As you will have noticed the lesson today is not being held inside the classroom. Instead you have to make your way down to the lake, where a smiling Professor Magnus is ready and waiting to greet you. Behind her is a large cloth covering a large you-don't-know-what...but it's round and almost floor level. Scattered about are cushions for you to sit on, and out in the lake you notice two poles with ribbons attached - but that is for later.
Right now, you should take a seat and make sure you have your nautical themed hat with you. DO YOU?

Kurumi felt like she had been saying the ruddy spell for hours when the reality was that it had only been somewhere between five and ten minutes. Still, Kurumi's mouth just did not seem to want to cooperate with her brain. UG.
Slouching a bit more, Kurumi tried one last time before. "Vergrand-IS Nav-IS." Oh. HEY! Wait a second! THERE it was! Kurumi sat up straight and repeated the spell again softly, almost in disbelief really. Once she had sort of proven to herself that she was in fact saying the incantation properly, Kurumi relaxed her now tense jaw and removed her wand as she trace a circle in the air. Enough spells she knew required a similar movement that this didn't require too much practice.
Alright, now she had to put the two together and NOT melt her toothpick.
Rolling up the sleeves of her robes, Kurumi relaxed her shoulders a little and pointed her wand at the toothpick as it lay on the ground. Right, she was making a coracle...a coracle... so it would be good to have a clear image in her mind of this. A VERY clear one. Which is why before she attempted the spell Kurumi got up again and moved towards the two Professor Magnus had transfigured and crouched down to examine them, touch them, pick them up slightly, just to be sure she was taking all the elements into account.
Feeling a little more confident, Kurumi returned to her toothpick and pointed her wand at it once more as she closed her eyes, drawing a circle in the air over it. "Vergrand-IS Nav-IS."
...
Had it worked?

Alyssa looked around to see whether anyone had been successful in transforming the stick into a Coracle yet, but from what she could see everyone had failed like she had. Breathing a sigh of relief that she wasn't the only one who had failed, Alyssa decided to try the transfiguration spell again.
First she walked over and looked at the Coracle that the Professor had revealed to them. She bent down and studied the boat. She studied its design, the way the wood curved around and formed the circular boat. Once she had carefully studied each bend and structure of the boat, she returned back to where she had attemtped the spell the first time and where her little stick lay on the ground.
Now that she had a clear picture of what the Coracle looked like, Alyssa then concentrated on the incantation of the spell and what it was supposed to do. When she felt that she was ready, she took out her wand and pointing it downwards, she waved her wand over the stick forming a circle and said, "VerGRAND-is Nav-is".....and waited for something to happen but nothing did.
Alyssa couldn't understand what had gone wrong. The last time she had tried the spell, it had almost worked. Alyssa concentrated on the spell again, pointed her wand downwards and drew a full circle over the stick and said, "VerGRAND-is Nav-is"....and again nothing happened. Alyssa quickly knelt down, and reviewed her journal to see what she was doing wrong. As she read, she realized her mistake. She wanted to smack her head...which again was beginning to throb with pain...for forgetting the proper incantation of the spell.
She had placed the emphasis on the wrong syllable. Instead of saying "Vergrand-IS Nav-IS" she had said, "VerGRAND-is NAV-is". That was why the spell hadn't worked for her. Now that Alyssa had realized her mistake, she stood up and starting concentrating on the spell again. With the image of the Coracle in her mind, she pointed her wand downward, and forming a full circle over the little matchstick, said the words to the incantation, "Vergrand-IS Nav-IS"....and waited to see whether her spell worked this time.
A huge grin appeared on Sophie's face when she finally looked away from the cool looking coracle and watched as professor Magnus demonstrated how to proceed. Vergradis what? Uh oh... not another flipsnitstwtwt!
Sophie sighed in relief after the older witch used the incantation and transfigured the little stick into an awesome coracle. Vegrandis Navis. Not that complicated, after all. The whole thing looked quite difficult though... if they were actually going to use those things and sail around the lake... they'd better be safe! She would have to put extra concentration on that spell!
The Hufflepuff hurried to where the sticks were and got some to work with and returned to her spot. She couldn't WAIT to be able to transfigure those tiny thingies into really cool looking coracles like professor Magnus had done! That was wicked! But it was time to practice the incantation first, as usual.
"VegrandIS NavIS." ... nah. "VergrandIS NavIS." Oh, there! That was faster than she thought! Cooooooooool! Maybe that was a sign that Sophie little boat thing would be pretty nice! Or not.
"Vergrandis Navis." She decided to practice a bit more, just to make sure. The wand movement was quite simple. She did the circular motion a few times before suddenly stopping, looking up and blinking a couple of times.
Wait... was it VeRgrandis Navis or Vegrandis Navis? She looked around confused as her classmates also practiced the incantation.

