Hecate had finished setting up her classroom. The tables and chairs were there but the burners were not there. Instead, in their place was a slimey... wet creature, which had the body of a fish and the legs of a frog which just happened to be tied together. A box of tools being used as propping the creature up a bit...
This may be a hard class.
Oh well... maybe they'd like it or maybe... don't really care...
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!
Lewis did not miss the way Jonathan was looking at him when he took his hand. And it caused him to do something he very rarely did. Lewis glared at him. What was wrong with the Slytherin!? This was so not the time to be criticize each other, nor make fun of or whatever it was that the groan had meant. No, this was the time to do EVERYTHING possible to bring Kurumi back. To unfreeze her. And yes, for the time being Lewis was even going to ignore the fact that Jonathan had HIS ARM AROUND HER WAIST.
Well, that he had his arm around her waist. No caps needed. It was fine. Deep breath.
A gasp escaped his lips and his eyes widened when Anya joined them...and suggested that Kurumi was going to die. Or well, not going to die but the option was out there. No, that couldn't be. No, Sierra had just looked like that and she was fine. More than fine really considering she was still throwing blame at everybody within reach. So yeah, Kurumi would be too. Only she had been frozen for a while now. What if the longer you were frozen, the higher the risk of permanent damage was. What if-
KISS?!
Lewis blinked at Anya a couple of times in surprise at her suggestion. Why on Earth would kissing Kurumi help get her back? Nobody had kissed Sierra and she was fine. And just for the record, IF anybody were to kiss Kurumi it would be him. Just...in case anybody was wondering. He even sent a nod at the small Gryffindor girl who suggested exactly that. There. Nobody else. Just in case anybody *coughJonathancough* was getting any ideas. Not that anybody was going to kiss her now in the first place. Not after Lafay had said no anyway. Plus he didn't really know what good it would do anyway.
Completely oblivious to Professor Elwood's appearance and the fact that another student had frozen again, Lewis just continued to whisper Kurumi's name and tug on her hand. To no avail however. What could they do?! His eyes went back to Jonathan who looked EXTREMELY annoyed with something - probably him - which made Lewis frown and glance back at the hand around her waist briefly. "Do you want to leave?" See, Lewis could actually have a civil conversation with Jonathan. Or at least he was trying to.
"I could-" Only - once again - he didn't get to finish his sentence as right then Lewis just froze for the second time in the last few minutes. With his hand still on Kurumi's, and his other on her arm. Yeah, there went the plan of Jonathan leaving down the drain. Unless he wanted them both to fall over. Which was likely. Not that Lewis was aware of anything going on around him anymore. Somebody could have set the whole room on fire and he wouldn't have moved an inch. No, he was just...staring straight ahead at Kurumi's face, the rest of his body completely unmoving.
... they were dismissed. The spell Lafay was so excitedly and one hundred percent convinced it was to reveal a prankster apparently was in vain. Before Louisa could point out the obvious, professor Elwood appeared. OHHOHH! Finally someone who wouldn't shout at them for telling the truth. The Ravenclaw glanced back at the Ravenclaw frozen girl, making sure she was not moving, and then her eyes went to Kurumi. Lewis was now there staring into her face and... not moving. Internal snort, didn't he have some dignity? Jonathan was standing right THERE next to him.
Anyways, class was dismissed. Louisa got up and headed for the Ravenclaw frozen girl she waved her hand in front of her face... nope, still not moving. Looking back at Jonathan and the couple she saw that Lewis was STILL standing the same way a few seconds ago. Exactly the same way.
The Prefect hurried over to them and looked alarmed from one Prefect to the other, "Lewis froze again!" she squeaked loudly for the two professors to hear. "I don't want to leave! What if I freeze on my way up to the common room?" No offense but no matter what a Seer told her before, seeing three Prefects freeze and another person from RAVENCLAW it was hard for Louisa to not panic.
"I want to help. There are my friends," she said more quietly.
Jonathan wasn't going to leave, too, was he? HMM? The Ravenclaw looked at him questioningly.
Good thing her she was a students - that started with an "s", because if it started with a 'p' then she would be frozen as well -prefects and professors already did! Sarah gathered her things and scurried upstairs.
Lewis... Louisa... Professors...and everyone who is staying in the room...

