Divination Lesson 2 (Lithomancy)

Divination Lesson Two

December has reached Hogwarts Castle and it's grounds in full force and in many places behind the stone walls, the cold seeps in like a ghost in the night but not the Divination Tower. Despite the hieght and tower windows, the Divination classroom and office have not been warmer. Professor Elwood's window coverings matched with the roaring fires in the grates have kept the place at a stuffy yet comfortable temperature for learning.

When you enter the classroom you will find Professor Elwood sitting at her desk waiting for the kids to enter. You may notice that on the wooden desk before the blonde Professor there is a bowl of stones, both mundane and semi-precious, glittering in the candle light.

Please take a seat and wait for the lesson to begin.

Divination. D-D-Divination.

Lalala.

Blue climbed up into the tower, a heavy cloak on to keep warm. Turns out, she didn't need it. The heat hit her as soon as she entered. Ahh luffly. Blue beamed. "Hello Professor." Yes, Professor Elwood was deffinetly one of her FAVOURITE professors. Yusirieeee.

Blue glanced at the stones on the desk.

WHAT WERE THEY FOOOR?

The ickle firstie toddled over to a seat and sat down.

Gah, this was sooo exciting.

:x3:

Another divination lesson meant another trip to the tower from the kitchen level. That was a LOT of walking for the second year but she didn't mind. When she finally arrived at the classroom, she entered and was relieved that it was warm. She was having quite the time dealing with the cold weather and it was always hard trying to sit through a class while freezing.

On her way by the Professor's desk, Ella stopped and smiled at the woman. "Hey Professor Elwood!" She greeted cheerfully. Oh! And what were those stones? Ella looked at them curiously for a moment before finding herself a seat. She noted the little first year, Blue, who had been involved in the snowball fight and waved at the girl.

Nigel liked the last Divination class in where they built carts and raced them and wondered what they would do this time. He was still unsure of Divination but thought why not. He went over to the Professor first and said "Hello, Professor Elwood"

Nigel spotted the bowl of stones soon after and wondered that they were for. But he thought they would find out soon when class started. Nigel quickly walked over to a seat and sat down waiting for class to start.

The journey from the dungeons to the Divination tower was never a short one. Nora was happier than ever to finally reach the classroom and, if it was possible, even happier to find that is was warm and... just fine. "Hello, professor," she smiled at professor Elwood, but her attention has been quickly caught by the stones on her desk.

What were those for?

... some sort of readings, perhaps?

Taking her eyes away from those, the girl sat down on her usual seat, waiting for the lesson to start and trying to NOT focus on the stones. But they were pretty! And more important, she was dying to know what they were for.

Chelle entered the Divination Classroom, panting because of the long walk she had had to take to get there. She was welcomed by a surprisingly warm atmosphere. She sighed as she untied her scarf, taking a seat in front. She was excited about the second Divination Lesson.

Whew. It's so warm in here. Exactly as it should be.

She greeted Professor Elwood with a smile. "Hello, Professor!" she said, chirpily and waited for the lesson to begin.

Alyssa quickly entered the Divination classroom thinking that she was late and heaved a sigh of relief when she realized that she wasn't. She saw Professor Elwood seating at her desk and walked up to her to greet her. "Hello Professor Elwood." As she was walked away she noticed a bowl of different stones on the desk. 'Hmmmm...I wonder what they're for.' Alyssa thought to herself.

She looked around finding a place to sit when she noticed Ella. She walked up to her and sat next to her, "Hi Ella, I hope you don't mind me sitting next to you." Alyssa smiled at her before taking out her journal and writing materials and sat back to wait for class to start.

Ella was pulling things out of her bag when she noticed Alyssa sit down next to her. She smiled at the older girl and waved her hand. "Hi Alyssa, of course I don't mind." The were two of the three powerpuff girls! They had to stick together, yeah?

Lining her things on her desk, Ella made sure she had her wand in her pocket and sat back, waiting for the lesson to begin.

So here she was again in Divination. Sarah greeted the professor and sat down. What were the stones in front of the professor for?

