On the darkest of dark nights, down the rolling, phthalo green hills of Hogwarts, at the extreme back of the barnyard, in what used to be an old winged horse stall with no door and is now a converted fireplace..... lies one very shiny, very large egg-like object.
The object seems to be giving off an incredible amount of heat and occasionally quivers to and fro as the flames lick the sides of the cauldron it sits in. What is it, you wonder? You seem to be half-hypnotized by the shady, crackling, almost bubbling object; you hardly even notice the absence of the hay bales where you usually sit. In fact, there doesn't seem to be ANYWHERE to sit.
So you stand, shifting awkwardly from foot to foot, and waiting for more directions from Professor Williamson, who IS sitting, on a little metal stool, his back to the arriving class.

Kurumi wanted DESPERATELY to pet the baby dragon before she left, but seeing as there was already a crowd around the poor thing and all it wanted to do was take a nap...Kurumi opted to not ask Professor Williamson right now. It would only disturb the baby, right? It was the motto of Hogwarts after all, never tickle a sleeping dragon and that was certainly a sleeping baby dragon.
Then again...he DID offer that anyone who wanted to could come up and wait their turn to pet the baby...
So....logic aside, Kurumi left her things on the ground, completely forgotten, and made her way towards the line that had already formed and waited patiently for her turn as she continued to hum Twinkle Twinkle Litter Star. Maybe now would also be a good time to bring up that conversation she wanted to have about her post Hogwarts career?
When it came to be her turn, Kurumi didn't immediately reach out, waiting for Professor Williamson to give her the official go ahead and any instructions that may be necessary for touch a baby dragon. THIS...was going to be her first physical contact with a dragon and she really didn't want to mess this up. It WAS GOING TO BE PERFECT!

Smiling at those who were singing, Willy joined in with a matching little hum of his own. Hum hum hum hum, little star....
"You're all doing a fine job," he nodded at the singing leaders. "Keep it up." Baby was ALMOST asleep...
Oh, some people still had questions. And suggestions, apparently.
"I'm planning on raising him until he's old enough to live on his own, either in a reservation or in the wilderness," Willy answered very quietly. "And I'm glad SOMEONE also thinks my baby this little dragon won't grow up to be a cold-hearted killer.
He was also planning to have a few more lessons about the dragon, but who knew? So far, so good with this lesson, anyway.
"Roro." The man stopped stroking his dragon and blatantly BLINKED at the Slytherin girl. "Uh, never heard that one before, but all right." Whatever.
"Added and added," Williamson nodded to the next two suggestions.
More questions, coming from a Know It All Claw. No surprises there.
"I have never personally handled this particular breed of dragon, Aspen, no. They're extremely rare. But I suppose you were too busy talking to Scabbers there to hear my saying so earlier?" He gave the girl and the professor she was all buddy-buddy with a cold look.
Has anyone ever tried to be a foster parent to an.... OH FOR THE LOVE OF MERLIN. William stood up to his full height and crossed his arms at the child. "For your information, YES. Yes they have. While it is unusual for a.... solitary individual to take on the responsibility of raising a dragon, it HAS been done, and as far as I know," or cared to admit, "no one was harmed in the raising of said dragon."
And Willy was only raising this baby til... til it could live on its own. Sniffle sniffle.
He heard her aside and angrily pointed his wand to the open space of barn wall where he usually kept a running list of class notes. The list of suggested names, FRUITY INCLUDED, went up there.
Looking back down at his feet, William noticed that the baby dragon had, quite literally, fallen asleep on him. D'awwwwww. If that wasn't just the cutest thing.....! He could FEEL his anger at Aspen 'Asks-Too-Many-Questions' Odessa just melting away at the sight of his baby.
"It worked!" he whispered to the class, bending down to scoop up the baby dragon. He sat back down on his stool, which thankfully hadn't gone anywhere, and cradled it in his fireproof apron just like it was a real baby.
"The poll's up," Williamson continued whispering, "so feel free to go over to the board and mark up your vote with your wand. Or chalk. One per person, please." He had some chalk lying around his cauldron/box of supplies/junk scattered at the front near him somewhere.
Now then. "Class is dismissed, but if you'd like to come pet the baby dragon, please form an orderly line after you vote for its name. Homework will be posted on the noticeboard later this week."
And that was that. Successful hatching, hooha!
Awww it was time to go? Never had Vickers felt that so sad about having to leave a class. And the baby dragon was sleeping so soundly Vickers felt bad about having to take one last shot. He walked over to his book bag and returned his things into it then gingerly swung strap over his neck. He straightened up and turned towards the crowd lining up if then can pet the dragon. Part of him wanted to leave the sleeping dragon be, yet theres always that side of him that is forever curious and wanting to try something he hasnt done before-- like touching a real live dragon.
He went to the chalkboard and cast his vote, then fell into the line for the dragon petting. Couldnt hurt to try to feel what its scales felt like this young innit?

