As you walk into the classroom, you notice that everything is exactly where it should be. The desks are in their perfect rows, the large one belonging to Professor Magnus is situated at the back of the room, covered still in it's usual piles of papers. The blackboard is off to the side and has the following written on it:

Practice? Well... She was good with Lumos. Very good. Therefore, Delilah chose to practice the flower-conjuring spell, seeing as though she'd never done so before.
Maybe this was the spell Jonathan had used in Diagon Alley...
Hmm.
Delilah watched around for a little while, while other people tried the spells out. Finally, she took her own wand out of her holster and fiddled with it between her hands. How had Sierra done it? Orchideous... That was definitely the incantation. But what was the movement? She glanced around. People seemed to be waving their arms in circular motions. Well, that was simple enough.
Raising her wand, the girl focused her mind on some flowers, made a large circular motion with her wand, and clearly said "Orchideous!"
...
Nothing.
Oh.
The Slytherin frowned. The lack of flowers was kind of to be expected; actual spellwork didn't really cooperate with her. She overheard Sierra if anyone needed any help with the spell... She sighed, and furrowed her brows closer together. They were in the same year... Surely Delilah was supposed to be able to do this spell as well (or at least nearly as well) as Sierra was...
It couldn't hurt to ask for the help... No!
She was going to try again, first. THEN if there was nothing, she'd go and ask for some help. Or maybe she could ask Jonathan to help her with the spell outside of class... He had to be able to do it, and he wasn't half as scary...

For whatever reason, Alex was really NOT that good at Lumos but really really good at the flower spell. SO that would be the spell he'd be practicing. Besides, the flowers in this room were starting to bother his allergies and the LAST thing he needed was a pollen filled ball of daisies to pop out of his wand and make it worse! So, he twirled his wand between his fingers a few times before clearing his throat.
"Lumos!" he muttered, and watched as a tiny little light lit up at the end of his wand but extinguished a few seconds later. WHAT was it about this spell that stumped him so bad??

Alyssa was determined to get the Orchideous Charm right. She wanted to at least get some REAL flowers instead of fake ones. So she concentrated really hard on the spell visualizing what she wanted. She saw the type of flowers in her mind and as she concentrated, she drew a circle with her wand and when the two points met, said the words to the charm.
"ORCHIDEOUS"
Something popped out from her wand. A single rose bud.
'Well at least I got a flower this time.' Alyssa thought to herself. Now all she needed to do was get a bunch!!

So...they were supposed to practice now? Hm... Penelope decided she'd try the Lumos one. She felt like she remembered seeing her mother use it a long time ago, so at least she knew it'd be useful.
Picking up her wand, she said the incantation, "Lumos."
...
And nothing happened.
Frowning, she shook her wand and spoke the incantation again...
...still nothing.
Frustrated, she gave her wand another shake and said for the third time, "LUMOS."
A light suddenly appeared ever so faintly at the tip of her wand before vanishing as quickly as it had come.
Penelope scowled at her wand.

"Now, most of you have been sat there and not using your wands this lesson, and due to the fact we have a little bit of time before class is over - I would like you all to either choose 'Lumos' or 'Orchideous' and have a little practise. If you older students don't wish to do that, it is optional, you can help the younger ones get it right. And if anyone needs my help, I'll be right here too."

Nodding at the Professor's approval, Dylan started making his way back towards his seat when he spied a boy about his age...if not older attempting Lumos. He paused, thinking he might go over and offer some assistance...but didn't know if it was really needed.
Truth was, it just seemed a bit...erm...ridiculous for someone your own age trying to teach you something. Dylan couldn't see himself being THAT guy.
So, walking passed him, the Slytherin spotted a Hufflepuff emblem on the guy's robes. He simply offered a nod and continued walking...

While Ella really liked the idea of conjuring flowers, she thought it more practical to master lumos instead. She had done the spell a few times before but it was never as strong as she thought it should be. Perhaps now that she had seen someone else do it correctly, she would be able to get it right.
Picking up her wand, the small blonde held it out in front of her and focused on what she wanted to happen. "Lumos!" A burst of light shot out the tip of her wand towards the person in front of her and she really hoped they weren't facing or...or that they had by some weird chance brought sunglasses. Heh. Unfortunately, the light went out after a moment and Ella frowned. Had she not been concentrating enough? She looked around, wondering if anyone else was having the same trouble.
After a couple of minutes, the second year focused her mind again and raised her wand out in front of her as she had done before. "Lumos!" This time, the light that streamed from the tip of her wand seemed stronger, maybe brighter even. She smiled, wondering if that meant she had done a better job on this try. Careful not to blind any of her classmates, she continued to watch the light, wondering if it would die out like it had previously.

