Lisaaaaaa <3 Selina was in a funk, but she was sick of sitting up in the Common Room dorms feeling sorry for herself. She knew that Kurumi was right about it being okay to cry and all after their long conversation in the dorms, yet it did not make things all better. The redhead was still upset about what had transpired. But life did not stop because Selina was hurt. Life kept moving forward so Selina was going to put a bandage on her hurt and go out and get work done. She has responsibilities that she owed her professors to get done and she had a life that she owed herself to live. Rejection would come and go in her life, she needed to deal with it. So she made her way to the library and began searching through the stacks for a book on Charms and Transifiguration origins for a parchment she had to write. After looking up where the book she needed would be she made it over to the stacks and looked up. Selina was short, that was something that anyone could see, and the book was on the second to highest shelf. Usually, this was not a problem, but then she remembered that she left her wand in the dorms. MERLIN!!!! With a determined look on her face she began to jump up and down trying to reach the bloody annoying book. She was not in the mood. |
Quote:
No, not here...not here either...not here either... He made his way from shelf to shelf in search for a book which might be useful for his research and almost walked past the aisle a certain redhead was in. Almost. Had she not chosen exactly that moment to start jumping up and down, Lewis would have definitely walked right past her. As it were though, the Prefect stopped and just watched her for a second, chewing on his lip. It was just the tiniest bit awkward to be- Okay, actually it was REALLY awkward seeing Selina again. REALLY. But still, she looked like she wanted to get a book down from one of the top shelves. And she was way too small to reach it. "Do you...do you need help?" Lewis addressed her while taking a couple of steps towards her, into the aisle of books she was in. If she wanted him to leave he could. They hadn't really gotten a chance to talk since..."Hi, by the way." Since he hadn't said that before. And it was only polite to start a conversation with this. |
SPOILER!!: Lewis The more she reached for the book the more she felt like it was starting to taunt her. It was a lot higher up than she was and it was not making Selina's life any easy. The week had not been too pleasant to begin with and now this bloody book was irking her even more than she needed to be irked. Her jumping became more erradic and annoyed until she finally heard a voice great her. She paused like a child caught with a piece of candy at the sound of his voice. She had been caught in the act of jumping up and down for a book like an idiot. It was one of the more embarassing things she had been caught doing in a very long time. But it was not the jumping and getting caught that made the situation awkward. It was the voice. That voice was one that Selina knew well because of... well... everything. Slowly she turned around and gave him a side smile, "Oh erm, hello Lewis." The last time the two had really spoken it had been under very difficult circumstances. He and Kurumi had been in a rough patch because Kurumi was in a rough patch. Selina, being the best friend of the female party, had to go and deliver very difficult news to the Hufflepuff prefect. That was really the last time the two of them had spoken. She wasn't sure if that conversation made them friends, but she certainly respected him. Besides, he had serious brownie points for pulling Kurumi out of the darkness like he had. She was afraid for her friend and he was helping to fix her Then she looked back up at the book and nodded, "Yes, please. It's the Herbology and Transfig origins books, please." The bloody book was a lot more trouble than it was worth. |
Quote:
Now she still had to find a book of her own to read. She scanned the near by books. Everything around here was all to Herbology-ish for her. She'd need to look somewhere else. So, thats what she did. The red head looked up at the boy. "Um..well..I need to go find a book." she said not sure if it was even worth telling him. "I'll see you around." You know, cause in Hogwarts you see people all the time, right? With that little goodbye, the Badger went off in search of a good book. |
Text Cut: Selina :3 Selina looked surprised to say the least when he addressed her. Surprised and...there was something else too, something Lewis couldn't quite put his finger on. The way she froze at first, almost as if she'd been caught doing something she shouldn't be doing. Only she wasn't right? No, she was only trying to get that book down. At least it looked like that. So why was she acting like that? Though, at least she hadn't in any way implied that he should leave her alone. Which was good. He had kind of grown to like Selina, despite her being the bearer of bad news. Or she had been anyway. Still, he really didn't want to make this awkward or anything. Or even more awkward than it already was, actually. Lewis followed her gaze towards the book before taking those last few steps into her direction which brought them right next to her. Nodding slowly at her description, he reached up - holding onto to the bookshelf with his other hand for balance - and pulled the book out from between the others. Why he didn't just use his wand, he didn't really know, either and so when she'd asked him for help, he had just helped her with what she'd been doing. Which was trying to get the book down without her wand. And yes, right in that moment this actually made sense to Lewis. Once he had the book safely in both of his hands, Lewis turned to face Selina again with a slightly hesitant smile on his lips. "There you go." Offering the book to her, the Hufflepuff waited for her to take it while trying hard not to get too anxious thinking about what was going to happen once she had taken the book. Which he didn't know. And it strangely made him a little nervous. |
