As you walk into the History of Magic classroom the first thing you notice is how warm the usual drafty room seems to be despite the lack of a fireplace, in fact some people would call it down right welcoming.
Professor Scabior is uncharacteristically not by his desk, instead he looms right by the door offering the faintest of smiles at you as you enter. "Morning."
The desks have once again been re-arranged so that four desks are alligned per row, just to give the classroom a slightly different look. Sadly, no colourful inks or fancy quills were on the desks this time, but that didn't mean nothing was placed on them. Upon the middle of each desk rested a world map, detailed and filled with its own kind of information.
Kindly take your seat and lower your voices, after all, there is no reason why points should be lost today.
OOC: Class has started now, please no posts announcing late arrivals, as that will result in lost of points. If you want to join in, I encourage you to! Just act as though your character was there all along.
Well this was getting all just abit Confused.Trying to regain his focus he took a deep breath and raised his hand.''I don't think so sir.To me it seems like because why it all ended up like it did it seems magical.''He explained.
When the chamber of secrets opened... second wizarding world war...
Louisa was staring back at the professor, only not defiantly or annoyed like he was, she was processing his words. The ten points loss didn't phase her, she saw this coming. "I wasn't trying to annoy you, professor." Was it even allowed for professors to take points if someone annoys them? Louisa didn't give much thought to that... she would've gone to her Head of House if he wasn't FROZEN. "I was just voicing my thoughts and concerns." She wanted to stick her tongue out at him so bad right now.
Why did he mention the opening of chamber of secrets, though? Did their research and debates lead to it? Was it mentioned? Are they investigating about another Basilisk in the school? But that was silly... those frozen people were not all muggleborns... and they wouldn't freeze in the middle of a crowd.
"Classes were ceased temporarily when people found out about the Basilisk, isn't that right sir?" He was the one to tell them so last term when they went down there. "Shouldn't they stop now, too, since apparently no one knows the reason behind the freezing?" Aaaaaaand she definitely wasn't going to survive the lesson. Should've written her will and everything.
But she wasn't going to go out and leave the frozen kid either. That was the main reason she spoke in the first place!
.... unless he asked her to leave. Or threw her out. Or put a Silencio spell on her.
...and as Erin heard so many voices from Ravenclaw reasoning out to the Professor about the frozen kid, she already knew that something bad would happen sooner or later. First it was only Louisa which triggered other thoughts to come out from their mouths.
WHAT? Those were precious house points and Professor Scabior just took them away? Now, she wouldn't dare voice out her opinions about the matter. She knew that this professor would stick to what he was saying and he wouldn't let anything or anyone stop him from doing his job.
SPOILER!!: Professor

Since it was lost, probably people won't be able to say it actually existed or exists in the present time because they couldn't see it. "I think, Atlantis City was covered with confusion because no one could really proved that it really existed. There were stories and books about it but there were no texts that describe about an exploration in the place. I also don't think that it was some kind of a Muggle City because there were rumors that it was underwater and there were also stories that there were actually creatures living in it," Erin paused for a while to take a deep breath and then continued,"So, if the city was underwater, there wouldn't be any possible way for something, unless it was a sea creature, to live in it. Therefore, I can conclude that it was magical in many ways. Of course, that will be, if the rumors were true."

Ella felt really bad that people were losing points for sticking up for the Gryffindor seeker. She found her eyes wandering over to the girl, a frown forming immediately. Why was this happening to people? What caused it? And why hadn't anyone found a way of preventing it from happening again? She understood Scabior's point though, even if she didn't like it. If they moved the girl, they could hurt her. And that was if this freezing thing hadn't hurt her already. Best to wait for the healer because she'd know what to do, right?
Ella was sure confused about the whole Atlantis debate so she understood why others would be as well. On the one hand, it wasn't out of the question that a city could be swallowed by a body of water. A natural disaster could do that...however the fact that there were no clear cut facts about the city was questionable. "Professor, I guess there could be a lot of confusion because the person who first wrote about Atlantis could have been influenced by other things in history and therefore it is more of a fictional tale drawing from real things..." If that made any sense at all.

