After making your long journey to the seventh floor and after ascending the Divination Tower you finally arrive at the trap door leading up to the Divination Classroom--what can you say, the Hogwarts Staff wanted only the dedicated students to attempt the subject. After climbing the ladder into the classroom you will see that the once nearly empty room from the two previous terms before is now full of desks again and many other items brought by it's new inhabitant.
Go ahead and take a seat at one of the many chairs set up two to a small table on the risers at the far end of the room but as he you do you will pass the Professor's desk where a number of incense were burning. The room was stuffy as usual, with curtains pulled overly the windows.
Professor Elwood was seen sitting at her desk a small smile on her face as she nevously awaited the students of her first lesson as a teacher. Her parrot Galileo was sitting on his perch in the far corner of the room with a small sign on him that said, "Do NOT feed for fear of losing a finger!'.
The lesson shall begin shortly.
OCC: Welcome to my first lesson ever! Be sure to read the Divination Classroom Rules and familiarize yourself with them. I don't want to have to take points this early in the term. Also I will be updating this post with links to important things through the lesson so you won't be lost.
Nigel was shocked and a little mad, he did not want to dress up as some fortune teller and have to wear these ridiculous clothes. But since it was part of the lesson he figures he had to. He started to put a turban for his head, some of the poofy pants, tunic, and some charms, rings, and bracelets.

BOUNCE.
They actually got to DRESS UP?! Theodore skipped over to the trunks and pulled out one of the feathery shirts. It looked ridiculous but this was like fancy dress! It was supposed to be lame.
It was the TURBAN he wanted.
Theo picked a purple one, because that's what he associated fortune-tellers with. It took him about 2 minutes to put it on his head, but he got there eventually.
ZOMG, THE POOFY PANTS.
"Oh goodness." He muttered, getting overexcited by all of the choice. He picked purple ones again.
Aaaaaand.... jewellry. Even though he figured they were meant for the girls, Theodore got himself a hefty necklace.
What he NEEDED was some super dangly earrings. But his ears weren't pierced so he couldn't... He also needed some glasses. That would improve his image of wisdom that he was trying to convey. Instead, he looked like a purple, feathery chicken!
Suited up, Theodore made his way to the grounds. WOOP. Ohhh, down those wretched stairs again.

The Professor flicked her wand again at the trunks and they each opened up revealing the very things they had listed. "You are going to dress up as one of these stereotypical Fortune tellers in order to partake in the next part of the lesson." Each of the trunks had something different in it: The first had flowy skirts and poofy pants for the boys, the second had tunics and other feathery and beaded shirts, the third had turbans and shaws, and the fourth had jewelry (bangles, necklaces, charms, and rings).
Hydra's smile widened when she heard what she had to do. she then stood up the walked over towards the trunk near the desk and picked out a lot (or what Hydra thought was a few) of char necklaces, rings and bangles. Then a flowy skirt with beads and feathers and a shirt to match... 'Do I need shoes?' Hydra thought to herself 'I'll just stay on the safe side.' Hydra walked back to her desk and took off her robe then threw the clothes over her uniform then followed Professor Elwood outside.

O.O They had to do what? Hannah was in no mood for dress up and she highly doubted that putting silly things on her body would make her "see" anything any better than what she was currently wearing.
Oh well she needed good marks so she went to the truck and looked through the rubbish. She did not want to put anything on...she couldn't even find something that wasn't completely disgusting. She settled on a flowy purple skirt and a shirt that had purple feathers on it. She went to the third trunk and decked herself out with a necklace, three bangles and four really big rings. She was sure she looked ridiculous. Hopefully they wouldn't have to look in a mirror.

"Now come on up here and get dressed over your clothes now please." She didn't need children getting undressed in her classroom. "You may remove your outer robes though and leave them at your desk. Once you are dressed please follow me out to the Grounds." Professor Elwood grinned excitedly, she couldn't wait for this next part.