Did he just glared at him? Wow, scary? Puh-lease, not even one bit. Was that even like an angry glare? Jonathan rolled his eyes and smirked after seeing Lewis glaring at him. You can glare better than that right, no? But Lewis is not really the important problem here, Jonathan was getting more worried that there are a lot of students have turned into mannequins. At first, the professor manage to unfreeze prefect badger and Sierra. After them, more and more of the students are frozen. And up to now, Kurumi is still petrified and is still frozen. Aren't the professor's going to do anything about this?
Most of the students were now going out and back to their common room, some were really upset, like him, that Potions had to be postponed. He can feel their pain. He's been looking forward for this subject this term, and dissecting the plimpy is the best activity they had yet, but now they had to stop it for awhile because more and more students have suddenly freezing in class. He still can't get over this fact. Potions.... dismissing early. NOOOOO! Why can't they just continue?
Do you want to leave?
His thoughts were interrupted by an annoying voice. Jonathan squinted his eyes at Lewis. Does he want him to leave then? Because he will if he wants to. He's not going to stop Mr. Jealous Boyfriend from anything. Jonathan was about to scold him to take Kurumi but suddenly Lewis just stopped talking. He no longer finished his sentence. Not that it wasn't weird, Jonathan had talked with Lewis before and he always seem to not finish his sentence. He is strange like that.
Jonathan's eyes shifted immediately to Lewis and..................... NOT AGAIN! Wait! Is he really??? Jonathan tried to get closer to Lewis while carefully holding Kurumi and this time more tightly. Staring at the Hufflepuff, Jonathan cocked an eyebrow, has he frozen too? Jonathan flicked his fingers over to Lewis' forehead, in case he would response on how much it hurts because he placed forced on that sudden flick on his forehead. What?! He's just making sure that the sixth year is indeed frozen.
Jonathan waved his hand to Professor Lafay "Slight problem, Professor" other than the fact that now, he can barely move because the two are currently frozen "Hufflepuff boy here is also frozen" he'd suggest that it'd be better for him to stay frozen too but let's not push it. Lafay is also worried about these students.
He also heard Louisa's voice from behind, she did point out that Lewis has now been petrified or frozen as well. Jonathan's eyes followed her and when she got nearer, he tugged on her robes. Forcing a smile, Jonathan opened his mouth "Don't leave............." Please, don't. Since Prefect Kennedy is now going to alert the healer, having Louisa around could be useful too. She's also a prefect and hasn't been frozen yet. Jonathan looked at her with a bigger grin this time, continuing his sentence ".................Someone has to take care of Rasting" because he's not going hold him too. Translation: Get him off, he's too heavy.

Looking around the room, Sierra began to feel a little out of place. Had it not been for Lafay still in the classroom, she'd have tried to sneak out minutes ago. First of all, it was her and a lot of people she was sure didn't exactly find her pleasant. Jonathan Kim, maybe, but definitely not some of the others. Then there was Hollingberry and her little Puffer Boyfriend. She was sure both knew she didn't exactly think the highest of them.
It was altogether awkward situation, yet Lafay had told her to stay put, so stay put she would. As long as Lafay stayed, she'd stay. She didn't feel quite so awkward with the Potions Mistress here. Looking up at Jonathan, she said, "Don't stress yourself." Honestly. It was just Kurumi and the Puffer... "The Healer should be on her---..."
...way. The last word of the sentence never came, though. Sierra's whole body was frozen, standing right there facing Jonathan, her mouth still formed as if she was trying to say the word 'way'.