Keefer just stared at Louisa. Is she TRYING to lose Ravenclaw half its points? Surely she must realize that Scabior was NOT in the mood to have his methods questioned.
But back to the academic content. No, Atlantis certainly didn't seem normal. "It sounds like a wizarding community that hid itself after the Statute of Secrecy. Only... this is far more elaborate, so maybe not. But either way, magic is almost definitely involved."
Ravenclaw was actually losing points for trying to help Anya. Wow, Professor must not like Louisa right now. But Nigel couldn't do anything except probably lose more points. He did send for the nurse though so at least he is trying to help. So Nigel decided to just answer to Professor question again.
"Professor, there is a lot of confusion because some people claim Plato drew up Atlantis from his memories. And Professor could Atlantis be unplottable like Hogwarts to protect itself?"

"Because.." Daichi began but stopped when the man was taking house points from the other students like it was christmas eve. But instead of giving presents he took them. His mouth hang open slightly and his mind raced with the thought if he should say it or not. The ones having lost their points were not from Slytherin. And his house was still at the first place and Daichi liked that spot.
With a small, almost defeated sigh he shook his head. "I'm guessing you wouldn't...Sorry, Professor" mweh what had he been thinking? going against a Professor not to mention Scabior.
Sorry rebellion kids, this snake loved the first place spot and did NOT want a detention, you're on your own~
As for the question.. he had no idea. Couldn't they talk about something more interesting? Like where ducks came from? now THAT was a class he wouldn't want to miss hehe. "I don't think it's a muggle city, sir... because.." because why?
Daichi wondered for a few seconds, staring in to space and frowning a little bit in concentration. Why? "I have no clue" maybe he should start taking notes now.

Minerva had thought about this and put her hand up still glancing at the frozen girl a few times. "Professor I don't think it is a muggle city. Greek gods were not muggles and if this city is based around them, then it couldn't be your normal city. For muggles at least it is a myth that no one can truly find proof if it is real or not." She hoped that answer was good enough, she didn't know much about the city other then what she saw on movies.

Laura looked at the Professor and smiled well that was another easy one. "Professor because the place isn't on a map and the people who knew where it was are dead as they died years ago, either in the floods or whatever it was or those who were out of the city on vacation will have died long before now and since they weren't into making maps they could tell you exactly where the place was." Laura smiled. "So basically because there was no maps they only have rumours of where the place was."
Laura glanced over towards her friend Anya and hoped that she would be okay why hadn't the Professor done a spell to release her surely he should know one.

Scabior peered through the door, looking to see if he could spot any more students, some rushing late to class. The hall was strangely empty. No one there. With that finally look he pushed the door shut, anyone who entered now would be official dubbed as late.
"Morning, morning." Scabior repeated again as he made his way to the front of the class. "I think its about time we got started." Everyone on time was here and he was ready to begin.
"I hope all of you have at least glanced at the maps on your desk." If not, well then it didn't matter. "If you tap your wand against it twice on the country of your choosing it will enlarge to display the cities." A little tidbit of knowledge there.
Only when he was up at the front and comfortably leaning against his desk did Scabior speak again. "Now," He paused, hoping that everyone was paying attention. "Which city and country are each of you from?" Born in, or just lived in. It didn't really matter, just where they felt like they were from.
Maps were not described as handsome?
Lea smirked. ''Oh they aren't?'' she said not really expecting the professor to reply to the question. If he would, the little girl's answer was ready. She would rather describe the map handsome it was that simple. It really was handsome if it had properties like the professor was talking about anyway. Curious, Lea tapped on Australia and she now had a larger map of the little continent.
Then he was asking a question. Which city and country was she from? That was easy. ''Dorset, England.''