THEY WERE GOING TO DRESS UP AS FORTUNE TELLERS!
*ahem*
Nora was sooo excited about this! She loved playing dress up! This may not be a game, but she was still grinning from ear to ear. Moving towards the trunks, her eyes widened at the sight of everything that was in there. First, she took off that looooong and rather boring robe and left it on her desk, and chose a skirt long enough to reach her ankles, so she wouldn't sweep the floor with it. It was navy blue and had a very colourful flower print. Next, she took an equally colourful shirt and tied a couple of shaws over her skirt that didn't match anything. That was the point, right? Last but not least, she filled her wrists with all kinds of bracelets, hung a couple of necklaces around her neck, and chose four shiny rings.
She would have never imagined she'd ever have so many colours on her.
It wasn't that Aspen was fuddy dud or a bad sport. Really. Really she liked dress up...sort of.
But this was a little embarrassing. Tunics. Feathers. Poofy pants. She watched West's little friend put on a necklace that weighed as much as he did. A few of the other girls were getting into it...
...
...
Aspen used her wand to poke through the trunk of shawls until she found one that was thin, but darkly covered. She wrapped it full around her face, leaving ONLY her eyes visible. Choosing NOT to shed her outer robe, Aspen pulled the hood up of her robe over her head.
So really, she was 1) creepy and 2) unrecognizable. Clearly, she had a gift for Divination. With only her eyes showing, Aspen departed for the grounds.

DRESSING UP?! Oh Evie liked to dress up. Only as certain things though. Of course, she'd never dressed up as a FORTUNE TELLER before! There was always a first time for everything! She giggled as she darted forward, falling under the arms of a few of the older students. If she was one of the first students there, then she'd be able to get a good picking!
Assessing the trunks with a raised eyebrow, the eleven year old wiggled her nose and climbed over someone who was crouched and seiving through the first trunk she'd reached. Nope, Evie was heading for the trunk with the turbans in it. She wanted a big ol' red one. And a big ol' red one did she get! Evie didn't at all mind that there were other hands there picking for things, but as soon as she'd seen the red one? IT WAS IN HER HANDS AND ON HER HEAD BEFORE YOU COULD EAT A STRAWBREE! Onto the next trunk now, with her heavy head bobbing about left to right, and her feet avoiding things people had moved onto the floor to get a better look. Hopping, skipping, and climbing over other students. She kinda forgot that one of them might just smack her one for treading on their fingers by accident...
Evie giggled as she took a red feathery tunic, and dropped her school robe to the floor, to replace it with the biiiiig shirt. Hehe! And there were a few beads leading up to the feathers that made noises when they collided with one another. And they were doing that frequently, seeing as she was twirling about in it. Not fast enough to lose her new head protector, though. Just fast enough to make noise, and move effortlessly to grab a red pair of poofy pants (because she didn't like the look of those skirts, nor the thought of falling over in it infront of EVERYONE) and then some feathery necklace, aaaand some jingly bracelets. YUP.
The necklace went onto her head protector, so the feather stood up in the air and would wiggle when the wind caught it, and the bracelets went onto her wrist, and sneakily weaved into the top of the poofy pants she'd put on. So now she SUPER jingled!
Grabbing her robe from where she'd ditched it, Evie placed it over her chair, and dove her hands into her bag, retrieving the tennis ball she had been playing with on the grounds before class, and held it in her two hands. Now she was the super part! SHE HAD A CRYSTAL BALL. Take that fellow students! Beat by a childdddd.
And then she followed the few students who were leaving and had followed the Professor.

Indiana was SO happy. She was getting to dress up. It was going to be so so cool. Indy loved dressing up. It was one of the most fun things ever to do. Oooh. Pretty braclets. Pretty Skirts. Pretty long skirts. Indy kind of pulled it over her school skirt, and it practically came up to her shoulders. Umm. She was positive it wasn't meant to go up there. Oh well. It was fun. Indy smiled to herself, as she pulled on some braclets, and wrapped a shawl around herself. Perfect.
but now. One thing left. She kicked her shoes off, and left them up at her desk. Perfect. She was a little cute fortune teller. And now off to follow the professor.

