On the darkest of dark nights, down the rolling, phthalo green hills of Hogwarts, at the extreme back of the barnyard, in what used to be an old winged horse stall with no door and is now a converted fireplace..... lies one very shiny, very large egg-like object.
The object seems to be giving off an incredible amount of heat and occasionally quivers to and fro as the flames lick the sides of the cauldron it sits in. What is it, you wonder? You seem to be half-hypnotized by the shady, crackling, almost bubbling object; you hardly even notice the absence of the hay bales where you usually sit. In fact, there doesn't seem to be ANYWHERE to sit.
So you stand, shifting awkwardly from foot to foot, and waiting for more directions from Professor Williamson, who IS sitting, on a little metal stool, his back to the arriving class.
Oichi heard the professor ask them to draw the egg over the fire. Don't people realize that not everone is good at drawing, especially in the dark. Oh well, I'll try. Oichi took out some parchment and colored markers and made a quick sketch. It looked terrible but atleast it got done

Violet wasn't the best artist in the world and struggled with her sketch of the egg that was at the front of the room. Little by little, she tried some type of artistic feature to it, yet keeping the drawing realistic enough. By the time it was done, it looked almost messy to her. Violet raised her hand to show the professor when her arm knocked her water bottle that was on the floor and spilled it across her drawing.
"Oh no!" Violet cried as she tried to dab away at the mess that she had made. Some of the ink had darkened, while other places were smeared from the napkin she used to wipe it with. "Professor, I'm so sorry about the mess, but it's still pretty readable right? I made my best effort to clean it up." She slid it towards the professor with an embarrassed look on her face.

Lily was sitting towards the back of the class, staring at the fire. It was just so.... She didn't really even know how to describe it. Then the professor got up and announced what they were going to do.... Draw... Now the second year didn't exactly like drawing but she would do her best. So she took out her drawing materials and set to work drawing on a piece of parchment. Every once in a while she would look up to look at the scene before looking back down at her paper. As she finished up, she started to giggle a bit. She had added something funny just because she wanted her picture to be different. Once she was done, she smirked and put down her drawing materials.

Angelina watched the cauldron and the egg inside. She had to draw that? Oh man... Well she would do the best she could do. Looking at the cauldron and such she had to draw she took out her paper and pencil and started. From drawing what she saw wasn't the best thing. Once she was done it was some what expectable. After all it was the best she could do, she had to keep starting over to start out good. After she was done she looked at the photo and the actual thing she drew. It wasn't bad, it resembled what she saw pretty good.

The fourth year couldn't help but jump a little when he noticed that the Professor had crouched down next to him and was looking at his drawing. He was still pressing his bag with the stuff animal inside to his chest as his dark brown eyes also looked at the paper. "ehm...t-thanks?" he stuttered.
When the Transfiguration Professor asked if he was alright, Daichi tried to look everywhere except at her or the fire. He bit his lower lip as he muttered a.. "I don't like fi-...i-i mean, y-yes.." Why could he never tell what was scaring him?
"You're welcome," Issy smiled at him, although whether he'd see it in the gloom was another matter. The light being given off by the fire and various wands wasn't all that bright.
Bright enough for her to notice the worry on the boy's face though. She frowned when he started his sentence, then changed his mind about what he was going to say. And why could he not look at her when he was speaking? "Okay. Although I'm sure Professor Williamson wouldn't mind helping, if you did have a problem with anything...."Right, William? Had he even come back yet?

Silvia was by far not the best artist. But nevertheless she pulled out her parchment and drawing materials and decided to give it her best shot. Sarassi waved around her now lit wand and studied her surrondings. This should be easy, she had been drawing since she was little and she was pretty good when she tried. So she had to draw treess because of course there were trees the fire the egg the cauldron and yeah...
She was bored so she began to draw her and her sister and then the barn and the Professor and then a couple of her fellow students and then after just being tired of waiting she started to label everything...everything!

Harvey started drawing what he saw in front of him.. he had always loved drawing but was never good at it.. but he still tried it.. he had lit up his wand and started drawing the picture that they had been told to draw. He tried a few drawings but they never did look right.. so on his 5th or 6th try.. he couldnt remember he started his final drawing.. he decided that whatever he did this time he would keep no matter how rubbish it was

Finally he was done and looked at it.. not his best work.. but it would do.. he would still get points for it right.. yeah .. he hoped he would.. so he sat there waiting for the class to move on.

