Did...Professor Bentley really have to pat the plant so affectionately? Sure, Kurumi was partial to Xavier, but he was an exception since she had raised the Bloody Red Rose from a sapling. Sigh.

No matter, gloves on and pulled up nice and high, Kurumi grabbed her supplies and returned to her work station. Flossing a flesh eating plant wasn't all that bad, actually. At least not when she had to do so with Xavier. But he had taken a lichen liking to her.

Looking around for someone to work with, Kurumi spotted a slightly unfamiliar Ravenclaw and decided that it was no time like the present to make herself more available. "I'll partner with you, if you want."

Looking around after the professor spoke, Isaac gulped as he glanced at the piranha plant. Why was it that the first class had to be one of the more scary plants. Well...at least they were to be in pairs. That was one good thing, but how was it that he was never able to see anyone he knew in the classes when they needed to pair up???

"Anyone need a partner?" he asked hopefully.

Sierra eyed the piranha plants. Was she scared? Nah. Not when they were sedated, and not when she knew a variety of spells to knock them out again if they did come alive. She was eyeing the plants, though, because their teeth looked a disgusting shade of yellow. Eww. When did the students become so unfortunate that they were the ones assigned this job? Ughh.

...and now she needed a partner. "Do any fourth to seventh years need a partner?" she asked.

Penny whirled as a slightly older student came and offered to partner with her. She couldn't hide her relief even if she had wanted to. "Thanks. I'm Penny." Penny held out her gloved hand though it was a coin toss as to whether the girl would shake it. Back home that was how you introduced yourself and that apparently wasn't the custom here.

It was a really cool plant! It was really scary though and she definitely did not want the honors of flossing it. Wait. Flossing it? Did a plant need flossing> She cold understand the brushing bit but not the flossing bit. Maybe the awesomeness of the plant could shock off on how scary it was? She also needed a partner. Cool! That meant they could do it maybe.

"Do you want to partner up?" she asked a girl who had just called out something.

Zhenya was glad to hear Professor Bentley was so at ease with the fact she had been bitten by these things. If she started to look worried, then Zhenya would have ran off back to the common room. But she was safe!

She was glad to hear they were working individually, she didn't care very much for group work. Well, it was more looking for a group to get into that was her problem, but luckily she didn't need to worry about it. She wrote down some of what Bentley was saying so that she didn't go and forget everything, and get her finger bitten or anything. Hopefully her little Geranium would stay sleepy so that she didn't get worried with imminent biting!

She walked over to the first to third year work station and chose her pink flower. It looked innocent enough... on..only with teeth. BUT WHEN SHE LOOKED over at the fourt to sevent year stations she could have died! A small "OHH" left her mouth as she looked at them in utter horrow.

Quickly pulling on her dragon hide gloves, Emmanuelle took a quick mental note of everything the professor had said. Don't let plants die, have your wand handy just in case, plants are sedated and if one wakes up, call out for professor's help. She thought caught all that. Walking over to one of the piranha plant stations, Emmanuelle cringed slightly at the visable teeth. The very sharp looking teeth. And hadn't she heard of this type of plant killing people before? Yikes.

Deciding that the quicker that she got this done the better, she called out for a partner. "Hello, sixth year needing someone to team up with!" Pointing at herself so that people would know she was talking about her.

As the professor walked in front of the students and showed them the plants that they were going to brush, Violet gasped in fear. The plants looked quite scary even though they were said to be sedated and would not hurt her. Violet whimpered to herself as she got up from her place and grabbed one of the fanged geraniums from the table. Up close, they looked even more grotesque to Violet as she made her way back to work area.

Maybe I'll get used to this." Violet thought.

As Violet examined the geranium's teeth, they really did look quite filthy. She looked at the plant more and more and came to realize that plants could actually be a pet you can take care and love. She took one of her gloved hands out and patted it gently on its head. It felt weird, but at least it didn't bite her back. She went back to the front of the class and grabbed the small toothbrush and minty floss to get to work and brush those teeth sparkling clean.

Alyssa sighed. 'Great another assignment requiring a partner. I do hope someone will be willing to partner with me.' she thought to herself before calling out.

"Is there a 4th to 7th year who will partner with me? Partner anybody?"


Alyssa turned around when someone called out for a partner. "I'm looking for a partner too but I'm not a 6th year. Will you still accept me instead?

Smiling, and feeling a little relieved that the younger girl didn't go all wide eyed at the sight of the badge on her robes, Kurumi bowed her head politely to the Ravenclaw. "Nice to meet you Penny, I'm Kurumi." This would have been the time for a handshake, but such manners were forgotten to the sixth year at the moment. She wasn't raised to do so, hence why she had bowed slightly instead.

Picking up the rather large tooth brush, Kurumi ran her fingers over the bristles to make sure that they were not dull and, seeing that it was in perfect condition, returned her attention to the Ravenclaw. "So...do you want to be the one to brush our plant, or would you rather distract and hold its mouth open?" Gently, of course. Massaging its nose area - or where the nose would be - usually helped.

