Set up much like the previous lesson, the warm winter sunlight coming through the large windows brightly illuminated the arena, making the purple mats that were lined up perfectly in the middle of the area easy to see. The usual small trays stationed in front of each to make it easier for note taking were there as well. The only difference was the lack of dark curtains that would cover the windows, and the braziers were gone due to the fact that they didn't need them. The weather was warming up on it's own.
A variety of metal creatures were placed around the room; a few familiar examples being the nundu, dementor, and the snake. Some hovered off the ground, slowly twirling as if there was a draft, while others seemed to follow you around with their eyes. They've been enchanted to move on purpose, and while they aren't particularly dangerous or possess qualities that the real deal may have, handling them roughly could make your interactions with them may lead to a rather unsteady path. Yes, that is hissing you hear from the snake, and perhaps a growl or two with a few other interesting noises from the creatures that would come up every now and then, but honestly, they don't bite. Or do they? These creatures seem to have gained a more predator feel to them since the last they were seen.
The professor is currently sitting on her mat up at the front, wearing her interesting pair of goggles from the previous lesson while her metal spider ran around her in circles. Please come in and take a seat, or use the time before the lesson starts to look at the sculptures.
OOC: Forgive the late start. My computer is having major issues at the moment, so bare with me here lol.

Daisy pulled her legs into the lotus position. From the amount of times they'd had to do it in DADA, it was becoming almost natural and comfortable. Not that it stopped her finding it a little weird. How would sitting like a lotus flower make her learning better? It still seemed to give half of the class dead legs by the end of the lesson.
She looked up at the professor, pulling several sheets of parchment from her bag, trying to keep in the position as she searched frantically for her notes. They had to be in there somewhere, she had written them. Head almost inside of the bag, she half listened as everyone else started to answer the Professor's questions.

When Professor Romanos said they would be getting started, Ella headed over to her mat and got into the Lotus position. She wasn't too thrilled that they would be doing yoga during this lesson, mostly because she was awful at it, but she did her best not to frown. If it would help her out in any way, she would do it with a smile on her face.
Pulling her notes out in front of her so she could get a better look at them, Ella went over the spells she had come up with. Of course she wasn't exactly sure that all of them would work in a situation with a Grindylow, but she figured she'd list more spells just on the off chance they would be useful.
SPOILER!!: Notes
Quote:
Spells to use on a Grindylow
1. Protego-On the off chance that you saw the grindylow coming at you.
2. Relashio-Releases the very powerful grip of the grindylow.
3. Impedimenta-would be useful in that it could slow down the grindylow's movements.
4. Stupefy-used to stun the grindylow.
Raising her hand, Ella was ready to share. "Professor, our group is doing a project on grindylows. The first spell I thought of was the shield charm, just in case you saw the grindylow before it attacked. Next choice would be Relashio because it released the grip of the grindylow. Then I thought of Impedimenta and Stupefy though I'm not sure if those particular ones would work as well."

Taking her seat on her mat and spreading out her notes on kappas, Kurumi promptly shifted her body into the lotus position and began to focus on her breathing. They could just stay in this position the entire lesson and she would be fine with that. It wasn't too distracting and rather easy.
Flipping through some of her parchments, Kurumi found the one where she had made a few notes on possible spells and raised her hand. "I'm doing my final on kappas," Kurumi said as she returned her hands to her lap. "Besides spells to immobilize and stun the creature, there are two possibilities I thought of which sort of directly relate to how you can defend yourself against them. However, one of the possibilities breaks Gramps Law of Elemental Transfiguration, conjuring a cucumber, so there really is only one other option. Since kappas get their power and strength from the water-filled hollow on top of head, you could perform a Hot-Air Charm or a Drying Charm to make the water evaporate."
There was also using an Unforgivable on it to force it to bow and make all the water pour out of the impression on his head...but that wasn't something the Gryffindor wanted to voice out loud.