Ella walked over to the board quickly, marking her vote for Flint with her wand. She smiled at the board, pretty impressed by all the names. That little baby dragon would be well-named, whatever the class ended up choosing.
As Ella made her way to the large line of students waiting to pet the baby dragon, she couldn't help but feel a bit anxious. What if Professor Williamson said they had to leave before petting the baby? OR What if Ella was petting the baby and woke it up, causing it to cry-erm-roar again? FROWN. Ella hoped none of these things would happen.
When it was finally her turn, Ella approached Professor Williamson and the baby dragon quietly, tiptoeing just in case that would help keep the baby sleeping. Eyeing Williamson with a nervous smile, she put out a shaky hand and raised an eyebrow at her Professor. "I-Is this okay, j-just petting him-erm-her-it like this?" Ella hoped so. She didn't want to hurt the little guy. And then she made contact and just about melted. D'awww she was petting a baby dragon! A BABY DRAGON! How cool is that? Taking her hand away after a few minutes, she beamed at Professor Williamson. "Professor, this was the absolute BEST class I have EVER had at HOGWARTS in all of my erm-TWO years." She whispered this, of course, though her enthusiasm could still clearly be noted. Then with one last look at the onlycutest baby dragon Ella had ever seen, she gathered her things and headed for the door.
Marking the board. Holding the piece of chalk Jezzabelle stared at the long list of names that were offered. She found the name she wanted that sounded perfect for the little baby dragon drew one neat line and then made to grab her stuff.
She hesitated on the outskirts of the crowd that wanted to pet the baby dragon but at the same time she didn't. Standing there a little conflicted she argued the pros and cons of petting the dragon. However, it was a big yawn that made the decision for her. It was late and she was tired. So she decided she could leave and maybe pet the dragon some other day.
"Great class Professor Williamson. I really enjoyed it," she said and then left heading to the castle.

Sarassi picked up her things went and voted and thought whether she should go bother the poor innocent adorable litle dragon, after deciding not to. She quickly changed her mind and ran walked over there, and waited patiently in line..Wow this was a long line! That was for sure she pet the little dragon softly and how her Godmother Caroline told her. Caroline worked with all animals and her husband owned a zoo which happened to have a dragon.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

Let's go up now and pet it before it wakes up. he looked back to his friend, better to pet it now than wait after so many others have disturbed it's sleep. The little Dude/Dudette was probably dreaming of guarding a large pile of gold.
Uuugh! Finally the end. Dragons were NOT exciting, they were freaky, they would just come and breathe fire on people and blow them to pieces. Yay! Eliza rushed out of the lesson.

Mordred simply rolled his eyes and gave a small smirk. "The extra o's supposed to make the name sound bigger. That thing will be huge in no time anyway." he said in a hushed tone-- being cautious not to disturb the sleeping dragon. "All right, if you're so brave Oakey...you go first." he motioned his head toward the dragon. He checked if he had his safety gloves in his bag and wore it right away, while waiting for Oakey to do his turn.

Harvey was sad to see that this coolest interesting class had ended this quick.. but if that little dragon was now asleep no point for them to stay and end up waking him up.. he watched as the list was created and they were told that they could go cast their vote for the baby's name.. so he went upto the list and after much thought and much more looking at the baby to see which name suited him best.. he then came to a conclusion and voted for the one he thought best suited the little guy..
He then went over the professor cause he like REALLY wanted to pet that dragon.. it could be his one and only chance to pet one in his whole life even though he was a kid still "Thanks for the great class professor.. really surprised us with this little guy" he whispered with a big smile on his face.. and then proceeded to very lightly and gently pet the baby while he let others as well.. wow! he had never felt dragon scales before but these were really cool!
"Professor would there be a chance of us being able to visit him while he grows up with you?" he asked the professor.. cause like he really wanted to visit the little guy before he had to leave.. and then maybe in the future he could visit a grown up dragon that MAY remember him from his baby days.. although unlikely and the dragon would probably want to kill him.. but worth a try to have a dragon buddy.. right?

