some of her potion. Ek, Kat doesn't wanna drink it anymore. Later on, the leech started disintegrating and the potion turned dark red. Cool. Grabbing her wand, Kat did that awesome jab. "Verax!"

*POOOOOOOOOOF*

The potion became clear. THEY WERE FINISHED, THANK YOU.

The only good thing about dealing with leeches was that it took her mind of the poor jobberknolls for the time being. Slipping her gloves on, Kurumi bit down hard on her lower lip and picked up one of the leeches by its tail end and sort of slid it off the tray and allowed it to dangle in the air for a moment. The Gryffindor let out a small squeak at the way the thing was squirming and trying to latch its mouth onto her gloved finger. Dropping it rather suddenly into the cauldron with a small splash, she wrinkled her nose as the leech grew in size as it drank up the potion and...okay, that was gross.

Covering her mouth with the other hand, Kurumi quickly dropped in the other four leeches and waited for them to dissolve into the boiling liquid. She didn't realize that she had been holding her breath until the potion turned a deep red and then she readied her wand for the last step. Practicing the wand move and incantation a few time separately, the seventh year took a deep breath and jabbed her wand towards the cauldron, "Verax." She ended up holding her breath again until the potion turned clear and then slouched in her seat.

Dylan listened as the professor explained to them what they had to do for the final last part of this task, his eyes went wide as she said she didn't want the leech attaching itself to him... and wait what?! contaiminate ITSELF?! what about him? was she only caring about the leeches? He watched as she placed the leech inside her potion, and he waited to see what happens, he saw the leech suck up the potion and then she said that it would disintegrate into the potion. He watched as she cast the spell Verax after it had turned a deep dark red, and it was done according to her so now he decided to have a go himself now

He put on his gloves cause there was no way that he wanted that leech to be attached to him, after he made sure that his gloves were on nice and tight and secure he picked up his leech and put it into the potion. He then watched it carefully as it started to take in the potion and he watched as it grew before suddenly before his own eyes it disinegrated and the potion changed color to a deep dark red, so that meant that he was doing it right.. correct? its seemed so! He then took out his wand and pointed it at the potion.. she said Verax right? yeah thats what she said, loud and clear too. He pointed his wand at the potion "Verax!" he said loud and clear and saw that his potion had now turned to a clear potion. So that meant that he was done now right? it looked like it!
