Ducks, fifteen in all and quite possibly already named, live in this pond. Go on, take a seat on the rocky ledge and dip your feet into the water! Rest assured, these ducks will not bite, but if you just so happen to have any type of bread or cookies on you at the time, the ducks have been known to take without asking.
Waylon keeps a good eye on the pond and the ducks, so no funny business.
Minerva let her frustrations go when Taylor got up and left. She turned "Ahhhh" letting out a scream and kicking the tree. "Ouch" she said in a low voice and walked away from Maxwell and Damon. For once Maxwell was being the mature one. She couldn't believe how childish they were acting. Her brother would have acted more mature if he was still here. She walked close to the pond and started tossing rocks into it, making sure she wasn't going to hit any ducks.

Minerva threw another rock as hard as she could then looked at him. She wanted to scream NO, NO I'M NOT ALRIGHT.. You to have not worked out your feelings for each other and Maxwell and I have to just sit there and take it, but she didn't she just shook her head. "No, I'm not. I don't like to see you two fighting. You were best friends and I know you can be again. This is stupid to ruin a friendship over."
Damon flinched sensing the anger that lurked under her surface, "I'm sorry... I told you me telling her would ruin everything..." He sighed ruffling his hair, "I was being stupid in telling her. I know that now apparently it was something she can't really understand or something..."

Minerva looked at him and then fell into him with a hug. She hated seeing everyone so sad. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get so upset. I just don't like seeing Taylor, but more importantly you in pain and I still see the pain in both of you. Your not mad at each other, even if you make it out to be that way. Your both hurt, sad, and confused. That's what I see." she was afraid to bring that up, afraid that she might push people away by being so honest. "I just wish things could be friendly again."

Jordan was taking a walk in the nature part of Hogwarts when he stumbled upon the Duck Pond, as if such a thing existed. He wondered around slowly, examining trees, plants, the pond, like he had never seen this place of Hogwarts before. Then he noticed a red-haired Hogwarts student sitting on a rock near all the ducks, while she was getting excited for the ducks apparently. Jordan went over to see why she seemed so, into these ducks. "Hello there, duck expert." Jordan said sarcastically.

I need to learn how to control my anger with this..." He sighed, "So it's not something you need to be sorry for."

Minerva was still hugging him. She breathed in deep trying to focus more on what she should say instead of how she was feeling. "Ash, I lost my cool and that wasn't nice. I know this is a bad situation and I don't want to make it worse. I just wish she would have said yes, then this wouldn't be so awkward between you." yes she said it, she didn't want to say it, but she did. It's what they all were thinking, she just said it.

Oh how Ronnie loved ducks, and their cute little quacking. Quack quack quack! She wondered if she tried quacking, it'd get the ducks attention. She cleared her throat and was about to quack when suddenly-
JORDAAAN!
Ronnie turned around at the familiar voice. A smirk played across her face. "Well hello there, Jordan." she replied with a laugh. She patted the spot next to her. "What brings you out to the duck pond?" she asked.
Minerva smiled "well it's all true." she laughed and looked at Butterfly "Sometimes I swear he doesn't see what we all see. Yes you are an easy target, but it's just for fun. We all know what a great guy you really are."
Minerva was headed to the pond to see all her friends and Damon when she got closer she heard them arguing, all her hope disappeared. She glared at them and came around where they can see her "ENOUGH" she growled a bit. "This is ridiculous." she looked at Maxwell hoping he was ready. "Maxwell and I have been talking and we both feel that you two need to just stop. We are all friends and you two can still be friends if you would just let it go." she knew Damon was still hurt and still loved Taylor, even if she was hoping it would change, but they could at least try to be friend, couldn't they.
This school was getting better and better everywhere Anna went! She had a cat, she'd met someone with a bunny, and now there were ducks! It was getting right up there with Beauxbatons in its level of brilliance. The ducks just gave it like, a hundred points.
Anna crouched down on the ground, a safe ways away from the ducks considering she was holding a curious kitten. And Milly didn't need any ducks for dinner. But she could watch them, and hear them as they quacked.