Having just spent the past hour or so with Professor Romanos in her office talking about the Castle and whatever else, Calista had just remembered about the lesson William had invited her and the majority of staff to. Of course the two women wanted to go so wrapping up their chat, they both donned their cloaks and headed off into the night in search of the barn.
When they arrived, Professor Elwood opened the door and entered, still chuckling about some joke Medea made, mostly because it just sounded funny coming from her, she froze. Whoops. The place was full of students already working.
They were late it seemed.
Putting a finger to her lips looking back at Medea, the Divination Professor walked further into the room and stopped by the back of the place, waving smally to Willy. Now she wondered what was going to happen here?
Was that an egg?

Of course, she couldn't turn down an offer such as this when Calista mentioned it, so after wrapping up their talk and grabbing their cloaks, the two headed off across the grounds and to the barn. Wherever it may be. Certainly wouldn't be difficult to locate it.
Although, during their short journey, Medea started trying her hand at a few jokes she'd heard from her travels. The latest about something to do with a a ghost and cooking dessert. Apparently 'booberry pie' was funnier than she'd thought it'd be. Either that or Professor Elwood was just being nice. Speaking of Professor Elwood...
Medea had to stop before running into her. What? Was the area too crowded? Eyebrows raising a little, she took note of the silence gesture and slowly made her way inside after the divination professor. Oh. Students hard at work...drawing? Lots of silence, and lots of talent from what she could see. She gave a guilty smile to a few and stood to the side before looking around. Smiling to the two other professors who showed up, Oliver and Isabelle, she turned her attention where the magical creatures Professor was and smiled to him too.
Laura looked around well this wasn't fun she was being ignored by the Professor and worst still there were loads of Professor around, she couldn't remember doing anything so bad that would need this many Professors. "Professor I ain't very good at drawing do I need to do it?" Seriously the Professor would faint if he saw a drawing from her.

Minerva listened to the professor and then her mouth flew open when he asked to draw. It was her least favorite thing to do. Really draw something.. She huffed a bit and reached into her bag getting out her parchment and her colored quills. She began to try and draw what she was seeing, when she noticed professors walking in. What was with all the professors this term joining the students. Not that she minded it, but it was just weird to see. First book club now here. She found this very interesting. She tried to get back to her drawing, but she was being distracted by her nosiness curiosity.
Finally she forced herself back to her drawing. Okay look at the fire with the weird egg inside, wonder what's in the egg.. No that's not what your doing right now Min, back to drawing. Oh look Professor Magnus is here, no back to drawing Min. She was so distracted. Once she finished her drawing she laid it where hopefully only Professor Williamson would look. She knew she didn't do a great job and was a bit embarrassed of her work.

Narumi twirled a finger in one of her pigtails thinking of how she was going to draw her surrondings on her parchment. Being with a family of many they ofen played games, magical and muggle alike so drawing things wasnt very new to Narumi but being good at drawing was a diffrent story.

Addie quickly pulled out some muggle markers from her bag and a piece of parchment. She looked around and began to draw the egg in the cauldron in the fireplace. What was that egg? Maybe it was a dragon egg. Who knew? She drew the fire around the cauldron. It was such a pretty site, as long as they didn't have to get to close. There were better things that Scabior had to do this late. Like, for example, sleeping. The History of Magic professor was a bit curious by William's invite though.
So that was why he a was out on the grounds, in a long black cloak and scarf around his neck. Slipping behind most of the students, close to Oliver his eyes wandered over to the only real light, the fire from the fireplace....with a cauldron and....
...was that what he thought it was?
Really, Scabior just blinked. This was William Williamson he was talking about. What seemed to be inside the heated cauldron really shouldn't surprise him...though it did.
He wouldn't admit it.

