Kennedy tried to stifle his laugh, but failed. He could already picture John with a cowboy hat. At his friend's second comment it was almost impossible to resist a laugh, but he managed to calm himself. "I'm not wearing a hat." And they weren't going to be called Los Cowboys. Just no. Kennedy rolled his eyes and turned his attention to the piranha plant.

His fingers were already tingling and ready to get to work, but it seem Johnathan was more excited than he was. He resembled a first year walking into the Great Hall for the first time. Hehe. "I thought you were going to put up a fight when it came to this," Kennedy said, as he approached the plant and took the top it mouth and pulled it gently up.

The first thing the boy did was peer into the the piranha's mouth and scrunched his nose. Boy was he glad it was asleep. Kennedy looked up at John and hoped for the plant's sake that he didn't do it too roughly. "Go...just be careful....with it." Yes, he was a bit more worried about the plant's safety than John's.

Oakey? What kind of name was that? Milton eyed the kid. He was much shorter than Milton. Smaller altogether, really. Milton shrugged. "Whatever."

Milton went back to scrubbing a tooth of the plant, but it was still difficult to get around. Oh, good suggestion to hold open the mouth. "Yeah, do that." he said. No please or thank you. THERE. Much better. "Brilliant." Milton could now reach all the teeth in the plant's mouth.

And since this was kind of a team effort, Milton turned to the kid named Oakey. "You wanna give it a go?"

Oh you are both doing such a wonderful job, bravo, really. Oakey said in a sweat as he watched the other boy scrub at the Evil Plant's teeth. If you need me to do anything...just give me a slap and I'll come to. He spoke to the two of them. He then began imagining the two of them being slurped up by the Pirahna Plant, and lick it's lips after enjoying a nice meal.

Then the Older Ravenclaw asked if he wanted a go? Okay, Oakey, now is the perfect chance to fake fainting. just close your eyes and fall back, it's really that simple. But he wasn't falling back he was going forward. Feeling to make sure his gloves were on Oakey took the brush from the boy named Milton and started brushing. He stood an arms length away from the Pirahna Plant and began brushing with his head facing the other way and his eyes closed. He was at it for about a minute and decided to take a peek. He looked and realized he had actually missed every tooth and was brushing the roof of the Plant's mouth.

"Oakey you are missing every tooth. My advice is to actually look at the teeth when you are doing it. See my hands are firmly holding on to the plant's mouth and remember it is sedated so it's barely even conscious and won't bite. So just brush the teeth because you don't want to hurt the plant by brush the roof of it's mouth." Alyssa advised Oakey.

She then turned to look at Milton, "Milton, do think I can try having a go a flossing it's teeth later. Whew! I still think the Professor should consider allowing us to use mouthwash or at least something to improve it's breath. Bad breath usually means that there are germs in this mouth, doesn't it."

Milton handed the toothbrush to the kid and let him start brushing. But... What in the name of Merlin was he trying to do? Scrub the plant's gums off? "You're completely missing the thing's teeth, mate. Open your eyes." Seriously. It would make this teamwork thing less painful and prolonging for Milton. And it was all about him, so there.

The girl wanted to floss the teeth? That was fine with him. "Yeah, why don't you do it now? And show that kid that there's nothing to be scared off," he suggested, jabbing a finger at Oakey. Wimp.

"Here, let me hold the plant." Milton went to where Alyssa was standing and took the plant in his hands and held it open so Alyssa could start flossing the nasty thing.

Violet was now prepared to start with her fanged geranium. What was there to do? She grabbed the small toothbrush, put on her gloves and stared at the sharp teeth the plant in front of her had. My, they looked deadly. She opened the mouth of the plant gingerly to see the goop that was stuck in between its teeth. "Ewww. The remains of different insects and flies." Violet complained. She started to brush it's teeth carefully, letting all the leftover flies drip down on to her workplace. It was dirty work, but this was what herbology class was like. Dirty, yet fun.

"Oh! yeah thanks bro, I'll be just fine!" John said sarcastically as he chuckled. Was Kennedy really more worried about the plant? Nah.

John had a very determined yet mischievous look on his face. This was something he didn't expect doing in class...and it was fun! He tuned Kennedy out for a sec, 'I wonder what would happen if I stick my head inside its mouth? John thought to himself causing a small chuckle, as he shook his head. Yup, he looked a bit crazy but he was just going to town with project.

"Nah dude, this is so cool! flesh eating plants are like dangerous and I like danger!" Johnathan beamed as it was one of the reasons why, he had enlisted is navy.

He began flossing the plant when suddenly...Snap! The floss snapped in half. His eyes widened "Uh-oh" he said as he looked up at Kennedy and with his eyebrows raised he fessed up "I broke it". Maybe he should let the Prefect, give it a go on this dental cleaning.

