| | Book Club Meeting 1 Book Club Meeting One
An area in the middle of the library has been cleared of bookshelves and other equipment to make room for a big round circle of bean bags in all colours of the rainbow. One bean bag which is bigger than the others and bright orange is Mr Kitridge, the schools librarian sitting on with a small note book in his lap. For the afternoon meeting he is dressed in dark red robes.
In the middle of the circle of bean bags there is a stack of writing cards and a giant sized bowl full of candy. The candy has only been brought to the meeting because Mr Kitridge wants to give everyone a treat. Any food or drink found in the library at other hours/occasions will be thrown out and the student/s will be punished.
Go ahead and take a seat on a bean bag of your choosing and help yourself to a candy treat as you make yourself a name card while you wait for the meeting to start! OCC: The meeting will begin in around 7 pm GMT tuesday night (May 8th). Don’t forget to bring your favourite childhood book! Keep chatting to a minimum! If you haven’t then please take time to familiarize yourself with the rules for the library. |

| Selena was here the whole time. :3
She liked beanbags. She particularly enjoyed the green ones. Selena wrote her name down on the card, taking two pieces of candy and popping them into her mouth before resuming her writing. The Head Girl finished writing on her card, using the hardcover orange book as a table as she did so. Selena Zabini-Riddle
Seventh Year Slytherin
Of course, her pygmy puff wasn't absent and since this wasn't a class, Selena didn't see why her pygmy puff couldn't be here. The Slytherin pet the pygmy puff on her head and plopped down on a green beanbag, sinking into it. It was like sitting on a squishier pillow. It was like sitting on a cloud of pygmy puffs except Selena would never do that - that would be cruel.
She smirked at Kennedy's book. So cute. Hehe. And he looked embarrassed. Selena would poke him... but he was too far. And he was called Orange now. Just like the cover of her book. She listened to everyone before she waved at everyone. "Hellooo! My favorite book is Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss because I saw it in a store once and my stepfather bought it for me. I didn't like it at first because it looked funny but the book was funny. And it made absolutely no sense, so I liked it even more. Plus, I want green eggs and ham, so if Sam-I-Am offers me them, I'll eat it." But while she was here she'd settle for the candy the librarian had. And squishing Kent.

Minnie held up her book for the class to see Wizards don't wear graduation gowns.and put up her hand. "My favorite book is Wizards don't war graduation robes." she blushed a bit saying this, knowing is sounded stupid to read a muggle book about wizards and talk about it at a wizards school, but when she read it in second grade she didn't know she was a wizard yet. "My mom gave it to me to read, she said I would love it. It's about a group of school age students that find weird things happening to an adult and then start thinking she is a wizard." Minerva then smiled and waited to hear everyone else's stories.

Adarian walked in and searched for an empty beanbag. He casually walked by the candy bowl and stopped to grab a licorish wand before he sat in the empty chair. He adjusted his book so he could write out his name tag.
Adarian Hunter
Slytherin, First year
He put the name tag somewhere visible then realized he should probably talk about the book he brought. He held it up so people could see a human boy next to a friendly Centaur on the cover, "This is called 'The Little Centaur', it's about a boy who was adopted by a herd of Centaur and raised as one of them and it tells of his adventures with them." his southern drawl could be heard on many of the words he spoke. "I always thought it was fun to imagine living kinda wild like that" He flushed a little and set his book in his lap. He then chewed on the candy he had while listening to the others.

Ella smiled at the girl who had returned her greeting and waved back but just as she was about to talk to the girl, Mr. Kitridge began the first meeting. Perhaps they could chat after instead! Moving a bit in the beanbag, Ella got comfy and listened to Mr. Kitridge introduce himself and he even took some candy which could only mean...NOM! Ella followed suit and reached into the bowl, taking a couple of pieces happily.
As her fellow students went around and shared their book choices, Ella listened closely. Some of the books she had heard of before and some were totally new to her. Oh! And someone else had brought Where the Wild Things Are as well! That was cool. Before she knew it, it was Ella's turn to speak and she held up her own copy of the book, smiling happily. "I also brought Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak!" GRIN. "This is my favorite book because I like the idea of escaping into another world and even more, I like the idea of a kid being able to hang with monsters without being scared." With this she nodded and placed the book in her lap, laying her hands over it gently.