He wouldn't admit it.
When William DID return from....wherever he'd gone, he was carrying one pail with sand in it and one pail with some sort of thick, smelly, reddish liquid in it. The students in the front row would probably cover their noses at the smell but Willy, having made it hundreds of times, was immune to its stench.
Once he had set his materials down and had tossed the damp sand on the fire, he suited up in his long, dark, thick fireproof dragonhide gloves, quite proud that he'd remembered to put on fireproof EVERYTHING when he'd gotten dressed this morning.
Carefully, very, very carefully, the professor removed the cauldron from the heat source and set it down on the ground, still a ways away from his captive (?) audience. He then picked up a giant pair of tongs from behind the cauldron and took the egg out from it, carefully setting it down on the ground between the cauldron and the first row of students. That done, he removed his gloves and tucked them into the back pocket of his pants, then walked away again and came back with a simple cardboard box.
"All righty then, those of you who are still finishing up your drawings, feel free to do so. Those of you who are finished, sit tight for a just a moment. We'll resume in a second."
Then he went over to Callie and Medea, who were both looking to be in a rather good humor, and both of whom would helpfully assist him with what he asked of them. After a hurried, whispered conversation, Willy then went over to the guys and Isabelle.
"Thanks for coming, Olly, Isabelle, and....." he was surprised to see this one, "Dash." William nodded at them all. "If you guys want to er, conjure up chairs or stools or something, that'd be cool. Please just keep your eyes and ears on the egg and your uh, wands at the ready. I'm just gonna..." he gestured toward the front of the room.
Finish class. Yeah. That.

On his way back to the cauldron and the egg, William stopped by the Hufflepuff who had apparently been trying to get his attention earlier.
"Uh, well, Laura, if you don't want to draw, then you don't have to." He shrugged. "Homework and participation is always optional, you know, it's just up to you whether or not you want to pass or fail."
He smirked a bit and then continued on to the front of the room. Why was this child even ASKING about drawing? Even from his vantage point at the front, he could see plenty of drawings that were hardly of professional quality. She shouldn't feel alone, honestly, all artists start somewhere!

Now back by the cauldron and the quivering egg, which seemed to be quaking as if under great pressure. William started laying out a few other eggs from his box, lining them all up from biggest to smallest behind HIS egg. Taking a step back, the professor beamed around at the class and clasped his hands loosely behind his back. "Welcome to Care of Magical Creatures. Heh. I have to say, from the drawings I've seen, you ALL have a bright future as magizoologists one day." He smiled and took a step to the side so that everyone could clearly see the eggs.

Ella watched with great interest as Professor Williamson put what appeared to be sand on the fire and removed the cauldron. O__O Oh boy! Did that mean the egg was going to hatch soon? Wait, and if it was what Ella thought it was, were the students going to be in any danger? Looking around, she noted that Williamson had brought in some back up. Well that was good, just in case anything went wrong. Not that Ella thought it would or anything...it was just-this class tended to go in unexpected directions sometimes. Something Ella loved, by the way!
The second year looked at the eggs that Williamson had laid out at the front of the crowd, paying close attention to the chocolate one. Yup, that one had caught her attention right away. Chocolate, YUM! As for what the class had jut drawn...well Ella had a guess but she wasn't sure how realistic it was. "P-Professor, given the sheer size of your egg, and the fact that you let it sit in a really hot fireplace, I have to wonder whether that is a-a dragon egg." But it couldn't be, could it?
Selena stared at the eggs that the professor had laid out. Especially the chocolate egg wrapped with foil. Didn't the professor know that the chocolate would melt if he didn't let someone eat it?! What a waste of a good chocolate egg. Selena thought about the question, pushing all thoughts about the chocolate egg going to waste to the back of her mind... or as far back as they would go.
"You made us draw a mutant pygmy puff egg," Selena said raising her hand. Obviously. Or well... "It could also be like a dragon egg though."
Or an enlarged chicken egg. Were they going to be making an omelet in class today? Because Selena just wanted to eat them. Not make it.

Nerida looked at what Professor Williamson was doing, was he putting more eggs out there? She looked closely at the eggs after the professor moved clearly one was an ostrich egg and a normal egg and then a gross chocolate gross egg. She thought about his question for a couple seconds her eyes flickering at the egg and then the other eggs before she finally said Is it a dragon egg? It was the most logical explination.