Lotus Position
Oh this was about their finals....
Vickers dug into his book bag and brought out a several books, each with little bookmarks and parchments stuck between them. Flipping open and closing each book hastily in turn, he finally found the one where he was researching which spells would best be used on them.
He opened the book and his parchment of notes and scribbles and raised his hand "Professor, my research is about Red Caps. Given the Red Caps' MO, the first spell that would best be used around them would be the Shield Spell, it would protect us from anything they can throw at us, whether that be something as annoying as stink pellets or something far more brutal like boulders or their own swords." He flipped a few more parchment to the side and continued "Various hexes and spells can work against the Red Caps if one wants to return the offensive attack-- Stunning spells and various hexes will work on Red Caps, basically anything that will deter them from going after your blood. If one doesnt want to hurt the Red Caps directly..." like he would if he could help it "... then certain Levitation spells such as Mobilcorpus or Levicorpus can be used to move the Red Cap away to a safe distance."

Alyssa slowly adjusted her legs until she had her legs folded and bent and she was sitting in the lotus position. Then she picked up her journal and quill and listened as the Professor asked the class what spells they would be using on the creature they had picked for their finals.
Alyssa had not thought much about that since she wasn't actually thinking about catching a Kelpie, but now that the question was asked, she thought about what possible spells to use, before raising her hand.
"Professor well since the Kelpie is known for shapeshifting, I would use the Reverto spell to revert its form back into its natural self."
" It is known that in order to tame it, one has to get a bridle over its head. The best way to do it is to use the Placement Charm. But since I dont know how to cast that spell...yet..." Alyssa paused and grinned at the Professor hoping that she got the hint before continuing with her answer.
"...And knowing how that it would be too dangerous to get near to it to put the bridle on yourself, I would first use the Immobulus charm to stop it from moving before using the Levitating charm, Wingardium Leviosa to raise the bridle and slip it on the Kelpie from a distance "
"Oh yeah...since it likes to lurk in the lakes and rivers, I would use the Glacius spell to freeze the lake so that it couldn't submerge back into the water." Alyssa finished with a nod.
Ira took her seat on a mat near the middle of the classroom. She didn't wanna get too close to Professor, nor too far. Quickly shifting her body into the lotus position, Ira started to search and remove her notes from her bag.
The truth was that she hadn't prepared too much, just had outlined her project. Because the finals were still a looooong time away right? Merlins help her! Maybe her notes would be enough for today. Ira held her short notes parchment in her hand and reviewed it once. Then sure that she could at least put her idea across nicely enough, she raised her hand up to answer.
"Professor, I'm doing the project about Dementors." She said, looking towards one of those metal replicas, one of which was a dementor was hanging ironically besides her, "Um.. unfortunately, not too many charms are useful for repelling dementors. The only charm that seems to block a dementor's path is the Patronus charm, in which, a corporeal patronus is more effective in chasing down the dementors and forcing them to flee than a non corporeal patronus." She looked down at her notes again and continued, "And also, it is said that a wizard feels less of the Dementor's effects in his Animagus form. But then that too, is just temporary." So in short, either produce a patronus or die. Simple case with the dementors.

Cassia was clutching her quill firmly as the Professor explained what to do. Well, she didn't say anything to be written and the first year released the quill and started to get in the Lotus position just as the Professor told them to. Bending her short legs, the curious Slytherin reached for her parchment, in which she had written her study on the creature.
She started thinking what would she use on her creature which is Basilisk. She shut her eyes for a second for the sake of concentrating and started revising spells that are suitable for this particular creature.
Scribbling down on her parchment quickly-although the professor didn't seem to be in a hurry- Cassia raised her hand in such enthusiasm that she almost jumped from her spot. Well, being a small, short girl among big tall students required that! "Professor, I had chosen Basilisk, earlier," She said, " And I think that I could use Obscuro spell to blindfold the snake's eyes considering looking at its eyes is dangerous." She said, "I'd also use Silencio because the snake's hisses are not pleasant as it's said. And maybe Impedimenta spell to keep the Basilisk as far away from me as possible." She shrugged adjusting her position again. That's all she could think of.