The History of Magic Professor flicked his wand, drawing a large identical world map to the one on the students desks up onto the board. Each time a new city and country was said, Scabior tapped his wand, putting a red dot on the map where said city was located.
Switzerland. Denmark. Japan. United States. Guyana. Canada. Brazil. France. Great Britain. All countries where students in the class came from. Once everyone was finished he took a small step back to look at the map. "A lot more foreigners than I thought." Way more in fact. As an afterthought, Scabior tapped his wand, causing another dot to appear in the large town where he was born. "I myself am from Paisley, Scotland." Good place. Good place. Mostly just because he was born there, no other reason really.
He gave a nod to his fellow Scots.
"So-" He turned back to the class. "-Cities are cities. Sturdy and all that." Obviously, since they were on land. "And you all have some sort of connection to a certain city or town." Well hopefully. "You lot, answer me this" He paused "How do you lose a city?
Lea's dark brown eyes followed Professor Handsome's wand as he tapped on the big map. Wow, lots of countries. There really were many foreigners in Hogwarts. She was not surprised though. She heard that Hogwarts was one of the best in the world and that was the proof. Lea felt proud. She was in the best house in the school which was one of the best in the world: Gryffindor.
And yes, Prof Handsome was right. Cities were cities. Lea definitely agreed with that. But...how could one lose a city?
The Gryffindor girl jumped up enthusiastically. ''It can be attacked by a huge dragon and it would destroy it!!''
RAWR. HAHA.
Then what?
Did someone just say that Anya froze? Quickly, Lea looked around to find her friend.

The bird made a round around the classroom before quickly disappearing out the door.
Right, back to teaching. Scabior cleared his throat. "Back to the lesson then, the Healer will be here momentarily." Hopefully. Yes ignore the frozen girl. His good mood had vanished and quickly.
"Many of you had very good answers. Some of you we might actually touch upon." Later, hoping that no one else froze in his class. "Please remember though, a city being destroyed is completely different from one being lost." A note to all of you who said something along the lines of Hurricanes or Tsunamis.
"Today's lesson will be on something that some of you mentioned, the city of Atlantis." Good job to those who mentioned it, but it wasn't the hard to guess."There are many stories and myths behind the city, some true, and some not so true. But right now I just want to know what you know about the apparent lost city?"
Lea did not know what to do. She did not know if anything could be done, either. Maybe not since the professor was not doing anything, apparently. She carefully looked at Anya, looking at her wide eyes. She did not look like she was in pain or something. It was just like time for her was stopped. Lea did not like it though, still she had to turn back because Professor Scabior was going on with the class.
She did not like going on with the class while her friend was frozen like nothing had happened. But also apparently there was nothing to do and...she just looked back at the professor trying to focus on him, not Anya and the fact that she was frozen.
Atlantis. Yes.
''All i know is that Atlantis was a wealthy city then...one day it was gone.''
Obviously she was unable to think when Anya was frozen back there. Still the class was going on and it was Professor Handsome's class. So the girl did her best to focus and forget the frozen Anya. 'There's nothing to do' she repeated in her mind. Her gaze was on the professor as he got all 'RAWR' on some people who did not think continuing the class was right and went on with the class. The Ravenclaw girl whose last name was the same as hers was still arguing with the professor. She did not like the fact that she dared to argue with him and she felt like arguing with her because of it but...
...but Anya was frozen.
Unable to help in anymore, Lea jumped to her feet and ran to Anya's desk after stumbling upon her bag on the floor. ''ANYAAA!!!'' then she grabbed her friend's shoulders and shoke her hard. ''WAKE UPP!''

The hand went up again, but only for long enough to say, "Its a Mer-city." You know, if that is what Merpeople called their cities? He wasn't sure.
There were much cooler lost cities than that one anyways. Ones that weren't even underwater. Ones that you didn't need to be able to speak mermish to go play tourist in.
West's eyes shifted to that frozen girl and he resisted the urge to use her as a clothes rack or something. That would be fun.

Hannah had no idea what was going on around her and quite frankly she didn't care. It didn't have anything to do with her or anybody that she considered of importance so she went right along like nothing happened. She stared at some of the students who had the nerve to talk crazy with the professor...honestly didn't people have any home training?
Anyways...
Back to the topic at hand. "Professor I think there is a lot of confusion because for one some people simply don't believe that it ever existed. Some people have to see it to believe it. I also don't think that it is a normal muggle city." Honestly anything a little bit different or magical can't be muggle related. That much she was sure of.