Holmesian Feline 06-04-2012 05:57 PM

Seeing as Selina and he were back on good terms and Gideon no longer felt like he had to avoid her top subject, Gideon figured he should attend the second divination class. He had taken the OWL for it to continue on with the lessons after all, it wouldn't make sense not to take the class now. Heading up the stairs to the tower classroom, he slipped through the door and took in the location seeing as the last time he had attended a divination lesson it had been downstairs.

"Good day Professor," he greeted with a polite nod. The prefect then moved further inside and took a seat at one of the empty seats.

Steelsheen 06-04-2012 06:22 PM

Vickers crossed the Ravenclaw tower and quickly made his way towards his Divinations class. As he climbed the stairs he could feel the warm drift of air coming from the classroom. He welcomed it, really he did.

When he stood in the dim classroom he passed the Professor and nodded his head politely "Hello Professor Elwood" then promptly found himself a seat. He looked around a bit more though, wondering if her pet parrot was still around.

SilverDragon 06-04-2012 06:41 PM

Silvia made the climb to the Divination tower, glad it wasn't far from the Ravenclaw dormitory. When she entered the classroom she immediately felt a blast of warmth. She sighed in relieve; she usually got cold easily. "Hello professor," she greeted as she walked over and sat down at one of the desks. She eyed the bowl of stones, wondering what they would be doing with them.

Emzily 06-04-2012 08:32 PM

Divination... not his favourite subject, but worth attending at least.

Theodore dragged himself to the classroom and immediately appreciated the warmth of the room. SO WARM. He skipped over and took a seat next to Blue, offering her a BEAM, too. He wouldn't shout her name, though. Theo didn't like chatting during classes.

"Hi, professor." HI.

Cedric 06-04-2012 08:44 PM

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Favorite class, right meow.

With a smile plastered across his face, Paulie made his way into the divination classroom. "Hey, Professor Elwood," he greeted, while he set his books and bag at his desk. The Gryffindor pulled out his chair and sat down as he remarked, "Ya know, I was thinkin'.. I'm pretty sure Professor Scabior has the lightest tread in the history of mankind, or something. I have this theory that he doesn't walk, but that he hovers." Or maybe he walks on a very thin margin of air. Hmm. Either way, he'd been as silent as a mouse when he snuck up on them in Hogsmeade!

As he pulled out some ink and parchment from his bookbag, he noticed the bowl of stones. Ooh. Hopefully this lesson would be as good as the last.

Oichi headed up to the divination tower wrapped in a heavy warm coat and ascended the ladder into the divinations classroom. She opened the door. and instantly felt warmth that she was not expecting. She felt herself start to sweat and removed her coat. It seems magic can change the temperature, awesome! "Hey professor, it's nice and toasty here, I love it!". And with that Oichi took a seat and waited for class to start.

SilverTiger 06-04-2012 09:34 PM

Oddly, the warm air filtering down the ladder to the Divination tower only made Stella realize she'd not exactly been dressed for the weather outside. She hadn't been planning on going outside anyway, even though the castle let in enough freezing air that it was rather cool everywhere else, but the fact it seemed the tower was warm just emphasized that and made her temporarily colder as she'd climbed the ladder. Of course, it wasn't exactly her fault that most of her warm things were packed for the holidays, beyond her father's cardigan and the coat she planned on wearing when she left for London and then France.

At least she warmed up as soon as she reached the classroom, and she smiled at Professor Elwood. "Good day, Professor," she said, only briefly glancing at the stones on her desk as she headed for an open seat kind of between where Paulie and Vickers were seated. "Are you looking forward to the holidays?," she continued, still addressing the professor. It wasn't entirely relevant to divination, but the lesson hadn't started yet. Therefore she'd be polite, and considering the holidays were on her mind, that was what came out.

Lissy Longbottom 06-04-2012 09:44 PM

This STUPID tower...Alex was never ever going to get used to climbing up it every time it was time for Divination class. Pant pant pant. Why couldn't Divination be on a normal floor?? The professor probably just wanted to seem all mystical and stuff by holding class in a tower. So silly.

"Good day Professor," Alex said, taking a deep breath and trying to look like he wasn't about to DIE of an asthma attack as he took his seat.

AlwaysDance 06-04-2012 09:58 PM

Addie skipped up to the Divination tower excited for class to start. It was sure to be an interesting class, after all they did make wagons the class before.

