When you walk out onto the school grounds, you can see a long table stretching out with various items sprawled on it. There are balls of yarn and spools of thread, colorful papers and fabrics, sticks of all shapes and sizes, paints that change color and various other craft supplies. What might this be used for? This is for making kites. And why? Because it’s kite flying day! Your prefects and captains have given you the necessary materials to build your own spiffy kite to fly and to use to participate in various activities!
As for the gumdrops and marshmallows and jelly beans in their little bowls? That’s for decorating, but we’re pretty sure the prefects and captains won’t mind if you sneak a few into your mouth.
So get started! Build your kite here then fly it, whack piñatas with it or let it pull you across the lake!
Hmm. There was an idea. A kite without fabric. It would definitely be unique. But then...what if the kite felt all uncomfortable because it was flying around all nakerz around the other kites. Cause clearly kites had feelings. Clearly. And then her kite would be known as the little kite without clothes...the kite who couldn't get dressed. THE KITE STREAKER. O_____O Maybe she would use fabric after all...
Ella eyed the mess of materials in front of Blue and then her friend. She wasn't going to say it, but Blue's kite didn't seem to be coming along so great. And maybe she needed help but was afraid to ask? D'aww. She shouldn't be afraid! The second year was about to tell the little girl that when she spoke up...and she was apologizing? No no nooo. "It's okay, Blue. honestly." She said reassuringly, giving the first year a smile. "I can help you if you-" HUH? Her hands were glued together?! Ummm... "Here, let me just look at these and try and figure something out." And the blonde grabbed little Blue's hands in her own and inspected the damage. YIKES! They were really glued.
Ella was still trying to brainstorm ways to unglue Blue's hands when the second year started talking. She made sure to look Blue in the eyes, just so she knew Ella was really listening. After all, Blue was making it seem like this war really serious.

"Wait. You think I...that I l-love love Alec...erm with the hair...and Theo? ...Like little lurker, Theodore?" This was some kind of sick joke, right? Like where would she even have come up with such a...THEODOREEEE.
"Blue I don't know what Theodore told you..." YEAH, She knows it was the little lurker gossip. "But I don't love love Alec...with the hair. I only defended him when Theodore thought he was trying to embarrass him on purpose." See? That's just what friends did for other friends! "And as for loving Theodore..." Ella couldn't even BELIEVE she had to explain this. "I only told him I could love him as a friend. Probably the way you do." But ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no! Ella didn't love Theodore as a friend no mo! AND she was going to kick his little butt allll the way to Pizza Hut.

She didn't want Ella to tell her sister Eve that Blue had been LYING. "Really? You'll help meeee?" YAAAAY. "Can chu help me make like, the awesomeist kite in Hogwarts? I'm thinking either skeleton kite orrrrrr a kite that looks like a plane." That would be awesome. "OOOOH. Can you CHARM it to make noises like an air-o-plaaaaane?!" 'CAUSE THAT WOULD MAKE IT SOOO EPIC NO ONE WOULD BELIEVE SHE'D'VE MADE IT!

"Um-um. I totally didn't do that. A BIG mouse- no, ghost..yeah ghost! came along and SCARED me which made me drop the glue while I was gluing my epic kite and while the glue was up in the air the ghost snatched it and squirted it onto my hands while I wasn't looking."

Blue nodded and squirmed some more. "A reliable source...um...informed me. I ... kind of believe them but wanted to know if it twas truuue." Another squirm. Ella did NOT look happy. Meep. Uh-oh. If she got in trouble it was ALL. THEO'S. FAULT.
The eleven year old shook her head frantically. "N-noooo. Theo didn't tell me. Course he didn't. Pssht. Um. No. He didn't. SWEAR." Okaaay. She didn't wanna get him in trouble. "A GHOST told me. The same one that knocked the glue into my hands." Terrible liar right heeere.
"Um...you sure? Cause The- the GHOST told me you LOVE loved Alec with the hair and the Theo...the lurker." HE LIED?! :O But besties didn't LIE to eachother. Yup. The little girl was very hurt/annoyed noooow.
Cue another squirm. "Um...okay." Slightly relieved, gotta say. Despite the fact Theo said he was very lovable...(he probably was) twas kinda hard to believe Ella love loved him.
It was interesting how the prefects always managed to find some new activity each year. What she also liked about these events was that one couldn’t guess what the prefects were planning. They just managed to surprise the students. Or at least Gwen thought so. Well, truth be told, Gwen hadn’t used a kite since she was four, much less built one. But this time, it seemed she had to create her own kite. With hasty steps, the Ravenclaw made her way towards the kite making station, which seemed to be the place where everyone had to start.
With a quick look around, Gwendolyn was able to see quite many students already gathered there, working on their kites. She picked the materials and headed over towards the table, where she remained silent, trying to figure out what she wanted her kite to look like.
Hmm.
She felt like doing something creative, but she wasn’t really in the mood to design some sort of interesting shape for her kite. Naah. Not really. She was definitely going to pick that rhombus shape. Mhm. But then… which pattern would she use? What colours? Maybe blue. Or something simple with black and white stripes? Something more funky? In brighter colours? Naaah. Maybe not. Pft… there were so many possibilities from which to choose that Gwen found it difficult to make up her mind.
Snipety snipety snip.
The scissors in Nessie's right hand glided across the purple piece of cardboard that she was attempting to cut. She was doing an alright job, her kite wasn't the straightest, but did that really matter? She didn't think so. It was the fact that she was enjoying herself that mattered, which of course she was.
When somebody came to stand nearby, the red head looked up for a bit and watched the girl. The girl looked to be around the same age as her, maybe just a litte older, you could never be one hundred percent sure about ages, but then age was just a number right? Yep, at times it was. This girl was highly silent though and she didn't seem to be working on a kite. Nessie pouted at this. What was the girl waiting for? Why wouldn't she just start? Maybe she had no idea what to...that could have been so, but then wouldn't she at least try, like Ness was? Who knew what that girl was up to, she sure looked like she was in deep thought, though.
Then it hit Ness, she was thinking of how to proceed with a kite, most probably anyways. Or the girl could have been thinking about something else completely different. Ness was no mind reader, but sometimes she wished she was. She was always a curious little one and even the silliest things facinated her.
So once again letting teh curiosity get the better of her, the young Dixon looked up at the girl. "So..um..you planning on making a kite?" she asked and then finished cutting her piece of cardboard..