As he made his way to a mat, he greeted the professor. "Good day, Professor Romanos," he grinned. Kennedy then dropped his bag onto the mat that was next to Sierra's and sat down. "Who do you think would win?" he said, smiling, both a greeting and a conversation starter. He nodded at the creatures. Of course, he knew the nundu was considered one of the deadliest magical creatures, but then the dementor and its kiss...and the snake, well, it better take shelter.
The sound of a bag dropping to the floor diverted Sierra's attention to whatever was going on to the side of her. Glancing over, she saw that Kennedy had taken the mat beside her. She smiled at him, remembering what she'd told him at the prefect's kite flying event. She wondered if he'd even remembered.
Thanks to Hollingberry, they'd been interrupted.
Hearing his question, she looked around at the creatures while pretending to think. The finally, she turned back to him and said, "I would." had he expected anything less from her? Heh.

...and then the lesson began. Sierra looked at Kennedy for a second longer then turned her attention to Romanos. She took out her notes on spells (because she really needed to do that before starting all this yoga stuff) and then assumed the lotus position.
Kennedy was her partner for this whole dementor project, so it was good he'd taken then seat next to her. Well, for more reasons than one. The other obviously being that she liked him...as more than a friend. "I have the dementor," she said, raising her hand. Along with Kennedy, buts he thought he'd want to have a turn to speak for himself. "...and the spells used against it are the Patronus Charm, taking on an Animagus form, and errr...eating chocolate. Although, the last one isn't exactly a spell."

Could they have five more minutes?

Apparently, not. The Prefect took out his notebook from his bag and set it in front of him, then shifted into the lotus position. After the professor asked the question his gaze moved back to Sierra when she spoke. When she was done he raised his hand to add, "I, too, have the dementor, and as Sierra pointed out one of the spells to defend oneself is the Patronus Charm, though, the effects may vary depending if it's a corporeal or incorporeal Patronus." Hmm, this reminded Kennedy that he had to get working on his Patronus Charm, he's only seen a wisp of it once. He had asked his father if he could help him, but the man said he had no use for it. Pfft.
He'd ask Professor Romanos later if she'd allow him to practice...somewhere.

Gideon turned his full attention back to Professor Romanos as she called for the class' attention so she could begin. The 6th year did his best to move into the position the professor demonstrated...the lotus position as she had called it before shifting to thoughts on his creature for the final project. Seeing as no one had answered for boggarts yet, it seemed he had a clear shot for an answer and raised his hand.
"I'm doing my assignment on boggarts," he answered as he slowly lowered his hand back to his side. "The spell most effective on them is the riddikulus charm, which works with the castor's thoughts to create what they fear most...the appearance of the boggart...into a funny thing."
Yeah...turning Grant...into something amusing. That would be no problem....right.

Annabelle heard they had to get into yoga positions again. She was very good at it actually. She almost felt relief when she stressed out her tense muscles from doing all her homework. She got into the position the professor wanted. Belle heard the professor. She reached over for her backpack and took out her notes she wrote down. She did do a little research on Grindylows a while back and saved them. "Thank god they are still here." she said with a huge relief sigh.

After adjusting himself to the lotus position, Jory raised his hand. "Professor, I'm working on vampires and one spell that can work against them is Aguamenti. Vampires cannot stand water,'' Jory said and paused to check his notes. "Incendio can also be used since the creatures fear fire also.''
They would be doing Yoga today then! Righty right! As long as they didn't do that boat position... Sophie would be fine. She even kind of enjoyed all of that Yoga thing! Not the boat position though...
She sat up in the lotus position, pulled out a little piece of parchment from her bag and raised her hand. "Professor, my creature is a boggart." She started, lowering her hand and looking at the piece of parchment. "Since it turns into our worst fears..." She shuddered at her own words. "...we should use a spell to make it look ridiculous. So... 'Riddikulus' is the spell we use to fight a boggart. It's even called the Boggart-Banishing Spell, because I think it's only used against them, right?" She couldn't think of any other creature that needed to look ridiculous to be defeated...