Addie found her way to the tower and walked into the classroom taking note of the pretty stones on the professors desk. "Hello Professor Elwood," she said with a bright smile as she took a seat in the warm and toasty classroom. "How are you today?" Hopefully the Professor was good and ready to make another exciting class that Addie would love. After all this was one of the classes that she liked a lot due to what they did in the class.

Deezerz 06-04-2012 10:07 PM

Kennedy made his way to Divination. He had made the mistake to go down to the Slytherin boy dorms to get a book and now he had climbed all the stairs up to the seventh floor. He wheezed as he finally reached the last stair. Gosh, they needed to get some elevators it'd make getting to class effortless and more comfortable for his now aching lungs.

Catching his breath, he stepped into the classroom and was rewarded by warmth. Ah. He stepped over to one of the front desks and set his book bag on it then sat down. "Good day, Professor Elwood," he greeted with a smile. Yes, even if he had almost ran out of air Kennedy was in a good mood.

JeshieRAWR 06-04-2012 11:41 PM

It was the second lesson of Divination and for once, Jade was actually looking forward to it.

The Gryffindor walked into the classroom, feeling the warm air hit her all at once as she did so. It felt extremely comfortable and she was glad they weren't having class outside like Professor Bentley had done. She waved to the Professor and said, "Hello, Professor Elwood." She gave a smile and took a seat as she waited for everyone to do the same.

The brunette glanced around as she waited, seeing the stones on Professor Elwood's desk and she tilted her head. What were they going to do with stones?

Kimalia 06-04-2012 11:47 PM

Oh, a second Divination lesson.. Kimalia had entered in the classroom following the others. She was unsure on how this lesson would turn out after the last one's fiasco from where she ended up at by the end... Well, maybe it won't be as bad. Smiling as she approached the desk. "Hello again, Professor Elwood.." Before making her way to take a seat.

sweetpinkpixie 06-05-2012 12:07 AM

Okay, so maybe Divination wasn't SO bad a subject. The last lesson had been a bit more exciting than Kurumi had expected it to, but that was mostly due to the fact that there had been no guess work last lesson. It had been entirely hands on and without needing to use one's Inner Eye - or lack thereof in most cases.

Entering the room, Kurumi was surprised at how warm it was and regretted wearing her winter robes. Walking up to her usual seat, Kurumi bowed her head shyly towards Professor Elwood. "Good day, professor," she said with a small smile. Hopefully now the woman knew that Kurumi hadn't been trying to prank the Headmaster, yeah? As Kurumi took her seat, she slipped out of her outermost robe and hung it over her seat. There, that was better.

Jessiqua 06-05-2012 12:12 AM

Zhenya went to the second Divination lesson, happy that she could finally enjoy the lesson. No more click clack of those ridiculous hooves, or the half man. No, it was a full human this year! She smiled and said "Hello Professor," before taking a seat. She had noticed that there were some sparkling things at the front, but she wasn't sure what they were. She didn't want to go up and have a look at them. What were they though? Glitter? Diamonds?

magikewe 06-05-2012 01:27 AM

Quickly, Lily rushed up the stairs to the Divination tower, trying not to be late for the class. It was never good to be late, even if it was only by half a minute. So she rushed up the stairs, breaking into a sweat by the time she reached the door. Almost late... She thought as she adjusted her robes before entering the classroom. "Hello Professor... How are you today?" She managed to say before stumbling to find a seat. Those stairs were killer... Maybe I should do them more often for Quidditch fitness... Lily thought to herself as she pulled out her parchment and quill.

Divination class. Yippy Skippy. Can you sense the excitement in that?! [/sarcasm] Sierra smirked to herself as she approached the entrance to the Divination classroom. She wasn't the greatest fan of Divination, but at least it wasn't as bad a Arithmancy and Ancient Runes. She literally loathed those two classes.

At least the classroom seemed warm, which was a vast improvement from the air outside. Walking further in the room in search of a seat, Sierra passed by the professor's desk, eyeing the stones that sat there. Yup. Divination materials. "Hello, Professor," she said, and then she turned and took a nearby seat.