Cassia watched how the professor turned the stick into coracle. Fascinating the first year thought. Scribbling down the spell and the required She then went and took a toothpick as Professor gave the signal.
Making it back to her seat, the Slytherin put down the stick and held the parchment to practice the pronunciation of the incantation first. "Vegrandis…VegrandIISS.." Nah too overrated, "VegrandIS," She tried again. Well, that's better, "NavIS…". Now together, "VegrandIS ..NavIS.." She said.
Well, she'll never unless she try casting it for real. She cleared her throat and aimed her wand at the toothpick, "VegrandIIs..NavIS.." Nothing! Not that Cassia was expecting to succeed from the first time like the Professor. She glanced at the parchment and remembered that she forgot the movement of the wand.
She practiced the movement first without speaking the incantation. A full circle, that's not hard . But doesn't have to be a small or a big circle?! Cassia was staring at the toothpick and didn't recall the size of the circle drawn by her Professor. No problem she'll try an average size.
Straightening and clearing her throat again for no reason really…just dramatic effect. She aimed her wand downward and spoke,"VergandIS……NavIS" And nothing. Cassia considered the situation. Probably she didn't say it fast enough.
Again, pointing her wand downward ,drawing a circle and saying ,"Vergandis.NavIS" And wow!
Blink...
Cassia was glued to her ground, she did it!! The stick just like the professor's curled and formed a small cute coracle.

"Skulling! Well done both of you, yes. A figure of eight movement is required otherwise you tend to go in circles." She'd tried during the summer period, when she was planning lessons for the term. It was fun actually, but anyway back to the lesson.
Picking out a couple of toothpick type match stick things, whatever one wanted to call them, Isabelle held them aloft for all to see. "Now, this is what you will be using to create your coracle AND the paddle. Two new spells for you all. I'll demonstrate now, then you can come and collect some of these for practice." Giving herself some room, she placed one down on the floor and looked up to make sure they were all paying attention. "This is the spell for the coracle...." Flicking her wand out, Issy pointed it downwards and did a full circle above the small stick. "Vegrandis Navis!"
Almost immediately the stick began to curl around and join it's ends together, before expanding outwards and filling in the gaps underneath. After a few seconds the bottom of the coracle sealed itself and a fully formed one sat on the ground in front of her, with just enough space for one person. Smiling, she looked up. "There, a simple enough wand movement as you can see. But quite a long spell. You need to add the emphasis on the IS portion of both words - Vergrand-IS Nav-IS. We'll get to the paddle a little later, but for now stick with this, and try to keep them about the same size as these two I made. Come and get some little sticks and you can start. Any questions, please ask."
OOC: Follow all IC instructions carefully! I'm off to bed, but Issy is still there, so I'll answer any questions tomorrow. ^__^
Sarah quickly wrote notes, first abouta coracle and then on the actual spell. She then took out her wand - like all new spells this had to be learned in steps. This time wand movement was first. With wand in hand, Sarah made a circle around a stick, she did it a few times until her wrist started to ache. Happy with her progress she decided to try the incantation:Vegrandis Navis! First she stretched her mouth just so, no tight tongues will work! "Vregrandis Navis" she said - wrong! She had swapped the V and E around! "Vergrand-IS Nav-IS", she tried again - this time it worked! She tried it again and again until she was sure it was perfect. Now she had to combine the two "Vergrand-IS Nav-IS" she said, while making a circle with her wand around a stick, while visualising what was meant to happen. The stick started to curl up... it was working...