My name is Leobald Kitridge and I am the new librarian." Gesturing towards the name cards and bowl of candy he continued "I’m very pleased to see that all of you have put up name cards to aid me with your names. I have only met a few of you so far." He said glancing briefly over at West, Zhenya, Leisel and a few others. "It’s also is endearing to see that each and every one of you seem to have read the rules of the library. For this meeting and this meeting only you are allowed to feast on the candy available in the bowl. There should be enough for everyone." To prove what he meant Leobald reached out and took a liquorice wand from the bowl which he took a bite off.
Finishing his wand some moments later he continued "Now then can everyone in an orderly fashion by going around the circle state the name of the book they have brought and why it is their favourite childhood book?" Nerida reached into the bowl and took out a couple pieces of candy and took a bit of the licorice wand she grabbed, and crossed her legs in her bright blue bean bag chair! She smiled when it was her turn and held up Love You Forever, I brought Love You Forever by Robert Munsch! Its my favorite childhood book because my mum read it to me all the time when I was little and now shes...dieing... So it reminds me of her and it makes me happy when I read it! Yeah, nice Nerida totally mention your mum is dieing and it will become akward, but it was the truth... Its a really good book!!

Elliot had been too busy eyeing the bowl of candy in the middle of the room with digust to notice that she should have put her name and year on a card in front of her. Honestly...no food should EVER be allowed in here...what if one of these she glanced around at all of the boys in here- BUFFOONS spilled it one of the books? Merlin... she narrowed her blue eyes darkly.
She scribbled her name neatly across a card, Elliot Mitchell Morganzo - 3rd year Ravenclaw and placed it in front of her. She reached into her bag and pulled out The Secret Garden. Her copy was a deep plum color, velvet covered, with gold, peeling letters sprinkled across the spine. Even though it was written by a muggle, she still liked it. "My favorite childhood book, which my mother used to read to me as I went to sleep, is the Secret Garden. I think I mostly enjoy it because the protagonist of the story reminds me a lot of myself..." although I am a bit more...attractive than the poor girl in here she couldn't help but smirk as she thought this. She didn't say it aloud, though. That would be too haughty, now wouldn't it? "And even though it doesn't have any magic in it, it's still a good read..." She nodded smugly, as she finished. She noticed how thick her book was compared to others'. It made her a little proud to be a Ravenclaw. Though, it was her mother that used to do the reading, not her.

And I used to find it really funny because it was for muggle children, and the first time she read it to me, that I remember, I didn't understand it because it wasn't for Magic Children. I thought my mum was trying to tell me I was ugly," she said and smiled.
Then she reached over and took a small handfull of the candy and ate it quietly, being very careful not to spil any crumbs or anything.

| Baguette | there is no D in my name | TRAITORclaw | Queenie of Narnia Clutching a very tattered and rather beaten up book in one hand and dropping candy in her mouth with the other, Penelope silently half-listened to all the others talking about the books they brought. She almost didn't come to this book club meeting - she didn't really care to read the majority of books that were out there, like her textbooks - but after writing to her cousin Vashti and receiving a letter in return asking her to attend the lesson for her, Penelope had decided to go - simply because Vashti had actually asked her to instead of ordered, as she was sure her grandparents would have done.
Tuning back into the students' continued explanations on what they had brought, Penelope listened a little more attentively to the last few students...before realizing it must be her turn by now. Still keeping her precious book close, she said, "I brought The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." She couldn't remember who it was by though, and the cover was too worn away in the place where the author's name would have been. "My mum used to read it to me whenever she got the chance." And she'd said that it used to be her father's favorite book when he was little, so that definitely added to her liking of it, giving her a sort of connection with him she never got to have.
She wasn't going to tell THESE people any of that though.

