When you walk out onto the school grounds, you can see a long table stretching out with various items sprawled on it. There are balls of yarn and spools of thread, colorful papers and fabrics, sticks of all shapes and sizes, paints that change color and various other craft supplies. What might this be used for? This is for making kites. And why? Because it’s kite flying day! Your prefects and captains have given you the necessary materials to build your own spiffy kite to fly and to use to participate in various activities!
As for the gumdrops and marshmallows and jelly beans in their little bowls? That’s for decorating, but we’re pretty sure the prefects and captains won’t mind if you sneak a few into your mouth.
So get started! Build your kite here then fly it, whack piñatas with it or let it pull you across the lake!
Damon walked out, actually smiling. He thought this might be a found way to remember his mother, it was something they did together all the time for fun. Making a kite was always fun and they did it at least a once a month no matter the weather... Well, that was before the accident. But it could be fun... Right? He sighed as he started to make his kite.

Minerva walked over seeing Damon she smiled, "Hey Damon. How are you doing?" She pulled the materials she wanted to make a kite. "This is going to be fun." She giggled and started by getting the materials she wanted to use to decorate her kite. She pulled some yarn and beads down and began gluing them onto the kite. She wanted to make it look as nice as she could.
Selena's pygmy puff stayed on the table. And anyone who tried to glue him, stick him, or fly him would be in trouble. Selena decided that early on. The Head Girl had a bright cheery smile on her face as she looked at everyone coming towards the table. "Helloooooo~" the girl exclaimed, beaming at the two people at the table already. Were they going to make their kites? Selena liked kites. Plus, there was a lot of WORK that went into planning this whole thing so the people here better make some extra spiffy kites. Yup, if not, Kent would eat their snot.
Hm... maybe she ought to put a sign saying Kent was not to be used for decoration. Or maybe Kent wanted to fly? Selena would never know. Selena just STARED at the kids. Make a kite. Be cool. Maybe they got that telepathic message she just sent to be awesometastical?

Damon smiled at his friend, "Hey Min!" He gave her a light hug before returning to his kite, "I'm actually doing well. And you?" He smiled at her, "This is something Mom and I did all the time before... Well, you know."
Spike's curls popped up from under the table, where he'd bent down to sort his untied shoelace out. Spying the Slytherin's pygmy puff, his lightly shook his head. "You're asking for that to go flying, you know," he said with a grin. Maybe she wanted it to? Matilda was staying safely in Spike's curls for the moment. He didn't want to scare any girls, or firsties, or anyone really, away with the sight of his tarantula. No-one ever understand how friendly Matilda was, especially on a first look. Much safer in his curls.
"Heya peeps," he greeted, as people started heading in their direction. "Take whatever you need to make a totally cool kite." Hmm, maybe he should make a demo? Afterall, what was the fun in running an event, if you couldn't have a little go yourself?
With that in mind, he started to pick out supplies for his base kite. Oh yes, Prefect Spike could show the kiddies how to make AWESOME kites.

Selena blinked blankly at the Ravenclaw, grabbing a few jelly beans from a nearby bowl and popping them into her mouth. She then glanced at her pygmy puff... then back at the prefect. The short Slytherin grabbed a sheet of paper and a quill. "Do not fly pygmy puffs," Selena muttered as she wrote. After finishing, Selena picked up her pygmy puff and laid the sheet of paper down, placing Kent on top. "No one's going to fly Kent now!" Selena said, beaming at him and grabbing a few more jelly beans.
Because they tasted good.
Was he making a kite like everyone else?! PSHT. Selena didn't need to make a kite... the awesometastical didn't MAKE kites... they decorated them. And that was it... yup.

Alice skipped down to the Kite Making station. She'd heard that flying kites was a lot of fun, but she'd never actually done it, so she was excited to make one. The girl eyed all the materials in awe; never before had she seen so much glue in all her life. Was it SuperGlue? AND THERE WAS CANDY, TOO. The lioness was sure that she had died and gone to heaven. Kite making was already fun and she hadn't even started to build anything yet.
The girl glanced around to see who was running the station, and right away, she noticed that both of the Prefects there had animals. One, of course, was Prefect Pygmy Puff, but her little animal was not on her head as usual. Maybe he had fallen off? Heh. The other was a guy with a tarantula parked in his curls. She wondered if it was a pet, or just some random spider that had crawled up there. It was kind of cute. "Is that yours?" She asked him. After staring at the thing for a while, Alice started to gather materials for her kite. She found some spiffy pieces of fabric and glued them together. This kite was going be real schmancy.

Flying kites were not Tiffany's favourite but it was surely worth trying it out. She went over to the table with a broad smile on her face. Scanning through the materials that the prefects had prepared, she started to get panic. She couldn't even decide which one she was going to use or decorate nor the first step of making a kite. How could she possibly fly a kite when she didn't even know how to make one?
She pouted a little as she thought about this. Then she found someone to help, suggesting that the Ravenclaw would like to help her with it. "Heya,"she padded his shoulders."Could you teach me how to make an awesome kite? Just a few steps then I'm going to try it out myself."she chuckled, putting a few jelly beans into her mouth.