"Why don't you give it a go, I'm too strong for the dental floss." John teased as he decided to let Ken, floss the teeth.

He looked back at the notes he had taken and was still pretty enthusiastic, for this lesson.

As Violet finished the too jaw of her fanged geranium, she thought that she felt her plant move. She froze on the spot, and didn't know what to do. Should she brush her plant's teeth faster or was the movement only her imagination? Violet wasn't sure, but she started to brush the teeth faster and more vigorously just in case the fanged geranium was starting to awake from the sedative. It wasn't like Violet didn't trust Professor Bentley, but just in case of some caution, Violet braced herself for anything that could happen to her or the plant. She didn't want either one to be hurt or she may get into deep trouble.

Oakey should have just fake fainted, Healer Tillstrom didn't sound so bad right about now.

He knew the plant was sedated, he gave Alyssa an annoyed look. It just looked so menacing, like it could wake up any moment now and someone would lose an arm. He wanted out of this class now, he looked to Professor Bentley. His face was still an awful pale color, maybe he could fake being sick. He rubbed his forehead to remove some sweat that was building up on him. Then he covered his arm and coughed.

He pushed the brush back into Ravenclaw's chest and stepped back for Alyssa to floss it. He could hear the tone that Milton had wasn't to happy with him. But Oakey didn't care about Milton or Alyssa right now, he was going to get out of this class no matter what.

Holding the toothbrush by the very end so as to keep her fingers as far away from the fangs as possible, Silvia began to brush. Starting with the lower back teeth, she scrubbed gently, trying not to miss a spot. It wasn't the most enjoyable activity, but at least Herbology classes were never quite boring. She made sure to brush along the gumline as well. Both inside and outside, until it seemed like she got most of the gunk off the first tooth.

Then she moved up to the next tooth and repeated the process, always glancing from time to time at the rest of the plant to see if there was any movement. Nothing so far; it seemed that the sedative was still working strong. Good, because of all injuries she could get here at Hogwarts, being bitten by a fanged plant was one she least wanted to risk, and that was coming from someone who could usually handle pain very well.

Adarian walked over to his own little Fanged Geranium, to be flesh eating it didn't seem that bad. The toothbrush and minty floss were laid out beside the sedated plant and he considered the twine. "Professor?" he raised his hand, "Sometimes when I floss I might dig too deep, how will I know I'm not hurting the plant since it is sedated and I won't be able to tell until it's too late and the plant is bleeding." he didn't want to cause accidental harm to the plant he was supposed to be helping, flesh eating or not. He made sure his gloves were secured before deciding to try the toothbrush first.

This girl was from her own house and she was prefect. Excellent. This was going to be easier then. Unless this girl was extremely stubborn or she had a thing on getting everything her way. She nodded at the girl as she spoke. "I'm..." she paused for a split second and then said something out "Just call me anything like El, Liz or Liesel." she introduced herself to the girl. Now it was work with these scary piranha plants. "Yes, that's a good idea." she said as she got a dry brush and started cleaning it teeth. The teeth sure needed a decent scrub.

She realized after brushing the piranha they would have to floss it. That didn't sound like much fun. Hopefully this procedure would work out well and quickly. She wanted to call the plant Mario or Dew for some strange reason but she wasn't going to say she was because that just seemed childish and she was fifteen not a five year old. She started brushing one of the teeth quite hard and in minutes it turned a whiter colour not yellow.

"Cool, thanks for letting me do that....and yes I'll try to convince Oakey that there's nothing to be scared of."Alyssa told Milton before turning to look at Oakey. She grabbed the roll of minty floss that the Professor given them to use for their plant. It was definitely way thicker than the one she used for her teeth. WAY THICKER!! Alyssa giggled. If she had a camera right now, she would ask Oakey to take a picture of her flossing the Piranha Plant's teeth.

She first twirled one end of the floss around the index of her right gloved hand and then pulled at least 2 feet length's worth before taking out her wand and saying "Diffindo" to cut the thread. She twirled that end around and around and around the index finger of her left gloved hand until there was at least 6 inches of floss hanging between her two fingers. Then Alyssa spread her hands apart, so that the floss became taut. before approaching the plant. She leaned forward, trying to hold her breath and she started with the plant's back teeth.

She stuck the thread in between the gap of the tooth and started pulling it back and forth, trying to remove any food that was lodged inside the gap. Once she was done working with the back tooth, she moved on to the one next to it, twirling the yucky portion of the used floss around her right index finger, while releasing at least another 6 inches of floss from her left index finger. She repeated the process again of pulling the floss back and forth in the gap between the teeth. She almost gagged when she saw pieces of raw meat dislodge from the tooth. She turned to see whether Oakey had seen that.