It was a big deal, but certainly not big enough to interrupt his class over. And so continuing made more than enough sense.
However the great Louisa Carter did not seem to think so.
"Oh?" Scabior raised a brow, not so much as blinking at her outburst. "How silly of me then to try and continue educating you in this school. What would you have me do Miss Carter? End class early?" Oh yes, he had heard about the Potions class that ended early a few days ago due to freezing. "Yes. Wise idea. Ending class early will be such a benefit to Miss Phillips over there. I'm sure that ending the class will just solve everything and result in her jumping for joy." He paused, still staring at the Ravenclaw.
"Or perhaps you wouldn't like just one class ending. Perhaps all classes should be put to a stop. Yes, just like when the chamber of secrets opened and the second wizarding world was going on, or even when that one student died a few years back. - Wait...classes didn't end those times at all...silly of me to think so." The reality of it, was that Scabior really wasn't trying to belittle her, he was just telling the truth, in his way. "Despite what you might say,I am certain that you are not blind or deaf Miss Carter, and so you saw my Patronus and heard me say that the Healer would be here momentarily. Attempting to move or disturb Miss Phillips without the proper knowledge how do might be disastrous."
Since that was all said and done, "Ten points from Ravenclaw for just annoying me, and if you do not like the fact that I am trying to teach, leave." There was the door, kindly exit it.
"Ten points from you for being an idiot" If HAD been listening to what was going on in the class he probably would have been able to correct himself in bother fronts. The city, and the apparent 'petrified' student.
"You would like to wait, for the Healer? Is that not what we are doing right now Miss Greenwell? Waiting and learning. Unless you would rather wait in silence twiddling your thumbs." No. He wasn't going to waste his own time.
Cover her up? "No, she will stay as is." His voice was a little more patient, accommodating to what seemed like one of the handful of Ravenclaws that didn't want to push their luck. "We want to make sure that Miss Tilstorm finds her exactly how she froze." Not distributed or covered up.
"That's nice. Now tell me why I would care?" Please go on, duck boy.
"Oh?" Another brow was raised. "Can't I? Wow. I wasn't aware that as a Professor I was not allowed to continue my own class upon my own choosing." Really, that was a shock. He didn't know that. "Ten points from Hufflepuff Miss Reyes for so rudely informing me of what I can and can not do."

*gaspeth!groaaan* That was 20 points down for the Eagles.
Vickers let his eyes drop to the ground. They were valid points on both sides of the argument, just that perhaps this could've played out better. From beneath his lashes he glanced at the frozen Gryffindor girl. He wished he knew her better, would've wanted to tell her his house took a hit for defending her at her hour of need.
Chivalry isnt just for the Gryffindors anymore.
Quelling a sigh, he refocused on the task at hand, scribbling his notes as the Professor carried on. He looked up to ponder the next questions, trying to bring into clarity all those things he's read about Atlantis. Up goes the hand again "Professor, part of the confusion is because the account of the demise of Atlantis was done during Plato's time, which was about 360 BC. " A really, REALLY long time ago "... and back then most of the news were passed on via word-of-mouth, with facts and specifics usually being sacrificed in favor of dramatic, story-telling embellishments. It was hard enough to get written accounts, much less something accurate. Also, it was never recorded what happened to Atlantis' survivors-- if anyone survived at all-- which would've been an important thing since they would be the only proof left of a civilization that once existed." He paused as he considered his answer for the next question "Its difficult to determine if Atlantis was Muggle or Magical, given that researches are still looking for the archeological remains of the site, but part of its legend is that it was a powerful civilization that was far more advanced than any of its contemporaries at the time. Which perhaps is part of its mystery-- with a civilization reportedly so advanced, it was hard to believe they would just disappear off the face of the Earth."

Alyssa thought about what she read before raising her hand.
"Professor from what is known about Atlantis I believe that it was a muggle city. It was a very industrious port and rich city and they did what most other cities back in those days did, they tried to attack other cities, which sounds like regular muggle stuff."
She thought for awhile before continuing,"But that doesn't mean that they didn't pray and worship their Greek Gods. They believed strongly in them and often asked for protection and blessings and performed rituals whenever they did something.Their lives were strongly steeped in their beliefs."
"According to legend, it is believed that Atlantis sank because what they did had angered their Gods. If the Greek Gods were believed to exist during Atlantis' existence does that automatically make them a magical city?Alyssa asked.
"I mean many of the other civilizations believed in their Gods and Godesses like Rome and Egypt but they were muggles, weren't they?"Alyssa asked now getting confused.