SPOILER!!: L-L-L-Lewis It was a few seconds before Selina finally reached out to grab the tattered, old, leather bound book in Lewis' hand. She did not know why she hesitated so long, but she assumed it had something to do with the fact that once she took the book their topic of conversation was going to disappear and Selina had no idea what she would even say to him. A lot had happened since they had last really spoken and she wasn't sure if she was allowed to address it or if she even should address it. They had not exactly had their first proper conversation on normal terms- Selina was too busy telling him that Kurumi was in a shambles. Right, awkward. But she did take the book and quietly said, "Oh thanks." She turned around briefly to shove the book into her bag for later. It was going to be a nice read later when she was up in her dorms doing everything she could possibly do to avoid conversing with a certain someone in the Common Room. Besides, now that she had spent the last several nights up in the dorm she needed to do something productive with her time, but it could not be something that involved the chance that she might run into... him. She would not even know what to say. Once the book was nestled into her bag, she turned back around to look at Lewis. She nodded her head to nothing to try and fill the space and shifted the weight of her body in between her shoes. Maybe she should say something, anything. It would be better than the awkward silence that was enveloping the pair of them in the narrow library bookshelves. "Sooooo," she began drawing out her so trying to come up with something to say, "umm... how have you been?" Good? Not really, but it was better than nothing. |
Text Cut: S-S-S-Selina...but no, "P" definitely works better than "L" or "S" xD Selina's brief hesitation in taking the book provided Lewis with a few seconds of silence so he could...yes, do what exactly? Freak out they were going to talk about once the moment was over? Come up with a really good conversation topic that was neither too superficial nor too deep. Which would be really really hard since he wasn't exactly much of a talker anyway, and especially not good with awkward situations. He could also spend the time thinking about a really good excuse why he had to leave again. Only it wasn't that he didn't like Selina's company or anything. Somehow he ended up not doing any of those options but just continued to chew on his lower lip, however. It was going to be fine. Lewis was trying to be a little laid back about things, live in the now so to say and not think too far ahead. And now Selina was busy taking the book from him and putting it in her bag. "Anytime." Well, anytime he was around, you know. "Do you need anything else?" Okay, he was probably trying to hold on to this topic for a little too long but it was a legit question. Maybe she would need other books which were in the top rows. It was totally likely. Only even he had to realize that the moment of talking about the book Selina needed was over now. Lewis allowed his eyes to wander around the aisle for a moment, reading a couple of book titles at random to see if maybe there was a book HE could use somewhere. His gaze landed back on the Gryffindor's face however when she spoke up and he stopped chewing on his lip to just look at her for a second, a small happy smile playing around his lips. "Good. I've been good." Since start of November anyway. Before that things had been a bit...difficult. She would know, though, right? "How have you been?" Because see in this case he knew which time the tense referred to. Or thought so anyway. It referred to the time which had passed since their last meeting. Though actually they'd seen each other after that again, during that movie. Where she'd thrown him a not-so-nice look. Remembering that, Lewis' faltered slightly and he bit his lip again, averting his gaze away from her face. Well, but at least everything had worked out in the end. |