Louisa froze in her seat for a full minute, her eyes widening and shooting the trunks the professor was so eager and smiley of revealing cold looks. Why on earth would she tell them to wear those weird outfits if the whole point of the class is to NOT think that fortune tellers are supposed to wear them? Something didn't make the 'click' in Louisa's mind and she just watched her peers following orders. Some might share her hesitance but nobody showed it.
Sighing patiently, the sixteen years old got up and dragged her feet to where the professor had placed the trunks. Uninterestedly Louisa fished a flowy horrible looking skirt from the first trunk, green and with horizontal ornaments on it. She didn't even look twice at it. From the other trunk she grabbed a tunic, lime green and some yellow. She didn't have to actually look carefully for something that went with her flowy skirt since the whole point is to look ridiculous, obviously. The beady accessories were the easier and less tormenting part. She took a bunch of beaded bracelets and one big necklace. A shawl that looked like a sweater hopefully would hide the bad looking tunic and lastly the big headband.
There, Louisa was playing the game this new woman shoved at them in their first class. Hmph. The girl took off her robe with a tug and started stuffing herself into those 'fortune teller' outfit.
Spike hadn't been sure about coming to Divination, and with the news he now had to dress up like a fortune teller he was even less sure.
...It wasn't helping the fifth-year's already grumpy mood.
But it didn't look like he was going to get much choice in the matter, so he dragged his feet over to the dressing-up trunks. Peering into each in turn, he wrinkled his nose. What were those trouser things? And the silly waistcoat. With a sigh, he decided that he'd look pretty ridiculous in whatever he wore, and so took the 'lucky dip' approach with everything except the jewellery.
He drew the line at jewellery.
And thus he ended up wearing purple baggy trouser-short things and a billowing orange shirt. For the finishing touch, he balanced a lime green turban atop his curls.
Damon let out a small chuckle. Because he knew what this would already would be like, after all... His parent's were street performers. He stood up, changing into a pair of the poofy pants and wrapped a turbon on his head. He followed the professor out onto the grounds, a small smirk still resting on his face.
He knew it had been a complete waste of time to climb up so many stairs. As if he could ever be convinced that there really was something called divination. Well, there was--'divination: how to rob people easily.' Eyeing the clothes, he snorted to himself. He wasn't going to wear anything more than a loose trousers and a vest. Yeah. That was it. He wasn't going to turn the whole chest upside down like some unnecessary people did.
Hmpf.
Waiting for that Ravenclaw Girl Prefect to finish her choosing completely, the Brazilian approached the clothes and grabbed the first suitable things he could find, barely paying attention to their colour: red, baggy trousers and a yellow shirt. Wearing off his robes, he put those things on and followed the professor outside.
Oichi smiled when she got confirmation that dress did not make the diviner. But why dress up then, oh, this is going to be fun, Oichi walked over to the trunks and tookoff her hot outer black robe. She then put on some awesome puffy pants, a feathery shirt, and as any many bangles that could fit on her arms. She then grabbed herbag and pulled out a sparkly headband and put it on, perfect. When she wasdone she put her robe in her bag and followed the professor out the door and floowed her closely. I wonder where we are going. Who cares, we look like parading hippies. Thisis awesome.
Dressing up? In Divination? What was that about? Kate blinked once but...did you see her complain about this? She wasn't! This wasn't a subject she particularly enjoys, but now..well, this was actually fun.
Except...she was leaving her hair out of any enhancement, her hair alone could serve a fortune-teller, especially if they were going to the grounds, where the sun made her hair shine all silvery. And...what went well with silver? It wasn't the easiest choice, but her favorite color was orange...so...orange and silver was the way to go! Plus some black because that was a stunning combination. Once the black skirt was chosen...and...guess what? Forget about the stunning combination. Her eyes caught a purple tunic that she decided to wear, and then onto an orange shawl that she'd wrap around her hips, and an silver one on top of that, and every possible necklace will be gracing her neck for sure, while ONE hand will have her fingers covered in rings and her wrist donned in pretty bangles. The wand hand remained untouched, just like her hair.