| ♣ Heejin here | Did somebody say coffee & cakes? | cat lover ♣ Jonathan was getting excited for all of these. he never thought he could see himself in a book club meeting considering his relationship with books. He would usually read books that only interest him, hence, he only read books that is related to Potions. But since the first ever meeting requires them to bring their favorite childhood book, then he definitely had read a few. After all, every child has their own favorite book right?
Before the librarian could start his greetings or whatsoever, Jonathan placed his book onto the floor to fix his shoelace. When he was done, he comfortably sat on the bean bag chair and place his book on his lap. However, as Jonathan did so, he saw......... Kurumi. She was sitting across, how could he not notice her. Jonathan looked at her for awhile but then averted his gaze and looked at the professor.
Alright. Time for them to start.
The librarian seems to be a really nice guy and well, Jonathan hasn't been into any book club meetings before that he is an ACTUAL member. So this is really nice for starters. Listening to his speech, Jonathan starred at his book. It was the only book he has ever been fond of as a young kid. He remembers his mother or 1 of his uncles would read the same story to him again and again.
Ohhhh, and they were all given opportunities to eat any candy. Candy in the library? Jonathan glanced over the bowl, he wanted to take but he wasn't feeling the need to eat it anyway. He didn't have the candy appetite for now, so he passed it to someone else. Yeah, they can have his share if they want. Okay, so now, onto the introducing of the books. Jonathan waited for his turn as each raised the book they have and let the members know about it.
When it came to his turn, Jonathan also raised his book "Well i think everyone has already said the name of this book...." he said looking at it "... it's quite popular" very popular indeed. "It's The Tales of Beetle the Bard and my favorite story inside is The Fountain of Fair Fortune and The Tale of the Three Brothers" Jonathan added. He has read all of it, the stories inside the book but really these two are his top favorites of all time. So why is it his favorite book "It's one of the first book i had when i was a kid, my mother bought it and I got hooked up with all the stories inside."

Hogwarts RPG Name: Tristan Holmes Third Year | To the VAMP!Kittymobile!♥Team Cullen ♥I'm a GLEEk!♥Mrs.Archuleta When it was his turn, Tristan simply flipped the tome he was carrying up so that everybody could see the title just above the name card (which stated Tristan Holmes, third year Gryffindor). "Mine is the Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. It's about the only consulting detective in the world - detectives are people who solve crimes, somewhat like our Aurors - and his doctor/soldier friend." True, he came from a pureblood family, but that never stopped them from going out and fraternizing with Muggle culture. This particular book had been given to him by his grandmother, Marguerite. She assumed he'd love it because there's a detective who is brilliant and incidentally share their surname.
A quite correct assumption, he's afraid.

Ah, books. It had been very hard for Ariana to pick a favourite childhood book, as she'd read so, so, SO many, but as she affixed a name tag reading 'Ariana Hartley, Ravenclaw Fourth Year' to her robes, she was pleased with the choice she'd made. It was an old, old, book, and she had brought the fragile copy that her grandmother had given her seven years ago. It was a muggle book, of course, as the little seven-year-old she'd been once could only dream of a world like this existing hidden below the monotonous one she'd known before. Anyway, off topic, she needed to think of something good to say and- oh! It was her turn! "Um, the book I brought is called The BFG, by Roald Dahl, and it's about this giant that goes around and blows dreams into people's windows..." Wow, way to make it sound stupid. Nice job there Ariana. "It's my favourite book because it has lots of sentimental value to me, especially because it used to be my grandmother's, and I've also read it a hundred times, and it never got boring or anything." She smiled sheepishly and quickly looked to the next person- Ariana wasn't really one for staying in the spotlight.