Well, Sierra wasn't going to sing to the dragon. Merlin, she wasn't even sung to as a child. Why would she sing to a creature?! She was glad to see that the others had put the dragon to sleep, though. At least now it was least likely to go on some weird and unexpected attacking spree. She smirked in amusement as the dragon curled up on the professor's feet then she turned her attention to the professor.

Sierra gave the professor a 'you have got to be kidding me' expression. He was going to raise the dragon until it was old enough to be on its own?! WAS HE INSANE?! Ahh, well. To each his or her own. ...and he hadn't heard of Roro? Well, ...now he had. Either way, it was added to the poll, so Sierra was pleased.
She sort of tuned out to whatever else was said but knew she needed to go cast her vote before leaving. She may also stay and think about petting the dragon. If for nothing else then to say that her prefect duty of the day was done. She approached the board, read over the suggestions, and then marked her vote.
Then she--slowly but surely, mind you--joined the line waiting to pet the dragon. So as long as the creature didn't get upset that people were interrupting his sleep.

Violet got up slowly from her seat to join the line to pet the dragon. She was shaking with excitement and fear at the same time. What if it bit her on the hand? What would the professor do then? But wait, the dragon was asleep now on the professor's lap and released her breath that she had been holding.

One round of students singing later and the baby dragon was asleep. Awww so cute. Gideon was sure if all people saw dragons at this stage they might not be scared of them when they were bigger. Not that he was suggesting everyone including muggles were to be exposed to the wonders of a baby dragon. It would take away from the rare and priviledged event that he and the rest of the class had just witnessed.
The sixth year was brought back to the present when Professor Williamson dismissed the class, mentioning homework would be available later in the week. Writing down the last bit of notes, he stashed both quill and parchment in his bag gathering up his belongings. Now to vote for the name for the new baby.
Gideon slipped his sachel over his shoulder and approached the board to do just that. He waited until it was his turn seeing as there was already a good deal of students making their decision. Looking over the list gathered to give each name even those he might not have heard the chance to be picked, he finally marked his choice and made to leave. "Good evening Professor...and thanks for class."
RORO. really, guys? REALLY? Can we make that its middle name?! XD

Dylan COULD NOT believe anything he was seeing...
Not one bit of it.
So, the dragon...YES, it had been confirmed to be a DRAGON, was making that egg bounce around...and at any moment, was going to bust out and possibly scorch them all with his FLAMES OF RAGE. Dylan knew that if he'd been cramped up in a tiny shell for however long, he'd have been quite upset himself. So, there was no blaming the baby for that.
And then there were cracks...and more cracks, someone was screaming...Bloody he-...Who WAS that screaming?
Looking around a bit, Dylan spotted Bee as the source...and ROLLED his eyes. Seriously? What was it with girls, anyway?
Then the shell was busting open and the Slytherin had to admit, he was a little worried. Perhaps the Dragon, being so young, wouldn't know better and would go on a rampage, roasting them all. IT COULD HAPPEN! Even if they were all wearing fire-proof stuffs...Their faces were still exposed! And Dylan cared far more about his face than he did other parts of his body, if he were being honest.

He was a little thing...A tad bigger than the Slytherin thought he'd be...but yea. Eying the little baby with fascination curiosity, Dylan moved closer. Like he'd said earlier, he'd never had the privilege of seeing one in person. So, this was new for him. New...and a little exciting. But just a little...
Names? They were throwing out options. Apparently, WWW hadn't premeditated one. Some of the suggestions were good...Like blaze...and that slightly longer one that Vicky had thrown out...but some were just stupid. Like fruity?! Yes, it was OBVIOUSLY a girl suggestion...
Honestly...naming a dragon something like that...
Wha...What? Class was over already?
Blinking a few times, Dylan started stuffing things back in his bag. The class had been...exciting and eventful. He'd say that much about it.
Hearing the offer to pet the Dragon before leaving, he moved a bit closer, eying the little creature. When close to the Professor, the baby didn't seem at all agitated or frustrated. Just like human babies...Just not as whiny or irritating.
Reaching out a hand, he petted the things scaly surface rather quickly before proceeding to back away. He didn't want that thing, no matter how cute he was, to burn his face...or anything else.
"Erm. Good lesson, Professor." He offered, before quickly turning to make his way back towards the castle.