Yes. She was definitely liking it here.
Ducks.
Disgusting, vile creatures that enjoyed pooping on land as well in the water. What kind of thing did that except underage, annoying children?!
Will stared at them for a long hard moment, annalyzing their...quackness. A small kitten poped it's head out of his school bag, it's bright blue eyes poping out of it's coal black face. It meowed loudly, make Will roll his eyes. Why did he get a cat again? Wasn't like it would be overly useful except for keeping his feet and lap warm on winter nights. But he could of gotten a dog for that too...sigh.
BAM!
Right then Will went tripping over the spread out legs of some person who decided to make camp and call it home right where he was walking! Obviously they would see he was walking here right? Really, some people these days!
Coming back to his senses, he straightened up from his now sprawled state and plucked a now irratated Nickel off of his head, wondering how in the world the kitten got from his bag to his head. Turning to look at who was the idiot that had tripped him, he almost let out a groan. It was Tomatoface.
...Great.

Damon shook his head holding her, "No, no, no... Minnie... I'm happy, even though she said no. I'm with you, and that's better for everyone." He nodded, "And I'd rather be with you. This is causing less drama then what would've been caused had she said yes."

Minerva didn't want to look up at him. She knew she was to upset and it showed in her face. "If she said yes, the only drama would be from Maxwell and I would have handled him fine. Don't get me wrong Ash, I'm super happy we are together. I really couldn't have wanted anything else lately, but I see it in your eyes, what I was exactly afraid of at the beginning. The hurt, you still being upset, and seeing you two fight like that it's just a bit much." She finally looked up at him trying to hide the emotion in her face. "Are you sure you made the right decision, really sure?" she was afraid of what he was going to say. What if he did say no, that he jumped in to soon.. Then she would have to just deal with it.

Damon looked at her for a second, thinking about it. Yes he liked Min... but Taylor and him were just putting on an act, that was so Maxwell wouldn't put major restrictions on their friendship. Taylor had admitted that she did have feelings for him; but both had agreed, they would not be together yet. He looked at her again, looking as sincere as he could, "I promise you, I want to be with you Minnie; and I'm positive that this is the right choice."

A weird, squeak-like scream came from Anna's mouth when something ran into her. Milly tried to scramble away, and Anna caught the poor cat by her tail and pulled her back into her, clutching her safely against her chest. She was tiny - she would probably get stepped on if she went loose in the castle.
So Anna held Milly close to her as she straightened her skirt one-handed. Then she finally looked up to see who it was that had caused so much trouble in so little time.
...Him.
"Merlin's pajamas! William!" She gasped, her face instantly flushing. "I-I mean Will!" Will, right? That's what he wanted to be called? "Wh-what are you doing here?"

Minerva looked at him. She still wasn't sure he was being completely honest, but she didn't care anymore. She liked him, she liked him a lot and decided against her best judgment, that she was going to make this work no matter what. She reached up and put her hand on the side of his face and gave a weak smile. She step on her tiptoes and kissed him. Then she pulled back and smiled, "Did you say something about needed to get your cat out? We could go hand in the common room if you would like. Then we can relax and he can get out of the cage for some exercise. What do you think?" The common room seemed to be the only place she felt didn't have memories of the drama and she welcomed that comfort every time she walked through that picture.
"He's cool." West obligingly inspected the beetle. He totally approved. Beetles were pretty cool. Not as awesome as Lizards but still cool.
"Kaid?" That worked, right? It was still part of his name after all and that was the best kind of nickname since it wasn't mean like strawberry.
"You DO?" West sounded intrigued. "We should MAKE one! And get marshmallows and then roast them!"
He nodded nodded nodded at the first year. and crazy part, but now he was more focused on campfires and beetles.
West Odessa had his priorities.
Kaiden watched as the beetle climbed up his arm. "Yeah, I think I'm gonna keep him." He just needed somewhere to keep it in.
"Kaid? Sounds good to me, Odessa" See, he could do nicknames too. Though, he thought it was just a bit strange to hear, and would take some time getting used to.
"Yeah, sure its easy. All you need is this," he said, pulling out his firestarter. "Well, and the right tinder, and some wood to burn" They could make a fire, it would be fun, and Odessa's mention of marshmallows made him think of s'mores. They just had to get all the things together. "We could, we just need to get the wood, food and a bucket of water."