A BOOK CLUB!!! Harlow was almost hyperventilating when she rushed into the library. Her dark curtain of hair flying behind her like a cape. "Am I late?" She coughed holding a stich at her side.
She was going to have to do something about her hair if it was going to take this long to keep it straight. She never had these timing issues when she had a swirling mass of brown curls.
She took a few minutes to catch her breath before she found a seat. She pilled out her favorite swan quill from behind her ear and she grabbed one of the name cards to scribble her name down. Quote: Harlow Riddle

Kaiden wiggled a little bit in his bean bag. There were a lot of people here, and many books he had never heard of. Like what was this thing about beetles bard, and why hadn't he heard about this beetle book? Would it tell him if is pet beetle is a boy or girl? It sounded like - like it were a magical book...but also not. Since Gorlan didn't sound like anything any reputable witch or wizard would call their castle. Since well, most castles were named after their owners or more so - the land around it. Unless it were a goblin castle - she didn't understand Goblins yet. But she would.
When it came her time to speak she picked up the book she had brought and smiled. "I brought a very old - over two hundred years old I think...I don't remember its a muggle book compilation written by Lyman Frank Baum." She smiled, "it chronicles a young girl Dorothy and her travels through the mythical land of Oz - its a land where witches and wizards are real and there's an evil witch called the wicked witch of the west and her sister from the east and the good witch of the north and the good witch of the south...basically each book follows the story of each of her friends and it shows the fight between good and evil and how good always overcomes evil in the end."
And many other things like the power of imagination and how amazing ruby slippers were. Right? "My mom read the book to me as a kid - and I always loved watching the muggle moving picture rendition of it as a kid...daily to be exact but really its not the real thing to get the real thing you need to read about the Tick Tock of Oz and all the other characters not shown in the movie...also - its just nice reading it. My mum would read it and I'd put my head on her stomach and listen to her words as she spoke and to how her heart would thump excitedly in the dangerous scenes" she nodded excitedly. She loved the gurgling stomach sounds most of all.

So they were allowed to eat the candy then. Emmanuelle reached into the bowl for a bag of gummies and opened them as quietly as possible while listening to everyone else talk about their books. She was feeling more comfortable now, since nobody seemed to be judging anyone's book choice. In fact, a lot of people seemed to have chosen the same book. And then her turn came up. "I chose The Little Wizard That Could. It's about a little wizard who is trying to cast his first spell, but can't. He keeps telling himself 'I think I can, I think I can' and he eventually does manage to cast that spell." She started to wonder if she was even explaining it right. "When I start to think that whatever I'm doing is impossible, I start chanting 'I think I can, I think I can' in my head and I get through it." And now she could just feel herself blushing.

Kurumi's eyes were still on Jonathan when they made brief eye contact, but it had been there. Her heart raced again...and broke as she saw what was still reflected back there. Biting her lip nervously, Kurumi wondered if she should say something, even just a simple hello... they hadn't spoken since....since that day... and while Kurumi had expected it, she still didn't like it. She missed him.
She was just about to open her mouth to speak when....he looked away. The seemingly small gesture hurt a lot more than she thought it would and she recoiled in her seat a little. So...this was how it was going to be....
But her attention was taken away from the Slytherin when...the librarian called her by name?! Wait...how did he know?! Kurumi was actually rather freaked out by this and sort of just stared blankly at him for several moments before her eyes eventually looked around the room and saw that everyone else had name tags. Oh...should she make one? Didn't seem necessary since...he already seemed to know who she was...
Weird.
Trying to shrug off these thoughts and others regarding Jonathan Kurumi lifted her book to show everyone. "My book...is Shibawanko's spirit of "Wa"," she began, chewing on her lip some more before continuing. "It's...a story about Shiba-wanko, a Shiba-inu dog, and Miike-nyanko, a calico cat, live together in a classic Japanese-style house. It is...a book that uses stories to teach children how to live in the Japanese-style spirit of peace and harmony."