Alright, she could totally do this. "Vergrand-IS Nav-IS...Vergrand-IS Nav-IS...Vergrand-IS Nav-IS." See? She was SO ready to make her boat-erm Coracle! Now to practice the wand movement. What was it again? Oh right! Making a circle about the stick-thingers, yeah? With her wandless hand, Ella practiced making the shape in the air above the tooth-picks. "Big full circleeeee." She said as she created the shape. Right. So that part wasn't too difficult either. With a nod, she figured she was ready to make her boat.
After taking a deep breath, Ella focused on the sticks in front of her and pointed her wand at them. She wanted to do this correctly because a)She really cared about doing well in Transfiguration and B)She'd have to float in this thing and she couldn't be floating around in some kind of circular death trap! O__O That would be horrible. Anywhoo-So she continued to focus on what the Coracle was meant to look like and once the vision was clear in her mind, she began to make the full circle shape with her wand. "Vergrand-IS Nav-IS!" Blink.Blink. Nothing. Awww man!

Slowly and very veeeeeeeeeeeery nervously Kurumi opened her eyes to see the results of her spellwork. She expected there to be a massive puddle of something that had once been a toothpick, but instead found that she had indeed accomplished the task. Or, well, it LOOKED like she had.
Out of pure disbelief Kurumi used her wand to poke at it, sort of testing its durability, and when it didn't tear or fall apart right off the bat she sat up a little more straight. Pocketing her wand now, Kurumi reached out and picked up the coracle in her own hands to feel it and test its weight. It felt alright...but the true test would be when it was actually out on the water...and hopefully there wouldn't be any holes in it...

Sarah watched anxiously as the scene unfolded before her eyes. The two ends crept together to make a circle, once the circumference of the circle was complete the bottom began to be filled, soon Sarah had her own boat. "What are the chances of splinters?" she asked the professor, still recovering from quidditch.
She turned the boat over and smoothed her hand over its exterior, looking for leaks. A hollow thing floats better
Good, good. They were doing well so far. Well, most of them were. A couple of them didn't quite get it straight away. But there was nothing wrong with that.
Smiling at them all as she walked around to inspect their coracles, Isabelle flicked her wand out again and moved over to an open piece of grass. Swishing it in a square shape, a large plastic tub suddenly seemed to rise up out of the grass. Once it was stable, she filled it with water before turning to face the kids again.
"Now, when we get to the game later, I have to warn you - the coracles you are making now won't be the ones you use every time," that wasn't clear at all, but she'd explain more later. "For now though, so you feel more comfortable, you can test out how water-tight the things you're making are by placing them in this tank. And sitting in them if you wish. That way you can check where you've gone wrong, if indeed you have at all, and what areas you need to concentrate on to make them lake-worthy."
While I make a mental note of who I'm going to place in teams later on.

"You should be fine," Issy reassured the Gryffindor, walking over to where she stood. Feeling the boat the girl had made she nodded. "It feels quite smooth to me. And I doubt any would get through your clothes anyway."
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
"Okay,'' Jory thought. "Let's get to work.'' He copied the wand movement the Professor had made. The wand pointed downward and tracing a circle over the stick. Then the incantation. "Vegrand-IS Nav-IS!'' he said taking care to put emphasis on the "is" parts.
"Come on,'' the badger said to himself hoping the spell worked.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Still with a slight blush on his cheeks as the Professor motioned for him to sit down, he waited for the next instructions. As it was explained that the thing in front of them was some kind of boat and that they were going ON the water made Daichi a little nervous again. What if he lost his balance in the boat on the water and fell IN the water?
But that wasn't his main problem right now. He first needed to transfigurate a boat or coracle with sticks. He took his wand out of his wrist holster after picking a few sticks and placed them in front of them. He pointed his wand at one of the sticks in a downwards motion and circled it around while saying "Vegrandis Navis!".
A few seconds passed in which nothing happened and when the Professor had demonstrated it the stick transfigurated immediately , meaning that he had failed. Of course he wasn't even surprised by this because he had done some reading about his wand type because he was always annoyed that he couldn't do spells at the first try when even younger students could do it. He had found out that his phoenix feather wand was one of the most powerful wands yet at the same time the hardest to handle. Which could mean why he usually failed. Eventhough he was honored that such a wand had chosen him, he was also annoyed by it.
But that did not mean he would give up so easily. It meant that he needed to try even harder and even Professor Lafay had told him once that he just needed to concentrate better. So he re pointed his phoenix wand at the stick below him and circled it around while saying the incantation with the utmost concentration. But again, nothing happened.
Powerful wand or not, this was stupid! The slytherin couldn't help but pout his lips as he looked around at the other students. Hearing Kurumi having difficulty pronouncing the incantation wrong due to her accent made him chuckle though.
He was going to try one last time, if it still didn't work he would just ask if he could use the boat thingy the Professor had made~ "Vegrandis Navis!" He said confidently and again with concentration written on his face. His eyes widened a bit when the stick moved and began to transfigure. It expanded , became a little hollow aaaaaaand....
It went back to being a normal stick.
He stared at it for a few seconds and nodded his head. "Professor, can i use your boat please? mine doesn't work" he pointed to his stick with a blank expression as he watched how the woman transfigurated a plastic tub out of the grass like "woah"