OOC: Class is due to close tonight, so you have a few hours to practise one of these spells - and ONLY ONE OF THOSE TWO. Older students can either assist the younger ones, or practise themselves. Isabelle is there for anything you need.
Nerida looked around it appered like no one needed any help at the moment or wanted help. She closed her eyes for a moment imagined the orchids in hre mind opened her eyes still imagining the flowers concentrated. She drew a circle with her wind and when the two points met she said Orchideous A bunh of orchids appered pround of her work she smiled.

Minerva had done Lumos before so she decided to try and do Orchideous. She wasn't sure what flowers to think about. She thought and decided on her favorite flowers. She said the word a few times making sure she was saying it correctly Orchideous, Orchideous. Then she picked up her wand and drew a circle has she came around to meet the two points together she said very clearly "Orchideous" the prettiest Lilacs appeared on her table. She really liked this spell and decided to write it down on her parchment.

So he tried a little faster.
"ORCHIDEOUS." Only, the wand movement was forgotten this time.
Pouting, Theo thought he'd pluck up the courage to ask the Prefect who had just demonstrated. This was a big leap for Theo, and his old!people fear.
"Excuse me? Could you help me with the Orchideous, please?" It was her prefect duties, of course.
Oh. It was that kid. The one she'd seen talking with West a time or two. A Slytherin, she knew. She'd also seen him around the common room. She hadn't seen his prior practicing. She'd been looking around the room, watching all the others, and there had just been too many people around for her to notice just one.
...but now he had all her attention. "Yeah, sure," she said with a shrug. "I haven't exactly seen you try it out, though. Go ahead and try it again, and I'll watch and see what happens." Or what doesn't happen, really. She stepped back and motioned for him to get started.

Alyssa looked at some of the other students who were turning out nice bouquets with their spell and was determined that this time she would get a bouquet. It didn't matter what kind of flower it was.
So she closed her eyes and concentrated on what she wanted the spell to do. 'Give me a bouquet of flowers. Roses would be nice but if not, at least real ones, and a bunch.' Alyssa thought to herself.
Still concentrating on what she wanted, Alyssa opened her eyes, took a deep breath to clear her mind and just concentrated on making a bouquet of flowers. When she felt she was ready, she moved her wand forming a circle, and when the two points met said,"ORCHIDEOUS" loudly with determination.
POP!! A bouquet of roses sprang out from the end of her wand. Alyssa wanted to jump up and down with glee, but suddenly remembered that she was a Fourth year now and had to behave more maturely. She was finally successful in using the flower making spell.

Right...it was his turn to do a demonstration.
Gideon had watched the rest of the volunteers do their own and wondering how he was going to do his and not feel like a complete fool. They all seemed so knowledgeable and calm and collected. Okay...breath Gert, ye can do this. And he had managed to accomplish it during his OWL...just hoped it was part of the exam he had graded well on. Oh well, it was too late to unvolunteer.
The sixth year prefect got up from his seat and stepped towards the front, turning around to he could face his classmates and Professor Magnus. "Ristarsis is a transfiguration spell by virtue that it is a spell that changes the appearance of something," he started out, take a breath as he gathered his words better. "More correctly it is a color changing spell. One that works or can work on both a person's hair or eyes." After all it wasn't always workable for it depended on the intent and ability of the person casting. His mind absently flashed back to the person he had partnered with for the previous lesson on the subject and he couldn't help but falter just a little.
Closing his eyes for but a short moment to gather himself, he pushed forward. Thoughts of Selina had no place bothering him in class and distracting him. Gideon couldn't...wouldn't let it do so. Opening up his eyes once more, he slipped his wand from where it had been kept in his pocket to actually show the spell in use. Purposefully doing all he could to focus on the professor's part of the lesson rather than anyone else, remembering the wand movement needed for the spell to work.
"Ris-TAR-is!" Gideon cast, touching the tip of his wand to his head and focusing on changing the color...picking a nice shade of blue rather then the red used before. Too many memories. It seemed to have worked for he was soon greeted by the sight of a blue curl as he pulled it slightly in front of his eyes to see. "Just one tap upon yer head as you say the incantation," the sixth year instructed before letting go of the curl. He looked to the professor hoping he had done alright and moved to head back to his seat.

