The storm front that had brought snow to the school the previous day had moved out overnight and the grounds were a brilliant white in the winter sunlight. The Stands and the Pitch had to be cleared of the snow once more. Vindictus had barely finished the task when the spectators began to arrive for the game. Some learned from the previous day that dressing warm was necessary and even a few smart one's brought blankets to wrap around their legs while seated on the drafty wooden bleachers. A few sneaky students even smuggled in bags of snow so that the snowball fight could continue.

Dressed in his navy-colored winter officiating robes along with thick dragonhide gloves and matching boots, Vindictus put on his sunglasses and strode out onto the Pitch. "Welcome to the fourth game of the Hogwarts Quidditch season and the second part of our two-day Quidditchathon!" he announced in a voice that was magically amplified so that it echoed throughout the Stadium. "Today we have another excellent match up between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff!"

As he spoke the names of the two teams, a loud creaking noise was heard as the gates opened up on opposite ends of the Stadium to reveal two teams - one in red, the other in yellow - standing at attention with their brooms by their sides. Vindictus nodded to each of the captains as the crowd roared to life and the teams both took to the air. For fifteen minutes, they warmed up before settling into position overhead. The Quidditch official took the line ups out of his pocket and checked each of the names carefully before giving his nod of approval. The rosters were tucked away in his robe pocket, and he released the Bludgers and Snitch into the air.

Gathering the Quaffle into his hands, Vindictus began to address the teams. "I want a clean game from both houses," he began. "It's a little bright outside today, so glare from the snow is going to be an issue for everyone. Also remember that you need to keep moving or else you'll freeze to your broomstick. And lastly, remember to play your positions." All of the athletes nodded as they listened to him. "Here we go. On my whistle . . . one . . . two . . . three . . . TWEET!"

A shrill whistle was heard and the Quaffle was tossed into the air as the players swarmed into action.