Eyebrows. So they wouldn't be using their own Coracles all the time? That was interesting. It made Ella very curious about the kind of game they would be playing. The second year was quite glad that Professor Magnus was going to let them test the boats out before hand, though. That meant they wouldn't have to worry once they got into the water. Except there was still just one tiny problem...Ella hadn't even completed her Coracle yet. Sigh.
Looking down at her sticks, Ella once again concentrated on what the Coracle was supposed to look like. Once she had a clear picture of the boat in her mind, the small blonde pointed her wand towards the sticks and began to make the full circle motion. "Vergrand-IS Nav-IS!" The second year was both shocked and pleased when suddenly, the ends of the stick started to curl. MEEP! She had done it! Her Coracle was forming! BEAM.BEAM.BEAM. And after a few seconds, a full-on Coracle masterpiece sat on the ground in front of her! Merlin's beard. It was beautiful!
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
To Jory's disappointment, nothing happened. "Aw, shucks,'' he said. "Here we go again.'' He pointed his wand downward once again and made a circle. "Vegrand-IS Nav-IS!'' he said.
And this time, there were results. The stick end started to curl just as the Professor's had. A few moments later, there was a completed coracle sitting in front of him. "Yeah! This is much better,'' the boy thought.
Good, good. They were doing well so far. Well, most of them were. A couple of them didn't quite get it straight away. But there was nothing wrong with that.
Smiling at them all as she walked around to inspect their coracles, Isabelle flicked her wand out again and moved over to an open piece of grass. Great! Sarah was happy she did not have to worry about splinters... when she had to take out the splinters from quidditch a tang of homesickness hit her as her mother usually helped her with it.
Looking at the tub the professor had conjured made Sarah all excited. She lifted her boat without difficulty - maybe she was not a weakling - although she always lost the wrestling matches with her brothers. She plopped it into the water, putting it against the edge in order to help her climb in. Right foot first Sarah daintily hopped into her boat and sat there. "Professor, are the boats water proof? Does water not harm wood - not that we need these boats to be long lasting or have nice aesthetics of course" she asked the professor from her perch, her eyes scanning the boat for any signs of leakage. She looked like just a jerk would or a sudden movement would send her scurrying away in fright.

Wait...was some one chuckling? Kurumi wasn't entirely sure what could have happened that was funny, but the sound made Kurumi's head turned around in search of where and who it was coming from when she saw Daichi...looking at her...with one of his adorable grins on his face. Wait, was he laughing at HER?
Cue small blush.
Kurumi turnd her head back to her transfigured coracle and then her attention shifted to Professor Magnus when she gave more instructions. Wait, huh?! They weren't going to be using their own?! This sounded...dangerous and most likely most of them were going to take a dive in the lake if the images playing out in her head were any indication of what was about to unfold.
Picking up her coracle to test it in the tanks Professor Magnus had just revealed and began to walk over to it when she heard the meanie Daichi speak. "Just concentrate, Daichi," she said with a confident smile as she patted his shoulder with one of her hands. "You can do it." Flashing him one more quick smile, Kurumi finished making her way to the tank and slipped her coracle into the water.
Well...so far so good. It was floating.
Nervously, Kurumi climbed over the rim of the tank, placing one foot in the center of the round "boat" and then the other with her hands still clutching the side of the tank for dear life. Sloooooowly, Kurumi lowered herself until her only option was to sit, so she did, and accidentally pushed herself away from the edge of the tank. MEEP!
But she was floating. No water seeping through the wood or anything. Yay?