Then Scabior got scary all of a sudden. Yikes! But Marshall could see why. Some Gryffindor girl had frozen up in the middle of the lesson and a handful of students were going bezerk. Another one had bit the dust. But what was the big deal? The healer would take the girl away and help her soon. And why doubt Scabior’s skills? Marshall was sure that the man could help her, but his purpose here was to teach, not be the knight in shining amour for frozen girls.
Gosh! They just didn’t get it. And sadly some of those people were fellow Ravenclaws.
“Muggles may have lived in Atlantis before it sank. But they obviously don’t anymore, if they did, since they can’t find it,” Marshall responded with a hand raised in the air. “The city has to be unplottable, which would explain all the confusion. It’s not meant to be found by specific people.”
Selina wanted to throw something at the snotty and careless professor. The redhead had been quiet the entire lesson because she had been preoccupied with the thought of Kurumi in the hospital wing. Life without her best friend had been difficult to say the least and now he was just making things worse. So when Anya froze, Selina wanted to stand up and run over to her little second year friend little sister but the reaction Scabior gave when people cared kept her in her seat. However, Selina did feel her knuckles grow white at how tightly she was holding onto her book. It was like her muscles wanted to chuck the book at Scabior's head so he could be frozen with a concussion and then maybe he would be more compassionate. Jerk.
But the redhead kept her line of vision focused on Anya instead- he was not worth the house points. She needed Anya back and she needed her back now. This dumb freezing thing was taking everyone she cared about away, but she was staying positive. Anya would wake up in a few minutes and Kurumi would be fine- heck she'd even throw Lewis and Sierra in there as well. This was so DUMB!! Why weren't the professors doing anything? They didn't care and she wanted them to fix this! What kind of message was the staff sending their students if they did not care about the students? Not a good one.
With a sneer on her face she rose her hand and said, "Atlantis, sir, was a real muggle city. Many people believe that Vergil and Homer in their epics spoke about Atlantis... It was a real place and got displayed by water.". Thee. She answered.

Since the last thing she wanted was to lose points, the girl raised her hand, but she barely found her voice as she spoke. "Not really, professor. I think there might have been something magical about it."

And if it was a magical city, maybe it apparates as a whole somehow...?
Scabior nodded. "Have you noticed that a lot of people seem to have read things that differ quite a bit?"

WHAT? Those were precious house points and Professor Scabior just took them away? Now, she wouldn't dare voice out her opinions about the matter. She knew that this professor would stick to what he was saying and he wouldn't let anything or anyone stop him from doing his job.
Finally, an explanation of thoughts. And a great one at that. "Right, and in so many ways."

He thought about the answer for a second. "That makes a lot of sense, yes."

But back to the academic content. No, Atlantis certainly didn't seem normal. "It sounds like a wizarding community that hid itself after the Statute of Secrecy. Only... this is far more elaborate, so maybe not. But either way, magic is almost definitely involved."
"Ah. But The Statute wasn't even a thought then."

"Professor, there is a lot of confusion because some people claim Plato drew up Atlantis from his memories. And Professor could Atlantis be unplottable like Hogwarts to protect itself?"
"Yes, some people do claim that." As for the unplottable. "You are very much on the right track"

Daichi wondered for a few seconds, staring in to space and frowning a little bit in concentration. Why? "I have no clue" maybe he should start taking notes now.
Exactly what he thought. And an apology as well, good. But he wasn't contributing anything to the class. "You keep on thinking about that then."

Laura smiled. "So basically because there was no maps they only have rumours of where the place was."
Laura glanced over towards her friend Anya and hoped that she would be okay why hadn't the Professor done a spell to release her surely he should know one.
He nodded. Yes. "Exactly. When a location isn't on a map people start becoming confused."

West's eyes shifted to that frozen girl and he resisted the urge to use her as a clothes rack or something. That would be fun.
Mister one word answers. It seemed to be a special occasion."Mer-city." Scabior repeated, not showing any signs of agreement or disagreement. "But what about when it was above ground?"

"That is true. Hard to believe that something existed when only one man really wrote about it."

Scabior nodded. "Do you really believe that?" He asked raising a brow. ALL of that? "That even with the lack of written use a city could just up and vanish?" Under the sea? Not one surviver?