Blue skipped down to the long table, wrapped up warm (ish) and READY TO MAKE THE AWESOME-IST KITE HOGWARTS HAS EVA SEEEEEEN! She eyed the table and saw SUPER GLUE (YUSH) and SUGAR (DOUBLE!YUSH). EEP. Third. Best. Day. Everrrrrr. She took a fist full of marshmellows and ate them all in one go before lunging for the glue.
She squeezed it onto a piece of blue paper, getting a load on her hand.
Uh-oh.
Blue tried to rub it off but just got both hands stuck together.

They could eat the sweeties? Awesome! Spike always needed extra sugar. He picked up a handful, and nibbled on them and watched Selena start writing with a small chuckle.
"Kent?" he questioned. Why was anything going to be flying a whole county? "Ooooh, your pigmy puff!" he exclaimed, as the penny dropped. He gave her a crooked smile.

"Hmm?" Spike looked up from gathering his kite supplies to see the Gryffindor. He followed her curls upwards towards his curls, and realised that Matilda had decided to venture out a bit. Usually the spider stayed pretty well hidden amongst his curls. "Yes. She's mine," he replied with a grin. "Matilda, my tarantula." Matilda reached out a leg, as if waving. "You like spiders?" he asked. Well, sh hadn't totally freaked out that there was large one in his hair...most people did. Including his parents.

"So I'm gonna make a simple diamond shape," he started, picking up one long stick and one short one. "We make the frame first. These two are stuck together here." He crossed the smaller stick over the long one, and pointed to the middle. "Then we make the edges of the frame out of these bits to make a diamond." He laid it all out, and began gluing the pieces together. All good so far? The next bit was a little tricky...

Craft supplies! Eeeep! With different colored yarns and fabrics and, beautiful sticks and colorful papers. This was all Erin wanted to see at Hogwarts in one place. She would admit, she wasn't much of a creative person, though, she was always tempted by beautiful things like these.
Without any hesitation, Erin moved to pick up some of her needed supplies for the kite making. Not many were here yet, good thing, Erin could choose from all the available resources. She saw the Head Girl Selena who just recently called her Mango and there's Spike Hutchinson, their House Prefect. She also saw Minerva with a Hufflepuff guy and they were mostly deep in conversation about the kite. She also saw Blue and Alice and the lovely Tiffany.
And when Erin was all ready, she heard Spike make a demo on how to do a kite. She joined the others who were up front and watched intently.

Damon smiled, lifting his kite as well. Simple enough design for him. He looked at Min, "I think it looks fine," He chuckled, "And still I'm sure it was nice to get a break from the school."

Kite Flying Event! At Hogwarts!
This Ravenclaw had to read the announcement several times to make sure he didnt misunderstand. One look from the lofty view of their tower had him spotting a few colorful creations darting about in the sky above the lake. No more reading and rationalizing. He's there!
... after a quick stop at the Library of course heh.
Vickers made his way to the a table that had quite a number of people. Peering over the heads of a few young ones his eyes lit up to see they were making kites. Oh! He can make these, the simple ones no sweat, but the slightly complicated ones he's hasnt done in a while, and always it was with his uncle.
He turned towards the supply area and tucking that book under his arm, took the materials he needed-- a few long, sturdy, sticks and several short ones, a selection of light, colorful fabric, various kinds of clips, patches and adhesives and an entire spool of kite-flying thread.
He moved towards the end of side of the table and lay his materials down, setting most of them aside save for a couple of the long sticks. Now he has to start building the backbone...

A tarantula. Named Matilda.
Blink. Blink. Blink. Grin.
Hehe. Alice stared at the tarantula. "Yep. She's kind of cute. Matilda, you said?" D'awwh. She would have loved a pet spider, but her owl would have probably eaten it. He would have eaten anything. He tried to eat Prefect Pygmy Puff's beloved pet one day. So bad idea. The girl shook her head and cleared it of the disturbing thoughts. Instead, she watched the 'Claw Prefect make a demo kite.
OH. Oh. You had to use sticks. No one had told her that. o___________O

So they were flying kites. Sarah was rather scared to be around when the kites were in the air as she had heard horror stories of people being killed after a kite dived down on them. Yet, she was going to be good sport, and pretend that she had not a care in the world and set to work. She followed the instruction of the prefect and set to work. Two sticks glued later Sarah was awaiting the next instructions. She had already chosen the hot pink fabric and some purple string.