Renesmee stared at the teacher blankly for a few moments, in utter amazement. They were going to create those boat things? Geez! That was going to be really difficult, or so it seemed. Quietly, Ness, watched as the Professor took a stick herself and demonstrated. Wow! She made it look so easy and simple. If only she could do the spell as quick as that.
Getting up, from her pillow Renesmee fetched a few sticks. As she gotback to her spot, she began saying the incarnation in her mind. ‘Vergrandis Navis!’ Right! Now she just had to remember the emphasis on the is. Couldn’t be too bad. It was worth a try.
Placing one stick down on the ground, Ness looked at it in deep concentration. She had to stay focused if she wanted to succeed. Then after a few seconds, she took her wand in her right hand, and practiced the circular movement without saying the words. Practice made perfect right? That’s what she had always learned. She did the movement a few more times and then felt she was ready to attempt this Transfiguration.
"Vergrand-IS Nav-SIS" she said pointing her wand downwards, and then did a small circle above.
Now the magic would hopefully happen... or maybe it wouldn’t.
Silvia walked up to the front to collect a few sticks then returned to her seat. They were going to be making those boats from these? That would be difficult. How could something so small be transfigured into something so large?
She glanced down at her notes where she had written the incantation, and began to recite it. "Vegrand-IS Nav-IS.....Vegrand-IS Nav-IS.....Vegrandis Navis..." She did her best to remember where to put the emphasis on the words. After several minutes she pulled out her wand and silently practiced the circular wand movements. That part was easy enough. Should she give it a try now? Silvia set one of the sticks on the ground in front of her and closed her eyes, concentrating on the image of the coracle. Finally she opened her eyes, and with a circling motion of her wand said, "Vegrandis Navis."
Nothing happened, except that the stick seemed to twitch slightly, though that could have been her imagination. Closing her eyes once again, she prepared to give it another try. "Vegrand-IS Nav-IS," she said slowly, making sure to get the pronunciation right. The stick curled around and slightly enlargened, but it stopped there. This might take awhile, Silvia thought.

Alyssa waited and watched to see whether her spell worked. Then she saw the little stick begin to quiver and move. First it began to curl around until both its ends joined together. Then it began to start expanding outwards and growing bigger, while the gaps underneath began to close and fill up. Soon the bottom of the Coracle was formed and began to seal itself. Alyssa couldn't believe it. Her spell had actually worked. She looked inside it and even though she was tall, Alyssa knew that she would be able to fit inside it.
Now to see whether it would float. She gently carried it over to the large plastic tub of water and placed it inside. IT FLOATED!!. Alyssa carefully inspected it to make sure that no water was leaking through and so far, she couldn't see any, but she knew that the only way to really test it to see whether the spell actually worked was to get inside it. So Alyssa slowly climbed into the tank and placed one foot into the Coracle, while keeping it steady by holding onto its sides, and then quickly sat down, while pulling her other foot in....and then she waited.
The Coracle continued to float and when Alyssa looked around her inside the coracle, she was glad that she couldn't see any water leakage. She moved the Coracl around in the tank, using her hands to stroke the water like it was a paddle, just to get used to being in it. She heaved a sigh of relief. The first part of her spell had worked. Slowly getting out of her Coracle, Alyssa got out of the tank, picked up the Coracle and placed it back on the ground next to her.
I hope I'm doing the right thing. Catching up after being gone a week! ^_^

Sierra just stared forward as she watched the demonstration. None of it sounded too hard, especially seeing as she was a fifth year now and had mastered most wand movements by now. Even still, it was a new spell, so she payed careful attention, narrowing her eyes even, as she watched the professor.
Finally, she made her way forward to get some of the sticks Magnus had instructed them to use. Sticks in one hand and her wand now in the other, she went back to where she'd been during the demonstration. Placing a stick down before her, she raised her wand. She pointed the wand downwards and did a full circle above the stick. "Vegrandis Navis!" she exclaimed.
She sloooowly looked down at the stick, anticipating what would hopefully be a little pieced together...boat...thing.