Raising her wand again, Ella decided to practice some more. She was getting better at making the light from her wand shine brighter and was feeling pretty accomplished. At this rate, she'd be a Lumos pro in no time. GRIN. With a deep breath, Ella smiled and got ready to try again. "Lumos!" The light emerged from her wand immediately, shining on a nearby first year. "You're welcome for the spotlight." Ella said cheerfully, lowering her wand again. This was kind of fun.
Nigel finally thought he was getting the hang of Lumos. He had already got a little light on the tip of his wand before it went out. He thought this time he could get a full light on his wand.
Lumos, Lumos, Lumos. Nigel kept on thinking. He finally put his wand up away from his face and said "LUMOS" loudly. All of a sudden a light appeared on the tip of his wand and it did not go out. Nigel was bouncing up and down on his feet. he was so happy. After about a minute he calmed down with the light still bright on the tip of his wand. This was awesome.

Annabelle decided she wanted to practice the Lumos charm. She saw all the other classmates doing it and decided to give it a shot. She knew she needed a lot of concentration for this spell. She said "Lumos!" but nothing happened the first time. Then she tried the second time, it did a little spark but not as big as she wanted it to be. She tried the third time and still the little spark came out.
"Alright this time..." she told herself. She concentrated and then said "Lumos!" then her wand glowed brightly. That is what she wanted the whole time.

These spells just never seemed to work as well for her as all the other students. After that one time her wand did something cool at the wand shop, it never seemed to want to cooperate after that. Penelope almost considered chucking it out a window and trying these spells without a wand. Surely it'd be easier.
Before she could really consider that idea and find a decent window, someone was suddenly talking to her and asking if she needed help. "Yeah, I s'pose I do," she said, still scowling slightly as she turned to look at the guy who had asked, though she wasn't actually scowling at him. "I don't suppose you know a spell that would magically make me good at this, do you?" Worth a shot, right? There was surely a spell for everything...aside from those exceptions they'd mentioned earlier, but they didn't count.

Nerida succesfully doing flowers, though of course she had already knew how was beside the point. It was time for lumos. Lumos! It immediatly shined from the tip of her wand, it was super bright and she accidentaly pointed it at a few first years. Quickly so she wouldnnt burn blind anyone else she yelled Nox! The light went out and the third year just giggled...

Kurumi continued to sit in her seat, blushing furiously through all the demonstrations, and nodded her head after each one. It was a nice refresher on each one and Kurumi found her index finger moving along with each wand movement as the spell formed on her lips but she didn't utter it. She simply mouthed the words until Professor Magnus told them that it was time to practice a little.
Kurumi's first instinct was to look around the room and see who, if anyone, needed assistance but everyone seemed to have a handle on things or was already receiving aid, so Kurumi decided to take the opportunity to practice a little. Kurumi was already very accomplished with Lumos having used it almost every night last term when she had been snuggled up under her covers with her textbooks to study a cram as much knowledge as she could. So Orchideous it was.
Wand out and twirling between her fingers, Kurumi focused on an image of orchids in her mind - her mother's favorite flower. "Orchideous," Kurumi said calmly. There was a small pop noise and then a bouquet of white orchids appeared at the end of her wand. Satisfied, Kurumi removed the flowers and set them on the table. She would use them to decorate the dorm room later perhaps.
Kurumi lifted her gaze again and looked around the classroom. No explosions? That was good.

She KNEW it!
There WAS a spell for everything! Well, a potion, he'd said, but same thing really. "What's the potion called?" She wanted to know, even if he thought it funny and that she wouldn't need it. She MIGHT need it one day if she couldn't perform a spell and there was no one around to help her.
But until then...she'd have to do without it. So...relax? She frowned but allowed her shoulders to relax, and her grip on her wand loosened slightly. Was this relaxed enough? As for the demonstration... "Well, I was just holding my wand like this," she gripped it again, "and I said the incantation thingy - Lumos, right? But nothing happened. So then I shook my wand like this," she gave it another rather hard shake, "and I said 'Lumos' again but it still didn't really work." And that was her demostration of her inability to cast a proper spell.

