After having given this Gwen a handshake, the young Dixon beamed at her kite. It was almost complete. All the decorating was done, now all she had to do was place the sticks in the right places and then she’d hopefully done with the making process.

Interesting. Black and white that would look rather simple, but wasn’t simple good. Maybe this girl preffered complicated over simple, that could have been why she didn’t like that idea too much."Personally, I think the simpler the better, but it’s up to you. " she nodded at Gwen."If you want to add some blue then you should." Yep, It was Gwen’s choice after all not hers.

The Hufflepuff pouted just a little as Gwen asked her about her kite. She was almost done anyways so she had no problem with answering the question. "I Think I’m going to just leave it like this." She said showing the girl her kite. It was still missing the sticks though.

Now pouting even more, Nessie looked back at her kite. How were you supposed to place these sticks on the kite? Was there like some pattern or something. Trying not to be shy, Ness looked back at Gwen. "Erm, do you know how to put these on?" she asked holding two sticks in her hand.

"Your welcome," Janice smiled. "Yeah! Did you watch it?? I was somewhere in the stands," she said happily. And then there comes the question everybody asked. "I--uh, don't really know..." Pause. "Things get, err, complicated, I guess. Not that I don't like flying, I love it, don't get me wrong, but I guess that I just didn't have time to do those stuff anymore..." Her voice trailed until it came to a period of silence. "When they were holding the trials, at least."

"Mine is also done," she replied. She held up her kite against the sun and saw how translucent it is. She tried poking it to see what happened, but nothing did. Her kite was thin, light, but strong. Just right. "So I guess it's time to fly the kites?"

Jory nodded. "Yup, I was too!'' he said "Wasn't the team just brilliant?'' He looked at Janice. ''Maybe she had another reason but didn't want to tell anyone,'' he thought. "Okay, but maybe you'll try out next year?''

The boy also held up his kite. "Yup. Shall we get going then?'' he asked, excited to fly his kite.

Before getting back to her kite, the fourth year eyed the other one which lay on the table. The kite which belonged to the Hufflepuff. ‘Looks great’, she observed, giving a small nod. After having listened to Nessie talk, the fourth year drew her attention back to her kite, trying to decide which pattern to use. A moment of silence followed, during which the girl tried to decide what her kite should look like. She seemed to be a bit frustrated that she couldn’t just pick one of the many ideas she had, until... beam! Another idea crossed her mind, and this one was better than anything she had thought of before.

She had been working with different shades of blue, and in the end the kite looked sort of Ravenclaw-ish. In a more artistic way. Gwen examined her work, and then placed the kite back on the table as she heard the other girl say something.

Hmmm.

Did she have any idea how to put the sticks on the kite?

No.

Not at all.

‘How hard can it be?’, Gwendolyn mused as she grabbed the sticks which lay on the table, trying to figure out how to put them on the kite. Perhaps they needed to be glued? The fourth year twirled the kite sticks in her hands, and, only after a while looked at what was going on around them. Perhaps someone had already assembled the kite? Gwen glimpsed back at the sticks and at her kite, and continued twisting and turning them slowly, examining the objects and thinking of the possibilities of assembling the kite. She was a Ravenclaw.

She could TOTALLY figure this out!

How in Merlin’s beard am I supposed to assemble the kite?!

Or not...

Gwendolyn eyed the objects, and, after a moment of silence, she finally came up with an idea. ‘Got it’, she announced and started working on her kite. Well, she would have offered to help Nessie, but if she did something stupid, then wouldn’t it be better to ruin her kite? No, that obviously wasn’t better, but Gwen didn’t feel like being mean again. ‘So... Sort of like... this’, she motioned towards her kite, which seemed to be almost done. Hah. I knew I could do it, the fourth year told herself. ‘Do you need help with your kite?’, she finally asked, as she noticed that kite was not falling apart. There. Her kite was done.

Anya smiled. "There's nothing to be nervous about Blakey. We've done this a million times. We're pros." Kite flying was what they did. It was their thing. No reason to be nervous.

Unless, Alec was lying. In which case, shame on him! You don't lie to your best friend!

She tilted her head a little as she surveyed him. What kind of question was that? "Alec. You're my best friend. I'm okay with you. I'm always okay with you. Even if you're acting all weird for no reason." Which, he was. Right now. "I'm still me. Okay. Despite what happened."

She nodded as Alec set the frame down. She then, with the speed and precision of someone who had done it many times before, attached the fabric to the frame. "There." She then grabbed a black strip that she sat aside and tied a long tail on the bottom of the vertical frame stick.