Amelia didn't like the look of the next tooth. It had a stringy-thing attached to it that looked like green plant bit. Oh he'd been attacked or defended himself. Yes she was giving her plant a gender.

"I am going to call you Chester - is that alright?" She asked, the plant wouldn't answer of course. Right? But talking to plants was zany as ever. Taking the tooth brush again she began to brush in a circular motion - the green string began to dislodge itself.

Began being the operative word. It was stuck. She knew what she had to do was to floss the little bugger out of there - and she would after she brushed ever single tooth first.

Oookkkaayyy.....yet another person who didn't do hand shakes but it was alright because the bow explained everything. Grinning Penny lowered her hand and rubbed it on her leg. Well now that the pleasantries were over they could get down to business.

Penny watched as she picked up a brush and examined it. She caught the glare from an object on her robes and her grey eyes widen slightly. Kurumi was a Prefect...wonderful. Why had she not noticed that?! Well, that wasn't something she needed to focus on right now. As if to accentuate the point Kurumi asked Penny a question and the Ravvie shrugged.

"I can hold the mouth open. The Professor said they were sedated so it shouldn't be that hard."

Famous. Last. Words.

Penny chuckled at herself while she readjusted her gloves. With a ginger touch she grabbed the mouth of the Piranha plant and opened it wide. It's breath was awful! Wrinkling her nose she looked at Kurumi.

"Try not to breath too deep."

It made Angelina more confident about the fanged geraniums from the Professor. She made it very clear they wouldn't get hurt, and oh Angelina was happy to hear confident out of that! Also it made her glade that she didn't have to rely on another. Partnership in projects seemed to bug her. Having to wait on people and it can affect her grade and what not.

Angelina walked over to a fanged geraniums plant that was available to her. Having her gloves on good and make sure she had everything, she looked over the plant. This plant looked scary, but luckily Professor said all was good.

Taking the tooth brush she looked at the fanged geraniums determining where to start. Giving up she thought she would just brush it's teeth like she brushed her own. So she started from the back.

Johnathan took a couple of notes, since he was most likely going to forget what she said in five minutes...tops.

He heard to word 'partner' and looked over to his friend Kennedy. "Howdy partner!" John teased and chuckled as he looked at Kennedy.

Yup, he was taken now.

Zhenya felt like she needed to give her pretty and vicious plant a name... what should she call it? She called it Sid!

She picked up her things and looked at them before deciding what to do first.
Were they supposed to use Toothpaste?

Zhenya spun around and put her hand up and said "Professor? Are we supposed to use toothpaste, or can't they have it?" she asked. Maybe they had some condition or something that meant they couldn't use toothpaste. Sometimes Zhenya's toothpaste burned her mouth if it was tooooooo minty!

She took a long piece of the twine and smelt it. It smelled good but she was scared it would hurt her little Sid. What if she hurt his gums or something? Then he would get a cut and then he would be sore. Well, she was sure it would be able to tolerate the flossing if Bentley had instructed them to do things. She sure knew her stuff!

Stella really didn't care if the plants were sedated. She just did not want to brush and floss flesh-eating plant teeth, no matter how much it would be a distraction from her non-class-related thoughts. Honestly, she'd rather go back to fighting against pixies, back to keeping Vickers from being strangled by a snargaluff after retrieving a pod from the plant. She'd rather do literally anything other than get anywhere near the teeth of, well, it appeared a piranha plant. She widened her eyes even as Professor Bentley actually petted one, like it was her sister's dog. There are just so many things wrong with this, she thought, glancing onc e at the workstation nearest to her before turning her brown eyes to the others around her. Apparently the younger students weren't having issues dealing with brushing the teeth of fanged geraniums. She didn't blame them. Those were actually kind of cute, or at least they didn't look like they could tear her arm off if so inclined.

But she needed to pair up, get this cleaning over with. She was determined enough to actually go through with it, no matter how much she would rather not. Just because seh no longer had her unofficial house points competitor/boyfriend at the school didn't mean she wanted to let points slip through her fingers. Plus, there was the matter of making up for that little firstie who had lost them points at the beginning of the lesson. She was about to speak up to say she needed a partner, and then heard a voice come from nearby. A voice that it seemed was almost lost in the noise of younger students starting to work, and other upperclassmen calling out that they needed partners, or pairing up.

Seeing the Slytherin standing alone, she walked over. He looked about as comfortable with the assignment as she did, so she put what she hoped was a reassuring smile onher face before speaking. "I'll work with you if you like," she said. Hopefully she didn't sound as nervous as she felt, although she couldn't help but turn another wide-eyed look toward the nearest piranha plant. She half expected it to say 'Feed me.' Thankfully, it didn't. It just sort of sat there, so she returned her attention to, hopefully, her partner.

Oh! She would be working with a Geraniums plant! Phew! Sophie started to cheer up a bit more. That was an alright flesh eating plant. Sophie wasn't afraid of it. And professor Bentley said they were sedated, so it would be even easier!

A smile made its way back to Sophie's face as she moved her fingers, getting ready to work!

Weird thing they would be brushing the plants teeth. Sophie never thought one should do that! That should be interesting. She hoped it would be in a good way.