Now that she was wearing all of that...they were free to wander around, right? Yes!
Ira beamed as she as appreciated. Then came the fun part. So.. they were actually gonna dress up as those show-offs fortune tellers! But why? What did this all mean? Ira didn't ask, hoping that all would be clearer as the lesson would proceed. But it did appear to be fun. VERY MUCH FUN! Anything was better than sitting bored, listening to the lecture!
Ira excitedly got up and went over to the trunks. Wow! What a variety! There were so many different attires and rings and necklaces and skirts, all in many bright colors! It would be so FUN getting dressed, especially since they could choose ANYTHING they wanted! Nope, Ira wasn't particularly interested in dressing up, but as an alternative to a lesson, even this was welcome!
See? One of the advantages of being a girl was THIS! They could don all sorts of things and still look GOOD!
Ira picked out a long flowy purple skirt.. lined by silver border.. but nope. This wasn't it! Something more bright.. Then finally she chose a bright orange skirt. And a kaftan like top to go with it. Yep! This was what she had seen those fortune tellers wearing.
And now for the jewelry! MANY necklaces, MANY bangles, MANY rings! Everything was MANY! Ira wore them all. And then looked at herself.
Her hands were full with colorful bangles and way TOO MANY rings! In short, she looked way TOO over dressed! But wasn't this way they were supposed to be? Yep! And she wasn't the only one looking like this.. so it was all okay!
Ginning wide, Ira followed others into the grounds as instructed.
She changed out of the outer black robes, she was kinda sad that she could not wear the back colors. She put on a floral yellow skirt, a feathery shirt, and a cute sliver necklace. She walked out to where the other students on the grounds.
Sarah sifted through the trunks and she found what she was looking for. Hoping her ears won't fall off due toe the ear rings that she had, she cautiously made her way all the ay down stairs. Of course there were a few hiccups, including her hair and ear ring would not stop fighting and feeing rather unbalanced she nearly fell.
Oh Merlin...they needed to dress up as fortune tellers! Eyeing the trunks he nearly groaned aloud. He'd seen enough of that around Egypt! And now here he was to go and dress up like one. Taking a deep breath he sighed before heading for the trunks. Now to change into the baggy pants and tunic, and then accessories...
Taking his robes off he stood there with the items on his desk wrinkling his nose he pulled the pants on over his clothing. Now he felt even more ridiculous. Seriously??? Now for the tunic...well at least he was wearing a short sleeve shirt not long sleeved, so it should mostly cover it. His pants however stuck out below the baggy pants, because being so tall unfortunately he couldn't find long enough ones to cover the pants underneath, and it was obvious he had two pairs of pants on now.
Now for the turban. Plopping it on his head he tugged on it trying to get it to fit better. Nope not happening, it just sat on top of his head bobbing there, ready to fall off if he even bent over.
Great...
Rings...and an amulet around the neck. Ok, he looked down at his ridiculous outfit that was horribly short on him, and caught his turban from falling off again just in time.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
By the trunks, Jory looked over the costumes. He like dressing up, being something goofy or serious. He chose a baggy pant and a colorful tunic and pulled them over his robes.
After that, he chose accessories but he decided only on a chain and two rings. Next came the turban. He found a purple one and plopped it onto his head.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
Oakey sat and looked at the new Divinations Professor with an odd look. At least she's not a centaur...but dress up? really? Oakey was a boy, he didn't do dress up. That was until he walked up to the trunk. Each of the Outfits looked so funny and ridiculous. He grabbed a pair of Poofy magenta pants and a matching Turbin with two large feathers in them. He threw off his robe and slipped his poofy pants over his school dress pants, and dropped his turbin over his head. He rumaged through the trunk one last time, and pulled out a few rings and a white vest. He slipped these one and felt more like a Sultan Prince than a Fortone Teller.

