Forget hearts and chocolates, February's new hip holiday is Kite Flying Day!
As you amble on across the grounds and over to the kite-flying station, you'll find an open expanse of land that is designated for - you guessed it - flying your spectacular, newly-decorated kites. The sky is clear and the grounds are free from the nuisance of snow and slush. Kick back and relax as you let your kites set sail against the gusty air, maybe chat with a few friends - just don't let your strings get all tied up!
So, grab your kite and LEEEEEEET'S GOOOOOOO FLYYYYYY A KITE!
Sierra didn't allow people to see the less confident side of her often, and it might be quite a while before Kennedy saw it again. Maybe not ever. She didn't know. It was still too early to tell. Right now, she knew she was in trouble when his face fell into a frown, and she realized all she wanted to do something to make him smile again.
Ugh. She was turning into a Puffer.
She found herself looking up at him with her big, brown eyes, waiting for reassurance. When it came, she released a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding in. Slowly, she fel the cool, confident Sierra start to come back. When she was sure it had, she grinned and reached out for his arm. Holding it up a little, she linked her own arm through it then let both their arms fall into a natural position. She wished he'd held her hand, but somehow, this was feeling just as special.
"I didn't mean to question you, and I should have just trusted you," she said. "Not that I don't trust you, because...I do. It's just..." She came really close then to telling him he was the closest to a boyfriend she'd ever had, and that this whole thing was new to her in every way. She was barely sixteen and had just been asked out on her first date. "How about I just leave all thoughts of you and Aurora in the past?"
Kennedy had to admit it. The way she looked up at him with those big, brown eyes of hers caused his heart to flutter like a Golden Snitch. And when she did that it also made it hard for him to look away, but he did only to look down when she linked their arms together.
He couldn't help the grin that tugged at lips. "It's fine, Sierra," he said, honestly. If it had been someone else asking about Aurora and him then he would have told them off in the politest way he could or not or just ignored them, but...come on, this was Sierra. He didn't want her thinking other things after he finally managed to catch her eye. He nodded at what she said next, beginning to walk toward the picnic area. "Deal...but," he stopped, turning to her and looking straight at her eyes. "You know you could ask me anything and I'll answer you with the truth." he grinned. He wasn't going soft on her, he was just letting her know that if she ever had doubts she could always go to him.
Plus, gossip at Hogwarts seemed to spread like a wild fire, so trust was golden in those occasions.

You know you could ask me anything and I'll answer you with the truth...
When Kennedy said that, Sierra just looked at him as if he'd promised her one of the greatest gifts he could ever give her. In a way, he had. He'd promised her truth, a trust that she was unintentionally seeking. She believed him when it came to Aurora, and although that'd been an issue with her up until now, it wasn't anymore.
"You know, Kennedy, I believe you. I do," she said, walking along. Where were they headed again? Right now it just seemed like they were walking along, lost in their conversation. They'd end up somewhere.
Hopefully not in the middle of the Black Lake...
"...and look, I don't know what you've heard about me, but I'm not all that bad. It's just my Slytherin nature most people see, but underneath that, I'm just your normal fifteen-year-old. Well, ...sixteen now, actually," she said, remembering she'd just had a birthday. "I guess what I'm trying to say is...I can promise a truth, too."

Kennedy looked sideways as they walked and smiled at Sierra. "I'm glad. I really am," he said. He was glad she believed him and that was something he wouldn't betray. He might not be a Hufflepuff, but he always kept his word...which was just as important in his books.
The Prefect frowned in an amused sort of way, yet another grin tugging at the corner of his mouth. Yeah, he's heard a fair share of what people thought Sierra was like. And all those times he's disagreed with them because he didn't care of what they thought. "I don't listen to what others say about you. They haven't got to know you like I have." He wasn't saying he knew knew her because there was a lot he still wanted to learn about her, but he had a feeling she hasn't shared things she's told him with others. "Plus, I like your attitude." Now that was something he wouldn't change, hehe.
About to speak again, Kennedy paused, his lips slightly parted. "You've had a birthday?" Of course, she has one, but a recent one he didn't KNOW about. Well, in this case a picnic was not enough. He got a twinkle in his green eyes and grinned mischievously. "You wouldn't mind a change of plans, would you?" He unhooked his arm from hers and instead linked their hands together, walking a different direction.
If she did mind she could stop him whenever she wanted.