"Yeah, Grim's been stuck in his cage all day, I'm sure he'd like to get out and go explore a little bit. And as for going back to the commonroom... for once that actually sounds great."

Minerva smiled happy he wanted to go back to the common room. She wanted nothing more to get rid of her robes and just sit and relax. Being with him, helped as well. She took his hand and kissed his cheek, "Okay, but promise me if I bring bouncers down he's not going to be a snack." she laughed a bit, knowing that she could trust the cat....hopefully. "I think I might have some snacks in my trunk still that I could grab as well. I don't have as much as I have in past terms, because mom always made sure my trunk was full and since Leelee isn't a fan of my muggle foods she didn't help me pack my trunk full." she had already started walking towards the castle and was ready to be in the common room.

"What will you call him?" He needed a NAME. If it was a he. "You should find out if its a boy beetle or a girl beetle. Do you know how to tell?" West didn't, not with that kind of beetle at least. MAYBE the COMC professor might know? "You could give it a name that doesn't matter whether its a boy beetle or a girl beetle."
Yeah! That was his name! Even if it was longer than his first name. It was cool cos it was his dad's name and his sister's name. West held his hand up for a high five.
"Wow. I haven't seen one of them before. My dad just uses his wand." West eyed it with interest. Wait. "What's the water for? Are we gonna make soup?"