Minerva got up and went to the first trunk. She looked through it and found a nice red flowing skirt. It was a very bright red with a trim that looked like gold. She smiled and slipped it on. Then she went to the second trunk and found a bright red with orange flowing shirt that had what looked to be bell sleeves. She loved the way the shirt moved and how big the sleeves were. The third trunk was one of her favorites. She found a red and orange head piece that she put on, it was silkier then the rest of the materials so you could see her blue hair through it. The orange sparkled around. In the fourth trunk she found big hoop earrings and a long gold necklace. Minerva laughed at herself then looked around to see what Damon had put on. She checked her outfit again and was just about to be done when she found the best gold looking bracelets to go with the earrings and necklace, slipping them on she clapped in excitement and fun she was having..
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Dress up...
THey had to dress up...in weird costumes..jewelry and whatnot?
that was soooo.....AWESOME!
Daichi went to the trunk to find the perfect outfit for him. Holding up a baggy pants he turned it around as if examining the clothing and placed it back down before grabbing another one. After checking at least five of them and none of them were his taste he finally found one. The Slytherin kicked his shoes out and dressed in the baggy pants he noticed that his ankles were showing. Turning back to the trunk, he found a pair of boots and after checking the size on the underside he decided to take it.
Next was a tunic. Daichi chose a simple tunic, nothing too flashy and a colorful turban that screamed attention. A few golden rings, golden bracelets aaaaand he was done.
Now off to the ...were they going to the grounds? Eh?

Ronnie watched as the professor opened the chests.
Oh. Not dress up. Ronnie hated dress up.
She sighed and hesitantly got up and made her way over to the chests and picking out random things and pulled them on quickly. She then put her outer robe neatly on her desk and followed the rest of the students outside. She looked at her outfit in disgust. When she wasn't wearing her school robes, she was wearing a t-shirt and jeans. Not...this stuff.
Bethan, surprised by the professor's instructions took off her outer robes and placed them on the desk in front of her and wandered over to the trunks. She searched the trunk. Nothing too flattering was in there, but nevertheless she pulled out a long flowy skirt that reached down to her ankles when she put it on.
From a different trunk pulled out a beaded chain that looked like it was meant for around the head. She placed it around head. Then she put on big gold hoop earrings.
Now, she looked like a stereotypical fortune teller right? She followed the professor out to the grounds.
SPOILER!!: A bunch of Fortune-teller hating students LOL
"Very true. Good ideas all around." Professor Elwood nodded at the Hufflepuff and then went to the next raised hand.
Oh it seemed she had missed a student's answer for the first question she had answered. "Yes, meditation is a great way to clear one's mind before doing a reading."
And as for the dress they thought fortune tellers should wear, the boy's reaction caught Professor Elwood off guard at first. She hadn't expected such a positive answer right off the bat. "Very good many times people think that fortune tellers are all fakes and that they simply just wanted your money--this isn't always true." It happened yeah, but not all of them.
Calista turned to the Slytherin Prefect with his hand raised and listened to what he had to say. "Charms are certainly found on many fortune tellers, good job." She nodded at him with a smile.
"Excellent Mr. Foster, those are the exact things I had in mind. Great answer." Callie nodded excitedly at the Head Boy, he was certainly thinking on the right track.
The Gryffindor was right a many different things. "Comfortable clothing usually is a must because often times fortune tellers are outside or on the move during the majority of their working time. And the jewelry and scarves do add to their mysterious appearance, good." The Divination professor smiled brightly at the girl.
"Those are all great discriptions of what we think a Fortune Teller might wear." Calista nodded and was ready to move to the next student when she heard the last comment the Slytherin made.