"Tying the string is the last bit." she said with a smile handing the near complete kite to Alec to finish up.

She then looked at her finger. "Yeah. I'm fine. The owl just nicked me. He didn't draw any blood or anything." It just surprised her.

Aww! Yay! This girl liked her kite. That made Ness grin, though to be honest the fourth year herself wasn't too fond of her kite. She felt it needed a little something. Maybe glitter. Ooooh that would be pretty. She would add that soon, she just wanted to try figure out the sticks first.

The Hufflpeuff watched as the girl beside her began figuring out how the sticks worked. She looked confused too and Ness was beginning to become just a little impatient, but she didn't express it in any way that would have been really rude and unhufflepufflike of her. Instead she took some glitter and sprinkled it all over her kite. It looked much better now and all sparkly it was really gorgeous.

When she was done with the glitter, the Ravenclaw beside her still seemed to be at work. Renesmee's lips formed their usual pout and she looked at the sticks again wondering if she herself could maybe figure it out. Ness placed the sticks in a few different ways.

Naaa..that didn't look stable enough.

Before Ness could think of any more suggestions, she heard the Ravenclaw speak up again. Had she gotten it? It sure seemed like it. Sort of like what? Nessie was still confused and she she wasn't too sure as to what she was doing. It looked like Gwen had it, Ness tried to do the same, but utterly failed at it.

"Erm..yeah, please can you help me?" she asked, rather letting the professional do it.

"Almost." She repeated with a small nod. Dora almost not old enough to be here, only a few days shy of spending a whole nother year with her grandmother. Luuuuuckily she was born early! She didn't mind being one of the youngest in her class, especially since it wasn't obvious and no one knew unless she told. "I know! I have the best birthdays." Truth.

She inspected his hat while he listed the other gifts. "Jonesy is a cool name." She turned her gaze back to him and grinned. "You got cool gifts." And while she wondered what kind of books he got, and if he was any good at wizards chess and had questions about the shrunken head... they had a DRAGON KITE to finish building.

"Yeah! I got tails we can attach to the wingtips, color changing paint, and some glitter to make it sparkle more." She pointed to each of the items she'd set aside just for them. "And I got the thread and stuff for when we finish decorating." But now, she was starting with the paint!

"Yeah, they were," Janice smiled. "I saw them in practice and Keefer's actually getting the hang of it, being a captain and all." She peered at Keefer, somewhere in a distance. "Well, maybe...if I wasn't too busy. Why don't you try out, then?"

"Sure!" Janice replied. It's the first kite she has ever made and now she's very proud of it. "Where do you want to fly it?"

"I just think they keep getting better every term,'' Jory said examining his kite once again. It was true. The Puff team pulled off some incredible wins at times. Now, no one had never asked why he hadn't tried for the team. He shrugged. "I don't really know,'' he responded. It was true but the boy told Janice what he suspected. "I think I'm afraid I'll mess up the game and we loose.'' There, he said it- he'd never told anyone that.

"Let's go over to where the others are,'' Jory said indicating to the set of students who were already flying their kites. "But obviously not too close, we don't wanna get all tangled.'' He had had his fair share of tangled strings with others before and that spoilt the fun at times.

"Yup, like last year, they won the Championships after a very, very long time..." Janice stared at him. "Mess up the game and loose? That's all part of the fun! I started flying just 4 years ago," and it hit her. "Oh, my, it's our OWLs year next year...." She paused for a while before continuing, "but anyways, yeah."

"Oh, okay," Janice said while tidying up her strings. She took the Dr Pepper can with strings looped around it and her kite, and made her way to the Kite Flying Station.

Before Alec could hear what Anya had to say, another voice spoke out to the two of them. Or... to just him. Because this guy, a Prefect, seemed to be talking about Kite Sledding and he, Alec, was the one who didn't really understand it.

"So..." he started, trying to get his mind around the idea, "When we're Kite Sledding, where would the kite be?" Would they be sitting on it? Or would it be in front of them?



Alec blinked. Nothing to be nervous about? ... Oh right. Yeah. She was talking about the kite making. That was pretty nerve-wracking as well. "Yeah..." he said, smiling at her, "Yeah you're right." How was she always right? And... what about the pressure of staying pros? "So... we're not going to lose this?" he asked, nodding down at the kite. It seemed to be a lot more special now...