When it came to be her turn, Kurumi didn't immediately reach out, waiting for Professor Williamson to give her the official go ahead and any instructions that may be necessary for touch a baby dragon. THIS...was going to be her first physical contact with a dragon and she really didn't want to mess this up. It WAS GOING TO BE PERFECT!

Taking her hand away after a few minutes, she beamed at Professor Williamson. "Professor, this was the absolute BEST class I have EVER had at HOGWARTS in all of my erm-TWO years." She whispered this, of course, though her enthusiasm could still clearly be noted. Then with one last look at the onlycutest baby dragon Ella had ever seen, she gathered her things and headed for the door.

Then she--slowly but surely, mind you--joined the line waiting to pet the dragon. So as long as the creature didn't get upset that people were interrupting his sleep.

Petting the dragon could wait for another time.
Smiling and nodding, nodding and smiling at all the students' kind words, Willy felt a great sense of relief. It was as if a weight, a great, heavy, stressful anvil, had been lifted from his shoulders. And now everything was great in the world! Heck, he was cuddling a NEWBORN in his arms!
Granted, it wasn't HIS newborn, exactly, but WHATEVER. It was CUTE.
"All right, all right, for those of you who want to pet the baby, just step on up and gently stroke it's head. Do NOT try tickling it under the chin or on the belly, especially not while it's asleep." These kids had heard of Hogwarts' motto, right? It was like, Dash's responsibility to teach that to them, anyway.
"When you're done petting, please slowwwwly and softlyyy step away and silently gather your things. You guys have been a great class." Even if he did disagree with their name of choice. "Have a good night, kids."

Oichi had been enjoying this class so much and then Oichi heard the class was coming to an end. But the best had been saved for last. She is gonna get to pet a dragon. Oichi got in line and waited her turn and then it finally came. Oichi approached the baby dragon and put her hand over it's tiny scales. It felt roughand slimey but absolutely amazing. She was gonna remember this night for years to come. She lifted her hand off the baby dragon and walked back toward her suplies to give the next person there go. She grinned widely as she gathered her stuff. She looked back one last time at the baby dragon before she took out her wand, "Lumos Maxima", with that Oichi began her hike back to the castle with wonderful thoughts of the baby creature she had just welcomed into the world.
It was finally Nigel's turn in line an was actually a little nervous to pet a dragon and not just any dragon but a hybrid dragon. So when Nigel finally gathered the courage he gently stroked it's head. It really was cute Nigel finally decided when he got a good look at it and was gently stroking it's head. When he was done he run out of class to the dormitory to go to bad because it was really late and Nigel had now classes today after the class lasted so long.
She stepped up when it was her turn and petted the adorable little dragon, though it's name was akward, it was just to cute. She went and got her things, waved goodbye to the professor that just made her day with this lesson and quietly walked out witha smile on her face.
I didnt choose that name. I am serious! Even though I would have SO loved to! XD

Harvey smiled as he gently petted the baby dragon .. he was glad that he got to pet him.. who knows when he would get another chance like this.. so he made this moment last and made sure that he remembered every moment of it.. cause it would be quite tough to get close to a dragon again.. even as babies they would be protected by their mothers.. so even baby dragons would be hard to come by.. so there he was petting the little dragon.. when he remembered that others were waiting to also pet the baby so he gave a few more pets before he decided to get going "Well thanks for the great lesson professor.. hope to have more of these in the future" he smiled as he looked at the baby one last time before he got his bag and left for his next class.. knowing that he would never forget that dragon.. but he would come back to ask the professor what his name came to be.. cause he couldnt keep calling it dragon all the time.. sure thats what the baby was.. but he needed to call the baby by its name.. he wondered what it would be.

Scampering over to the crowd of dragon petters, she lunged forward carefully to get in line. When it was her turn, she knelt and stared at the creature for a while, before smiling widely and gently stroked its head. She just had to live with that for the time being, even if she badly wanted to cuddle it, she just had to restrain herself so it can rest. "Grow healthy baby dragon.." Beezus whispered to it.
Then she turned to Daddy!Dragon, beamed at him and bowed. "Professor Williamson. I never really liked the Care of Magical Creatures subject until you became our Professor. Thanks for a very wonderful lesson." I mean, come on. Not all wizards have the privilege to witness a dragon hatching right before their eyes but he made it possible for all of them.
She straightened up, smiled at the Baby Dragon once again and headed out.

What time was it? Argh. She needed to sleep and maybe dream of their Baby Dragon.