He was worried as the rest of them on what was happening but doing his best to appear semi-calm about the situation.
No sense worrying the younger students.
When Professor Lafay dismissed class, the Gryffindor prefect might have been more upset about another of his favorite classes being cancelled, but other important issues seemed to take the forefront. Packing up his belongings and getting up from his seat, he spotted Anya and how she had managed to make her way towards Kurumi and the boys, obviously very much concerned for his fellow prefect.
Gideon paused for a moment before realizing Lafay probably wasn't going to want students to linger as the nurse was summoned by the Slytherin prefect and it might be best to help remove his housemates from the room. "Anya..." he spoke quietly coming up beside her. "I'm sure Professor Lafay and Healer Tilstorm will take care of Kurumi and the others. Perhaps we should leave them be."
"Yes, please. Take her away Prefect Gert." She said to the boy.

The class itself was like a roller coaster with all the problems that happened. She decided she wanted to go outside and enjoy the rest of her afternoon. She was still trying to figure out what happened during the class.
"No. Get out. I don't want this affecting anyone else." She said grumbling.

Freezing kids? Was this the same stuff Miss Hollingberry had done in her lesson?! Callie's eyes went wider than usual and turned to see the Gryffindor Prefect forzen in her desk, along with a few others; Miss Greingoth standing not too far from them.
Resisting the urge she felt all over to just turn and run for her Tower, the blonde took a breath and looked back at Lafay. "Umm...well Mrs. Lafay what should we do? Have you called the Healer? Perhaps if we burn som incense they will come to?"
"Do you think I'm daft?! Of course I had the healer called... and what in Hades name would burning incense do?!" Ok... why did it have to be THIS poor excuse for a professor! And yes. That's why she'd addressed her as 'madame'... divination was soooo not a real subject.
She began keeping track of things in her head "Lewis Rasting froze, Sierra Greingoth froze... then the two unfroze... Kurumi Hollingberry is now frozen, so is Nerida Eventide and she isn't a prefect...so it's not just prefect aimed... and now Lewis froze again..."
... wait!
If Rasting froze again... this would mean...
... Sierra.
The captain would kill her...
She slowly turned to the girl...

... ok.
Ok... Tate was going to think she cast on the kids, but she could care less... Alexander was going to have her head on a platter...
Callie was momentarily stunned, not frozen, just stunned.
Professor Lafay had nearly exploded at the students who still remained in the classroom of their own accord, and that group included Louisa Carter who she would have preferred stay since they were both trying to help each other figure this mess out. Hmpf.
"Professor Lafay--" She was about to tell the woman she should calm down before she sent the children into a chaos filled worry but was just shouted at.
Excuuuuuse me.
"I didn't mean that you were daft, I was just checking, that way we could do so if needed." Yeah, she eyed the woman. Normally she wouldn't have put up with that sort of talk but considering there were kids around, this was apparently the Minister's wife, and she had her wand out where Callie's was somewhere in a pocket so she decided to just hold her tongue.
"And, the incense would work the same as smelling salts, Professor, you have heard of those, right?" Surely she had, Callie was just trying to get back for the comment before.
The Divination Professor looked at the students being named off as frozen: Kurumi, and the Hufflepuff Prefect frozen at her side, Rasting or whatever, a young Ravenclaw, Eventide who had attended Divination, and then...Seirra too.
"Should we be wearing masks or something, since it might be contagious?" The potions woman had said that word. Callie had to do all she could to ensure that her vision of not becoming a frozen attractive statue of a Divination Professor came true.

Gideon waited for a response from the younger girl as he himself watched over his friend. He glanced at Lafay as she spoke to him and nodded in understanding of her acceptance of his original plan. "Aye professor." Hopefully Anya wouldn't give him too much trouble and refuse to leave their fellow lion's side. Maybe the professor's words would help spur her to agreeing to leave.
SPOILER!!: Louisa and Lafay

Turned away again to focus back on Anya, he wasn't expecting his surname to be shouted out a couple of minutes later followed by his title and surname again. The prefect spinning around in response wondering if something was terribly wrong and seeing Louisa seemingly freaking out about not wanting to leave and worried about freezing on the way and Lafay asking him to take the Ravenclaw with him.
"Come on, Louisa," Gideon said to his fellow prefect. "Let's show by example that we should leave and head back to wherever else we need to be."
Better to not push Lafay as the woman already seemed a bit frazzled.
Whaaaaooooo... Louisa flinched at Lafay's voice, it overthrew Althea's squeals in the feast last year. Only this time Lafay wasn't really freaking out sensibly.
The Ravenclaw pouted and looked at professor Elwood for help... only the blonde woman got issues with the Dragon Lady on her own. no wonder she suggested her as the dark creature for DADA final exam!