So they do have to test their coracle . Cassia eyed hers trying to see if any holes were formed. But of course she wouldn't know that's why they have to test it in water. Well, somehow she was afraid to test it, because she was happy that she transfigured it successfully. And testing it now may prove otherwise.
Hmph..
Anyway, it has to be done ,and besides she was her to learn she'll try the spell again if it turned out the coracle was not perfect. The first year took the small boat and went to where Professor Magnus pointed. She placed the coracle on the water surface. And held in her right hand making sure it want swim away.
Up you go Snake, she urged herself sliding one leg inside it. Another breath and she sled the other leg. She stayed still making sure the tiny boat won't flip. And it was quite easy considering she had experience with boats and she was small wasy to control her body and can easily fit.
A couple of seconds passed…a minute. And she was still dry which means that coracle was okay and no holes are here . She smiled a wide, toothily smile for the sake of her success.

Nerida decided it was time to try again. Like the first time she set a stick onto the ground. She closed her eyes and imagined the coracle in her head again and then pointed her wand downwards and made a full circle above the stick before saying "Vergrand-IS Nav-IS," The spell had once again began to work the stick began to curl and than the ends joined up together. Then it began to expand outwards and growing bigger. At the same time the gaps underneath the soon Coracle began to close. Soon the bottom was formed and was sealed it seemed. She picked it up and looked at the bottom, it didn't look like it had any tiny holes.
Now to see if she was right, she walked over to the tub that the Professor had just conjured. She gently set it into the tub expecting it to sink or fill up with water. But to Nerida's amazement it didn't. It floated! Well the only way to see for sure was to sit in it. She put one leg into the coracle but kept hold of the edge of the tub. She than managed to stand in the coracle and than she quickly sat in it. She had been expecting for the thing to just fill with water. No water sinking in yet? Yay!
So some of them were having a little trouble it seemed. Isabelle sighed and looked over at Daichi when he spoke to her. "Quitters never win, and winners never quit, Mister Katharos. Which is my way of saying: no. Keep going, you will get it, I assure you."
Besides he had plenty of time to practice. She gave him a smile as she walked off.

Several of the students were taking advantage of the tank Issy had provided for them, which was pleasing to see. And so far none of them had sunk. Which was even better. Although Kurumi looked a little nervous moving away from the edge. "You all right, Miss Hollingberry?" she called, nodding at her and hoping for some kind of thumbs up.
"Sorry, Sarah, what were you saying?" Isabelle had caught the tail end of the question, but could work out the general gist of it. "Water does rot wood after a certain amount of time, but as you say we're not using them for long. If you were you would need to treat them, as muggles do, or place spells on them to make them perfect."
Clapping her hands, Issy stepped forward and waved towards those that were in the tank to get their attention as well. Making sure she was in a place they could all see her, she began to speak. "Now, I know some you would wish to carry on with the current spell, but I'm going to fill you all in on the one for the paddle. It is the coracle spell you will be repeating over and over for the game later, so this is slightly less important for that. But I expect you all to take it just as seriously."
Placing another stick on the ground, Isabelle flexed her arms and pointed her wand at it. "Ta-lea!" She drew a horizontal line in the air, finished with a little loop at the end. The small stick began to stretch in length and width, one end of it becoming broader and flatter than the rest. Once completed a paddle was in it's place. "See? The wand movement is a line and loop, as if you are drawing the shape of a spoon in the air." That made sense right? They could visualise a spoon. Well, as long as they didn't create one.
"If there are no questions, you can go ahead and try this spell too. Or carry on for a while to get your coracle just right." Issy smiled and stowed her wand back in it's holster. She was done with it for now.

As she was enjoying her floating in her perfectly made coracle, she heard Professor calling on them. Cassia raised herself fast and go closer until Professor came in view. She watched the new spell taking in the movement and the incantation.
When they Professor was done, Cassia went to get another stick and went to her seat placing the small boat besides her. She wrote the incantation and the description of the movement. Putting aside the parchment she placed the stick down and took her wand out.
Like always, she wanted to practice speaking the incantation first. She cleared her throat and said," Talea." No Professor said it differently, she thought."Taa-lea" She said, "Ta-lea…" She repeated. Satisfied with her short experience she took her wand to train on the movement.
A line and a loop, ignoring the spoon thing because that will probably distract Cassia. She waved her wand in a straight line, "A line…." She made a curve then ,"And a loop.." Enough training she thought. Time for the real thing.
Standing straight she pointed her wand and made a line and a curve, "Ta-lea!" Nothing! Either she wasn't concentrating or the curve was exaggerated a bit. Pointing her wand again and drawing a line and then a loop, "Ta-lea!" And her it was a nice convenient paddle. She grinned at her paddle and bent down to check it out.