She chuckled for a second and then grinned at the girl, clearly impressed. "Indeed, they do not. A centaur wouldn't be caught dead giving fortunes and doing readings for people." It just wasn't in their nature, they tended to be greedy with their Sight.
Another good answer. "Yes each of those things are good to help us make our mental picture of a fortune teller. And don't worry I will go over why they dress this way in just a moment." She knew they would be a tad bit confused as to where this was going.
Oh she had seen some of them? That was indeed helpful.
"Great ones, most of the time you would see those items in the attire of a fortune teller."
"Turbans are a common piece of headwear for fortune tellers, yes. Very good." The Hufflepuff had been on his game today.
"Great point Miss Hollingberry. This is what I was looking for." Besides all the superficial one she also wanted to hear to make her point. "The dress of a fortune teller is not limited by some guide or whatever, the person doing the readings should feel comfortable in what they are wearing." She winked at the girl, so smart. "I will go into further detail in just a moment."
Comfortable clothes, yes.
"Charms are often kept close by to any performer of Divination because they tend to help calm a reader or to enstill a sense of further knowledge or whatever rune they may use." Definately a good answer.
Muggle fortune tellers, that is where the real wizards and witches who try the stuff get a bad name.
"Definately, crazy outfits and stuff are exactly what many of us think about when talking about fortune tellers due to Muggle films and the occasional eccentrics." She had seen a few of those.
"Yes very good." The Divination Professor nodded politely at the Gryffindor boy.
Aww she thought some of the stuff was pretty? Well that would come in handy for the young Ravenclaw in a bit then, huh?
"I do find myself pretty partial to the skirts." Callie said to the girl with a smile, using her free hand to wave a fold of her long flowy skirt about. "Ad shawls are also a very common article of clothing, yes. Though usually not as comfortable or pretty." Especially in the summer.
"Glasses or specticals would add to the illusion, yes. Very good." She hadn't expected that one but when she thought about it, it made sense. Good Slytherin boy.
Calista nodded at the cute little Ravenclaw girl and nodded along as she excitedly went on about the jewelry. "Yes, bracelets and rings are commonstock for these fortune tellers it seems. Although they are still very pretty don't you think?" She raised her hand and showed off the 10 or so that she had been wearing on her wrist, which was probably the jingling sound they had all been hearing.
She was right, they could wear whatever they wanted.
"Gypsy inspired dress is a very astute answer, well done. It is very peculiar that fortune tellers have adopted the dress patterns of the gypsy people. We will go on about this in a minute." Professor Elwood nodded at the girl.
"You are very right." The Professor nodded politely to the Hufflepuff Prefect.
"Comfort would allow them to not worry about the distraction of being uncomfortable, yes very good." A great thought. One that was true.
Mysterious. Good word choice.
"Yes colorful and mysterious is precisely what most fortune tellers are going for." Nod, nod.
"Jewelry and free moving clothes, yes very good dear." The slytherins were on their game today.
"Ooh dear you brought up two very good points. Herbs can be burned, like my incese here in order to set the atmosphere or to ward off evil spirits of the person being read or in the area trying to mess up your readings." That girl got a grin from Professor Elwood.
Although she had to chuckle a bit at the boy's answer to her first question, she looked at him with a confused look.
"Yes I guess there is a good possibility that they are over the age of 50 but I certainly wouldn't go around asking how old they are." Especially if they were women. Yeah, definately not.
This girl was saying exactly what Callie was wearing?!
"Very good, the more down to earth readers do tend to wear things sort of what I am wearing today. Toned down, understated skirts and bracelets, although mine have some sentimental value." Nods, very good answers though.
"Good points." Professor Elwood nodded to the girl after she gave her answer.
Another one describing the outfit she herself was wearing. part of Callie was happy that they seemed to take into account that she was a good dresser and capable of fortune telling but she wasn't one anymore.
"Yes, good." The gryffindor seemed to get what they were talking about nonetheless.
"Looking mystical is a good thing when it comes to many fortune tellers, yes very good." They were honing in on what she was about to say, great it was working.
