As she was drawing her attention back at the table, Gwen realized there were still a few people she needed to see. Hmm. She was almost willing to go say goodbye to the Slytherins she knew, but she noticed someone else joining the table. Ah. Of course. ‘Hello Ellie’, she greeted the Captain. Man she seemed happy to graduate…unlike most of the seventh years. | From somewhere else, Ellie heard her name. She turned her head toward the voice to see ickle Gwen. "Hey!" she responded with a wave like the one given to Beezus.
The girl could join her if she wanted to. Ellie didn't mind. She needed distractions because this night was going to last forever otherwise. Quote:

Ellie just smiled and waved at her. Well? She should return the favor, yes? So, after plastering on a small smile, she managed to nod at the Captain.
Why was it so hard to say goodbye to people who seemed too enthusiastic to leave?! Ellie seemed so happy that Beezus would gladly shove away anything that could destroy the Captain's night. And that includes herself, yes. Without thinking, she scampered away from her seat and thought of transferring to the very edge of their table which was closest to the door.
But she retraced her footsteps once she realized what she left behind. She just boomeranged her way back because she....she disappointed a friend...kind of. | .....And Beezus ran away?
....Only to return.

What? "Know what's up with her?" Ellie asked...no one in particular. But anyone could answer. Preferably one who actually DID know what was up with Beezus. Quote:

He vaguely heard Louisa’s and Alyssa’s convo when Cap’n Skippy Ellie’s familiar flame colored hair bounced into the Great Hall and took her seat at their table. Another happy graduate. Maybe it’s a good trend yeah? “Hey Cap’n Ellie, you look like this is the best day of your life.” its hard to believe she hated it that much to be so eager to leave it, specially how they did so well in Quidditch. Had to be something else right? | But again, the redhead was distracted by her name. This time, Vickers was the owner of the voice that called to her.
Best day of her life? HARDLY. "Nah, but tomorrow will be. Or...it'll be in the top three." Or four. There were a few days in her life that really stuck out to Ellie. And she couldn't choose a 'best' of them. Quote:

Max looked down at his hands in his lap. "No." NO. He had no reason to smile. He was happy for Ellie, perhaps, but it wasn't the I'm happy for you so I'm going to smile and play along kind of happy. Deep, deep down in his heart he was happy for her. But mostly, he was just sad. He had never known Hogwarts without Ellie Stone. Next term, he would be surrounded by things that would constantly remind him of her - Quidditch, flying, red-headed students, stubbornness, Vindictus, the Ravenclaw common room, general beauty, friendship...
...how was he supposed to survive without her?
As a Hufflepuff boy approached and greeted Ellie, Max kept his head low. When the Hufflepuff asked her if she had to go, Max instinctively reached over and grabbed his best friend's hand. He squeezed it softly as if to say, I'm sad, Ellie. Ellie, please make the hurt stop. Ellie, please don't go. I don't want to be here without you. | 'No'????
Well, Max had successfully cause Ellie's smile to disappear. "But...why not? Summer starts tomorrow!" Exciting stuff! Even he could be excited about summer, even if he still had to come back next term. Two months of no school was better than the ten months of school he just endured.
Then he grabbed her hand. Ellie had NOT been expecting that.
She turned her eyes to him and tried to read his expression, but couldn't really. All she could tell was that he was very clearly NOT happy. Almost worried, even. "What's with you?" she whispered to him. |