Alyssa quickly looked up when Professor Magnus clapped her hands to get everyone's attention. When she told everyone that they would be using the "Vegrand-IS Nav-IS" spell again during the duration of the game, she made it a point to repeat it over and over in her head, just to remind herself.
Then she watched as the Professor showed them how to conjure the paddle. The incantation was,"Ta-Lea" and that the wand movements were a horizontal line ending in a loop, like drawing a spoon. Then she watched as the spell was cast and the stick was transformed into a paddle.
Now was practice time. Alyssa first practiced the words to the spell, repeating it over and over again until she was familiar with it. "Ta-Lea...Ta-Lea...Ta-Lea...Ta-Lea."
Then she practiced the wand movements. Taking out her wand, she drew a horizontal line ending with a loop at the end. Horizontal line and a loop at the end.
Now it was time for her to see whether she could put both spell and wand movement together and conjure up the paddle. Like she had done with the Coracle, she first studied the shape of the paddle that the Professor had conjured up until she had the image of the paddle in her mind.
When she felt that she was ready, Alyssa placed the stick on the ground in front of her, cleared her mind of all thought except for the spell and what her intent was. Taking out her wand, she drew a horizontal line ending in a loop at the end and said,"Ta-Lea"...and then waited.

Kurumi sat veeeeeeeeeery still as her little boat thing drifted more towards the center of the tank. The good news was that she wasn't sinking or leaking, the bad news was that now Kurumi was wondering if she would somehow manage to flip herself over in the tank.
Not that that would be the end of the world or anything. Kurumi just fancied staying dry until they actually were in the lake and falling in seemed like a more plausible thing.

Kurumi's head snapped up when she heard Professor Magnus call out to her and she sort of offered the woman and awkward wave while her coracle rocked back and forth due to her movements. Erm...not good... Kurumi lowered her arm rather abruptly but somehow managed to keep her mildly confident looking smile on her lips as she did. "I-I'm fine, professor," Kurumi assured the woman. Just, you know, not going to move any part of my body for a while...

Rocking just a little in her coracle while she listened to Professor Magnus moved things along just a little. Although Kurumi was a little confused about needing the other spell more. Were they going to make a path out of them to cross the lake or something? Sort of like lily pad hopping?! That wouldn't explain the paddles though. Hmmm...
Shaking her head to refocus on the demonstration. "Ta-lea..." Kurumi repeated under her breath while she continued to rock back and forth a little in the tank. Reaching into her pockets for no real reason other than to have something to do with her hands, Kurumi winced when her fingers were jabbed by some of the toothpicks in her pocket - the ones that she thought she would need after her imagined failed attempts. Things had just worked out better than she imagined they would have.
Tracing a line with a loop at the end with her wand a few times, Kurumi leaned over the edge of her coracle for a moment before sitting back up straight. She wasn't freaking out like she had been before, but that was because her coracle was proving itself to be sturdy.
Back to rolling her shoulders to loosen them up a bit, Kurumi set the toothpick on her knee and readied her wand again. If all went well...she could use her hopefully transfigured paddle to get herself back to the edge of the tank where she could then slip out of the tank and back on dry land.
And maybe help Daichi.
"Ta-lea," Kurumi said as she repeated the wand movement over the toothpick on her knee. It immediately began to morph and twist and expand...wait...no...it wasn't really expanding - at least not in the way Professor Magnus' had. After a few moments Kurumi looked at the results of her spellwork and couldn't help but laugh. She had a paddle...but a paddle that was the perfect size for a cornish pixie or a garden gnome.
More to amuse herself than seriously thinking that it would be effective, Kurumi held it between her two fingers and dipped it into the water as though she was going to paddle, which obviously didn't work, but it was amusing to her. Wand back out again, Kurumi pointed it at the mini!paddle. "Reverto."
Mini!paddle back to toothpick, Kurumi pondered just using her hands to get out of the tank, but she would feel more accomplished if she did so by means of a paddle...