"Did you see that? The piece of meat that fell out when I flossed the tooth? I wonder what this Piranha plant just ate. Do you want to try flossing the plant's tooth or continue brushing it's teeth? You really don't have to be afraid of it you know." She tried to assure Oakey before leaning forward to whisper in his ear. "Oakey, do you mind telling me what happened that caused this fear of Flesh Eating Plants. I saw what happened last term when we had to work with the Snargalpuffs. You know that you can trust me."

Right. Professor Bentley said they didn't need toothpaste nor water nor anything to clean the plants teeth, just the toothbrush. That sounded even easier! Okay, okay! Sophie grabbed the toothbrush and stared at the sedated plant. It looked weird all... not moving. It seemed to be dead! That was horrible!

Still, better than being alive and chewing on her fingers.

Right. Let it seem dead then. She started brushing slowly each one of the plants teeth. That was SO weird! Was it even cleaning the teeth? She didn't feel like the teeths were getting cleaned just by that light brushing. Maybe she was doing it wrong?

She looked around at the other students and they were doing pretty much the same thing. Well, then that was right... she used her other hand to hold the plant a little more still and restarted brushing the plants' teeth carefully.

Was that a real question? Aspen wasn't particularly intimidated, but it was certainly a first time someone had ... was that a threat? It honestly boggled her and she wanted to ask more questions about HIS question, but as he was prone to do seemed, he starting YELLING again.

But this time not in English.

Hmmm. Aspen continued eying him like HE was the specimen to be studied, not the sleepy, sedated tooth plant that was waking.

Was it horrible that some small part of Aspen waited expectantly for the Piranha to latch onto Loud Threatening Slytherin Boy and take a chomp after West headbutted him? Even in the current setting, where her and West were probably about to get expelled and have to perpetually live with their Aunt Linda and their neanderthal cousins, it'd still be fascinating to watch someone get bitten.

Aspen didn't move to stop West, but she HAD noted Older Boy With Attitude with his wand earlier. If he even HINTED at using his wand on her little brother, Aspen was going to be on him. So much for blending in unnoticed during the rest of class....

Aspen reached for West to pull him UP and AWAY and towards her. And away from the plant. Admittedly, it'd be less interesting if he got bit. "Away from the plant, West."

His eyes glanced at the others carefully brushing away on the plants teeth. With toothbrush in hand he started on the right side gently polishing and removing a few remnants of dead flies and such. Adarian then maneuvered the toothbrush to the left side to do the same. He figured he could give the top and bottom a good brush, then floss, then perhaps brush once more in case the flossing removed some extra stuff.

One moment they had settled into the new location and Professor Bentley was explaining the assignment to the class and the next they were breaking off into pairs. Well at least the older students were. And Gideon felt like everything had suddenly sped up as everyone rushed to find a partner and he was left standing on the sidelines wondering what in the world was going on. Soon everyone seemed to be paired up and beginning the assignment including all of those he usually tended to head towards and even new aquaintances and he didn't see any free older kids around.

"Anyone still need a partner or willing to take on a third partner?" he asked aloud as he continued to look around. Great...just great this is embarishing. Hearing Professor Bentley's instructions he made his way over to the woman seriously hoping someone would come forward either before or after he reached the herbology professor's side.

"Okay then," Sierra said. "Liesel it is." She wasn't too big on nicknames. Not unless she knew the person a little more than she knew this girl. Maybe Liz would come naturally one of these days. "I'm Sierra, and I don't really any nicknames." Si and Si Bear, but only her mom and dad could get away with those. Especially Si Bear.

She watched the girl scrub away at a tooth then turned back to the tooth she'd been working on. "You know," she said, scrubbing a bit harder, "this is actually pretty disgusting. I'm not all that fond of helping a plant like this one take care of its teeth." She just bet that if the plant wasn't sedated, it'd come alive and try to eat them. A little while later, that tooth was clean, too.

"Eww," she mumbled, starting the scrubbing process on the second tooth. "...and then we have to floss, too." She made a face as she continued scrubbing.

Oakey just watched as Alyssa worked wonders on the Piranha Plant. Then he saw it, and his head began to spin just as a little piece of meat fell from the Plant's mouth. Not what Alyssa, WHO!Which unfortunate Hufflepuff was feed to this plant before Oakey attended Hogwarts, Ravenclaws cannot be trusted! He regained himself when Alyssa quietly asked what happened last term. It's a long story Lyss He found himself calling Alyssa by a nickname. So much for trying to fake being sick, Oakey truly did not feel to well. He was both terrified and disgusted by the Piranha Plant.