SPOILER!!: Can't read my, can't read my... oh hey Lewis Do you need anything else? The redhead desperatley wished that she did need something else because that would give the pair of them more time to avoid starting any given conversation. It was not that Selina did not like Lewis, she thought he was a nice guy, it was more that she did not know what to say to him. The last time they had really spoken it had not been on the easiest of terms. And they both obviously were cogniscent of their previous conversation during the current one, so it made the air thick with unspoken things. Selina knew that Lewis knew that she knew that he was stalling and she was stalling at well. Regardless of who was doing what, though, the two teenagers were not really talking much about anything and a book could only hold their attention for so much longer. Then, after the book conversation had sailed, Selina opened their conversation with a simple, harmless question. It was something that a child could ask without any anxiety and Selina figured it was a good place to start. Besides, it was not like they were engaged in a particularly riveting conversation anyway. She could afford to talk about how he was as long as it stayed simple and impersonal. When he said he was good, she smiled curtly at him and repeated, "Good, that's good." What else was she really supposed to say to his question? She had nothing else to say because the only other thing that Selina REALLY knew about Lewis revolved around Kurumi and she had a feeling that the topic of Kurumi was out of bounds. Not that Selina really wanted to bring up Kurumi either. Opening that can of worms could segeway into waters that she did not want to tread, especially not in a library. She was glad that he, out of formailty, asked her how she was doing. But then she remembered how she was actually doing. To be honest she was worse than she had been in a long time. Her heart had been trampled on by her own foolishness and she had no idea how to fix a relationship that she should have never destroyed. She was in the library to distract herself... to keep herself moving because she had seen what happened when people Putting on a polite face she replied, "I'm good... just busy with Quidditch and all." There was no need to plague Lewis with her problems... they didn't know each other that well and Selina really didn't want to even tell him. It would be weird and she was a private person. |
The fact that she didn't reply right away did not go unnoticed by Lewis but naturally he didn't comment on it. He wasn't even sure what her hesitation meant and who was he to assume anything anyway. Maybe she was just distracted. Or already thinking about what they would be talking about after she'd answered. It was the book all over again. Next topic would probably be the weather. It made him a little sad that this conversation had started to become so awkward. Was it him? Was it his fault? Though it probably was nobody's fault. It was just the fact that their last conversation had been quite...intense. And it hadn't been about them either. Which made this encounter even weirder somehow. Quidditch! There was their new conversation topic. Even though he wasn't playing this term. And he still hadn't exactly talked to Keefer about how he felt about that. They'd been sort of interrupted at the feast and hadn't really gotten to talk since then. Hopefully he wouldn't be too upset. Lewis Lewis nodded slowly, not quite sure what to say despite the change of topic. "Uhm...well, I really hope you're doing better this year than last." And this might have been considered rude if his smile hadn't been completely genuine and honest. He really DID hope that they would be doing better than last year. They should come in second maybe. Since well, first was obviously going to be Hufflepuff. But then, then it should be Gryffindor. Yes. Still, they didn't really delve right into the subject there so it was still slightly awkward just standing there. "Do you have any plans for the rest of the day?" Lewis finally asked for lack of anything better to say. That was another normal smalltalk-topic right? |
Quote:
When they somehow got onto the subject of Quidditch, Selina nearly jumped for joy. It was a conversation that Selina could talk about even in the lowest of spirits, and lately she was not in the best of spirits. The fall out with Gideon had put the damper on her mood, but she was not going to let it roadblock her life- no matter how much she wanted it to. So she would talk about Quidditch with Lewis. It was safe and at the same time normal enough were they could both pretend that their was not a cloak of awkwardness looming over their conversation. Quidditch, right. "Yeah I am doing a better job of handling it this year. First year handling a team is really hard. But I've gotten better at controlling it and managing it. To the best of my ability at least." That was all true; although, she was still having trouble taking on quite the Captain seat. She was not really a leader when it came to the game, she was part of the team so most of the time she had a hard time instilling the fear of Merlin in their hearts at practices. Selina was far too silly to take anything too seriously that was supposed to be fun. Did she have plans for the rest of the day? Honestly, she was going to see if Kurumi could keep her busy with studying or something to keep her mind off of her and Gideon's fall out, but she did not know if her best friend was busy...or hanging out with Lewis. She seemed to be doing that a lot lately. So Selina replied honestly, "I was going to see if Kurumi wanted to hang out... but she's been preoccupied as of late," Lewis. |
