WHY, OH WHY DID BOYS HAVE TO BE SO.... GRR.
Oooh... pretty. "They're great... what um... what does the S stand for..?" she asked. She felt like she was betraying both Kennedy and Aaron with her complete lack of knowledge in this area... but at least she knew they were to do with a superhero right..?
Wait... they were to do with a superhero... weren't they?
Delilah tilted her head to the side as Aurora said she wasn't sure. "How come?" Last year, from what Delilah remembered, Aurora LIKED Hogwarts. Why wouldn't she be sure about being excited to go back?
When she asked what the S was for, Delilah smiled. SHE KNEW THE ANSWER TO THAT ONE. "It's for Superman. The socks are supposed to look like his super hero costume." Delilah paused. Would saying 'the heel of them even look like his underwear, too!' be too much? Probably. She decided to save sharing that bit of information with someone who KNEW what the 'S' was for.
She nodded nervously, realising she didn't have much else to add to that bit of the conversation, then looked around. The queue seemed to have moved on a bit. THE ORANGE JUICE IS NEARLY HERS!

Aurora looked at Delilah for a second, wondering if she should say anything. Well, something made her trust the girl... "Just... people and drama and boys and... well... things are going to be a bit... awkward." she said, probably making little, if any, sense. "Also... OWLs." And that needed no further explanation - anyone looking forward to exams was an idiot.
"Superman! I know about him! He's the one who can't go near... Kr... Kryptonite?" She remembered that one because it reminded her of her brother. She'd called him Kryspinite for ages after she'd found out about that. Though to be honest, she'd never actually watched anything to do with Superman... or read any of the comics. Hmm...
OOH! The queue was moving. Aurora's stomach rumbled. "I am so hungry..." she said. "Um, Delilah, do you know how to use this muggle money?" she asked quietly, looking down at the two notes and the silly coins in her hand.
Kennedy raised his eyebrows in surprise. She didn't like...chips? Was that even possible? Apparently, it was. He nodded. It was her lost.
Why was she looking at him like that?! Was it because he was a Slytherin? Hmm. Eh, he got that stare a few times. "Yes, and we're going to win the House Cup this year." he said, a smirk lifting the corner of his lips. He just wanted to put that out there. He felt real good for this year and he was pumped...and he couldn't wait to see who else - beside him - were the Slytherin leaders...Oh. Eve's comment stopped his thoughts. She was a Hufflepuff. Not that he minded it was just that...reasons. Kennedy gave a slow nod and said, "That's...cool. You guys won all three cups last year." He probably looked stupid for saying something so obvious.
Yeah. Evelyn was kind of expecting that. That expression that said she was crazy for not liking chips and that she was missing out on something so good. "I know, it's kind of weird." Evelyn just lifted her shoulders in a shrug. "But, I just don't."
Evelyn let out a small laugh. Win the Cup? Yeah, right. "If you say so. I think we're going to win all the three cups this year as well." Yep. And, she actually thought so. The Badgers performed really well last year and she couldn't see why they couldn't repeat that performance. She had a feeling that the Hufflepuff were going to dominate this year as well. She wore a matching smirk on her face. "You can continue dreaming though." Cool that she was Hufflepuff? Yeah, obviously. "I know." Evelyn said, happily.

Kennedy shrugged nonchalantly. "It's okay," he said. "I don't like soda, now that's weird," and he didn't like peas, or liver, or bad smells, or not having money, or getting his shoes dirty and MANY other things. He just felt like putting out there though, you know, so she won't feel all weird and stuff.
Now, Kennedy chuckled at that. "Well, good luck," he said in a good manner, but his pride inside was jumping with, 'BECAUSE YOU'LL NEED IT!'. The prefect smiled as he quirked up an eyebrow. "I don't have to since it is going to happen," he grinned. He had a great feeling the snakes would do WAY better than they did last term and there was nothing that could dampen his spirits.

Nothing.
Soda? "Really? Well, I don't think that's weird at all. I guess people just have their own likes and dislikes, right?" She gave him another smile. Each to their own. OH. He said he was a sixth year, right? "Hey, how did your OWLS go?" Yeah, that was kind of random..but she was random. Sometimes.
"Sorry to burst your bubble but I think you are the guys who need luck." Pffft. Luck. Yeah, right. They were loyal and hard-working, which were very good traits. What did else did they need? Gosh, both of them were going way overboard with the whole supporting their house thing and she was about to say that to him when..OH. "You seem too confident about it." Evelyn raised her eyebrows, a playful grin playing on her lips.