Huffing and snapping her bag off the table, the Prefect followed Gideon. "I can't believe we're not allowed to stay! We can help! They're our friends! We're not kids! How can you be so mature?!" she eyed the boy sideways. Did he have a calming potion of some sort? She so would like one.
Just as they reached the classroom's door, Louisa's face BEAMED at the idea that just popped up in her head. RIGHT. She was going to camp out in the dungeon corridors and eavesdrop on the 'adults' freaking out in there. SCOFF.
... right after Gideon went away with his Gryffindor fellow to their common rooms.

Oakey smiled towards Mordy when he told Theodore to shut up. Serves him right, the Snakes even lost five points as apposed to gaining ten. Oakey finally got back to his notes and jotted down a few more notes here and there ignoring the chaos that no longer involved him (thank Merlin).
But before the class could continue Lafay called for the class to end. Mordy, wanna go hang anywhere before our next...class...starts. Oakey was talking to an empty desk beside him. guess not wonder what made him leave so quickly Oakey thought.
The Chaos continue around him as Oakey was packing up his things. It was becoming more and more difficult to ignore it now and Oakey watched. As Lewis and Sierra froze again! UH OH!
He was not going to be around Sierra when she unfroze. But now he needed a buddy before he left? Where could he find a buddy he looked around and spotted Ella right by the door. E-Ella h-hey wait up Oakey called out to the Second Year Housemate.
Annabelle heard the professor's request and decided it was best to leave the classroom. She wanted to go outside and enjoy the fresh summer day. "Goodbye Professor and good luck." she said and carried her bag and left the room.

Jonathan was waiting for both the Professors to give their final word to him before he does anything else but quite frankly, he can't really leave in this sort of situation. Kurumi is frozen and so is Hufflepuff boy. Louisa was scolded and Lafay want's everyone out of this room. Jonathan was panicking deep inside already. He saw Sierra come over to his side and gave her advice about not stressing out. Apparently, like these two she also didn't finish her sentence and is once again frozen. So that makes 3 prefects at Hogwarts frozen. Jonathan's eyes widened this time and his heart beat is going mad. He'll be the next one to freeze if he stayed longer enough, right? No? yes? He doesn't really know.
Then he heard Professor Lafay talk to him and finally levitated Kurumi and Lewis onto the side for him to fix, pack up and leave. This is a serious matter right now and Jonathan was just dumbfounded looking at every student who is frozen in class. This is no student's prank.
Fixing up his quill, parchment, journals and other stuffs, he placed them all on his bag and slung it on his shoulder. Looking at the two professors who are still around and tending to the frozen students, he gave a slight nod on the head and bid them farewell, "goodbye professors." and once again, glancing over to the prefects.

Somewhere along the way from her office to the dungeon Cece had managed to not only pass, but also lose the prefect that came to get her. Really, you'd think that with all the walking and climbing of stairs these kids had to do on a daily basis they would be in better shape than they are. Then again, she was running on high speed. She did have a professor... or two she needed to get back to in the infirmary.
Running into the classroom she did a quick scan of the room and the situation.
WHAT THE...?!?!
A student from every house was froze in place... and one of them was... Sierra!
NO!
Why her? Why did this have to affect her? The others she could maybe understand, like the suck up Krummy, or that Puff prefect. Although there were other Puffs she would have preferred to see in this state. Then there was that girl in the 'Claw uniform. Well that one she didn't know, but still, she was no Sierra.
Shaking those thoughts out of her head she turned to the professor. "What happened here? What were these students doing when this happened to them?" Please say it was the side effects of a potion gone wrong.