Oh, so Selina thought it was her fault that they hadn't won last year? Lewis didn't know anything about that since he obviously hadn't been present at their practices or anything but he somehow liked that she was obviously taking responsibility for her team. Still... "Your team is pretty good though." Or had been last year. From what he remembered from their match against them and watching them play in their other matches. It was just...others had been better somehow. Even though Anya was just epic. Alec had had a lot of difficulties beating her to the snitch. Leaning against the bookshelf carefully - he didn't want it to fall over after all - Lewis chewed on his lower lip thoughtfully for a moment. Somehow he felt he still had to say something else about Quidditch. "I-I think you're a good Captain too by the way." And this was something which Lewis Rasting very rarely did. He'd just said that to make her feel better, since he had absolutely no idea how she was handling her team, nor if she was well-liked among her players. No, he'd just felt the need to say that. Because he WAS pretty sure that it wasn't all her fault that the Gryffindor Quidditch team hadn't won last year. There were a lot of contributing factors. The more he thought about the question, the sillier it sounded to him. He really could have come up with a better one to break the awkward silence which had succeeded their conversation about Quidditch. Probably even the weather would have been better. As it were though, there was no way of taking it back and Selina didn't seem too taken aback it either. So maybe he wasn't all too bad at this smalltalk thing after all. Which may have just gotten something more than smalltalk, with her bringing up Kurumi. "Oh, I'm sorry." Why was Kurumi preoccupied late- "Oh, I am sorry." The first time he'd just said it as a sign of empathy since Selina had sounded like she hadn't got to spend much time with her best friend lately. The second time he apologized was a lot more personal since it became more and more obvious WHY Kurumi hadn't had as much time for Selina. Blushing a little, Lewis went back to chewing on his lip and averting his gaze elsewhere. "I...I wanted to thank you, by the way." He paused to look back up at her, meeting her gaze steadily. Before he went on, he wanted to make sure that she wasn't mad at him for taking up so much of Kurumi's time. |
SPOILER!!: Lewis The redhead started to aimlessly play with the ends of her hair as she waited for Lewis to say something. The endless pauses that kept occurring in their conversation was maddening. It was true that the two of them did not know one another well and that the only real conversation they had ever had was one that was not a pleasant topic of conversation, but she was slightly surprised at how slow their conversation was moving. It was as if the pair of them were tip-toeing on fragile ice not wanting to shatter it into a million pieces. There was too much going on for them in their minds to even move beyond small talk. She hoped that one day they would move past this awkward format of conversation because she had a feeling that Kurumi was not going to shake Lewis anytime soon. He was around to stay so the pair of them had to learn to deal with one another. But she hoped that they would eventually like each other enough to be friends. Then he finally came to his senses and said something about Quidditch returning the pace of their conversation. And she smiled at him when he complimented her team. It was nice of him to say that about her team, but she could see in his face that he was confused as to why she had taken responsibility about her team. He of all people, being a prefect, should have understood her rational on that subject. When you are a leader it isn't about how you are as a personal player, it is how you take care of your team. She had let them down last term, ergo it was a lot of her fault that they turned out the way they did. And then he said that he thought she was a good captain. Her smile turned from curt to genuine in a matter of moments. It was always nice to hear that people appreciated what Selina did out on the Pitch. She loved being Captain and centered her life on what she had to do on the Pitch, but sometimes people did not notice all of the work she put into it. Of course, Lewis had no idea what kind of Captain she was and what she did on the Pitch so everything he said was out niceties, but it still made her smile, "Thanks for that... seriously." But then Kurumi came into the conversation as both of them knew she would eventually. Between the two of them she was the only real link that they had. They had not been friends before the incident between her best friend and two boys and they were not really friends now. She respected him and thought well on Lewis, although he had done a stupid thing, but she did not know him. So it was only a matter of time before Kurumi came into conversation. When he said he was sorry she waved it off and said, "Nah, don't worry about it. Suppose I should be thanking you for pulling her out of the darkness or whatever. I owe you one." There was no need to thank her... she was just doing what best friends were supposed to do. And that was be there for one another. |