Hogwarts RPG Name: Amara Kaul First Year | Sunflower Girl | Xavier's Double | Dan's Love | Seriously Black This is awesome. Many people started arriving, some even late. The librarian, Kitridge, that sounds like a printer cartridge, started the first club meeting. They were supposed to explain about it, the book they brought along. She heard the dozen students talk about their book and why it was dear to them and watched them speak enthusiastically about their book. She could see the glow in their eyes as they spoke, probably reliving a few good moments.
Sarah waited for her turn. And it did turn up. She stood up and spoke. "Good day all" she spoke, "I've brought along the book-" she held it up for others to see, "Kane and Abel by Jeffrey Archer" she said, a bit loudly than intended. "It's not exactly a children's book" Right. Really, no way. She stressed the word 'children'. She was no longer any was she? "But it's my favourite" she paused.
"The story is about two people, born at different places. One lives in luxury and one fights through for his identity. Both come up in life and live in the same city" she continued, "And what happens when they cross paths is the rest of the story" she said. "I like the book mainly because it shows the truth of life, like it isn't easy to get a reputation and reach our goal. And the goodness of having an ambition and also, being human" she said.

BOOK CLUB. BOOK CLUB. BOOOOOOK CLUUUUB.
This was way awesome.
After taking an obnoxiously long time writing her name on the cards provided for them, Cass fastened the thing on her robes and displayed it proudly, adjusting it a bit so that it would appear even. Cass Prewett
Slytherin Sixth Year
See? Didn't that look absolutely gorgeous. "I brought my mum's old copy of a muggle book called 'The Last Olympian'" Cass said, holding up the battered, doggy-eared book with a huge griin on her face " Apparently, it's the last book for this series of books about the main character, she bought it off an old muggle bookstore during one of her travels, and she gave it to me when I entered Hogwarts. Its about the character saving the Gods from certain doom." She explained excitedly. Quote:

Glenn sunk into the beanbag and scrawled her name on a name card with her dove feather quill.
She swept her curls away from her eyes and twisted the fringe back, clipping it with a bobby pin. "I brought "The Lightning Thief" By Rick Riordan. It's the first book in the Percy Jackson series. My mother used to read it to me when I was little. I erm- like it because... well- when I was little I always wanted to be a demigod. I guess I just have a lot of memories reading this book." Then, one someone said that they also had a Percy Jackson book, Cass' hazel eyes widened as she turned around in her bean bag seat and eyed the book carefully. Oh my Gosh, she was a Percy Jackson fan too!!
On the inside, Cass was squealing happily, glad to have found someone who liked the same books as her, on the outside though, she tried to look as composed as she could. She could squeal about the girl's book later.

Gemma walked slowly into the room. She was excited about the Book Club and hoped Leobald wouldn't mind that she was attending. Seeing that the meeting had already started, she stood to the side as everyone introduced themselves and their book and once there was a lull in the introductions, she smiled and spoke up.
"Hello everyone...Gemma Cerulean...Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein.... She said with a smile. After she spoke, she spotted a lovely looking purple bean bag and hurried over to it plopping down and curling her legs up close to her making herself comfy.

Sarah's eyes brightened when the muggle studies professor entered the library. Woah. Teachers joining the book club, now that's something. She gave a short bow, " Hello Professor" she said, " Good to see you here" she smiled.

Sophia thought it was quite a shame she had not been to visit Leobald since the term started. He seemed to a rather decent guy and she certainly didn't mind his company. After finishing up her lesson plan the Charms professor left her office and headed towards the library.
Ah yes, she had heard mention of a book club, and it seemed to be in full swing too. Not wanted to disrupt she stood to the side and listened to the students. It was nice to know some of them liked reading. Her eyes combed the room a bit before she noticed she wasn't the only professor visitor there. The muggle studies professor was present as well as the divinition professor. Well then, seemed Leo was popular all around.