There was no way that she was going to pass every exam, especially with bloody potions in the mix of the exams she was taking. At first, the fifth year contemplated not even taking potions, but then her mother forced her hand and made her reconsider. The conversation was not particularly long. All she remembered was that her mother expressed that no daughter of hers was not going to take potions. It was one of the major subjects at Hogwarts and there were a few classes that her mother defiantly wanted her to take, which unfortunately had potions on the list.
So when Kurumi verbalized that she chuckled and crossed her arms amused, "Miss Hollingberry, I don't doubt your brilliance, but that is not a guarantee you can make. I'm going to fail my potions exam- you and I both know that." It was not like she was ashamed of the truth. There was very little she could say to defend herself when it came to potions. She was just that terrible at it; Potions was to Selina like fish are to oxygen. They just did not mix in nature.
However, the tone of the conversation started to dip into a more serious setting when the little notebook was introduced. As Kurumi spoke about specifics Selina turned it over in her hand to get a better look at it. It was odd to think that one little book could hold so much significance. To Kurumi, this book was the thing that kept her mother alive in spirit. It had to the woman's thoughts and feelings and dreams. Oddly, it was like a small part of her still left alive through the twists and turns of her curvy handwriting.
Then Kurumi looked up at Kurumi because she did not hear her friend speaking anymore. The girl had fresh pain in her eyes. As much as the journal meant to her best friend, loosing her mother was a new wound... it had barely scabbed over. There was a long road ahead to recovery. So Seilna reached out with her free hand and grasped tightly onto Kurumi's hand. "Hey," she said grabbing her best friend's attention, "when you are ready to read this... if you want, I'll be there. I'll be here every step of the way. You're my best friend."
Kurumi blinked several times before responding. "No no no, I do believe you misheard what I said, Miss Skylar," Kurumi said, shaking her head and flailing waving her hand. "I didn't say you would pass Potions, I just said that I would make sure you didn't get a T. As long as you do well on the practical you should be able to accomplish that. Just have to memorize facts and ingredients." Brewing...well...that was something Kurumi was just glad she wouldn't be around to witness. She was feeling bad for the Ministry employee who had to oversee Selina's OWL already, however. Poor bloke, or woman, had no idea what was coming and the prefect sure hoped that he would be receiving a rather large sum of something for compensation.
Maybe Kurumi should send Selina in with some cookies before the practical? Soften the blow a bit?
But Kurumi's thoughts did not linger on cookies for too long as conversation shifted back to her mother's journal. The strange thing about the entries was that Kurumi could only read the ones that were almost impossible to read due to her mother's shaky hand. The ones in the beginning, the ones that were written in her mother's perfect calligraphy. Yet, no matter now much control over her body's movements her mother had lost she always managed to write the names of her children and husband perfectly. It was as if in doing so she wanted them to know that she was fighting to stay with them. Fighting to let them know just how much she still cared.
Chewing on her bottom lip firmly, Kurumi swallowed first in a feeble attempt to compose herself. "I'm not sure I will ever be...not the whole thing," she frowned, her brown eyes looking down at the ground. "So...so much has changed...is still changing..." She tucked a strand of her dark hair behind her ear and ruffled her bangs nervously. "I...I can't do it anymore...Selina...it...it switched off..." She looked back up at her best friend now, brown eyes meeting blue ones.
Kurumi Hollingberry had a normal appearance now. There was nothing unusual about her and she would just blend in with a crowd. It was everything she had ever wanted, but now she felt more lost than ever and even less like herself.

Delilah looked at Aurora somewhat blankly. She wasn't quite sure why people and boys and drama would make everything awkward. "Oh. I see." Blink. Blink. "Well... No. I don't. Not properly." She glanced at Aurora in a way that said 'but you don't have to explain it to me, it's fine, honestly!' then watched a muggle boy for a moment. Then Aurora mentioned OWLs. "Oh, yes. Those. I'm not really looking forward to them..."
Her eyes lit up when Aurora said she knew about Superman, her opinion of the red haired girl raising a little. "You do?!" She nodded enthusiastically, "Kryptonite, that's right! Deadly stuff. Well, I think. I don't understand the whole story yet, I'm still trying to learn it all." She'd promised herself that she wasn't going to tell anyone that, but she decided that Aurora could probably be trusted with such information. Mostly seeing as though Delilah herself only knew a little bit more than Aurora did.
...
Money?
Delilah shook her head, and took the note out of her pocket. £20. She didn't even know what the '£' symbol was for. "I haven't got a clue. I just hope I've got enough." Considering she had a Muggleborn dad - who GREW UP around Muggles and with all their silly conventions, you'd think he'd have passed on some of the information. But no. He didn't think she'd ever need to know about these things. Pfft.
"You'd think they'd bother to teach us these kinds of things in school, wouldn't you?" She added, quietly.

"Yeah, my boyfriend likes superheroes and stuff so I kinda make an effort..." Though she didn't do it for him. "and I think they're really cool too." she admitted with a grin. "Me too," she said. "And Batman..." Because those two were her favourite. For some reason.
Aurora glanced at the note in Delilah's hand. She hadn't seen anyone else carry them. "If that squiggly sign is like Galleons then it should be enough...
I think." she shrugged. "I like these ones..." She held up a fifty pence. "I like the shape." Because 50ps were all angle-y and cool. And they were bigger than the 20p ones. "Yeah. They should teach it in muggle studies or something..." She thought back to the lessons they'd had. What about that etiquette one? Wizarding etiquette was almost the same... A money lesson would've been far more useful...

Kurumi Hollingberry had a normal appearance now. There was nothing unusual about her and she would just blend in with a crowd. It was everything she had ever wanted, but now she felt more lost than ever and even less like herself.
Selina smiled at Kurumi when she cleared up that Selina would not pass Potions. At least the two of them were on the same level of understanding when it came to that small fact. The ability of Potions when it came to Selina was not something that anyone who knew her well was confident on. The fifth year redhead was afraid for the poor Ministry man who had to deal with her test results. In fact, she had been having nightmares as of late about the day of her test and the brewing portion. The recurring nightmare she kept having involved her hair growing three times in size and the poor Ministry man getting blown sky high.
With an ounce of a chuckle to her voice she responded, "Well... I don't know if it is going to be as simple as that, but I will try my hardest." A smirk grew on her face and she added, "If I had some sweets to help get through the study sessions I'm sure I would do plenty better..." That was unlikely, but it sure would make the whole thing a lot more tolerable.
The conversation transitioned to the journal that was safe in Selina's hand. Her best friend spoke very low and the fifth year could barely make out what she was saying. Finally, it all connected in her head what the older prefect was saying and Selina, on impulse, reached out grabbed her best friend's hand. It was then she caught sight of Kurumi's eyes and it clicked what Kurumi was saying. Her eyes were brown. The purple hue that was everpresent in her best friend's eyes were gone. Her ability had just turned off.
Without even thinking about it, Selina pulled her friend into a hug. No words came to her mind. What could she say? What could she say at a time like this?