While Lewis usually wasn't as good at reading faical expressions, the way Selina's smile changed slightly to not go unnoticed. The compliment had served its purpose and he was glad that he'd actually managed to make it come across the right way. "You're welcome." No need to thank him really but he smiled nonetheless, glancing at something behind her for a moment while he tried to stop the blush from creeping onto his cheeks. It was still a little awkward, being here with Selina after everything that had happened the last few months. So there definitely was the urge to say goodbye, escape and hope that they would never ever meet again without anybody else around. Only he wasn't going to leave any time soon. He really did want to get to know the Gryffindor. And he was quite surprised to realize that it wasn't only because she was Kurumi's best friend. No, but rather because he knew that she was a good person. That she was worth getting to know. She was definitely good to have around. And not only during crises. Just in general. Lewis was genuinely hoping that the two of them would get over the whole awkwardness and maybe even become friends eventually. Which was why he was going to try and do his best to ignore the tension in the air surrounding them. It was weird talking about Kurumi like that. It was making him feel all nervous and awkward inside. Biting down on his lip, Lewis shook his head when she said that SHE should be thanking HIM. "No, don't. It was all you. Or well...it was...teamwork maybe." For lack of a better word. Because it hadn't been all Selina. Even though, he still didn't quite understand what he'd done to elicit all those changes in Kurumi, to make her come back out of her dark place, to make her abilities come back. He didn't know what he'd done. But he HAD done something, that much he knew. "You don't owe me anything." He frowned a little at her words, taking a small step forward before stopping himself and going back to chewing on his lip. What was she talking about? He hadn't done it - whatever IT was - for her. Therefore, she didn't owe him anything. Besides, she couldn't exactly reciprocate what he'd allegedly done for her. There hopefully would never be a situation like this one ever again. |
SPOILER!!: Lewis... :P Teamwork? Selina chuckled and crossed her arms so she could lean against a bookshelf. Teamwork was an interesting way to put it, if they could even call it that. When Selina thought of the word teamwork it was always associated with academia and sports, never bringing someone back from their darkest hour. And it was Kurumi's darkest hour. But she supposed if Lewis wanted to be loose with the interpretation of teamwork then they could classify what the two of them did as teamwork. So she supposed they were teammates, "Yeah, I guess you could call it that... In a way." And then Lewis became dreadfully serious when he said that she owed him nothing. Modesty was commendable, but Selina was not a huge fan of misery especially when it involved things that she was genuine about. There would have been no way that Selina could have fixed Kurumi on her own. She was like a broken carriage. Selina could put all of the pieces back together so they looked nice, but she could not make them work. That was what Lewid had done- he made her live again. That was debt she could never repay and even if he did not comprehend the levity of what he had done for Selina. He had brought her best friend back to her... And if he wanted to be modest she was going to ignore him. So she rolled her eyes and said, "I owe you more than you know. Don't be modest, it's not a good color on anyone, especially you." She would rather he just say thanks and let it die. Besides, she was already uncomfortable no need to make it worse. Just say thanks Lewis. |
Lewis eyes widened slightly in surprise when he heard her chuckle, but he couldn't quite stop himself from smiling softly either. It was slighlty weird referring to what they'd both done to get Kurumi out of that dark place in her head as teamwork. It sounded like they'd worked together scoring a goal during a Quidditch match or something. "In a way, yes." Heh. However, somehow Lewis couldn't think of a better way to describe it. It HAD been team work to a some extent. Even if the word's connotations might make him think of sports or something equally trivial. Teamwork implied that they'd worked together to achieve something - which was exactly what they had done. Frowning some more as she rolled her eyes at him, Lewis might have even huffed softly, not really liking where this was going. "I'm not being modest." And modest wasn't a color was it? HUH?! "I'm serious." See? He even took another small step towards her, cocking his head slightly to the side while nodding slowly. "I couldn't have done it without you...I didn't even do anything." He was back to chewing on his lip thoughtfully, his eyes on something behind Selina as he tried to figure this out. "I...I still don't know how I helped her, you know." At this his eyes were back on the Gryffindor's face, widening a little as he watched her expectantly. Maybe she would know. "I didn't do anything..." He repeated softly. It was true. He didn't know WHAT he had done. All he knew was that he had allegedly done SOMETHING. Only what? |