"Should we be wearing masks or something, since it might be contagious?" The potions woman had said that word. Callie had to do all she could to ensure that her vision of not becoming a frozen attractive statue of a Divination Professor came true.
"If you wish to wear a mask, there are some in my desk..." She said curtly. This woman didn't come to help! She was not a happy camper. "As I've been here all day I doubt that I'll get it... but by all means. Get one."

"Finally..." she said out loud. "Cece... I don't know... we were dissecting Plimpies and harvesting the organs... but we didn't even get to open them up! They just started... freezing. At first I thought it was a prank... but then... I mean the only one with their wand out was me... so..."
The blonde Divination Professor still wished that Lafay had allowed Louisa to stay but that seemed to be out of the question, especially if things were really contagious.
She shot the Prefect one more appologetic look and then turned back the situation at hand.

"Goodbye Mr. Kim, and yes, do as Professor Lafay advised. Try to find another Slythering to walk with you down to your Common Room, just incase." She watched him go. the poor boy was probably all sorts of shook up, what with what seemed to be two of his close friends (Kurumi and Lewis) frozen practically on top of him.
Callie would have been sad.

Was that because you were behind it?!
Callie looked at the woman, slightly suspicious and then headed over to her desk to retrieve a mask. This woman was NOT going to get her infected with whatever this was just because she didn't like her or thought she had implied that she was daft, no sir.
Once Professor Elwood had donned her mask she went back to stand infront of the frozen students, not exactly sure what to do next. Were they going to have to carry them up to the infirmary?
But the Healer had arrived before they had to do anything, the male Slytherin Prefect sent to fetch her no where in sight. "Yes, Miss Tillstorm they all have seemed to freeze. Kind of like Max.." she whispered the last part, she didn't want any other straggling kids to hear it and get frightened.
"What can I do to help?" She had a mask now and should be safe, right?
Kennedy walked in after the nurse and walked over to his desk to get his stuff, but then....
Sierra?!
She was frozen again? His feet suddenly rooted themselves on to the ground, as if Professor Bentley's ivy was keeping him from walking. Was she okay? Why did she keep freezing like that. His legs began to slowly move as his green eyes locked with her brown, frozen ones. Could she seen him?
He then turned to the professors. "Shouldn't we inform the Headmaster," he said.
He was leaving. He really was, but maybe they wanted him to go get the Head Man?
His eyes went back to Sierra. He really didn't want to leave.

Of course. This problem couldn't be as simple as a potion gone wrong could it. No, it had to be exactly the same as what was happening with the professors... freezing for no apparent reason.
Taking a deep breath she looked around at everyone that was there. What was with Professor Elwood and that ridiculous looking mask? Oh and look, the prefect finally caught up with her.
"Yes, I can see that," she replied when Elwood mentioned the students looking like Max... and now William too. What she needed to know was WHY they looked this way.
"All right you three..." she said looking between the two professors and the prefect. "...what we need to do is get these students to the infirmary. I'll send a patronus to the Head Master then we can each levitate a student to the Observation Ward. Prefect Escalante, do you think you can handle getting her there?" She asked pointing towards the younger looking 'Claw. "Professor Lafay, could you please get Sierra there?" She was one of her prefects after all. "ProfessorgermaphobeElwood, you take the Hufflepuff Prefect there and I'll take KrummyPrefect Hollingberry." With all that said she sent a patronus to Tate's office informing him of the newest situations here... including William.
"All right everyone, lets get moving," she said as she pointed her wand at the Gryffindor prefect, levitatiing her a few feet off the ground. If the girl was lucky, Cece wouldn't 'accidentally' drop her on the way there.
"Follow me please," she said as she started to move towards the door. She didn't even bother with waiting to see if everyone had a student or if they, meaning Prefect Escalante could handle this task. She needed to get back to the infirmary to check on William. Hopefully Oliver had gotten her patronus and was still there with Willliam. As much as she hated to admit it, she was going to owe him an apology.