She seemed to confuse herself more than answering the question. Ah. Scabior couldn't blame her. "Alright, alright. Relax." Too many questions for him now. But her reasons to back up her thoughts seemed solid to her. "The Greek gods were Muggle creations, but that doesn't mean it was a Muggle city."

He nodded. "They may have yes." Then the boy said something that made Scabior smirk. "You are right about that."

"People believe they spoke about it? That doesn't sound like real proof at all."

"That is nice to know. However your thoughts and concerns aren't exactly wanted right now unless they have to do with today's lesson." That was the truth. It was time to shut up unless she had something to say about Atlantis.
Was she attempting to use something that he had taught them, to argue her point to him? Scabior gave a cold bitter laugh."That is right Miss Carter. However classes were ceased because a giant creature that has the possibility of killing people was getting around the classes in an unknown way. It was just safer to have people in one place." This though? This freezing? "Students are not freezing because of a creature out on the attack." How was this known? Simple. The targeted just seemed to freeze...anywhere.
"Students are freezing. Yes. No one knows why, yes. But the reason isn't going to be less likely if you are in class or not. There is no direct threat." AND SO class would continue.
Was this done now? Yes? "You are free to disagree with me, but the next time you speak up about something that has no relation to this lesson your house will be losing fifty more points."

Just when he thought the outburst about Anya had died down, ANOTHER Carter seemed to want to test his patients. Scabior's head was turned listening to another student speak when all of a sudden the frozen girls named was cried out.
His head whipped around, in time to see Lea Carter jump out of her seat. The girl had stumbled then THROWN herself onto her frozen friend. Dash was there in seconds, physically yanking her away from the frozen body.
"WHAT the HELL do you think you are doing?" His voice was powerful, and full of pent up anger. "Do you not realize how DANGEROUS that could be to her?" Shaking her like that! "GO sit over there." He instructed pointing to the empty desk at the very back of the class. "And twenty points from Gryffindor." He let the girl go before grabbing his wand once again, this time creating an invisible forcefield around Anya. The sheer stupidity in the class was suffocating.

Scabior ran his hand through his hair a couple of times, attempting to calm down from the young Gryffindor's actions. "So," He took a deep breath.
"Atlantis. What we know so far is that it mostly likely is underwater. The apparently underwater city, may or may not have been a Muggle or a Wizarding city. Keep that in mind." Scabior paused. "So to know more about the city, we should try looking past it. Let's look at the first person who they say is known to write of the city, Plato. What do we know about Plato?" If they knew anything about the man that was.

Was that girl nuts?! Was home-girl crazy?! WHY would she try and shake that Anya girl? What if she hurt her...what if she messed up her brain?! What if she was making things worse? And did she not see how angry Professor Scabior was getting? People needed to stop acting so crazy and wait for the healer. They were only making things more difficult and making Scabior more angry. And NO ONE wanted an angry Professor Scabior! What if he like...went all nuts on everyone because he was so mad? *GULP*
The second year wasn't even sure she wanted to answer, afraid of saying or doing something that might irritate the professor further. She made sure to think about her answer before opening her mouth, that way there was no reason for her to get the wrath of Scabior. "Professor, Plato was a Greek guy who was a philo-philosopher and I think he also created a school."
"That is nice to know. However your thoughts and concerns aren't exactly wanted right now unless they have to do with today's lesson." That was the truth. It was time to shut up unless she had something to say about Atlantis.

Louisa... listened to the professor, actually. She just let him go on, his bitter laugh didn't sound bitter to her rather than... amused. It did kind of make sense a bit, the comparison between when the Chamber of Secrets got opened and this situation. His logic made sense to her now, without the yelling and the threats.
Her eyes went to the frozen kid for a second before she sighed and nodded, "Okay. Sorry..." and she sliiiiightly slouched down in her chair.
.... oops! Someone just stirred the boiling anger in Scabior once again. Louisa couldn't help but feel sorry for the-- OH! It was the girl who interrupted her mourning session with ice cream last year, the rude girl. Still, she was a kid who apparently knew 'Anya'. SEEEE why professors shouldn't just discard the issue?