Falalalalalala! Sophie started humming as she prepared her little work station. Toothbrush... floss... Fanged Geraniums. There! Everything that she needed! Her wand was safe in her pocket again, as she didn't think she would need it for now.

She looked around to see how other students were starting. Should they use some kind of toothpaste or what? Or just water? Or none? Since someone had alreay asked that queston, Sophie decided to wait and see what professor Bentley's answer would be.

Ohlookitthat! Now that, was the sort of attitude she appreciated. She gave his gloves a quick squirt.
Though his request to spray other peoples gloves, was one she didn't expect... but who was she to deny him?
"I see no reason why not," she said handing him the bottle, "mind you don't take too much time doing so."
They still had an activity to tend to.

Toothpaste? Did plants have toothpaste in the wild?... no... so therefore, not necessary.
"Just a dry brush, no toothpaste required."

This could not be happening. Theodore's eyes were wide as he watched the flesh eating plants. SEDATED OR NOT, they still ate flesh. Totally not appropriate for lessons. Nope. He eyes the toothbrush and floss that were provided, and made a little whine.

Truthfully, the fanged geraniums weren't too huge and scary, but he still didn't fancy turning into Mr. Dentist on them.

Sighing, he approached a station, picked up the toothbrush and VERY slowly nipped one of the front teeth, then flinched backwards.

"Brilliant," Kurumi said with a cheerful smile, trying to just ooze the Gryffindor courage that people from her house were supposed to have. Just ignore that the sixth year had been feeling anything but confident over the past few days. It had taken everything out of her to get out of bed and into her robes. If it hadn't been for Selina, well, chances were the Kurumi wouldn't even have been eating.

NOT that any of this was important right now, and Kurumi turned her attention back to the toothbrush in her hands. Alright, so she would be brushing. This shouldn't be too bad, especially since the plant appeared to be rather docile at the moment.

Or maybe it could be. Merlin that was AWFUL. "I-I-I guess he hasn't had his teeth brushed in a-a-a-awhile..." Or...he just had terrible morning breath. Plugging her nose with one hand, Kurumi began to run the brush over its fangs, making sure to be a little extra gentle around the gums.

Aurora's eyes lit up. PIRAHNA PLANTS!! YES! She stood by an empty work station and looked around the class. "Anyone need a partner!" she said loudly wanting to reach out and tickle the plant. It was so CUTE!! Instead she just moved a teeny bit closer. "Hello cutie. I'm gonna clean your teeth!" she said to it. Gahhh she wanted one!!!!

Mika glanced over to her neighbor and just gave him an awkward smile. Putting down the tooth brush for a moment she leaned over towards Theodore.

"I was nervous too" she admitted sheepishly. Then with a bright smile added, "but now i'm determined my ltitle guy will have the cleanest teeth...I call him Chester...or her. I don't know what it's gender his" not yet that is. This was her first class involving plants and yeah it was cool.

AMAZING really.

Picking the tooth brush up once more she moved onto the other blossom's teeth. It looked so much cleaner - the plant bits and flesh chunks were being wiped away and Chester's razor sharp plant teeth were being revealed.

She could live with one of these.

"Can we adopt them - later i mean...after their teeth are cleaned?" She asked looking up to Professor Bentley - the sleepy plant was dosil enough for her. Maybe it could be trained not to bite her...after all she'd feed it.

Okay. That was one tooth fully brushed to his satisfaction. Theodore continued to use the same movements on two other teeth but at the same time. Yess, he had this down. Until someone tried to distract him. It was Mika? Yes, that was her name.

"I'm not nervous." He stated. He was, but she wasn't allowed to know that. Chester?! Theodore just raised an eyebrow at her.

Moving onto the next tooth, Theo was very happy with his progress. He heard the girl's question to the professor.

"Whaaaaaaaat? You jokin'?" Hell no.

If that was their homework, Theodore would be taking the next train home. Probably not, but he would be scared.

Kennedy had been distracted with balancing his glasses on the bridge of his nose perfectly. He wanted to be prepared for when it was time to do whatever they were going to do. So, when someone spoke his name he looked up, his head turning from side to side.

His green eyes landed on an innocent looking girl. He remembered her. How could he not when he almost attacked her for educational purposes last term. He also remembered Sierra calling her Aspen, so he would go with that. But what if that wasn't her name? It'd be rude, but then it would also be rude if he referred to her as a 'hey'.

He would go with the first. "Hey, Aspen," he greeted. As soon as he greeted her Professor Bentley spoke and his attention was back on her, but before that he sent the Ravenclaw a nod and grin.

Kennedy couldn't believe it. He wasn't even in the mood to admire Professor Bentley's eyes teaching skills. Instead of settling on unwanted thoughts he began to scribble down notes at a fast pace. Then his eyes went wide with excitement. They were going to work with piranha plants.

Cool.

This time he didn't have to worry about partner. John had already claimed him. Kennedy chuckled at his friend's comment. Really, John, really? "All you need is a cowboy hat," he said. The prefect rummaged through the supplies they had at their work area and set them all out in front of them. "Ready?" he asked.

PIRANHA PLANTS?!