Gumdrops and marshmallows? Wouldn't those make the kite sink cause they were heavy? But it couldn't be to light either, so she chose long sticks to use as a frame. Charlit wanted to make her kite as aero-dynamic as possible. She found the biggest piece of paper possible, it happened to be white and she folded it into a shape that would cut into the wind.
Of course it still had to be pretty for the viewing! She attatched colorful streamers to the edges of the kite so it looked like a flying sun. For the finishing touch, she strung the string around a handel and the other end to the base of the kite so the could adjust it's length when attempting to do tricks. All done. Dynamic!
Nigel had never made a flying kite before. But he decided that he was going to try and make the most awesome kite ever. So he looked around to see what everybody was doing and copied them. He already had his awesome black and purple fabric. So now all he need was some glue and some accessories for his kite.
Once he got everything he need back to his little station, Nigel got to work. After a couple minutes he cut the fabric is the kite will be a circle with black on one half and purple on the other. He did attach some red streamers at the end so it would look more awesome. After the streamers were put on Nigel stepped back and knew he was done making his awesome kite.

Yes Gemma was excited about this year's Prefect event...almost little girl giddy about it actually. She hurried down to the Kite Making Station and looked around at all of the students smiling and nodding her head up and down slightly at each of them. Was it bad that she was the only professor down here...nah...she didn't mind having fun with the students she definitely wasn't one of those Professors that felt like they were above the students.
She glanced at all of the supplies and started grabbing...quickly but nicely...at the items she wanted. She grabbed some basket weaving reed, some neon colored paper, some glue, some scissors, markers, and some thread and went to work creating the perfect kite.
As she worked, her face was shining with a smile and finally after almost an hour of measuring and cutting and pasting and organizing, she had her kite ready to go. She held it up and then grabbed some streamers and ribbon and tied them onto the basket weaving reed at the bottom so that her butterfly kite had beautiful streamers. Then she attached her string to the bottom so she could fly it. She secured it tightly with a sticking spell and then stood up holding her kit in the air in front of her.

Ronnie ran as fast as she could out onto the school grounds, eager to begin making her kite. This would be so fun! Hers would be colorful! And green! And pretty! And and... and ...
Whoops!.....
Next thing Ronnie knew, she had tripped face first into the ground. Erm...that was..embarrassing. She lifted her head up a little, and looked around hoping nobody had seen. Ugh. Ronnie was so clumsy. She slowly stood up, making sure her clothes hadn't gotten dirty or anything. Luckily, they hadn't. She looked fineee.
She made her way to the (very) long table that had many different things on it to make the kite. She eyed the candy, her eyes growing wide. CANDY?! CANDY?!?!? TO EAT?! YAAAAAA-
Then she noticed some other students putting candy on the kites. Ohh. Those were just to decorate the kites with. Darn...well...no one would mind if she snuck a few, right?
Ronnie looked at everything set out on the table. She snatched a green piece of paper, smiling as she did. Ronnie loved the color green, it was the best ever! She then took a good enough sized stick, some red yarn and began working on her kite. Once she finished that part, she grabbed a handful of gumdrops and jellybeans and stuck a few of them on various places on her kite and popped the rest in her mouth. Mmmm. Delicious, sweet, amazing candy. Oh how she loved candy.
After a while of more decorating, Ronnie was finished. She beamed at her beautiful work, she was SUCH an amazing kite maker. She was an expert. Now to go fly it!

Kites were most certainly not on Emmanuelle's list of fun things to do. After all, what was so fun about watching pieces of cloth float around on the wind? But since it was a good reason to get out of the castle and avoid Lafay, she'd had bundled up and dragged herself out here. Reaching the table where all the kite making supplies had been put out, she hestiated for a moment. Did she really what to make a kite? Or would she rather turn around and make for the viewing area and find a place to sit?

SPOILER!!: Butterfly Kite
And when Erin was all ready to fly her kite, she held it up and admired her work. She looked at the other students who were still doing their kites. And then, she immediately saw Professor Cerulean holding up her butterfly kite and attaching the string. She didn't know how to do that, so might ask for a help. After all, her professor teaches Muggle Studies and she knew a lot about Muggle stuffs.
Holding her kite with her two hands, Erin walked towards Profesor Cerulean, "Hello Professor. Nice kite!" Erin greeted. "...er...could you? Could you help me put the strings?" she asked politely. The older woman seemed to be enjoying this kite-making anyway.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Jory was looking at all the stuff spread across the table which they were to use to make their kites. He couldn't wait to make one. He admired all the different colours and tried to decide what shape of kite he should make.
It was then he noticed Professor Cerulean holding up her kite. "Nice kite, Professor!'' he called. "Really creative,'' he thought. Maybe that's why she was his favourite Professor.
The Badger grabbed some coloured paper, sticks and paint and set to work.
Glenn arrived at the kite-making station and stood beside it. Just stood. How did you make these?
The blonde took a piece of white paper and looked awkwardly around the table. Were the prefects supposed to help them? Hmm. She didn't want help. Maaaaaaybe she should just go back and sit in the viewing area...