It took the Ravenclaw a couple of gulps, a lot of glances toward the Gryffindor statue and a deep breath in order to finally raise her hand. "He's.. uh.. a Greek philosopher. His time was around... the early 400s BC to middle 300s. He's... an Athenian citizen and student of Socrates."
Another glance toward Anya before Louisa felt more at ease and gave a summary about the writer, "Plato's dialogues have been used to teach a range of subjects, including philosophy, logic, ethics, rhetoric, and mathematics."

He paused for a moment, thinking things over before replying "I believe.... I believe more on whats written and can be supported by facts however little there are. I also give credit in written works that honestly say what they are-- that they are only theories and observations. Although I do come across many written works that pass themselves off as factual where in truth they are nothing more but conjectures, and as a reader it would be wise to tell the difference between them. But for a whole island to dissapear without a trace?..... No, there will always be some kind of clue left behind, even the worst kind of disasters have always left some tell tale signs of what was once there. I think the only time something truly vanishes without a trace is when they dont want to be found." And he suddenly paused, weighing his last words with what they were discussing. Something clicks in his head "So the people of Atlantis doesnt want to be found?"

Just when he thought things have moved on albeit awkwardly another young Gryffindor-- this time he knew to be the Candy Trolley girl-- went rushing over and shaking the frozen Anya. He winced, mostly because he thinks Anya is still contagious and second because she looked like she might break. But yeah Historian blew his top again.
The irony of Anya talking about Pompeii at the time of her freezing. Because right now the whole class is like Pompeii in the danger of getting buried by Mt Vesuvius-Scabior.
Keep Calm and Carry on right? Actually right now he just wants to Get Up and Get Out.
But he's a Survivor and there is a question.
Up goes the hand again "Plato is a Greek Philosopher and Mathematician, a student of another great Philosopher Socrates and was a mentor of Aristotle. Among many of Plato's written works was the defining of what is present day number theory and arithmetic."

SMIRK. Hannah was sure that silly Gryffindor that shot up and shook her friend so stupidly is a muggle born. The only other house that would be better suited for her would be Hufflepuff. Maybe that was giving the puffs too much credit though? Bunch of duffers.
Focus.
Who was Plato? Heck if Hannah knew. She decided it would be best if she didn't answer this time and instead take notes. She was sure she would get the dictionary version from a Ravenclaw.
João paid NO attention to the frozen girl as he had paid NONE in the potions too. He wasn't even excited. He didn't even glance over her. Unless it was Louisa, Aspen, Delilah or Professor Magnus, he didn't really care who was frozen. And of course, unless it was himself. But then again, he wouldn't know it if he was frozen, would he?
Anyway. He didn't plan freezing anytime soon, nor did Louisa, Aspen or Professor... so better to go on with the lesson.
Raising his hand, he said "He is a Greek philosopher. He has a book called 'State'?" Was that the name in English? "His philosophy says we are only reflections in the world." Right? Hopefully he remembered right... he wasn't so sure though. Most of the Greek philosophers told more or less the same thing. "He also thinks world is made of 4 elements..."Right?!

As much as Nora didn't really want to admit it... he had a point there. It made sense to not end the lesson, since they had no idea what (or who?) caused all this... freezing thing. She only hoped she wasn't on the soon-to-be-frozen list.

The first one to write about Atlantis... Plato... yes. "He was a Greek philosopher, writer and mathematician," she said after raising her hand, "student of Socrates and mentor of Aristotle." Whaaaat? She loved this part of history.

Having been looking at his notes as he wrote down a few things, Gideon hadn't noticed Lea go for Anya until it was too late and Scabior was reacting to the other girl's presence beside the frozen girl. The prefect cringed at the points loss and just waited for any other bad reactions the professor had for those who still chose to act out. Sigh.
Couldn't they see it wasn't worth it?
Scabior obviously had no other answers then the healer had so it wasn't like he could do more then he already had sending off his patronus. He might not be happy about it, but he sure knew better then challenge the man. Hearing Selina answer, Gideon reconized the masked anger in her tone and glaced beside him where he knew she was sitting. He threw her as reassuring a smile as he could manage himself, wishing they were close enough to offer a squeeze of her hand but the desks were just enough out reach.
Plato...Plato...must focus on Plato.
Gideon thought on what he knew about the philosopher against what was already said, finally raising his hand to add a tidbit of information. "He founded the Academy in Athens, the first institute of higher learning."