As for charming the kite to make airplane noises...that sounded a bit hard. "You know, I bet one of the older kids could help us with that part! There must be prefects around here somewhere...they are putting this whole thing on, aren't they?" So it was kinda their duty to help out the younger kids make EPIC kites. Mhmmm. It was.

And to squirt the glue into your hands after it scared you?! We should call the..." Who did you call when there was something strange in the neighborhood...OH, right! "THE GHOSTBUSTERS!" Surely they were listed in the phonebook. "And I think to get your hand apart we just need to...um...maybe try to scourgify them or something? Do you think that might work?"

Theodore whizzed down to the lake area, a place that was always BURSTING with people, which is why he tended to avoid it. But today, there seemed to be like, a carnival going on. And Theodore Kinsley did not miss carnivals.
Going to the first stand, he grabbed himself some bright GREEN fabric and drew a huge smiley face on it.

Wait... was that mini marshmallows and gumdrops? And JELLY BABIES? Theo picked out all of the red jelly babies, cos they were his favourite. He popped three in his mouth sneakily, then proceeded to stick the others on his picture.
He could be an artist, with all the decorating going on around the school lately. FUUUUUUN, fun. Looking around, Theo spotted Blue talking to Ella.... and he lowered his head down immediately. Blue had BETTER NOT be breaking their bestie code by telling Ella things... Unspeakable things.

"Huh? ... Oh yeah! Why not? It'd be pretty boring flying this thing on my own" he chimed, making room on the table for the stuff she held by roughly getting his own stuff to the side. "Hi! I am Nathan," he greeted, offering his hand.

Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
Good grief, Oakey crumbled up his first kite and began working on his second one. It was Yellow Fabric and he took a black marker and drew large black zigzag lines across it. Feeling satisfied he picked up a pair of scissors and began cut the fabric out into a perfect diamond shape.
He lifted it up and eyed his masterpiece making sure it was perfect. He laid it back down and picked up some sticks laying them vertically and horizontally across the fabric. Now it was time for round two against the glue. He reached out of a bottle but noticed it was the same bottle from before. He retreated his hand back and looked for another bottle. Across from him was the Defense Professor. Professor Romanos may I see that glue when you're finished? Asked nicely.
Hopefully this bottle won't be half empty when he got his turn. Who was the fool who thought it was a smart idea to make a sticky kite. He scanned the table to find the culprit when he finally reached Merdogs kite his eyes grew wide! Did he mean fool he meant coolest guy in all of Hogwarts! Nice Kite Mr.Merdog, I like what you've done with it.

Unfortunately, Blue would probably need more help with her Kite than Ella would with hers...after all, she was all glued together. Poor kid. If Ella won first and Blue won second, Ella would still share her gummies with little Blue. YES she would!
Ella wanted to laugh and admit to Blue that she knew the firsty was lying but she just couldn't. She didn't want to call Blue a liar or anything! That would be mean! Ella hated being mean. So instead..."Oh, okay. Well if you don't think it will bother you again...no need to call." See? So no worries, little Blue. You won't be in any trouble with the guys in khaki.
O___O Whoa. Whoa. Ella didn't say she was going to do it! She only suggested the spell. Sheesh. "Blue it's okay, we'll just get a professor or something to help, okay?" Take a breather, little guy.
Heh. They were both weird! Ella totally agreed. "Most boys are weird, Blue. I think it's something in their DNA...totes scientific. Poor boys, they just can't help it." It really was quite unfair...the way girls got the cool gene and boys got the weird one.
The second year understood why Blue was defending Theodore the ghost. She would have defended her best...ghost if that ghost ever did anything like this ghost had. "Yeah, I guess you're right. This erm...ghost probably didn't know what he-erm it was doing so maybe I won't kill...the ghost after all." And the little ghost would be getting off easy, lucky him.
And now Blue was trying to set her up...with who? Alec? Theodore? Ummm no thank youuuu! "Blue, that's sweet but I uh...I think I'm okay for now." Your services won't be needed at this time, thank you. Although if she could only convince Harvey...
Thank Merlin! Blue finally believed her! This was great news! That meant that no one else would be asking about Ella and Alec...with the hair. Or Ella and Theodore for that matter, right? RIGHT?
Following Blue's gaze, the second year then spotted someone not too far away. Someone lurking right within walking distance from her. One Mr. "GHOST." Hmmm.

Tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear she took a deep breath and took his hand. "Addy Kennedy, nice to meet ya," she said louder as she gave his hand a gentle little shake. "This is all pretty cool, right? I mean... magic school flying kites. It's unreal," she said as she dropped his hand and fidgeted slightly.
Oh my! He was nice LOOKING and very not... bitey or mean or anything dreadful. This all made Addy smile slightly as she carefully placed her stuff on the table beside his.
Tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear she took a deep breath and took his hand. "Addy Kennedy, nice to meet ya," she said louder as she gave his hand a gentle little shake. "This is all pretty cool, right? I mean... magic school flying kites. It's unreal," she said as she dropped his hand and fidgeted slightly.
Oh. So she had a voice! Lovely.
"It's nice to meet as well," Nathan responded pleasantly. He nodded at her next statement. "Yes. It's brilliant! I didn't know magic folk would get a kick out of flying kites .. when they could so easily fly themselves!"
Quidditch was awesome.
Turning to the table, he added: "So where do we begin?"

Addy couldn't STOP the tinkling little giggle that erupted from between her lips at his enthusiasm. "It is always funny to me when people who grew up in the Wizard world are awed by Muggle stuff. It's all so... ordinary to me," she said with as shrug as she grabbed her two wooden dowels.
"I don't like to fly very much, personally. It's kind of scary. My cousin played quidditch here and loves to fly. Of course she was a Gryffindor," Addy added with a giggle!snort.
"We need to put the dowels together first... the base of the kite. Then attach the fabric, string, and tail." She felt her cheeks blush as she looked up at him through her lashes.

"Well, everything you need is right here. Make a frame for your kite with the sticks and the string. Lay them on top of each other like this," he said, taking two sticks and crossing them. "Bind them together with the string at the intersection. Once you have the frame done, you can pick out the fabric to stretch across it. If you need help with that, just come find me or the Prefects, okay?"
He smiled reassuringly and left her to her own devices. She seemed like she only wanted enough help to get her going, so he began to check on the others and see if they needed some help.
"A skeleton kite and a plane kite. Sounds AWESOME. We would totally win some kind of prize if there was one." WAIT! Was there a prize?! Like a ribbon that said FIRST or maybe even a trophy! ...Or even better, a trophy FILLED with gummy bears! O____O Oh please let their be a trophy filled with gummy bears! Unfortunately, Blue would probably need more help with her Kite than Ella would with hers...after all, she was all glued together. Poor kid. If Ella won first and Blue won second, Ella would still share her gummies with little Blue. YES she would!
Ella wanted to laugh and admit to Blue that she knew the firsty was lying but she just couldn't. She didn't want to call Blue a liar or anything! That would be mean! Ella hated being mean. So instead..."Oh, okay. Well if you don't think it will bother you again...no need to call." See? So no worries, little Blue. You won't be in any trouble with the guys in khaki.
O___O Whoa. Whoa. Ella didn't say she was going to do it! She only suggested the spell. Sheesh. "Blue it's okay, we'll just get a professor or something to help, okay?" Take a breather, little guy.
Heh. They were both weird! Ella totally agreed. "Most boys are weird, Blue. I think it's something in their DNA...totes scientific. Poor boys, they just can't help it." It really was quite unfair...the way girls got the cool gene and boys got the weird one.

Thank Merlin! Blue finally believed her! This was great news! That meant that no one else would be asking about Ella and Alec...with the hair. Or Ella and Theodore for that matter, right? RIGHT?
Following Blue's gaze, the second year then spotted someone not too far away. Someone lurking right within walking distance from her. One Mr. "GHOST." Hmmm.

Anya smiled spotting her best friend in the whole entire world. How was it that he always looked like he had just hopped off a broom? Even before she knew broom's flew, Alec's hair always seemed to do that.
She gave Alec a hug. Why? She had no idea. It just seemed like a good thing to do. We'd been feeling a little bit weird lately. Sometimes she wanted to be away from people. Sometimes she wanted to give them a huge hug.
Today was a hug kind of day.

AND MORE BLUSHING. Averting her eyes she took a few calming breaths and then nodded her head. "You have to promise to keep me safe, though," she said as she turned back to look him in his eyes. Nice eyes, they were. Mhm. SHaking herself a bit she picked up some blue fabric and began to attach it to the little cross shape she had made with the dowels.
Having something to focus on made it easier to talk. "I'm from Chicago. The United States. I have been loads of places, though." SO yeah... she had seen stuff and done things and stuff. Hehehe. "Have you ever been to the US?" she asked as she peeked at him through her lashes.