Her reply.. 'I agree'... Something about the way she hesitated made him uncomfortable. Why would she.. Oh! "I mean, not that your hair clashes!" he said, back peddling. "I just meant, you know... Mine looks terrible, and yours is fine. No, it's beautiful! I mean, great! Yeah, it's perfectly okay.." Well yes, that entire speech had been a disaster. "Er, I think I'm just going to shut up now.." he trailed off.
Then he had to go and bring up a sad subject. She probably missed Sweden a lot. Her response confirmed this suspicion. "Well, it's not as if you'll never go back, at least. So that's a bonus." And she had just said Hogwarts wasn't half bad. But did that mean it was MORE bad than half? He certainly hoped not.
WE.. we should go sometime? Is that.. an invitation? The thought made him feel curiously triumphant inside, like a cat finally catching its prey. Unless she's just being polite. The inflating bubble inside his chest popped. "Well, anytime you want to go, I'm game." Which made sense, coming from the Captain. "I'm glad you got to see Toddles. But no, it's just the elves in the kitchens as far as I know." Which, truthfully, wasn't far, since he wasn't there much during 'normal' times.
Fortunately she didn't press him to explain himself about his distraction comment. His heart was beating uncomfortably fast and he seemed to be tongue-tied at the moment. She had clearly seen through his abrupt change in topic. Not much gets past her, he thought, grinning ruefully. "And yes, it's a compliment. Although it's coming from someone who is clearly socially inept, so you probably can't take it very seriously. I don't have too many girl friends."
Words seemed to tumble out of his mouth without him thinking first. He found her strangely easy to talk to, a trait he had never encountered with anyone of the opposite gender. Which is probably why I don't have too many girl.. friends. Crap. "I didn't mean GIRLFRIEND girl friends. I would never have more than one at a time! I mean, not that I have one AT ALL." From bad to worse.
"Well, you've managed to discover I am completely socially awkward, have practically no female friends, and am single. And that only took you.." He glanced at his watch. "..a grand total of six minutes. You're amazing." Which was wholly true, though he barely knew Kate.
Kate diverted her gaze from him for a moment. Her hair wasn't suited for the color yellow, she knew this, so for him to say otherwise was both unexpected and strange. But then he was complimenting her again, or rather her hair, but it was almost the same. Her blue eyes were on his, and she doubted that was a safe thing to do considering he was having problems voicing out his thoughts. Or rearranging them.
Then he made her feel terrible, "No, you shouldn't stop," talking, that's what she meant, "I mean, thank you," she smiled, sweetly this time as her cheeks held some rosy color. And no, it wasn't the heat.
That...was not what she meant, actually, because Hogwarts was growing on her too quickly, and so were the people in here. "Oh, I know, it's nice to have options, no?" for everything in life. Whether it'd be career choices or living quarters. There was one little thing in which having 'options' could bring unwanted trouble. And drama.
For a moment there she found herself wishing they could get that cup of hot chocolate right now, but if it was his company what she wanted more than that cup, then she'd stay here. "I'll make sure to find you, then," she kept her promises, so the first time she was feeling like taking a trip to the kitchens, she'll find him, wake him up, or whatever. He was going with her. His other statements got a nod as her face held that same smile. He knew so much, probably been here from year one.
Not even the ducks could distract her right now, though she'd been feeding them with the piece of bread without noticing. However, his hair did distract her for a moment as the sun gave way to the orange bits in it. THEN it happened.
Socially inept? Instant frown.
She didn't make an effort to try and conceal it. He didn't strike her as someone who'd be socially inept. And his lack of female friends couldn't be blamed for that. Boys tended to get along better with other boys, and make quicker friendships. The fact that she didn't know where this was coming from didn't help. It didn't help because it meant... she didn't have to accept his compliment?
He did it again.
Right when she was about to comment... he spoke. Faster and slightly more awkward than before, and all she did was smile. The 'GIRLFRIEND girl friends' part she didn't see coming at all, because she understood what he meant from the start. So, the smile was definitely necessary, this amused her. And now she knew far more about him than he probably wanted her to know. Her silence probably wasn't much help at all, but he hardly gave her the time to interrupt him.
By the time he said she was amazing, her cheeks were already that same rosy pink as before, only her eyes seemed to be less blue and more gray as she smiled at him and then readied herself for a...small speech. "Keefer? I don't think you're socially awkward... you just speak too much, not that I'm complaining or anything," it was cute, and amusing, and it made her smile, how could something like that be wrong? "And I haven't discovered those things, you just stated them," she nodded, her hair giving off silvery sparks that she couldn't see, yet she hoped it didn't become a distraction, "I am amazing, though, so thanks for that," her tone sweet and calm didn't match his former one at all, she was suddenly afraid she'd say the wrong things that could drive him away into that nervous state he'd been. As long as she kept talking she'll have his full attention, no?
It seemed she'd fed all the bread in her hand, because she found it without a crumb. She still had more to say, only she took his hand for this, or place hers on top of his, rather. "Yet you seem to be at a small disadvantage as I know more things about you than you do about me," would it help if it got a little balanced? "I have as many female friends as male ones, back in Sweden, at least," she didn't comment on the 'socially awkward' part for a reason, "I... I'm also single," that was some unnecessary information to share, but the disadvantage had to disappear, "My favorite color is orange," this was vital information for the next statement, "And so I like your hair, because when the sun touches it...," and her hand too, considering it had moved from his hand to his hair and brushed a strand of it that lay on his forehead, "...bits of orange flashes at me." Now they were even.
Christopher headed down to the Duck Pond, hoping for a quiet place to read. Yes, normally one would go to the library to read, but the library was crowded, and who ever went to the duck pond anyway? Nobody ever, that's who. So when he saw the silhouette of a girl standing there, he was very surprised. Wondering what sort of a person would actually spend their time investigating the boring Muggle creatures, the sixteen year old walked over to get a closer look. And when he saw who it was, he wasn't the least surprised. There stood the one and only Cassandra Prewett, cradling her hand and scowling that famous scowl at the ducks.
"You know, you should probably be a little more careful next time you try to feed an animal. Probably by not sticking your hand in its mouth," he teased, observing the scene with a chuckle. Only Cass.
Still cradling her aching hand, Cass looked up at the sound of shoes crunching against the small rocks that were embedded on the ground. If whoever that was even dared laugh at her, she would hex him into the pond. Swear.
Stick her hand in? STICK HER HAND IN?? DID SHE HONESTLY LOOKED THAT STUPID?
The blonde whipped around to glare at the chuckling Gryffindor and poked her tongue out childishly at him "For your information, I did not stick my hand in. It grabbed my bread and bit me!" She said with another glare directed towards the ducks - at his point she really couldn't tell anymore which one was the one that bit her. They all looked the same to her.
"You're lucky I'm in a good mood." She teased "or else I would have pushed you into the pond for even saying that"