... She just called him by his name. BLINK. His best friend just called him 'Alec'. ... Was he in trouble? O_O

But before he could even try to think of what he could have done wrong, Anya continued speaking. ... Oh. So it was just his weirdness. Yeah, that seemed to make sense. And he didn't really know how to reply to her words so he stepped forwards, wrapped his arms around her and gave her a hug. "You're the best, Rilez," he whispered in her ear. And that was all that was needed to be said for now.

That. Was. FAST! Alec just blinked between Anya, the fabric she had been working on and back again. How...? No, he had to ask her. "How did you do that so quickly?!" Really, he hadn't even eaten ice cream from a spoon that quickly before.

Oh, so it was his turn? "Oh yeah! Sure," he said, taking the kite and starting to tie the string up. Now, concentrate Summers! You don't want to be messing this up. So, with his tongue in between his teeth, Alec started tying the string as carefully as he could. "There!" he said, holding the kite up and putting it in front of his face. "What do you think?" GRIN GRIN GRIN!

... Oh. "Does it... does it hurt?" he asked, looking down at her nicked finger. That really wasn't nice of the owl.

Hmm.

Truth be told, Gwen was kind of surprised that she had managed to assemble the kite. And it looked stable enough. Nice going, she congratulated herself, but then her thoughts were interrupted by something Nessie said. ‘Sure’, the fourth year said, trying not to sound unsure. She took the sticks and tried to put them on the kite, just like the first time.

Errrr.

If only she knew what in Merlin’s beard she had done the first time to put the sticks on the kite.

‘It has to be somehow like…’, the Ravenclaw mused, twirling the sticks in her hands. Errr. Was it too late to give up? Probably. ‘…this?’, the fourth year finally managed to finish her sentence. She attached the sticks to the kite, just like she did the first time. Yeah. It looked right. ‘Here’, the fourth year handed over the kite to the other girl. She really hoped she had put the sticks on it correctly. Meh. The kites are perfectly fineee, Gwendolyn thought.

‘Is there anything else we need to do?’, she asked and looked back at her kite. To her, it seemed like she was done. Hah! And ready to go outside. Gwen couldn’t even remember the last time she had flown a kite. Perhaps… when she was five? But the her dad probably charmed the kite to fly, since she had probably been a complete disaster. And besides, the kite had twice her size then.

Ohh! Yippie! This girl was clearly clever and knew what she was doing. Renesmee beamed as she watched Gwen get to work. This girl was amazing and clearly knew what she was doing, it was pretty obvious that this girl was a Ravenclaw. She just had to be.

It took the girl not too long, but it looked like she struggled a bit. Nessie pouted at this. She had just done it before hadn't she? Surely she could still do it again right? ...Maybe she just needed to refresh her memory a little. The red head wanted to try help, seeing as it was her kite after all, but she didn't know what to do exactly so she just stood there feeling helpless.

Finally! The kite was all done! And boy did it look pretty! It looked stable to. Whatever this girl had done had to be right. "Thank you." she said as she grinned at the girl and then at the kite.

Anything else? Hmmm...Ness thought for a bit. She didn't remember there being anything else. She was sure they were all set and ready to fly now...or maybe they weren't. That's when she remembered it.

"String! We need string!" she said with a small flail.

Their kites would go flying far away otherwise.

Where would it be?

"In the air, of course!" Spike said with chuckle. "You sit on the sled, and hold on to your kite string like you would if you were just flying it normally. Then you catch the wind with the kite to power you along the ground. Sorta like catching the wind in the sails on boats...?" He bit his lip, not sure how to explain it further. "I'm sure the Prefects over there will demonstrate if you want them to."

And if they didn't, Alec should come find Spike - he'd definitely demo it!

Kana sprinted up to a clear space in the table. It had been a long time since she made a kite, but she knew what she was doing. She just needed a moment to descide the design of her kite...

The girl wore a grey hoodie with the Ravenclaw emblem on the back-- She pushed up the sleeves slightly. Perched on her shoulder was her pigeon, Pigeon. Kana always thought owls were too messy and too loud. Pigeons seemed a much more conventional method of message-delivery. As Pigeon flitted down onto the table, she got her idea...

Kana grabbed her two sticks to start-- Nice and sturdy. Then she first chose a big, grey piece of paper, and a smaller piece of green-ish paper. She folded the grey paper until it was a diamond-shape and layed her sticks on top, gluing them in place. As that dried, she began to cut up the green-ish paper into little strips as Pigeon cooed softly in front of her.

This was going to be awesome...