Anyone... Emmanuelle was just wondering down the aisles between the bookshelves looking for any book that popped out at her (though hopefully not literally). No particular type of book, just a book. She was desperate for anything to read. Quite pathetic really. But she just wanted something to do. She was finished with her homework, there was nothing going on in the castle and it was too cold to go outside. Sigh. Couldn't the professors have gotten together and planed some sort of event? Or the prefects even? Besides all the protesting, flora watching, and dragon babying, that is. Maybe she was wanting too much. The professors were probably too busy with all the stuff that was going on. Which meant that the students would have to create their own fun. Suddenly, Emmanuelle had an idea. One problem. She didn't know if anyone would be interested or not. Or how to get the materials for said idea. She needed some help. So, now instead of wondering through the shelves in the library looking for a book, she was wondering the shelves looking for a fellow student. Preferably a prefect. Which was helped by the fact that she was peeking down each aisle calling "Is anybody there?" in a half whispering voice. Well you never knew who had an invisibility cloak or was just EXTREMELY good at hiding... |
Quote:
She ran her hand along a few spines of books, wondering which would call to her next... When someone spoke. Elliot didn't know where the voice was coming from...but...she smirked evilly to herself, and replied, in an equally small whisper, "No...no one is here...." heehee. Elliot wanted to LAUGH SO BADLY. But she didn't! |

"Booooo..." Heh. |
Autumn thought the best way to start as a libary technician was making sure the books were in correct condition and in the correct order, anyway she needed some time to herself. She heard some people speak a bit to loudly, but it was her first day, and she didn't really want to tell people off. Autumn looked up at the section she'd start with, she sighed in a good way, this would be calming. Okay so she was in the history section, which was extensive. Autumn read the back of the spines, not finding any books that were out of place "Goblin rebellion, Goblins time has come, Goblins and there history...Wait that's not right." She muttered to herself, she pulled out the book, which looked as though it hadn't been touched in a while, she dusted it off and inspected it, no damages, but she didn't expect there to be, she opened the cover..It was an oldish book, but only 4 people had ever checked it out, it was interesting to see the names of the past witches and wizards that had been taking diffrent books out. Autumn found the spot the book should go and pushed the book to the right of them down, so she could fit the rather thick book in. She continued this for half an hour, she pulled out a book that from the spine looked in fine condition, it had gold writing on it which said 'Indepth history of the ministry' It looked very interesting, so autumn considerd checking it out, but when she pulled it out, she noticed (well it was hard to miss) a big rip down the middle, how could someone violate a book like that? She pulled out her wand and pointed it directly at the book "reparo libra" And the rip wa magicly repaired, you could see a faint line where it had been ripped, but once changed a book will never be the same again in Autumn's eye. She popped the book back where it should be and continued sorting. |

Then, she felt something on her shoulder. Elliot jumped, a gasp escaping her mouth. She quickly turned around, saw the girl, and smirked...pretending like her fear did not just happen. "I wasn't really scared, you know.." Yeah. Riiiiiight. But Elliot would never openly admit it. |

IGNORE. Elliot immediately flashed a smirk, and, ignoring the previous statement made by the other girl, said, "My name is Elliot. Elliot Morganzo. Third year, Ravenclaw. And you are...?" she asked, placing her hands on her hips haughtily. She spotted the green. A Slytherin... Elliot liked slytherin. It was the second best house, after all. "And why were you looking for people in the library?" yep, why? Because anyone who is in the library usually wants to be alone. But Elliot just needed a walk. So to the library she went! |
Quote:
"Emmanuelle Moreau, sixth year Slytherin." After all, it was customary to introduce oneself after the other person had, right? And was the little Ravenclaw getting haughty with her? Well, no one could out haughty a French Slytherin. Emmanuelle stared down her nose at the other girl in her way that always made people unsettled. "I was looking for someone to help with a plan of mine..." she replied, offhandedly, staring at her nails while she spoke. |
Quote:
Take a picture...it lasts longer... hmph. Plan? "what kind of plan? Nobody wants to commit to an unknown plan," only if Elliot knew this...plan would she partake. If the other girl was lucky, she'd have the help of a VERY AWESOME Ravenclaw. Yeaaaah. |
Sarah was eager to help in the library -she loved books. One particular book caught her eyes, the spine read Break with a Ba*s**e by Gilderoy Lockhart a simple defacing on the words. Sarah took out her wand and "Reparo libra" she said, tapping the damaged spot in circular motions.. it worked! The book was all nice now -ready for the next reader, the spine now reading Break with a Banshee by Gilderoy Lockhart. Sarah had yet to read that book, but apparently the Lockheart later admitted that he had never met a banshee and it was all a hoax. |