Jory decided on the second spell. With his wand at the ready, he focused on a bouquet yellow roses- his mom planted a few over the holidays, so he guessed that's why it was the first thing that popped into his head.
"Orchideous!" he said, his eyes squeezed tightly shut, his mind on the roses. He heard a faint pop and opened his eyes. To his disappointment, all he saw was three roses sticking out at his wand's end. "So much for a bouquet,'' he said aloud. "Here we go again.'' He readied his wand.

Not really knowing what to think about the sudden fire in the younger girl's eyes, Dylan arched a brow. It couldn't hurt to tell her...Where was a first year going to find the Luck Potion...brewed the right way? Dylan, himself, wasn't even sure how to get his hands on the powerful potion. "A little something called Felix Felicis...With it, anything could be possible...but it's extremely difficult to make." Dylan knew this because he'd tried a few times...And they'd each been complete failures...
Not offering anything further on that subject, he grinned while moving back some so she could demonstrate. And upon seeing her do so, the Slytherin thought he might have an idea as to why it wasn't working out so great for her. "If I may..." Moving forward, he leaned down to grasp her wrist. "I know I'm just a Fourth Year...but one learns at a young age that to perform any magic, it takes patience, confidence, and absolute focus...The way your waving your wand is all wrong." Shaking her wrist some with his own hand, Dylan attempted to relax the girl's obvious tension. "I think that a lot of times we confuse intensity with focus."
Nodding his head, he once again moved back, releasing her arm. "Now, try it again...but this time, IMAGINE your wand lighting from the tip. Form a clear mental picture and focus on it." Intent was a big part of the casting process, right? He thought he was remembering this correctly. "...And instead of shaking your wand like you would a stick in front of a dog, hold it firmly while you pronounced LOO-mos."
Messer took out his wand. At first he wanted to do the Orchideous spell but then he decided to do the Lumos instead since he's not really like flower that much. The young badger raised his wand out in front of him "Lumos!" Nothing happen. Typical. "Lumos!" Still nothing.
He took a deep breath and tried once again "Lumos!" This time he said it with clearer voice. To his surprise a light emerged from his wand. He did it. He did it! Yay, Go him!

Prue smiled nervously as she pulled out her wand again. Remembering the pronunciation in her mind and trying to not look completely foolish she closed her eyes for a moment, biting her lip in thought.
"Orchideous" she said confidently before doing the circular motion, seeing 4 red roses, which was definitely an improvement over the last time that she'd done that certain spell and managed to mispronounce the incantation...
Michelle stared at her wand. She was excited. She was going to get to perform a spell. What could be more exciting than that?
So which one should I try?
She looked around the room, at other students practising. Nope, she couldn't make up her mind.
Maybe I could try Lumos. That'd be pretty cool.
Yup. Definitely Lumos. Chelle went towards a quiet and less crowded place in the classroom and, with full concentration, whispered, "Lumos." Her heart was pounding in her chest and she could feel beads of sweat appear on her forehead. Suddenly, a narrow beam of light appeared at the end of her wand.
Chelle's chest swelled up and her lips broke into a grin.
Zack was all so sure that he could easily do lumos very well. He had been doing it quite often because whenever he returned to his dormitory it was always dark and now he was a kind of professional in doing the spell. He thought of trying something he didn't practice at all. Professor had given them only two spells to practice and they had to choose any one of them that made it a bit less optional. So as he had no choice so decided to try the other spell Orchideous something about flowers coming out from the wans tip. It's worth trying he thought and removed his wand.
He thought for a while the movement for the spell and then holding his wand in his right hand it moved it his wand in a circle and said "Orchideous". But to his surprise nothing happened. Maybe he needed to concentrate a nit more and make the circle more correctly. He took a firm grip of his wand and move it in a circle in front of his saying "Orchideous" and a bouquet of flowers conjured from the tip of his wand. He looked at it in complete surprise. He didn't think it would happen in just a second try. He took the flowers happily in his and looked at them. They looked so beautiful. Now what was he going to do with it? He looked around to see professor and there she was. He moved closer to her and said "Professor, what should i do with them?" he asked nervously.