"I agree clothing really doesn't make much difference but I will get into that in just a moment. Good idea to bring it up." She nodded at the Gryffindor.
"Yes good things to have if you are going to be dressing like a Fortune teller." The Ravenclaw was absolutely right.
.......
O__o
"Umm...sure. I've never met a fortune teller with these pointed shoes but I'm sure they are out there." Yeah, Calista didn't want to meet one with shoes like that. Perhaps the girl had them herself and was just using this as an opportunity to probe others' thoughts on them?
Weird.
"Yes, it seems to be the majority's vote." The boy had summed it up frankly, yet still correct.
"You are right in that respect." She nodded to the Professor. "It really doesn't matter what they are wearing. And all those things you listed a ones that would be found on your stereotypical fortune teller. Good." Callie knew some of them would be confused as to where she was going with this but they would soon hear. Patience was key.
"Um...yeah. A smile will do well."
She guessed, Calista eyed this one for a moment before going to the next raised hand.
"Yes a very good wrap up of what the others have mentioned and a good description of what we think Fortune tellers would wear." This Hufflepuff sure had an ability to talk without running out of breath.
Again this Slytherin Prefect seemed to be in doubt. She would need to meet with her outside of class, obviously.
"Prefect Greingoth," wait, her last name. She was related to the Minister? Wait....she would have to worry about that later. "you are perfectly right to be fooled into thinking all those negative things about Divination because of those very people. That is what we are touching on this lesson."
The galleons bit at the end did hurt Callie slightly, that is the very thing she had been doing the past 2 years after leaving the Ministry and back in the day to pay for Wizarding University. Oh well, the kids didn't know that.
"Very good, you are spot on with a discription of what we think fortune tellers would wear." She nodded at the Slytherin before trying to determine if it was time to move on.
All the students seemed to be right in the two different ways she had expected the answer to go. Which was good, that meant that they were thinkers, Professor Elwood liked that.
"Ok so everyone's answers were very good and I appreciate your effort. Miss Hollingberry was the first to bring up a very important point in her answer." The Divination professor gestured to the Gryffindor Prefect as she spoke, "she mentioned that fortune tellers should just wear what they are comfortable in and that it really wouldn't have any effect, positive or negative, on their abilities. She is absolutely right."
She watched the students to see their reactions to this statement. Yes she knew it was obvious that she was spending the lesson on practically the opposite of what Kurumi and other had mentioned but there was a method to her madness. "But those of you who mentioned the crazy dresses, skirts, jewelry, and shaws you too are correct. The reason these are correct is because the image of a Fortune teller has been misconstrewed by Muggle films, critics of Divination, and even embraced by actual Seers." Calista paused for a moment before going on, hoping that they were still following her.
"Divination has been stereotyped into a bunch of fortune tellers wrapped up on shaws and turbans taking peoples' money for false readings. This is not what it all about and I want to help you realize just how false and ridiculous that notion is." By doing their next activity.
OCC: When dressing your character be creative and have fun! Once you do so please post to the linked thread on the Grounds for the rest of the lesson.
Pardon me?! We have to do what?!
Penny didn't think she had heard the Professor right....they had to dress up? The Ravenclaw looked up bafflement clear on her face but then she watched as several of her class mates went to the trunks and started pulling out garments of odd clothing. The colors were bright and the jewelry and bells jangled merrily.
A smile creapt across her face and she rose. Okay, so maybe this would be fun. The 14 year old walked up to the first trunk and grabbed a bright red flowy skirt. From the second trunk she extracted a black shirt with a bright pink vest sewed over it. From the third trunk she came across a lime green shawl that she tied over her auburn hair and then a blue shawl that had dangly coins all over it, this she tired around her wrist. Idlly she grabbed a necklace and a bunch of silver bangles and walked back to her desk.
The Professor hadn't said anything about their things so she just grabbed her notebook and a quill and walked out of the class.