Jory gently patted the dragon. This seemed like a once in a lifetime opportunity. "Don't burn down anything, little fellow,'' he said smiling and patted the dragon once more before moving off.
"Great lesson, Professor,'' he said as he headed out of the class.

William had a dragon egg. No, correction, the man who easily lost his life savings to Goblins, had a dragon. A real one. Be it the dragon was a baby, but in a few months the baby giant, and uncontrollable.
Dash stood, watching as everyone swooned over the baby dragon. Yes, yes. Go ahead and pet the creature that could burn down your school children. Or maybe not. Hogwarts had survived Dragons before, if they thing got lose and started fires it would only result in a few causalities.
Scabior probably should have been thinking about how wonderful it as to see the Dragon. But he had seen a couple before. His mind was more focused on how Ministry officials would feel about this whole thing.
He was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard a comment seemingly directed to him. Fruity? Really Odessa? "That's probably why you don't have your own Dragon." He said bluntly. Not in a mean way at all, just stating facts.
Fruity.
The Dragon would light her head on fire.
Scabior said nothing else, but it didn't spot William from replying to the claw in a slightly aggravated fashion. Why? Eh, he had no clue. He turned his face to Aspen once more as she began to pack up, and shrugged completely missing her stares. "He gets cranky when he doesn't get his nap." But the girl probably didn't hear. Oh well. He watched for a bit longer as students began to crowd around, and with a nod to William he turned to make his way back into the castle.
Blackmail had a nice ring to it.

Narumi lightly petted the dragon on the head and said Good bye baby dragon, sleep tight. She waved goodbye to the dragon as she left and then waved bye to the Professor and was off to the Girls room of the Gryffindor Common Room to go to sleep!
Surprised that he already was, he didn't think professor would ask them to touch the baby dragon if they wanted to. Zack so wanted to touch the baby and take it in his hand, but he thought of avoiding it. He didn't want to catch fire and cause the dragon to wake up. He just thought of patting it lightly. He hadn't touched a dragon and so he thought he wouldn't get that chance ever again.
He quietly moved forward towards, most of the students had finished with their turn so now it was his. He slowly moved his right hand forward a bit shaky at the time and touched the top of the baby dragon's head patting it slowly, so that he didn't' wake him up. He it a bit odd but it felt good. Patting it on the head and them sliding his hand towards it neck two three times, he was satisfied and smiled. He did it without waking it up.
He couldn't move for a few seconds and was just standing there staring at the baby dragon, finally he managed to remove his eye fro the dragon and looked at the professor standing aside. "Thanks Professor, it was a great lesson. I LOVED IT" he whispered and moved back looked back at the baby dragon and headed towards the door.

Kurumi was practically shaking in eager anticipation when it finally was her turn to to approach the baby dragon, only she found herself sort of frozen in place for several seconds. It was too good to believe that she was about to touch something that had JUST come into this world. It was overwhelming really and she had to giggle softly at the look on Professor Williamson's face. It almost looked like HE were the real father.
Hopefully he wouldn't go around showing pictures of baby, Roro was it?, in the same manner her father did. The man had tried to pay with pictures of her at Sugarplums once...claiming that a picture was worth a thousand galleons or something like that. Thank MERLIN Kurumi hadn't been around for that.
"Thank you, professor," Kurumi said softly, feeling as though she needed to thank him for allowing them all to touch the infant. Very veeeeeeeeeeery slowly, Kurumi reached out with her hand and slowly stroked the top of the baby dragon's head, taking in every texture and contour of its head as her hand moved across it. "This...is...amazing..." she whispered, practically with stars in her eyes.
Looking up at Professor Williamson again before slowly and reluctantly from the baby dragon's head, Kurumi found she was BEAMING at the man. "This really was incredible, professor. I've been hoping that after Hogwarts I could study to be a dragonologist, so this really was eye opening for me." Maybe she could even specialize in dragon breeding? She would have to ask at some point.
Looking back one last time at the baby dragon, Kurumi smiled. "Good night, little Roro," she whispered before slowly backing away and grabbing her things so she could head back to the castle.
SHE WAS NEVER WASHING HER HAND AGAIN!

Minerva smiled when the professor told her it was okay to pet the dragon and she put her hand on the dragon. It was warm and the scales where a bit rough, but this was so cool. She wish she had a camera to take a picture of her near the dragon. It wasn't everyday you got to pet a flipping dragon. This had to be the coolest thing she had ever done. Professor thank you so much for the fantastic lesson. I hope the baby does well." she gave one last smile and headed out of class.