Yes, her partner definitely was about as comfortable dealing with the piranha plants as she was. Stella just hoped he wasn't going to faint or anything, because there was no way she was going to face the plant herself. Especially as for some reason, the plant he was standing near seemed bigger than the others. Not only that, but it was twitching. She just hoped that meant it was dreaming, not waking up, although she really didn't want to know what flesh-eating plants would dream about. Most likely eating all of us, she thought, watching the plant for another moment as if she expected it to suddenly lunge at them. At least the Slytherin had responded, although the word seemed way too excited for the situation in front of them.

"Of course," she replied, eyes going back to giant, twitching piranha plant. It seemed the little ones were naming the geraniums, but there was no way she was naming this plant. Not when she expected it to bite her hand off at any moment. "I think our supplies are right here," she added, tilting her head toward the brush and floss on the workstation. "I'm Stella, by the way. I guess we may as well introduce ourselves before we risk our lives. Malheureusement." She took a breath as she reached forward and picked up the giant toothbrush. "How do you want to split things up? One of us brushes, the other flosses? Or one person make sure the mouth stays open?" She really didn't want to do that.

Top set completed! Theodore repeated the flossing on the bottom set of teeth.

This was totally the weirdest thing he had ever done in a class. Cleaned a plant's teeth. His family would wonder what they had bred when he told them. They already thought he was a freak. Sad truths, yep.

SQUEAAAAAAAAKING.

Theo grinned as he flossed each tooth, then put all of his doolallys down, as well as his dragon hide gloves. "Finished, professor!" WOOT!

Oh, he could go!!!! Theodore gave his plant one more beam then skipped out of the greenhouse. First class was finished! It was weird, but super fun! He liked Herbology!

Silvia moved along the entire bottom row of fangs, cleaning them one by one as best as she could. She wished they did have plant toothpaste, so they could get rid of the smell. The more she brushed the fanged geranium without incident, the more comfortable she became; her fear that it might wake diminishing slightly. She finished the bottom row of fangs and moved on to the top, pausing occasionally to cast a scourgify on the dirtied toothbrush.

Suddenly she took a step back and watched the fanged geranium closely. She thought she had caught a movement out of the corner of her eye. The young Ravenclaw quickly scanned her eyes over the entire plant, but it was still. Slowly and carefully, holding the very end of the brush with just her thumb and forefinger, she reached out and touched the brush to one of the fangs. Nothing. It seemed it was a false alarm. It must have been her imagination, or maybe a bug or something. Whatever it was she had seen, it seemed she wasn't in any danger whatsoever. So she stepped back toward the flesh-eating plant and cautiously went back to work.

Violet was relieved that her plant had seemed to stop moving after a couple of minutes of brushing its teeth. Maybe it really was her imagination or maybe teeth brushing could be relaxing for the plant. After Violet was finished the top jaw, she moved onto the bottom jaw. It was a horrid mess of red raw meat and other black stuff, Violet couldn't identify. Violet stuck out her tongue in disgust.

She held her breath, and began to brush the goop off the teeth there as well.

Now..exhale...inhale. Violet choked on her saliva as she took in the smell of the plant's breath. It made her gag and she covered her mouth with her hands before breathing out again. It smelled of spoiled meat and acidic like chemicals from its saliva. Violet hoped that the minty floss would help get rid of the bad scent from the fanged geranium's mouth.

Blink. Blink. She listened to the professor tell them that they were going to actually floss and brush the teeth of flesh eating plants. The plants were fine from a distance, but she didn't want to have be involved with them in any way sedated or not. It would probably be her luck that the sedation didn't catch with her plant.

She sucked in air and blew it out. She was just going to have to deal with it. She was sure that the professor wouldn't care that she simply did not want to do this activity.

She made her way up to the fanged geranium station and grabbed a toothbrush and some minty floss. The smell of mint was strong at the station and she breathed deep. She loved the way mint smelled. She stalled for as long as she could. She opened up the mouth of the plant and gasped. It was not a pretty site and there was an odor coming from it. She had a feeling she was going to need more mint floss.

He sat down the toothbrush after pulling out a napkin from his robes to wipe it off, He scoffed at all the nastiness he had brushed off of the Geraniums fangs. Who knew such a little plant ate so much? Adarian then picked up the spool of minty floss and after measuring out a fair amount he cut the string with a quick "Diffindo" from his wand. He smiled at the magic he performed. Never would he tire of picking up his wonderful wand and using it. With the separate ends of the floss wrapped around his index fingers he glided the flavored string in between the fangs. Top row first. He was very careful to not hurt the plant but he got the area where the fang protruded from the gum pretty good, since that is were most of the plaque and other gross things resided. He started to hum a little tune to pass the time.