So, everyone seemed to be freezing now. What on Earth was going on? Was this the new cool thing? Should Elijah be freezing, too? Well, he didn't want to. Over half of the positions his fellow students found themselves freezing in were HIGHLY unattractive and he would not purposefully jeopardise his good looks for the sake of 'fashion'.
Or ya know, it could be a pandemic of sorts like his good bud Vickers seemed convinced it was and Elijah was keen to trust him. The 'Claw was smart and seemed to have thought out his theory and there REALLY was a LOT of people freezing...
His hand went back over his mouth. He was not taking the chance.
Elijah was more surprised by the fact that Lafay hadn't beheaded all the frozen students out of sheer frustration by now. She seemed like the kind of person who would. She did after all send water splashing into the other girl's face. But it appeared that the Potions Mistress gathered that this was more than some elaborate prank to pee her off and dismissed the lesson.
At mention of this Elijah and Vickers both looked at each other and they knew what the other was thinking: RUN.
And they did.
As the pair reached the door, another Professor had arrived, but Elijah was not staying around any longer to see how this panned out. He was too gorgeous to be freezing all over the place and he was not staying in this incubus of contagion any longer than he needed to.
BUH BYE, SUCKAHS!

Callie looked at the Healer, her blue eyes focussed on the other blonde over her mask as she gave her orders. Alright she could handle taking the Rasting boy to the Hospital Wing. He was frozen in a pretty compact stance so she wouldn't have to do any excessive manuvering.
"Alright we will be right behind you." Professor Elwood said, a tad muffled by the surgical mask covering her mouth, glancing at Lafay and then looking sadly at the lost look on the male Prefect's face before turning back to levitate the Hufflepuff boy. The Healer had apparently broken the grasp that Kurumi and Rasting had been connected by, something the Divination Professor hadn't noticed before, and was already out the door with the girl.
Oh. That wasn't good.
The blonde quickly checked the Puff's hand to ensure Healer Tillstorm hadn't ripped off any of his fingers breaking him apart from Miss Hollingberry and when she was satisfied he was alright, apart from being frozen, she pulled out her wand and levitated him a few inches off the ground. She then followed Cece out into the corridor.

He was surprised that he was not being kicked out of the classroom, but instead being asked to assist. Kennedy nodded. He was more than capable of levitating the young Ravenclaw up to the Hospital Wing. He took out his wand and pointed it at the frozen girl, gently levitating her into the air. He would be lying if he said he didn't want to be the one levitating his co-Prefect, but he was sure Professor Lafay wouldn't allow him to.
The Prefect wondered if this was really an epidemic of sorts or if there was a mini basilisk wandering around Hogwarts, catching innocent bystanders through reflections...but then, students unfroze then froze again, so it couldn't be a basilisk, right? Let's hope not.
Maybe...maybe those rumors about the orb the baby elf had been playing with at the start of the term feast were true? It all seemed so berserk though.
Snapping out of his thoughts, Kennedy moved toward the exit with one last backward glance and followed Healer Tillstorm, at the same time watching that he didn't accidentally bump the Ravenclaw against a stray student or wall.

Okay...okay...
He...didn't know WHAT was going on anymore...
And Healer Tiltstorm had finally made herself known. THANK MERLIN.
They could leave now? Oh, Dylan didn't need to be told twice. Seeing some of his housemates leaving in bulk, he filed out behind them, not really caring if he walked back alone or not. The Slytherin was confident this wouldn't effect him...because if it were just someone cursing people...and they even TRIED that nonsense on him...
Well, the freezing problem would be immediately remedied.
Giving the blonde Healer a look before exiting the room, he smirked.
At least he'd gotten a chance to see one of his favorite people. Which meant this lesson hadn't been a total bust...
She'd take awesome care of Sierra, he knew. The scary beater would be back in no time...hopefully.

Hecate was a tad panicked "Do we really need to bother the Headmast--" but the spell had been cast to alert him. Perfect! Thank you Cece...
She waved her wand and levitated Sierra, but instead of the frozen girl dragging behind, she was careful enough to fly her in front. Now she just needed Tate to chew her out for this...