More yoga. *pouty face* Yoga made her ache afterwards. And her legs and arms wobbled. She wasn't strong enough to hold her own body weight for goodness sake. Hmmf. With a smile sigh, Blue sat down and tugged her foot over the other one. Owie. So uncomfortable. So very uncomfortable. When she finally got into the position it wasn't so bad but STILL. Wriggle.
Her hands shot up.
"Professor, me and Stella...um, Stella and I are doing an act on Hinkypunks." 'Cause they were awesome like that. "We researched it and there's TWO spells that work. Stella couldn't help but notice that, first, the nundu was still occasionally growling and generally unsettling her, and second, Professor Romanos had glanced over at the creature every growl. The professor hadn't moved, but it still didn't exactly give Stella the feeling that they were entirely safe. Something definitely seemed different with the metal dark creatures this time. At least her mat was near the middle of the room, so any of them would have to get past other people before they got to her, and she glanced around as the lesson actually began. Hmm, she thought. There didn't seem to be as many other students here this time, but she still figured she wasn't going to have to battle crazy charmed dark creature statues quite yet. So she had time to prepare.
She knew for a fact that the professor wasn't concerned about how odd her creatures were being as the first direction they all were given was to move into the lotus position. As if they were going to meditate, but there was no way she was going to close her eyes when she was this unnerved. She still folded her legs into the position, before reaching over for her bag to pull out what notes she had from her discussion with Blue. At least they weren't all costume-related, which was definitely useful. Setting the sheets of parchment in her lap, she raised her hand, waiting for some of the others to answer before she spoke. "Blue and I are working with the hinkypunk," she replied, glancing around again to look for the first year but not seeing her at first. "The two main spells that are used to get rid of a hinkypunk are 'Lumos Duo' and 'Flipendo', although I'd imagine 'Protego' could be useful as well if the hinkypunk sends a fireball at you." Because some of her research stated that they might do that, using their lantern. Oh, and there was Blue.

Nigel moved into the lotus position even though he did not like getting into these yoga positions. Once he was comfortable he started to think about Professor Romanos's question. He raised his hand.
"Professor, I'm doing my assignment on Werewolves. The only spell I have read so far that is useful is the Homorphus Charm. It will transfigure the werewolf back to it's original state. And there is the Wolfsbane Potion. It lessens the worst effects of lycanthropy. It allows a werewolf to keep their human mind while transformed."
It is pretty sad that there is no cure for lycanthropy and the only thing that can help you is a very complex potion.

Now it was time to get into their lesson for what they picked their final on. The redhead was so excited to be talking about her creature because she HAD spent weeks researching it in the library, which was usually not her style. So as she got comfortable in her lotus position she raised her hand, "I did my creature project on the Nundu. And I personally had a really difficult time trying to find spells that would help subdue it because has never been taken down by less than one hundred wizards." It was a scary cat, that was for sure.
However she had to answer the question to get credit so she continued on, "I would suggest though using incarcerous to restrain the animal so it is easier to manage it. Then I would say that using a stunner, such as stupefy, would knock out the Nundu. Then you can move it to a safe location to protect people from it."

Nerida positioned her body into the lotus position...Where did she put the notes for the kappa at. Picking up her bag she moved around everything pulling things out until she found them. She wondered if anyone had said no to a professor when they asked Shall we get started.
She continued to listen to the Professor as she placed the unwanted things back into her bag. Spells they would be using on their creature. She flipped through her notes. Finding the piece of parchment with spells that could be used on the creature. She raised her hand and said "Sarassi, Narumi, and I are doing our final on kappas." She lowered her hand and continued "Some possible spells you could use on the kappa is the stunning spell or the drying charm to dry the water in the bowl on their head. Because without the water on their head they are useless until it is refilled. Um and there are some illegal ways but I dont think I should mention that one..."

Alex crossed his legs and followed the professor's example for the yoga position and, once he was comfortable, he raised his hand. "Well, I'm doing my final on Lethifold's. There aren't many known spells that work against them, but patronus charms have been known to be affective," he told her with a head nod. Since only ONE person had survived a Lethifold attack, that was all they really had to go on.

Sarah went into lotus postition and raised her hand. "I am doing the boggart. TH espell most effective is the riddikulus charm, you make the thing funny, and then you laugh at it to make it disappear" said Sarah

Medea listened and nodded as each of the students spoke up, all the while keeping an eye on those that still looked to be in their morning sleep state. She was quite pleased that most of them weren't waiting until the last minute to start on their finals actually. Those who haven't still had time though.
As the students listed their creature and the spells, Medea flicked her wand to the chalkboard.

Having added a little more information and spells on a few of the creatures, the professor addressed the class once it seemed everyone who wanted to speak, had spoken. "I'm glad to see some of you haff done some research." she smiled. "And thinking outside the box for the more questionable creatures. Some actions are very straight forward, only requiring one or two specific spells to defeat them but the others...require a little more thinking."
"As for the verevolf..." A tricky topic. "I vould stay away from learning about the homorphus charm. The effects are unclear as is the actual existence of the spell. However, very basic spells are still helpful when defending yourself against a verevolf, including the stunning and immobile spells."
She paused momentarily to glance over at the nundu. Still in it's place, yes? Yes, it was. "For most of these creatures, these aren't the only spells that can be used, but for now, they are the ones I'd rather you focus on. You'll have the chance to practice a few of them today and for homework. For now though..."
"Does anyone know the vand movements for these spells?"
OOC: Forgive my late post. Please only list up to TWO wand movements to give others a chance as well. Thank yoouuu!

Ella copied down the notes as they were put up, thinking it was quite handy to know how to deal with each of the creatures...even if she hoped and prayed she'd never have to come into contact with them. Then it was her turn to answer the question that was asked. She decided to explain the revulsion jinx since that's the one that would come in most handy for her particular creature, the grindylow. "Professor, for Relashio you need to make a sharp jabbing movement with your wand." And she held a pretend wand in her own hand, making the movement to demonstrate what she meant.
"Does anyone know the vand movements for these spells?"
Kennedy jotted down the notes on his parchment as they were listed. They weren't his topic, but he still liked having in formation if any thing related to this every popped in the future. When he was done he placed his quill down and raised his hand. "The wand movement for the Patronus Charm is a simple point of your wand at the creature." It was getting the incantation and intent of the spell right.
He knew that since Professor Schirmer did teach a lesson on this very charm. Only, he had not had enough concentration or happy memories to produce a corporeal Patronus.

Alyssa listened as the Professor quoted the names of the spells that the students had mentioned and even mentioned the one that she needed for a Placement charm which was the Fixate Charm. That sounded simple enough.
Then she heard the Professor ask them what some of the wand movements were. Alyssa was going to mention the wand movement for Stupefy but decided to suggest another.
She remembered that they had learned the Flipendo spell in Dueling Club two terms ago. "Professor, the Dueling Club Professor taught us the Flipendo spell and the wand movement is a squiggly line movement with your wand or we can just point. Is that right?"

Straightening her back a bit more, Kurumi moved her parchment a little more in front of her for easy note taking. While a majority of what was being shared right now did not pertain to her final assignment, it was important information nonetheless and should be noted. If nothing else it would probably all come in handy on her NEWTs next term.
Once Kurumi had jotted down all the spells based on creature, she set her quill to the parchment and filled in what bits of wand movements that she could remember off the top of her head before raising her hand. "The wand movement for Cucurbita Intaglio is an elongated loop resembling an oval shape." Kurumi had completely forgotten about that spell when she had come across it in her reading. She had been a little...erm...distracted by her studying partner at the time. Ahem.
